Goosebumps while running and something you should do with your life today.

These mountains just give me the goosebumps (even though it in fact was a trillion degrees this morning) when I stare at them during my run.

Reason #392 that I love BLUEBUDS X:  I can use them to talk to my brother on the phone while I run.  They have a magic microphone somewhere in the headphones so I can chat away while I run… who needs running partners when you can just talk away on the phone.  I did 7 miles at an 8:17 pace.  I took yesterday off so today my legs took about 3 miles to remember how to run again.

I have to tell you about the breakfast that I had yesterday with my mom and brothers.

DSC 5435

Just imagine eating a a bowl full of the best hash browns you have ever had topped with sautéed veggies and then topped with eggs and avocado.  Let’s just say it was amazing.

Last night (yes, this post is all over the place) I spent time in the backyard eating ice cream with Curly (still calling her Curly even though her hair isn’t quite as curly as it used to be).

IMG 0536

I had this kind of ice cream and if you do one thing with your life today, go to the grocery store and buy this.

IMG 0539

Oh and how did I forget about this….

Her newest thing is climbing in/on top of/over ever thing in the house.  Quite the adventure seeker.

I had froyo yesterday – they had a carrot cake flavor that was amazing! I like to talk when I run because I feel like it makes it go by a lot faster! I usually run solo though :)

Reply

I have been really wanting to try that flavor….might have to go today!

Reply

Favorite flavor of froyo and ice cream will always be anything coffee flavored: cappuccino, mocha, or just plain coffee. Just doesn’t get better than that :)
I had two breakfasts this morning: one of a banana with almond butter and honey and almonds on the side (I’m a bit of an almond fanatic), and the other of scrambled eggs.
I like talking if the person running with me is fun to talk to and not going to argue with me on everything lol I’ve had that happen, and it defiantly is a tiring run. But there are times where I just need to run by myself, you know, get some thinking time for me.
Love that picture of Brooke, she is going to be a funny kid!

Reply

Brooke is too cute!!!! The last ice cream flavor I had was cookies n cream!

Reply

Brooke is getting so big! Too cute :) .

Reply

birthday-cake ice cream yummmm!

cereal and almond milk for breakfast. simple, but still good. okay, maybe some baby caramel rice cakes on the side…

no talking for me… i wheeze too much, no matter how fit i am, hahahaha!

only ran about a mile with my dad before playing catch, BUUUUT biking about 17 miles.

Reply

I did 5 miles already then layer I’m doing 6 with my hunk of a boyfriend and the kiddos. I had some Amazing oatmeal and cherries this morning!

Reply

I’m always amazed that you talk to people on the phone when you’re running. I mean, I’ll run with people and talk then, but I feel like there’d be so much heavy breathing on the phone.

I once babysat for a kid that must have been going through the same phase as Brooke. We played hide and seek and I was freaking out because I couldn’t find him. Turns out he was under the cupboard in the bathroom.

I ran 7 miles today.

Reply

Cookies and Cream!

Breakfast was on the go….a Kashi bar.

No running today :(. I did bodypump though!

BTW, is there carpet in the cabinet? Has it been made comfortable for climbing into? :)

Reply

I love to talk while running!

Brooke looks guilty in that photo haha

Reply

Hahaha it totally is her guilty face!

Reply

Aww Curly and Brooke are the cutest!!
The last kind of ice cream I had was vanilla- but I added a graham cracker and melted peanut butter- so good!!
After my 7.5 mile run (which is a long run for me!) I had oatmeal with strawberries and chia seeds. It was so delicious I don’t know why I never put strawberries in my oatmeal before!

Reply

WENDY’S FROSTY!!!!! it was amazing. and also, goosebumps while running (i get this sometimes at the end of a marathon) are a sign of dehydration or extreme fatigue… http://www.runnersworld.com/running-tips/ask-coaches-goose-bumps-and-chills-warm-weather-marathons so be careful if you actually do get them!

that picture, so cute its as if she is doing nothing wrong!

What a little monkey! So cute :)

Reply

Brooke is SO cute! last flavor was mint chocolate chip, its been my obsession of the summer :)

Reply

Mountains give me goosebumps too – absolutely love them. And no run for me today, but I walked about 300 ft. to get coffee if that counts ;)

Breakfast this morning was oats with almond butter and honey, and the last flavor of ice cream that I had was mint chocolate chip. I’ve been on a serious mint chocolate kick lately, and that flavor might just replace vanilla as my favorite.

Reply

I really hate to talk while I run besides the occasional words while racing. My best conversations are with myself while running.

Reply

Last flavor of ice cream (or froyo or sorbet) that you had? Ben & Jerry’s Chocolate Mint Cookie (I think that’s the name. I was too busy eating it!)

