A random running question.

Brooke’s suspicious face:

I went to a spin class this morning to get a sense for the style of spin classes around here before I teach tomorrow morning.  Let’s just say I think people are going to be weirded out by me.   I may need to be a little bit more calm than I usually am when I teach spin.  I go a little crazy.

One of the chores was going to Costco.

Let’s zoom on in to the cereal of the month.  THREE boxes in one… that means I won’t have to go to the store for my cereal refill at least for another week or so.

IMG 8044

I absolutely love the meal after grocery shopping.   Everything is so fresh and my omelet tasted like heaven (we also used our favorite omelet tip).  I love filling up my cantaloupe with greek yogurt, it just seems fancy to me.

And now Brooke is trying to help me blog.  She already wants to play with every computer, phone and iPad within 10 feet of her.   I have a feeling she will be that 5 year old begging for a cell phone.

Onto the random running question of the day….

IMG 0535

After my first marathon the first thing I did when I got home (before even taking off my garmin or washing the gatorade off of my face) was putting the 26.2 sticker on my car.  Having the cool car sticker may have been one of the reasons that I ran the darn thing.   So, what do you think about the car stickers that display your love for running…… weird, cool, lame, awesome?  Do you have one?

When was the last time you went grocery shopping?  Did you get anything especially delicious?

How old were you when you got your first cell phone?

-I started borrowing my mom’s cell phone when I left at 15 and got my own when I was 17.

You? Enthusiastic about spin? Noooo….. They will love you because everyone loves someone a little crazy ;-) I love when I see running stickers on other cars! I feel an instant connection with them and immediately start wondering about their times, training, etc. I don’t think I would put one on my own car though. I went grocery shopping yesterday because I decided instead of buying expensive cake balls I am going to start making my own that are even better! We will see how that turns out….

I have a 13.1 sticker… for now… until I run my first marathon in November! I like to brag, haha! :)

I was 12 when I got my first cell phone! I remember getting it for Christmas and it was basically as big as a brick, and super embarrassing if I look at it now.
Oh man, I haven’t been grocery shopping in about 2 weeks now and I basically have no food left. Oops. I really need to get to the store.

Brooke’s suspicious face is amazing! We went grocery shopping today, and as per usual walked out loaded with stickers. I never knew, before I had a kid, that every cashier at every store keeps a secret bucket of them for kids!

My husband put a 26.2 sticker on my car and sometimes I feel like it is “showy” but I worked hard for that sticker! Best thing from the grocery store was an Oskri coconut mango bar!!!

My sister and I just completed our first half and it was located in a city about an hour away from us. On our way home, we stopped into our fav sports store and got our stickers!! Love them!

I have a few stickers on my car, ragnar, and a few different ones from specific marathons. Sometimes I worry I give people a bad opinion of runners when I drive badly. But I’ve gotten to meet some awesome people from conversations started by my car stickers!

Reply

I don’t have a sticker but I feel like maybe I should. That’s so funny that putting the sticker on your car was the first thing you did. Funny girl!

BROOKE IS SO CUTE! I just can’t get over it!

Reply

I am running my first half marathon in April, but I refuse to put the 13.1 sticker on my car until I complete 2. That way I can say I have done multiple ones. I don’t know doing it more than once makes me feel committed to it.
Grocery shopping was Sunday and I was so happy to have a green apple I ate it for supper. :)
Good Luck tomorrow!

I’m personally not a fan of stickers on my car. But I love seeing ppl with running stickers on their car, instant connection with them haha

Reply

you are way cool! wish i could take ur spin class, have never taken one… someday i will earn that sticker and i will show it off!

Reply

I think those stickers are awesome. There’s nothing wrong with bring proud of your accomplishments.

I got my first cell phone when I was 12 and I hated it. I hated having to keep it on me and frequently left it at home when I could. Now I feel lost without my phone. My now times change

Brooke is adorable. I cannot get over how sweet she is…or how much she looks like Boo from Monsters, Inc. :)

I’m all about the stickers. People in Texas tell their life story through car stickers.

I get what you mean about the gym class situation. I went from a crazy gym with a lot of woo-hooing to a very calm and mature one. I find myself woo-hooing every once in a while. I miss the craziness.

Reply

I love my magnets for my half and my full. :) they were gifts from my husband and a fellow soccer mom. I always feel an instant connection when I see running stickers!
I wonder what Brooke would say if she was the guest blogger for the day! :)

Before I met my husband, I hated stickers on cars. Now I accept them. Our car has three: Boston Marathon, M-dot, and a flying ice cream cone aka Airborne wings. I find them helpful in locating our car, as sometimes they all blend together.

We also sticker hunt on the road, and call out what stickers are on various vehicles. It gives the navigator something to do on direct routes. We do that for bikes, too.

