I finally got them…

It’s-it are now resting peacefully in my freezer.  I have 14 (we already ate two) beautiful ice-cream sandwiches covered in chocolate hanging out in the freezer.  I also have 4 lbs of grapes for me to eat all day too.  I went 2 weeks without grapes, that is the longest I have gone since I was 12 and I can’t wait to have a bowl of cottage cheese and grapes this morning.

Photo 1

Those were my treats and this is what Billy chose for his treat at Costco.  When Billy lived in Ukraine for 2 years he got hooked on sparkling water and still craves it so he got a 24 pack last night.  Billy doesn’t have a lot of cravings so anytime he does have one I force him to get it so I don’t feel so bad for my 4 cravings a week that I go out and buy.

Photo 4

We also hit up TJ’s and I am finally getting used to bringing my own bags for groceries. No one does this in Utah but everyone does in N. Cali.  I keep forgetting them and end up putting everything in my diaper bag but running warehouse saved us last night.

Photo 5

I impressed Billy.  I whipped out my homemaker skills and actually made him dinner.  A super complicated dinner obviously.  I put chicken in the crock pot, cooked it, dumped bbq sauce all over it and put it in between two pieces of sourdough bread with coleslaw on top.  What would he do without me?

Brooke fell asleep just as we were finishing dinner so we had a romantic date on the couch watching a drama filled show about high school kids with our It’s-It.

This actually is my new favorite dessert.  It even beats donuts.

And now time for some Brooke facial expressions for the day.  I have no idea where she gets her love for making faces… she probably got it from Billy.

She is giving Billy the evil eye:.

Her double chin makes my day.

As if that wasn’t enough pictures of Brooke there is a new HRG Baby post HERE.

I have never seen that kind of ice cream sandwhich–looks soo good! We don’t have a Costco anywhere close to us:-(

I was about to write the same thing! The evil eye pic definitely looks like Curly! so presh :)

I was just looking at recipes yesterday for crockpot chicken. Thanks for the reminder!

I totally wrote the same thing about Brooke and Curly!!!

I thought the exact same thing too!

I love sparkling water, especially mixed with apple juice…helps with the occasional Diet Coke craving!

Reply

HAHA I really just laughed out loud at Brooke’s evil eye..I’m going to have to practice mine now..hers is just too good! I don’t really shop at Costco, but I went with my parents when I was a kid, and my favorite thing was trying as many free samples as possible. Do they still do that??

Reply

I love my crockpot! I already broke it out to make some buffalo chicken wraps last week. It just makes the house smell so good. Brooke’s facial expressions are hilarious. She’s going to have so much personality!

Reply

I literally LOL at Brooke’s new facial expressions. She is adorable! (tell the truth, are you tickling her???)

Reply

I adore Brooke’s evil eye- so cute!
I have to be honest…we have a Costco card but haven’t gone in over two years! I think we’ll have to change that soon!

Reply

Costco brand natural Peanut Butter. Love that stuff.

Reply

I think Brooke looks like your niece, Curly, in that first facial expression picture.

Those ice cream sandwiches look awesome. Also, Friday Night Lights is an amazing show. I wish it was still on!

Reply

I’ve never heard of those ice cream sandwiches and now I want one! (or 4…) I LOVE my crock pot. I use it multiple times a week. I love that I can just dump food in it and it magically creates a meal for us. :) I am so excited to make a ton of soup this fall & winter!

Reply

I was just talking with a friend last night about how i want to start using a crockpot more – i have seen SO many awesome recipes popping up, especially with fall foods. first step, actually getting a crockpot.

Reply

I love Costco. I had a membership when I lived in California. Now in Wisconsin we have two but they are about 40 minutes in either direction from us. Not exactly convenient.

I use my crockpot all the time during fall and winter. I have some Vegetable Barley soup in there right now.

Reply

Mmmm, ice cream sandwhiches!! And Brooke has the best evil eye! I wonder where she learnt that one from ;)
I’m surprised reusable bags aren’t big in Utah. Over here in Toronto we have to pay 5 cents for a plastic bag if we don’t have a reusable!

