Almost too healthy.

Every morning I get excited to get Brooke out of her crib so I can see her morning hair.  Yesterday morning was actually pretty tame compared to normal.

I had the breakfast of champions. Cinnamon toast crunch.  Speaking of cinnamon toast, my dad actually does make the best cinnamon toast ever.  He knows the perfect ratios.

Then we got ready real quick for church.

Yes, I do get jealous of Brooke getting all of the attention.

Billy and I fueled during church with tootsie rolls.  I think I may take a few of these out this morning for my 4 mile run…. don’t want to have my glycogen levels get too low and then hit the wall.

When we got home we had leftover burgers from Saturday night and then we almost suffered from heat stroke in our apartment.  We are both too stubborn to turn on the air conditioning.  That money could go towards more important things like a fancy anniversary dinner this week at the cheesecake factory and splurging on getting an appetizer AND dessert with our meals.

We decided we needed to go out and enjoy the weather for a walk on the trail in our cool tank tops.

I think our walk outside put Billy in a healthy mood because when we got home he started making the most delicious salmon (we buy ours frozen from Costco), quinoa and sautéed spinach.  It almost felt too healthy.

My running mileage is picking up slowly but surely.  My running coach says he has a ‘method to his madness.’  His method = don’t build up mileage/speed so quickly that you reinjure yourself.  I have never tried this method before.   My method after an injury was always see how many miles I can fit in the week after my injury heals.  

I am up to four days of running a week.  I like the sounds of that and before you know it it will be five and then six… right coach?

Also made quinoa last night! I made a ton so looking for some cool things to do with it. I like some fish. Seared tuna is the best! And in Texas everything is Coke! What is pop???

Cinnamon toast crunch sounds soo good right now! Before my half on Saturday, I was running 3-4 days per week. It would have been nice to go more but I didn’t want to push any of the nagging sore spots. I can’t remember the last really healthy thing I ate.. oops. I might attempt to make tilapia tonight for the first time so hopefully that will turn out well! I always say soda unless it’s actually a Coke, then I’ll say that!

Too healthy- I know how you feel. That’s how I feel about salads. I run about 6 days a week, sometimes 7 but I always want to run more. Once I hit about 50 miles I’m usually pretty happy but that doesn’t happen often anymore. It’s better than being out for weeks at a time!

Your dinner looks delish–kudos to Billy. I really need to get back to eating lots of quinoa. It’s so good for you. Your Cinnamon Toast Crunch photo is making me want to go out and buy some sugary kids’ cereal. I love sugary cereal but try not to buy it often. I’ve been running 4 days a week, but now that I’m past my spring goal race, I’m hoping to knock that up to five or six once I get through my recovery weeks.

I’m glad you’re getting your mileage back up! I run four days a week, but I used to run six. Now I try to ride my stationary bike two day a week for cross training.

Last night for dinner I had chicken and broccoli, but my favorite healthy food is broiled or grilled salmon! I grew up saying pop, when we moved to Utah they say Coke (or was it in Colorado), and now I say soda.

I keep my running to three days a week, even though I’d love to run every day. I find it to be the perfect amount in not getting injured, as I have at least one day between runs. Any more than that and I think I’d be asking for trouble. But I keep busy with other fitness activities, and I still manage to fit in 17-20 miles per week.

Also, definitely not a fish person. White fish is all I can manage, and even then it needs to be breaded or battered.

Allllso Tootsie rolls are the most amazing ever and I want them so bad. That is all.

Hey janae! And everyone else who has advice,

My knees have been having some crazy intense pain when I start running. My last run was Saturday and they didn’t hurt at all then.

I think taking glucosamine could help, but if you have any idea on what it could be or how to ease pain it would be very much appreciated!

I am currently running zero and wish it was more!! The last healthy thing I ate was greek yogurt, strawberries and granola for breakfast yesterday. I really love fish, but I ALWAYs overcook it! POP!

I run 7 days a week.. always 6 to 7 miles per day and only do a day of rest if I’m sick or on vacation. Now I’m adding in swimming laps and biking..

