A peaceful run and flashback Sunday.

Somehow I woke up even earlier than normal to run yesterday morning. My body knew that it would melt if I waited to go running later in the day so instead I ran when the sun was rising while listening to Regina Spektor Pandora station. Talk about peaceful.

5 miles with average pace of 7:31 and when I got home I did my 8 minute abs and 8 minute arms youtube videos while watching Scrubs reruns with my brother, our favorite show to watch together.

And then we went to THE coolest park in the history of the nation (to answer your questions, yes I go to a park every day of my life and I couldn’t be happier about it:)

We rode on the train that went around the park and Brooke was a little skeptical about the whole situation. I think she likes the car better because it goes a heck of a lot faster.

And then we hung out at the splash pad.

And the carousel.

And then fed the ducks and ourselves the bread.

Dinner really does deserve its very own post because it was that amazing but I will try to give you the shortened version.

We wanted (actually needed) Oregano’s for dinner but didn’t feel like eating there because why eat at a restaurant when the living room and your pajamas are at home? Plus eating at home is a million times easier with kiddos.

Flashback Sunday (can you do flashback on a day other than Friday or is that cheating?) to the one and only time I had been to Oregano’s before last night. Billy and I came to visit my bro and his wife 3 years ago and they took us to this heavenly restaurant and I have thought about it ever since.

We had the Pablo Picasso salad (actually the best salad I have ever had… there was a separate container with the chicken and sautéed veggies).

BBQ chicken pizza. Got out my tape measurer to measure this pizza. There was an inch of pizza dough, 1/2 an inch of bbq of sauce and toppings and 4 inches of cheese. Don’t even get me started on how good the crust was.

Holy cow that pizza looks heavenly. I’m a sucker for big crust. I always have been. But when it’s loaded with cheese it’s even better. Especially at home on the couch watching a movie. I’m a big fan of the early morning running these days. It gets it out of the way so you’re not sitting there twiddling your thumbs waiting to go all day.

I am not a fan of deep dish pizza, and I LOVE cheese, I am not sure what my problem in there. :)

Ok now I must have homemade pizza for supper!! My BF wasn’t convinced, but all I had to do was show him the pic of your pizza and he changed his mind. Yum!! I’ve never had a salad where all the veggies were sauteed on the side, but it sounds awesome! All salads should be made that way :)

That pizza looks amazing! By the way, you got me and my sister in law hooked on 8 minute abs. I do it just once a week, but it’s such an efficient workout it’s got me all 6-packed and strong! I still throw some planks in, too, and the combination is all I need (and yeah, the arms video is hilarious. Soup cans? I think not!).

That run looks beautiful… So does the pizza!

Man, it’s been too long since I’ve had pizza. I wish I could spend my days going to parks!

Reply

That’s it, I’m making homemade pizza tonight. Your pictures sold the idea!

PS: I just got a purple garmin forerunner 10 and I LOVE it! I’m also pretty excited that today is a cross-training day instead of a running day.

Wow! That pizza looks amazing. I think going to a park everyday is amazing!

That park does sound awesome! We’re finally getting some warm weather here in Holland. Nowhere near as hot as Phoenix (I climbed the canyon two July’s ago and MAN – I’ve never felt heat like that!!!), but no coat needed so that’s improvement!

I’m not usually big on deep dish pizza, but holy.wow does that BBQ one look amazing. I suddenly have a huge craving for diving in to mounds of cheese and sauce, so I’m thinking homemade pizza is on the menu for tonight.

Happy Sunday, Janae!

That park looks incredible! I think carousels are just as fun for big kids as for little kids. And when I say big kids, I mean adults!

Jesus, that pizza looks incredible. I’m pretty sure BBQ chicken is one of my favourite types of pizza, second only to Hawaiian. Glad the kids had fun at that park!

It looks like a place called Lemmon’s Pizza we have here in St. Louis. AMAZING! It has more cheese and toppings than you could imagine and some major thick carb loading crust. You can eat once piece and be stuffed.
P.S. I can’t wait until I get to a 7:30 pace :)

Wowsers!! That pizza looks so amazing!

I LOVE Oreganos! I have one just a few minutes away… It is way too big of a temptation ;)

We went to that park all growing up! I even had a few birthday parties there. ;) The train is the best! Oh Oregano’s… How I miss you! I hope you got a pizookie!

Reply

I’m embarrassed to say that I’ve never tried deep dish pizza :( I don’t like thin crust though so I’m assuming I’d love deep dish!

Reply

Morning runs that help bring up the sun are my favorite! Your salad looks yummy!

What a fun day!!! That pizza looks amazing.

Brooke’s cutie pie thighs are so precious!!

I think you need to visit Atlanta. And bring Brooke. Oh, and some apple fritters. ;)

Hey! So weird! I was right by Freestone Park just yesterday. Drove through it and have been thinking that it is SO strange that you are in my town and I could bump into you at any time. I would love to meet up! I live in Mesa but was at Oregano’s pictured on Friday night! I know you are partial to your Yogurt shops but I would LOVE to introduce you to my favorite!!! Zoyo. It rocks. I can meet wherever and would love to talk running. I’m a teacher (last week of school!) so evening is best.
Let me know!!

My bad, just got the info! Will try & make Kiwi Loco! See you there!

Glad you beat the heat on your run–a must in AZ! And, dinner with PJ’s on will always trump dinner out for me too! ;)

Reply

Ohh my gosh that pizza. You look so different, Bill(y) looks the exact same! I’m really digging early morning runs too. I wish I could go to a park everyday!

Reply

OMG I LOOOOVE Oreganos!! I seriously love it there. I always get the meatball sub and you HAVE to get the sweet potato fries–they have this cinnamon spice on them and they come with this sort of spicy dipping OMG…. I so want them now.

Reply

Oh my heck!!!! I need to go back back and get those fries!

Reply

Do It!! I promise you will not be disappointed.

Oh and BTW–I was going to email you again, butttttt I got a 10k PR of almost 13 min yesterday :) I came in at 58:14 min and my previous 10k time was 1 hr 11 min :)

Reply

Ahhhhhhhhh congrats on an amazing personal record! You are incredible!

Reply

Mmm, that dinner looks delicious! I love that they kept the toppings separate so the salad didn’t get soggy!

Reply

What time do you normally run in the morning to avoid the heat? Do you go back to bed or just go to bed early?

I love Scrubs too! My boyfriend and I have probably watched the series about 3 times through

Reply

I think I might want your life. Mine is great and all, but that splash pad looks pretty awesome.

Reply

That pizza looks sooo good! Your pace for 5 miles is great. I’ve got a sub 9 minute goal pace for my longer runs….it’s hard work!

Reply

My hubby makes the BEST homemade BBQ pizza…but the crust on the one in your pic. looks to die for….yummy
