First of all… I have gotten some questions about where some of my boots and my purse are from.
Remember when Brooke was this small….
1. ‘Troopa’ Boots!
2. The newer version of my tall boots that I bought 6 years ago…. HERE!!
3. My purse is from HERE!! (I like to refer to this purchase as ‘the time I was going through heck and thought that spending a large amount of money on a bag would make me feel better… and it did… and it still does.” I do think that spending good money on a bag is okay because you use it EVERY single day).
And Brooke wanted me to give you her outfit details… Target. Target. Their kid clothes are my favorite.
My whole family (including my cousins, aunt and Mer) came over last night to celebrate Thanksgiving. My parents and I will be in Northern California for Thanksgiving so we thought we should do something last night with everyone before we leave.
Brooke woke up from her nap in a very grumpy mood. She has gotten good at the pouty lip.
I swear they are twins that are just 7 years apart (ps that is how far apart me and my sis are so that makes me happy).
What… you don’t have taco soup and cornbread when you celebrate Thanksgiving?!?
My Mom’s Taco Soup:
1 lb ground beef
1 large onion-chopped
1 28-oz. can crushed or chopped tomatoes
1 15-oz. can tomato sauce
1 15-oz. can corn, undrained
1 15-oz. can kidney beans, undrained
2 14-oz. cans pinto beans, undrained
1 envelope hidden valley ranch dressing mix
1 envelope (or 2 tbsp) dry taco seasoning
STEPS:
1. Brown beef and onion in skillet. drain.
2. Put all ingredients in slow cooker and cook on low for 4-6 hours.
3. Garnish individual servings with tortilla chips, shredded cheese and sour cream.

My aunt gave me the best back massage ever.
And of course some desserts made an appearance.
PS I think my parents really like being grandparents.

Canadian Thanksgiving already passed a while ago – it was in October! My Sunday night dinner was some traditional Ethiopian food with my landlady. She is a doll and it was delicious. Looks like you guys had a great time!

We’ll be in Northern Virginia for Thanksgiving visiting my folks and my hub’s son. It’ll be a chance for our daughter to meet everyone and vice versa. Included in that is a hoped-for meeting with the woman who hit my hub while he was riding his bike that forever changed his life.
The woman is awesome, and were it not for her, I wouldn’t have my hub. She just had a bad moment of sunlight and trees, and as a result.. pow!
She took it very hard (lost 17 lbs in depression the first month post accident) which is understandable given that it was less than 50-50 that Scott would live. That Susanna and I will (finally) meet her in person so she can see how far Scott has come thrills me! (Scott and the woman chat each year on their “anniversary,” so she’s seen good healing, but seeing a running-around baby from the mangled man on the bike, well… it’s a whole other level of healing and peace.)
Oh, and the other great part is that we’re staying at one of my closest friend’s house. She’ll be out of town, and …. yes, she was the first person on the scene post hit. She thought she’d be the last person to see my hub alive.
So thankful for a nasty situation that has turned beautiful with faith, hope, and love!

Right now I’m just trying to keep almost-one-year-old Susanna from tearing up her Grandma and Grandpa’s place… while being grateful for Scott’s “angel” at whose house we’re staying.
Seriously, the woman texted and said, “if you need anything, just text”- meanwhile she’s left us her house (and her car if we want it)- with food and more. She sees beyond the accident, the struggles, and into the positive life changes as a result of it. (Though it profoundly impacted her, as one might imagine… Holding a man, his right ankle nearly severed, not conscious, blood everywhere. All the while she’s a cyclist, a runner- a super fast one, a triathlete knowing the full impact. Yet, not knowing who he was nor if she’d ever be in contact with him to find out. … She found him via a Washington Post article on his accident.).)

Today is our Thanksgiving! We don’t have family anywhere near us so were celebrating with friends! My favorite dish is the sweet potatoes! Sunday night dinner was Chicken quarters with green beans and rice- delish! I have 2 sisters (twins) and a brother- my brother is 6 years younger and my sisters are 7 years younger!