Reply

I was thinking she looked identical to Billy in the evil-eye pic, but the others are right on with the Curly resemblance!! Either way, she’s gorg. :D

Reply

Those pictures are too cute of Brooke! I love Costco, but we don’t have those It’s-its here, I’m jealous. One of my favorite things to get is Nutella. The jars are bigger than you can get at the grocery store. Although it still doesn’t last long in my house!

Love the crock pot but need I need to use it more because it makes dinner so easy after a day at work. I like your chicken idea.

Reply

I love its it’s and barely but theme because we’ll eat them so quickly! Target also has them at a decent price but I bet Costco is better. I’ll have to look next time. You look like such a natural with Brooke!

Reply

I am going to Costco today and am getting those IT things. They should pay you for all of the people who are now going to buy those.

I didn’t know Billy lived in the Ukraine! My brother is living there now (in Kiev) with his family. Also didn’t know sparkling water was such a big thing there.

Love Brook’s expessions, keep the pics coming. She will love you for it when she’s 16 :)

In that first picture Brook looks just like your niece, Curly! : ) So cute.

You are not weird, I don’t like it either.
Costco favs are carrots, fruit and muffins. Although those are a treat.
Drama’s are tough. I was like Greys Anatomy but not sure anymore.
And I love my crockpot.

I love love love Costco! My favourite thing to get there is OATS! They have a ginormous box with two huge Quaker bags inside. They last so long. Those pictures of Brooke are priceless. I love her so much.

Reply

That’s what my mom gets!! She gave me one of the huge bags to take to school. I actually have to dump some in a smaller container cause I can’t deal with that ginormous bag every morning hahaha.

Reply

I just wanted to tell you that I love love love your blog! I stumbled on it awhile ago and discovered that we’re almost the same person. I could live on sweatpants, chocolate and watching Friday Night Lights every day of my life! And Brooke is the cutest thing I’ve ever seen, congrats!!

Reply

i only like sparkling water if it is falvored!
and ITS ITS were my FAVORITE. i didnt know you could get them at costco! awesome!

Reply

I could spend not only hours, but entire days roaming Costco!! There is something for you in every single corner of that store!
I hate carbonated drinks — so sparkling water really isn’t my thing. Bring on the tap water!
Love the fresh corn for dinner (the sandwich and grapes look fab too!).
You’d best be hoping that Brooke gets all her evil eye out now and doesn’t save any for when she’s a teen. ;)

Reply

What don’t I love from Costco!? Love their almond butter, berries, spinach, raisin bread, trail mixes… haha.
I love using my crockpot in the fall and winter but the rest of the year I always forget about it.
I am not a huge fan of sparkling water either.

Reply

I’ve eyed those Its-It Ice Cream Sandwiches at Costco before… Now I might just have to convince my husband that we NEED them. :) And oh my goodness, I seriously just cannot get over little Brooke. She is SUCH a cute baby!!

Reply

haha, Brooke cracks me up.

We only use the Crock pot when it’s cool outside. It feels weird to use it in the summer.

Reply

YAYYY costco!! there are so many things I love to get there, where do I start? i love their tubs of spinach and their HONEYCRISP apples!! I really like their 7 layer dip and their rotisserie chicken and their PIZZA! kevin loves grabbing 10 bags of string cheese from there everytime we go too :)

favorite drama show is toooo hard! Vampire Diaries, Boardwalk Empire, Law and order SVU..the list goes on and on!

i got a crockpot for xmas last year and we’ve used it a few times but i’m looking forward to starting to use it again with the colder weather now!

sparkling water is my favorite..my in laws love to tease me about my intense love of pellegrino ;)

Reply

Gahhh Brooke is too cute!! She looks so much like Curly in the evil eye picture :) that totally made my day!!

Reply

I definitely like sparkling water! When I was away at school I`d always get some for the drive back home as a treat.

Reply

If you want to blow Brooke’s mind in a few years when she’s old enough to eat whole grapes, you put those bad bows in the freezer and call it dessert. It works on my kids every.single.time. Okay so sometimes they want ice cream, but still, they think it’s the best dessert!

