I would like to introduce everyone to the 3 J’s.

In 5th grade we met, we became best friends and did everything together.  Everyone called us the 3 J’s because all of our names started with a J and we were kind of connected at the hips.  We even had the same hair cuts.

We were actually really cool as you can tell.

J3

Two of the J’s got together.

90% of you are going to faint when I tell you that we went to a Lululemon and a Whole Foods in Salt Lake that are next door to each other.

I was kind of forced to buy something and when I went to the cash register to pay for my new tank Brooke immediately picked up the pen and started signing her name….I am really teaching her great habits at such a young age.   She sure pays attention to every little thing I do.

IMG 0733

This was my first time experiencing the Whole Foods salad bar and add this delicious food to conversation with one of my two oldest friends and that equals the best way to spend the afternoon.

IMG 0742

My J friend whipped this out after lunch for me to try and it was actually really good (and I am always very skeptical of these types of things but it is something I might buy in the future to eat right before a run or race).

IMG 0746

Salt Lake City is about 45 minutes from my house now and since I was in the area I was very excited to stop by and get the necessities from Trader Joe’s.  Every item in this basket is really the best.

IMG 0748

Next stop was my sister’s house where she was making a crate of pico de gallo.  I don’t know if you can tell how big this container is but there had to have been 10+ tomatoes in there.  You can never have enough pico.  Her husband likes to eat….this made his day.

IMG 0749

And my niece lost both front teeth yesterday.

IMG 0750

You are never going to believe me but this whole meal (plus drinks) costed $2.  My friend took me with her coupon for dinner and can you take a moment to look at her baby’s arms?  Cutest little thing ever.    The orangish dip is called Fry Sauce, a Utah specialty, it is mayo and ketchup mixed together.   Sounds awful but once you try it you will be hooked.

DSC 6106

It is raining like crazy and I am not sure if it is going to keep raining this morning….who wants to bet on whether or not I get to the track to do my speed work or the treadmill?!?

Do you like/eat bars (like the Honey Stinger one above or larabars/cliff/quest etc)?  What kind is your favorite?

Are you still in touch with any of your elementary school friends?

Favorite Trader Joe’s find lately?  How close is one to you?

Who has tried fry sauce before?!?!

I feel privileged when I was one of the 10% that didn’t faint because of the lululemon and whole foods next door ha. ;) I’ve actually never tried whole foods or whole foods salad bar and it’s refreshing that it was only your first time. Though we did just (well a year ago) get a whole foods in my area.

That is awesome seeing childhood friends. I actually went to school in Europe and am not close with any of my friends from back there sadly. Heck, I’ve grown apart from my high school friends but that is a story for another day LOL.

Have a great day Janae!

Oh man mixed mayo with ketchup was the thing to do in high school!!!! I never knew it had an official name!!! Too funny!!!!

Reply

I actually saw a few of my elementary school friends a couple weeks ago at a wedding after about 10 years! It was awesome :)

Reply

I still talk to my elementary friends pretty frequently. There’s just something about people who have known you forever!

Reply

I actually still stay in touch with one of my friends from elementary school. She only lives about 2 hours from me and our kids are close to the same age. We try and get together for a weekend every few months but talk regularly.
I do really like the Honey Stingers after trying one for the first time a few months ago. They were much better than I anticipated but I don’t do any of the other “stuff”. I prefer real food for my fuel.
Love, love, love Trader Joe’s Creamy Almond Butter with sea salt. It is the best and it is only about 20 minutes from me.
Never heard of or tried fry sauce but how can you beat mayo and ketchup together. Sounds like a winning combo to me. :)

I LOVE seeing how babies pick up on their parents’ habits!! My best friend’s oldest son, when he first started talking, he would mimic how my friend yelled at the dog every time it barked–tone of voice, volume, everything. It was the funniest thing and she was always like, “oh my gosh, is that how I sound??!”

I’ve never been to a Whole Foods or tried Fry Sauce, but I am still in touch with all my best friends from childhood. :) the one I mentioned above, we became friends 20 years ago this coming fall and are still just as close as ever!

