A run, some running songs, and shoe socks.

Brooke gets quite a kick out of watching me attempt to do 30-Day Shred.  Since she is staring at me the entire 20 minutes it is incentive for me to not cheat nearly as much as I do when I do the workout when she is sleeping.  I even tried a few of the push-ups on my toes to impress her.  She wasn’t impressed.

It was a crazy beautiful day out and so the people watching me on my treadmill that don’t know I have a baby napping on the other side of the screen door are probably so confused why I am not enjoying the sunshine and running on my porch instead.  I did the Jillian DVD before my run because if I don’t do it first, it will never happen.  I got in 5 miles with no back pain at a 8:00 min/mile pace and it was so so good to be back again.

Since I am not currently teaching spin right now I rarely download music and just rely on Pandora to get me through my workouts.  Today Pandora worked it’s magic and helped me to find 5 new songs that I am loving to run to:

1. One More Night by Maroon 5 (okay, I have heard this song a lot before and loved it but just tried running to it today and it was awesome).

2.  Die Young by Ke$ha (yes, I am 26 years old and love working out to Ke$ha).

3.  Feel Again by OneRepublic (a little slower than most songs I like to run to but I just love everything by OneRepublic).

4.  I Will Wait by Mumford and Sons (has some slower parts but the fast parts are really energizing).

5.  I Cry by Flo Rida

Last but most importantly… where can I find adult socks that look like shoes?  I would be more than okay wearing just socks for the rest of my life (besides running shoes when I am running).

How was your run today?

Heard any new awesome running songs?

Random question of the day:  Do you sleep with socks on?

-YES!!! I have to even if it is really hot in our apartment.  I love socks.

Glad to hear your back felt okay during your run today! My run today was so slow and so tiresome. I ran 10 km but it felt like 30 and I don’t know why. It seems like I’m currently going through a running rut because none of my runs for the past 2 weeks have felt good :(.
I also downloaded Die Young today actually haha, as well as Finally Found You by Enrique Iglesias – great beat to run to! And yes, socks, always socks :D.

My run today will be postponed because I’m going out on the town for the first time in two years!! Here’s to living life outside your comfort zone! Nervous but SO excited at the same time.
Feel Again is WAY up there on my playlist right now!! Also slower than what I like, but SO much fun!! Also, Call Me Maybe is my guilty pleasure. ;)
I sleep with no socks, but my blanket needs to be curled under my feet.
Glad that you made it through pain free — have a great night!

Glad your back is feeling better! The weather is supposed to get really warm this week so enjoy! My run today was fantastic! Ran 11 with a friend and still need to go back out to run 7 more. Trying to get up my courage :/ (I’ve never run 18 before;)
Never wear socks to bed. Well maybe in the middle of winter and its super cold. Maybe if they were as cute as Brooke’s I would.

So happy your back didn’t hurt!

I had a great 6 mile run with a friend this morning. I’ve dropped 10 lbs which always makes running easier so this past week I’ve had a goofy grin on all my runs. Endorphins have been kicking in!

I’m not a sock girl. I can’t stand sleeping in socks!

Reply

Eeehehe! Those socks are awesome, but I definitely can’t sleep in socks. I wear them right when I get into bed if I’m cold, but then I take them off before I fall asleep. One More Night is probably one of my favorite songs to workout to right now, and don’t tell anyone, but I’m kind of liking As Long as You Love Me by Justin Bieber…

Woohoo!! Congrats on your first run back and without pain!!
I had a great 5 mile run and 40 min spin this morning with some upper body work.
No socks for me when I sleep, I get very warm when I sleep. My husband calls me his “little furnace” heh heh

Brooke looks so cute all propped up watching you train…she’s your little personal trainer:)

Reply

My husband calls me a furnace, also! I do get pretty warm in my cocoon of blankets at night.

90 minutes of running today. Long run by feel instead of length. It was awesome, and the best hour and a half of the past week!

Start with socks, but they are always off at some point. Did you know hot feet are supposed to give you crazier dreams?

I have three of your five songs on my playlist…..I make a new one every month and it is so fun to find new songs. My next ones to buy (I’m behind on my Nov. running playlist but got a free one called Grrrrlll Power from rockmyrun.com):
*Everybody Talks (Neon Trees)
*Tall cool one (Robert Plant)
*Fastest girl in town (Miranda Lambert)
*Voices in your head (Titanium)

Happy running!