What was your breakfast this morning? 1 slice wheat toast w/peanut butter.

Do you like talking while you run or would you prefer not to? Not to. I have all I can do to stay upright!

How far did you run today? I haven’t yet but plan to run on the dreaded tm to do my 5×400 training for the half I’m going to run on 9/22.

Have a great day!

Reply

Brooke is adorable! I should show you the picture I have of my daughter sitting in the bottom oven drawer when she was one…and no, it was not on. :)
Last flavor was homemade peanut butter with choc chips…delish! I recently splurged on one of those Cuisinart ice cream makers that only takes 20 minutes to make. Totally worth it!!
This morning I ran 6 miles and then had yogurt with granola for breakfast. The sun is out today (after raining all day yesterday) so we are going to the splash park when my daughter wakes up! :)

Reply

Looks like Brooke found a good hiding place for hide-and-seek!

Reply

Last ice cream was at the bottom of a Hawaiian shave ice – my new favorite way to eat it!

Breakfast was a strawberry/banana smoothie.

It depends on how hard the run is – I’d rather not talk if I am gasping for air which is kinda what happened today. 6 miles, 3 up, 3 down, over 900 feet of elevation gain in those 3 up miles. It was tough, but I felt great when it was over!

Reply

Last ice cream I had was cherry – I normally hate cherry stuff but this was good and had big cherry chunks in it.

I talk to my 7 month old when I run so he knows I’m still there, does that count?

Oatmeal with blueberries for breaky for me.. but that hash brown salad looks awesome.

Reply

I… I cant remember the last ice cream I had and that makes me desperately sad!

This morning I had no breakfast. I really really FOR REALS have to get better at eating breakfast.

I talked today running with a friend but hes much fitter than me so I was DYING puffing. I like talking on my easy runs, not so much on the toughies.

4 miles or so, probs 4.5 :)

That picture of Brooke is hilarious. It reminds me of a picture I got of the little boy I used to nanny. He somehow got himself stuck under a bookshelf.

Reply

Brooke is so precious! I see she is getting to that age where she starts to get into everything! That peach ice cream looks amazing – I cannot bring ice cream into the house or the entire carton will be gone in about 10 minutes.

Reply

That is a beautiful view for your morning runs! We have Turkey Hill Double Dunker ice cream in our freezer right now – mocha ice cream, cookie dough AND oreo cookie pieces. Pretty darn good! I love eating avocados on my eggs (and pretty much everything else!), so add in some hashbrowns and cheese, and I’ll be a happy girl!

Reply

Last night I had Mackinac Island Fudge. Best flavor ever! Breakfast was a bowl of oatmeal. Wish it was yours!! I like talking while running but only in person. I didn’t run today but I walked 3 miles with mommy. I might be running a 15k on Saturday so I gotta rest them legs!

Reply

If I’m with a friend running, we’re talking constantly the whole time! It makes the time go by so quickly!!! If I’m by myself, I try not to talk out loud- but I do a lot of talking to myself, and God! There’s a constant stream of conversation in my head………

Reply

I love those mountains!

This may be the first run you’ve done in awhile I would have been able to do with you. So speedy!

I had cheesecake, chocolate caramel, and milk chocolate ice cream all in one cup yesterday. It was delicious.

Reply

I was just writing about Utah in my post for today! Even though we lived in Logan, I was writing about southern Utah and our honeymoon…

I had chocolate ice cream two weeks ago! Yum!

My parents have a photo of me in a very similar position in a cabinet as Brooke, except I’d somehow climbed up into the next shelf and couldn’t get down! HaHa!

Reply

Last flavour of ice cream I had was a bite of the boyfriend’s chocolate chip cookie dough. Pretty sure I’d have to pick that one as my favourite!

Reply

May I recommend the mango sorbet from haagen dazs? That is my favorite and it’s perfect. That is all. ;)

Reply

There is no flavor of froyo that I don’t like!

Reply

When we were in niagara falls in june, I got goosebumps when I ran next to the falls.

Monday we had Bruster’s. I had black raspberry chocolate chunk. In a waffle cone. Yum. I may have have a raspberry Greek yogurt bar since then but I’m not sure.

Breakfast: hubby made me a caramel latte. Love him.

I don’t like talking or even having a running partner. I like that few minutes of my own to be my own.

I haven’t run yet today, but planning an easy 3 miles tonight after hubby gets home from his dinner meeting and then 2 miles speed work tomorrow morning.

Reply

I’m running the Niagara Falls 10K and reading this makes me really excited!

Reply

Last flavor I had was a peach sorbet POPSICLE! It was so delicious!!! I love the Haagen Daas peach sorbet too. I used to splurge and spend like $5 a pint at the convenience store on campus when I was in college.