Reply

I started borrowing my mom’s when I turned 16. Didn’t get my own until I was in college. Yep.

I have yet to put a 1/2 marathon sticker on me car. I really want to put on one. I think the stickers are cool and love seeing them on the back of other vehicles. Instant wonder and connection :)

I like crazy spin/cycle instructors!! Shouting and hollering in fun encouraging ways. That’s part of the fun. One of my old instructors, Dave, was INSANE. We’d rock out to punk, rock and metal one day and then do some fun country another all while getting out butts kicked in the saddle. Love. Going to a new cycle class tonight. Thus far I have been unimpressed with some of the instructors I have had recently. unenthusiastic. bleh.

I LOVE the first meal after grocery shopping. Such variety to choose from!

I just ran my first marathon a month ago, and I’m considering whether I want a sticker or not. I’d like one I think? But I feel funny because I’ve only ran one? I don’t know. Perhaps I’ll get one sometime.

Reply

I didn’t my first phone til I was 19 or 20. Though I’m 30 now, so that was still 10 years ago.

Reply

Oh I love my 26.2 sticker on my car and I love seeing other running stickers on other cars. It makes me feel like a have a bond with that person sitting in traffic next to me (or does that sound creepy?)

Went to the grocery store last night and picked up Noosa yogurt to try. I got the blueberry flavor and OMG IT TASTE LIKE CHEESECAKE!!! CHEESECAKE!!! Seriously you have to try it. It is hormone free yogurt that is in the organic section, it is made in Colorado. It is not low fat or low calorie by any means but let me say it again, it is the best thing ever. CHEESECAKE!

Reply

I’m doing my 1st 1/2 marathon next month and I can’t wait to put a 13.1 sticker on my car. Went to Costco on Sunday and got a box of Lara bars. I think I got my 1st cell phone around age 29-30.

Reply

Pfft. Once they have a taste of the Janae awesosauce juice, they will never want to go back. I only wish I could go to your class. I got to my body pump class today 15 min early and all the passes were gone. Grrrr. I am so tired of my gym being so packed to the point of not being able to workout – it is annoying.

I have never put any stickers on my ca for tris, relays, halfs and what not. My friend bought me a 26.2 sticker to say congrats and that is the first time I have ever wanted to put one on my car cause dang I earned that. But Ross said no. He doesn’t want people thinking he runs or something. Whatever.

I was at the store yesterday. I got some blueberries from Costco that I can’t stop eating. But I need to go back and buy red bell peppers and hummus because I can’t get that idea out of my head.

Your meals have been so healthy and well rounded lately – and no candy. I am starting to worry that I don’t know you anymore ;) I know you are prepping your body for sub 3 and you will get it. I will be at the finish line to cheer you on!

I think I had my first cellphone when I was 20 or 21!

Love my sticker. I couldn’t help putting my 13.1 on the back of my car when I got home either ;)

Good luck with your spin class!! I just got AFAA certified this weekend I’m hoping to teach some sort of class in the future! :)

I got my first phone when I was 16- the school 3rd graders I intern with all had cell phones on the top of their Christmas lists.

My favorites to dig into after grocery shopping are fresh avocados and mangos!

P.S. I’m currently in a nutrition and fitness class, I am researching exercise and pregnancy. I was wondering if I could use pics of you while pregnant and some of you and Brooke from your half after having her for a powerpoint that I’m working on?! Thank you!!!

The phrase “I’m only doing it for the sticker” may have come out of my mouth when telling my hubs that I’m going to run a half….

Reply

I would NEVER put a sticker on my car before running. Now: well, I’ll post a picture on my blog :)

Reply

I totally put a 26.2 sticker on my car after I ran my first marathon! Sadly it has been removed because it got all discolored so my husband removed it but I have a 13.1 to put on there and will just have to get another 26.2 at my next marathon. Brooke is so adorable! I love her pigtails!

Reply

omg I WISH I had a 26.2 sticker on my car! Unfortunately, I don’t have a car to put one on… I bought a small one but I don’t know where to put it… And I didn’t get a cell phone until I was 16 because my mom said I shouldn’t be anywhere that I couldn’t borrow a phone until I could drive a car? Personally I think when your kid is old enough to be dropped off someone like the mall or a movie without a parent, then that’s when they need a phone.

Reply

I still haven’t gotten a cell phone (and enjoy life that way). I don’t have runner stickers on my car either, but I’ve got Green Bay Packer fuzzy dice hanging from my rear view mirror. That’s about as crazy as I get. :)

Reply

I think I had my first cell phone at around age 15. It was right before I got my license and my parents thought it would be a good idea to get one so I wouldn’t get forgotten at school or something…it’s hard to believe how far cell phones have come.