Reply

It’s it’s are my absolute favorite!!!! I Love them so much I served them at my wedding :) I know you can only get vanilla at Costco but they actually have more delicious flavors- you should find them! :)

Reply

Favorites from Costco: #1 cake – love their cake, uncrustable sandwiches, sugar snap peas, sliced apples, salted chocolate covered carmels, pretzel chips….

No time for TV

Love the crockpot, use it at least once a week. Our favorite it to put in a roast and then shred it for tacos.

Sparkling water? no beuno

Reply

My boyfriend and I just got a Costco membership about 2 months ago now and we absolutely love it! Of course we buy the bulk essentials there like toilet paper but so far our favorite finds have been sweet potato chips, chipotle mini tacos, and the giant bag of salt and pepper pistachios.

Yes, I love the crock pot! It’s the best way to do almost no work and end up with a tasty meal. :)

Reply

I love the crockpot and I use it to make everything. Last week was apple sauce, apple butter, stuffed zucchini, and garden vegetable soup.(Can you tell we have a lot of produce from the garden to use up?)

Reply

OMG… I absolutely adore Brooke’s facial expressions. She is just the cutest! I also love sparkling water & prefer it over flat water. With a squeeze of lemon (or any fruit juice really) it is perfect :)

Reply

Congrats on your It’s It’s purchase – now you have to try the mint. Then you have to try the chocolate chip cookie sandwiches from Traders and you will be good to go.

Sadly I let my Costco membership go…; (

I am in love with Friday Night Lights and just finished season 2 last night. I might have a crush on Tim Riggins and love that everyone always uses both names for him.

That little side eye look is the best, so cute.

Reply

Those ice cream sandwiches look super yummy, but I don’t even know where the closest costco is. :(

My husband and I also have super romantic dates of watching shows on Netflix and eating ice cream {and telling our boys to go back to bed….}

Brooke is a cutie. Crazy to think in a few short weeks, I’ll have another newborn of my own!

Reply

YES!!!!!!!!!!! I didnt know they sold sparkling water in bulk. Its the only thing that got me off of Diet Coke.

I buy red grapes in bulk every week… best buy that way. At the grocery, they’re like $2.49 a lb… that size would be like $25.00… no thank you.

Brooke’s face… mercy… adorable!!! :)

Reply

That first picture reminds me of a picture of Curly you once posted!

On a classy scale of 1 – Sean Connery I am weighing in at like an …. Erin Brockovich…. So, I have never even tried sparkling water. If I do though I think I will stick out my pinky to class it up another notch. But sticking with the Erin B. level of class I use the crock pot semi often! It is great for when I know I am going to do a long run after work because Hubs can just go home and there is magically a meal waiting on him without me having to be there! Tah Dah!!
Those It’s-It things look amazing!
Brooke is fantastic!

Reply

Brooke does make the best faces!

I’ve never been to Costco…but I hear it’s wonderful. I need some of that and Trader Joe’s in my life!

My fave drama show is Pretty Little Liars and Vampire Diaries. I live and breathe these two shows!

I’ve used it three times this year…so not often enough.

I’m not into the sparkling water either.

Reply

I love sparkling water! I actually just bought myself some!! And my favorite drama show, hands down, is Grey’s Anatomy. Such a great one!!

Reply

Oh, gosh, I live for It’s Its! Absolutely love them. I had one before I ran the Disneyland 1/2 and set a new PR by six minutes.

The reason?

It’s Its.

True story. Super jealous!

Reply

LOVE the evil eye!!!

Reply

I use my crockpot at least once a week, sometimes more! I just love the way it makes the house smell and it makes me look like a real homemaker. Plus, a meal where I can throw two ingredients into the crockpot, take it out 6 hours later, and have everyone rave about it? Done deal.
P.S. Brooke’s evil eye is hilarious. If it wouldn’t make me look like a weirdo stalker, I would show it to everyone I know!

Reply

Aw – Brooke looks a little like Curly in the evil eye pic!

What is your favorite thing to get there?
I love to buy the tilapia! It is so amazing, you would love it!

