2 hour bike ride in the middle of the night.

Bangs Friend and I got very creative and took a picture of our shoes after our run. Bet you’ve never seen one of these types of pictures before. We did 8 miles together and never in my life has 8 miles gone by so quickly. We make a good running team.

After some stretching and getting ready we had a baby shower to go to.

DSC 6472

Baked french toast (the thing underneath the whip cream). Please tell me that you have had this before. Breakfast foods are always my favorite because it is a good excuse to eat large amounts of sugar and call it a meal.

DSC 6471

After the baby shower I got together with my mom for some random errands that I needed to get done and before we knew it it was dinner time with my aunt, uncle and cousin.

We always get calamari when we are together.

IMG 1648

For my main dish I had pasta and it was everything that I was craving.

Did you know I joined a bike gang? This is our serious bike gang faces (2 of us biked and 1 roller bladed…she has mad roller blading skills and kept up with the bikers for the entire 2 hour bike ride. Be impressed).

IMG 1661

My two college girlfriends picked me up and we drove to San Francisco to meet up with a large bike gang that rides all over the city Saturday nights. The second best way to see any city is by bike (running is obviously first).

IMG 1660

And the city’s best donuts ever…Bob Donuts. They make them in the middle of the night so us being there at a ridiculous hour was perfect so we could eat the hot and fresh donuts. You know I had an apple fritter.

Today is the day for the best reunion the world has ever seen. I can’t wait.

Tell me three things you are doing today!

Bike riding….love it? How often do you do it?

FAVORITE big city?

What is your Sunday morning breakfast going to be?

Omg that looks so fun!!!!!

You have finally figured out my secret. I only like breakfast foods because you can add as much powdered sugar and whip cream and it’s still a meal. I sit here eating a chocolate waffle topped with whip cream so yeah.

I would say biking at that hour looks like a lot of fun but I can’t bike and I’m a grandma but I am glad you had fun LOL. ;)

Love bike riding! I run triathlons though, so I may be biased.

My breakfast today is going to be bagels. I complained bout wanting some but not wanting to leave the couch and my fuzzy blanket, so by husband just went to get some. He’s so amazing.

Love that donut picture, haha. So cute!

Reply

Love the sign on the donut glass :)

Glad you’ve been keeping busy! It will be reunion time before you know it!

Reply

Work, Run, and Eat! I’m glad you and bangs are having a great time together!

That’s the thing I miss most about big city life: you can find totally awesome things to do at ALL hours! And there is more than one person that lives near you who shares your interests– I still can’t find someone who wants to be a running partner here in England. Everyone is scared when you say “5 miles”… Those donuts look KILLER! Love it!

Reply

Can’t wait for you to be back with Brooke!!

Reply

I’ve heard about that bike ride…it looks amazing! I’m so glad you’ve packed so much fun into this weekend as well! Bet you didn’t expect the rain…we bailed on our hike!!

Reply

I’m pretty sure that’s my justification for loving breakfast foods so much – they make indulging the sweet tooth seem so much more acceptable. And that sign on the donut shop window… lol. Priceless.

Reply

Today, I am up working on homework before the kids wake up, then making breakfast (eggs in a frame + bacon) and going to work for twelve hours. Not too much fun going on today!

I do enjoy bike riding, but I do it so infrequently since I had the kids and I’m too nervous to put them in a pull trailer thing. I went to UC Davis, and if you’ve ever seen it, you know it is bike central! One almost has to have a bike to live there.

Reply

It will be the best reunion ever!!!! She will be so happy to see you, your heart will melt.

Reply

I do really really like bike riding, but I love running…. I often times don’t give it the credit it deserves because I am too busy talking about how awesome running is.
Sunday breakfast was pb and j on English muffin and a hard boiled egg.

Reply

I actually woke up craving eggs. So I made an omelette. It hit the spot but I felt totally weird after since I am a sweet breakfast eater, NEVER savory. I don’t know what happened today lol. I am sure I will go back to oatmeal tomorrow but if a craving strikes, one must honor it.

That bike ride in the night sounds like so much fun!
I love to ride any kind of bike- road, mountain, cyclocross, cruiser, you name it!
I think my favourite big cities are tied between bangkok and Sydney!

Have a great reunion with Brooke!!

Reply

Three things:
Playing with my kids
Long run
Playing with my kids

I think I like biking? A road bike is on my Christmas list!

Breakfast was quinoa, steel cut oats and cinnamon.

Have a wonderful reunion with your little girl! It will be brilliant!