I don’t have any exciting stickers on my car :( But I do like the idea of them.

Reply

I have a 15k & 13.1 right next to my Brooks Running Freak sticker. :)

I went shopping just this morning. Nothing especially delicious or special. I’m feeding a family of 6 on a budget.

I was 20 when hubby & I got our first cell phone.

Reply

Just curious–I am noticing a lack of sugar and delicious desserts on your blog lately!! Where have the delicious desserts gone?? haha (I cant really run right now, so I come to your blog for inspiration to eat desserts and I am feeling lonely with my 1/8th of an incredible chocolate costco cake for dinner haha)

Reply

I have my Ragnar sticker on the back of my car. That darn race was tough so I’m gonna brag!!! I love race stickers, too bad you can’t wear your medal around( I think that would weird some people out). :)

Reply

I felt so awesome when I placed my 13.1 sticker on my car! WHen people ask me “which car is yours” I always say “the blue one with the 13.1 sticker on it”! I even put one on my computer so everyone at the library knows too!

One time someone asked if 13.1 meant a radio station -_-

Reply

Haha, the first sticker I considered putting on my car was my 26.2 from Boston (I think I considered it after my first marathon, but decided no, but Boston was a big one for me). I still have the Boston 26.2 sticker sitting in my garage (though the race was almost 2 yrs ago), trying to decide if I want to stick it or not.

Reply

I have a running shoe and a 26.2 on the back of my car and I feel like they justify why I am so antsy on the road. :)

Reply

mm. We have always been hardcore no stickers. Then our son joined the Marines and put a “proud parent of a United States Marine” on our Jeep. Hard to argue with that. So I put a “Gotta run” magnet on. It’s just a magnet. No commitment. ;)

Reply

I miss your spin class in Provo!!! Although I always felt guilty when I watched you run 10 miles before you taught and I was dying during class!!!

Reply

I am definitely getting a car sticker for the 26.2 miles this fall! I think that expressing your love for running is awesome!
Seriously, that omelet looks so good! I need to start cooking more!

Reply

Brooke’s going to be a social media maniac! Got my first phone in 7th grade. Poor billy having to work on vacation. I hope he got to eat lots of free samples ;)

Reply

I love the car stickers!! Well at least the running ones lol I want to run a marathon so I can put one on my car…Spaghetti Squash!!! I got one when I was 13, only because the ladies in the school office were getting tired of me using the school phone lol

Reply

I started borrowing my mom’s cell phone when I started driving (and dating!) at around 16. I got my own when I got my own car the next year. It’s crazy to me though that my cousins all had cell phones in elementary school, and so do their friends!

Reply

I got a cell phone in high school, maybe sophomore year? It’s because I was on the speech team and my mom wanted me to have a phone for when I was at away tournaments. Nerdy reason — but it got me a phone!

Reply

The last time I went grocery shopping was an hour ago. Well, kind of. I was at Target and thought of a few things I needed. Bananas and pizza. Both delicious!

I didn’t get my first cell phone until I was 24. That’s when they started becoming a more popular thing. My oldest daughter got one for her twelfth birthday. My youngest will at that age, also.

Reply

I have a 13.1 and a 26.2 on my car!! I have that same 26.2 headband also!!

Reply

Even though I love half marathons, I think the 13.1 magnets are silly (I’ve seen ones for 5k and 10k too… not to be distance-snobby but I don’t get it) but I do have the 26.2 magnet on my car along with a personalized “runner” license plate. Total nerd here. :)

Reply

That really does sound distance snobby…for some people, 13.1 or less may be the farthest they can go. I have a chronic illness that prevents me from ever being able to do a full marathon. I am just as much a runner as you and it isn’t silly to be proud of 13.1 if that is the best I am physically capable of.

Reply

All I know is the minute I finish my first 1/2 I’m slapping a sticker on my van for sure!! 3 posts in one day means more pictures of Brooke!! (plus I went back and read a few from the “you may also like” header :) If I lived close to you I would so babysit for free!!

Reply

I like the car stickers, and I don’t have any problem with them. I used to have a 13.1 sticker that was specific to the Blue Ridge Half Marathon on my back glass, but lost it when the glass had to be replaced this past fall (thanks a lot, stupid tree….). Have you heard about the “distinguished” 26.2 stickers? I read somewhere about someone making sub-4 26.2, sub-3 26.2 stickers, etc. since plain 26.2 stickers seem so common now. I also saw one that said 27.4 and underneath it said “I got lost” haha.

Reply

Saw someone with a 0.0 sticker and it made me lol.

Reply

My hubby doesn’t like stickers on our cars, so we compromised and I put a 26.2 window cling on the inside of the back window… Only problem is that the windows are tinted so no one can see it – but I know it’s there!!

Reply

I have ONE sticker. I do not get behind the idea of a sticker for every race.

