I was going to run this morning, I really was going to.  I had my running clothes on (when do I not?), the treadmill plugged in and then when I saw how comfortable Brooke looked I decided to join her with some hot chocolate and a SOYJOY bar on the couch.  How can you look at that face and not want to skip your run to cuddle her?  Two rest days in a row is going to make my Tuesday morning run feel amazing.

After I deep cleaned every inch (don’t think I am very productive because there aren’t very many inches in our place… 1 bedroom apartment until Brooke is at least 5 years old) and showered we headed out to meet one of my old roommates for lunch at TOGO’s.  Togo’s has special meaning to me, Billy took me there when I first flew into California and about 10 hours before I started having contractions.  I think the deliciousness of the roast beef sandwich I had there put me into labor.  So technically TOGO’s brought Brooke to me before her due date.

The bf and I met and got delicious avocado and turkey sandwiches (the best sandwich ingredients in my humble opinion).

There just so happened to be a beautiful froyo establishment next door and we had to test it out to see how it compared to other froyo places.

Peanut butter froyo with delicious toppings.

I might actually stop talking about candy corn after Thanksgiving but I can’t make any promises.  I finally tried the caramel apple candy corn and since I know that you come to this blog for my candy and cereal reviews I will offer my honest opinion.  I had them yesterday and they are good because they are made of sugar but if you are craving actual candy corn they will not fulfill your craving.  Nothing beats the original but these are pretty darn good too.  (PS I don’t know how Billy’s eyeballs don’t fall out from the amount of reading he has to do for school).

We are going to go meet Billy on campus and then do some fun errands.  Fun errands= nothing to do with the bank/post office/or waiting in line.

Hahahaha I know! I was definitely a hypocrite!

Reply

I hope you know I was totally joking. You run friggin 50 miles a week! You can tell me I need to get off my lazy butt and run any day ;)

Reply

Hahahaha yeah right! You get up at four every day to workout! You are not even close to lazy!

Seriously- those little cheeks and that chin- oh my word. Precious. (Brooke’s not Billy’s:))

I STILL haven’t tried candy corn!! Can you believe that?! The last candy I had was NIBS. Do you have nibs there??

I’ve never been to TOGOs…we actually don’t have that here! We are very deprived north of the border haha. For lunch I had a big bowl full of rice, cauliflower, lentils, kale, and sun dried tomatoes. It was heavenly.

Enjoy the rest of your day! :)

PS- I was talking about that last picture:)

PSS- I am fundamentally against any candy corn that is not the original. I was personally offended the first time I tasted a chocolate one.

I actually just had some of my son’s cotton candy. Haven’t had that in awhile!

I skipped my run last night. I was bone-weary and went to bed at 9:10 instead of heading out for speed work. I’m going to try again tonight. Since I sort of slept while my 3 yr old watched a whole LOT of Dora the Explorer this morning, I think I might make it. I’ve been telling myself that I’ll be that much fresher and faster :)

Reply

But since I am still bone-weary and still need to get the kids bathed and in bed and it’s already 8 pm, I’ll definitely be fresher and faster TOMORROW :P I can’t wait until my husband is back from his trip!

oh. my. god. I haven’t had froyo since Halloween night and that looks so good. you’re killing me! I need to get some soon…

I love how it looks like Brooke is going to study with Billy in that last picture.

The last candy I had were black licorice dots that my mom bought me for our flight home from Michigan yesterday. So delicious!

The last time I skipped a run was the week after my second marathon this year. I just didn’t feel like running for a few days, so I didn’t.

I have come up with many less-valid excuses to take an extra rest day. (Really early in the morning + really cold + really windy = I’m out.)

I don’t mind the chocolate flavored candy corns, but like you said, nothing beats the original.

Brooke is sooooo cute! How could you NOT want to skip a run just to cuddle with her? I really hope when I have a baby she’s just like Brooke haha she just makes me melt! I skipped a lot of runs the last two weeks, but I’m making up for it this week!!! I had some gummy bears that were left over from the movies last night- they were delish! :)

I ate the last mini Twix and mini bag of Skittles from our Halloween stash… my boyfriend was a little upset with me (I pick all of the good stuff out first). Finders keepers! ;)

I skipped almost a week of running (I just didn’t feel like running for some reason). I did other things like yoga and strength training instead. Now I’m back to the running thing! Gotta get in one more long run and then taper for a marathon in December!

