Yesterday’s Workout:  No running but enough walking to make my feet have permanent flip-flop lines.

I put off buying a stroller (we have one that works for when she is older) because I am stubborn and wanted to just hold her all of the time and save money.  I gave in and bought one yesterday and it turns out it is Brooke’s favorite thing ever.  I am pretty proud of myself because it came in 12 different pieces and I actually read the directions and put it together in the mall parking lot and I didn’t even break it.

Photo 1 1

Turns out the stroller makes a killer hanger holder too.

Photo 2 3

After all of that shopping and walking pushing a 9 lb baby I was starving and went to Subway for my black forest ham sandwich with a side of ranch.

Photo 3 1

I can’t help but put Brooke in the background of all of my pictures.

Dinner was boring leftovers but let’s talk about the heavenly street that we found last night.   It was Historic Downtown Campbell and there were THREE ice cream shops, a ginormous candy store and the best donut shop ever.  I have a feeling that the person that designed this street and I would be really good friends.

The candy store had every single candy bar that has ever been invented.  Billy chose the drink and I chose the candy bar and we split them.  The dang nutty and sweet combo is all I can think about.

I am very glad that he didn’t choose any of these soda flavors:

This is where it get’s really good….

IMG 4682

A bunch of people have told us to go to Psycho Donuts because they know of my donut obsession (Brooke must be 94% donut based on how many donuts I ate while I was pregnant).  While you decide on your donuts they give you bubble wrap to pop?

Billy had me choose both donuts and his only requirement was nothing with bananas… I have told you about his weird hatred for bananas right?  I played it safe and didn’t get the ones with capn crunch or oreo and got two chocolate donuts, one with caramel and coconut topping and one with vanilla icing and vanilla wafers.

 ————————————————————–

2 a.m. October 4th:  I was minding my own business feeding Brooke when all of the sudden a ginormous roach/critter/insect/thing almost as big as a mouse went running across the room.  I freaked out of course and grabbed a shoe that was next to me and threw it at whatever that thing is and got him… talk about good aim.  I forgot about it until now as I am sitting here writing this and heaven forbid I pick it up myself so I am just waiting until Billy gets it.

Photo 4 1

It may be hard to see the black dot of a roach but in real life it was huge.

Do little creepy crawlers freak you out a little, a lot or not at all?  Can you kill them but not pick them up after like me?

FAVORITE soda flavor?  PS do you call it soda, pop, cola, coke or something else?

-All-time favorite is root beer and I call it soda.

Who is running a race this weekend?  If no race, what is your run?

-WAHOO, I finally can answer my own question… YES!!!!

I despise bugs…yet I love the out doors and miss trail running tremendously…yet I HATE spiders and creepy crawly things. I never understood that oxymoron.

Glad you got one of those strollers and that you put it together! How cool is that.

The caramel and coconut donut looks like a samoa girl scout cookie. Is that what it tasted like?

All carbonated drinks are soda to me, unless I need to specify the kind I want, I just say soda. I can’t believe those three flavors!! Yuck! Well, maybe the s’more would taste okay.

My favorite is root beer as well. There was this place in Texas where I grew up and they made their root beer and dang that stuff was good.

Have a good weekend!

You explained that donut perfect! It tasted just like a Samoa cookie!! How did I not realize that until you said something?!? Thank you!

Reply

You are welcome. You were in donut heaven, I guess! Now I want a Samoa cookie…

I love chocolate cake donuts. I wonder what the turnover is on those weird flavored sodas… If people actually buy them, or if the same ones sit on the shelves for years!
I’m not running a race, but I’m doing a 4 hour krav maga workshop… Eek! I’m a little nervous. I hear they’re really intense. I kinda want a donut now.

Krav Maga is awesome!

Yahoo, I am so excited to hear how your race goes–the first one pp is such a feeling of accomplishment!

I call it pop. I don’t drink much anymore, but my favorite is probably diet dr pepper or coke zero.

Reply

Those donuts look amazing and now I want to eat about a dozen donuts instead of my nice healthy breakfast!
I hate bugs, but I really hate spiders. I cannot step on them if I am wearing open toed shoes (too much chance they might jump on my feet and crawl up my leg – obvi!) and I HATE picking them up and throwing them away after they are dead. Must be all those lets, it’s just not right…

Reply

Yuck! I hate nasty creepy crawlies. Getting up the courage to reach out and kill them is the hardest part. I’m convinced they are going to jump on my face when I’m reaching out to squash them.

Good luck in your race this weekend! This must be very exciting for you!

