Why I look forward to Sunday and some motivation.

Exciting breakfast (every Sunday morning Brooke and I have chocolate chip pancakes for breakfast.  It is a tradition that will not be broken).

Boring lunch (every so often I try to put some nutrients into my body).

IMG 3995

A walk with Maggie while Brooke was napping.  Walking with Maggie is the easiest thing in the world because she actually pulls me up the hills.  Now to find a marathon that will allow Maggie to pull me the whole race.

IMG 3975

Brooke and I were in the mood for black and white patterns for church (scored this sweater last night when I went into Banana Republic with a 50% off coupon.  You can find it here.… I am almost as addicted to Banana Republic as I am to J Crew ((as long as coupons/awesome sales are involved;).

IMG 3996

We always get right back into pajamas the second we get home from church.  Part of the reason I always look forward to Sundays:  Pajamas and lots of chocolate.

Brooke has a chair at the main table but whenever the cousins are over she refuses to sit there and has to be next to them.   We had my stew, peas, peaches and cornbread.

Order of the best type of bread is as following:

1.  Bangs Friend’s homemade crescent rolls

2.  Cornbread

3.  Any other bread

Another walk with Maggie and my niece.  We liked this tree so we took a picture of it to show you.  I don’t remember what life was like before blogging… at one point in my life I didn’t take a picture of every detail of my life.

PS I found Brooke doing this yesterday afternoon.  Breaking into FMWs… that’s my girl.

We ended the night with my dad giving us a lesson on electricity.  Seriously.

Here is some great motivation for you to get out and start your week right with a run.  It’s our duty:)

I REALLY need a good run this morning.

I have to take my son to school. This really helps me get up and out to the gym. If it wasn’t for that I’d hibernate all winter long! Brooke looks very determined to get that cereal!

Reply

Whatever type of bread I make is my favorite. Today is a bread making day so we’ll see what comes out of the fingers and onto the counter for some kneading while Susanna explores the pantry nearby.

We’re heading to the gym today. A little treadmill action for me and some swimming with Dad for Susanna.

Does bread pudding count as a favorite? If so I choose that. If not the cheddar biscuits from Red Lobster are pretty incredible. Love the pic of Brooke and fmw! It’s in her DNA…

Reply

Okay, I said I don’t like bread but those cheddar biscuits are to die for. I bought the mix from the store and they are almost identical to the one’s at RL.

Reply

Love your Sunday morning breakfast tradition! It will remind Brooke of good times with her mom until she’s old and grey :) .

Reply

Lately I’ve been all about the Limited. I can’t get enough! My absolute fav cereal is peanutbutter puffins. I even got a few boxes as a part of my bday gift from my fiancé bc I’m so nuts about them :)

Reply

We have been making a lot of homemade bread lately because it’s so easy and we can experiment. I really like sweeter breads though with raisins or cinnamon…Panera French toast bagels are my favorite. Not bread I guess…

Funny about the dog. My friends dog just a 19:36 5k with him. (like no big deal) That dog is amazing.

I’m not sure if I have missed this post but are you just relaxing and restarting a new training cycle for your spring marathon or are you continuing to train through the winter? I know you’ll still be running but I didn’t know if you had written about how your training (if it would) change! Anyways I look forward to hearing from you Janae and have a great (and slightly warmer week)!

Reply

I love breads and do not discriminate!

I will be sitting a lot today training for my new job. Once I get through the training this week, the job itself doesn’t involve much sitting, thankfully. Tonight I will run and enjoy a yoga class.

I haven’t had any cereal lately. I just don’t eat it very often.

Reply

I am a banana and j-crew all the way.
Love your banana sweater, might have to buy one and be twinsies.

Favorite bread: carrot cake, does it count as bread if made as a muffin with out frosting? If not, zucchini, followed close behind with french bread.