I have one pricey purse (around the range of yours) and I have worn it for every possible occasion for almost 2 years now. I don’t even feel tempted by other purses since I bought it. I don’t buy a lot of investment clothes, but I think purses are worth splurging on every few years if you can!

I love that bag!!! I have never spent so much on a bag before though, and probably never will. I am still carrying my diaper bag around, but feel like it’s almost time to retire that thing.
We are spending Thanksgiving with our golf partners. It’s odd because my sister lives less than a mile from us but she always goes to her in-laws and although I spend a lot of time with them too – I don’t really enjoy Thanksgiving with them because they don’t do a traditional sit-down meal. I’m picky about Thanksgiving traditions.
My Sunday night dinner was Turkey Pastelon from SkinnyTaste – super yummy!!! And I am looking forward to a baked corn dish recipe that I always make (my grandma’s recipe).
And I am the middle child – my older sister is 21 months older than me and my younger sister is four years younger than me. I have been close to both of them throughout my life but am now probably slightly closer to my younger sister since she lives down the street and my older sister lives across the continent.

So much talk of Thanksgiving around the blogworld today — makes me sad that us Canadians celebrated over a month ago! We are celebrating Thanksgiving in NYC this year. I’m a little bummed about not getting to enjoy my mom’s cooking because I love her stuffing and casseroles, but I’m so excited to watch the Macy’s Day parade live.

Glad you guys had a great early Thanksgiving dinner. I live in Canada so we had our Thanksgiving back in October, but my favourite is stuffing. Last night for dinner I had a bbq chicken salad, not nearly as exciting as your dinner.
I’m 3.5 years older than my sister. We used to fight over typical sister things when we were kids, like borrowing each others clothes, etc. without asking, but now we’re really close.

Can’t say the same for the boys but really, I never found too many outfits for my son that were all that adorable like one can find for girls… I will be in Manhattan with the fam for Thanksgiving at my aunt’s house. We are having my husband’s family over on Thanksgiving and some friends will be visiting from WI – 13 total! My husband has everything finely tuned in the kitchen and the turkey fryer all set up and ready to go. I have a 4 mile race that morning for which I get a free bottle of Sangria so I think we’ve got a pretty good deal! I most certainly run for alcohol – especially when it’s free ;). I’m looking forward to spinache casserole and gluten free stuffing. I just recently figured out that gluten and I aren’t getting along and my husband has been awesome in looking up recipes for Thanksgiving and changes he can make for me.

I made spaghetti and garlic bread last night. I honestly ate about 1/2 lb. of spaghetti and 3 pieces of garlic bread. Apparently I thought that my easy 8 miler this morning required carb loading.
Stuffing is my favorite part of Thanksgiving too. We are heading to my mom’s… less than a mile away. Cornbread casserole and green bean casserole are what I’m in charge of. Easy peasy!

Just did Cassey’s Pop Pilates videos on youtube- do you like those? They are super fun. I wonder if teenagers would like that kind of thing because it’s very uplifting and Cassey talks about being “strong not skinny” which is such an essential message! Anyway I know you have mentioned speaking to girl’s groups for running so I thought someone may want a recommendation like that.

I’m abroad. We usually host Thanksgiving for a few expat friends in our tiny apartment, but we are moving back to the US in less than a month, so things are just too chaotic to do it this year. :( My work is doing a thing though, and I’m going to a carolling thing on Friday (obviously the day after Thanksgiving is the first day to celebrate Christmas. . .).

Love your bag! I know what you mean about spending money on a quality bag! I have bought a couple of Petunia Picklebottom bags since having kids, and I love them so much I could cuddle them to sleep!
I usually look forward to the pies at Thanksgiving because we don’t do the typical apple and pumpkin (much to my husband’s dismay). We go for the gold with the French Silk pie from Village Inn! If you haven’t tried it, you MUST on Thursday! Mind blown. :)
I’ll be making the mashed potatoes this year (for the first time in my life), so I really hope nobody is looking forward to them the most….pressure! :)
I’m the oldest of 5 kids in 6.5 years….my parents are crazy! :) My kiddos are about 3.5 years apart and I think it might be longer before the next wee one rolls around. We’ll see :)