I need to eat more healthy meals since I don’t ever lose weight and I could drop 10..

I say “pop,” but I’ve started calling it “soda” around people I don’t know because no one seems to know what pop is?? By the way, the flavored Tootsie rolls are my favorite candy EVER!!!! Well…those and Jelly Bellys.

How many days a week are you running on average? Do you wish it could be more?

Yes, like you I am recovering from injury. Last week I ran 4 days, this week I’m hoping to bump it up to 5 or 6 days. Today is my cross training day as I ran a race yesterday and P.R.’d – when the same thing happened a month ago, I ran the next day and ended up injuring myself and being out from running for 2 whole weeks. Hopefully I’m learning.

Last really ‘healthy’ thing that you ate?

I had a smoothie yesterday – blueberries, keifer yogurt, a shot of espresso and whey protein. It was actually delicious – I was a little weary of the blueberry/shot of espresso combo but I was running low on my stocks.

Are you a fish person? Salmon?

I love seafood – all of it. I had oysters and french fries for dinner last night. It was so good!

I’m doing a Run Less Run Faster training plan, so I’m currently only running three days a week. It’s a real change from my usual 6 days of running.

The last really healthy thing I ate was probably last night’s enormous salad for dinner. I love fish, but my husband doesn’t, so I only ever eat it if we go out for dinner.

I used to say coke or pop (I grew up in the south and my parents are from the midwest), but now that I live in New England it’s usually soda.

I run 3 days a week. I do wish it was more but im just building up and busy with phd work and the three swim sessions and yoga and strength i do a week too ha ha! Why am I not slimmer/fitter?! Well Fiona thats cause youve only kept this up for 2 weeks so far…

I am running 4 days a week on average right now. I can’t do any more than 5 or I get too sore on my long runs. I say soda all the way. I LOVE fish – salmon, haddock, cod, tuna yum :)

We call it fizzy drink or soft drink! Either of those or I call it by the actual name of the drink itself, coke, lemonade/sprite, coke zero etc!

I LOVE fish- especially salmon! I actually work at a Fish market/restaurant so I get to eat the best and freshest seafood which is pretty awesome! Looks like a yummy dinner :)

You say pop?! WOO! I thought that was only a Canadian thing… Most Americans I’ve come across say soda, so good job on getting it right ;) I definitely eat meals that feel too healthy sometimes, but it’s all about balance, right? Fish, though… I can’t do fish. I want to like it because of all the health benefits that it totes, but I just can’t get past the smell.

I’m running 3-4 times per week right now. With my current schedule of teaching, that is about all my body can handle; I’m kinda maxed out on energy right now.

Last healthy thing: dinner last night. My car broke down while visiting my bf, and so he (being the amazing chivalrous man that he is) drove me back to Canada last night. My mom (being the compassionate one that she is) welcomed us back with a hot dinner that also happened to be delicious! Herbed chicken, carrots, broccoli.

PS- my visit with him was still awesome and we even went running together, which we had never done before!

And definitely “pop”. It’s the Canadian way!

I think I have that same nail polish that Brooke is holding!!! I just got back from vacation so I honestly can’t remember the last healthy meal I ate! We ate so many delicious, but incredibly unhealthy things!! Lately I try to run a max of 4 days a week, I feel like with so many injuries, that is what has worked best for me. Ideally I wish I could run 7 days a week!!!

I like to run 4 days but lately it’s been more like 3 and some busy work weeks only two.
I am also recovering from an IT injury,I hate it, I want to do the really long miles, but know I shouldn’t. Not my first time having the same injury, so I have learned from my mistakes.
I grew up in Georgia and now I live in Texas in both states we say “Coke”. I’m a vegetarian and quinoa is one of my favorites.

I run 5-6 days a week and I think it’s a perfect amount! On my current training plan (which goes through next week) is 5x a week. Monday is xtrain and Friday is a rest day. I run all other days.

Right now I’m running 4-5 days/week. That is a good place for me to be, since I have a tendency to overtrain. I’m also *supposed* to fit crosstraining in on one of those off days (but I usually “forget”)

I run 4 days a week, cross-train one or 2 days, and then rest one or two days, depending on how much I’ve cross-trained. I’m happy with that, and I think my body is happy with that as well.