Reply

I love the peanut butter chocolate chip Larabar. So yummy. And we have a TJ’s that opened two years ago a couple of blocks away from our Whole Foods and it’s only 5 miles from my house. Dangerous.

Reply

I mix ketchup and mayo together all the time-I didn’t know it was legitimate :) Actually if you mix in a little mustard and Worcestershire sauce with that it makes a good crawfish sauce.
I love TJ’s almond butter, there is one in the city I live in but it’s not that close to me, so it’s a special trip.
That picture of Brooke signing her name is awesome!

Hi J,

I love …. I mean LOVE Luna Chocolate Dipped Coconut Bars… try them!! I have one elem. school friend that I keep in touch with.. she’s a gem her name is Kathleen– best friend ever. I’m a lucky gal, trader joe’s is like 2 miles from my house, directly across the street from whole food, life is good… if only Lulumon would come into town, my life would be complete.

Oh.. my fav TJ find, a must have in my home is the Balsamic Vinegar of Modena… I make my salad dressing with it …. 33.8 oz’s of liguid gold.
Love your blog!!!

Ohhh, Fry Sauce . . . you’re making me homesick. And hungry for some Burger’s Supreme!
So fun to get together with elementary friends.
And don’t worry–whenever my little guy sees the credit card machine, he starts begging to “color!” Half the time when I push away from the checkout, he’s still clinging to the pen and I have the forcibly remove it. :)

Reply

My first love was Zone Perfect Cookie Dough Bars, and we are still going strong. Not the absolute-most-healthy-thing-ever, but down right delicious. On a totally unrelated note – your nail polish. It’s like perfection in a color.

Reply

Sadly, no, I’ve grown apart from all of my elementary, junior high, and even the majority of my high school friends! We all went in different directions after college. I’m always amazed by people who are still friends with someone from their childhood!

Reply

My eyes immediately zoned in on those chocolate covered marshmallows in your cart – that was my answer to the question you asked yesterday about favourite chocolate-covered food ;) And when it comes to bars, my allergies [to peanuts] usually get in the way and I can’t eat a lot of the storebought ones, but I do love whipping them up at home. They’re quick, convenient, and delicious… what’s not to love :D

Reply

I like to eat a Luna bar or two pre race and I usually have Clif Shot Blocks for during a race. Depending on the length of the race of course. But that’s my usual endurance nutrition.

Reply

I’ve never tried the Whole Foods salad bar, but I’ve been there all of two times in my life, so I guess it’s okay. Favorite Trader Joes find is their spinach & kale dip. So good! Love the picture of Miss Brooke signing her name!

Reply

Brooke is a shopper in training!

I just tried Honey Stingers for the first time a few weeks ago, and I liked them. I always need something when I’m on my longer runs to keep my energy levels up… I’ve also tried Shot Bloks with good success.

Reply

I do love LaraBars! And I went to TJoes last weekend–it’s an hour and a half away but SO worth the drive. :)

Reply

I’m so excited to go to Trader Joe’s when I am back in the US in October! There is one less than 5 miles from my house there!

In the Netherlands they eat mayo with their fries so my husband and I always get ketchup and mix the 2=the best!

Reply

I did my speed in the rain on Monday and aside from a damp track it was a blast. Try it. You’ll love it.

I love the whole foods salad bar so very much! So delicious.

Reply

That burger looks like the most amazing thing I have ever seen! Even at 7:00 AM! I like honey stinger’s gels – they are one of the few I can eat because I actually like the taste! I haven’t been to a lululemon in a long time!

Reply

I like Vfuel gels for running but I like to snack on coconut cream larabars. So good!
Closest TJs is 10 miles and I love their sunbutter! My girls love their fresh bouquets of flowers so I let them pick one for our breakfast table when we go! Have a good run! I just finished an easy 10 miler with a neighbor.

Reply

I’m still best friends with some girls I met when I was two! And yes, you all look really cool, even compared to me now. I need some of those jeans… haha

Reply

I should really make a huge thing of pico every week like that! we go through anything Mexican like it’s cool… because it IS cool.
You were adorable as a little girl, still the tallest one of the bunch! lol.

