I picked a marathon to run and SHE’S HERE!

SHE’S HERE!!!  I try not to complain about it very much but I miss my family (I am sure that there are a lot of us in that same boat:)  Having my cousin come to visit takes away the homesickness.

DSC 5055

We had some people over for dinner last night and so I got really creative in the kitchen and cooked some chicken in the crockpot with bbq sauce and then Costco did the rest.

DSC 5050

Costco tortilla chips are extra salty which means I had to go back for about 100 more.

DSC 5056

Ghirardelli brownies (also from Costco) for dessert.  I always bake them for 5 minutes less than the box tells me too because the insides must be underbaked.

And then I had some of Billy’s fancy chocolate…75% cocoa…. it was delicious but I would still prefer a Milky Way.

Last but not least an evening walk.

I have my next marathon picked out.  I was supposed to do one this summer but my IT Band prevented me from training for that.  My coach has this thing where he wants us to think about our long term running goals rather than just racing and signing up for every race under the sun and getting injured every 5 seconds like I used to.  He has me on track to peak in my training for CIM this December so it is fun to think about this race as I am deciding whether or not to get out of bed and run in the morning.

This is getting me up and ready to work hard:

I am learning running patience.

I have a half marathon in August and 3 in October (not racing all of them, running some just for fun) but the main focus will be CIM.  I can’t wait.

Brownies: middle piece, underbaked. Only way to eat them. Oh, and with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Yum in the tum!

Reply

I was seriously so mad last night that we didn’t have any ice cream because you are right, that is the only way to eat them!

Reply

Undercooked middle piece for sure!!! I think long term one of my goals is to qualify for the trials :-) after kids and all that!

Reply

Ummm… I have a marathon scheduled for never ;) But now my goals are just getting my speed back after a… ahem… challenging delivery.

Brownies: middle, all the way. I’ve seen those brownie pans where it makes every piece like an edge piece and that makes no sense to me. They need to invent a pan that is all middle pieces.

I always miss my mom even though I get to see her about once a month.

Reply

I want to find a marathon for April / May! I am recovery from an injury too and won’t be able to start running until September. After 6 months off from running I am giving myself a healthy buffer before my first marathon!

Brownies should always be gooey and I will eat either the edge of the middle. I go home 7/31 and can’t wait to see my fam!

Reply

An edge piece with lots of gooey middle! Or is that cheating??

Reply

Yay!! I’m signed up for a marathon the exact same day in Dallas! Can’t wait to follow you on your {way speedier} journey! Also, yay for having your family in town…. enjoy your visit with her. And brownie corner…. all the way.

Reply

Me too!! Training starts this weekend!!

Reply

I’m late to the party, but I’m running Dallas also! It’s a great race!

Reply

NICE! I would love to do CIM someday. I’m very excited for you and can’t wait to follow along with your training.

Reply

Sounds like a great training plan! brownies – i like both the edges and the sides, couldnt choose if you paid me! And yes I miss the part of my fam that lives out west! hopefully I’ll get to see them in early fall :)

Reply

Congrats!! It’s always a huge help to have a goal race. Mine this season is Space Coast marathon. It’s the week before yours so we’ll have similar training build up. I’m hoping to qualify for Boston at it, which is one of my long term goals.

I have been lucky to live close to my family all my life, but my sis is moving out of state this weekend. I’m gonna miss her so much!!!

Reply

I love underbaked baked goods. Yum. My mouth is watering yet again. It seems to happen more and more lately. I want to be running when I’m 80 so I had to opt out of a race I’ve been wanting to do for 2 years this past weekend due to injury. It’s better to be smart now so we don’t have to pay later! I’ve heard that’s an awesome race- sure you’ll run it faster and stronger too because you’re training smart.

Reply

Middle if I’m feeling all sweet. Edge if I need a bit of crunch in my life.

Having moved so many times, I’ve adapted quite well to being without family. I am, however, very much looking forward to being closer to my hub’s parents in a few weeks when we move to their land.

Long term running goals= adjust to the new area and explore the trails. If we add Kid 2 into the mix, then run as long as possible.