Reply

I love breakfast food!!!! Bike riding at night sounds adventerous!!! I am not a bike rider…I will go with my kids some but no serious bike riding here.
Today I am doing church, blogging and some cleaning!
So excited for your reunion! :)

Reply

that french toast looks AMAZING! I’ve never tried it baked before.. hey you had fruit so it counts as healthy :) That bike ride group looks so fun.. I like to bike ride but don’t really have people to go with or the time usually so it gets pushed back because i’d rather run. You’re roller blading friend has me missing that now.. man I used to love roller blading.. might have to dust those off soon.

So happy you get to see Brooke today- looks like you had good people to get you through the weekend.

My fave big city is San Fran, I had an omelet, strawberries, and an asiago cheese bagel for breakfast.

Reply

Pittsburgh is my fave big city. I grew up there for a while, and it’s such a special place beyond my memories. The good-at-the-heart people, Andy Warhol, LaFeria’s, all of the Greek restaurants, the Point, Duquesne womens BB (shout out to my neighbor who’s on the team!), the Cathedral of Learning, etc.

Today I’ll be: hanging with my in-laws, looking for free stuff on Craigs List, and maybe doing a Costco run.

Reply

Biking all of over the city at night sounds so so fun!! I am sidelined from running so I’m just hanging out today – going to pick up my husband after his run and probably clean around the house. Pretty slow Sunday. Have an amazing reunion with Brooke!! She will be so happy to see you!!

Reply

All that food looks amazing! Sounds like a great time. I’m so happy for you to be reunited with Brooke! I hate being away from my babies.
-3 things for today: sort through old baby clothes, maybe take the kids to the zoo, and hopefully get some me+kindle time maybe at Starbucks
-It’s probably sad but I honesty haven’t ridden a bike in YeARs….like 15
-My favorite city is actually Venice, Italy (we lived in Germany for 2 years so traveled Europe quite a bit). But in the US, I’d say Boston.
-And I’m about to make some pillsbury cinnamon rolls and scrambled eggs.

That bike ride looks like SO much fun! I love to ride my bike and don’t do it near enough. My favorite city is New Orleans-but that’s because it’s home. And I’m embarrassed to say that I slept late this morning and when I woke up starving I had diet coke and 4 chocolate chip cookies. Dang sugar….
I’m super happy for your reunion today! It is always the best to be reunited with your child!!

Reply

Critical Mass!! I love running into them when I’m in the city, they always jam up the traffic but I love it anyways because it looks so fun. I hope you had a good time!

Reply

Yay! A Brooke reunion! It’s so strange not to see a picture of her on your blog! My favorite big city…hmm…I live in Dallas, so there’s that. But I also love NYC. I also love Tel Aviv. So, I have three.

Reply

Unfortunately, I already ate my Sunday morning breakfast. Like, 14 hours ago. Stupid time zones… It was a mixture of the bottom of 3 bags of cereal: Some kind of granola, cranberry crunch something-or-other, and frosted mini wheats (albeit only, like six). I’ve had better combinations, honestly.

How big is “big”, as cities go? My favorite city is probably Vancouver, but overall, it’s actually a pretty small city. My favorite REALLY big city is London. So much to do/see/explore!!!! But, I’m a sucker for New York City, and spent many years visiting Los Angeles, so both of them hold a dear place in my heart. Then, of course, there’s San Fran, which has pretty much perfect weather and great running spots. *sigh* So many cities, so little time…

Reply

I love Bobs! They do have the best donuts in the world. When we went there they were having a contest, whoever could eat a gigantic donut in 5 minutes won and didn’t have to pay. One man finished his in 2 minutes, the rest of the people did not finish in 5 minutes and looked really sick.

Reply

I am doing NO things today because I am sick. :/

I haven’t been on a bike in years! Looks like fun!

Have fun with your Brooker later! :)

Reply

I went to a donut place in Missouri that made the donuts in the middle of the night too! Genius. I’m really glad you made the most of your weekend and today’s reunion is going to be even sweeter than all of the desserts in the world combined. Have a great sunday janae!

Reply

Today I am going for a walk with Elmo, getting chocolate at a local chocolatier, and spending time with my mom. I’d have to say my favorite big city is Philadelphia, but it may be because it’s the only bigger city I’ve been to!

I have to say breakfast is the best food group. It’s never a bad thing when chocolate chip pancakes doused in syrups doesn’t need to be justified and is acceptable as a meal. :D

Reply

That bike ride sounds like it would be really fun…so glad you have such great friends to spend time with this weekend!

