Another BIG first…

Another night of taking Brooke around to make new friends at her favorite restaurant in the world.

Every time I go here I tell myself to branch out and order something new but when I get to the front of the line and try to order nachos or a burrito the only thing that comes out of my mouth is ordering one pork salad with extra pico and extra extra extra guacamole.   Those tortillas are made with love.

IMG 6377

You have met these good friends of mine many times on the blog before.  We used to have Bachelor watching parties with them, I used to go running with her, sushi making parties and he is our friend with a 2:25 marathon… you read that right… 2:25.  Last night we made top secret plans for the marathon that he is going to pace me for to get me that sub 3.  Hint: This marathon will be done at sea level where I don’t feel like my lungs are under attack at all times.

This friend you have also met on the blog many times before and she is a yoga extraordinaire and the best elementary teacher around.

After filling ourselves with mounds of salad we decided to go and style Brooke’s hair in her first ever pigtails.  We all loved it but I think Brooke prefers her hair more free so that it can blow in the wind.

The view from the back just because it makes me really happy.

These bars of heaven came out during our late night hair-styling/talking about everything session.  Layer of peanut butter and graham cracker goodness topped with chocolate.  This may top the charts as the best bar dessert.

What did you have for dinner last night?

What are you most looking forward to this weekend?

Does anybody reading this not like peanut butter?

-I found out a very sad fact yesterday that my nephew doesn’t like peanut butter and it hurt my soul.

Any teachers reading? What grade do you teach?

Unless you’re allergic, I can’t imagine how anyone can NOT love peanut butter…just not possible ;)! I know butters like almond, coconut & pumpkin are the rave lately but PB will always be my #1!

hahahah those pigtails are so cute!!
Wow @ your friends’ 2:25 marathon btw. Pretty amazing!

I looove CRUNCHY peanut butter spread. Has to be crunchy!

I’m going home to stay with my parents for the weekend – can’t beat a little mom and dad time :)

Reply

I teach preschool too! (An integrated preschool class) It’s lots of fun! :)

HRG what grade did you teach? I started reading your blog this summer after you left.

Reply

That is so fun! I used to teach high school!

You know what SUCKS? When you love peanut butter but are allergic to nuts!!!!
GRRRRRR!!!! I used to be able to eat half a PB&j without (too) much of a problem. And then it was I could have just a single Reese’s and I’d be (mostly) OK. But now, I can’t have any. I can’t even be in the room when my husband puts it in his oatmeal!
I’ve been mourning the loss even more this time of year, because my grandma makes the best peanut butter fudge.

Reply

Wait, wait, wait, whooooooaaaaa. You husband puts PB IN HIS OATMEAL? That sounds amazing. Like, Ah-MAZ-ing. Mind. Blown. Tell me more. How much? When does he add it? Any other add-ins?

Ps. Hi Janae! I’ve never commented before and feel a little silly that its to someone else (about oatmeal), since I super puffy heart HRG and have followed you for so long. But I figure that you would totally understand being derailed by PB/oatmeal and this is why we are Internet BFFs.

Oh my gosh, those pigtails are the cutest thing ever!

Most looking forward to this weekend: run, nap, cookie exchange at MIL’s.

Reply

You should attempt your sub 3 at CIM! It’s a great course and net down hill. I’m running it this Sunday. Only problem with this year’s race is that there’s supposed to be a downpour and 28 mph headwinds : (

My dinner last night was a homemade quesadilla. It was amazing.

I love PB so much! It boggles my mind when people don’t like it.

Reply

What? Your last question, I just don’t comprehend. Who DOESN’T like peanut butter? :)

Reply

Ah, the pigtails! SO CUTE!

I love and miss Peanut Butter – 2 of my boys have PB allergies with one needing to carry an epi pen around with us all the time. :( So no PB cups, no puppy chow, no PB toast….it is all very sad.

We made Chicken quesadilla’s last night – yummy!

This wknd we are meeting up with a cousins family for a hotel/pool night – we always have so much fun!

I don’t understand people who don’t like peanut butter unless they are allergic. I love it so much (almost as much as I love Brooke’s pigtails)! :)

I teach 7th grade. Middle schoolers are awesome in their own weird, smelly, hormonal, crazy way.

