My Garmin gives me compliments.

Today’s workout was supposed to be done entirely on the track but I got kicked off after two miles because the high school kids needed to have practice… they wouldn’t understand that my coach TOLD ME to run at the track. Rude.

To avoid getting lost two days in a row I pretty much just ran back and forth on the same street and passed by this beautiful lake and sprinklers way too many times. Not very nice Phoenix to tempt me the entire time to pause my garmin and jump into this beautiful water when you are so stinkin hot outside.

Photo 1

Something that I really love about the Garmin 10 is that it let’s you know when you have set a new speed or distance record. Even though this is the only 10k I have done using this Garmin I still felt really cool when it told me it was my fastest 10k.

Please remind me to charge my Garmin on Twitter or something tonight because chances are I will forget and be very upset about it when I try to turn it on in the morning and it is dead.

Photo 2

Today’s goal was a 10k with some positive splits. I started with a .5 mile warm-up and then my splits went like this: 7:13, 7:12, 7:10, 7:05, 7:00, 6:54 and last .2 at 6:45 pace.

The first time in the history of my life I actually accomplished negative splits and my first mile wasn’t my fastest like it usually is. Maybe I am learning something. Finished off with another mile cool-down.

Photo 3

And came back and drank 3 entire camelback water bottles. I sure bet Billy misses me coming back home to him in the morning bright red, sweaty, with crazy hair, high on endorphins and telling him about every detail of my run. PS I miss him.

Photo 4

My sister in law and I actually lived together before either of us got married so staying with them is kind of like a flashback to the past especially because she used to always cook for me. Nothing like finishing a run and having eggs and hash browns made for you to eat. Lots of ketchup added to both my eggs and hash browns.

DSC 2422

After lunch we went to go buy ingredients for the below beautiful dessert. No Bake Chocolate Eclair… my SIL has made it before and said it really is one of the best desserts she has ever had in her entire life.

Eclair Dessert 7

While we were at the store I saw this amazing bouquet. Who would choose real flowers when you could get a bouquet of candy bars.

Would it be weird to buy it for myself?

I haven’t asked you in at least a week…. what was YOUR run today? How was it mentally? Physically?

What is your favorite kind of flower?

Tell me honestly what one of the best desserts you have ever had is?

How often do you eat eggs? How do you like em…. scrambled/poached/fried/sunny side up/froached?

omg, summer running in Az sucks!!
I find myself planning my route around the city sprinklers! It’s the only way I can survive in the true heat of the summer, ick!!
Welcome to Az!!

LOL that is a great idea! I will have to try that :P

I love your Garmin! The color is so pretty, I have the 610
But I’d like to get a pink or purple 10z

It went for a 3mile run today. Mentally I was there, but physically not so much. I do not think that I had enough water yesterday, because I was showing signs of dehydration halfway through my run (that rarely happens).

My favorite flower would have to be either a day lily or a gerber daisy.

I am not a huge egg person. When I do get the craving, I make them scrambled and wrap them in a tortilla :)

I started watching Netflix (Parenthood; at least three people have told me repeatedly to start watching it for months now) during my easy runs at the gym, and today I had to switch treadmills a bunch of times to get a good wifi connection. Surely that added substantially to my workout!!!

It is impossible to list one favorite dessert. How can you ask a question like that? Now I will be racking my brain for the rest of the day trying to make a decision.

Since I’m crazy out of shape from pregnancy and having to cut back for several months before that, I’m currently doing the Couch to 5K program to get back in the groove of running again. I just barely finished my run for the day! It feels so good now that I’m finished, but there were moments that it was mentally tough! Being an exhausted mom to a newborn will do that to you I guess. ;)

And I have to answer the dessert question because I LOVE desserts (who doesn’t?!)… I love homemade brownies from scratch (so simple, but SO good) and chocolate chip pizookies (underbaked “pizza cookie”). Ice cream is always a great choice too. Aaand now I NEED dessert!

Reply

I LOVE scrambled eggs and could eat them every day. I can’t stand ketchup and just the sight makes me nauseous. I can’t thank you enough for for not showing me the ketchup WITH the scrambled eggs. You are very kind. I’m glad YOU like it though!