Reply

I’m raising money+training to run the ING NYC Marathon in November!!! And yes, I miss my family so badly… they’re ALL in Italy! Christmas is when I saw them last and unfortunately, I will not be able to visit them until next Christmas… :( Good thing there is the Marathon training that keeps me busy!!

Reply

Even though I like distance, one of my long term running goals is to race a 5k.

I cannot wait to follow your training! Lucky us, thanks for letting us be part of it Janae!!

Edge all the way.

Reply

I underbake brownies and cookies and definitely a center piece of brownies for me!

I don’t have a marathon on schedule right now. I’m tentatively training for Hartford in October, but it will all depend on if I can get my mileage back up without hurting myself again.

Reply

My husband and I are going to do a marathon in early 2014- probably the Publix Marathon in Atlanta in March- that was our very first half marathon together, a month before our wedding. It seems like a good idea to have our first full marathon be the same race, a month before our one year anniversary :)

I want to eventually complete a marathon in under 3 hours. I don’t know if that realistically will ever happen, but it’s the goal. :)

Brownies: MIDDLE PIECE!! Yum.

Reply

I have a half in September and a half in October and then my first FULL MARATHON the end of October. I am SO EXCITED! I want to learn everything I can about running and I want to get really good and fast and just amazing. Why couldn’t I right? I’m slowly getting there! I just started really seriously running last year and I will never give it up.
(can you tell how excited and how much I love this sport?)
Also, Middle of the brownie and double points if it’s undercooked! YUM.

Reply

I haven’t had quite the guts to sign up yet, but I’m also (like Kim) planning for the Dallas marathon on the same day. I’ve never run a full, so the prospect is terrifying… Totally counts as a long-term running goal. :)

Reply

Brownies– middle pieces, definitely!

Very sad right now because I just came home from a long-ish (2 week) visit with family and probably won’t get to see them again until Christmas. I teach college and it’s hard to find a job just wherever, but I’m planning to get more serious about trying to find something closer to them. Too tough to plan and too hard to leave when I only get to see everyone twice a year!

Reply

I’m hoping to do my first half marathon this fall. Brownies— I love the edges!
I miss my family a lot. I live 5 hours away from them!

Reply

Slightly underbaked brownies, but I love the edge pieces too.
My longest race I’m training for is now a half at the Niagara Falls International Marathon. I was doing the 10K but switched it to the half yesterday. I partially think I’m out of my mind though.

Reply

Wow I have no idea how you can be training for a race so far in the future. That takes massive motivation and incredible planning on the part of your coach. With so many months to prepare including the many already behind you I bet you will get you goals :)

I am more of a “run how you feel” type runner so your super planning and long term goals are a bit foreign to me!

Reply

No marathons for me! My long term running goal is to do a half…I am THISCLOSE to signing up for my first and kicking off a 12 week trainign program but I’m scared to pull the trigger!
Brownies – Can i have one edge and one middle please? :)
None of our families live near us and we miss them all the time! My niece arrives Saturday for a one week visit, and then we are meeting the rest of my in laws (18 of us total!) at the beach for a week’s vacation, yippeee!!! Not sure when i will see my immediate family again but probably sometime in September.

Reply

I am signed up for a half in February and toying with the idea of one earlier…I love undercooked brownies but the edges are always the best!

Reply

My coach tells me the same thing. I have a half in September and a full in November! A sweaty summer of training is always fun.

Reply

My dad was just down here visiting but the time was so short. I could use a trip back home to be honest.
Marathons coming up- MCM in October and Richmond in Nov. Then a RNR race in April 2014.
Calendar is filling up quick!

Reply

Smart planning! CIM is supposed to be fast. I have a few half marathons on the list, and a marathon in January. I haven’t even started thinking about it yet!

Reply

I have my FIRST half marathon planned for December 8. I’m running the Dallas Half, and I could not be more excited :) I have been working hard to get to this point, and I know that in 145 days, I’ll be so ready!

As for long-term goals: a marathon in 2014! Probably the Dallas Marathon. I also REALLY want to run the Disney World Marathon. Perhaps I’ll schedule that for 2015!

Brownies: middle, duh.

Reply

Also, I just bought one of those shirts: I Have the Runs. Hahaha, it’s great! I can’t wait to get it in!