Reply

The weird doughnuts are the best! I tried a bacon-maple flavored one once…the perfect combo of salty sweet!

Reply

Ya gotta a Friday morning post that has the word DONUT in it…thanks needed that pick me up this morning:)

My fav donut is a crueler (i think that’s how you spell it). Not the most exciting looking of the donuts but so yummy. And love Fresca (not sure if you have it in the States). Its a lemony lime soft drink…so refreshing. I call them soft drinks…ya us Canadians are weird heh heh

I’m so impressed that you put that stroller together yourself…mind me asking what kind it is?

No race for me this weekend but hopefully a nice long run. What run you doing?

Reply

I do not mind bugs as long as they are not near me, but I cannot kill them!
Pop, and probably cherry flavored pop.

Reply

haha yes im like you – i can kill them but cant pick it up after – ew!

Wow, those donuts look delicious!

I call it coke (when I’m in Texas) or soda.

and I’m running my first MARATHON this weekend!!!!!!!!!!

Reply

I hate hate hate cockroaches — YUCK!!! I didn’t experience them until we moved to Florida and I was not happy. When your cats don’t even try to touch them, you know there’s something wrong!! That donut shop looks AMAZING.

Reply

That street seems like heaven! I’m not even a big donut fan but those look delish. I call it soda and I’m with you, root beer is my favorite. Although every once in a while a good orange soda hits the spot. I can’t wait to hear about your race tomorrow! You are such and inspiration, 2 months post baby half?! You’re gonna rock it :)

Reply

You are too cute and Brooke keeps getting more and more adorable!

Reply

You will be surprised in just a few years you will be able to clean up the bugs. Brooke will likely be so freaked with them just sitting there she will force you to pick them up and throw them away. I am still amazed at my ability to do it now.

Reply

I hate spiders so much…and no I can’t pick them up after I destroy them!! I’m excited about the comment above.

I don’t like soda etc at all…in the UK we call them fizzy drinks. I do like fizzy water like San Pellegrino or Topo Chico, so I always pick those. Unless its really hot when I want Diet Coke but I hate myself for it.

No race for me this weekend…but next weekend it’s the Healdsburg Half, yippeeee

Reply

I have tried bacon soda and it was sooooo GROSS! But that captain crunch donut sounds amazing!

Running a 5k at my alma matar Illinois State tomorrow for homecoming.

My favorite coke is Diet Dr. Pepper though I only let myself have it twice a week. Yes, I call it coke! I saw a really interesting show on the history channel that explained why what we call it is regional thing.

Reply

UGH. Bugs. Ewwwww! Haha.

I don’t like donuts really, they have to be super delicious & me-I have to be in the mood. And YES, I get Billy’s issues with bananas. Because I have the same ones! It makes anything taste like banana.

YAY for getting a stroller!

Reply

I LOVE salted nut rolls!!!! You should run a race in MN. Since Pearson’s is a MN company they are at the end of every race! It’s seriously one of the reasons I started running races. Okay… maybe the only reason, haha :)

Reply

I hate. hate. HATE. spiders. Just thinking of them makes me itch everywhere. The other day, while cooking dinner, I told Ross his this annoying fly kept landing on my leg so I kicked my leg real hard and a FRIGGIN SPIDER FLEW OFF MY LEG. THAT IS WHAT WAS ON MY LEG FOR THE LAST FIVE MINUTES. I seriously almost started dry heaving just thinking about it.

Those donuts look amazing. And now I am off to buy a nut roll. I haven’t had one of those in forever and it sounds really good.

I call it soda or pop. It is interchangeable. I don’t drink carbonation often. Only the pineapple coconut Ice drinks my mom always has at her house. Mmmm. They taste like pina coloda slurpees. My favorite.

Have fun at your race and good luck! You will do great and when you post your time I know you are going to blow my mind. I think I might go for.my first run (very slowly) this Saturday post marathon. My legs FINALLY feel normal again.

Reply

Little bugs don’t freak me out too much. But bigger bugs, no way!

I call it pop. Favorite depends on the day really.

No running for me yet. Dr. says no still. :-(

Reply

Creepy crawlies freak me out! Especially spiders. I only clean up the spider/bug crime scene if I have to do it. My poor hubby has come home quite a few times to me telling him there is a dead spider under a shoe in a basement for him to clean. A few times when I was nursing my kids there would be a spider or bug, I would yell for my husband, even if it was 2 or 3 a.m. Bless his heart, he puts up with my insane fear and still loves me. Kudos to you for being able to kill it on your own.