Grocery store was about 10 days ago. Hoping to go two weeks in between trips.

The Kidless Kronicles

Reply

I ran my first Half Marathon last May and it took me about 2 seconds to buy the sticker to prove it! I rock it on my water bottle though, you know, so more people can see. Haha just kidding…kind of!

I got my first cell phone when I was in 6th grade! Totally too young, but I had strict rules and monitoring on it. Nobody but Mom, Dad or Granny could be called haha. They didn’t let me give out my number till I was 16. Personally, I’m gonna be the annoying mom that makes my kid have the Disney phone until they’re 16…just so they’re too embarrassed to take it out!

Reply

I always smile when I see the stickers, but I opted not to get one when I did my half marathon. I definitely would if I did a full marathon I think. I also started borrowing my mom’s cell when I could drive and got my own when I was 17. Hard to imagine back then (in the good ole days of 2002) that not everyone had a cell phone. Our older kids got theirs when they were 12 which was against my better judgement but has been ok. We went grocery shopping Saturday and I got the most delicious strawberries which is unusual around here in the winter. I wish I still had some right now :)

Reply

Yeahh not gonna like one of the main reasons why I actually went through with signing up for a half marathon was for a sticker haha :) If for some reason I don’t finish I might be more disappointed about not being able to use the sticker than not being able to finish! Also Brooke is probably the cutest ever!

Reply

I, like you, was excited about displaying my first marathon on my minivan: 26.2 proudly!!! Until someone (I think it was my brother) peeled off the first 2. My 6.2 sticker didn’t make me feel quite as cool, so I took it off and have been scarred since then, not putting any more up. Sad.

After seeing the Hanson’s Marathon method book on your blog, I have been following it for the Ogden marathon…so far so good but I am scared about only doing a 16 miler as my longest run. That seems like such a jump to 26. Have you heard of anyone that has tried it and been just fine for the marathon?? Not gonna lie, not having to do five 20 milers does make me happy!

Reply

I was 16 when I got my first cell phone. It was just for safety purposes. They weren’t super cool then, so I actually would leave mine at home all of the time, which drove my mom CRAZY! One time, my car broke down on the interstate. I was with 4 friends, and none of us had our cell phones! I thought my mom was going to kill me!

Reply

I’m cool with stickers, in moderation. If I have to wonder whether you can see out the back window, though, then I start to worry. However, I inherited my Dad’s aversion to sticking such things on MY OWN car. And since I don’t have a car now, that all works out nicely.

We had a cell phone for the car when I was 17 (and started driving). I think that old relic was given to me when I went to college…18? I kept it, turned off, in my sock drawer. My, how far we’ve come…

Reply

I totally plan to get one of those car stickers when I finish my half marathon. I’ve been working my butt off to run those 13.1 miles & you better believe that everyone is going to hear about it – whether I tell them or my car does.

Reply

Your spin classes sound great! I love the running stickers…you better believe that if I had enough stamina to run a marathon I would be displaying that

Reply

Hey Janae! I go to the same gym you work at! (I’m not a creepy stalker I just recognize the pictures you took at the gym haha) What time are you teaching spin? I checked the online schedule and I didn’t see your name! I would totally love to come to one of your classes since all of the spin classes at that gym are quite interesting..I would be excited to take yours!

Reply

I just emailed you about the gym!

Reply

You should definitely be your usual crazy self in spin!! I took a class last week and the instructor was so boring that I almost fell asleep on the handlebars. Pump it up girlfriend!!

Reply

I was so excited to put up my 13.1 sticker and I love spotting 13.1 or 26.2 stickers on cars when driving. I can’t wait to put up my 26.2 sticker.

Once, I almost chased a car because they had a runDisney sticker and I wanted to know what race they ran. haha

Reply

I love crazy spin instructors! The enthusiasm an instructor has for the class really makes the class! It makes me want to go ;) On my jeep commander I had an I love running sticker! I miss that car and my sticker…I do love seeing other runners with the stickers on their cars though! I can’t wait to be able to put the 13.1 sticker on my car!!!!

Reply

I really, really want a 26.2 sticker…it is my main motivation for running a marathon too! lol, thats hilarious. I ran a half marathon, but would a 13.1 sticker be lame? I will probably just wait and do the 26.2 sticker once I have done my first marathon so I seem more hardcore haha.
PS. I couldn’t see any gatorade on your face, you’re all good.

Reply

I love the stickers about running – love it!

I’d love to have you as a spin teacher!! I went to a couple classes with a gf and it was BRUTAL. goooodness, that’s some hard work!

Reply

That picture of Brooke in the cart is SO CUTE!

Reply

Hahaha! So funny that you mentioned the 26.2 sticker! That was one of the first things I did too!