Reply

Half marathon in October and I’d like to find another one for late oct or early nov. Depending on the outcomes of those will determine if I do a full in 2014. My family (immediate) is spread throughout Canada (Alberta, Saskatchewan and Quebec) but we manage to see each other quite often….. Still wish my patents lived closer though:(

Soft or crunchy brownie… Either one works for me if someone else is baking it for me!

Reply

I’m doing cim too!!!!!

Reply

Me too!!

Reply

Not for a long time seeing as I am 6 months pregnant BUT I do hope to run one in Oct 2014 and have the race all picked out :)
To run another full marathon.
Edge piece, I like the crispy edges!
I am lucky to live close to all my family and see them lots, something I am really thankful for.

Reply

Congrats on your marathon! I completely know how you feel – my family lives about 2000 miles away and I hardly ever get to see them. It used to feel okay when I was in college because I was surrounded by friends and that distracted me. Now that I’ve moved to a new place where I don’t know very many people, I feel homesick all.the.time. It’s great that your cousin is visiting! I’m sure y’all will have lots of adventures!

I absolutely need an inside brownie piece. I don’t like any hard parts to my brownies at all.

Reply

Only 1/2 marathons scheduled for now, one in September and one in May. My hubby is running back to back marathons in the fall, marine corp and then New York, so with having two young girls I think our plate is a little full! My goal is speed. I want to crush my last time of 1:56. Brownies, I like the most center gooey piece, the one with the toothpick holes :).

Reply

I am obsessed with adventure races and have two more Tough Mudders in the fall. My running goal is to always stay in marathon shape. Enjoy your family time! I understand 100% how hard law school/internships are….I went through it with my husband. It’s worth every second and struggle of it, though. Hang in there.

Reply

That looks like a PR course for sure! With the way you’re training, I’m sure you’ll PR no problem! I’m signed up for Richmond in November. Official training starts this week. YIKES!

YUM, I love slightly underbaked brownies. I’ll take a middle piece, please.

Most of my family lives about 4.5 hours away, so while we see them fairly often, I still wish we saw them more.

Reply

I think about running a marathon for like a nano-second every once in a while. But the challenge of getting the mileage in is my biggest worry/struggle at the moment. Maybe in another year or so.

Right now my goal is to PR my half either this fall or for sure at Disney Princess in Feb.

Reply

I don’t have a marathon planned yet, but I really want to sign up for another one soon! I look forward to reading about your marathon training.

Edge brownie please! Brownie tip: Use two boxes at once and make a double batch in the same pan. It makes nice thick gooey brownies :).

I miss my brother, sister in law, and nieces who live in Florida. I hope to see them again soon!

Reply

YAY for your marathon!!!!!!!!
I can’t wait to hear about your races!!!
Whoo hoo!!!

Reply

That’s the one thing I’m totally jealous of all you Californians for–you have so many races to choose from! I’m currently registered for the Long Beach half (flying to California for only the 2nd time in my life!), and the Houston half in January that I’m going back and forth between the half and full. It would be my first ever full!

Reply

I have my first half marathon planned for this November, couldn’t more excited :) Long term goal for running is to one day run a marathon. ONE DAY
Hmmmm, I’d have to say Corner, make the corners have a little crunch and make it an extra big piece and I’m happy :)

Reply

I’m planning on doing CIM, too!! LOVE this race. Practicing running patience, too. Have my residency boards in October, so I will use CIM as a for fun/training race and try to peak in late winter/early spring.

Reply

1. Those shirts are hilarious. 2. Brownies should always be undercooked and 3. family visiting is the best! Enjoy!!

Reply

I’m usually a fan of middle brownie pieces, but lately, I’ve been liking edge pieces…so both?

Most of my family lives in Texas, and I’m in Chicago–I miss them all the time!

Next marathon is the Chicago Marathon, running with my fiance (his first marathon!). I actually went a little crazy with registering for races for fall and winter, so I have 4 marathons planned between October and January. Most of them are for fun (running with friends who live far away!), though, not for a PR.