Oops almost forgot! 3 mile run + 1 mile cooldown was great today, and I am ok with socks but really love padding about the house in Uggs slippers :)

I cannot even fathom sleeping with socks on. We’re opposites!! I feel weird with them on in bed even if my feet are freezing!!!

I did 12 glorious miles this morning. I really am liking my Saturday morning runs this Fall. I also somehow am running these runs faster than some of my mid week runs. Not a lot faster or anything just a little faster that I expected.

I cannot sleep with socks on. When I do go to bed with something on my feet I wake up and they aren’t there anymore. I somehow pull them off in my sleep and I find them balled up in the covers somewhere.

It was my coldest run of the season but I finished a slow 9.5 miles feeling GREAT!

Reply

Still no running for me, but 42 minutes of walking on the treadmill while the kiddos slept. It felt great and I was so tempted to run…good thing I hadn’t changed my bra and running would not have felt good ;)

I hate socks…I don’t wear them unless I have shoes on. My feet are always freezing in the winter because I refuse to put socks on. But when I was a kid, I always slept with socks on…I don’t remember when that changed.

Reply

I ran my second 1/2 marathon today and beat my old time by 16 minutes! And I loooove sleeping with socks on in the colder months.

Oh my goodness Brooke’s facial expressions make me laugh. She is just too cute! She’s growing up to be one cute baby!! Can’t wait till she starts running. Then you’ll get your workout in chasing after her ;)

Hey Girl,

Love your blog! I am in the market for a treadmill and I was wondering which one you have? And would you recommend it? Thanks so much!! P.S. Brooke is too cute :)

Reply

Hey Sara! Yay for getting a treadmill!!! I have the Nordic track c900 and I am so in love with it! I totally recommend it!

Reply

-so glad to hear you ran painlessly!!
-If I could wear socks everywhere and never again wear shoes, besides when working out, (and it be acceptable) I absolutely would.
-I used to not be able to sleep without socks on but now I can’t stand to wear them when I’m sleeping…I have no idea why or how that changed!

Reply

I cannot sleep with socks on, even when it’s really cold in our room! I leave them by the bed, and then I put them on first thing in the morning when I get up!

Reply

No run today. But I like Imagine Dragons or .fun for running songs.
I do sleep with socks.

I was sidelined from running for three weeks, but at 37 weeks pregnant got to go out for a 2.5 mile jaunt this morning. Glad your back is feeling better!!!

Reply

Great 7 mile run today! Don’t feel bad I like the K$esha song too and I love the Mumford and Son song. Brooke’s socks are beyond cuteness! Glad your run went great.

Reply

I HATE sleeping with socks. In fact, I usually have my whole body under the covers with just my bare feet sticking out the side!

Reply

Brooke looks so cute propped up with her pillow. :) I only wear socks to bed in the winter, and it is because my feet get super duper cold…and I feel badly for putting those ice blocks near my husband. LOL.

I LOVE Maroon 5. I often use Maroon 5 Radio on Pandora. I’m curious what station you were listening to that brought up that variety of music.

Those socks are too much! I’m impressed that you can do any push-ups on your toes… I have to work on my upper body, I know… I’m still doing “girls” push-ups on my knees. They’re better than not doing push-ups at all, but I would like to progress to what you’re doing!

No running today… tomorrow’s my first Half Marathon! I’m running in the Lady Speed Stick Women’s Half Marathon. My husband might be one of only a few men running, but he signed up to do it with me – his first, too! We are so excited.

Reply

I love that Ke$ha song! Actually, I love all of Ke$ha’s songs!! So great for running!

Reply

My run was great! Got to run with friends so that’s always the best! I hate sleeping in socks, definitely a no go. Ps Eberhard is sooo stoked she said yes!!!

Reply

I Will Wait is my favorite running song right now! I don’t even mind the slow parts because the fast parts are sooooo exciting. The only complaint I have is that it makes me want to burst out in song which is hard while running. I also run to Ke$ha and am also 26 years old. No shame. Lately I’ve been enjoying About Mr Brown by OAR too. Clearly I could talk about running music forever lol I usually go to bed with socks but wake up without them.