Reply

I just bought those chocolate covered marshmallows at whole foods last time I went! I haven’t tried them yet though. I love catching up with old friends. My favorite part is reminiscing about all of the embarrassing things we’ve done. Favorite trader joe’s: COOKIE BUTTER. It tastes amazing on ice cream.

Reply

I have never been to a Whole Foods, Trader Joes, or A Lululemon. Small town problems :( I might need to make a container of pico like that because I have so many tomatoes from my garden I don’t know what to do! Oh I know all about fry sauce. It’s the BEST!

Reply

I am a huge fan of the honey stinger waffles. The lemon is my favorite flavor :)

Reply

I like blueberry or mint cliff bars for snacks! I’ve been thinking of eating them before long runs because I’ve been burning out fast (recently) and I think its because the bagel im chowing down on prior to a race isn’t enough (anymore). Any advice for pre race meals? That wont make you run to the potty during a race? :)

Vanilla almond Luna bars are sooooo good!!! I don’t usually love bars, but these are good!
Some elementary friend yes, thanks to facebook.
I love Trader Joes, but like you it is about 40 minutes from me.
Have a fun run in the rain!!!!

Reply

Kind bars and Raw Revolution bars are my favorites.

Yes, I have several close friends that I have been friends with since elementary school. They are the best!

My TJ’s is 40 minutes away. But I work right down the street from it on Saturday mornings, so I stop by there almost every week. My best find there lately was the Reduced-Guilt Guacamole last weekend. SO good! That poor little container didn’t even make it through an entire day in our house.

Who has tried fry sauce before?!?! Yes! No one here serves it, but we make it at home.

Reply

Hey Janae!! Whole Foods salad bar is awesome, and so are their fresh-made cookies :)

I’ve been running off and on for several years, but recently started training for a half and got SHIN SPLINTS :( Any recommendations to help them go away?

Reply

I still see my friends from elementary school every time I go home to visit. We went to the same schools from kindergarten to high school so we are still very close.

Shopping is a very important skill to learn, so it’s great that Brooke is learning at an early age :)

No TJ’s by my house, but I recently learned there is one in the next town over…I may have to take a trip out there and see what it’s all about.

Reply

that’s awesome that you’re still close with your elementary school friends! i’ve stayed in touch with a few of mine- i still live in the same area so it’s also possible that i run into people randomly! i haven’t been to trader joe’s in wayyyy too long… after seeing your cart i want to go asap!

Reply

Love the picture of you and your friends from 5th grade! :) My oldest friend and I met when we were about 3, and we still keep in touch and get together whenever she comes back to visit (I still live in the same state that we grew up in–NH–but she lives in TX now).

No TJ’s anywhere even remotely near me. I don’t even know if we have one in the entire state!

Reply

I actually have a friend that I’ve known since we were little babes – I’m only about 2 weeks older than she is! We went to daycare from the time we were in diapers to now. She is my best friend, hands down. She is actually getting married in October!
Just had my SECOND Trader Joe’s experience this past weekend, and I’m obsessed with their cookie butter! Dark chocolate covered pomegranate seeds are also pretty amazing. The closest TJ’s to Duluth, MN is about 2 hours away in the Twin Cities – its a tragedy!

Reply

I’ve known one of my closest friends since 1st grade! And I’ve made fry sauce all my life! Something I learned from my dad.

Reply

My BFF from elementary school is one of my bridesmaids :) We’ve been friends for 20+ years! Crazy. I love Luna bars. I have yet to find a flavor yet that I am not obsessed with.

Reply

Try the strawberry Honey Stingers. I think they are better than the vanilla and both of those flavors are better than the chocolate.

Reply

Clif bars!!!!! And larabars of course :) I’m dying to try quest bars though. Mmmm I tried Pico De Gallo for the first time this summer, and I’m hooked, I don’t blame your sister for making so much ;) I’m loving there chocolate right now, orgnaice 85% dark cacao Chocolate, oh yeah, that’s the good stuff :) I use to make “fry sauce” myself and put it on everything!!

