Something I don’t think I have told you.

I don’t think I have ever mentioned this before but I really like living in California.

This is the view we had as we were driving down the coast from where we were camping (Half-Moon Bay) down to Santa Cruz for a beach day.

No drive along the coast would be complete without stopping in Davenport for our Fish and Chips.  These hold a special spot in my heart.  We took our friends for their first time and they  also agreed that these fish and chips are the best food on the planet.

We made it down to Santa Cruz and it wasn’t exactly beach weather so we just hung out and took naps on the beach (or attempted to take naps on the beach but a certain somebody wasn’t in the mood for a nap).

ALWAYS a good sign when you go out to eat somewhere…. if there is a crowd.  Eat there.

I am pretty sure this place (Mariann’s) has at least 100 flavors of ice cream to choose from and after sampling ten of them I decided on the caramel fudge crunch and the oatmeal raisin cookie dough flavors.  Billy had raspberry cheesecake and blackberry.

I am still kicking myself for not getting it in a cone because how amazing does her cone look.  You live and you learn I guess.

Today is a rest day for me which is perfect timing because the three of us all slept 10.5 hours straight last night… camping is quite tiring it turns out and there was no way I was going to be getting up early this morning:)

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!!!

Again, I’m jealous of where you live because of the places and restaurants in your area! Plus, you get to go to the beach whenever which is a dream of mine. Maybe someday! It must have been pretty cold since Brooke has her winter jacket on! At least she’s stronger than Billy ;-)

The fish and chips look amazing! And Bangs Friends cone looks yummy! I hope we get PCS’d to Fort Irwin, if we do I’m going to run as many trail races in Cali as I can and eat at all the places you mention!

ps i now have a serious craving for ice cream. soooo good!

I’m all about Ice cream places with lots of flavors. I usually get them in a cup with a cone on top because I’m afraid I’ll get jipped if I get a cone. Best of both worlds. Today marks the end of my 2 weeks without running. I think I will get Ice cream to celebrate.

Gorgeous! I would love to be able to go to Santa Cruz for the weekend. So jealous!

That beach scene looks GORGEOUS. I recently just discovered that the ice cream place from my childhood has a different location about 10 minutes away from my house…commence excessive ice cream consumption for the next, well, forever.

How incredibly beautiful! I love visiting CA, and can’t imagine what it would be like to live surrounded by such sights every day. Different from Alabama for sure.

I am so excited to see the pics from around Half Moon Bay, specifically. I will be doing my first race in CA ever — the Half Moon Bay Half Marathon — there in September!!

I need to come visit California – haven’t been out there in about 20 years!

For dinner, I went to the Hofbrauhaus in Chicago. If you don’t know, a big biergarten to go to in Munich is the Hofbrauhaus Das Original. It’s fantastic – I was there in Spetember. The one ‘in Chicago’ is bizarre – it’s not actually in Chicago but Rosemont, a weird convention center type suburb out by the airport. You really have to search for the Hofbrauhaus as their are no signs whatsoever.

Oatmeal raisin cookie dough? Ahhh my favorite cookie turned into an ice cream! But I definitely agree with the cone bit… I always go for a cone because of that last bite – there’s nothing quite like it.

Love those fish n chips too! And I think we were at Marriane’s with my sis on the same day! Wish I would’ve bumped into you to meet you in person!! Next time you’re down, go to Zachary’s for brunch. That’s what we did/do on Saturday :)