Reply

Those sandwiches look so perfect it’s insane! I’m practically drooling (mostly over the Froyo part). Sounds like a winning day to me! And besides, you got your exercise in cleaning ;)

If you want to continue your candy corn addiction, I saw Christmas candy corn at Michael’s tonight! http://www.candy4u.com/chrisreincor.html

It looks like Brooke is reading over Billy’s shoulder in the candy picture! SMART girl! Last candy was a kit kat on Halloween!

that’s what i thought about booke too! she’s already trying to do law school work and she’s not even 6 months old!

Ha- that picture is so cute ! It totally looks like Brooke is studying with Billy!
I’ve unfortunately had to skip weeks worth of runs because of my knee. I’m cursing it, but trying to embrace the fact that I don’t have any races for months.

Reply

I skipped my run this weekend to try and let my bad toe heal. I was back out there this morning.
I had PB M&M’s in my snack mix. Or a mini-milky way on Sat.
Never been there. I ate leftovers at home today.

Does brooke ever cry, spit up, or not let you sleep?!?!

Brooke is precious!! I would have no trouble skipping a workout to cuddle with a sweet little baby!!

I have never even heard of TOGO’s….I am guessing they don’t have any stores in Texas but that sandwich looks darn good!!

Reply

I’m trying to think of the last time I skipped a run, and I honestly can’t remember. I can’t believe I’ve been so motivated! Feels good to realize this! And the last candy I had was some leftover Halloween Snickers that tasted funky from being in the same bag as fruity candy. Still quite tasty though.

Reply

Never heard of TOGO, but I am sure I would like it!

Last candy I had was a fun size Milky Way from my daughter’s Halloween stash. Shhh!

Still no running for me but I am finally down to just one day a week therapy. Yeahhh!

Looks like Brooke might be a lawyer too :) She’s staring intently at that book!!

Did I miss the winner of the Garmin? Glad you had another rest day!

Janae, that last picture!! <3

It totally looks like Brooke is reading over Billy’s shoulder! :)

Reply

The last candy I had was reindeer treats (candy corn, but just green, red, and white for Christmas!!), unless you count my ounce of pure semi-sweet chocolate I have before bed. I don’t count it as candy, I count it as a survival need! ;)
I can’t remember the last run I skipped … I need to be more rebellious apparently!!

Reply

I skip runs fairly regularly unless I have a race in the diary….thus the need to have races in the diary!! Don’t feel bad about it! Not that you sound like you do:)

Reply

I haven’t run in just about forever… She is so cute with those little checks that are filling out I love it. And skipping a run to steal some nap time cuddles is the best idea ever. Lunch today was a peanut butter + jelly sandwich with cup-o-noodles on the side at my desk. Don’t be jealous.

Reply

Last candy I had was a Take Five mini candy bar. Love leftover Halloween candy! :)

Brooke’s face in the last picture is totally like, “WHY are you reading that?!” :)

Reply

When was the last time you skipped your run? What was your reason?
I skipped my run last week due to being sick and today instead of running I power walked because I am feeling nausea:(
Last candy that you had?
last night, I had m&ms cherry cordial and they are amazing! chocolate+cherry=yummy!
Have you ever been to TOGO’s? Where did you eat lunch today?
never heard of TOGO’s. I made my lunch at home today:) Turkey flat out with a side of greek yogurt and cranberry juice.

love that last picture of brooke on the couch:) glad you skipped your run and cuddled instead since they grow up so fast and before you know it she will be 5!

Reply

I completely agree about the different flavored candy corn, good becuase they’re pure sugar, but just not great.

Reply

i’ve not tried the caramel candy corn?!?! they should bring out candy corn xmas variety, tho i’m sure they prolly have that somewhere!

i’ve been to togos and like them, buuut, can’t say i like them more than subway! lol

Reply

Haha I love how Brooke is also reading along with Billy!