Reply

I love the Honey Stinger Waffle and the Orange Chewables. They are great for long bike rides/runs. I eat the heck out of Luna Bars. Lemon Zest is my favorite with White Chocolate Macademia Nut in the clear 2nd.

I see my oldest friend (since 2nd grade) next month. We have stayed in touch for all these years.

The Whole Foods salad bar is amazing!!!! I used to live by one and I hit that up regularly.

You and your friends are too cute! How awesome lulu and wf are right next to each other! Have a great day!!!

Your food always looks so amazing!!

Teaching a girl to shop early is just responsible parenting ;)

My best friend is from elementary school, and I met/dated my husband in middle school. Everyone stays close where I’m from…! :)

Reply

I live 1 city block away from Trader Joe’s. In fact, I start and stop my runs there and in the winter did laps around it and called it the Trader Joe’s 10k. I also live 2 blocks from a whole foods but I can’t stand shopping in there so I never do.

I never eat on my runs–I’ve always felt like I did this to lose weight, so eating while I’m doing it is kind of counterproductive… During a marathon this is not the soundest policy but I survived.

Reply

Larabars and Think Thin bars are my favorite. But I cannot get Think Thin ones here so I always stock up when I go to the States.
I am in touch with 2 friends from elementary school still :)
Nope, sadly no Trader Joe’s in Canada but I LOVE their salad bar!

Reply

Oh I didn’t know how lucky I was! Where I live there are TJs everywhere! I think there are like 8 within 40 minutes of me so I’m never far from one.
That’s funny, I live nowhere near you but it’s been pouring here all last night and this morning too. I’m actually looking forward to running in the rain today :)

Reply

I love Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods. TJs has an awesome pre-made salad with quinoa, wheatberry, arugula, sweet potatoes, goat cheese, etc. So good! And I can never go in there without getting a bag of chocolate covered pretzels!

Reply

I can actually say in FULL truth that I have never been to a LuLuLemon store and don’t really care to. Maybe some day but right now… I’m down with Outlet Malls, Dicks Sporting Goods, and my all time favorite: TARGET.

Those Honey Wheat Pretzels are delicious!!

Reply

I have never been to Lululemon either…I don’t even know how to pronounce it!

Reply

LOL love that!

Two front teeth in one day…. wow! Trader Joe’s is about 45 mins from my house and I usually make a point to swing by every other week. If you’re a coffee drinker, which I don’t think you are, try the cold-brew coffee. I’m going to try that peanut vinaigrette next time I’m there.

Reply

What is your sister’s recipe for pico de gallo? Looks like she puts white onion and green onion in it? I need to make some, I have a lot of tomatoes to use up.

Reply

I have never been to a LuLuLemon store…but I really think I should go and check it out.

I really like Picky Bars…they taste great :).

I am still close with a small group of old friends and I am going to visit one next weekend!

Is that Minestrone soup in your TJ’s basket? Have you ever tried the chocolate cats cookies? They are so good :).

Reply

Looks like a fun day! I would love to have a lululemon and Whole Foods next door to each other! What did you get at lulu?

Reply

I really like larabars, but don’t have them too often. I made some of my own and they were actually much better than the ones I bought. I’ve literally not been to Trader Joe’s in YEARS because there isn’t one here, but they are opening a location here on October 11th. I started a countdown, no big deal.

Reply

Definitly stay in touch with 2 of my bff’s from age 4 on.

I have had mayo and ketchup ( I think it’s a dutch thing?)
But I also LOVED sweet and sour sauce and ketchup from Mcd’s as a kid… that’s a good combo!

Reply

I live in Canada-land, so no Trader Joes reasonably close by. Closest one is in Rochester, NY which is a good 4 hour drive from my place. I do bribe my friends and family to get me my fave items if they happen to be close to one though!

I really only eat Clif bars and Honey Zinger items – that is it!

Reply

I eat Fiber One bars. Not really that classy, but really delicious. I want to get on the protein bar bandwagon, but both the Whole Foods and the TJ’s are so far away from me, and off the most annoying highway in the country, that I just can’t make myself go there.

I haven’t seen most of my elementary school friends in a while, but when we do reunite it is amazing. I am still best friends with my middle school best friend though – I’m actually in her wedding next year!