Reply

Lol! That picture of Brooke in the FMW box seriously cracked me up — she’s your little girl for sure ;) Lately I’ve been eating a lot of Cinnamon Toast Crunch, but if we’re talking more nutritious cereal, then Kashi’s Cinnamon Harvest (almost wrote Cinnamon Toast Harvest — clearly obsessed).

As for bread… can I cheat and say banana? :D

Reply

Hahahah Brooke! She is a sneaky one. I love homemade bread. My dad makes this really good herb bread and I’ll literally polish off an entire loaf in one sitting. I also like these little fried dough ball things at a steak place near me. So good. Have a great run today! Mondays are my rest day aka all the carbs!

Reply

Is it weird that I don’t really eat cereal? My favorite store – hmm. I love Abercrombie lately and Bloomingdales but lately I can’t find a thing at Bloomies…workout of the day ended up being the elliptical. I tried to run but my feet have been hurting me and it just wasn’t worth pushing it. Ugh.

Reply

Great weekend!! I love Brooke sneaking into the cupboard going after the good stuff!

Reply

I am a BR republic junkie also! Their coupons(and the Gap) are unreal!!!
Cornbread is my favorite bread and after that I will take any bread that is available. =)
Love eating dry PB Cheerios.

Reply

I’m a teacher so I hardly sit at all at work, and this afternoon I will go for a walk. I ran my Fall Classic 10k at UBC yesterday at 1:00:55. It’s a PB, but I’m mad at myself for not going a smidge faster and knocking off those 55 seconds. Next time.

Banana Republic is definitely my fave! Love the factory outlet especially!

Honey Nut Gluten Free Chex is my recent favourite, especially pre-run! :)

Reply

Favorite clothing store = Boscovs (though I think that may be a regional place?)

Brooke’s little braids are adorable!

Reply

I’m in love w/ Special K Protein Plus cereal. I never get sick of it! Sometimes I put chocolate chips in it, like your pancakes! :)

My favorite store to get clothes are Ross/Marshalls/TJ Maxx because you never know what you will find there and it’s always fun to scavenge. Kohl’s is great too, since there’s always a sale and always a coupon!

Reply

I like Kohls for non running apparel ;) It’s cheap with the coupons they are always sending out! I loveee cereal and my favorites are Cinnamon Toast Crunch and, more recently, Fruity Pebbles. Found those this weekend and couldn’t pass them up! I am hopefully heading out for a run after school today :)

Reply

Favorite cereal: Cheerios–any flavor. I add nuts, seeds and fruit to make a tasty, nutritious breakfast.

Favorite bread: Definitely my mom’s squash rolls! They’re a Thanksgiving tradition, and I’m really looking forward to them!

Reply

I’m obsessed with Jcrew and Gap!

Reply

Bread is my “thing.” I can eat all types of bread (except rye) and enjoy each one without prejudice. They are all my favorite types! :) Also not prejudice against any pastas. Or any combinations of bread + pasta (except rye).

I don’t like rye…. did I mention that?

Reply

What, you mean there are runners out there who allocate funds to purchase non-running clothing items?? Ha. You should check out bodenusa.com. Great stuff.

And on the agenda for today: Lots of sitting. Sad face. Continuing education for work.

Reply

I discovered peanut butter puffins recently and I’m obsessed!

Reply

I didn’t get to do my long run yesterday because my son threw a fit in the stroller so we had to go home after a half mile. I am hoping to do my long run during lunch today. We’ll see if that happens or not.

I don’t really like cereal, I eat oatmeal every single day for breakfast unless I go out to eat…and then I sometimes still get oatmeal.

My favorite store to shop for non-workout clothes is Ann Taylor Loft. I’ve never bought pants there though, just shorts, tops, and dresses. I don’t know where I like to buy jeans. My two pairs of jeans are actually both from Honduras, but that’s a bit far to go for a pair of pants.

And I made cornbread yesterday too! To go with our chili. Yum!

Reply

I have a stomach bug today, so I will be living on ginger ale and on the couch. :-(. At least I got in a good 6 miles yesterday.