Reply

Brooke is so cute, can’t get over that adorable little adventure seeker.

Breakfast was a homemade sandwich. Throw turkey sausage in the microwave, quick egg whites in my small skillet (I have a mini skillet, like size of your hand which is perfect for quick small eggs for one), a slice of cheddar and a thomas’s bagel thin…perfection in about 5 minutes.

Reply

Breakfast this morning was nuts and dried fruit. I wasn’t feeling well, so had a small breakfast after I got to work. I cannot talk while I run! I’ve been walking with a friend because I cannot run right now, and it’s crazy how out of breath we are because we’re talking so much while we’re walking!

Reply

I usually only like ice cream that has at least some chocolate in it, but I recently tried the Ben and Jerry’s frozen greek yogurt in Strawberry Shortcake and I loved it!

Reply

I need to add those headphones and that peach sorbet to my list of things that I need right NOW :)

Reply

Are you still in Utah? You should come to Outdoor Retailer! Brooke can get in with her cute looks alone :)

Reply

I’ve missed seeing pictures of Curly! Between her and Brooke, you’ve got the cuteness market cornered!

Reply

It depends on how fast I’m going if I want to talk or not haha. On easy runs you can’t pay me to shut up ;-) last flavor of ice cream was cake batter!

Reply

I had sea salt caramel froyo last…SO good! My breakfasts are usually boring…plain oatmeal!

I like to talk when I run, but my runs are on hold for a while!

Reply

I’m so jealous of those headphones! Love that little guilty face!

Reply

I am in awe of anyone who can talk and run, no matter what my pace is I cannot for the life of me talk during a run!

Last flavors of icecream were nutella, cookies and raspberry. Yum!

Reply

The last ice creamy thing I had was a banana gelato chocolate bar. To die for.

I run with my BFF, so it’s ALL about talking. We’re shocked that we can spend so many hours together and not run out of things to talk about. It truly is therapy in all forms.

I had a green chia smoothie for breakfast. Which only held me over until about 10:30 so then I had a second breakfast/snack of an apple and peanut butter.

Reply

Chobani. Like pretty much every morning. Thank you Costco where is that breakfast place? We’re in Provo and I’m pretty sure I need to try it.

Reply

I don’t know how you talk when you run! That’s a skill.

I ran 5 easy miles today. After getting quite a few hard workouts in this last week, I needed easy. I’m doing The Giants Half Marathon in SF on Sunday, so now I need to rest up my legs so that I can try to PR!

Reply

5 miles today…..That breakfast looks so good!
Last ice cream was probably a swirl from Costco!

Reply

I don’t like talking when I run but I do sing a lot..
7 this morningg

Reply

I ate the same tub of Haagen Daas last night! SO GOOD!

Breakfast this morning was greek yogurt, blueberries, strawberries, and a sprinkle of granola.

I ran 3 miles after a 30 min weights session because that’s all my 8.5-months-pregnant body would allow. I can’t wait to run 10 milers again whenever I feel the urge and to RACE again!

I don’t like talking when I run and I don’t like running with others… I am normally a very social person though lol!

Reply

4 mile run and 1 mile cooldown walk! Perfect running weather: low 60s, cloudy :)

Reply

I had chocolate/peanut butter twist froyo last night topped with butterfingers, marshmallows, pretzels, and chocolate syrup! I’m not really sure if I could keep up a conversation while I’m running. Plus, my running/workout time is “me” time, so I’m not sure if I’d like it! My run today was ONE MILE. After 6 surgeries, I’d say that’s a win.

Reply

I had such high hopes for the HD Banana Split ice cream that I bought a little while ago and sadly it only tastes like the cherry on top! My least favourite part of a banana split — sadness.

No running for me until tomorrow evening when I see my chiro. Serious leg pain going on over here :(

Reply

I tried this new froyo place the other night and there were these spouts where you could have one flavor or the other, OR you could choose the middle button and swirl two flavors together. I swirled blueberry and cheesecake. I can’t believe the amazingness of these two flavors being swirled wasn’t invented sooner. Breakfast was yogurt, cantaloupe, and some toast! Today was a non-running day… slowly coming back from injury and reminding myself to take it easy when its not feeling so good to avoid two big steps backwards in recovering! But, I do like talking when I work out. :) I use the phone to catch up with friends sometimes on the elliptical and I like to sing to myself when running if that counts. :)

Reply

Last icecream- So Delicious!’s Cookies & Cream ice cream made with almond milk. Amazing!

