A fish fry, an embarrassing performance and falling asleep in the middle of the room.

I took my sister’s kiddos to school in the morning and then I got to take care of Curly all day.  Brooke LOVES days like yesterday because she has little buddies to explore with all day long.

DSC 9130

Brooke went down for her nap and Curly and I went to get some stuff for my sister’s birthday.  While we were out and about we just happened to walk into a froyo shop and fill up some cups and sit on the couches by the fire and have a deep conversation together.   My toppings to froyo ratio is still 4 to 1.

IMG 6458

We also picked up my sister’s favorite cupcake while we were out—>  chocolate cake with coconut frosting.  Have I mentioned how much I love living less than 4 miles away from my sister?

Definition of a Fish Fry Party=  A party that my friends throw after they get back from a big fishing trip.  Basically they fry up a bunch of the fish from their trip and we eat fish tacos and everyone smiles as they are eating these tacos because they are just that good.  I didn’t see one person frown as they were eating these.

IMG 6473

Their secret sauce really takes the tacos to the next level.

IMG 6475

And then I ended things off with an embarrassing foosball performance.  I really need to brush up on my skills.

IMG 6478

And sometimes you just need to fall asleep in the middle of the room because you have been playing so hard all day long.

IMG 6466

I was very excited to see this as I was browsing Instagram.

I can’t wait to watch Desi!!!  Watching the Boston Marathon together will one of me and Brooke’s traditions…  And then someday we will run it together:)

Temps are still low teens in DC!!! Work outs are going to be a 6 mile easy run and then Nia Shanks Phase II Work Out II – it’s a mouthful! Beastly lifting session too : ) OH and I got new pair of Brooks yesterday! SWOON

Reply

Tacos look yummy!! Temps are about 50 here so it is really nice, but rain coming the rest of the week so I have to soak it up :)

Easy 6 today so I can do intervals tomorrow before my conference, already done and feels good to have the rest of the day! Kettlebells later ;)

Reply

7 degrees here this morning! Not as cold as it has been, but certainly much colder than we are used to! And I think my car has had it with the cold cause it won’t start this morning. :/

Reply

What is that taco sauce?!?! I must know!
I live on the same street as my sister and it’s the best thing in the world! Looks like you did a great job for her birthday.
We have a cold front here in South Florida, so it’s 60 degrees here.
Today, I’m going to enjoy this amazing weather and run 6 miles outdoors tonight.

Reply

LOVE that about you and Brooke running Boston one day :) My mom and I are actually both signed up to run Boston this year- sharing my passion for running and fitness with her is one of my favorite parts of our relationship. She’s my best friend and I can just tell you and Brooke will be the exact same way :)

Reply

Temps here in South Africa = hot, hot, hot! 91 today :) .

Reply

Please mail me a fish taco. K thanks. :P looks soooo unbelievably good!!

The temps in Nebraska are (supposedly) warming up! I think we might get into the high teens today! Eugh…

My pants are feeling a little tight from the holidays, so while I haven’t figured out my workout for today, I’m gonna have to make it a good one!

Reply

I’m going to run boston one day (I hope) but this year I’ll be spectating. I love that tradition for you and Brooke! It’s perfect :) it was freezing out yesterday and I think it’s still pretty cold today so I’m debating running or just going to Zumba. I can still barely walk from body pump two days ago. Burpees are no joke!

Reply

It’s freezing here! It was in the negatives but I think we are in the single digits today. I love how you and your sister are so close. I used to have fish fries all the time. they are so much fun!

Reply

I think we are hitting 40 today!!! Yayyy! Today I’ll do and easy 3-4 miles on the mill then work on my string bean arms :)

Reply

It’s a warm 21 degrees right now. That is an amazing 20 degrees warmer than it was at this time yesterday morning! More snow today though. I’m so over winter. Luckily, we will rebound back into the fifties this weekend. A messy trail run will be necessary!

Reply

In Texas it’s been super cold, but not as cold as the norm for sure. Right now it’s 39, so not too bad. I would absolutely love to run Boston. When Are you going to run Boston?

Reply

Booty Barre and sprints today. We are enjoying freezing rain. The kids are praying for a school delay.

Reply

Love fish tacos, reading about your’s made me make them for tonight dinner! I would love to live 4 miles from my sisters, we are so close but live so far away! :(.
The temps are about 9 today. Which is good sense we were about -30’s the past 2 days!
Today’s workout is a 3-5 miler, taper week! I have a marathon on Sunday!!!!

Reply

I LOVE fish tacos and those look fantastic! Now I am craving them more than ever! It is finally warming up in Kentucky. It is going to feel like summer once we get in the 30s today!