I celebrate gratitude every single day of the year, but we are going to my BIL’s this Thursday to have Thanksgiving dinner with family. No turkey…they’re doing a BBQ. Since my kids finally love turkey and all the traditional Thanksgiving stuff, we will be doing that at our house on Saturday, I think…if I can manage to prep the turkey and get it in the oven at the right time! lol Last year that was an issue :P
When my grandparents were still around we always had ravioli at Thanksgiving. I think I need to resurrect that tradition :) I love stuffing…which is a real GF challenge. I like the “regular” kind that is basically soggy, buttery, spiced bread with some carmelized-ish onions and celery. NO NUTS.

I didn’t realize you were SUCH the baby! Sadly, I have no siblings…so I made up for it. In our blended family there is a 29-year spread, oldest to youngest. The spacing goes like this: 18 mos, 4 years, 16 mos, 4 years, 14 mos, 8 years, 2.7 years, 3 years and 4 years. (Lots of kids makes it super confusing…they are 33, 32, 28, 27, 23, 22, 14, 11, 8 and 4).

We are having Thanksgiving with my husband’s family on the actual holiday (his mom’s side), then we’ll have T-day #2 at my mom’s on Friday with my stepson and a bunch of mom’s friends, and then T-day #3 with husband’s dad’s side on Saturday. I will probably explode from food at some point.
Ditto on the stuffing. It’s the best.
Last night my husband was watching football at a friend’s house so I hung with my mom and we ordered pizza and caesar salads – delicious!

This year, I’ll be at my Dad’s again. :) We welcome any “orphans” that need some turkey meat and stuffing.
Speaking of stuffing – that’s the part of the meal that I love the most!!
On Sunday night, my Dad took me out to dinner at a newly reopened Italian place near his house. I had strachiatella soup, tons of bread, and shrimp diavolo. SPICY!! Oh yeah, and Baskin Robbins for dessert! ;)
I have two older brothers and we are each 18 months apart. My Mom had her hands full – especially when we all had chicken pox at the same time! :)

My husband and I alternate our sides of the family that we have dinner and dessert with-this year we are eating with my parents and doing dessert with his!:)

My two favorite things about Thanksgiving are stuffing and mashed potatoes (clue that you are a runner – you go straight for the carbs)!! I am 3 and 6 years older than my younger sisters, 6 years younger than my brother, and 8 years younger than my older sister. I love how close we all are despite the age differences! :)

I love homemade rolls!
I made cream of broccoli and red bok choy soup, roasted cauliflower, sliced tomatoes and bacon on the side. Had to have meat somewhere in the meal.
If you like stuffing, u should try the sauasage stuffing recipe from our best bites sometime. Pretty delicious.
Sister thats 15 years older, sister 13 years older, sister 5 years older, brother 16 mos older, and brother 3 years younger. I love having a big family. You always have a friend and lots o’ variety! (And drama and nonsense but hey, no one’s perfect :) )

I eat well on thanksgiving…. first step-grandparents, then mom’s, then grandma’s! I’m most looking forward to my stepgrandpa’s homemade pumpkin pie – made from his homegrown pumpkins!! Sunday dinner was cheese breadsticks. Lots of nutritional value right there:)

We’re having thanksgiving in bald head island at the beach. It’s going to be freezing, but I can’t wait to eat all those yummy foods – especially the broccoli cheese casserole:)

I love Thanksgiving! This year I’ll be cooking ( a small meal) for four people. It’s my Thanksgiving debut so I need to make it good! My favorite Thanksgiving food is green bean casserole.
We are purse twins! Kind of…I have a Classic Hillier Hobo bag. It was a birthday gift from my fiancee. I felt ridiclious accepting it but it’s such an awesome bag and still looks amazing four years later. I allow myself to splurge on a few things…purses included.

I love that bag too. I always have the urge to shop when I’m going through something difficult. I’m going to my aunt’s for thanksgiving. Not too far away. Difficult times make you really appreciate those who love you unconditionally & are always there.