Reply

rocked 5 miles myself – well yesterday. socks during bedtime are #awesome. old navy sweater boots are #baller. I am fortunate to have recently rediscovered “now thats what I call the 80’s” complete with eye of the tiger, every rose has its thorn, oh sheila, jesse’s girl , heaven etc etc. Um, im old, but these make for a killer run!

Reply

Those socks are too cute! I actually can’t sleep with socks on. I always get overheated. Even if it is cold in my room, I have to sleep barefoot.

Reply

FYI I’m totally obsessed with that same Maroon 5 song and also the Mumford and Sons! I have it constantly remind myself not to sing out loud while on tready at gym or on local running path :)

Reply

I can NOT sleep with my socks on! If I’m cold, I will go to bed with socks on, but always pull them off before I fall asleep. I’m pretty sure the only thing more annoying than trying to sleep with socks on is…………….I can’t think of anything. :)
Yay for back to running!!

Reply

I LOVE RUNNING TO ONE LAST NIGHT BY MAROON 5 favorite!!!!!
Also so happy your back is better:))))

Reply

My run today was AWESOME! I did a Color Run (San Diego). It is a really fun thing to just do with your friends. I’m normally like you and obsessed with time and pace but it was really fun for a change to skip the Garmin and not care (it isn’t timed) and just have FUN!

I really need to find some good new running songs.

Yes I sleep with socks on too. I love socks and am always wearing them in my house, usually because my feet are so cold without them no matter what.

Reply

I know this might sound a little out there for most people, but when I’m working out or running, I LOVE to listen to Jpop! My favorite band is Arashi so if you’re feeling adventurous, check them out. They’re the most inspiring and upbeat music I can put on these days!

Reply

I ran ten miles today! Not as fast a pace as you, but it was beautiful in New Orleans today.

Reply

sleeping in socks? yuck! Glad your back is feeling better though.

Reply

Yay for a pain-free run :-)! I can only wear socks at night during the winter.

Reply

I gotta admit, I’m not a big fan of Kesha at all, but “Die Young” is great!

I only ever sleep with socks on if it’s freeeeezing at home! It’d get way too uncomfy for me!
Have a great Saturday night!

I love “socks to stay home in,” which can be found at Macy’s, or another similar brand at Bed, Bath, Beyond. They are super warm, ridiculously soft, and come in all sorts of pretty colors. I don’t sleep in them unless I fall asleep wearing them, and even then, they usually come off by the time I wake up.

I invested in a treadmill before I started running, and now can’t stand to run on it unless it’s absolutely necessary (blizzard conditions, 40 mph winds that I’m not strong enough to fight). I’m sure I’ll be using it more once we have a little one, so I feel good knowing I’ll get my $s worth then. :-)

Reply

I don’t listent o music while I run so I’m no help there. Spent the day raking and disposing of leaves yesterday – so much work! I like to sleep with socks on but my husband doesn’t like it when I do so I tend not to. Instead I wear really long pants that cover my feet :)

Reply

I only sleep with socks when I’m really cold, but I usually end up taking them off in the middle of the night! I’ve found many socks stuffed in the bottom of my bed…

Reply

YAY for being back to running! Brooke’s facial expressions are priceless! :)

Reply

Yay for your back feeling better!!!

If I am doing cross training and a run on the same day I have to do my cross training first too because otherwise I won’t do it. I see my run as a reward for doing my cross training :) can’t have dessert before dinner!

Reply

I hate socks, they feel so restricting

Reply

I looooooove baby shoe socks!! So cute!

Congrats on getting back on the treadmill!

Reply

My run today was good! I PRd on my 3 miles by 4 mins (but its still nothing compared to your pace!)

And no socks to bed! My feet get waay too hot!

Reply

I love all of those songs for running.

I’m pretty sure I would have to cheat doing 30 day shred. If her workouts are anything like the BL workouts she has, I’m pretty sure I would die.

Reply

YAY for your back not hurting while you ran!!! :) That’s awesome and I am sure you are pumped to be back! :)

Reply

Which Pandora station do you use?

Reply

I ALWAYS sleep with socks, even in summer!

Reply

I almost always wear socks. Sleeping, hanging around the house, and even while driving if my outfit has heels/flats/sandals for the day. I would wear my socks while I drive, then remove them and slip on either my heels/flats/sandals before I get out of the car. :)
