A new Christmas tradition that you should all do from now on:

THANK YOU for all of your great cookie ideas on the last post… now I have too many to choose from, I guess I have to make a batch of cookies twice a day now.

The new tradition that I have incorporated into our family is called, ‘open up Christmas gifts 12 days before Christmas.’  I just couldn’t help myself.  My mom sent some presents for Brooke and I could tell that Brooke wanted to play with some new toys this morning so we opened them early.  It is easier to ask for forgiveness than permission.

Thanks mom, we love you and Brooke is really loving them already.  Billy is actually quite jealous of her new little iPod.

I am too embarrassed to tell you what time we got out of bed today so instead let’s just move onto the running portion.

Billy is extremely lucky that this is his view from his desk.  I am sure he couldn’t take his eyes away from the crazy, sweaty, smiling treadmill girl.  I did 7 easy miles and they felt really good

IMG 6791

I think I was frozen to the bone after my run so I sat with Brooke for a while on the couch with my favorite toy ever, the space heater, pointed right at my legs.  This is what Brooke looks like when she is milk drunk.  She loves falling asleep with her right hand playing with her hair.

My 7 year old self would be disgusted with who I have become today.  I wanted fish sticks on my salad.  I complained more about eating fish sticks when I was a little girl than anything else.  We also had more artichoke dip and sourdough crisps and an apple.

We are finally going to get out of our pjs to go to TARGET (second best thing after going on a run together.  Seriously.)

—————————————————————-

Have you wrapped any Christmas presents yet? Opened any?  Anyone procrastinate and wait until the last minute to go shopping?  Do you do any of your shopping online?

Did you like fish as a kid?  Any foods that your parents really wanted you to eat but you refused?

Anyone else run on a treadmill today?

Where did you eat lunch today?

I haven’t wrapped my gifts yet (or even started buying most of then. Whoopsies). But it’s on the agenda!

I think fish sticks are nasty…sorry :(

No run on TM today–and my lunch was eaten at the table. Gosh I am boooring!

But Brooke is an adorable milk drunk baby. Love it!

I’ve always loved fish! My favorite restaurant has always been Res Lobster! :)
Also, my husband would agree that going to Target is pretty high up on the list of awesome things to do! :) I hope you enjoy the rest of your day! :)

whoops… I meant RED Lobster! ;)

Now you have me craving Red Lobster! That is awesome that your husband loves Target so much, I am still trying to convince Billy!

sleeping babies are sooo peaceful!
You sound so wonderfully happy since being a mommy :)

No treadmill, or running, in a few days. grrr. Need to find my groove again!!

My run was outside (and not on a treadmill). Lunch was eaten at the table. Very exciting.

My husband and I ran on a local trail this morning. I saw a dozen or more deer… So awesome!! Then we went to a local coffee shop for lunch, grading (me), and dissertation writing (him).
Love the new tradition! Hope you will share pics of the cookies you make!

That is SO awesome! That makes me miss running in utah.. we always saw deer. Sounds like a perfect day together:) I will definitely post pictures of the cookies!

We dis Christmas with my family at Thanksgiving and I did almost all of that shopping online…but we still need to finish shopping for my husband’s family

I liked fishsticks but that was it for fish. My mom had this one casserole that she made a lot, but I always refused to eat.

No tm for me today…I’m going outside!

I actually ate lunch at the table today, but that’s only because we had company.

I love pictures of Brooke, they always make me happy.

I still have so much Christmas shopping to do! That’s on my agenda for Saturday. And baking cookies for a cookie swap! (I’ll have to look at the recommendations on your post yesterday for ideas)

I wasn’t a fan of fish sticks as a kid, but my sister would always order the Filet O Fish from McDonalds. Looking back, that probably wasn’t the best idea!

Running on the treadmill after work – tempo run or interval sprints. Which should one?

Since I’m on ‘non bed rest’ for the next month of preggoness, I did a 3k walk/wog around the university path this am. SO SAD I can’t run.

I liked fish sticks, with lots of lemon as a kid. Now I prefer more grown up fish meals like salmon or ahi tuna. Going to Red Lobster this weekend while we’er in the USA where it is cheaper!

I might have gotten opened/bought some Christmas presents on black friday! I know that’s still in November–but everything is soo much cheaper and how can I buy running clothes and not wear them til Christmas?!!! Waiting would make me so sad–imagine all that stuff staring at me “PLEASE RUN WITH MEE!!”