Reply

Ahhhh! Yay for a marathon! I have had CIM on my radar since last year and am still undecided on it. My goal race is mid October and I am thinking about piggy backing them….we shall see! I have friends that live right there, and I’ve never been to CA, this makes me want to do it more! You are going to be SO ready to run that race. Can’t wait for you:)

Reply

Congrats! It’s so exciting to have that goal to work towards :)

Reply

No marathon in the future, two half marathons in fall, only two weeks apart, never done that before! My dream marathon is Long Beach, maybe next year.

Long term running goals: Get in better running shape in terms of muscle strength so injuries happen less and drop my half marathon time to 1:45. At 1:52 that’s a long way to go, but I’m hopeful!

Brownies: If I eat them, middle!

Super spoiled because my family is close by.

What are the half marathons in Oct?!? Any runs planned with Brooke in the stroller? My mom used to race with me in one!

Reply

Most DEFINITELY middle piece! I love brownies soft and under baked.

I miss my family a lot too. They’re all in AZ! We’re actually going down this weekend to visit them for my grandma’s funeral. Not the reason I was hoping to see them, but at least we get to see everyone again.

Reply

Oooh I’ve run CIM for the last two years. I’m debating whether to do it this year. Two years ago, it was PERFECT for a marathon run. Last year? It was raining sideways and my PR goal went out the window. It was still run to step into giant puddles for 20-something miles (weather cleared up near the finish, haha).
And it looks like you’ll be running Summer Breeze? I’ll be there, too, as a volunteer AND racing this time :D

Reply

Yay for family being there! How long will she be there? Enjoy every minute of it!

I am so excited for you and your marathon. You have that sub 3 for sure and it will be so great to see all your hard work pay off! I will be extra jealous of all your running in those Winter months when I am stuck indoors on a treadmill (I am not that awesome and/or hard core to run on the ice and snow).

Oh and middle brownies for sure. And now I want some. If I eat it with my green smoothie, then the smoothie totally cancels the brownie out, right?

Reply

I have a marathon scheduled for 11/3! Ahh, it’s my first one! It’s the two cities marathon and it starts in Fresno, CA and ends in Clovis, CA. I’m running two 1/2’s in October. A long term running goal will be to finish the marathon at sub-4:30. Definitely middle piece of the brownie, preferably covered in ice cream :) Most of my family lives near me, other than my big sister. We try to see her about twice a year since she lives outside of the country. She’s planning on coming here next March and we are thinking about road tripping through the U.S. and ending in Canada to visit with her next summer.

Reply

I am running a marathon Oct 19th!!! It is the Kansas City Marathon. I am so excited!!!
I want those brownies!!! Middle for sure and 5 min undercooked please :)!
I really don’t know if I have any long term goals. I love running and challenging myself, but I usually just do small goals and work toward them. My goal for KC is 3:15 and that would be a big PR!
I love using my crockpot too!!!

Reply

My next marathon isn’t until October (Chicago). I’m doing a half this weekend-Rock n Roll in Chicago! One of my goals is to run two marathons a year from here on out.

Brownies: edge-totally! Love the crispness

Reply

I have heard so many good things about CIM! Good choice :)

Reply

Yay! I’ve been wondering when “the announcement” would be made! You are going to rock it out, I’m so excited for you! Maybe I missed the post or mention, but how did you find your coach? Is it done online only? How’s it working for you? Could I ask anymore questions? ;-)

Reply

Yay for picking a marathon! Good luck with the rest of your training!

Underbaked brownies are the only way to go!

Reply

Woohooo marathon! 3 halfs in October?! Are you rich, haha! I can hardly afford one! A marathon is definitely in my future but I’m not sure when. I’d like to get through cross country first!

Reply

The edge of the brownie, chewy and maybe even a touch crispy, is my jam. My husband prefers the soft underbaked style, so we never fight over brownies. Yesterday I had a brownie with a layer of graham crackers and marshmallows in the middle. It was a chewy gooey delight!

I’m training for an October marathon, and I leave for a two week vacation tomorrow, so I’m a little anxious about keeping up with speedwork & long runs while driving (1700 miles with a 6 yr old & 4 yr old) and vacationing! I know it’s possible, but it will be hard for me!! Thanks for keeping us posted on your progress; it helps me to stay motivated when I read about other runners’ motivation! :)

Reply

Middle piece slightly undercooked and warm from the oven with ice cream on top! My husband likes the edge pieces (weirdo) but at least this means we are a match made in heaven as I can eat the middles and he eats all the edges!

