GUESS WHO IS COMING TO VISIT?!?!

My Mom.  On Monday.  I can’t even begin to describe how happy I am about this and all of.the adventures we are going to go on.

Wedding 6733

Workout:  5 miles running with Brooke.  I brought my iPad with me because I wanted to read while I walked for a little while after I was done running if Brooke was still napping in the Bob.  I think I walked 3 miles maybe after the run?

And then I stretched real good.

Lunch was at my really good friend’s house.  She is due tomorrow with her second little girl…. I was hoping I would be the one to get to drive her to the hospital while I was there but I think the baby is pretty comfortable in there and waiting a little while to come.

Brooke was obsessed with this toy and each time she put a coin in the pig she laughed like it was the funniest thing she had ever seen.

IMG 0115

Pork taco salads.  This meal was THE meal that hit the spot for me.  I don’t know how she made them so delicious.

IMG 0103

I don’t even know how to thank her for this.  You can never have too much chocolate in your life.

IMG 0114

I have been craving my old favorite snack like crazy lately.  If you haven’t tried cottage cheese and grapes together yet then I sincerely ask you to try it because your well-being is very important to me.

I went to costco to get the 5 lbs of grapes (because anything less would just not be enough) and the cottage cheese and when I got home to put my snack together I realized they were

SEEDED GRAPES.

My world came crashing down.  And I will continue to feel that way until I take them back to Costco for seedless grapes because once again…who wants seeds in their fruit (remember the watermelon incident of June?)

You are right, you can never have too much chcocolate ;-) Love that she laughed at the pig, that is too cute! And girl, you are way talented you can walk, push a stroller, and READ?!?!? I’m lucky if I can do one of those things without seriously injuring myself and/or others.

Brooke is the cuttest baby ever. Love it when she laughs

Can not do the cottage cheese thing. But back to the sour dough bread! Have a great time with your mom! Take her to the beach boardwalk!

Yay for your Mom coming to visit!!
That’s super exciting. I always love my time with my Mom, they’re the best.
Two words to describe my Tuesday – Super hot!

Reply

Deadlines!

Last visitor was also my mom! Going to see her for the 4th of July, too. Yay for moms! Oh, cottage cheese. How I want to love you so. I just can’t get past your texture. or taste. or smell. Besides these shortcomings, I think we could totally be BFFs if I just tried a bit harder. (HRG – I love your blog!)

Reply

Ridiculously hot. I swear… We Canadians are definitely not made for the heat.

That’s so awesome that your mom is coming to visit! I can’t recall my last visitor, but I have a good friend coming to stay with me for a few weeks in a couple of days, and I can.not.wait. And I like cottage cheese quite a bit, actually. I mix in some protein powder and cocoa, toss in some banana and chocolate chips, top the whole thing with nut butter, and take a trip to heaven ^^

Reply

Rainy!
I love cottage cheese with pineapple but I always forget to buy it! I don’t think I’ve ate it in over a year.

Reply

Enjoy the time with your mom! I love when I get to spend quality time with my mom, and I hope my girls feel the same way when they’re older. Thoughts on Tuesday – is it time for the long weekend yet?! Sorry I went over the word count!

Reply

Two words: errand day!

Surprisingly never had cottage cheese.

My best friend from college came to visit recently and we had the best time!

Reply

I love cottage chees wtih grapes, avocado and tomatoes. So tasty! That salad looks so good! I think I need some pulled pork in my life asap.

Reply

Today was an odd day. Maybe I’m out of sorts? I felt distracted all day at work today. I’m pretty sure that cupcake would make me feel better lol! I’m sure it’s still around right? My mom was the last one to visit. It was the bestest. I love cottage cheese with pineapple yummy! Brooke’s smile is the greatest thing ever

I have recently started reading your blog, and I LOVE. IT. Thank you for sharing your love of running and so many amazing pictures everyday!! I wish we could be friends in real life!! :)

Tuesday = productive & hot.

Gosh….that’s a tough one. I feel like lately I do all the visiting. I have no idea who visited ME last!! haha.

cottage cheese + mandarin oranges + maraschino cherries + coconut = delightful.

Reply

Thank you so much for commenting and your cottage cheese combo sounds like heaven!

Reply

Cottage cheese and fresh pineapple! Or cottage cheese and applesauce. Looks gross, but it’s my go-to snack.

Reply

That has got to be the cutest picture of Brooke ever! My Tuesday sucks, I’m having terrible pain in the back of my knee and it is swollen. I’m probably not going to be able to run for awhile so I’m pretty much heartbroken right now. I’ve cried several times today because the pain I feel from not being able to run is worse than the pain in my leg! Sadly no one has come to visit us since moving to Missouri, It’s too far for my parents to make the drive and my parents are always super busy so we have to be the ones to make the trips. I haven’t seen my mom since December and I really miss her, would love to have her come visit. Maybe soon.