Your Sundays sound so perfect :-). Mine are pretty similar but you have to add in hours upon hours of football watching.

Reply

I love “that’s my girl” hahaha she really is so much like you!!! I would have to disagree with you, cornbread should be #1. And if I lived closer to you (and not states away) I would totally make you some of my famous cornbread and you would change your mind ;). I usually just set my alarm clock to get myself going. For some dumb reason I always listen to it haha.

Reply

Having a dog really is great for forcing yourself to workout when you’re being lazy. I feel bad for Bungee some days and that’s the only thing that gets me out for a run.

Reply

My secret store of choice is Talbots-clearance rack. They have really cute pencil skirts and sweaters. I thought it was MY secret until I saw some other 30 yr-olds wearing them at church.

I am going to the gym and then cleaning my bed and bath from top to bottom. I am not sure if I will ever not have a flat butt, even if I fight against sitting. Haha!

Reply

Jcrew and Nordstroms are my absolute favorite! At wholefoods you can find organic honey whole wheat bread made by Rudis and it is delicious and so healthy. My Garmin Forerunner 220 is scheduled to be delivered today (after months of waiting) I cannot wait to put it on and go for a run!

Reply

I love banana republic – I wish my wallet could afford it more often! I typically like to go to the BR outlet stores!

Reply

I love J.Crew and Banana Republic and Gap too.
Not a huge fan of cereal but my Mom bought me these awesome Star Wars pancake forms from Williams Sonoma, so this morning we had Tie Fighters and Millenium Falcons for breakfast, and by we I mean me, my husband and my adult son. Yes, in case you didn’t know it, we are nerds. Big. Nerds.

Reply

I am absolutely addicted to the Banana Republic factory stores. That’s where I buy 90% of my business wardrobe! Love the pic of Brooke sneaking into the FMW. Smart girl!

Reply

Favorite store: Anne Taylor Loft, Gap, Banana, Forever 21
Favorite bread: Anything really, pita bread?
Moving today: biking and weights
Cereal: Cinnamon Life and Raisin Bran Crunch.

Reply

I love Special K Chocolatey Delight. I actually have a weird way to eat it. I leave the box on the dashboard of my car and let the sun hit it (or I blast the heat and put the box on top of it in my car) and let all the chocolate melt; once the chocolate is melted, I place it in the freezer for ten minutes and let the chocolate stick to the cereal. I take it out and they’re in chocolate-cereal balls. AMAZING!

Reply

Genius.

Reply

That looks like a great Sunday!

My favourite non-workout clothes store has been Forever 21 lately. I love that you can get so much bang for your buck there and even though they’re not the best quality, I’d rather have quantity over quality when it comes to clothes lol. There, I said it.

Reply

Gap and Anthropologie are my favorites for non-running attire. I would love to find some races that my dog could join me on. He pulls me, too (and sometimes knocks me down).

My favorite bread is homemade. Doesn’t matter what kind. I eat Kashi cinnamon harvest. I like to think of it as the adult version of cinnamon toast crunch. My son and I have the same chocolate chip pancake Sunday morning ritual. On special days, I add sprinkles.

Reply

Brooke in the FMW, like mother like daughter. Soo adorable!

Reply

Cute sweater! Loving Brookes braids.
Sundays are my favorite too although my primary calling keeps me very busy (but I Love it!)

Treadmill and jillian workout today.

I dont usually eat cereal but I did buy trader joes fmw because of u ad they are yummy. U should be their spokesman :)

My favorite bread is sourdough or the wheat bread from great harvest.

Happy monday

Reply

I had hot chocolate twice this weekend and completely felt like I was pulling a “HRG”.
Also, Cinnamon Jacks is the best new cereal out there.

Reply

I love banana Bread yummm!

Did the lesson on electricity come after the arrival of the electric bill? :) That’s what happens in my house. Every time the electric bill arrives, whoever is first to open immediately goes to thermastat and adjusts either up or down, depending on the season.
Being cold natured stinks!