I do not plan on doing any marathons soon but I keep thinking about a 1/2 in the fall. I have not run more than 3-5 miles in a long time. Right now I am focusing on weight loss and then I will get longer with my runs again. So if I hit my goal by the late summer a 1/2 will be in consideration.

I am missing my family but hopefully will get to see them soon – maybe a couple weeks! We only live about 1 hour away.

Reply

I’m running the Victoria half in October and then I think I’m going to train for my first full marathon next spring (either Vancouver BMO or Tofino edge to edge). I’m really nervous about making the big commitment but I think I’m ready!

Reply

WOOT WOOT! I have ran CIM and loved it. slightly rolling hills down to some flat miles at the finish.

I have another friend along with a running coach all going this year! My running coach has run CIM almost every single year for like….. 15 years or some crazy number.

Have fun! Train hard! Be Great!!

Reply

You are running so smart these days with your coaches help. You will totally rock the marathon. Since I read your blog like its a novel I don’t know if I can wait until December to hear how things go!

I’m never doing another marathon. At least for awhile. They really frustrate and aggravate me.

One of my long term goals is to break 20 minutes in the 5k. I’ve gotten so close and not yet succeeded. I am so close to a BQ. But that will have to wait until I get over my hate of marathons.

Edge piece. No contest.

Reply

Yesterday I signed up for the Big Sur Marathon!!!
I said New York was going to be my last but marathon running is addicting!
I like the outer parts of brownies :)

I hope your IT band feels up fast!

Reply

I’m excited to hear about your marathon because it is on the same day as mine. I am running the Tucson Marathon this year and it will be my second time running a full. Of course my goals are a bit different (I just want to finish under 5 hours) but it will be fun to train along with you!

Reply

I just love that t-shirt website, thanks for sharing!

My running goals, seriously is just to be able to run. I totally wish I could that Folsom to Sac run sounds great as I use to live in Sacramento. If I were eating cake I would take the corner piece, more frosting :) I live away from my family and it is hard. We just spent 2 weeks there and I have been missing them so badly since then (its been just about a month). I think we might be able to swing it and go back in a couple of months ~ I so hope so. Anyway, I understand totally when you mention how much you miss you family. How are they?

Reply

I have a marathon in 9 weeks and I’m freaking out a little because I feel totally out of shape right now! AHH! It will be fine. Once I’m moved and settled, I’ll be able to really get back into my training. Oh yeah, BTW I’m moving. I’ll email you about it.

I kind of like the crispy edge!

I just saw my mom and sister yesterday but I still miss my family. It’s a little pathetic haha Also, I miss you!

Reply

My parents are coming in 24 sleeps!!!!

Reply

If I can heal in time for training, I will be running CIM too :) I signed up back in the beginning of the year. Crossing my fingers a 2 week break will help heal my legs/feet. I’ll see what my PT says today. lol.

I think I like the edge of brownies :)

Reply

I’ve never run CIM, but it’s down the street from me!! We should meet up!

Reply

Well my parents, one sister and niece live in Germany, my brother and other sister in the US and I’m in England with my husband. I get it! ;)
Only just coming back from injury, so have my eye on my first 26.2 at the end of October. Fingers xed!

Reply

I’m really homesick. I’ve been in LA for the past 4 weeks for a summer program and its the longest and farthest I’ve ever been away. I love it here but I’m ready to go home, only 2 weeks left!

Reply

For anything, I always choose the middle pieces because they are the gooey-ist and closest to being raw! I am missing my brothers right now, but I live with my parents still so I see them a lot :D

Reply

I dislike overcooked brownies for sure!!

FUN that your cousin is there!! I can’t wait to see my sisters soon <3

Reply

I’m trying to get one in my plan. I’m following your footsteps with getting back into things slowly and looking long term. I’m just not nearly as fast. Love ya friend! Can’t wait until you come back down to visit. The boys are already talking about it! He he.

Reply

I miss my family. I’ve been gone long enough that I’m kind of used to it, though. I’m not sure when I will see my mom again, possibly at the beginning of the year.