Reply

Oh girl! I am truly so sorry! Feel free to email vent to me anytime!

Reply

Thanks Janae, I’ll probably be asking for tips to keep sane during recovery time.

Reply

I’m 30!

My parents came to visit me at the my company softball game/bbq on Saturday.

Cottage cheese…blech!

Reply

Happy happy happy happy birthday!

Reply

Cottage cheese with salsa (preferably black bean salsa)! Eaten with a spoon or tortilla chips if you’re feeling crazy ;).

Reply

Neon Glow. I bought a nail polish today and it is NEON. Love it.

My heart hurts when I come home with seeded grapes. As soon as I get the crunch, things immediately go down from there. It’s like finding a bone while you’re eating fish.

And I really like to split apricots, take out the pit, and fill it with cottage cheese, cinnamon, and maybe some almond butter. It’s such a good snack.

Reply

Used to be obsessed with cottage cheese…I ate it everyday for lunch, dipping my fruit and toasted bagel with PB into it. Think I overdid it one day and haven’t had it since. And now the whole no more dairy thing, yeah, that would do it.

Two words: surprisingly productive! Last visitor…peter was here this past weekend :)

Reply

Two words: bad headache! :-(

Last person to visit: my mom and stepdad were just here for the weekend!

Cottage cheese: can’t stand it, I’ve never liked the texture.

Reply

Is it safe to walk and read?? =)

Reply

Growing up my sisters and I used to eat cottage cheese and yogurt side by side in our bowl. My mom thought it was disgusting and I’m not sure how we came up with the idea but I still love it that way.

Reply

The other day at whole foods I prepared cottage cheese with honeydew melon. My life will never be the same!

Reply

That cupcake. Yum. I have never tried walking and reading. I feel like I would trip over something. My two words Tuesday: lotsa work.

Reply

Vacation time!!

Reply

OMG the same thing happened to me once at Sam’s Club – it was pretty much the worst day ever because of those darn seeded grapes! I have learned my lesson though and always double check the sign now! I mean seriously, why do they even make seeded grapes??? ;)

Reply

One word to describe my Tuesday: HOT!! Also, we went grocery shopping and got cherries and I am soooo excited because I have been wanting them like no other. So. Yay for that. Unfortunately, seedless cherries do not exist haha

xo

Reply

You need to try home canned peaches (if you can) with cottage cheese too. I learned of grapes and peaches with cottage cheese in the hospital after my last birth. I have been in heaven ever since!! ;)

Reply

I like cottage cheese, but seeded grapes….that’s just wrong! I think that they secretly sneak them in the store, but don’t want anyone to know that they have seeds because who would buy those??? Yay for your mom coming! How exciting!

Reply

Tuesday…sleepy. I can’t wait to get home and snuggle with a little someone.

I am BFFs with my mom and I know you are too, so this must be so exciting for you! I can’t wait to read about it all!

I love cottage cheese…try it with peaches and/or apple butter. Trust me, you will love it :).

Reply

Hot!

It’s close to 40 C (104 F). Temperature records are being broken all over the place.

Reply

Exhausting!! Had my little guy’s 9 month dr.s appointment and found out he’s dropped weight percentile again! And my husband is out of town!

Not a big cottage cheese fan but I haven’t had it in awhile so I might need to try it again.

Reply

Noooo! Seeded grapes are the worst, ugh! I’ve only ever tried cottage cheese once and didn’t like it. Maybe I need to try it again, maybe a different… flavor?

Reply

Obsessed with cottage cheese – had some last night with yellow mangoes and chopped roasted almonds, then again this morning on top of my cinnamon-banana-roasted almond-oatmeal :) moms are the absolute best!!

Reply

I bought grapes once at the local farmer’s market last summer and once I got home I realized they had seeds in them. I really wish the man would’ve told me that – it was really disappointing!!

Reply

Very hot! (But we really shouldn’t complain because in a few months it will be below 0 again). Cottage cheese- I eat it with a fork. Love it plain but I will try it with seedless grapes as you requested lol:)

Reply

I love cottage cheese with canned peaches (no heavy syrup, though) and any fresh berries. Side that with some graham crackers and Peanut Butter, oh my. May I dare say it’s as good as dessert to me?

Reply

It’s great that your mom is coming to visit–I’m sure you’ll really enjoy that. Grapes with seeds are a huge bummer. I feel like all packages of seeded grapes should have a big orange “HAS SEEDS” sticker on it or something. I can totally understand how you’d be disappointed. I love low fat/fat free cottage cheese with fresh fruit. It’s a great way to sneak in a little extra protein!

Reply

I have been reading you since about a month before beautiful Brooke was born! I cannot believe how much she has grown and how intelligent she seems! Babies develop sooo quick! You should be so proud! ( and obviously Billy too!)