Last really healthy thing I ate was a kale salad topped with tomatoes and cottage cheese, but I ate that with a side of pizza…so I think that counteracts the healthiness of the kale.

I am a fish person only if I know how it’s caught. I’m a vegetarian (sometimes pescatarian), but I’m very eco-conscious, so I only eat seafood if it is caught sustainably. That being said.. I don’t eat it that often, and usually only eat it when I’m in the Florida Keys!

I was born in Chicago, so I say pop.

Glad you’re building up slowly and smartly. Coaches can be a real asset in saving you from yourself! Right now I’m only running about 4-5 days per week and keeping my mileage around 40, but Berlin training starts at the end of May, so it will climb then. I’m trying to enjoy the lull right now. I don’t eat fish, and I usually say soda.

Uggh I think I just injured myself. I’m for a 10k, I ran on Friday and Saturday woke up with pain in my foot and some swelling on the right side. My doctor is able to get me in for today. I am so mad at myself. The 10k race is June 1st, I will be extremely upset if I cannot run it.

Last night was my birthday dinner with my family and we had….salmon, asparagus, salad and French bread – all my favorite things. I found a new salad recipe and salmon marinade and glaze and they both were soooo good. And since there are only like 4 people in my family (including spouses and children) that like salmon, I got to take a bunch home for left overs. Yessss.

Right now I have not been running much because of shin and hamstring pain. I should take a complete rest, but the weather is so awesome that it is REALLY hard to not go outside and run. I had to for my birthday last week and we will see if I make it again this week. I usually only ever run 3 x a week and then cross train. My body doesn’t do well running high miles or daily. Perhaps your coach should talk some sense into me too.

I run 5-6 days a week and that seems to work well for me. My coach is on the same page as your’s and believes in building back up gradually to prevent injury. It’s definitely worked for me, so hopefully it will work for you as well.

My last healthy thing was a smoothy I made yesterday. I threw half the vegetables in the fridge in it along with some blueberries…It was good although next time I would skip the celery.

Soda! I made the switch a couple of years ago from 6/wk of running to 4/wk. I would love to run every day but my body says I need to take a break ;) I had a Cobb salad on Saturday which is “healthy” in spite of its bacon and chipotle ranch dressing haha

Ohhh, I love The Cheesecake Factory. There isn’t one close by, so I always make a point to go when I travel for work. My husband makes a killer maple and soy sauce glaze for salmon. Yum! I grew up in Atlanta where everything is Coke. But I usually say ‘soda.’ I LOVE Fountain Coke & Cherry Coke.

I usually run 3-4 times a week, swim laps twice a week, and try to mix in some strength training. If I’m training for a triathlon, I add in a few days of cycling. In the past I would try to run 5-6 days a week, but I ended up sidelined with injuries. Now I try to focus on quality runs instead of junk mile days.

I took a long break in the winter and filled in the other 5 days with Bar Method, but now that the weather is getting nicer and I’m no longer feeling burnt out from running, I’m excited to get back into it, which was exactly the point of taking a break:)

I eat a lot of fruit and a lot of salads.

I grew up saying Coke (we have a long line of Coca Cola workers in our family haha). I run about 4 days a week, sometimes 5. Any more seems to mess me up :(

I usually run 3-4 days a week, which seems to be the perfect amount for me to not get hurt and be able to keep up the long runs and mileage that I enjoy. It sure would be nice to pound out a run every day, but this works for me!

Can I just tell you how sad I am right now because I can’t run. I injured my hip/groin area Saturday during my long run. I had to have my husband pick me up because I couldn’t even walk. : ( This is the second time it’s happened and I’m not sure what is going on?? I’m going to take a few days off and just stretch. Really, really bummed right now. My first half is in July and I’m hoping I can ready by then…

Grilled chicken, brown rice and pineapple seem to be my go healthy meal these days. I run 4 days a week usually and cross train 2 days, rest 1 usually. I’m not big on fish, but I’m trying!