Reply

Church, Barbacoa for lunch, and small group is on the agenda for today! SO excited you got to be reunited with little Brookers this evening! That will be the best.

There was a donut shop like the one you’re describing near my college, and they would make donuts at midnight. We’d go down there right after they were freshly made at obscene hours of the night. They were SO worth it though!

Reply

Tell me three things you are doing today!
Drink coffee, spend time with my nephew and be lazy:)

Bike riding….love it? How often do you do it?
I did when I was younger and now its been years since I have been on one.

FAVORITE big city?
NYC!!!

What is your Sunday morning breakfast going to be?
I had a pumpkin spice english muffin with pumpkin spice coffee:)

So glad you will be reunited with Brookers soon!

Reply

I’m actually on my way to San Fran! We decided to be crazy spontaneous and take our kiddos to their 1st NFL game. Love the 49ers! I’m also lesson planning and bible studying on the way there!
I’m eating a Larabar and banana for breakfast. Stupid GI issues :(
I love biking. We biked and swam twice last week.
I really like Seattle and Dallas but I haven’t been to NYC yet.

Reply

Haha! That looks like a blast! I got a bike for college but haven’t used it all that much yet… although I’m sure that will change! ;)

Reply

A freaking bike gang! I’m so so jealous and way impressed with your roller blading friend. That is intense!

Reply

OK…So I had nachos and Captain Morgan/Diet Coke for supper last night so this morning I told myself breakfast had to be healthy…… I cooked up some liver, beets and a tomato with sprinkles of green olives….YUM! (But, only to me, the rest of my family about choked! ha!)

Reply

i’m so excited for your epic reunion today! have a wonderful sunday :)

Reply

I love exploring a city on my skates! There are regular organised skates around London that I love and I hope to join the Paris one one day.

Jealous of the donuts!

Reply

That bike ride group looks like lots of fun!

Reply

Such a fun weekend! Your bike gang faces are priceless.

Reply

I am so glad you had so much fun yesterday! The bike riding sounds like a blast. When I lived in southern california I rode my bike everywhere, work~grocery store~etc, everywhere and it was the best shape I ever have been in. We have a Sunday tradition of donut breakfast :) my recent favorite is their pumpkin donut. This weekend I’ll be knitting a couple of hats for some friends that are moving to a cold state:) Can’t wait to see pictures of you and Brooks reunion :)

Reply

You make a really scary bike gang! I can imagine how you looked at your students when they didn’t behave ;)

My favorite big city is New York! I am so excited to go there in one month!

Reply

I am impressed by skate girl! Sounds so fun.

Help kids with projects, learning lines for play try-outs and run.

Breakfast = greek yogurt + homemade banana bread (yum)

*Your baby girl is going to be CRACKER-DOGS when she sees you.!!!

Reply

I’m definitely with you on why breakfast is the best -plus nutella is a perfectly acceptable breakfast food ;-)
Today I went to boot camp, I will be doing laundry, and going to my parents for dinner.

Reply

This morning I had pumpkin spice m&ms waffles….which fits in perfectly with your reasons to love breakfast ;) I live biking but don’t get to do it nearly as often as I’d like. Your biker gang looks really hard core and awesome.

Reply

looks like you are having so much fun!!!

Reply

Your friends seem like so much fun! I want to get a road bike or a beach cruiser. It’s good exercise! On my mission I was in a biker gang of sorts…

Favorite city? Seattle! I grew up in a suburb outside of it and I loved it.

I didn’t have breakfast today because I was running late to church. Typical me! But they had cookies in relief society so I guess that counts as my breakfast?

I love your blog! You are awesome. I am sad I didn’t discover it until I moved away from Provo. I bet we could have been good friends. ;D You and Brooke will just have to visit Raleigh, NC! It’s a great city too!

Reply

I ran 10 miles this morning, going to get some delicious fro-yo this afternoon, and did a blog post!

Breakfast a delicious egg sandwich (gluten free and dairy free, but not flavor free!!) – there’s a picture of it on my post for the day.

Reply

I’m jealous you got to go to Bob’s. I still fondly recall the best donut I ever had — freshly made glaze — there. I haven’t been back to SF in a couple of years, but you bet that when I return I’ll get a donut there and go for Mexican chocolate ice cream at Mitchell’s.

Speaking of donuts, that was my breakfast. It was no Bob’s donut though…

Reply

The bike gang is such a fun idea! I love incorporating fitness into the time I spend hanging out with friends. It’s a win-win :-) P.S. wish I was eating that baked french toast right now… Holy yum.