Oh and we have fry sauce in Louisiana too. We call it Cane’s sauce.

Reply

My two best friends from elementary are still my two best friends today. A lot of friends came and went in between but they have been there ALWAYS. It’s nice to know.

still in touch with two good friends from elementary school! i think Gu is the best way to go for fuel. it’s just easy and small and done in no time.

I am still in touch with a few of my closest friends from junior high/ high school, we get together quite a bit! The nearest TJ’s is so far away :( I’ve actually never even been. I think I need to make a special trip! And I LOVE the ketchup/mayo combo… I call it fancy sauce :)

I love anything from trader joes!!!!!

My favorite “fry dip” besides ketchup is a chocolate milkshake :-P

Reply

Fry Sauce! We have that in WA but you cannot get it in Arizona. I am 8 months pregnant and craving fry sauce and crinkle fries everyday!

Reply

My favorite bars right now are Luna Chocolate dipped Coconut and Lara Banana’s Foster.
We just got a Trader Joe’s in our town THIS year. I am obsessed with the Macadamias mixed Gingerly with Cranberries and Almonds trail mix. It is salty, sweet goodness.

Reply

I LOVE Larabars and Clif bars. Some other bars can be pretty fake tasting, but I like those if I’m in a pinch!

I think you and I should open a TJ’s in Utah County…what do you say? ;)

Reply

YES! Great idea! Oh my goodness, can you imagine? People already LOVE TJ’s and then add Janae as the owner and that store would be crraaazzzyyyy. I think it would quickly become Utah County’s biggest tourist attraction!

Reply

Best idea ever!!!!!!

Reply

I live in Bozeman, MT and the closest TJ’s is 6 hours away in Spokane! It’s such a tragedy. I am going to the Gorge this weekend for the DMB concert though and we will definitely be making a stop in Spokane on the way back so I can stock up on TJ’s hummus!

Reply

There is a really awesome picture of me with my BFF in 5th grade where we are wearing matching jorts with white tshirts tucked in and I had sweet gold-rimmed glasses… your picture totally made me reminisce a little bit, haha!

BTW she and I are still best friends (even though we live 2 states apart!) and I am the godmother of her new baby boy :)

Reply

I eat Luna (Blueberry Bliss is my fav) and Lara Bars- love all the new Lara bars including the Uber and Alt bars (Best peanut butter bar out there!). Everyone raves about the Quest bars and I thought they were awful. :(

Reply

YES I love Whole Foods so much, I’m glad you enjoyed it!!

Reply

I am liking the sport Jelly Belly’s right now!

Reply

That’s so awesome that you still keep in touch with your grade school friends. I keep in touch with some of them on FaceBook, but I haven’t seen them in years.

I would be in so much trouble if there was a LULU and WF next to each other where I lived. So glad the nearest Lulu is 2hrs away or I would probably buy a lot more than I normally do.

Reply

I have not tried fry dip…my fave “fry dip” is a frosty from Wendy’s…deeelish!

TJ’s fave…hmmm…probably a tie between cookie butter and power berries! YUUMMO!

Reply

There are 3 TJ’s within 10 minutes of us. I’m liking their Power to the Greens lately.

It is so great to have long-time friends like that!! I’ve had one good friend since before kindergarten! That’s over 40 years of friendship!!!

Hope the rain lets up :)

Reply

I nearly bought the Honey Stinger for Mr J’s IronMan this past weekend, but since we’ve never tried them before, I didn’t want to throw in something new that he might not like. I agree with a lot of the other comments– LUNA bars are awesome. Someone gave me a few when I had my first daughter and was in the NICU with her for a week. You can’t take food in the NICU and I didn’t want to stay away long enough to go to the cafeteria and wait in lines, so I’d just step outside for 2 minutes and eat a Luna Bar– Vanilla Blueberry! Great memories. Glad you got to TJs– I miss them here in England!

Reply

I got together with three of my elementary school friends a couple of years ago and it was so fun! We need to do it again, especially now that I live close to them.
I am looking out my window at blue skies, so I’m going to cross my fingers that it cleared up for you in time to do your workout outside!
Fry sauce is the best!!!!!!! I mean, this is a bias Utah girl talking, but that stuff is heaven.