Reply

I haven’t put a sticker on my car, mainly because I haven’t got my hands on one! I thought they would have them at the half and whole marathons I ran, but for some reason they were nowhere to be found. I would totally be that person, though – I love seeing them on others’ cars, it’s an insta-connection!

Reply

Love love love the car stickers/magnets. It was really the only thing I wanted to buy after my first half! I am excited to get a 26.2 next! Went grocery shopping today actually and splurged (because I am in college and thus poor…) on Emerald Breakfast to-go Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana trail mix. I barely made it to the car before opening one of those. So good. I got my first cell phone when I turned 13 – one of my favorite b-day presents ever!

Reply

I ran a half marathon last year, and put my sticker on as soon as I got home! I think the are great, and when I see others have them, I know they are a runner! :)

I was 14 when I first got a cell phone, and only because my brother was older and needed one for after school activities and a family plan was a better price :)

Reply

Brooke is getting so big!! Adorable.

I love car running stickers. I always smile and that we get each other.

I was 26 when I got my first cell phone. I’m old.

Reply

I don’t have a sticker but will probably do the exact same thing as you and put the 13.1 sticker on my car the instant I finish my first half. I like seeing the stickers on cars and feeling like the person in traffic next to me is just like me haha but maybe that makes me nutso?

Reply

I have a little car sticker that says ‘runner girl’ on it, with a cartoon of a girl running. It makes me really happy…and feel a bit younger as well :)

Reply

I love the marathon stickers on cars! I IMMEDIATELY put one on my car after I was done and for the first few weeks after I ran it, every time I was driving with my boyfriend into our apartment complex and we saw my car, I would call his attention to it saying, “Huh. Looks like someone ran a marathon. I wonder whose car that is?” ;) (Okay, so I still do that on a semi-regular basis.)

Apparently my students aren’t on the up and up about what 26.2 means, because one of them asked me why I had a radio station sticker on my car. :)

Reply

hahah Someone asked me that same question! “What radio station is that? My radio doesn’t go that low!”

Reply

PS: I did the ladder workout you posted last night today and it was crazy hard/crazy awesome!!!

Reply

I got my first cell phone at 16 when I started driving my parents wanted to keep track of me!

Yum, vanilla almond Special K is my favorite!

I got a cell phone my senior year in HS, I literally only used it to call home from the movies/mall because no one else I knew had a cell phone haha!

Reply

I like seeing stickers on cars, although I don’t want any on mine. I love Brooke’s face – she’s definitely up to something.

Reply

Brooke looks super cute with her little pigtails. I don’t have a running sticker on my car. I might consider a static cling but I don’t do actual stickers.

Reply

I know some people think they are lame (especially non-runners) but I personally love the 26.2 stickers! I put one on my car after my first Boston marathon and just recently had to replace it!

Funny story about those… when I first met a friend of mine a year ago (not a runner) she thought that the sticker represented some radio station that I loved. She asked me “what is this 26.2 station that you listen to? My radio doesn’t get that station.” lol

Reply

I’m super proud of my 26.2 sticker! I think that marathons, adventure races, and tris are huge accomplishments that should be displayed. Funny story…I teach high school and have had so many students ask me what Bible verse is on my car!! I asked “what”!?! then realized they thought 26.2 was a verse. Haha!! At least they learned something new that day!

Reply

yup. i’m a fan of the stickers. my husband wouldn’t let me put the 13.1 on when i did my first 1/2. but now that i’ve done a whole, there’s this respect that he has and he says i can:)

first cell phone was for my 18th b-day!

i picked up some bulk trail mix last night that is already gone:( a weakness!

Reply

First of all…… I love Brooke’s bang sweep!
I’m all about the stickers. Be proud. I had a priest ask me,” What scripture verse is 13.1? I’ve been seeing those stickers everywhere I go! ” even more funny that HE was asking ME that!!!!
Not sure how old I was when I got my first cell phone. Maybe when I was 24? (14 years ago)

I think they’re cool! You should be proud of yourself!! I bought a 13.1 magnet from the Disney Princess Half Marathon but I put it on my fridge instead of on my car because it’s so awesome and I don’t want it to get stolen. I tried so hard to find this 13.1 sticker with a tiara on it that I had seen while I was driving my car one day… but I couldn’t find it at the expo or anywhere around Disney! I was super bummed.

I got my first cellphone in the 8th grade (13) but it was only to be used for emergencies/to call my mom and dad after sports practice or after school activities.

When anyone comes in our house we have to tell them to put away all their “technology” or my toddler goes crazy and only wants to play with computers, iPhones, and iPads. Then when we take it away she is so cranky! It’s crazy! We have to reserve the phones for difficult diaper changes.