Reply

I miss coming home red in the face with sweat dripping everywhere after my runs! That garmin of yours is pretty nice to let you know when you’re FAST. I would definitely vote the kitkat flower my favorite ;) A while ago you posted a recipe for these s’mores bars and I swear they are still the best thing I’ve ever had.

Reply

My run tonight was my fastest 5k since returning to running last month after 6 months off due to my ITB problems!

Love to make my eggs scrambled with tons of veggies – peppers, onions, mushrooms.

Reply

That’s super speedy! I finally broke the 60min mark with my 10km, 58.29!

Although that calorie count seems a little exaggerated… Oh well. Chocolate it is!!!

Reply

I like this candy bouquet idea… I should tell my mom that next time she’s thinking of getting something for me. I don’t care if it’s the only 10k run on a watch (or daily mile or whatever), if I get a compliment from it it’s a big confidence booster. I’d probably save that screen on it forever haha best dessert: anything with marshmallows, ice cream, or thick chocolate cake. Or funfetti, or chocolate chip cookies. Ok, I’ll eat anything for dessert.

I had a track workout this morning which was good. I was supposed to do 2 x400, 2 x 800, then 2 x400 all at 6:20 pace. I wasn’t feeling the 800’s so I only did one, but it was a pretty good workout.

Reply

The sprinklers are calling to me…. I want to run through them  And I wouldn’t mind a slice of that eclair either. I’m not entirely sure what the best dessert I’ve ever had is, since when the sweet tooth hits, pretty much anything with sugar in it will satisfy, but ice cream cake is pretty high up there. As for eggs, I go through phases. I’ll go through a period where I’m eating 2 a day, and then another period where I don’t eat any – and I like them any way as long as ketchup is involved :)

Great job on the run today!!!

I have the Garmin 10 too and I love the compliments! It’s always so exciting Haha.

I haven’t been runnig in a week since my body has decided to be sick for ohh about a month. I’m dying! Until then I’m living through you.

My all time best dessert is my Nan’s butterscotch meringue pie. It is fall off your seat delicious!

Reply

Nice job on the super fast 10K. Dang girl. And in the hear–wowzers!

I’d like a Swiss chocolate bouqet please!

Reply

Cala lilies are my absolute favorite!

Reply

My favorite dessert is crème brulee. Haagen Dazs has a Crème Brulee ice cream and it is TO DIE FOR!!!!

Reply

We had a “Track Meet” on base today- about 20 people showed up, and did a 1.5 mile race, a 3 x 600 (since we have a weird 600 meter track), and a 4 x 2400. I ran the first 2 (and was slower than I’d like, but oh well), and it was SO FUN! Nothing beats a bunch of adults acting like competitive little kids.
I think you just solved my dinner dilemma of what to make since the Husbeast took ALL the leftovers to work… EGGS!!!!! It will be 2 over easy so I can dip my whole wheat toast in that golden goodness. And some asparagus on the side (which is also really good dipped in egg yolks!).

Reply

My favorite kind of flower is hydrangeas. Beautiful!

One of the best desserts I have ever had is the Chocolate Box at McCormick & Schmick’s! Soooo good!

I eat eggs almost every day. Usually in a veggie scramble. Occasionally sunny side up on toast. Deviled eggs are wonderful, too!

Reply

Cala lilies are my favorite flavor. Picking a favorite dessert would be next to impossible for me. There has to be categories, like favorite cake (flourless chocolate), favorite ‘bar’ (carmelitas) etc – no way could I pick just ONE! I have had that éclair dessert. Soooo good. I may have licked a pan of them clean at a party once. Classy. What can I say? I like to leave a lasting impression with people!

I eat eggs a lot. Probably 5 of the 7 days in the week. I either eat them scrambled with avocado and salsa on top or hard boiled with salt and pepper. Mmmmm.

I didn’t run today. Today was cardio and abs circuit at RAGE. My run yesterday was hard for me. Mentally and physically. Not sure why. Boo. And whey the eff am I using your bib when you run that friggin Speedy Gonzales 10k?? You should be doing this half! I will be putting it to shame. lol.

Reply

whoa, speedy run! congrats on the positive splits :)

you just reminded me that i haven’t put ketchup on my eggs in forever! i used to do that all the time, but lately i’ve been obsessed with making egg/hummus/avocado sandwiches.

i love tulips or peonies. my favorite dessert ever is my grandma’s homemade apple pie. it’s seriously perfect and reminds me of my childhood. i’ll always love it!