Reply

That is BRILLIANT!! I wouldn’t be able to resist either!

It’s funny that you said you were too embarrassed to say what time you got out of bed because I totally understand. I’m currently unemployed (waiting for an out of state teaching license to go through) and I am ashamed at how late I get out of bed now. I used to try to take a shower with just enough time that my hair would dry before my fiancé got home so that he didn’t know how lazy I had been, haha.

I was such a weird little girl. When I would go to the grocery store with my mom, she would ask me if I wanted a candy bar. I would say no and ask for some sort of fresh fish. Once I was grown, it took me a while to back to liking fish. But now, I love it!

I think you’re allowed to hang out in your pjs for as long as you all want after 3 weeks apart and Billy’s finals! And um… fish sticks? Those were definitely not my fave as a kid… I loved chicken tenders in honey mustard! Who are we kidding, I still love chicken tenders in honey mustard!

Oohh, I so want to do that Christmas tradition now! lol I haven’t physically wrapped any gifts but I did pick out a bunch the day after Thanksgiving. I hated having to send them all back with my parents!

Reply

“Easier to ask for forgiveness than permission”–words to live by. Love it. I’ve done a little bit of shopping online and in the stores this year. The wrapping process hasn’t begun quite yet because I still need to get a little of this and that still. Can’t believe Christmas is so soon! I get excited to give people gifts and always seem to forget that I get stuff too. Woo!

I randomly did do a treadmill run today!

Reply

I ate lunch in front of my laptop, as I do every day. Mindful eating…what’s that?

I ran a measly 5K on the TM today to test out my injured ankle. Nope – still injured :(

Reply

i had lunch today at the asian mall near my school. almost my whole class was there. we were celebrating being done this semester. yes yes yessssssssssss!!

Reply

Injured. No running until next week at the earliest.

And, I have never liked fish sticks….just the smell alone. I cannot do it!

Reply

We have all of our gifts purchased, wrapped, and under the tree already.. thank goodness for online shopping ;)

I hated fish sticks as a child.. They were my least favorite food (next to zucchini) and my brothers FAVORITE food so we had them all the time.

Reply

have not opened or wrapped any lol still need to buy some….
they always wanted to me to at least try it, and if i didn’t like it, i didn’t have to eat. so sadly i tried things.
i ran on the treadmill!!! 6 miles, didn’t have enough time for 8 :(
i sat on the floor of the hall at my college lol fun fun

I’m sure your mom won’t mind giving Brooke a little early christmas. I love that target and Costco are big outings for you… They’re an event in and of themselves :)

Reply

When Sam was about 5 months old, he got those exact toys! He especially loved the mozart music player when we were trying to first introduce rice cereal and sweet potatoes. It would keep his attention :)
She’s too cute!

Reply

No treadmilling today (btw, love the picture of you on the treadmill outside! Hilarious :D).
I just did Bikram yoga.
For lunch, I ate at my desk (also a salad, but with salmon).

Reply

I didn’t mind fish as a kid it just wasn’t a favorite. Today I ate lunch with 4 great girlfriends! We had spaghetti and it was wonderful on a cold day :-) I seriously can’t believe how much Brooke is changing. I looked at your first post with her… it’s crazy!

Reply

That definitely sounds like a tradition I would enjoy! I love the “milk-drunk” picture of Brooke – so stinkin’ cute. I used to love fish sticks as a kid, especially with tarter sauce. So salty and tasty!

Reply

Oh I’d forgotten the gorgeousness of milk-drunkness!! I miss those days.

I was going to run this morning but was sick last night (literally) so no running today. Ugh. At least I feel better now.

Not sure if this is this is the right place to post this, but I saw these bad totally thought of you and Brooke! Pink Zebra Cookies! :)

We have the same Baby Einsteins musical toy! We take it everywhere with us. Rory loves the music and the lights. I hope Brook loves it too! :)

I think fish sticks were always disgusting.

I think you are SO hilarious. Opening your gifts early, that look on the treadmill, the HUGE salad bowl. Reading your blog makes my day:-)

Reply

OMG that photo of you on the treadmill = PRICELESS. I went to Target with my hubby today, too! :) Best thing ever. Totes.

My kids have that music toy and it’s a favorite! I’ve had to replace the batteries twice now.

just love your blog, honey. Your humor and pictures are just a wonderful escape for me.