Reply

I am doing Chicago in October. I’m sorry I’m doing it. Training is HARD! I miss my family every day. Today my youngest leaves for Navy Bootcamp so I will miss him too. I’ll see him in 8 weeks. No clue about when I venture to NY to see that family.

Reply

corner pieces of brownies!!!

Brownies work for me no matter where they’re sliced from! CIM!!! I’ll be there hollering at my friends again, so maybe I’ll see you fly by. I hope it’s a little less wet this year! Excited to watch your training :)

Reply

I’m running CIM too! I’m excited to train hard and hopefully get a PR! I started reading your blog about a month ago and I’m hooked :) Looking forward to following your training!

Reply

Give me the ooey gooey middle of a brownie please.
Long term running goal like so many others….BQ.

Reply

I have 3 up-coming marathons on the calander…but I am only going as a spectator…does that count?!?…I’ll be there to “cheer”, but I have no desire to ever run a full marathon…I think I’ll stick with the 1/2 distance!

Reply

I am planning to run the Miami Marathon in February 2014! I am doing it as one of five races that are part of a series called the Florida Storm Series, basically you get extra medals for running all five races. The other four will be half marathons.

I am looking forward to reading about your marathon training, I know I will find it motivating and hopefully I will learn a few tricks :)

Reply

I’m thinking about doing CIM too!

Reply

OMG, those ciabatta rolls are the BEST.

And yay! I can’t wait to hear how CIM goes for you!

I was hoping to run the Seattle Marathon this November, but now I’m just going to run the half. Hoping to run the Eugene Marathon in April now!

And with brownies, I just want them all :D But edge pieces are probably my favorite!

Reply

I’d really like to beat my previous time at my next half marathon and I’d like to place at my 5k in September, but I don’t think that’s going to happen. I like the middle pieces of brownies. Soft and chewy :) I’m missing my family right now. I’m not going to see them until the middle of August and I haven’t seen them since the beginning of January. Far too long!!

Reply

I will be running CIM too!!! My first full! So my goal is to finish the thing in one piece. And with my legs rather than the bus taking me to the finish :-/ Which half are you doing in August? There are sooooo many choices around here in late summer/fall. You should definitely do one of the Big Sur races if you haven’t considered them. The May ones are the best because they are actually in Big Sur – but the November half in Monterey is still a great race and a beautiful course! It always sells out but I don’t think it has yet. You should check it out :)

Reply

I’m running the rnr St. Louis marathon at the end of October! Hoping to run under a 3:30 :)

Extra large corner piece for me! That way you get the crunchy edges as well as plenty of the gooey center.

Reply

Not a marathon but a half in December.

Love a middle piece of a brownie & I want it undercooked!

Reply

Woohoo for deciding on a marathon! I love that feeling looking forward to a big race. :) I also have a half on my schedule for fun this summer. It’s along the boardwalk at the NJ shore and I cannot wait to take in the sights and smells along the ocean for 13.1 miles!

My big race and main running goal is the Philadelphia Marathon on Nov. 17th. :)

I don’t think I could ever have anything in common with someone who chooses a side piece of brownie over a middle piece. Just saying.

Reply

I alwayyyyys pick the corner piece for brownies. I love the crunch :) And the CIM is in my hometown!!! We went a few years, and will definitely be cheering from the sidelines in December!!!! So exciting!

xo

Brownies: the entire pan. I’m an all-inclusive brownie eater :)

Haha. Me too :)

I’m scheduled to do the Ventura Marathon on September 8…..just booked my hotel for the night before and am trying to convince the BF to do the 5K.

Long-term goal…..at least 10 marathons……and BQ.

Brownies….middle! But edges work too, if there’s ice cream involved.

Reply

The CIM ends in my hometown! So exciting for you to get back into the marathon :)

Reply

Um those brownies look AMAZING!! I’m definitely an “edge” brownie girl…I need the crunchiness and the gooeyness all together! I gotta make some…in fact, all of your eats look so good!! Your running goals sound awesome too! One of my goals is to run a marathon at some point, but I’m starting off with my first half marathon this March in DC!

