Billy’s older sister came over yesterday to meet Brooke.  She is set on spoiling Brooke rotten and brought over the cutest clothes, including a skull shirt and a fluffy pink skirt.

We also had a lot of people from the neighborhood come over to see her.

Have you had bleu cheese crumbles lately?  If yes, good job.  Keep up the good work.  If you answered no then your homework today is to have some.  We had spaghetti, salad and after the salad with bleu cheese I ate the rest of the cheese straight out of the container.  That stuff is addicting.

DSC 3594

Billy deserted us for a little while for a date with his books.   I just can’t even begin to understand how he can read all of that, understand it and remember it.

IMG 4036

I am sure she doesn’t want me to tell you this because it will embarrass her a little but Brooke has a grumpy time every day.  Eating, cuddling, new diaper, a taste of donut… nothing helps. That time is from 6:00-6:45 every day but do not fret, I found the cure.  What she really wants at that time is to go on a little walk in the fresh air.   The second we walked outside she was back to her good ol’ jolly self and we had a great conversation.

IMG 4037

I would so much rather have a rice krispy treat than a fancy dessert.  We ate these ones while they were still pretty warm and that really is the best way to eat them.

DSC 3607

We all partied pretty hard and Charlie crashed on the coffee table.  Totally a normal place to sleep.

Ah Brooke looks SO much like Billy in that pic…it’s crazy how quickly babies change in looks…in another picture you posted earlier, she looked identical to you!

OMG the dog is comfortable on that table?

I am trying to eat more salads, but french fries taste better ;). I do not like blue cheese..I can’t get over the reason it is blue

I am sad the summer is coming to an end. The pool closes today. The summer went by so fast this year.

What a silly dog! I still am tryin to convince my husband that we need a pet. He’s not on board yet. I’ll push a little harder when we get a house and have a yard of some sort.

I am really excited for the fall. It is my favorite time of year. Warm snuggly sweaters and dinner made in the crock pot makes me quite happy. Plus I think running will be about a million times easier. The heat and humidity of the summer turned running into more of a chore than I’d like it to be.

Reply

I think Brooke is crabby at that time because she misses your runs, which is why she loves to go for walks outside! :D Thanks for sharing your family stories from the weekend! Happy Labor Day!

I had bleu cheese on a wrap just two days ago, and it was heavenly!! Summer to fall is always bittersweet to me!

Reply

Bahaha. Charlie crashed on the table! HAHA.

Blue cheese on salad is so tasty <—I totally agree! And i seriously love Brooke's hair!! SO freaking cute.

Reply

Brooke is so darlin!! :) And Charlie….bless his heart. :) Love that dog!
As for plans, just gonna chill out and enjoy the triple digit weather. Can you do that??? ;)

Reply

hahaha does the dog normally sleep on the table? I’ve never seen a dog do that, my dog sleeps in a dog crate, she is very protective over that thing.

Hopefully I will be going to Jamba Juice today :D and it’s my last day with the bf before he has to go back up to Chico :(

I love salads!! So refreshening!! I eat them everyday for lunch and dinner, mainly because my stomach doesn’t do well with wheat (no sandwiches for me ), Eh, I don’t like bleu cheese either, don’t hate me!! I’m lactose intolerant!!

Have a good Labor Day :)

No fancy Labor day plans here, I’m thinking about hitting up the local flea market that is going on, and maybe walking my puppy after it warms up a bit.(I could see my breath this morning!)
I LOVE fall! But only because I am a September baby :) At the same time I’m going to miss the warmth of summer.
My puppy dog sleeps wherever I sleep, curled up in the little spot behind my knees. She has a bit of separation anxiety so she’s basically connected at the hip :)
Hope you’re having a fabulous long weekend!

I’ll be studying all day like the Billster was :( but I am super excited for fall because that means my birthday and marathon season is back!! Some of the best races around where I live are in the fall! I eat at least one salad every day and was telling a friend last night that whenever I get pregnant the thing I am going to miss most is blue cheese, it is my favorite!!

Also, that rice krispy made me think of something I saw this morning on Twitter, a local cupcake shop has rice krispy cupcakes just today and they look amazing!!! You would probably love them. Happy labor day!

