—————————————————————

Just an early easy 8 miles this morning followed by a nap when Brooke took her morning nap.  Honestly who takes a power nap at 9 am?  Me.

We went up with our friends to Thanksgiving Point to look at llamas.  One of the strangest animals.

IMG 1717

Brooke and her boyfriend riding tractors.  PS what do you think of her jean jacket?  I am in love.

IMG 1733

And a hayless hayride around the area.

IMG 1737

No trip to Thanksgiving Point is complete without a pony ride even.  Best $2 ever spent.  Besides the $2 spent on diet cokes on the way up.  Power nap and caffeine = I am full of energy today.

IMG 1744

We were famished by the time we were done and knew that Olive Garden could fix our problems with their all you can eat soup/salad/breadsticks.  Those breadsticks are straight from heaven.

And the biggest reason to go to Olive Garden:

IMG 1743

We lucked out with a server that gave us a ton of these….not one of those ‘one per person’ kind of a servers.  It is amazing how a little chocolate just makes everything right in the world.

—————————————————-

If you could have $150 towards any race out there….which one would you use it on?

Naps:  love them?  Do you feel more energized after them or just more tired?

Rate your run today on a scale from 1-10 (10 being perfect)!

Hmmm so many race choices!!! It’s hard to say which one!

I LOVE naps and since I work night shift I appreciate the power nap even more!!!

Love Brooke’s jean jacket!

Reply

Naps make me so much more tired!

Reply

LOVE that pink jean jacket!! SO freaking cute.

What a fun afternoon you all had. <3

Reply

If I win, I want to spend it on the Big Sur Relay. I don’t run marathons but I DO want to do the relay! It’s pricy though.

And I need one more team member. Janae??? :)

Reply

I am always SO much more tired after a nap, but it never stops me from taking them! I LOVE OG’s breadsticks! I always eat way too many.

Reply

Looks like you had so much fun! I’m curious … how many naps does Brooke take a day these days? Just curious for the future. Right now, it’s hard to do much of anything fun because Addie naps practically every 2 hours! :)

Reply

Heck yes for morning naps for us momma’s!! We work hard.

I would run the Chicago Marathon next fall!

Reply

I LOVE pro compression!!! I want to do the Disney marathon soooo bad!!!!!..my husband says no way :)…he does not want to go to Disney and be too sore to enjoy it and he wouldn’t want to be on his feet so much before a marathon….kinda makes sense….but I think it would be SO fun!
I haven’t run yet :(…….too much to do this morning and I am trying to go now but it just started to rain! (lovely since the weather says 0% chance of rain!)
I hate naps actually. I can’t sleep that night when I take naps.

Reply

OG b-sticks are the best, especially when you get an alfredo boat and dip them in it! Now I need to go there. :) I haven’t been able to run since last Thursday.. I think I might have pulled a hamstring in my right leg. Any stretching advice?

Reply

Love Thanksgiving Point! Glad you gals had a fun time out there.

I’ve learned to appreciate naps more since becoming a mom. :) I still can’t take crazy long ones otherwise I feel out of it for most of the day, but a power nap always helps me!

Run was a 10 today! It was gorgeous outside and I went with a friend, so it made it flyyyy by.

Reply

I just bought the Chevron Pro Compression socks last week. :)

NYC Marathon!

I love afternoon naps…but if they are too long, I end up sluggish.

Since I did Body Pump today, I will rate yesterday’s run a 9!

Reply

Haha at first I was wondering how Brooke still fit in those pajamas. Jean jacket is beyond adorable- love her hair too. You two always do such fun things.

I can’t do naps- I feel worse after.

My run was good but I think my IT band injury is returning. I’m icing as I type this actually.

Reply

Love her jean jacket too! And I agree with you those mints are the highlight of any Olive Garden trip :-) Naps are what keep me alive right now haha. Sometimes I take two a day and I DONT feel guilty!