Reply

After going through a huge bar phase, I’m trying not to rely on them so much…that being said, I do love the occasional Quest or KIND bar. And those chocolate covered marshmallows – making a note of those for when I’m in the US in a few weeks!

Reply

I like Kind bars and Luna fiber bars best right now. Fave at TJs is Better N Peanut Butter.

I have never tried fry sauce??! Don’t know if I can be steered away from my love of ketchup.

Reply

I just bought some of the Honey Stingers myself to try…

I want to bite into that baby’s arms… so sweet!

Reply

I like to eat bars once in awhile, usually Luna bars and sometimes a Quest bar, but they dont do much for my hunger without something else added to it (usually peanut butter ;)

My best friend of 20-ish years and I met in 3rd grade and remain best friends to this day! We moved to NYC together. And I still talk to a few others! One of my closest friends from elementary will be getting married in 2 weeks!

I love TJ’s. We have 3 in NYC so I go at least 3 times a month. My favorite find is obviously the cookie butter… but I cant let myself buy it!

Love fry sauce!

Reply

I am still in touch with friends from growing up, one in particular and it is just so special to still be friends so many years later. I love the Whole Foods Food Bar and everything lately at Trader Joe’s including the sweet chili sauce, onion rings and mini dark chocolate bars.

Reply

The same “fry sauce” is a Quebec thing here in Canada! I find it so interesting how different places have specific things like that. It is super good I will admit but I never eat it at home…

I’m still really good friends with a core group of elementary school friends and really good friends with two girls I went to preschool with! It’s pretty awesome :)

Reply

I am a fan of Kind Bars and Luna Bars (the carrot cake and cookie dough protein kinds are especially amazing). I have never lived particularly close to a Trader Joe’s so I don’t get in there much at all. Whole Foods on the other hand? There is one really close to my office so I am all about their salad bar for lunch! Yum!

Reply

I prefer the cashew Larabar–yum!
I actually still talk to my BFF from elementary school–she has lived in California since middle school (I’m in Indiana) and we still stay in touch—We are actually flying out for her wedding in October.

Reply

Bars make my stomach burn-go figure why… :( So I’d rather stick to the classic banana or toast plus jelly before a race or work out!

Reply

TJ’s is pretty much the only place I get groceries while I’m at school because it’s the closest to me (plus they’re awesome). It’s about a quarter mile away and I pass by it on my walk to school.

Reply

I’ve only been to a Lululemon’s twice and I’ve NEVER been to Whole Foods so I don’t know what I am missing which is probably a good thing ;)

My brother loves fry sauce but I am afraid of mayo so no bueno for me!

I loooove TJs and I can’t believe they have dark chocolate covered marshmallows! One of my favorites, definitely!

Reply

So fun that you have such awesome friends around!

I’ve never been to the whole foods bar, but I do love me some lululemon!!

I bet you ran outside on the track ;)

Reply

I love chubby babies! They make my heart happy :)

I lilke the cashew Larabars but can’t eat them right before I run because I get horrible heart burn.

I have a TJ’s about 5 miles away (LOVE!)

I have one friend from elementary school that I catch up with every once in a while, but several friends from high school that I am still close with.

I literally just had that honey stinger vanilla waffle in my hand the other day to try but chickened out and went with my old standard of sport beans. Darn! As for bars, I love the Kind bars. There’s one that has salted pretzel and dark chocolate mixed with nuts that is to die for! And almond/apricot is another fave.

I went to school with a stefanie and a stacy so we were the three S’s =)

I keep in touch with a several of my elementary school friends. A few are still my closest friends. One of them I have been friends with since Kindergarten!
I am a fan of Larabars. I got hooked on them when my husband and I did a month paleo challenge.
I am lucky enough to have several Trader Joe’s pretty close to me. The one I go to regularly is only about 8 minutes away. I love the power berries and guac/hummus selection. My daughter is a fan of the rocketship crackers.

i love the story about the three j’s! i’m still best friends with 4 girls from kindergarten/1st grade. i love them so much and don’t know what i’d do without them. childhood bffs are really the best!

i don’t eat bars often, but when i do, i LOVE larabars. the peanut butter cookie and cherry pie flavors are some of my faves!