I like to talk with a running partner (my husband and I don’t even bring music when we run together, we just talk the whole time. Or I talk and he listens. Same thing.) I hate when people call me while I’m running though! I feel as though they should have ESP and just know when I’m running and not call me… :)

Recovering from a slight injury, so I’m only running 2-3 today. :(

Reply

It has obviously been FAR too long since I’ve had ice cream since I don’t remember the flavor I had! YIKES! I do know it was froyo, and the reason I don’t remember the flavor is probably the fact that the froyo is often an excuse to get all those toppings in my belly! Hello, gummies, chocolate, peanut butter, oreos! I mean come on!

Reply

I had Baskin Robbin’s Oreo’s and Chocolate Ice Cream….it was the July Flavor of the Month. August’s F.O.T.M is Caramel Oreo something or other….I may have to give that a go. :)

Protein shake and Cadbury mini eggs. I think that is a balanced breakfast?

Prefer not to talk (gasp) while running.

Reply

Talking on the phone while running is genius. Why haven’t I thought about that for when I have no running buddy?!

Curly is too, too cute (and so is Brooke!).

Reply

Last ice cream was birthday cake, and I just had it, it was lunch’s dessert. Ymmmm.

Breakfast was cake donut, assorted melons, and orange vanilla yogurt. Also ymmmmm.

Reply

Where did you get that breakfast. Looks so good. I need to go there!

Reply

The last flavor of ice cream I had was a mix of salted caramel and butter pecan YUM.

I just got back from a 6 mile run–it was brutal!

Reply

Carrot Cake from Yogurtland!

I have that sorbet in my fridge now! So good

Reply

Last ice cream I had was breyers Samoa. SO GOOD! I’m not running today but I am going to a trx/row/spin class aka I will probably die.

Reply

Curly and brook-cant get much cuter than that! And those eggs look fantastic. Eggs and avocados are meant to be together! I had 2 hard boiled eggs and an oatmeal bar for.breakfast today-can’t get much more glamorous than that. Lol.

Ross made homemade vanilla ice cream last weekend. You know, the kind with heavy whipping cream and sweetened condensed milk-the good stuff. We added some raspberries from our garden too. Mmmmm.

No running today.. stupid hamstring. Did turbo at the gym this morning instead.

Is there a time when I DON’T like to talk?! ;)

See you soon!

I love the Murdock Canal Trail. Glad to see you getting the opportunity to use it while you’re here. I love how many people are out there enjoying it. It feels totally safer than Provo Canyon Trail to me. Now if I can just figure out how to be as speedy as you then I would be able to be a running partner once in awhile when you come visit. Well…..only in my dreams. Love you :)

Reply

Rest day today, 10 mile training run tomorrow! Last ice cream was Slow Churned salted caramel pretzel.

Reply

I’m a chatty runner for long, easy ones and long rest portions of interval work. Tempo or intervals are all biz.

Mocha maca crunch! Also served as breakfast. I was pretending I was back in college ;-)

That ice cream/sorbet looks amazing!!
Happy August!! :)

Oh, you can call me anytime during your runs :)
I wish I had head phones like that! I could totally multi-task!

Reply

No run today. My foot has been hurting this week, so I took a step back. Hoping that I don’t have to sit out too long, because I’m training for my first 50 mile trail race!!

Reply

I had a zucchini waffles this morning. Half with biscoff and the other with Honey Butter melt. So good!

Reply

Chocolate/Vanilla swirl ice cream last night and I plan on having the same tonight :). I actually have ice cream almost every night…Not the best I know, but I run!!!
I really want to get some coffe ice cream next :)
I ran 8 miles today and it was my worst run in a long time….but oh well, that happens.
For breakfast I had cinamon toast crunch….usually I have a luna bar, but I was craving sugar :)

Reply

Some nice people brought about 4 gallons of vanilla and chocolate ice cream to my work today and I had both.

I don’t talk while I run, but I do like to sing out loud. I only do it when I am with people so passersby think that I am just talking and I don’t look crazy.

Reply

Yesterday I had a chi and Red velvet FroYo, It was AMAZING!!!

Reply

I ran 6 miles on a trail in Newport Beach where I’m on vacation and all went well until a Rattlesnake crossed the trail. I was terrified

Reply

Two days ago I had mint and chocolate caramel froyo. Yes, they were both amazing choices. I knew you would want to know :)
I do like to talk while I run. But I also love to listen to someone talk (hence why I love podcasts while running) so I like a running buddy for that too.

Reply

Love! First steps are so exciting. Have you ever made Barefoot Contessa’s ice cream bomb? She uses Haagen Dazs and it’s so good and easy. http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/ina-garten/ice-cream-bombe-recipe/index.html

Reply

I don’t know if I’d want to talk to anyone while I was running – they probably wouldn’t be able to hear anything past the heavy breathing haha!