Reply

I adore the jean jacket! Today’s run was probably a 6 … any run is a good run, but I wasn’t feeling particularly energized today! And I LOVE naps! Wish they were incorporated into a normal work day :).

Reply

I love my Pro Compression too! Might have to get the new chevron socks???
My run today was a crappy, lifeless 6 miles where I never got in the groove. Yuck!
Love me a good nap but more often than not I wake up feeling worse than I felt before.
Brooke’s jacket is adorbs!!!!

Reply

Lol, Llamas are so damn cute. And ponies. :)

Love my pro compression. I have been needing/wanting more sleeves and recovery socks so great timing :)

I think I would do Big Sur Marathon entry and a Disney Race entry or Nike Women’s Marathon in SF.

Thinking of doing my 6 mi negative split training today…. or yoga.

Reply

I would definitely use some race moolah for the Tiburon Half Marathon. Its a small field in a beautiful area close to home. I’m already planning it for next year!

Naps are da bomb. But I definitely function better after one if I keep it short and sweet. Anything about 40 minutes or so and I’m a zombie the rest of the day.

I had a GREAT pilates class today! Loved it! I’ll go ahead and rate that one an 8.9. (I know that’s not technically a run… but it was my workout for the day!)

Even though I just had lunch, I would now like to have second lunch of Olive Garden bread sticks, salad, and soup!

Reply

I’m doing Tiburon! I got a Groupon for it so it was only 55 or so… much more reasonable. I guess it sold out though… I’ll let you know how it goes

Reply

Oh yeah I saw that groupon too! I hope it goes well for you! And if I volunteer I will be sure to hand you extra orange slices and gatorade.

Reply

Love Brooke’s jacket! Toddler clothes make me ridiculously happy. My 17 m/o is wearing jeans with heart pockets. So cute! Good run, power nap & Olive Garden? Sounds pretty darn perfect!

Reply

At first I thought those chocolates were butter packets for your breadsticks and I felt embarrassingly excited by the thought of all that butter, ahem.

Brooke’s jean jacket is the cutest, glad you girls had a great day! Isn’t Fall just the best??

Reply

Love the Farm at TP. I have a pic of me with each of my kids on the ponies too :)

I haven’t had soup, salad, and breadsticks from Olive Garden in years. It is the only thing I get there. I just haven’t been there in forever. Their breadsticks really are yummy. Maybe the waiter was giving you extra mints for the kids too (I hope you didn’t share if that was the case though ;) ) You need all the chocolate to fuel your runs….and naps. lol. Naps 20-30 min long are perfect (when I can get one) anything longer and I feel groggy and fuzzy the rest of the day.

At this point I don’t even care what race I could put it towards as long as I could friggin RUN a race! My hamstring has felt worse ever since our hike on Saturday. Just when it was finally starting to feel better. Grrrrr.

Reply

I would use it on my marathon I want to run in May 2014 and hopefully qualify for the Boston Marathon in it!

Reply

Brooke is definitely rockin’ that jacket. And I absolutely ADORE naps. I don’t take one every day, but when I’m super tired, nothing puts me in a better mood than waking up from a 15 or 20 minute power nap.

Reply

i love llamas! my friend was visiting his mom in montana recently and sent me pictures from a llama farm. they’re such cute animals! (also, i love brooke’s pink jean jacket. :))

i’m not a big fan of naps because they leave me feeling groggy afterward.

Reply

I’d do Bull Run Run 50 and still have plenty of money left over! I love that race and hope to run the course when we return at Thanksgiving… just for a bit even! Oh, those rolling hills that eat you up! I love them!

I’m 50-50 on naps. Some days I love them and others not. Some days they happen and others they are so far from reality it’s reality.

Reply

I like the idea of naps more than the actual nap. They always leave me feeling a little funky.

Reply

I’m a LITTLE ashamed to admit that I have been known to grab those mints by the handful when they were in little bowls at our Olive Garden. I’m probably the reason the waiters give them out now. . .