Cinnamon Toast crunch now comes in peanut butter…. Just thought you should know that valuable piece of information.
I had salmon yesterday and I try so hard to like it but I just can’t. I’m not a fish person I guess. Now shrimp, lobster, and crab…. oh man, I’ll eat how ever much you put in front of me.

Sadly, I’m currently only running 3-4 days per week. I’d prefer to be back at 5-6 but it’s going to take me some time (foot injury linked to bad shoes, finally got new shoes but still kind of rehabbing). But at least this weekend I WILL be running a half marathon, which is a big relief after the injury battle.

I grew up saying pop but have somehow transitioned to mostly saying soda.

Apple now has Rhapsody as an app, which is a great start, but it is currently hapremed by the inability to store locally on your iPod, and has a dismal 64kbps bit rate. If this changes, then it will somewhat negate this advantage for the Zune, but the 10 songs per month will still be a big plus in Zune Pass’ favor.

I just ran a half marathon last Saturday so I have been doing 4-5 runs a week…and yes I wish I could do more! I’m hoping with the Spring here that I can do more runs outside…I don’t do so well on the tready like you!

Hmmmm, I don’t run any days during the week. I have 4 bulging discs in my neck/upper back right now. I’m waiting to see what the neurosurgeon thinks treatment should be . But, I wish I could run 4-5 days per week!

The last healthy think I ate: Roasted Brussel sprouts for dinner last night w/Trader Joe’s Turkey Meatloaf and corn on the cob. YUM!

I think I usually say “Diet Coke”…..or maybe just drink? Like, Can we stop at the store for a drink? Hmmmm…..I’m not really sure, actually!

Last night’s dinner: grilled salmon with zucchini

Yes – I enjoy fish! I love salmon, mahi mahi, ahi, sashimi…YUM! Grilled is best!

Soda……though my midwesterner relatives say “POP”!

Salmon is one of the few types of fish that I like. If you buy the jalapeno artichoke dip from costco (NOT healthy, but delicious) it goes great on baked salmon. Seriously amazing. We generally just top the salmon, fold it in half and bake it until it is cooked through. Easy!

At work we spent about half the day last Friday arguing over what you are supposed to call it, soda, coke, or pop.

Here in Texas it seems like we always call it coke unless it’s something like a sprite or big red.

I agree!! I am in Texas and it is just “coke” for everything. “I am going to Sonic honey, what kind of coke do you want”? LOL

I run 5-6 days a week currently, but I’m running a half marathon this weekend, so that will cut back a bit soon!

Last healthy thing? I had a Larabar after my run this morning…does that count?? HAHA!

I love all kinds of fish, but smoked salmon is my favorite!

Here in the good ol’ midwest we call it POP!

My dad always made perfect cinnamon toast too! Brooke is rockin’ her hairdo. I don’t think I’ve seen a more adorable baby!! Your supper looks yummola-I would eat it right now if it was in front of me instead of this chex mix I’m munching on. I love ALL types of fish (cooked-I’m not a sushi kind of girl) I’m from Louisiana so I’ll eat anything that comes out of the water-catfish, oysters, crawfish, etc… And we say coke in La too. I have to bite my tongue not to laugh at people here in Ohio saying pop-it sounds so weird!

I say soda, but my hubby says pop (he is from Ohio) and I have been caught saying pop too. I run 3 times a week, Pilates once a week and a mom’s workout group 4-5 times a week.

I had a tuna wrap today. I also love sushi. Salmon, I have not had it in a while, but I like it.

haha. my daughter’s hair is CRAZY in the morning. i dread combing it. time for a hair cut.
i like to run 6 days a week.
and i ate fish tacos for lunch today = YUM!

That meal is beautifully healthy. I’m lucky if I eat a meal like that once a month. Yay for running so many days a week! I only run 3 days a week at this point, and that’s just because I’m short on time and like to weight train between days.

I always love seeing how people refer to their carbonated beverages. I’m from Indiana and say coke but I don’t know many others that refer to it this way. The rest are nuts and say soda