Reply

Running my first race ever with my bf! I’m really excited. It’s the Firefly 5k and it looks to be more of a fun type of run/race. It’s only 3.1 miles but it’s my first and I can’t wait! :D

Reply

Ahhhhh good luck on your first race ever! I am so excited for you and I want to hear all about it!

Reply

Thank you! It was awesome!!! We had a lot of fun and are already planning our next race. :D The energy of the crowd and just the excitement of this being our first race made it fly by. Then we got to a hill that nearly killed everyone ha. Still a great time!

Reply

Those donuts are on the crazy side…in an amazing way! How weird? cool? that they give you bubble wrap haha Good job on the stroller putting things together can be difficult.

Creepy crawlers freak me out big time. Even flys and ants. Some of the tiny ones I can kill but not much.

Reply

I call all soda Coke. And my favorite coke is Dr Pepper! :)

Reply

LOL not to laugh at your insect story but you remind me of myself- when I moved out of my apartment I found a giant centipede (so gross – huge with a million legs) and so I threw a candle at it to kill it all the way from across the room and got it on the first try! Like you, I was impressed with my aim skills. I left it of course!

Reply

Where I live, lizards are so common (theyre always on my terasse).
Good thing they run away as soon as they hear you walk towards them!

I kill and pick up bugs, and I also call it soda. Fav is half rootbeer with half diet pepsi!

Reply

The bubble wrap idea is brilliant! if I had to wait in line somewhere, and they gave me bubble wrap to entertain myself, I would be one happy camper!

I just ran 8 miles!!! No race this weekend, I have a wedding tomorrow, but running a 10k next weekend :)

Ps. Please keep putting Brooke in the background of your pictures!! She’s soooooo cute!! :)

I call it Soda and I used to be an avid diet coke drinker but I quit that habit a few months ago!

No race for my but I’ll have my last long run (only 7.5 miles) before my half next weekend!

Reply

Holy heck I want the caramel coconut donut!!! Janae I wish we lived closer to one another; can you believe my Fiance convinced me the other night that we didn’t need to go get froyo?? Unheard of. I sulked about it but eventually got over it with a big chunk of dark chocolate.

Roaches freak me out and I just throw a cat at one and it gets taken care of, but sometimes they’ll kill it but not eat it (ew, I know!) so I have to wait for the man to get home and take care of it.

Reply

Those donuts look AMAZING! My favorite soda is diet coke, but I’m trying to quit. It’s not always pretty ;)
I am running a 10 mile race on Sunday. It’s part of a racing series that ends in November with 2 half marathons. I have actually never ran 10 miles…or more than a 10k, so I’m scared!

Reply

LOVE Psycho Donuts! Did you know there is also one in downtown San Jose where our race is? Off San Carlos and Second Street. I might walk on down to pick some up after Rock N Roll.

I hate creepy crawly things. i can kill them if they are slower than me. though i scream for Eric to kill it if he’s around. can’t stand spiders. :shudder:

No racing this weekend, hopefully a half next weekend….and I can spot a lulu dressing room and hanger anywhere! I must know what you got;-)

I’m totally freaked out by crawly things, I don’t like soda and I did my long run today. 9.1 miles….with no knee pain thanks to Pro Compression socks! Loved it. I’m laughing at Brooke’s face in that first pic…so dang cute. You’re killin’ me Janae, you’re making me want a baby…and yet I have no uterus. :) Jessica

I can usually kill things just fine…but picking them up no thank you.

Around here, we call it pop–and my favorite is probably squirt or the cranberry sierra mist. Who would drink bacon flavored pop!? That’s just gross.

Those donuts look amazing…and I’m with Billy bananas=yucky

Reply

Creepy crawlies are horrible. I always freak out and think they might be poisonous even though I live in Minnesota and I don’t think there are any. This weekend is my last longish run before my FIRST half marathon next Saturday. I’m just a little excited.

Reply

That looks like a samoa doughnut and it’s got my name alll over its caramel sticky goodness!

P.S. I *heart* ginger ale- an oldie but a goodie :)

Reply

I laughed so hard when you said you put the stroller together in the mall parking lot! haha So great. Those donuts look so delish. I went on their website and it looks like such a fun place!

creepy crawlies TOTALLY FREAK ME OUT BIG TIME!

and um….just before reading your blog I finished my latest post – about donuts ;)

Reply

Bacon soda? I can’t even imagine what that would taste like, but is it wrong that I kind of want to find out? On second thought, maybe I’ll just stick to Ginger Ale. Oh, and we mostly call it pop up here in Canada, and I’m no good at picking up dead bugs either, though thankfully we don’t get many that big up here.