Your daughter Brooke is the cutest little girl. Do you say her name like the river, “brook” or do you say her name with the long “e” at the end? I had a best friend who I played with all the time on my street named Brooke but her name was pronounced with the long e at the end :)

Favorite store: F21 and JCrew Factory (some retail Jcrew) I just bought the jeweled llama sweater (dusk) http://www.jcrew.com/womens_feature/NewArrivals/sweaters/PRDOVR~07877/07877.jsp because it’s the closest thing I can find to a typical “christmas” sweater – but I think it’s CUTE!
Favorite bread: breadbowl soup bread! With broccoli and cheese soup in it!
Moving today: I’ve been a strict runner for over 13 years now – and this past summer I really messed up the bottom of my right food – I think it’s a Morton’s neuroma? It just doesn’t seem to go away – and it’s come back with a vengeance yesterday (running outside) so I think I’m going to have to open my mind to other forms of fitness :( I’ve been doing the ARC trainer at the Planet Fitness gym here – and it’s one of the HARDEST cardio machines EVER. Probably the only machine I’ve found that is as close to running (or possibly harder with lots of resistance!) Hopefully, I can still be a runner down the road if I watch my foot :(
Cereal: Obsessed with some of the Malt-o-meal bags – like Chocolate Marshmallow Mateys? And just bought their Cinnamon Toast Crunch look-a-like! Good deserts :)

Hope you have a great Monday!

Reply

Oh my goodness…Brooke’s little braids!! And boots!! You are killing me with her adorableness! You both are so gorgeous.

So many walks you take all the time. I need to be better. I will sometimes go for walks after I put the kids to bed, if Ross is home, to unwind. But the past few days have been cold and I am the biggest wuss there is, soooo.

I don’t really eat cereal. Sometimes I grab a handful of the sugary stuff my mom gives me to my kids. And my favorite bread is pumpkin chocolate chip. That is totally a type of bread and you can’t convince me otherwise.

I don’t really have a favorite store per say. I am all over the place. As long as I can get it cheap. lol.

Hope you get your awesome run this morning! See you in a little bit!

Reply

My favorite store is a consignment store in our area…they have a few shops. I like being able to shop lots of boutique/designer brands under one roof for cheap.

Now that I have my bitchin’ cane, I can hobble fairly pain-free so perhaps a walk in nature today! I can’t wait.

I think you and Brooke should move in with us…a billion toys and chocolate chip pancakes EVERYDAY!!! :)

Reply

I love that sweater you found! I never get good coupons..and I am always jealous that everyone else always finds them haha

Reply

Oh Banana Republic! The best!! But agreed only with a sale/coupon. Pretty much all my work clothes come from there or the BR outlet!

Reply

Love your matchy matchy outfit with Brooke.
My favorite store to buy non running clothes is at Lululemon. They have so much stuff that I buy for comfort and never use for running. Dress up clothes I like from Dillard’s or Express. I really don’t like bread, I know shocker! It fills me up too fast and then I don’t get to enjoy food with real flavor…do croutons count? I started a new program on bodybuilder.com and looking forward to gaining some muscle. I haven’t had cereal in forever, mostly just oatmeal.

Reply

My favorite store is a tie between banana republic and jcrew also! Their constant sales are really dangerous. Piperlime is also a great website for online shopping- gets me every time.

Today I am trying a spin class here in NYC and interviewing the founder for my new blog! SO excited! http://nyviewsnikeshoes.com

Reply

I do a lot of “non-running” clothes shopping at this fancy place called Target – have you heard of it? It’s very chic.

I usually stick with my old fashion Quaker oats, but I have been on a Kix kick.

I really need to get a dog and run all my races with him…I feel like I’d be so much faster.

Reply

Favorite bread is fresh warm sourdough right out of the oven, yum!

I don’t think I have a favorite non-running clothes store! I just buy whatever I see that I like and looks decent on me (and doesn’t cost an arm and a leg!).

