12 miles–> check. Lots of refueling–> check check.

Saturday morning started bright and early at the park track loop at 5 a.m. with my dad.  I walked with him for a mile until it got light out and once it did I set out for my 12 mile run.  It got hot fast and by mile 10 my mouth felt like sandpaper so I stopped at a gas station for 2 minutes to get a drink.  So my average pace without the stop was a 7:20 but if you factor in the stop it was a 7:30 average pace.

The entire run I fantasized of a Which Which sandwich for lunch.  I had the buffalo chicken sub and it was everything and more that I dreamed it would be.

We ran some errands including to get Brooke more pajamas.  As soon as I gave them to her she cuddled them and refused to let us take them away from her.

The greatest part of the day was definitely hanging out with my brother.  He is a pilot so he comes to visit often… he actually is the funniest person you will ever meet.

IMG 0519

He loves trying new restaurants and so I went with him to try his first Philly Cheesesteak from the Italian Place (a must if you come to Utah County).  I was still a little full from lunch but I couldn’t pass down their garlic bread covered in cheese.

Please note:  Long run days = 20 meals throughout the day.

After hanging out at my sister’s house for a while and taking a glorious nap I went on over to Kneaders for dinner.  My dad loves their turkey, bacon and avocado salad so I copied him because I trust his good decisions in life.

Enter in a walk with Maggie, Brooke and my dad:

And the best part of night time is ice cream in your bowl.  (Now read that sentence again to the tune of the Folgers coffee commercial).

I had both flavors in the same bowl which was weird in a good kind of way.

Happy Sunday!! What are your plans today?  Have you eaten anything delicious this weekend?

I plan to sleep since I work the overnight shift this whole weekend :) My long run day will be Monday or Tuesday. I have to switch them to coordinate with my work schedule :) I’ve eaten yummy salads and apple cinnamon toast all weekend!

Great job on the 12 miler! I love that you get to have that new bonding experience with your dad- how special!

Nothing too special on my menu this weekend but I did randomly have Pizza Hut on Friday and while my thighs probably aren’t happy about, my stomach was! It was a nice, random little indulgence :-)

I had red velvet cake ice cream last night. It was amazing. I’d say that was the highlight of my weekend in foods thus far. The only way I get through long runs is by dreaming about all the amazing food I’m going to eat after. It’s pretty much the way approach if you ask me. I’ll run for milkshakes, no problem.

Reply

I have a “Will run for ice cream” headband :-) I need to try the red velvet! That’s one of my favorite fro-yo flavors.

Reply

I love everything you ate today. So much. I la tour de restaurants every time I visit Utah too. It’s a must.

Have you tried the thanksgiving sandwich from which wich! It’s sooo good: turkey, stuffing and cranberry sauce. Ahh, now I want one.

Reply

Way to go on your 12 miles!! Which Wich is a great reward. I’ve never tried the buffalo chicken, but I love the black bean patty.

I had a run a few weeks ago where all I could think about was a PB&J sandwich- I could literally taste it.

Taking a spin class today and just hanging out with the husband!

Your daughter hugging her pjs is adorable! So cute.

Best thing I ate this weekend: cookies and “cream” coconut milk ice cream. Yum!

I hit a new race distance of 16 miles yesterday for my first mrathon training. I feel like I’ve eaten at least 20 meals, but I find it hard to eat the first few hours after the run which is knew to me.! Today will be yoga and a walk!! That ice cream look so good.

Reply

I ate 4 pieces of vegetable pizza last night and they were SO good.

My plans today are to hang out with my husband, maybe sew a little, and relax.

Reply

Ok I was just about to say we had veggie pizza last night and it was incredible! Washed down with cookie dough cupcakes and it wasn’t too shabby! Great job on your 12 miler janae!!!

I can’t stop eating on long run days. It is a little ridiculous. Today I plan on getting another run in, I’m still trying out my new running shoes, while doing 500 loads of laundry.

I have a freezer for of ice cream right now and it makes me happy ;-) Plan for the day includes a lot of relaxing, a bit of cleaning, and taking the dog to the off-leash dog park!

Went to a birthday party for my uncle last night, and they the most delicious deserts there–little bite-sized raspberries cheesecakes each topped with a HUGE raspberry, bite-sized baked s’mores, and almond joy cupcakes! I samples them all and went back for seconds on the raspberry cheesecakes and the s’mores! :)

Twelve milers are by far my favorite distance right now. A while back I never ran them…it was either 10 or 13…I don’t know. Now I generally run about 12 every morning and I always fantasize about what I’m going to eat afterwords LOL.

Reply

Aww, that picture of Brooke with the pajamas is so sweet.