What is your favorite drama show or movie?
I am hooked on Criminal Minds now. Every night I watch an episode or two:)

Do you use the crockpot very often?
We use the crockpot 1-2x/week. We love it. I especially love it to make soups.

Do you like sparkling water?
Not a fan.

Brooke is adorable even when she is giving you the evil eye!

Reply

Those little sweet faces just made my day :-) I don’t like sparkling water either! I used to make beef stew in the crockpot all the time, love coming home to a yummy smelling kitchen!

Reply

Oh my goddess the evil eye photo just made my morning. I spit out my Cheerios laughing.

I have used my crockpot once. Scared to use it. That and the pressure cooker.

Love Costco. Mom just bought me a case of coconut water from there yesterday.

LOVE sparkling water. Before living in Hungary for a couple summers, I didn’t like it. But it’s just so darn good, and really helps my stomach. I try to buy it or plain szeltzer water each week. The mineral one. . . is more of an acquired taste.

Reply

LOVE costco. My 2 year old always yells “YAY Costco!” whenever we go.
Guess I’m raising him right :)

I love that you are watching Friday Night Lights. We just finished it a few weeks ago and it was awesome. You like TV series, right? Have you seen Downton Abbey? I know, everyone is super obsessed with it but seriously, one of the best shows I have ever seen. You should check it out. My netflix show right now is Drop Dead Diva.

I use the crock pot almost daily. It’s easy and then I’m not rushing around with two kids clinging to my legs trying to get dinner made.

Sparkling water? I don’t even know if I’ve ever had any. Guess I need to make another trip to Costco :)

Reply

Yay for getting your It’s-Its!
I am with you, in that I don’t like sparkling water. At all. Not even a little bit. My mom is obsessed with it. I don’t get the appeal. Drinks with bubbles do not make me feel hydrated.

Reply

I love those little cans of flavored sparkling goodness. I buy the lemon and they are oh so delish. Just a sometimes treat for me though since they pack quite a bit of sugar and I have to be careful…kind of an addict! I love Costco and love it even more since I’ve had kids. They have such great snacks that are healthy and great for on the go and to keep on hand in the car. Also I think during the winter months they have the best produce. I am a huge Costco lover! I always say I could live anywhere as long as Costco wasn’t more than an hour away.

Reply

I’ve tried the blood orange sparkling water and it was actually pretty tasty (I don’t usually like carbonated drinks).
My favorite thing to get at Costco? I would have to say Greek yogurt or energy/protein bars.

Reply

Brooke’s facial expressions crack me up!

I’ve never been to Costco. :( After seeing all of the treats you get there, I feel like my life is not yet complete.

I go in phases with my crock pot–I’ve used it 3 times in the last two weeks, which is a lot for me. Thanks to Pinterest, I feel like I will be using it a lot this fall, though.

Reply

Oh my goodness!! Brooke is just too cute to handle. I am even more obsessed with your blog than before because of the addition of Brooke. :)

I also HATE sparkling water. Blech!!

Reply

Brooke’s expressions totally cracked me up!

Um, I am obsessed with Friday Night Lights right now!!! Why wasn’t there a Tim Riggins at my school???

Reply

I love Costco. Namely their big tub of blueberries, and giant box of Morning Star veggie sausages. If I’m bad I get their brownie bites, cinammon rolls or muffins. I pretty much just stay away from the bakery section!!

I’m not a fan of sparkling water. My favorite drama show would be Friday Night Lights which is no longer around, or Real Housewives…does that count?

Love the crock pot but don’t use it enough. You should get the cilantro lime chicken recipe off my Pinterest board (main dishes)….it was to die for.

Reply

So…..I looked up these it’s it ice cream sandwiches on line because i really feel I need them and found out they will ship anywhere in the us! Score! But…. It would cost 87 dollars… I’m pretty sure hubby would not be too happy if I spent that on ice cream. Luckily I’m super good about not giving up on a dream….look what I found!

http://www.justapinch.com/recipes/dessert/cookies/its-it-ice-cream-sandwich.html

It’s a link to make my very own it’s it ice cream sandwiches! I’m gonna try it until I win the lottery and can buy the real thing! Just wanted to share I case you want to try to make them too.