Reply

I just did a quick 5 miles crazy early today due to leaving town. I decided to run 3 800’s in the middle just for fun. Plus I got done a bit quicker!
Eggs…..love them anyway but usually have scrambled at least 4x/week. Loaded with cheese and ketchup;)

Reply

Love that you’re making No-Bake Chocolate Eclair Dessert! … I agree with your SIL that it’s one of the best desserts EVER. Thank you so much for linking back to The Kitchen is My Playground and including our dessert on your site!

Best kinds of eggs: sunny side up. Or poached, but I only order those in restaurants because I can never do it myself.

Reply

Today’s run was an easy 3 miler. Just didn’t have time for more but that’s okay. What a great run and yay for negative splits, so speedy!

Reply

Your times are AMAZING! Congrats
OK I am a slacker and no run today… but in my defense, I had to work and did not sleep well last night, so the alarm went off and…. SNOOZE button was pressed! I am running tomorrow before work. so updates to follow.
Lillies are my fav.
The best dessert is strawberry pie! I just love fresh strawberries, gramham cracker crust with whipped topping! Hello SUMMER!
I love eggs! Looking at your pics really made me crave eggs! My favorite is sunny side up with toast to dip!… ummmm

So funny I just got kicked off my neighborhood high school track so the team could practice. I was soo annoyed!!!

I lived in Phoenix and trained for 5 marathons there and it is not a lot of fun!!! stay cool!!

My Mum is the only person on the planet who makes eggs the way I like them. Scrambled with a little bit of milk and then she puts cheese on top. They are the best. I don’t really like eggs unless she makes them for me.

:)

I’m sad that the Garmin 10 doesn’t have an option to take you back to your starting location like some of the other models (I have a 410 I don’t actually know about other ones). That would be darn handy! But it sure is cool to get recognition of your accomplishments via your trusty watch!

Reply

My run was really mentally tough today and it was hot hot hot in the Florida sun even at 630 am so I tried to find a path where I was mostly shaded. I really like tulips or roses, my dad gets me roses every year on my birthday (one for each year) and my mom saves the petals and dries them out and those will be used in my wedding for the flower girl. I only eat eggs when they are in baked goods.

Reply

My fav flowers are white hydrangeas….or York peppermint patties ;) I choose fried egg 99% of the time. And my favorite dessert is red velvet cheesecake!

Reply

I love when my Motoactv congratulates me for new speed records!

I eat eggs almost every morning. Sometimes hard-boiled but usually over-hard. The texture of liquidy yoke really grosses me out!

Every dessert you post looks SO good! And also bad. For my badonkadonk! :)

Lilies are my favorite flower. Susanna means “lily” and at the 20-something mark of labor with her, my dear hub went to the hospital gift store and bought me a bouquet.

I have a special sego lily something-or-other planned for her first birthday, which would make sense to those reading in Utah. (It’s the state flower and she was born here.)

My fave dessert would be either my mum’s strawberry summer thing (yes, that’s the official name) or my aunt’s turtle brownies.

i always forget to charge my garmin! i did ten miles today… in australia! it’s beautiful though very humid here.

Reply

My mom makes that eclair!!! It is the number one request she has for desserts! And it’s so easy to make

Today was a non running day, took a barre class and hung out with my baby nieces :)

I hate eggs. They are so gross to me. But I wish I liked them because they’re so good for you!

Reply

The best dessert I have ever had and ever will have is the richest, densest chocolate cake with chocolate icing I have tasted to date :)

Dang girl. I’m running a 10k this Sunday and would LOVE for my Garmin to say those numbers, haha ;-) Awesome job!

That’s it. I need a Garmin.

My run was awesome today – went out for 5 miles without a watch or ipod. I went out hard and kept it up the whole time!

I love creme brulee – the best I ever had was in a Boston bar at 1am and the server signed his name in it because he was bored.

I love eggs sunny side up with toast and jam of course!

Reply

I usually have an egg every morning. My mom and I work together and usually make egg mcmuffins every morning at work. Everyone’s always so jealous.