Reply

Too many good races to chose from!!!!! I heart Olive Garden’s minestrone, salad, and breadsticks. SO hungry now. I also heart naps!

Reply

I am dying with your pics from olive Garden!! I haven’t been to one in over 3 years and may well plan a flight back to the States for those breadsticks alone. I agree about the pony ride– we always ended our zoo trips in Abu Dhabi with a ride on a pony or donkey– whichever was out that day.

Reply

I love naps. Definitely in my top 5 favorite things.
Did not do my run yet to rate it. Here I motivate 3,2,1….

Reply

Naps are the BEST. I am going to try to run after work today, but it might be more of a walk. We’ll see if my body lets me!

Reply

every time I go to Olive Garden, I make sure to leave an extra tip for servers who give my table extra chocolates to encourage them to continuing doing it. After the bread, they are the best things at Olive Garden.

Reply

I’d register for some of the events at Gasparilla here in FL! Feb 2014 :D

Reply

No question Boston! I’m not a good napper, the most I get is closing my eyes.
My run today was a 10. Recovery run with my friend Amy.

Reply

I didn’t run yet today. Oops. But, I’ll rate your lunch- 10!!!!! :) Love ya! Bring Brooke here so we can show you all our animals!

Reply

I’ve never been able to take naps. Even if I’m super tired, I just can’t fall asleep during the day.
My run today was a 9–would have been perfect but I was hungry and a little foot-sore by the end.

Reply

naps, love them. I would give my run today a 5. I thought my legs were going to fall off. I’d put that money towards any Disney race :D I hate ponies…not sorry about it. Also, I was feeding a llama and he spit the food at me so my instinct was to slap him. I regret the animal abuse, but it’s a great story.

Reply

I can’t take naps! I’ve tried many, many times. I just feel awkward falling asleep during the day! #imweird ;) I like alpacas more than llamas!

Reply

Love Brooke’s jean jacket, and Brooke’s boyfriend! And Brooke! Also love – hayless hayrides, energy that comes from naps and caffeine, and breadsticks. Sounds like today was a great big bucket full of win. Happy Tuesday :)

Reply

I LOVE naps! I take one every day – usually just 30 minutes. Since I wake up most days at 4:30 to run I feel totally justified.
If I had $150 to spend on a race I’d do Rock N Roll Seattle next June. My sister and a few cousins I haven’t seen in 20 years are running it.
My run was an 8 or 9. Only 6 miles but I’m working on my negative splits and my last 3 were faster than my first three. Plus it was in the 60’s this morning which is my idea of running heaven.

Reply

Love naps! Love, love them! But once I found out I was anemic, I realized I did not need to nap as much as I had been. Good to know! Brooke is so stylish in her pink jean jacket!

Reply

Brooke is so, so cute, especially in that jean jacket!

I never nap. Not even when my babies were tiny, except for a few times with #1. I’d rather go to bed early than nap. Of course, working full time gets in the way of naptime anyway. Working ruins all the fun.

And my run this morning? Probably a 7 or 8 during my almost 6 miles. Would have been higher if I wasn’t feeling slightly under the weather. Of course I’m feeling not great just before my 3rd 10k race ever (Saturday).

Reply

I always feel more tired after naps and then can’t fall asleep at night so I try not to. If I had $150 I’d probably pick the most expensive race with sweet swag!

Reply

I love your outfit today! :D where did you buy your boots??

Reply

Love Brooke’s pink jacket — especially with the cuffs rolled up! :)

Reply

I’d put my $150 race entry monies towards Ironman Chattanooga. With a general entry fee of $650, that would take a lot of a sing out of the cost.

I like naps in theory, but I always feel groggy and off the rest of the day.

My run today was about a 6. Not so great, but it wasn’t horrible either. But luck tomorrow I guess.

Reply

I’d wear that jacket if it came in my size ;-) it’s so cute!

Reply

Too many awesome things in one post!! Ponies, Pro Compression, pink jean jackets and naps! OG has the best bread sticks ever. I would use the entry for the Philadelphia Marathon 2014.