I just got together for dinner with some high school friends a couple weeks ago. It was so fun to catch up and reminisce! I actually live in Sugarhouse about 10 min away from the exact Whole Foods/Lulu that you went to…but I’ve never been! Every time I drive by I think, I want to go there, but never do. Oh well, next time. Maybe.

a TJs just opened near me about 9 months ago. It is the first time I’ve ever lived near one!
And there is one elementary school friend i talk to regularly still and a few lingering out there on Facebook that I sort of keep in touch with (but not closely)

I am a fan of Cliff bars… mostly the chocolate mint or the dark cherry almond. The texture of those are delicious. Oh Yeah bars taste like Oh Henry bars… for the first half. And lately I am trying the different Quest bars… they have a different texture but are pretty good.

I don’t have many elementary school friends left really. We have all kind of gone our separate ways unfortunately.

That’s so funny about the signing pad! My son does the same thing. He always wants to slide the card through the slot first (most of the time he just taps it on the box) and then uses the pen to “write” his name. The clerks always get a kick out of it and I think it’s pretty darn funny. Kids are the best!

I love Trader Joe’s. I have two within pretty close proximity and have certain staples. I just recently bought their mini ice cream cones and love them. Of course, I don’t eat just one at a time which I think defeats the purpose?

Reply

I actually love bars and kind of wish I didn’t because of all of the scary ingredients and sugar in most of them. My absolute favorite bar is the Chunky PB ThinkThin bar (try it please, and thank me later). But prerun, I love Larabars. So few ingredients, good balance of calories, and yummy flavors! Chocolate PB is currently my favorite, but also like the PBJ and blueberry muffin.

Reply

I love the mint chocolate clif bars!!! I am still in touch with one of my elementary school friends – old friends are the best!!! There is something awesome about staying friends with someone who has seen you through all of the stages of your life (the awkward middle school years, etc) I have always wanted to go to Salt Lake City! Utah is one of the few states I have not been to yet. I like seeing what it’s like through your blog. P.s. the pic of Brooke signing for you is precious!

I love Honey stinger waffles (the honey ones and the vanilla ones are my favorite), as for bars…I love Lara bars (apple pie, and chocolate chip cookie dough), quest (strawberry cheesecake), fiber one (oats and chocolate), and clif (mint chocolate) are some of my favorites.

We have a TJ’s less than 3 miles from my house, and it is conveniently between my house and my office as well. (perfection, I know….as well as the Wegmans and Starbucks, Panera and Chipotle that are all also between my house and office).

We call fry sauce “secret sauce” here..or maybe thats just not a Texas thing? I dont know but either way its delicious! Ive been making a healthy at home version by mixing Greek yogurt and ketchup…Dont knock it ’til you try it!

Okay, so I ALWAYS mix mayo and ketchup and put it on my burgers and call it my “special sauce” (sometimes I add relish too and then it’s like In N Out sauce) but that’s hilarious that it’s the same as fry sauce! I made it without even knowing it! ;) Also, my family in Idaho loves fry sauce, too. Interesting. I just went to TJ’s yesterday, too, and now that I see those choc marshmallows I think I need to go back and get them…

The almond butter from Trader Joe’s is my absolute favorite. so so good!
It’s my husband’s birthday today and for his birthday dessert we’re having our own at-home froyo bar. I picked up frozen yogurt (of course), berries, mini peanut butter cups, TJ’s Joe-Joes, peanut butter, coconut shreds, and dark chocolate chips for toppings. can.not.wait.

Hey Janae! You need to time your Lulu/Whole Foods/Trader Joe’s visit on a night that Lululemon does their Sunset Salutations Yoga! It’s Wednesday night at the Grand America hotel in the courtyard outside. And the best part….it’s FREE! And it is awesome! It’s shady, and there is always a nice breeze! You need to come try it!

Have a great day!