I’d rather get a chocolate bouquet over flowers any day. I always tell my hunny don’t get flowers, get something I can use….or eat :]

Reply

Wow those are great splits! My Garmin would be saying, “Come on, you know you can do better!”

There were no pictures of Brooke in today’s post; just saying!

Reply

I’m really trying to like eggs. I’ve avoided them all my life. I would say (other than eating them in cakes), the most tolerable is scrambled.

Reply

I make that chocolate eclair cake all the time to take to everything because it is so easy! It is always a huge hit!

Reply

I think you got kicked off the track because the high schoolers didn’t want to get shown up by a hot mama! That’s an awesome 10K run in the heat!

We eat eggs all the time. Scrambled & fried. In burritos for dinner. With PB for lunch (PB & fried egg sandwiches are incredible!). My girls love eggs too. They make a great quick-n-easy dinner on busy nights.

Reminds me of those fun ad campaigns: I Love Eggs, From My Head Down to My Legs! The Incredible, Edible Egg.

Today was a pool day; heading to the track tomorrow for a Lane 8 tempo run.

Reply

I ran 3 miles today in the hottest weather we’ve had yet this year. I love lilacs and I love lillies. The best dessert – strawberry shortcake with some vanilla ice cream and the chocolate that hardens over the ice cream. Mmmmmmm I eat eggs 2-3 Times a week. I like them fried or hard boiled.

Reply

Nice work and even nicer that it was sub 7!!!! BAM. My favorite dessert is from this Italian ice cream shop. It’s delicious creamy and fresh. The fact that I only get it once a year makes it even that more delicious.
I love eggs. I had a hard boiled egg for lunch, but my favorite is soft boiled eggs. Scrambled is probably my least favorite.

Reply

You’re really making me want a Forerunner 10. My old 305 works just fine so I don’t really *need* a new one, but boy do I ever want one of those purple ones. I think right now, my favorite flower is the pincushion protea. I’m having some put in my wedding bouquet and I am so excited about that. They look so cool. I’m also a sucker for tulips. Have a great evening! :)

I just started reading your blog and love it. I did hill work today and had to push myself to, I’m switching to a minimalist shoe, so my calves have been giving me some trouble.

I LOVE eggs and they make up most of my breakfasts and some dinners. I like them scrambled with cheese and sliced avocado. I’m impressed with the froached approach though. Might give that a try sometime.

My favorite desert is the Ben and Jerry’s peanut butter and banana frozen greek yogurt. It’s amazing.

Reply

I had a perfectly-made chocolate souffle when I was in Las Vegas. It was incredibly delicious and now I’m craving it.
Oooh great job on your fastest 10K! That’s so cool how your Garmin tells you that!

Reply

Hmmm…. so if the coach says “negative splits”, they end up being positive…. and when he schedules positive splits, they end up negative!? Reverse psychology!? Great job on your run today!! SPEEDY!

Reply

Boiled! And eating them while still warm with a little bit of salt.

By the way, will you be running Bay to Breakers on Sunday? I’m traveling from Portland tomorrow for it! :)

Reply

I really think that one of the best desserts ever is a half-baked, super-rich but not toooo sweet, brownie. Probably topped with a bit of vanilla ice cream, hot fudge, and a LOT of whipped cream. I’m making myself hungry here…

I like eggs just about any which way. In Singapore, it’s very common to get them…EXTREMELY soft boiled – like, the whites are just a little congealed and the yolks are runny. You break them onto a little saucer, add soy sauce, and slurp with a spoon. They’re delicious. Please don’t remind me about Salmonella.

But I also enjoy perfectly scrambled eggs (ie, not super overcooked and dry). And hard boiled eggs. Or an omelet. Shoot. I guess I’m pretty promiscuous, where eggs are concerned…

Reply

Wow you are fast! And I’m sure that’s not even your fastest 10km.

I just made a PB of 56mins and was pretty stoked. I’ve got my 5km down to just under 27mins so soon that 10km should come down too.

My first half-marathon this weekend!

Eggs always poached (scrambled makes me feel ill), I love tulips and best dessert was chocolate orange mousse at Rockpool in Sydney. xx

Reply

I haven’t asked you in at least a week…. what was YOUR run today? How was it mentally? Physically?