Favorite thing to eat this weekend: chocolate peanut butter cup cupcake from Crumbs! :)

Reply

Cutest picture of Brooke!
I don’t think I’ve had anything really great to eat, which kind of makes me sad.

Long time reader, not commenter here. You should come to NW Iowa and we can run 10-20 miles together, our daughters can play and I will take you to the Ice Cream Capital of the World, Blue Bunny!!! It’s the coolest place ever.

Reply

I’m visiting the west coast in November, and just from reading your blog I HAD to had a stop in San Francisco and a stop in Utah on the way home! I can’t be more excited. If you ever have a spare moment, could you tell us your favorite things/must do’s in those cities?

Reply

Annnd when I say Utah, I mean SLC, of course :)

I also ran 12 miles yesterday…and I also ate approximately 12 meals :) Started out tame and fairly healthy with a very yummy Tofu Scramble and Hash after my run…but by the end of the evening, I was consuming a rather generous portion of good ol’ beer and chips. :)

Today, I have a 30 minute cool-down run. Happy Sunday!

Reply

Great job on the 12! Headed out shortly for six with my hubby then off to watch my college aged kids do the Warrior dash this afternoon. A big turkey leg and a beer while spectating is on the agenda. Enjoy your Sunday!

This weekend we’ve gone to my hub’s HS reunion, I’ve finished a mystery object box project and started to design my dream playroom for our daughter, and we’ve sold much furniture as we prepare to move… soon!

The best thing I’ve eaten is homemade granola with Trader Joe’s organic yogurt which I was craving last night. Gotta listen to one’s body, right?

Reply

Sounds like so much fun to eat out all the time…the garlic cheese bread looks soooo delish! How is you sister doing? Havent seen any pics of the two of you. When I visit my sister we are always taking pics of the two of us doing silly things with silly faces. I can only imagine how much fun you two are having :)

Reply

Yum! Those ice cream’s seem delicious together in my opinion! I like that salad, simple but good :) Just relaxing and getting a few house chores done :)

Going to get a short run in, take my little guy over to where my parents are camping so he can spend a few days with them, and have lots of alone time with my hubs!

Reply

I get to head up passed Sacramento to be a counselor at a youth retreat this weekend. I will return on Wednesday, short on sleep and kind of in zombie mode, but full of the Holy Spirit. I hope that’s how all the youth campers return, as well ;)

Reply

Today was my first run with CharityMiles and I ran four whole miles (compared to my previous miserable 0.9) fueled by the gorgeous afternoon weather, Central Park sights and the fact that my runs were helping the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
SmartPhones are so damn cool I don’t know why I waited so long – oh wait I do, it’s coz data is expensive.

Such a cute haul-cuddle from Brooke x)

I got my chocolate covered cinnamon bear fix last night at an Orem Owls game. So fun! Today is church and rest:)

Refueling is the best thing about long runs. Nom noms galore!

The best thing I ate lately was a roasted veggie wrap with cashew cheese spread. SO good!

Reply

No major plans for Sunday here, just relaxing with the family. After a busy few weeks, I am SO looking forward to it. Also, you look SO much like your sister in the first picture of this post.

Reply

Today I’m off from running and I’m going to meet a friend for brunch-however, I first had to sit on the couch, drink my coffee+chocolate chip cookies from TJ’s , and see what was going on in YOUR life ;) I ran 14 miles Yesterday an all I did afterwards was eating, napping for more than 2 hours, and eating again. These long run days are going to be so unproductive for me… Happy Sunday!

Reply

Oh goodness, that Reese’s ice cream is the best! Is the red velvet flavor good?! I always go back and forth about buying it because I’m not sure how much I’ll like it.

Love the photo of Brooke cuddling her PJ’s! So cute!

The picture of Brooke cuddling her pjs is SO cute!

Way to go on your long run! Even though there was cloud cover yesterday it was muggy and warm=lots of sweating and needing water.

So did you end up ordering a new pineapple shirt? Or were you able to get the makeup out of yours? I love that shirt. And I am loving your center part/hair! I have tried that with mine and I can’t get used to it. I need to do something different though…considering my hair has been the same for like 15yrs now.
That pic of brooke cuddling her jammies is adorable. Seriously. I want to eat that little girl up.

Reply

Had Cheesecake Factory last night, went with the garlic noodles (highly recommend) and shared red velvet cheesecake, original cheesecake, and the strawberry shortcake with my husband. To say it was hard to share the dessert is an understatement.
Went on an easy run with my friend and we gossiped the whole time, which means it was a great run!

Reply

i did a 17.5-miler yesterday which meant a big bowl of pesto chicken pasta after. it was divine. your family looks like they are a blast!

I love how Brooke cuddled her pj’s!

I had the best burger last night at BrugerFi. We ate there before going to see Despicable Me 2 with the “kids”… yes my sons are 23 and 25. It was so much fun!