I feel like a broken record because I keep saying this in every comment, but my goodness, Brooke is just adorable! :)

Reply

I’m definitely excited for fall. I love everything about it. My dog sleeps everywhere in our bedroom, except for our bed. Every once in a while she’ll sleep on her dog bed at the end of our bed. I love salad and always keep some in the refrigerator. I usually eat it about 5 times a week. I don’t think I have ever tried bleu cheese.

Reply

my cat sleep on a coffee table, does that count? It’s pushed up by the window that is low enough he can look out at the world.

I’m not a blue cheese fan, Ranch dressing and Feta crumbles work for me, but not at the same time. I try to eat a salad every day. Tomatoes, cucumber, romaine and a bit of ranch, sometimes shredded carrots and red cabbage, napa cabbage too

The first picture looks like Billy has a ponytail!

I agree about the timing of Brooke’s grumps…she misses the running

Janae!!!
I haven’t commented in forever but I finally felt the need to today! I have been following your pregnancy via your blog (OK stalking) and you are an amazing woman. I cannot believe you were running so much while pregnant! I really hope I can do the same when my time comes!

Your little girl is absolutely beautiful and adorable! Congratulations to you and Billy both! I wish only the best for the three of you!

I also hope that your move hasn’t been too stressful, but it appears that you have a TON of family to support you which is great!

Like I said, I don’t comment all the time, but I wanted to say congratulations and I can’t wait to keep reading so see what happens with you guys! :)

I love salads and blue cheese! YUM! We spent the day at the zoo with my nieces and nephew yesterday and then dinner and a fire at my sister-in-laws place last night. I like summer and it was fun – but I am super excited for fall because it is my favorite season!

Reply

Love love love blue cheese. Actually love all cheese ;)
My babies all loved going outside too while they were fussy.
I have an itty bitty puppy (about 4 lbs) and she sleep on our bed. My husband wanted me to crate train her. Ha! We tried for about 4 minutes and she’s slept with us ever since.

Reply

my Labor Day plans include going to the Brigham City Temple open house! :)

My doggie {back home} sleeps in his crate with his fluffy blanket. he loves it.

Happy Labor Day!

Our dog.. sleeps on the bed. Even if one of us is away.. he HAS to be touching a human. SOmetimes, I wake up because he has SAT ON MY HEAD. Seriously?!

Reply

That picture of Charlie is priceless!! My dog has taken a liking to my pregnancy body pillow now. Every time I go to get into bed at night, she’s all nestled in it :)

Reply

It’s nice that you’re getting to know your neighbors already!

I’m not that enamored with regular rice crispy bars, but I’ve recently become OBSESSED with Trader Joe’s brown rice marshmallow treat bars. So good! And they even have a pretty decent ingredient list — that way you can totally justify them as not even being a dessert. ;)

Reply

Hey girl! Haven’t commented in a while but I’m still keeping up with you and am loving all things Brooke related:) Glad to see you are doing so well, you have a beautiful family. Can’t wait for you to get back on the pavement running:) xoxo

Reply

i am going for a run, then sitting on my butt and cooking a ton of pasta! best holiday ever.

Reply

I still cannot tell who Brooke looks like—she’s adorable, though! Today has been pretty intense exercise-wise. I taught 3 aerobic classes and then ran a 1/2 marathon—in 90+ degrees. I just gave myself a much needed pedicure and am finally eating some breakfast. I hope you have a great day with family! Oh, and Charlies sleeping spots crack me up! Our dogs sleep in “normal” spots! Ha!

Reply

I had no idea that Billy had a sister… You need to try trader joes salad mix with blew cheese, cranberries, spinach and candied walnuts. So addicting.

Reply

I have mixed feeling, part of me doesn’t want fall to come, I live in Vancouver BC and it rains here, A LOT! buuut in less than 2 weeks I am going back to school part time to become a certified and registered holistic nutritionist so i’m super excited about that… its a toss up, if i could have both warm weather and school that would be ideal… maybe I need to move :)

Reply

Years ago we had a dog who, when we washed the blankets from her basket, would just curl up on top of the (still wet) blankets inside the laundry basket!

Love your blog, by the way. I share your love-affair with all things sugar-based :-)

Reply

We have that little skull shirt! Love it!

Reply

Bleu cheese on salad is amazing…so is Gorgonzola. Glad you found the trick with Brooke! :) and I am soooo glad fall is almost here!