After I ran my first half I immediately put the 13.1 sticker on my car. I have a new car now and am thinking of adorning it with “another mother runner” sticker :)

Reply

I’m usually kind of a shy lurker on your blog, but I had to comment on the sticker! When I put mine on, I really wanted it. I love it LOTS. But I was so discouraged because there are some mean people online who don’t like the stickers…in the end I decided it’s kind of a secret handshake to other runners, so I kept mine, and I have no regrets!
Here is my post on it from this summer: http://abk-hitthegroundrunning.blogspot.com/2012/07/sticker-shock.html

what do you think about the car stickers that display your love for running…… weird, cool, lame, awesome? Do you have one?
-I LOVE them. I have a 13.1 sticker on my car now. I have a 26.2 on my amazon wishlist so when I finish it, I will immediately buy it and put it on my car.

When was the last time you went grocery shopping? Did you get anything especially delicious?
-I go every Thursday. And we bought a party size of pretzel M&Ms. They were on sale for 6.50!!!

How old were you when you got your first cell phone?
-I was 17 or 18. My mom let me borrow hers, but as soon as I learned to text on it, I had to purchase my own.

I have the marathon sticker and my friend, who is totally fit (into crossfit) and not a runner at all has the marathon oval, black and white sticker, but 0.0 in it. I find that to be hilarious!

Reply

I just ran the Ragnar Del Sol 200 mile relay….they give you a Ragnar car sticker when you finish. I never was really into the mileage stickers but I put this one on my car right away for some reason…..maybe to just remember how crazy it was every time I see it! :)

Girl– you were pretty pre–Brooke, but now you are beautiful!! Every day!! E

I love the stickers. I like seeing other runners on the road, and recognizing them by their running stickers :) I have a 26.2 sticker, but I didn’t feel comfortable putting it on my car until after my second marathon. I guess I wanted to make sure I wasn’t a one hit wonder :)

Reply

I love the stickers! Hey, you worked hard for that 26.2, 13.1, etc.

I got my first phone when I turned 16 and started driving. It was a car phone (completely with a coiled cord) and I was only allowed to use it if there was an emergency because it was around $1 a minute!

Reply

Love that you posted that question about the 26.2 sticker!

When I was training for my half, all I could think about was finally being able to post that 13.1 sticker on my window and finally be a part of this awesome running club/society!

BUT now that I’ve done it, I almost feel like 13.1 isn’t enough, so I haven’t put it on my car yet. It’s crazy how no matter how much I run and run sometimes I always get that “it’s not enough” feeling. It’s part of the vicious cycle that makes me so in love with running though. But CONFESSION: At the half marathon expo I bought a 26.2 headband like yours to give me something to stare at and keep me motivated in training for my full!

I don’t think I had a cell phone until my sophomore year of college…I guess 2001. Wow, it seems like I was a little behind everyone else!

I loved putting stickers on my car when I was younger, but I just got a new car and won’t be putting anything on it.

I have a pink 13.1 sticker on the left side window and will be getting a 26.2 for the right side when I finish my first full after the baby is born. We work hard to finish these things and who cares if you want to show it off personally I do and love it!

I’m running my first marathon in a couple weeks and I almost bought a sticker at the running store when I got new shoes the other day… but figured I should actually run the thing first ;) I think they’re cool!

Reply

I guess a 26.2 sticker is better than a 26.2 tattoo, but I don’t love either!

Reply

I love seeing the stickers on cars; I wanted to put one on my car after my first full last summer, but I still haven’t. I guess I just assumed you’d get one in your race packet, then I was too lazy to buy one and now it seems weird to buy one/ put it on because I’m pregnant right now and definitely not running 26.2 LOL! I will definitely get myself one after my next/second marathon though.

I have a 26.2 and a 13.1.. Love them!

You have to try spinning classes Uforia Studios in palo Alto – take a Revolutions class with Jackie or Alissia, they are nuts and sooo fun! I’m addicted to their classes! I love it so much, I started working the front desk there so I could take their classes some more. :)

I think stickers are great, I have a 13.1 and I want to complete a full so I can display a 26.2 as well. I saw a very nice metal car magnet I think I will get.

Reply

I really want to run a marathon so I can put a 42.2 sticker on my car (Australia makes it sound so much more impressive!) Tempted to get a 21.1 now though….

Reply

Good luck for your spin class teaching!

I think the stickers are great!

I went to a market on Friday and bought strawberries for the first time this year. I loooove strawberry season!

I’m totally with you about slapping that 26.2 on the car after running my first marathon. I mean, we just ran 26.2 miles. We can brag on our bumper sticker if we damn well please. I don’t know about you, but I always feel a camaraderie with the other cars with 26.2/13.1 stickers. Us runners have to stick together, in the race and when commuting to work. ;)

Reply

I was soooo excited to put my 26.2 sticker on my car!! I need a new one because I now drive a different car.