Reply

I’m running the inaugural half marathon in Frankenmuth, MI. It’s a little German town and you run over 13 bridges! It’s also my first post-break-up post-move post-unemployment race. I need a boost of endorphins!

Good luck on your race!! :) :) :)

I apologize in advance if this offends any roach lovers. I live in Phoenix in an older apartment and every so often a giant (think 747 airplane size) makes it across the threshold. My weapon of choice is windex or rug cleaner. I hate those things with a passion and fear they will walk across my face in my sleep. Plus with the power of the spray from the bottle I can keep a good 10 feet away. They’ll roll over and die and then once I’m sure they’re dead I scoop them up with the broom and dustpan (again keeping as much distance as possible). I sound like a psycho but this is the only bug I purposely kill.

I have a dog and I move her into another room before I spray kill the roaches and then run a fan after to help air out the chemical smell. I suppose I should just buy roach raid in a can but I think I have to get closer to them. Anyway, if you employ this method if its possible, keep the baby in the other room to prevent fume inhalation (there isn’t much — just being overly protective).

Now I really need to try Psycho Donuts!
Good luck on your first post Brooke half marathon!
I’d like to come cheer y’all on at RNR this weekend. Anyone going to be on the sidelines that would like to meet up with me? I come with a huge bag of Swedish Fish. Just sayin’

Yes bugs freak me out!! I saw a spider in my apt last week and my roomates refused to kill it….all 3 of them. So of course I knocked on my neighbors door who was rlly surprised when I asked her if she was scared of spiders…YAY i made a friend :)

Reply

Those donuts are AWESOME! Recently tried a donut with bacon on it…pretty cool. Also within the past week, I smacked a roach that is still sitting dead under my bedside table. On the to-do list this weekend

You should also check out downtown Willow Glen (Lincoln Ave). It is only a few miles east of downtown Campbell. Willow Glen has their farmer’s market on Saturdays and Campbell has theirs on Sundays. So much good food! Plus Willow Glen is extremely family oriented too.

Campbell has a good running store called The Running Revolution about a half mile from downtown. The staff and owners are super super friendly.

Wow, that is good aim! I wish I had the ability to kill huge insects from a distance like that. In fact, I had my own really scary bug experience just this afternoon at work. I sit next to a window and apparently some gigantic bug got in (looked like a stink bug) and it hung out there for the rest of the afternoon until I went home. I still have the creepy crawlies!

Reply

If the bug hasn’t moved in awhile, I’ll usually keep an eye on it and wait for someone to get home to kill it. OR if it’s moving, I freak out, get a shoe with a very flat bottom, and quickly push the shoe against the wall as hard as I can and hold it for awhile to make sure the creature is very dead. Sometimes I’ll clean it up, but usually I’ll wait for someone else to clean it up. Hey, if I can be baby about it, I’m gonna be.

Reply

Seriously good aim on the critter! I would have flipped out too, but then crunched it.

Those donuts look awesome. I just bought apple cider donuts at the store and now I have to eat one.

Reply

When I lived in Tennessee they had jumping spiders. They were HUGE! I did not like them at all. I don’t really drink any soda and I’m not racing this weekend. I feel left out because so many people I know are running the St. George Marathon! I wish I could just be there!

Reply

I also HATE bananas!!!! So much to the point that they terrify me and I can’t think about them without gagging!!

Reply

Yum that doughnut with the vanilla wafers on top looks delicious! I don’t think I’ve ever seen a triangle doughnut before haha.

I’m running the Twin Cities Marathon this weekend. My first full marathon! I’m excited, but it’s going to be a cold one!

Ahhhh good luck and I want to hear all about it!!! Enjoy every second!

Annndd now I want some elaborate donuts. I’m pretty much planning a trip to Portland, OR just to go to Voodoo donuts.

They’re not as big as roaches but our house is being infested with some wierd inch-long, flying bugs. I really hope the cold weather kills them off.

Reply

my favorite it sprite (lol or a shirley temple if that counts) and I call it soda!

Reply

Fave soda: Cherry Coke. But I drink Cherry Coke Zero instead. Growing up I loved orange and root beer from the Acme.

Race: I am doing a 5-mile trail run this weekend on a trail I’ve never been before. Sadly, it has been beautiful all week…nights in the 50s and days in the 70s/80s but on sunday it is all going downhill with rain and temps in the 40s/50s. booo.

Reply

I can kill most bugs and get rid of them. Except spiders.
Ginger Ale. And it is soda.
Racing a 5k tomorrow and then cheering on my sister in the half.