Reply

Love the outfit with the little ruffle skirt!! But I think it might be a tad too small for Billy … ;)

Reply

Reading posts with Brooke are seriously my favorite thing ever right now. She is so stinkin cute!!

Reply

I never comment even though I love reading your blog!! I had to stop lurking though to find it where that outfit for Brooke came from. An expectant friend would love that for her daughter!

Brooke is sooo cute, by the way! Congratulations!

Reply

Hey Laura! Thanks so much for commenting! It is from target! Hope you are having an amazing day!

Reply

haha That outfit looks really good on billy! Annnd omg that dog is HILARIOUS! I love how he is just straight up sleeping on the coffee table! Too funny! Well, my labor day plans are to soak up as much sun as possible, read my kindle, and go shopping with Zack :) Also, I just added “make Rice Krispy Treats” to that list after seeing yours.

Reply

For funny! OMG! Your dog looks just like my 2 boys – black and white border collies!!!! Which is one of the reasons why we want to move to UT (I’m the one possibly moving there in a month) – we have 3 dogs! I hope we can find a place that will take 3 dogs….

I eat salads every single day. Sometimes twice! I love them. Get it from my mom! Can’t wait for fall – I hope we can enjoy it in our new home – whereever that may be! My 3 pups sleep in our room – 2 on the floor (the border collies) and one sleeps on the bed between the husboy and me! And the two cats!

Reply

I went for.a run this morning & then hung out with my family and now we are my in-laws celebrating my sis in laws birthday. My mom blew up their deluxe water slide for the kids to play with one last time before Fall. Speaking of Fall, I loooove Fall. It is my favorite season. If only it weren’t followed by Winter. I loathe winter.

Whenever my babies were cranky, I took them for a walk outside and it ALWAYS calmed them down too. Heck. It helped calmed me down too ;)

So do you have to head back north today? I hope you get another family get together soon!

Reply

Yummmm rice krispy treat and bleu cheese. Not together.

After years of preferring fall, summer is definitely my favorite season. This fall however, I am running my first half so I can’t wait for it to get here!

Reply

Had such a good labor day weekend…two runs, a trip to the horse racing, seeing friends and a fantastic hike in the Redwoods with my boys. So happy.

You’re prob right about Brooke wanting to be outside. My friend’s baby used to need a walk outside at a certain time every day, she just got bored and needed a change of scene!

And blue cheese? Yes please.

Reply

Brooke is adorable and the dog on the coffee table cracks me up!

As far as I am xo corned its still summer here in the bay area.we don’t get fall like weather until middle to late October and this is if the Indiansummer let’s up.it was 93degrees in my neighborhood in the foothills, or least the what the local bank said :). Our dog sleeps in our bedroom on the floor on my side of the bed. Went to an sf giants game for the day a d the res of the da plans include watching teenage mutant ninja turtles movie 2.

Reply

Btw, that picture of the dog on the coffee table is hilarious :)

I’m so excited for fall.. i love the colors, cool weather, crock pot foods.. :)

I’m starting to eat a salad a day and I LOVE bleu cheese, don’t have it much though.

I had no idea Billy had a sister. Crazy! :)

I hope you had a great weekend!

Reply

Rice crispy treats….yummmmmmm!!!! You make me proud. AND get this, I found a recipe for OREO crispy treats. I can’t wait to try them. Instead of a birthday cake, I might just make those….and probably eat it all by myself. I think that’s a pretty sweet deal. Maybe I’ll find a way to add a little Nutella :)

Reply

She is such a cutie!!!

I am glad summer has come to an end (not that we had one in the UK). I love Autumn so much – I am so excited!

Reply

Tell Brooke that sometimes I just need to get outside if I’m grumpy too!

Reply

I’m a pretty big fan of grilled salads — tossing the veggies and greens in the pan for a bit with a shock of dressing. I find it brings out the taste a little better.

Definitely looking forward to fall — if for nothing other than (1) amazing seasonal recipes, and (2) cooler running weather. On the flip side, however, I am going to miss summer! We were spoiled with such amazing weather this year, I kind of don’t want it to end… Well, that’s not true. I’ll go for fall weather, but not winter weather.

Reply

Really excited about fall! The smells, the food and colors. Oh fall is the best season! Holds so many thing close to my heart, like my wedding anniversary, my birthday, college football, pumpkins, sweaters and boots with skinny jeans, and of course…Thanksgiving. Oh and races!