I was wondering have you ever had a hip injury? If so how did you overcome it? Any advice would be truly appreciated! You are my running idol!

Reply

A baby’s laugh is definitely the best sound in the world! 1, because it’s cute. 2, because they’re happy. 3, because it means they’re not crying! ;)

Reply

Too much chocolate is basically impossible ;-) And I like cottage cheese, as long as I’ve got other stuff mixed in. I like mixing it with casein protein and peanut butter for a nighttime snack, or with stevia and topped with fruit and cereal.

Reply

Busy, rested

When I was younger I couldn’t stand cottage cheese, but now I think it’s amazing! I usually combine it with cinnamon, apple slices, and peanut butter.

Does the pig make a noise when the coin goes in? You need to video Brooke laughing, I bet it’s adorable.

Reply

I love cottage cheese plain, but also on top of roasted sweet potato fries with avocado. Probably strange combo but it’s delish!

Reply

Hooray for your mom coming to visit!
The last visit I had was from my parents. Having your mom around is always a special time.

Tuesday in two words: happy, exciting

I have never had cottage cheese :o/

Reply

lazy!
My friends are coming for fourth of july :)
I’ve only had cottage cheese once or twice.. not excited about it..

Reply

I used to LOVE cottage cheese with everything! fruit/veggie/salty/sweet you name it. Because I am gluten-free I found out gluten can be passed into milk through cows who are fed grains and realized I was having a reaction to anything dairy except eggs!! so no more cottage cheese for this one! It is amazing tho!

Reply

that cupcake looks amazing!

ooh, cottage cheese and grapes sound yummy!!!

Tuesday: Busy, cold outside!

Selene, one of my favorite people from college was the last one to visit me.

Love cottage cheese and pineapple!

Reply

I gasped in horror at the seeded grapes – that’s such an unpleasant surprise! I love cottage cheese and grapes!

Reply

I don’t even know why they make/sell grapes with seeds in them…who would want that? I bought them once on accident and I wasn’t sure what to do with the seeds. I think I ended up swallowing them to avoid the hassle of picking them out of every grape. Never again!

Reply

rainy & long

my friend josh stopped by on saturday until sunday morning!

cottage cheese is my fave and i use it to top salads and potatoes

Reply

PEANUT NOODLES.

I eat cottage cheese plain or with a banana

Reply

Tuesday? My Friday!

The last person to visit me? My parents. They were here last night.

Cottage cheese? Until very recently I only ate it plain. Lately I have been adding it on salads. I also tried it with grapes a couple weeks ago and was pleasantly surprised that I liked it!

Reply

Your baby is SO adorable!!
I have never tried grapes and cottage cheese, but I do love some cottage cheese with a fruit mix, like strawberries. :) I must go buy some grapes and try this.

Reply

Brooke is SO precious. Seriously the most adorable child I’ve ever seen!! I’m not even sure why seeded grapes exist, it should be outlawed. Cottage cheese with pumpkin, cinnamon & banana. Weird combo, but I love it!

Reply

I just love your CA life and am slightly jealous of it but can I just say I miss posts with your family?? Your Sunday dinners were always so fun! No, we don’t know each other in real life so is it weird to say i enjoyed your family? Haha!!

Reply

OMG, the seeded grape thing happened to me a couple months ago and it was tragic! I tried so hard to still eat them so they didn’t go to waste, but I just couldn’t do it! Ugh, so disappointing!

Reply

Going to visit my mom and dad next week and I am absolutely beside myself!!! Can’t wait!! My daughter LOVES that piggy too!! We eat cottage cheese daily. I usually pair it with strawberries before my workout, or with a sweet potato and half an avocado for lunch. Now I want some grapes….

Reply

She’s so adorable!
That pork salad looks so good! Why do your meals always look so good?

Reply

Crazy!

My boyfriends mom visited last :) it was nice because he was away so we got some good quality time together!!

I love cottage cheese! It used to be my favorite thing as a child. I like it more savory (with grilled pepper and onion or just ground pepper on top) I don’t know why but I’m not a huge fruit and cottage cheese fan

Reply

I like eating cottage cheese with honey!!

Reply

I LOVE COTTAGE CHEESE!!!! I mix it with salsa and dip chips in it, or mix it with guacamole. Or if I want it sweeter, I mix it with yogurt and top with fruit. I will also just eat it straight out of the container. I LOVE IT!! If you cant tell. :)

Reply

I haven’t had cottage cheese in forever! (because I cut out dairy to help with digestion) but I still love it! You have to try this combination sometime, my personal all time favorite! Cottage cheese with SALTED sunflower seeds! They have to be salted! The balance between creamy and salty is sooo good! Let me know if you try it!!

Reply

Tuesday = HOT! My daddy came to visit me today. I recently found a love for cottage cheese. Only plain so far but all these combos sound super good!