Reply

It is still below 0 here in MN…so my workout is the treadmill today! I have an indoor mile race on Monday so I’m planning something short and fast. It is hard to do on a treadmill; I feel like I’m going to fly off the back!

Reply

It was in the 50s and raining here last night when I went for my run. I have NO IDEA how you and everyone else runs in colder weather all winter long. I was freezing and I know mid-50s is barely cold for most people! Brrr :) I can’t even begin to imaging running in single digit weather!!!

Reply

Temps are in the low teens this morning, but are supposed to climb to near 30 today! It was 15 degrees when I ran yesterday. Today’s run will be an easy shake-out run.

Wouldn’t it be nice if we could all just lie down and take a nap whenever and wherever without a care in the world? :-)

Reply

Those fish tacos look amazing! When I lived in Cali, I had found the BEST fish taco stand and now that I’m in DC I need to find some god fish tacos again.
I’m SO stoked to see Desi!!!
It is SO cold here and by the time I leave work it’ll be dark…so the old treadmill it is : (

Reply

It’s a balmy 7 degrees here in Boston, so I did an easy 6 on the treadmill. I’m running my first Boston marathon this year and I’m so excited!!!!

Reply

It is cold!!! It has warmed up to 9 degrees this morning…it was 0 yesterday.

Running Boston is def on my list of things to do…hopefully I can qualify before I’m 50. LOL.

Track workout, fun!!

Reply

It’s freezing here! It’s probably not as cold as Utah, but it is definitely cold! Yesterday morning it ws 9 degrees and it feels about 15 or so today! I’d rather just have snow!!

Not sure what my work out is going to be today, but I am thinking weight training!

Reply

temps are cold, cold, cold here:/
Fish tacos were the number 1 thing on my California must-eat list:) and they were super delicious. They were actually my dinner after my first marathon!

Reply

It finally warmed up here to 50!!!! My run this morning was an easy 7 and it felt so great! I agree 4:1 topping to fro yo ratio is the only way to go! Have a good track workout :)

Reply

I’m running Boston this year, as I didn’t get to finish last year. My Mom and Dad will both be running it with me! My mom is my favorite running partner so hopefully Brooke will one day be yours:)

Reply

It’s still freezing today, but 8 degrees feels like a heat wave compared to -20 yesterday. Freezing! Holy moly, haha. I love that tradition for you and Brooke! What a fun one. I’m hoping I can do a half hour run this afternoon, but my toe (recent surgery) is giving me trouble. I did a full body workout this morning. Some days you win, some days you lose ;)

Reply

That pic of you and curly with froyo is so sweet! I love taking my nieces out for ice cream- it’s so funny the things that we have conversations about :)

Reply

Has your sister decided if she is going to start a blog?! All of the kids are just too darn cute!! My goal is to run Boston someday! It is a warm -9 this morning! At least the -45 windchill is gone. Today I am either going to do an hour long strength training video or an online spin session :-) have a great track workout!

Reply

After a couple days of -30 with windchill, today is a heatwave. 12 degrees.

Doing a track workout today too!! :-)

Reply

It is 9 degrees here in New York City. 4 degrees warmer than yesterday!
And it is going up to 23 later this afternoon. Woop woop!

I am going to do the same 3 mile neighborhood route I did yesterday.
I’m calling it a speed workout because I know I’ll just want to get out of the cold as fast as I can. Get ‘er done :)

Brook asleep on the floor with her toys is so sweet. My dog does that. He has fallen asleep on tennis balls which I think must be so uncomfortable.

Fish tacos! First and only time I had fish tacos was this past summer when I was vacationing in Cali. Pismo beach. Omg they were so good.

Happy Wednesday. :)

Yay for desi and shalane too! I don’t know I’ll ever get to run Boston.
If I maintain my current pace ill qualify in 30 years. Lol.

So there is my goal for my 70th birthday.

Reply

Your sister knows what’s up when picking good flavors of cupcakes! Coconut chocolate sounds way too good!!! It’s suppose to be 61 degrees today where I live, I’m dying for it to get a little colder, or just to have spring haha. Chest and Back workout with weights, then doing a Chest and Back pilates workout!! So excited!

Reply

I’m running Boston, it will be my first time. So excited!! Training cycle has officially begun. I live in PA and this winter has not been kind to us runners so far. I am hoping things get better!!

Reply

Temps are so cold but it’s supposed to warm up a little tomorrow!! Yay!

Reply

That sounds like an awesome day. Brooke definitely needed her floor nap.

It’s something like 11 degrees here with insane windchill. Basically, I won’t be going outside unless it’s absolutely necessary. It’s definitely going to be another treadmill workout day.

Reply

High 30’s right now at 6am. Not bad. Easy run with a friend today. Love that. I seriously love watching babies sleep.

Reply

I am signed up for my fourth Boston in a row (I say signed up because I feel like it will jinx me if I say I am definitely running it. Is that strange?!).

Yesterday was a tempo run so I did an easy elliptical/bike/walk workout at the gym – 7 degrees on my drive over there.

Track tomorrow! I hope you have a great track workout today, Janae!

Reply

Crossfit tonight.. pullups-pushups-pistols. Should be a good time.

It is warming up a tad in Houston.. up to 55 degrees this morning.

Reply

Fish tacos are so good! Well any tacos are delicious :-)

I thought for a minute there that you were going to be the one who fell asleep in the middle of the room :-D

If I’m lucky I will do a treadmill run before I have to pick up Max. The streets and sidewalks in my city are covered in a thick layer of ice and I do not have proper winter running shoes :-(

Reply

That picture of Brooke sleeping in the middle of the floor just kills me. I definitely find myself doing that sometimes, although lately it’s been curled up by the fireplace — the weather here has been insanely cold lately. That being said, it’s starting to warm up to around freezing, so I’m hoping to get a lot of snowboarding action in in the next few days. Gotta take advantage while I can!

Reply

I was so excited to see the list of Pro Americans that are running Boston. I will be running with them….albeit FAR behind them LOL.

Run today is easy 4-6, and a spin class :)

Reply

Somehow Montana ended up avoiding all the horrible weather (*knock on wood*) and right now, temps are in the high 20s which is great for 7:30 in the morning ;) I have an easy 30 minutes of cardio and then a full body workout to accomplish today!

Reply

I saw that yesterday and it got me so excited! This will be my first time at Boston and I can’t wait. :)
It’s been so cold here in NY. It was -5 yesterday morning. I’ve taken to the treadmill lately because I’m too wimpy in the cold. Today is just an easy 5 miles. :)

Reply

Sub Zero temperatures here, which means I won’t be getting a run in. I’m already in a cranky mood. I hate missing workouts on non- rest days.

Reply

I’m running Boston for the first time this year and I am really excited! I grew up 3 miles from the starting line and my parents still live there so it is going to be extra special! My run today is an easy (but hilly) run after yesterday’s hard tempo. I love marathon training!

Reply

what is in the fish sauce??? Yummy!

Reply

I’m running Boston!!! Can’t wait. It’s 9 degrees, (-5 windchill) here in NYC= treadmill run this morning. Boring, but I facetimed with my mom during it so that made it slightly more exciting!

Reply

Today will be a strength workout at home! I’m going to try that 8-min abs video you do and then work in some arms. :)
I’m so glad your froyo looks like that too. You should probably teach Curly to appreciate the sugary toppings a little bit more haha

Reply

I’m running Boston, just as long as my knee continues to cooperate. :) I’m just doing it for “fun”… taking my camera like I did last time!

Reply

We had -40 with wind chill yesterday…that was just painful. I refused to leave the apartment ;-)
And mmm, fish tacos. I might have to get those on my meal plan for next week!

Reply

We’re at around 10 degrees here in CT today, but I think the temps are going up in the coming days! I’m so excited! No running today, but going to spin class!

Reply

I’m running Boston!! I ran in 2013 too. I really hope to catch a glimpse of Desi at some point during the weekend in Boston. I love her! She lives/trains near where I live.

Reply

I would love to know what’s in that fish taco sauce! Mmmhmm.
I’m signed up to run Boston this year! My mom will be cheering me on at the finish, but she has run it twice before.
It’s a pretty chilly 10 degrees here on the Seacoast of NH. Given that, I will be doing 9 miles on the treadmill later on.

Reply

it is under 10 degrees here in TN! no idea how that’s happening. no boston for me this year, but maybe next year!

Reply

I have an easy 4 mile run and then some spinning planned for this afternoon. I may throw in some strength training if I have time!

Look forward to seeing Desi!!! That is awesome!

Reply

Current Kansas City weather: 23 degrees and cloudy. I won’t be running Boston, but today I will be hitting my rowing machine for 30 minutes HARD. I’m still pretty sore from yesterday’s “date” with my new trainer. He kicked my butt!!
I’d love a recipe for that Fish Taco Sauce!!! Fish tacos are my FAVE!!!

Reply

My workout today was elliptical and weights! I have an IT band injury and a half marathon in less than 2 weeks… so I’m going to try to stay off of it until the race and see what happens! And I’m awful at foosball…

Reply

I love Desi! So glad she’s turned around after her injury. She and I had very similar injuries and recovery patterns – basically, we had femur fractures misdiagnosed and this treated all wrong. So I’ve been following her comeback with high hopes!
Uh, not that I’m any Desi or anything…just, it’s been interesting for me to watch.

Reply

OMG cutest pic of Brooke sleeping EVER! I laughed out loud lol.

Reply

Oh those tacos look so so yummy!!!

I still want to do a workout today…I’m thinking either a run or dancing!

Lately I can fall asleep anywhere too. A little baby does that to ya. haha

Reply

It’s only 10 degrees here in New York! So cold! But I’m going to bike and lift today so hopefully that will warm me up!

Reply

Squats, squats and more squats

Reply

That’s awesome about Desi!! I am running Boston this year, its my first and I am SO excited! It’s been in the negative here lately, hoping for a brief warm up for this weekend’s long run!

Reply

Today’s workout is a few maintenance miles… but I have to add some hills in on my treadmill! Indiana is super flat and I’m running a hilly Kentucky half marathon in March, so tready hills it is! :)

Reply

It is COLD here! 10 degrees and windy, but I made it to the gym this morning. Our road is too icy to try to run outside for now!

Reply

It is frigid out here. Just frigid. Although they tell me today is warm because we will see the temperature go above 20 degrees. Seriously? Is it summer yet?

Reply

temperatures here are around -15 Celsius with ice and snow everywhere :( on the happy side it should warm up to +2 so an outside run is on the books for today!
Those fish tacos look so good. I want to try taking a nap in the middle of the floor but I think my coworkers would frown upon this (mostly because they would be jealous)

Reply

I woke up planning to do an awesome at home crossfit workout, but I really lamed out on it and did a mini half ass version. oh well, at least it’s something.

Reply

What an awesome thought & goal – to run Boston with Brooke some day! LOVE! I need to set this goal for myself too!

Reply

I’m running it this year! I didn’t get to finish last year so I’m really looking forward to crossing that finish line, seeing my family and being part of this monumental event!

Reply

No Boston for me this year and it’s 64 degrees here today but it was 42 when I ran my ‘easy 8 miles’ this morning.

Curly’s shoes are adorable and I love Desi. She’s like the silent underdog that kicks serious butt, love her!

Reply

I think I, myself, have been known to fall asleep in basically the same exact position in the middle of a room when things get rowdy. Happens to the best of us Brooker’s!

Reply

It’s about 70* here in FL…. much warmer than yesterday’s 50 degrees!! Still chilly for FL, but I’m not complaining since I just spent 3 weeks in Chicago and it was -15 when I left. I ran 3 miles this morning and plan on doing a Zumba class and then a strength class tonight. :) My body will be sore tomorrow for my long run…probably didn’t plan this correctly.

Reply

I did one of the Barre 3 workouts today and it kicked my butt! All that leg work had walking down the stairs feeling like an endurance test.

Reply

I’m running BOSTON!!!! I’m running as part of the Dana Farber Marathon Challenge. Boston is home and I would never qualify, so this is an amazing gift. I love Desi also I hope she rocks Boston.
I’m in Seattle 45 and gray. I ran 6 hilly miles at a 9:40 pace.

Reply

It’s in the low 60’s in SF today. Excited to meet up with some friends for a run after work :)

Reply

Your last sentence was awesome. I’m excited me and my momma bear will be doing a half marathon together this year! I’m in Sac and it’s 43 degrees, it was great weather for an AM run! A few running friends and I actually started a new little running group who meet every Wednesday at 6:30AM to run a 1 mile loop for about 45minutes. We’ve dubbed it #9run6 and invite anyone of our friends and family to join us every week. It was a small group, but it was fun to meet new runners and see some familiar faces!

Reply

I wish I were running Boston! Instead I’ll just be watching from the sidelines.

Today I’m doing the slow 7* and weights.
*7 miles on the treadmill at easy pace

Reply

It is beyond cold here. I am suppose to run 5 miles today but I don’t think I could do it with this weather. An At home work out it is!

Reply

It’s super cold here, so I think this afternoon’s workout will be a treadmill run followed by a bit of strength training!

Reply

This week has made me so excited to live in southern california. I text pictures of palm trees to my mom in chicago almost every day because I’m mean. Hopefully brooke doesnt grow up to be like me :)

Reply

If I’m honest my workouts have been all over the place since before Christmas. I’m back at work tomorrow though so I’m hoping that will help me get back into a routine again!

Reply

Love that sleeping pic! Once one of my sons fell asleep on the hardwood floor in the hall sort of behind the bathroom door.