Reply

Brooke is too cute! You are too! And your husband is too! What a sweet family! You inspire me!

Reply

Too funny…the first picture, it looks like Billy has a pony tail! :)

Reply

My older dog likes to sleep in our bed next to me and the younger one for some reason in our wardrobe.

Bleu cheese is awesome, I love to put in on the top of pizza :)

Reply

Charlie on the coffee table cracks me up! Bungee doesn’t really sleep anywhere weird, but she does run a lot in her sleep which is hilarious.

For Labor Day I did a lot of nothing. I slept until 10 and then lazily cleaned the house and then rollerbladed and ran. It was awesome.

Reply

Billy’s really rockin’ the whole skull tee and pink skirt look ;) And Brooke is seriously the cutest little thing ever… she just wants to be outside so she can start running like her momma :)

Reply

That picture of your dog is hilarious – I have never seen a dog do that before!

I am SO ready for fall. It’s my favorite season and pretty much all I talk about these days.

I eat a salad most every day with dinner and sometimes for lunch!

Reply

that is so funny that the dog is sleeping there! haha.

I totally gave my niece ice cream without asking my sister, and it was her first treat. So I approve of letting her taste the donut even though I think some mom’s don’t understand the harmlessness of it!

Reply

The dog sleeping on the coffee table is the funniest thing ever! It looks so uncomfortable! Our dog sleeps in our bedroom. I wanted him to sleep in the kitchen because it has tiled floors but he cried all the time so we let him sleep in our room. He usually sleeps on the side of the bed (both sides) and at the foot of the bed. The only negative is that sometimes he has nightmares and cries at night and I feel like I should go over and wake him up.

For Labor Day hubs and I went to my friend’s house and made Honduran enchiladas for her and her family. It was really fun and delicious. It’s the best Honduran dish and my husband loves making it for people (which actually means he loves telling people we’ll make it for him and then I make it – since he has no idea how to do it).

I am sad summer is over but I am also looking forward to the fall. I am 39 weeks pregnant, so one day soon I am going to have a fall baby and I can’t wait to take him for walks in the cool, crisp fall weather. Also, I love fall things like pumpkins, football, apple cider, the leaves changing, etc. It’s a magical time. But I guess I see all seasons as magical in their own way.

And I hate blue cheese. Yuck-a-roni. To me it tastes like dirty socks. I think it’s one of those things that people love or hate – like cilantro.

Reply

I’m a little sad about Summer ending, but with the kids in school, Fall might as well make an appearance. The temp in Texas is still up in the triple digits, so I’m definitely ready for some Fall weather. Love the pic of Charlie on the table. That is too funny. My dog sleeps at the foot of my bed.

Reply

I am ready to change your life— the next time you have rice krispie treats, put peanut butter on it, then chocolate chips and put in the oven until the chocolate is melty then spread all over-

your welcome- its delicious :)

Reply

Thank you so much! I can already tell this is going to be my new favorite food!

Our dog Argos sleeps in a kennel at the foot of our bed (when he’s not sleeping in the bed with us- which is difficult since he’s a giant lol). When it’s time for bed we say “Let’s go nuh-night!” and he runs in there and lays down. Adorable. He also hides in his kennel whenever someone turns on the vacuum lol.

Reply

That skull shirt reminds me of my college sorority – Chi O!

Reply

Our little girl’s “witching hour” is at the same time – and similarly the only solution is to go for a walk with her in the snugli :)

Reply

Big huge LOLZ at the dog on the coffee table! My dogs sleep on the roof of their kennel. Dogs are weird, man.

Reply

Haha, must’ve been one heck of a party with the pup crashing on the table!

Reply

HAHAHA “a taste of donut” Janae you make me laugh every day!

Reply

I LOLed several times in the post-keep up the fabulous sense of humor:)
So so sad summer is ova- excited to meet my new kids today (and by kids I mean students), but I wonder if they can be as entertaining and cute as Brooke… I bet they’ll give her a run for her money;)
Salads are my main squeeze, in life. Can’t get enough of em! Unless of course they have bleu cheese on em-then you couldn’t make me eat it! Blech! Make it feta, or goat, or mozzarella, and my heart and stomach are yours, though!