Don’t hate me but I’m not a huge cereal person. Especially in the winter I like to have warm food, so I especially don’t eat it in the winter. If I had to pick a favorite it would probably be some sugary not good for me cereal!

Reply

mmmm I ran this morning and did some weights. Felt awesome!!

I love Loft and have to use LOTS of discipline to not buy everything in the store. Plus they always have sales which makes it so much harder.

Reply

Pumpkin bread!!! Forever, totally, 100% my favorite. I made banana bread this weekend with a friend and that was delicious too! I need a good run today too… definitely let “healthiness” slip out the window this weekend!

Reply

Cornbread is definitely up there on the list of best breads out there!

Reply

i love the picture of brooke eating the FMWs… she’s definitely your mini-me :)

Reply

Wait…. there are stores that don’t sell running clothes? Just kidding! I’m a Forever 21 girl. I teach, so I’m on a major budget :)

Brooke breaking into those FMW’s is hilarious….she even looks covert.

Reply

I love the runners against sitting movement!

Reply

I love Victoria’s Secret Clothing and Express, but only with coupons ;) I love cornbread like no other especially with honey butter! Just mix together honey and butter and it’s a delicious topping to an already delicious bread!

Reply

Wait a sec, there are non-running clothes? Hmmm. Interesting :P

Today’s a non-running day, but I will be doing an interval workout when I get home from work.

I don’t each much bread or cereal on a regular basis. Weird, I kn

Reply

I love all kinds of bread, but my favorite is Olive Garden breadsticks. I could eat dozens of those things…literally.

I’ve been big into Smart Start as my cereal of choice lately.

Reply

My favourite store is a toss up between American Eagle and H&M lately. I don’t think I really have a favourite bread. I do like bread, but I can take it or leave it really.

I also started my Sunday with chocolate chip pancakes. My Saturday started the same way. :)

Reply

I LOVE H&M and old navy for clothes. I’m cheap.

Brooke’s pigtail braids are adorable.

Cornbread + chili = the best on a cold day (or any day).

Reply

The broccoli totally cancels out the chocolate chip pancakes. :) I am curious, when do you typically type up your posts? I would imagine posting somewhat consistently each day is important, but it’s something I’ve yet to get the hang of. Just curious what your schedule looks like. I’ve been following your blog for years, keep up the great posts! :)

Reply

Sneaky little Brooke! I love bread!!! But since we went gluten free….it’s a no go. There are some decent gluten free options, but they are expensive and full of sugar…boo.

favorite store for non-running clothes…Old Navy or Maurices.

I love banana bread… so yummy!! :)

Mmm pancakes! Cute sweater! I got a striped sweater on sale at Gap this past weekend too!

I am not picky on where I get my clothes, but one thing that me and my friends sometimes do I go to AE and see if I can get to the back of the store without anyone saying anything to me. AE has a policy that their employees have to greet every customer that comes in. With all my attempts I have only made it to the back wall once.

Reply

My favorite place to buy clothes? Mmmmm… Where ever I can buy the best sale. I don’t think I have an absolute favorite store. Today I’m sitting in training all day, but will definitely be out running as soon as I can get out of here.

Reply

Hard to say what’s cuter: you, Brooke’s braids or her fab boots!

Reply

I love every kind of bread . I’d say banana bread or corn bread takes the cake though !

Reply

Ahhh Brooke’s pigtail braids are so so so cute!!!! :) Love the matching and love the chocolate chip pancake tradition! That’s the kind of thing she will cherish later on! I have been hooked on FMW lately, too!! Can’t get enough. It’s my before-bed snack pretty much every night. #pregnant

Banana Republic is definitely my go-to…if only I ALWAYS had a 50% off coupon I would probably shop more! ha

Reply

Love to shop at Belk… southern style at its best. Other than that, I am a local boutique kind of gal.

Reply

You have such cute clothes! So does Brooke! Part of why I love following your blog is to see what outfits you two come up with :)

Reply

Banana Republic outlet is where I have done my last few couple of shopping sprees. They always have the best deals! ANY bread will make me happy, I’m really not picky when it comes to the deliciousness of bread.