I was physically and mentally exhausted last night, so we had Subway for dinner. I bought a footlong so I could have the leftovers for lunch today.

This weekend, I’m looking forward to 70 degree weather!

Reply

I don’t like peanut butter… but that’s mostly because I’m allergic to it :P Almond butter, on the other hand? Love of my life! This weekend I’ll be doing another thing I love – decorating for Christmas :D It’s kind of tradition to wait until December 1st to break out the Christmas decor, so I can’t wait until tomorrow.

Reply

I need a baby girl so i can style her hair like that – wayyyy too cute!

Reply

Ohhh my, I love the pigtails! So stinkin’ cute! And I never understand people that don’t like peanut butter… It’s probably my top favorite food ever.

Brooke’s hair — love it! Those peanut butter bars looks so good.

Last night I had shrimp ceviche. They recently opened a Cafe Rio down the street from me. I haven’t tried the salad yet because, like you, every time I’ve gone in I’ve intended to get something other than a chicken quesadilla. My love for their chicken quesadilla is large. I mean — it’s a quesadilla – no big deal but their tortillas with all that cheese …mmmmm yum.

Reply

I had dinner at the boyfriend’s house yesterday. He made tacos and I brought oatmeal cookies for dessert.

Reply

I don’t like peanut butter. And I really dislike peanuts. I get plenty of people that tell me I am crazy, don’t worry. I do, however, love almond butter! Big difference.

Reply

I love you and Brooke! She makes me sooo happy. Thank you for spending the evening with us! It was a blast!!!! I wanna hear what Billy thinks of the piggies…can’t wait for our TJs adventure. I’ll get looking at my schedule and figure out what days are best. I feel like I have something next week scheduled but can’t put my finger on it. Give Brooke kisses today from us!!!!!

Sea level? Does that mean you are coming to Houston? If so we have to make plans to meet up!

Reply

I’m excited for the weekend because it means that Christmas festivities are that much closer! Aka decorating cookies and spending time with family.

Yes, I am a teacher. I am currently a Title I teacher (Title I is funded by the state). I work with struggling readers in small groups. I am currently working with 2nd grade. In the past though, I have taught 3rd, ESL (grades K-5), and 5th grade.

Janae- what grades did you used to teach? Why did you leave teaching?

Hey Janae, I found your website through Skinny Runner (whose family has been friends with my in-laws for decades), and spent all of Thanksgiving break (I’m a teacher) reading through your posts about running while pregnant. I’m 24 weeks and have been blown away by how my body has changed, and how exercising/running has shifted as well! Having run similar race PR’s to you, it was a helpful point of reference. :) Anyway, just wanted to say thanks for writing a fun blog!

I don’t think I could live without peanut butter, I eat it at least once a day and it makes some of the world’s greatest desserts. The world would just not be the same without peanut butter.
Brooke looks so cute with those pigtails!

We went out for pizza last night for my {now!} 2 year old’s birthday. I can’t wait to celebrate his birthday tonight…and give him his first bike!

I love peanut butter. I happily eat it right out of the jar.

I LOVE Brooke’s hair!!! Maybe someday I’ll have a girl and get to do cute things like that.

Buckets-o-PB please!! :) I feel sorry for anyone with nut allergies :( Spence & I had a date night last night and ate sushi, flatbread “pizza” and avocado egg rolls–so stuffed but I still managed dessert! Pigtails for the WIN!

Too stinkin’ cute – I love her hair. Mostly though I am just jealous, my baby girl is almost 2 and has NO hair. Not one clip or rubber band has been used on this baby. Someday….

Brooke is so cute! I love the pigtails:) I have three boys so that is not something that I have ever been able to enjoy!

Last night I had leftover chili and a string cheese for supper. I also had vanilla yogurt with some almonds and a few chocolate chips.

This weekend I am looking forward to a visit from my best friend and her family. We are running a 5 mile race together tomorrow morning and then we will all check out the local Rotary Lights display. Over 2.5 million lights in a park along the Mississippi River. It is going to be a fun weekend!