Getting ready to go run in some serious altitude….about 6,000-7,000 feet and I run at sea level regularly. This should be interesting! Today I will be eating blueberry pancakes after my run! Nice job on 12miles!!!

Reply

I am still road-tripping with my family, so we are in Salem, OR today and Silver Falls tonight :) I did a x-train/sprint type run this morning. Yesterday, we ate at Big A$$ Sandwiches in Portland. It was amazing in a heart attack giving way (fries on every sandwich).

Reply

You are so speedy, it’s crazy!!! :) And all of that food looks delicious. I totally re-read the line to the tune of the Folger’s commerical song haha

xo

Reply

I had a red velvet CUPCAKE yesterday. Does that count? You’re glowing in that first picture…maybe it’s because you have your favorite sandwich in hand. That always does it for me ;)

Reply

I am about to leave for a 15 mile run, and hope to finish up some room painting afterward. The yummiest things I have eaten this weekend were two organic fugi apples that were perfectly crisp, sweet, and juicy.

Reply

I can’t imagine running 12 miles! I ran my half last month and swore I’d never run that long again. Haha! ;) That picture of Brooke and her PJs is too cuteeeee

Reply

I LOVE that pineapple top – I know you put it in some previous post where it came from but for some reason I didn’t write it down. Can you share the name again please?

Like Brooke, I got new PJ’s this weekend too although the grown up kind – sweatpants from Victoria’s Secret. I’m obsessed with their Love Pink sweatpants.

I just took two days off from running, it was fabulous. I was exhausted earlier this week so the rest days were much welcomed. I did some cross training at the gym this morning!

Reply

Yay for new pjs! It is from j. Crew!

Reply

How cute is Brooke hugging her pyjamas! lol adorable!!

Great work on your 12 miles yesterday, I hate the sandpaper thirsty mouth. A trick that I use is to chew gum on my runs because it keeps your mouth moist and you don’t get as thirsty. Try it out!

Reply

Which Wich is one of my favorite lunch spots! Love the buffalo chicken with mozzarella. YUM! And, yes, ice cream is always the perfect way to end the day.

Reply

looks like fun! We went to Costco looking for those ice cream bars of your dad’s and they didn’t have them. :( We did get fudge bars though :)

Reply

Glad your 12 mile run went well!! I just finished running 13 and even though it went well and is a beautiful day here I am glad to relax for the rest of today!

Reply

I totally agree. Long runs = lots of food the rest of the day! haha
Also that ice cream sounds amazing!!

The boyfriend and I tried a new-to-us place last night. We were craving breakfast for dinner. In addition to eggs, turkey bacon, and turkey sausage, I had pancakes for the first time in forever last night!! So delicious! The boyfriend had an AMAZING breakfast sandwich = two fried eggs, pastrami, grilled onions, and mustard on toasted bread…..WOW WOW WOW!!!

Congrats on your double-digit run!!

Reply

Awesome run. I made 10 miles on the treadmill, but wasn’t feeling too great. Ran at about a 7:45 pace.

Looks like those pjs came from Costco =). We were just buying some for my son there yesterday. Can’t leave costco with out something extra.

Big Which wich fans in this house. There is one about 5 minutes from our house and we love the free whiches after so many points – definitely a bonus!

Reply

Brooke is the cutest thing!
Awesome run!! You go girl!!! Whoop whoop!!!

Reply

Great job on your long run!!!! I always crave watermelon after a long run but I crave ice cream after a nap. Maybe good health leads to craving healthy things and lying around sleeping makes me crave bad things. Glad I run WAY more than I sleep. I found a SUPER peanut butter/chocolate chip protein cookie recipe. It tastes awesome and it’s gluten free. Check it out

I actually tend to be an bottomless pit the day AFTER a long run, which just so happens to be today. I had the most AMAZING quiche and fruit this morning for brunch, which was just the beginning of the fun today. My desert to the quiche, I had my first taste of Sea’s Candy as free samples at a mall near where were staying in Indy (the candy…to DIE FOR! And yes, I went back for a second free sample when I saw the worker change. No shame).

And we have a wedding were going to tonight. Wedding cake + day after a long run….I hope they ordered extra…and to go boxes.

Reply

Please tell Brooke to stop being so cute. I really can’t deal.

Great 12 miles!
I had to skip the nap after my long run yesterday to go to a concert with a friend :)

Reply

You didn’t have to tell me to read that sentence like the Folgers commercial, I already had! ;-) Your hair is looking fabulous these days.

Today I ran 9 miles and am now eating before going to a blackberry festival and then on a hike with my sister. Then it’s family dinner, like every Sunday. I love Sundays. I hope yours is fantastic!

Two things:
