San Francisco with my mom and sissy part 1.

I went to the hotel gym yesterday morning to get on the treadmill but it was taken.  Thank goodness I was forced to go outside because for some strange reason I had forgotten that it was 60 degrees and sunny outside…  Why I didn’t go straight outside in the first place is still a mystery to me.

Shorts and tank in January?  I wasn’t running in the most beautiful area but getting some Vitamin D in for the first time in months was good for my soul.

An hour of easy running.

Hotel life isn’t so bad.  Bfast for me and the sis.

IMG 6928

We drove an hour to my favorite city.   Did I tell you how I changed my savings account to be titled as my travel account?  I love everything about it.

IMG 6941

This picture was taken for Brooke.  Elmo, her mom and aunt in one picture….  This picture may make her too happy.

IMG 6944

We were in the mood for salad and sour dough.

IMG 6945

And then we all had the best cookies of our whole life.

IMG 6946

My sister had a mini tantrum when a crumb of her cookie fell on the ground (don’t worry, we bought extra cookies to take home with us too).

IMG 6947

Our major activity of the day was the GO CARS and so we had a little time to kill in that area before we had our reservation to pick up our car.

This was taken just a few minutes after two pigeons dive bombed me and my mom.  I was crying because I was laughing so hard over what had happened.

IMG 6950

I am adding sailing to my list of things that I will do this year.

IMG 6948

My smile lines are permanent after going around in this little car.

I have ALWAYS wanted to get one of these and it was even better than I could have imagined.

The L on our helmet stands for large, not loser.

IMG 6953

We did have one close call when a bus was turning and got really close to us and there was no where for us to go…  We survived luckily.

IMG 6957

Our GPS (it tells you which way to go for the tour and it also tells you about the history of the different things you are driving by) didn’t work and so we got to exchange our car for a much faster one.  It was incredible.

IMG 6959

Part 2 coming your way soon and it includes a video from our ‘driving around San Francisco on three wheals while laughing the whole time’ experience.

I love how happy you look and it all looks like so much fun. I always get nervous to run directly from a hotel because I feel like I might get lost or kidnapped. I would rather run on the treadmill then run in nice weather from a hotel. I get lost in my own neighborhoods…anyways.

Glad you are making the best of yourself over there in San Fran!

Being outside is -amazing- for the soul. We’ve been enjoying a slight break from the cold around these parts as well, and while it’s only hovering around freezing, I’ll take it over the -20C that we usually have in January! Glad to see you smiling and having a good time :)

Man, I love San Fran :) I am surprised it is so warm there, though. When we went in June it was only in the 60s-70s, so I just assumed it would be cold right now.

Hi Janae!

I am travelling to Guatemala to volunteer for a week. While I am there I will be working with the community to build farms, kitchens and teach nutrition. The goal of this is to provide the community with a self-sustainable source of food and income if they can grow enough crops to eat and sell. Malnutrition is highly prevalent in Central America, especially amongst children where the rate is around 95%. The problems associated with malnutrition are very serious and include stunted growth and development that prevent proper functioning. Brain and higher mental function are especially affected. Today, I am asking for your support in this mission of mine. I’m hoping to fundraise $2000 to help the community access equity and better living standards. If you would like to donate, I have created a page where you can make online contributions. Every dollar counts! If you could pass this along to friends and family who care about global issues and food citizenship as well, I would be so appreciative of that.

Thanks so much for reading this!

I need a push like that to go run outside – despite the fact that it has been HOT (for my city) I still haven’t been on an outdoor run this winter! The horror! Your trip looks SO fun, glad you are enjoying! :)