Reply

For non running clothes I like Madewell and jeans from American Eagle. Favorite bread is anything from Macrina Bakery in Seattle. I walk my dog twice everyday. My favorite cereal is Product 19.

Reply

Brooke looks so sneaky getting into the FMW ;)

Reply

I haven’t read them all, but my neighbor introduced me to California Cornbread which basically takes cornbread and makes it lighter and sweeter. You basically take a box of cornbread mix and a box of yellow cake mix, combine and bake.

Slap yo mama good!!

Reply

I love your new sweater — what a great pattern!

My favorite bread would have to be pumpernickel — especially in bagel form! Yum!

Have a great night!

Reply

Love the Sunday morning pancake tradition!

I haven’t had cornbread in a very long time but if we’re talking cereal… Raisin Bran Crunch is where its at.

Annnnnnnnnnnnnnd this comment is all about food.

Reply

I’m totally on love with J. Crew. It’s a dangerous relationship…

And I’m with Brooke on a mini wheats kick. I can’t get enough of them lately:) however, chocolate chip pancakes are definitely sounding pretty good right about now…

Reply

I haven’t been clothes shopping in too long! But I love Target and Old Navy and American Eagle.

My favorite store to shop at is Maurices! They have such cute clothes :)

My favorite bread, hands down, is garlic bread! I could eat half a loaf by myself, no problem.

Reply

We’re the same way after church, heels and dresses off immediately and into jammies!
Been eating Honey Nut Cheerios a lot recently.
Love Brooke in the cereal box!
Also a fan of Banana & J. Crew, GAP too!

Reply

I love banana republic and Jcrew but usually can’t limit myself to spend within my budget at those stores! I usually shop at the loft (when I’m not spending all my money on running clothes)

Reply

I love the picture of you and Brooke and your black and whites! Very cute! I love the Loft and Ann Taylor for my non-running clothes.

I ran on the Huckleberry Trail; it’s one of my favorite trails in one of my favorite places!

I love bread- my fiancee calls me the “carb monster” because I could eat bread all day…bagels, pretzles, baugettes…
Have you ever tried the blueberry frosted mini wheats?! If you haven’t it’s a must…they are hands down my favorite. Not what you would expect!

GAP! Their clothes are so comfy :)

White mountain bread from Publix … I feel like you’ve asked this before, because I definitely feel like I’ve answered with this before ha!

After an 11 hour work shift, I hopped my butt on the elliptical for 30 mins! A lil workout is better than no workout! :)

I love all cereal, but rarely buy it because I will sit and eat the whole box on a Saturday morning!

OMG everyday on the weekend mainly we come home, knowing we aren’t going out again and we are in PJs within 5 minutes

I really love frosted mini wheats..ESP the brown sugar ones..yum!
Favorite clothing store is Humanity, an awesome little unique boutique in the city I work in-the owner shops all over the world and Brits the merhandise back here… Amazing!.)

Homemade dinner rolls. Olive Garden breadsticks. Red Lobster cheese garlic biscuits. Bread is my BFF. As long as there are no onions involved.

Macy’s, especially in the late winter months where I can score the greatest sweater deals. Not that I need anymore, but… ;-)

I just bought FMW, but am finishing up my Rice Chex kick first.

I’m up for work where I’ll be with little people under the age of 10, after which I’ll be doing a long run at an easy pace. I’m paying for all of those squats I did yesterday. :-O

Reply

Sundays are literally the best. Love your list!

That picture of Brooke in the FMW is seriously adorable.

I’m a Banana Republic, Target, and Loft kind of girl for non-running clothes. Banana and Loft are awesome because they ALWAYS send email coupons. This past weekend we went to the outlet mall and between the in store sale combined with coupons…we got 80% (no joke) off at Banana and 65% off at Loft. I scored a whole new winter wardrobe for work (which is awesome because I really needed new sweaters and such now that its cold out).