Reply

I love your boots that you are wearing in your pics today! And I’m jealous of your lunch!

I would use it for the LA Marathon. I just moved to Santa Monica, so I want to run the LA Marathon since it ends right here.

I love naps!

Reply

Love her jacket! Too cute!
hmmm…I would use it for the Rock n Roll marathon in DC! How fun would that be?!
Naps are the best. As is Olive Garden and all the foods you mentioned in this post.
My run today was a 7. And it was my first run since the marathon so I feel pretty good about that :)

Reply

I love short naps. 15-20 mins is perfect. Any longer than that and I’m completely out of it when I wake up.
Brooke’s jean jacket – perfection!

Reply

Hahahaha I always say that restaurants are automatically 15% better when they give you mints. Always!

Reply

If I won that prize I’d use it for the LA marathon I’m going to enter as my first full marathon, scary!!

Naps always make me feel groggy! Except when my kids were newborns, then I lived for naps.

My run today was a 9, I did an 8.5 mile tempo run and I really rocked it and felt good after, love that.

Yes that jean jacket is too cute for words!!

Reply

Brooke was so tiny and adorable!

I love naps on weekends, but not if I have to get up and do more work/school that day. It makes me feel groggy!

Reply

I would do a Rock n’ Roll race because we all know how expensive those are!! Were you really able to will yourself to just eat ONE Olive Garden breadstick?? PROPS TO YOU.

Reply

Naps: LIVED for them in college. Now, can’t really do it since I work full-time.

Run today: 2 :/ My calves felt so tight. I had to stop and walk a bunch. Not good.

Reply

1) Im not sure, I have never raced before. Im not very fast!
2) I love naps so dearly. I have been working overtime so I never have a chance to nap anymore. Tragic. Sometimes they do make me more tired and just want to lay in bed all day. Why are naps so much better than regular nighttime sleeping? The bed even feels more comfy.
3) I was pretty happy to even get in a run today! I nanny for 3 kids. The oldest was at school and I begged (and possibly bribed) the younger two to go for a run. The 5 year old just took the training wheels off his bike and he biked THREE miles. So awesome. I pushed the 2 year old in her BOB stroller. Alas, I amnly giving this run an 8 because that stroller nearly KILLED me (for some reason it always pulls to the right and I was fighting it the whole way) and it wasn’t long enough before they wer. fussing to go home. It was better than nothing though and I came back a little bit more sane (I no longer wanted to rip my hair out…terrible twos…oh just you wait til little Brooke is there).
PS: sorry for the typos. I can never seem to get the comment box thingy to work properly on my phone and I am also to lazy to try and fix it.

What is in the water over there? Utah ladies are speedy!

I went to Olive Garden the other day with my dad, and I am a bit disappointed! Especially with their breadsticks :( Our first batch was cold, and hard. The second ones were warm, but they seem to be holding back on the garlic! And we didn’t get those mints! Geez, this Olive Garden stinks haha

Pony rides, diet coke, and power naps at 9 am are the definition of a fabulous day.

Reply

Hmmm, just registered for Grandma’s Marathon in June (it’ll be my first). I’d probably use the $$ on some training races between now and then.

Love, LOVE naps. I do a lot of running in the cold MN winters and when I return, there is nothing more wonderful than some stretching, lunch and a long nap. I get lulled into sleep like someone has drugged me, especially after a long run.

Didn’t put on my running shoes today. Spent the day in my work boots shoveling and raking landscape rock. Cardio tomorrow….

Reply

“Thanksgiving Point”?! that sounds glorious. And also makes me want turkey and stuffing. Brooke looks so grown up in that jean jacket!!