No running for me this week.. I’m up skiing in Vermont and loving it! Its a nice alternative to running and an awesome leg workout!

Jealous of Brooke’s milk drunk, she looks so happy haha

Reply

Eek I couldn’t stand fish as a little kid… but then again, I can’t stand it now either so I guess not much has changed :D Still, I’m waaaaaay more lenient with food than I used to be. When I was tiny, if it wasn’t sweet, chicken fingers, mashed potatoes, corn, or mac&cheese, chances are I wouldn’t want to eat it. And girrrrrrl, are you crazy about wrapping Christmas presents?! I haven’t even bought any yet :P

Reply

All the gifts are wrapped and under the tree… But none of them have my name on them so I hope a few more appear soon!

And it’s impressive that you bothered to get out of pjs just for Target. It was pajama day at work and I was so psyched about wearing them all day!

Reply

im 27 years old and have never had a fish stick in my whole life! ive also never tried tuna fish… weird. and my boyfriend and I eat every meal at our coffee table!!

Reply

I need to buy gifts! Let alone wrap them :o I’m so behind this year!! Target is one of my favorite places too!! But it can get expensive if I’m not careful.

I’m hosting my first ever holiday giveaway, come check it out- I bet you’re going to love tomorrow’s freebie!!

My Christmas shopping is officially done!!! Gifts are wrapped and under the tree. Now I just have to fill my hubby’s stocking on Christmas Eve:-) I never liked fish sticks…well when I be and a nanny that’s a staple in their house so I tried them, the gluten free ones by Ian’s…love them!!!!

I ate lunch on the couch.
I don’t open things early unless we are traveling. I do MOST of my shopping online and have it shipped.
Ran 6 miles outside and it felt great. Until later and now my calf is tight.

Yep, I still have some shopping to do…I’ve decided I HAVE to be all done with my shopping by the end of the weekend! Christmas is coming up so quickly!

Reply

Almost done shopping (gotta get a secret Santa gift), but haven’t wrapped anything yet. We did most of our shopping at brick and mortar stores, but my husband ordered a couple of things online. It’s weird how I hate shopping, but I love picking out gifts for people!

Sorry to be late with this suggestion, but it doesn’t really matter because I think this will be delicious any time. It is super easy and yummy – peppermint puppy chow. I found it on Pinterest. It’s 5 cups of corn chex, 10 ounces melting white chocolate, 1 cup crushed candy canes (that’s about 12), and 1 cup powdered sugar. The complete recipe is at Sallysbakingaddiction.com. YUM!

I ate lunch with all my volunteers at our winter potluck (I’m a volunteer coordinator). It was great!

I love fish now but growing up, I used to tell people I was allergic so they wouldn’t make me eat it hahah!

I did 11 miles this morning on the treadmill. I love my treadmill so much. My husband and I exchanged some of our gifts already. He got me an iPad and wanted me to have it early. I am loving it. I did some shopping on line and got all my christmas shopping done a few weeks ago.
I get super cold after a run, and I have a heater under my desk at work to help warm me up. Nothing feels better than all that glorious heat when I am freezing.

I am not a fan of fish sticks, though I will eat them. I prefer un breaded fish but I do love fish and pretty much any seafood. My parents wanted me to eat mushrooms as a kid and I hated them and picked them out of everything. I finally discovered that I liked them when I married my husband. He made me try something he made with mushrooms and I reluctantly tried it and decided that mushrooms cooked are good…raw, I still can’t touch them. Beets , radiccio and okra are the only veggies I do not like.

Milk drunk!

I have bought one Christmas present. Seriously – one. I guess I should get started. I do a lot of my shopping online so that I can shop in my pajamas in front of the fireplace.

I remember having fish sticks at friends’ houses growing up, but never at our house that I can recall. I liked pretty much everything (and still do). I did go through a phase where I hated raw tomatoes. We grew them (like mass produced) and I had to work in the packing warehouse and the smell of rotten tomatoes in the TN summer heat made me have a severe aversion to them for several years. Thankfully I’m over it!

What a fun pre-Christmas present day!

This is so funny that you wrote about fish sticks because seriously they are my most horrible memory of being a child! I was just talking to my mom about it the other day and how I thought she was torturing us when we were little by feeding us fish sticks and applesauce…dramatic I know, but I cannot stand them!!