Reply

I’m doing the Chicago marathon in October (my training is not where it needs to be – difficult to train in this god-foresaken desert) and then I’m going to do the Memphis Marathon in December. I might try to sneak in the Rock n’ Roll Las Vegas marathon in November, but three marathons in three months might be a bit much….

Ugh, I constantly miss my family. They’re all in Iowa and I’m here in Las Vegas. Fortunately, we’re all meeting in Chicago next weekend and running a 10K!!

Reply

I heart the middle piece, also underbaked. Also, my neighbor made us brownies that changed my life – they were the ghirardelli kind, slightly underbaked, and for the last five minutes of baking, she topped them with mini marshmallows and chocolate chips. Then, she popped on the broiler for a few seconds to toast the tops of the marshmallows. A-MA-ZING. I am now obsessed with making brownies like that and have brought them to literally every function that I’ve been to in the past six months.

Reply

I’m missing my family! Everybody lives in Texas, and I’m up in Washington. I probably won’t see them until Christmas. :(

Reply

I’m running CIM too! So excited!

I always undercook my brownies and cookies because it makes them so gooey and extra soft. Love them. But it makes it harder to keep from eating the entire tray when they’re that delicious.

Reply

brownie cornersss :)))))

Exciting news on the marathon… BTW your coach is a smart guy :) That’s why we hire them, right? :)

My next marathon is the Berlin marathon!!! I am so excited about it – it’s supposed to be very fast as most of the recent WR have been set there :)

Sub 8 min easy run? You are crazy speedy monster! When are you coming to Europe / Prague??? What about the Prague Marathon in May?

My favorite part of brownies are the crunchy corners!

Me!!! I’m missing my family! It’s only 11 more sleeps until I go back to England and see them again :)

I’ve never ran a full marathon, so my goal is to one day run a marathon.

YAY CIM! That was my first (and thus far only marathon) and I LOVED IT!

I’m currently training for Chicago – I’ve never actually flown anywhere for a race so I’m interested to see how it will go! I just want to beat my time from CIM.

I’m all about the edges on brownies… right out of the oven with vanilla ice cream on top :)

My next and first marathon is the Long Beach Marathon in October.

My goal is to be able to finish the marathon without walking a single step.

Middle piece all the way! And I love when brownies are slightly undercooked. Yummy!

Love this marathon! You will rock it!!!

It’s so exciting that you have a marathon on your horizon!

I get to see my parents on Friday, and I’m super excited since I haven’t seen them since April.

I’ll have an under-baked center piece of a brownie please!

You should totally run the Carlsbad 5k south of LA in April some year. It’s fast! I PR’d by 1.5 minutes to run an 18:30 there a few years back. I’d love to go back.
My training seems to be going well lately. I have the 10k next Wed. and then St. George in Oct! (with maybe something in between)

I just saw my family this weekend but it always feels too short. I need a week-long stretch with my mom and sister to feel like it’s enough time with them!

Just out of the oven = edge piece, any other time = middle hands down!

I’m training for my next half marathon in October. All of our family lives close by, but when we lived in Cali, it was extremely hard being away from family. I cried every time they left and I had to leave them.

The ONLY way to bake brownies is to underbake them! (and to add chocolate chips and chocolate syrup) :)
No full marathons in the near future. Ran my first one last fall and had a blast, but my hubby isn’t too thrilled about me doing another one anytime soon because they are soooo time consuming to train for. He was great to hang out with our two kids every Saturday morning while I got my long runs in! :)

Oh my goodness, I will be running my VERY FIRST MARATHON EVER on December 8 too! I’m sure that’s a big racing day for everyone, but still, so cool to think we will be marathoning the same morning, awesome!

And that dinner looks AMAZING. Easy dinners are my favorite. Plus if I’m being honest I’d rather put all my hard work into dessert than dinner ;)

I live in Sacramento and run the CIM relay every year. Maybe I’ll see you there!

Yay for visitors! I’m sure you are so happy to have a marathon planned out!

Brownies – if they make it past the batter, then I’m an edge kind of gal.

I’m signed up for the Marine Corps Marathon in October, but am really hoping to pull out my first 50 miler in November!!

I’m also running CIM-my 8th in a row!

I have a half marathon planned for September. Long term I would like to run a full, but right now I love the half distance and love knocking them off my list!