Reply

I’ve been enjoying naps lately, and I never used to! I love Brooke’s jean jacket! :) And I agree. Llamas are weird.

xo

Reply

LOVE LOVE LOVE naps! POWER naps, that is! 10-20 minutes is perfect for me to rejuvenate me. I’m so excited about the compression sock/race give-a-way! I’m still in the honeymoon stages with compression socks, so obviously I need more…and as far as races? I’d say the C-bus marathon that is next month, but since i’m still out of running commission, I don’t know which one I’d sign up for! Maybe LA or something in Cali so that I could visit my cousin and run it with her! ;)

Reply

If I could spend $150 on a race, it would either be a Disney race or a Rock ‘N Roll marathon.

Naps are amazing!

My run was a 7. It was a little short for me, my running partner is injured, but we did speed which I enjoy :)

Reply

Naps are the best. I am much nicer when I have had one. I would rate my race a 7. I did farkleks for the first time today. I actually enjoyed speed work much more than I thought, but now that I know what I am doing, I need to push it more when running fast.

Reply

I did 8 quarter-mile-long hill repeats. Daaaang it was great (10/10!).

Reply

I’ve never Worn compression socks- not sure if they would annoy me but would like yo give them a go- is it for a quick recovery??

Reply

My sister and her husband had Olive Garden mints at their wedding because that was where their first date was! We had so many left over that they were in the freezer to eat for months!!

Reply

I really want to run one in Seattle, my homestate!

Reply

Naps tend to mess me up. But then sometimes they are so necessary. Like today, for instance. I kept setting my phone timer for 5 minutes…over and over and over…2 hours later … :/

I’m waiting for some magical cosmic alignment to occur so that you and Catey can both go do the pony rides things AT THE SAME TIME. I think my blogworld would be complete if my two favorites did an activity together…again :)

Reply

I am obsessed with those candies! There was a small BBQ place I went to growing up that sold them for 10cents. I would grab a handful of coins before we went and load up. Best night out ever. I’ve been feeling like poo lately so havent ran since Saturday! I can’t wait to get back out there!

Reply

Did Brooke love the pony ride??

I rarely nap because I usually end up sleeping for hours and then wake up in a horrible mood and no one wants to see that.

Reply

Yay Olive Garden! You know they have endless pasta right now;) I went there last week and didn’t get Andes! I was disappointed.

Reply

Thank you for the compression sleeve discount! I was needing a new pair for Chicago in EIGHTEEN DAYS!!! :)

Reply

If I could have $150 towards any race, it would definitely be Big Sur. :) That’s on my bucket list but I doubt I will ever make it out there to run it (barring some miracle)

I am not a nap person. I just feel more tired after.

My run yesterday was good and short – 4 miles at 8:30 pace. I’m taking it easy this week to keep my legs fresh for my 1/2 on Sunday.

Reply

I would use the $150 to the Big Sur marathon…..or NYC.

Love naps after a hard workout……weekend afternoons at 2:00 p.m. (after lunch) with the TV on – you’ll find me on the couch.

Workout yesterday was elliptical + BodyPump…..I’d say it was a 7.5.

Reply

I would love it for my home state of WIsconsin!!! Thanks

Reply

Aw what a fun day! And I totally remember hoarding those mints when I’d go there for dinner with my family growing up haha.

Reply

Awesome! I need some new socks!

That is my favorite part about the OG – the mints!!!!

Reply

I love naps. I think they are the greatest thing ever.

If I had $150 to go towards any race fee, I would choose something I had to travel for, like Big Sur or New York or MCM. Very exact, huh.

I LOVE naps. As a night nurse, I take naps mid afternoon if I dont work the next night.

I DIDN’T run today! I ran a marathon this weekend (and have a few on the schedule) so I’m still resting until tomorrow.

Reply

If I had $150 to go toward any race fee, I would spend it on the MCM in D.C.!

Reply

Definitely something in California or Colorado…I miss the mountains!!

Reply

I’d like to use the $150 towards Nike Half in DC or the NYCM entry fee I just paid for..that thing was a buttload!

Reply

I would probably use it for the Shamrock half marathon or I have like 18 other races on my list I want to do sooo maybe one of those?!?! TOO MANY CHOICES!! haha