I just recently tried the Honey Stinger waffles and I love them! Also recently bought their PB/chocolate bars and they are delish! I love everything about them the texture, flavor and they don’t bug my belly at all while running.
I keep in touch with a few elementary friends mainly via FB.
The nearest TJ’s is about 90 miles away so I try to get there at least once a month to stock up!

Yum, Honey Stinger waffles are the best-my favorite are the lemon flavored ones.

Mayo+ketchup is actually what the big mac sauce is at McDonald’s.

I LOVE STINGER WAFFLES!

I like Luna (Lemon Zest and Peppermint Stick are my favorite) and Quest (Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough) bars.

I’m only connected to my elementary school friends through Facebook. We had a 20 year – 5th grade graduation a year ago, but I was bummed I had to miss it due to travel.

Trader Joe’s is within walking distance of me. My roommate goes all the time, but I rarely go! ….I need to more often! She comes home with good looking fruits, veggies, and meats!

Fry sauce sounds good!! In college, we’d mix BBQ Sauce+ Ketchup to dip our fries in!

Hi! Love your blog. It motivates me to keep running although I’m a beginner. Your baby is so cute and pretty. Here in Puerto Rico we have the fry sauce but we call it guess what: mayoketchup. We use it for dipping tostones (fried plantain), sorullitos (cornmeal fritters yes fried!) and even as a salad dressing!

Saludos y que todo te vaya bien!!!

Hello!

I love TJ, if you haven’t you need to try the chocolate covered potato chips … so delicious. I live in the avenues in downtown SLC so I am super close to the new location. It made my year.

I agree, Fry Sauce is delicious. I was living in Washington this past year for grad school and I missed it. So yummy.

I’m in touch with a few of my elementary school friends via facebook, but I only actually really ever see one. It doesn’t help that I moved away right before middle school.

Ok this is my first comment, but I’ve read your blog for a while now! I love it and I love all the personality that goes into your posts! :)
I LOVE PICO! But unfortunately I’ve actually never made it… I think you should post your sister’s recipe for a HUGE container of pico de gallo on your blog!

Great idea!!!! I will ask her! Thanks so much for your comment!

Totally random. But I bought something today that made me think of you. Are you ready for this, white chocolate candy corn M&Ms! Of course, they taste more white chocolate with a candy shell than candy corn but they are delish and come in great fall colors!

Praying for you and Brooke daily! Keep smiling your beautiful smile! You are an inspiration!

Well now I have to go buy them!!! Thanks so much girl, I really appreciate you!

Brooke is smart as a whip already! She wants to be just like her mama! I’m like 99.9999% positive she will run before she walks :)

OMG- I follow Jamyn’s blog and LOVE her! You guys are SO gorgeous!! Brooke is still adorable as always! :)

Nice! I love how Brooke started signing her name – she is going to be so ahead when she gets to school!

I’ve only ever tried Clif Bars, but I really like them. The coconut choco chip is my favorite.

I am in touch with several people I’ve know since elementary school, but haven’t visited with any recently.

We have a TJ’s about 10 minutes down the street, but we never shop there. We have a seriously confined budget and usually stick to Walmart and Stop & Shop (which don’t always have the healthiest options available depending on stocked items).

I’ve never tried fry sauce before but it sounds yummy. I usually get weird looks when I ask servers for tartar sauce on the side (when I’m ordering a burger or something) because I dip my fries in that.

Fry Sauce… I’ve tried it… not a HUGE fan, but it’s good!

I hope you’re doing well… :)

Fun day! I love Luna bars (peppermint/chocolate is my favorite right now). I also really like the Lara bars (most flavors). They have them at Costco now, so yeah, they end up in my cart.

I mostly keep up with my friends from elementary school via Facebook. Hoping to get back “home” soon to see some of their faces in actual 3D.

Love Trader Joe’s. Cinnamon Almonds, Kale/Broccoli salad, anything in the freezer aisle…It’s all good.

Fry sauce, aka “secret sauce” where I’m from, was served with all orders from our Arctic Circle establishment — which I’m pretty sure is no longer in business. But I don’t think that was because of the fry sauce.