Reply

Tuesday = Negative splits! 5 x 400 woot woot
Cottage cheese as a dressing on salads is really good; I also eat it with apple butter and I want to try it with peaches

Reply

i’m drooling over that chocolate cupcake!

i love cottage cheese. i mixed raspberries and raw sunflower seeds into my cottage cheese yesterday. it might sound weird, but it was so good!

Reply

Seeded grapes are even WORSE than seeded watermelons. Gaaaahhhh!!!!

Reply

OMG–that toothless grin is the BEST!!! Enjoy it while it lasts :) ( I believe I may have read a post about a tooth, but I can’t see one in that photo so I’m pretending it doesn’t exist…)

I love how close you are with your mom! I wasn’t always with mine, but I can hardly go a day without talking with her now. I’m happy for you that you are getting a visit.

Tuesday–JOYFUL, my girls are finally on the up and up after a horrible virus went through our house. I am so happy to see them smiling and playing again!

Reply

Tuesday = Awesome

My last guest was my son’s girlfriend Julie. She stopped by today to visit. You can can thank her for telling me about your blog!

No matter how hard I try, I don’t like cottage cheese…

Reply

Ugh, I totally feel your plight. I did the SAME thing at Costco on Sunday. Luckily someone at work traded me my grapes for a mini dark chocolate mounds bar. I came out way ahead on that one!
Also, I swear Brooke just gets cuter and cuter every day!

Reply

Well I thought that yesterday was Tuesday so today was just confusing. A friend from church was the last person who visited. Love that picture of Brooke. She’s the cutest.

Reply

My good friend that lives in Norway is going to be staying with me this weekend. I am so excited!!!

My favorite is cottage cheese with pineapple but I will totally try it with grapes….just not the seeded ones! I think those are pretty pointless? Why would anyone choose those over seedless?

Reply

1. (TMI) but it is that time of the month for me and that cupcake looks soooooo good.
2. My first training run of my FIRST marathon was today.. Happy Training, right!?
3. I like to mix cottage cheese with salsa and the scoop it with chips. You NEED to try it, it is delicious.

Glad you get to see your mom!

Reply

My Tuesday – perfect and tasty. I had some good food with equally good people :D

Reply

Tiring Tuesday.

I love cottage cheese so much I can simply eat it with a spoon. I had some in my salad at lunch this afternoon. Seeded grapes are the absolute WORST. Grapes are my favorite food on the planet, but if I bite into a seed, I get a huge hole in my heart. I don’t like extra crunch with my fruit, I guess.

Reply

I’ve bought the seeded grapes at Costco before! Total accident! Why do they even sell them?!

Reply

I hate seeds you can’t consume, raspberries, strawberries, I love. Grapes, peaches, nectarines, watermelon, no thank you.

Reply

Oh my goodness! Smile of gums! Adorable.

Seeded grapes are totally lame! What’s the point of those!

Any time I get to spend the day at the lake you can be assured that it totally rocked.

Reply

Hectic! ;-) Every Tuesday at my work is. I have never tried cottage cheese (lactose intolerant) but the look and texture of it freaks me out haha! Yum, I looooove grapes and totally agree, seeds are the worst!

Reply

I ate at Jason’s deli tonight. I thought of you when I pilled my plate full (and high) of salad goodness.

Reply

I (unknowingly) bought those same (stupid) seeded grapes from Costco a few months ago – I ended up returning them because I was so annoyed by them.

Reply

Ahh, I am sorry those grapes were seeded… have you ever made “the grape thing”? I have never made it, and this is not my website, but I have always wanted to try “the grape thing” because I LOVE GRAPES!

Let me know if you try it.. http://baileybakes.com/the-grape-thing/

Reply

My friend Anne is in town right now visiting. She’s actually visiting for work, but I get to hang out with her.

Why would anyone want seeded grapes? I don’t understand why they even sell them!

Reply

Tuesday: hot and productive
I love crushed pineapple with cottage cheese.
My BFF is leaving Houston today to drive to Cali to see me :) I’m am excited beyond words!

Reply

LOVE cottage cheese, just plain cottage cheese. When i was little my Mom made me believe it was ice cream (we lived on a ranch in the middle of no where and she could keep these things from me for awhile). So at holiday dinners my Grandma would put the cottage cheese on the table and then I wouldn’t want anything else, because HELLO I thought it was ice cream.

Reply

Not a cottage cheese fan…but love grapes and yogurt!

Reply

I love seeded grapes and seeded watermelon! They just feel more “natural” to me. I also love discovering seeds in bananas (rare, but it does happen sometimes in the organic ones). Am I crazy!? :)

Reply

Oh no, who WANTS seeded grapes?!

Reply

I need to get that piggie for my grandson! He is very smiley just like Brooke – I think he would love it. Do you know who makes it?