Reply

I love the crockpot! Best way to make dinner EVER.

Brooke is SO cute! I too am obsessed with sparkling water. I LOVE it. Got hooked on it when I lived in Europe too :)

Reply

My favorite things about Costco: the samples! Back when I was living in VA, they only did samples on Sunday, but here in N. Cali it seems like they are doing samples every.single.day. I love it. I love the giant containers of berries, too. Always cheap and they go fast for me!

I don’t like sparkling water either, so I’m crazy with you!

Reply

I dont have a cosco membership but the past week i’ve really been contemplating sucking up the $50 and getting one, i’m a big eater so I feel like it would be my version of heaven… not sure why i’ve held off for so long.
I LOVE my crockpot but I’m a bit of a weirdo and find I use it much more in the summer.. i’m one of those people that craves heavy comfort food 265 days of the year no matter the temperature

Reply

I love their lobster dip…. Although I never have bought it I just eat all the samples!!

Reply

Better than donuts?! That ice cream better be pretty darn good :)

Reply

My husband and I do not go to Costco unfortunately because I don’t feel like paying for the membership, but all of my friends are obsessed. They love the samples and the pizza! :)

My favorite show is Project Runway and we both love The Walking Dead…I know it’s a little weird, but we’re hooked!

I LOVE the crock pot! We use it a lot, but we mostly do pork or beef in it! That BBQ chicken sandwich looked AMAZING!

Reply

It’s Its! I had them in San Francisco for the first time last year- awesome!

Reply

Brooke’s hair is so adorable – I love it!

The ice cream sandwiches look delicious too.

Reply

Okay so I really think I am going to have to get a Costco membership, the bulk items you get are ridiculous! I am sure the prices are great too!

Reply

Between my crockpot and my sodastream (makes club soda with less recycling), I am not sure what I use more. During the fall and winter I make most meals in the crock pot. I tend to make enough for two days, so we do end up eating each meal twice, but we are ok with leftovers, so it works. It also cuts down on the amount of grocery shopping, eating out and cooking time.

We are a Sam’s club family (same idea as costco) and we love it! Bulk shopping is the American way! :-)

Reply

Love, love, love Costco. My favorite things are salmon patties, almond butter, cliff bars, apple slices…..and the list goes on. That picture of Brooke with the “evil eye” is hilarious! If those It’s-It bars are better than donuts, I definitely need to try them.

Reply

that evil eye face is the cutest thing ever!!!!!!!! everytime you put up pics of her i just want to reach out and pinch her little cheeks (that sounded creepy – but was not mean to be at all!)

Reply

hahaha Costco Appreciation Day, yesss! LOVE that place. It’s one of Zack and my fave places to go on a date ;) LOVE the samples. Last time we went, those it’s its were a sample, and you’d better believe I went back for seconds! I love that they don’t mind that you do that!! I used to be scared to, but then found out that secret, and now I gladly get seconds! Now that the weather will be changing, we will be using the crockpot a LOT! Super easy and delish meals with little to no effort? yes, please! I used to HATE sparkling water, but now I LOVE it. Weird. Love Brooke’s evil eye. She’s too cute!

Reply

I’m new to your blog but had to delurk in order to congratulate you on discovering the wonderful world of It’s-It’s. Aren’t they the best? I read your older post where you said you’d never had them, and I was sad for you.

Let’s see…I love Costco! My kids have been known to make a lunch out of Costco samples on a Saturday and my recent favorite discovery is Bare Fruit dried apple chips. Healthy and perfect for snacking.

I don’t watch a lot of TV so no drama shows (unless you count Toddlers & Tiaras…I know, I hate myself too), I love my crockpot, and I don’t like sparkling water. And your baby is so adorable with her funny faces, and my daughter’s middle name is Brooke, so I’m a bit partial to your choice of names. :)

Omg I loooooove Costco! Sadly I don’t go often because I dont have my own card or car… I have to bum off my cousin. Good thing she also loves Costco and doesn’t mind bringing me along.