I hate to break it to you, but Brooke will be begging for her own gadgets as soon as she can talk. :)

Reply

I have the same 26.2 sticker! :) :) xo

I live in upstate NY and when you show up to a race it’s weird to see a car with no running stickers on it in the parking lot, it’s like our street cred :)

Reply

I got my first cell phone when I got my license. My parents said I needed it in case of emergency.

Mike gave me a 26.2 magnet for my car the Christmas after my first marathon. My car is definitely rocking it.

Reply

I love them! I love seeing them on cars as well! I feel like it is a little community of people who did something amazing! I love the magnet kind the most! I went on Monday and got some awesome apples! lol. I got my own cell phone when I was 16.

Reply

I love the stickers! It’s motivational to me. I have a 13.1 sticker but have yet to put it on my car. I bought my husband a 0.0 one since he doesn’t run and he thinks the stickers are annoying.

Reply

i did the same thing after i finished my first half marathon! one day i hope to add that 26.2. i get jealous when i drive behind people with running stickers!!!

Reply

My car just has one sticker on it, in the back window, that says, “RUN.” However, I have a ski box that stays on year-round that is, literally, covered with stickers. I have the 26.2, a 13.1 and a ton more of skiing and running shops, gear, and events. It makes it hard to be inconspicuous while driving around this small town, though!

I bought my first 26.2 sticker before I ran my first marathon and was dying to put it on my car. As soon as I finished my marathon last Oct 2012, that was the first thing I did…put that darn sticker on my car! Im getting a new car soon and have already purchased another sticker to put on my new car :)

Reply

I take pride in my 13.1 & 26.2 so of course I slapped them on my car as soon as I could :)
They’re a good reminder everytime I see my car.

Reply

I ran my first half marathon in January and I did it for the sticker too! LOL! However, I’ve yet to put it on my car. I do look at it daily and pat myself on the back :)

I never buy anything good at the grocery store. I feel like when I buy it it’s going to be the greatest meal ever… super yummy, but then when it comes time to cook I’m always like ‘blah’. I need some new, easy recipes.

I love them! I have a running mom sticker and run like a girl sticker on my VW Bug. I have ordered my 5k, 10k stickers and when they come in they will be on my car. I can’t wait to run my first half marathon so I can put that sticker( which I already have) on my car this April :-)

Reply

Oh I’m so happy you posted this! My first half is in 3 weeks, and I really want one of those 13.1 stickers, but was afraid I would look – I don’t know – dorky? So happy everyone here loves their stickers because hell yeah I am putting one on!

Reply

I love that sticker….nice! I basically got yogurt, spinach and bananas for my green smoothies. I get a huge tub of spinach so I can make salads too or for dinner .

Reply

I have a TRI Magnet and a 70.3 magnet. I display them proudly even though my friends say I am a dork. One day my husband and I were driving down the highway and came up on another car with a 13.1 sticker….as we passed them I heard him say “My wife’s 70.3 sticker beats your 13.1” . Nice to know he is proud of me!

Reply

i used to have a 26.2 after my first marathon but then i got a new car! now i am very proud of the ironman symbol i put on there, even if a lot of people don’t know what it means.

Reply

I need a sticker! Where can I find one of those for the 1/2? Guess if I’m going the sticker on the car route.. guess I need to do a full marathon..

Reply

The absolute first thing I did when I finsihed my first half last year was stick my “I rocked 13.1” window sticker on my back window!! I am planning to add a 26.2 magnet to that by the end of the year. I also feel a sense of comraderie when I see the stickers, and in my running group we all park together and EVERYONE has them so I would feel weird without one! Haha.

I just went grocery shopping on Monday and I got fresh guacamole from the produce section… heaven! I got my first cell phone when I was 16 and shared 400 minutes with my mom and aunt… needless to say, I was put on my own plan shortly thereafter lol!

Reply

When I ran my first 1/2 in Dec. I bought that sticker and still haven’t slapped that baby on my car yet! My boyfriend said, “I’m gonna just buy a 26.2 and put it on mine so other runners feel like we have an instant connection!” Totally making fun of me–I’ll try to get it on there someday, but he totally ruined my sticker moment!

Reply

I love stickers! They show accomplishments and I love when you’re on your way to a race and you pace people on the highway with them. You KNOW they’re going the same place as you and you immediately wave. lol

Also, I think the way you teach spin shouldn’t change! I remember my first spin class, the instructor was booooring. I didn’t want to go back but I finally went to another instructor and she yelled/sung/etc. and that’s when I fell in love with it! I think you’ll bring a bright new spin on everything! ;-)

I am more of a magnet girl, but I am looking forward to my 13.1 to stick on my car. Yo Mama Runs had a great idea where you take old (or free) magnets you get, put the sticker over it, cut the magnet to the shape of the sticker, voila! New car magnet!
I have a 2 year old who can work an iPad and iPhone like he works at Apple! Good luck!