Reply

LOVE bike riding! Love breakfast food too. My favorite meal! This morning it was pb toast and banana. I eat it everyday. My favorite big city is NYC since it’s the only one I’ve ever been to… 3 things: walk with mom, football practice, and watching the Tigers!

Reply

Paris is hands down my favorite big city. Nothing else comes close for me. Even though there aren’t APPLEFRITTERRRRRRRS there (which is criminal) they have a lot of other amazing things to try and make up for it.

I like biking for fun but not so much for cross-training. And biking at night definitely gets two thumbs up!

Wish I could see your face and Brooke’s when you reunite :)

Reply

So jealous of the bike tour!! Looks awesome – I definitely would have rollerbladed though :)

Reply

LOVE that bike gang photo! your face is so priceless :)

for today..
1. ran my first marathon! officially hooked. i was reading all your race recaps last night for inspiration :)
2. sleeping
3. eating
can i have 4? more sleeping :)

Reply

Congratulations on your first marathon!!! :D Enjoy the post-race feeding.

I don’t think I have rode a bike since high school and I am a little scared to try! I take spin classes all the time but I don’t think I could ever do a triathlon because I would be scared of the bike. But that looks like a lot of fun!

Reply

That “don’t tap on the glass, it scares the donuts” sign actually made me LOL… in the middle of the Earth Fare café. People are staring. But I’m still high from my 10-mile training run, so I don’t mind. :)

Reply

I ran, drank coffee, and now it’s on to homework! Got a speech to practice… :S Oh how I love college. :P

Bike riding is fun. But I don’t usually do it. Last time I rode my bike was a couple weeks ago with my Aunt, we rode for like 2 hours and that was the longest I’ve ever biked in my life. But it was along amazing trails!! :D

I had eggs and toast! I never do that, it’s always sweet breakfast. However, I’m hungry again… oh running… Might be an early lunch.

Reply

Not a fan of bike riding.. I went to Portland a few months ago and really loved it! But, I’m going to go with Pittsburgh because it’s my home town :) Today.. church, cleaning, baking. woo! Those mid night donuts look awesome! Perfect fuel for biking :)

That bike ride looks like so much fun! I don’t have a bike but my dad is big into riding so he’s looking for a bike for me. I can’t wait! My favorite big city is Chicago. Of course I haven’t been out to the west coast since I was like 10 so maybe I would change my mind if I did!

Reply

Night bike rides are the best! I love them so much!

Three things I’m doing (or have done) today:
Church
Playing for choir practice
Watching footbal
Eating my weight in chocolate cake (okay, that one is just wishful. I don’t have any chocolate cake.)

Reply

oh my gosh those donuts — i would run, bike, crawl — in the middle of the night for those! and i’m not even a huge donut fan. they look amazing.

Reply

I had pb toast, 1/2 a banana and coffee before my half marathon today! It was SUCH a beautiful day here for a race! And now hubby and I are craving donuts…thanks! ;)

Reply

1. 18 mile run
2. Big breakfast of eggs, bacon, potatoes and pancakes.
3. Football!
I cross train on my bike every Monday in my livingroom
Favorite big city, hands down Boston.

Reply

1. Running (on treadmill)
2. yoga
3. Dying my hair a darker color. (Getting my war paint on for this meeting I am not looking forward to this week. Dark hair makes me feel feistier.)

Reply

I love the bike gang!! Roller blading for 2 hours is insane. She had to cover at least 20 miles! Three things today… brunch with my little brother who is in town, running with my dog for the first time ever (she just turned one), and using my crock pot for the first time in months! I really enjoy biking, I get nervous I’ll tip over because of the heavy traffic around here. Favorite big city = DC. I live in it and it makes me happpy.

Reply

i used to do that in philly! we’d bike at midnight and get fresh-baked soft pretzels. heaven :]

Reply

Your friend has some serious rollerblading skills. That ride sounds like fun!

Reply

That bike gang picture is seriously cracking me up! Just what I needed this Monday morning.

Reply

That scary face is seriously SUPER SCARY. Not really, but it made me smile, lol

Reply

SF is my home and my favorite big city! Biking can be a little scary here though! I guess the middle of the night would be safer :)

Reply

SF is an amazing city!

Today I’m making chili, watching a movie and going for a hike!

That is an awesome bike riding pic of you girls! I hate bike riding, so my goal this summer was to do it more, LOL!

Omg a biking gang tour, I love it!!