Reply

I love how in the last pic with the candy corn Brooke looks so interested in what she is focusing on!! She makes me want another little baby! Dangerously adorable.

Reply

Omigosh your baby girl is precious. I definitely can’t blame you for skipping a run to hang out with her… I would too! The last time I skipped my workout waassssss…. two days ago because I was sitting with my mom talking about boys and the time just flew right by ;) As for the last candy I had, that would be this afternoon… gummy bears :D

Reply

I skip runs all the time based on how my body is feeling that day. As long as I get in 4 to 5 runs a week, I am fine! I go based off of how my body feels though. It took me a LONG time to get to that point! That froyo looks TDF (to die for ;))

Reply

Brooke sitting there chilling in the boppy next to your hubby..
cutest thing ever!

Now I’m feeling a little guilty for NOT skipping my run when Fiona started SCREAMING in the stroller. She calmed down (10 minutes later!), but …let’s just say, I think people thought I was stealing someone’s kid for a few minutes there!

Do you really LIKE SOYJOY? We got them in our bags at the Nashville Marathon 2007 and both Mr J and I couldn’t stomach even one of them. This was right when they were coming on the market– maybe they’ve improved?? Do tell!

Just last week I took a two day rest. My right leg was bothering me. The two day rest was just what I needed. : ). I ran the next day and it felt really great.

Reply

I skipped half my run yesterday because it was -22 (C) out and my hands / toes/ everything were freezing.

PB mnm’s were my last candy.. yum. I don’t think we have TOGO’s in Canada. .. sigh.

Reply

Training for my first half so I haven’t skipped a scheduled day in over a month, a very proud feeling!

I have a handful of m&m’s almost every day, absolutely delish.

Never heard of TOGO’s but whatever that glorious creation was that you were eating is definitely something that I’m interested in! LOL!

Reply

Hmmm, let’s see… last run skipped? Not sure I remember.

Oh yeah, that’s right! it was the Friggin New York City Marathon when it was canceled. Thanks for peeling back that scab.

Brooke is seriously photogenic!! Also, I jusy about licked my screen to eat that pb fro yo!!

Reply

Agrees that those are the perfect sandwich ingredients…even better with hummus thrown in the mix!

My school has grape-flavored candy corn which is GROSS. I didn’t know it was grape-flavored and picked up a bag because they were purple and everything purple is usually awesome, except this. People should just leave candy corn, it is heavenly how it is, don’t mess with a good thing. But I’m not going to lie, the chocolate flavor is kinda awesome.

I haven’t been to Togo’s since high school. I need to go next time I am visiting my mom. I had a British Aero bar the other night and it was amazing. I have the other half chilling in my freezer. I hope I forget about it, but I have a feeling that may be difficult.

Reply

Love it. Of course you had to skip your run. :) Never been to TOGO’s. For some reason I got confused and thought you were visiting family with my last comment. You are going to Utah soon though, yes? I’m out of it. Must rest now. :) Hugs!!!

Reply

Instead of skipping it, I run less when I m not in the moood or there is something else to do.
I must be the only person who doesn’t like candy :)

Reply

The last time I skipped a run was when I got my period. During the first days of my period I don’t like to run. It makes me feel like I’m ruining my pelvic floor muscles!

Reply

Yes, I love TOGO’s!! We used to eat there all the time when I lived in Cali when we were litte! It is sooooo good!

Reply

I wish we had a TOGOs! It looks good.
Last candy i had was chocolate chips melted in my popcorn last night…mmmm.
You have me wanting more candy corn now!

Hi Janae,

You made my day with this post. I had my first long run (well not really like 14 miles) Friday coming off an injury. I ran 8 on Saturday and took Sunday, Monday and EEK today off too. I had lots of family in town and then after they left I wanted to spend time with my fiance this morning. I feel really guilty but after an injury and when there are special times to cherish… I think we can take a day off. It will keep us mentally and physically healthy and ready for our next run! Seriously made my morning!
Hope your run was great today!

I have to agree on the candy corn. It’s only OK. Actually, I tried the Candy Apple, and it’s worse than the Caramel! Total and utter disappointment. Nothing like the original!