I ran yesterday and it was going BEAUTIFULLY till I tripped on some stupido pothole (looking at you glasgow council) and hurt my knee a bit. The rest was slowww and not comfy/w walking bits. Todays swim session was ace though!!!

I like poached eggs best, boiled with soft middle second and occasionally scrambled though I dont like butter in it. I DO NOT like fried eggs. Bleuch

Reply

I’m still resting from a tiny injury but hope to run this weekend! I wish my 10k time looked like yours :).

I’m not sure if this is the BEST dessert I have ever had…let’s face it, I eat so much dessert that it would be hard to pick just one. This is one that I actually make and it is a great summertime dessert.

In a trifle dish…layer funfetti cake, chocolate mousse (I mix together chocolate pudding and cool whip), funfetti cake, cool whip, and strawberries. Repeat until the dish is full! Now that cool whip makes frosting now, I may try that out in here.

Reply

I ran with the dog, and he was being a pain, so the run was a bit “jolty” :-)

My favorite kind of flower by far is tulips! Then, daisies. I just think of them both as cheerful flowers.

I’m a big fan of pie. One time visiting my sis-in-law on the shore, I had the best blueberry pie EVER. I will never forget it.

I eat eggs about once a week. Sunnyside up is the best!

Reply

It was ok (yesterday) because it was sooo hot. I wanted to turn around after the 1st half mile, but I ended up running the 2 miles.

Probably white roses

Créme Brulée

Like once a day ;) I eat the egg white though and I like them in omelet form on a sandwich or on a wrap

Reply

I like my eggs scrambled the best, and I totally wouldn’t judge you for buying that bouquet. In fact, I encourage it.

I ran my very first race today!!! It was only a 5k and my time was laughable compared to yours…but I finished! Now trying to find what race I can do next…

Ahhhhhhh congratulations!!!! That is so exciting!!!!! Racing is addicting!

I eat ketchup on my eggs too! My husband thinks it so gross. I find it to be so delicious.
I had a run yesterday of 5 miles, it was tough more physically and not mentally just because my body is exhausted from training.

I want that eclair cake! That looks amazing!!

I actually hate all flowers after a scarring childhood experience. Lucky Mike never has to buy me any!

I love eggs any way! Lol about getting kicked off for high schoolers. My run yesterday was exhausting- track meet! Two firsts!

I love eggs!! That made me hungry. I love your Garmin. I’m every marketers dream come true. Cute packing/products always suck me in!! I have the Garmin 305 which I love, it’s truly a mini running coach on my arm but not as cute as yours!! Do you know if your Garmin does what a 305 does?

Reply

Haha I love the candy bouquet, too funny!

My fav dessert is red velvet cupcake with cream cheese icing…sooo yummy

Just wanted to say congrats: those negative splits are BEAUTIFUL! Seriously, well done! And in regards to your 43:57 record for 10km, my Garmin would break for the shock!

Reply

FIRST – I love your SiL’s plate pattern :-) LOL

I haven’t asked you in at least a week…. what was YOUR run today? How was it mentally? Physically? I haven’t run today – will do so tonight. It will be a MENTAL clearance run though – I already know that.

What is your favorite kind of flower? The simple Gerbera Daisy.

Tell me honestly what one of the best desserts you have ever had is? Creme Brulee’

How often do you eat eggs? How do you like em…. scrambled/poached/fried/sunny side up/froached? 3-5 times a week. I love scrambled and poached!! Over easy.

Reply

That’s an awesome 10k pace! I actually am the queen of negative splits…however I didn’t even know that’s what I was doing! That’s how uneducated I am. :-)

Reply

I LOVE the color of your Garmin! :) I ate eggs for dinner tonight, and they were poached. I like gardenias, and I’m not sure what the best dessert I’ve had… uhm possibly red velvet anything!

Reply

I love peonies!!! I wanted them in my wedding so bad but they won’t be in season :(

Favorite dessert: They Hyatt Regency in Sacramento has a restaurant called Dawson’s. They has this chocolate souffle that has like cream on the side. You break the top of the souffle and pour the cream in the center. Best. Thing. Ever.

I LOVE eggs. Probably eat them at least 3 times a week but I’m switching over to free range organic local eggs and they are way harder to find.