I’m actually guzzling SOOOO much sparkling water at the moment – it’s my pregnancy craving! Normal water tastes wrong! Usually it’s still water all the way. Oh…and baby is still inside me :-) We made it to 35 weeks…..he’s coming out early still but the docs are wanting me to get to 36 weeks before delivery. I’ve been told to stop exercising….AWFUL…..but all worth it for my little man :-) x x x x

Oh Brooke! :)

We just joined CostCo (its 2 blks away) and I have to get used to spending a lot but not going as often! :) You and Billy look so very happy–ah! Just thrilled for you!

Reply

Well, I must admit, I have never been to Costo! Yikes!!!!! Those ice cream sandwiches look A-MA-ZING!!! :-)
I LOVE using the crockpot, and am so excited for cooler weather to come!! My favorite crockpot recipe is a potato soup!!
I only like sparking water if it is flavored with strawberry; other than that, not the biggest fan! One of things that I remember how to say from when I went to Ukraine, is how to order water with or without gas (carbonation). I of course ordered the kind without!!

Reply

Sorry for the typo, I meant Costco!!

Reply

Brooke is the cutest. I love when you post her facial expressions!

Reply

I have never heard of It-its. They look SO yummy though! I live in upstate NY and we don’t have a Costco… I have never been to one! And glad you restocked on the grapes – the best fruit!

Reply

Sooo… After reading this… I wanted a it’s it in the worst way. I googled and found out they are not anywhere near me, but I could order some for 87 dollars! I thought it was a bargain. But, hubby disagreed. But, I did find a recipe online and I’m totally going to make my own.

It sounds simple.
Bake and cool these cookies (which are our favorites in our house!) http://www.myrecipes.com/recipe/oatmeal-chocolate-chunk-cookies-10000001585214/

Then, put loads of your favorite ice cream between the two cookies. (I’m thinking Ben and Jerry’s cinnamon bun!)

Then use magic shell to cover the ice cream sandwich and freeze…. Or eat right away…which I will be doing!

Reply

You know you are just down the road from the It’s It factory, yes?! ;) You’ll pass it when you take 101 up to SF. I feel a photo op here……!

Reply

haha! the evil eye! that is too great. also i laughed at the floating baby pic for-ever. i am headed over to costco .. hope they have the it’s it ! our costco shopping is boring (i mean what we buy, not going!) but one of our favorite splurge things to buy is the jalapeno artichoke dip. mmm. also one day i will buy those giant red velvet cupcakes.

Reply

Costco for us is to far, We have BJs, right down the road. My favorite thing to get are these tropical fruit sorbets, made in the actual fruits. They take coconut, turn it into a sorbet and then put back in the coconut shell..same with the orange, lemon, mango lime and banana. They are the coolest looking things on ice for a tropical summer party (inside) or (keep them in the freezer until your going to serve them outside)

I have 2 favorite drama tv shows. NCIS and Bones.

I make almost all our dinners in the crockpot, stew, chicken, pork roast, chowders, soups, etc.

I like some sparkling waters..not many.

Reply

I went to Costco today and stocked up on some of my favorites including those same grapes, their gala apples, and all the essentials for my Greek salads! So delicious! Those are adorable pics of the little one!

Reply

I’m confused what’s Its It? Is is icecream or cookies or both?
I love my crockpot but I only know how to make a few things in it, like buffalo chicken chili and pulled pork.

Reply

It is both!!! I need to send you some! They are the best ice cream sandwiches ever!

Reply

I am SO upset that I missed this Costco appreciation day!!! It’s literally one of my favorite places and for some reason some people find that strange. It’s a near-weekly activity for me, and I don’t think I’ve ever stepped foot into that warehouse without leaving with 4 pounds of grapes. It’s slightly frightening how quickly I can go through that box. I’m also absolutely obsessed with their Kirkland brand fruit and nut medley trail mix. So good. I need somebody like you in my life to love it as much and go there with me every week. Even though I’m not really runner, I feel like our mutual love for this store could be strong enough to bond us for life :)