I’m going to try a repeat of yesterday’s cardio madness ;-) gotta get ready for surgery!

Reply

My mom and I have run Boston together a couple times — it is really cool to do something like that with your mom! My first Boston we finished together and have the coolest finishing photo!

Reply

Mmm froyo! :) Looks like Brooke had a great time!

Reply

Mmm, fish taco party!!

Reply

That wasn’t nearly enough pictures of Brooke after a week long absence! Love it when kids play so hard they fall asleep with their toys.

Weather in Hawaii = perfect as always, currently 72 and sunny.

Rest day today.

Reply

The temperatures here in DC are WAY too cold. 10 degrees or something crazy like that…….

I want to qualify for Boston this year. That’s pretty ambitious though, so here’s hoping:-)

Reply

I meet Desiree last time I ran Boston we ran and chatted for a bit. She is super nice. It will be fun to see how she does.

Reply

I LOVE fish tacos!!! We have fish frys here in MI all the time.
Temp today is up to 14 which beats yesterday of -9 with wind chill of -31.
Run today is an easy 7 on the mill. This is so difficult only having been back running for three weeks (after my Achilles hiccup) and having a marathon in 11 days. I should be in total taper mode but I’m trying to build a little bit of mileage without overdoing it.
So great to hear Desi is B-A-C-K!!!!!

Reply

Those fish tacos look amazing! I love when fishermen/women cook up the fresh fish and share!

It has warmed up to the 20’s here in the midwest. It feels like a heat wave compared to Monday’s -20 windchill. Still too cold for me to go outside (i’m a big baby!). I’ll be hitting the treadmill for a quick 3 miles before 2 games of indoor volleyball.

Reply

The weather here in Chicago is crazy cold, but getting warmer :) at 5• yesterday I felt like going to the beach. It’s so cute that you want to run Boston with Brooke someday! I hope it happens!

Reply

Temperatures are finally above zero today where I am. Got a 3 mile run to do!

Reply

was 28 here in Houston yesterday. It is 55 today and warming!!

I had my FIRST treadmill run in a year yesterday.

today I had an 8 mile run with a 5 mile MAF test in the middle. The MAF test is your maximum aerobic function within a certain zone. I had to stay at the tip top of my zone 2 and record the pace I could maintain.

I am running the Houston Marathon on the 19th of the month.

Reply

Hello!! Well, I’m not running Boston… maybe one day in the future!! The temp in my area right now is 21 degrees! Yesterday was even worse, with the temperature feeling around the negatives!! Workout today was a 5k treadmill speed workout! Then a lot of core!!

Those fish tacos look AMAZING!!! The cupcake too!

Stay warm and happy Wednesday!!

Reply

Brooke is too cute. I wish it were socially acceptable for us to stop, drop and nap on the spot :)

I’m not running Boston, but I’ll be there cheering my husband on. He ran it in 2012 and I had so much fun that I made him qualify again. Definitely something that you and Brooke should experience together someday.

Reply

Those tacos look awesome! Definitely going to have to make some in the future. It’s still freezing here, but we’re getting closer to normal January temperatures which is promising, since having my 28 kindergarten kids inside all day is nuts! I’d love to run Boston one day. It’s on my running bucket list though!

Reply

Can you believe I’ve never had fish tacos???? Have no idea what they taste like!

Reply

The Boston Marathon is on my birthday this year and I cannot wait! I am going to run 15 miles and then watch the marathon :)

Reply

It’s cold again here in Maryland! I ran in the gym the past two days because it felt like -10 to -20 outside. I am excited to run outside tomorrow, its supposed to be almost 30 degree!

Reply

73 degrees here. (sorry everyone that’s freezing right now)

I always love it when little kids play so hard that they fall asleep in the middle of the floor.

Happy Birthday to your sister (yesterday)!

Reply

Omg those tacos look amazing and now I’m craving froyo! Yesterday in Michigan was -13 degrees but today it got up to 10…HEAT WAVE! You really need to never ever stop blogging, I better be able to read about when you and Brooke get to race together :) I will be training with my mom for my first marathon- the Chicago marathon in October. Excited!

Reply

The temps here are about 12 degrees. Today I did a Jillian Michaels DVD :)

Reply

My workout today was 20 minutes abs, and 30 min yoga with weights. The weights made me realize that I really need to start incorporating them into my workouts more. I was dying and it was only 30 minutes!

Reply

Love the sleeping in the middle of the floor. I miss those days! And GO DESI! Making it right in Boston this year.

Reply

So cold here! -20 without the windchill.
Fish tacos sound AMAZING!!