Reply

after my first half, I went straight to the running store and got my 13.1 sticker!!!! Heck yeah, it is a must!!! You know how hunters like to mount their big buck, elk or bear because they are a trophy, well a 26.2 and a 13.1 sticker is no different!!! I have a 13.1 license plate now!!!!!!

Reply

I would absolutely rock the car sticker– I’m actually surprised I don’t have a 13.1 yet.

I feel like I go grocery shopping every day. There is always something I run out of/need/think I need.

I was 13 when I got my first cell phone!!!

Reply

Love the stickers! If you earn them, flaunt them! I’m running my first half in September and am very eager to earn my first sticker!

Reply

This is so funny because I know I’m going to do the same thing (put my sticker on my car first thing) when I get 13.1 and 26.2!

Reply

I love the stickers!! I put my 13.1 sticker on my car as SOON as I got home from my first half!!! I haven’t ran a full yet but have plans in the future to do so and you better believe I will put that sticker on as soon as I finish also!!
I go to the grocery store almost everyday!! Can’t stay out it it!! The last delicious think I bought has to be the apple pie with crumb topping and it was sooooo good!!!
I was about 24 when I got my first cell phone (I’m old and that’s a few years after everyone and their mother had a cell phone) so my boyfriend at the time (now husband ) made me get one cause he could never get a hold of me. Before the cell phone I had a beeper!! Beepers were so funny!!!

There is a lot of negativity and snide comments made about people who have the 13.2, 26.2, or 178 stickers on their cars. I think you should be proud and deserve to rock the sticker after a race! The 178 is for the Odyssey race. Do you guys have one in your area? It’s a 178 miles relay race that goes continuously until it is finished. It is a big deal in these parts.

I went grocery shopping to Whole Foods last night to get some ingredients for this beautiful masterpiece:

http://bevcooks.com/2012/08/white-bean-kale-and-italian-sausage-soup/

It’s one of our favorite soups and we eat it at least once a month. Ironically while I was there I saw no fewer than 6 cars with 26.2 or 178 stickers. Hmmm…

Reply

Oh I’d DEFINITELY rock the sticker! It’s brag worthy!

Reply

First thing I did after my full was to put my 26.2 magnet on my wrangler. I purchased it a the expo when I was picking up my bib!!

Reply

I will most DEFINITELY be putting that 13.1 sticker on my car the second the race is over!!

I laughed so hard the other day coming back from Memphis, TN when I saw a vehicle ride beside us and the sticker said 0.0. Still makes me giggle.

Good luck teaching your spin class!

Reply

I have 13.1 and 26.2, not gonna lie, there have been a couple of times that I used those stickers as motivation to finish a race!

Reply

I proudly display my Boston 2011 26.2 & my Ultra marathoner stickers on the back of my ride.

People in RI bring Dunkin’ Doughnuts iced coffee to spinning!! They really drink it everywhere. And the instructors play songs like “Stairway to Heaven” and “Comfortably Numb”!! I swear I am not making it up! Love regional spinning culture..

And personally… I’m honestly uncomfortable with sticker. Of course I want one! But do non-running people see it as narcissistic? And can I still go through McDonalds’ Drive-Thru with it? Wow- I had no idea I thought so much about the sticker!

Reply

I’m so obnoxious with my stickers, but it’s a tradition for me! I have seven “26.2” and two “50 mile run” on mine. I only brag about my running on my car :) I was tempted to put yet another on after my last 50k, but decided against it. I also have this weird thing where I have to touch one of the stickers at the end of my run (I always end at my car — either in my driveway or at the parking lot of the trail). Right before I finish, I think of which sticker I want to touch, then I touch it, and the run is done! Weird, I know, but hey, whatever works. :) Your daughter is beautiful, by the way.

we have 3 magnets..

All I have to say is I am running my first half marathon in April and I will be putting a sticker on my car afterwards!

Also, I tried the omelet recipe before and I LOVE it. I will never go back to eating plain old omelets again. :)

Reply

When I signed up for my first marathon I bought the sticker and taped it to my bathroom mirror so I would see it everyday and it would remind me of how bad I wanted it. The minute I was home from finishing that first marathon, that baby was on the back of my car!! Love seeing them, although they are rare around my area, you certainly feel like you are part of an elite club!

Reply

That was the only thing I purchased at my first marathon expo – it’s now my little happy reminder of what I was (and am!) able to achieve! It’s also a nice motivator when I see it through my window on days I don’t want to get outside and run!

I have 4 and love them, that might by why I run =)
