Have you ever seen so much goodness in your life?

The best part about donuts at their house is that they encourage cutting them into pieces so that throughout the day you can try each and every single one of them.  My first plate of many, the grapes and side of milk made it a balanced meal.   My current favorite donut is the Apple Fritter.

This is when my sister first met Brooke.  Call me crazy but Brooke totally recognized her voice, and it made my heart explode a little bit.  She remembered that voice that she heard daily during my pregnancy.

Finally reunited.

They were instant best friends.

This is how it should always be.

Those three boxes of donuts made the 10 hour drive totally worth it to the kids.

I stuck with a normal cheeseburger.  I cut the watermelon which always means I eat 1/4th of the thing as I am cutting it.  Salt and vinegar chips win the chip aisle contest for best chip.

She is a pretty lucky girl to have such amazing cousins in her life.

I love the picture of you with your nieces and Brooke! So sweet! And I think I love the picture of the donuts a little too much. ;)

When we went to the Kentucky State Fair with some friends a few years ago, we all decided to buy a couple of Krispy Kreme hamburgers, and divide them up so we each got a quarter of a burger. It was surprisingly good, but I don’t think I could have eaten much more than a quarter!

You have such a beautiful family, it’s cute seeing everyone together again!! Haha thanks a lot though… Now I’m dying for a donut!! :-P

I just got running 7 miles for the second time EVER and saw your pictures of donuts. I think that is a good prize for going the distance this morning. I just might have to go get some :) Have a great day!

so you won’t believe this. ….My son turns 7 today and guess what we are having for the second year in a row….a donut birthday!!! We use donuts and make sundaes with them. It is delicious. Love and hugs! I can’t wait to show him your post. E

So glad you’re all having a wonderful time together! :)

I’ve always called my little cousins – who are now 16 and 13 – my little sisters, because that’s truly what they feel like. It’s a beautiful thing to be so close to your cousins!

This made me so happy!!!!
There is truly nothing better than family!

Today’s my half-birthday .. does that count?! haha. I worked overnight last night, so I didn’t sleep in because I haven’t yet been to bed. The cousin I’m closest with is moving to the Arctic circle for a year, leaving next week. I’m going to go crazy without her!!
Your nieces and nephews look so entranced by Brooke — they’re definitely going to take care of her like a sister for life!

Your family is so beautiful! You are lucky to have them. Also, those donuts looks yummy. Not so sure about the donut/hamburger – but I’ll take your word for it! :)

Oh how sweet about Brooke remembering her voice…kinda made me teary. Those donuts look amazing. I woke up early as in 4:30, my mom is turning seventy this month and my son is turning fourteen (clutching my heart). Glad you had so much fun with your family. Don’t you love when they come to visit now that you live out of state? It’s almost quality time vs. quantity. Everyone’s so excited to see you….though I have a feeling they were even when you saw them daily. xo, Jess

I love the pictures! You look so happy to be reunited! I love salt and vinegar chips, they are definitely the best. And I love donuts but we have kolaches in Texas and they are AMAZING! kinda like a grown up pig in a blanket but way better.

When my nephew was born a few years ago I had been living with my sister for part of her pregnancy. At the hospital, she was meeting with a lactation consultant and the baby was hungry and so upset- she handed him to me so I could help while she worked with my sister and the second I started talking to him he calmed down. The consultant asked if I’d been around a lot while my sister was pregnant, because he remembered my voice. Seriously that is one of the coolest moments I’ve ever experienced and I will never forget it!

Those donuts look so good! My birthday is September 11 :) Kind of bittersweet since 9/11 happened.

Reply

so sweet!

One of my nephew’s birthday’s is Sept. 11th. It gives our family something great to celebrate on a day of sadness when something terrible happened.

Any donut with sprinkles :)

Unfortunately I’m not close with my cousins anymore…but growing up we were all very close!

I slept in a little bit (until 9am) felt good!!! Now that school started (I’m a teacher) During the work week I’m up at 6am…yuck!

I’m an April birthday myself, but just about all the other people on the Most Awesome People In My Life list have Sept. birthdays, including but not limited to 2 of my best friends, my sister (a third best friend), and my husband.

I don’t like filled donuts. So I’m apt to pick whatever looks empty. Especially if it looks chocolate flavored…

Not too many cousins in this family…and none that we really ‘grew up’ with. Family events never had a “Kid’s Table” in our family. My sister & I had to sit with the adults. We learned to discuss politics and the ripe age of 4 years old (kidding).

My long-run wake up alarm went off at 5 AM. I decided against obeying it, so I’ll have to squeeze that sucker in tonight instead… At least snuggling back under the covers felt good at the time!

Also? SO with you on the salt & vinegar chips. I can easily skip any other potato chips. But salt & vinegar will ALWAYS end up on my plate. Do you put vinegar on your french fries, too? [This might be a New Jersey thing, though. My husband thinks I’m nuts when I do it. Or maybe he thinks that all the time. Who knows? ;-) ]

Apple fritter all the way!!! My sister’s birthday is on the 6th. We are lucky to be close to many of our cousins.

Your family is so cute, glad you could all be together!

My stomach is rumbling as I write this. The donuts made me hungry! I would choose the glazed one.

I’m so glad you got to see your sister and nieces and nephews again. They are all so beautiful.

Reply

I’ve never really like donuts – but if I do eat one it is an old fashioned glazed…. We are close to my husbands cousins! They are the greatest! I slept in today until just before 7:30.. it was glorious!

Reply

OMG- those doughnuts look so good to me right now (especially since I am 33 weeks pregnant).

Reply

I love all the pictures!!!
Those donuts all look amazing but I love maple bars the best.
Two September birthdays in my family that are the 22nd and the 23rd, my brother and my sister inlaw.
I hit the snooze button twice does that count as sleeping in? Then I got up and did a 7 miler and it felt fantastic!

I have a twin sister and when my daughter was born (via C section) I couldn’t hold her immediately but my twin sister did and all the nurses were amazed that Ashley was screaming but calmed right now when her Aunt Sharon started to talk to her. It reminds me of how Brooke recognized your sister’s voice. So sweet!!! My nephew’s birthday was yesterday (September 1) and my grandson’s birthday is today (September 2). He is two years old and I can’t believe it. LOL. As for the donuts, I believe I would have to try each one of them. They look absolutely amazing. Take care and enjoy this time with your sister and her family. I am really close to my cousins too (I don’t get to see them that often but every time we get together we pick up right where we left off the last time we talked)!!!

So happy for you to be reunited with your sis and family! You’ve gone through A LOT in the past few weeks. Enjoy!

I slept in til 9:00 today. It was fantasmic.
What is it about donuts that keeps you from only eating one. I swear if I eat one I eat three. Not so good. But I love the glazed twist. It’s my mega fave. You have a very beautiful family.

So exciting that you got to see your sister, nieces, and nephew! Great pics!
I’ve never meet a donut that I didn’t like. I love donuts…maybe a little too much! My son woke up early today which means I woke up early today! :)

Reply

my family always cuts donuts in pieces, too, so we can try different kinds. BEST idea ever! now i’m craving donuts. good think my church always has donuts before the service! ;)

so glad your sister and sweet neices and nephew finally got to meet brooke!!

not too sure about that donut-hamburger concoction. hmmmm.

my MIL’s bday is the end of september!

i actually woke up naturally early today! glad to see i’m getting on a more normal sleep schedule, yay!

i’m super close to my cousins; they’re like my siblings!! the little siblings i never had, as my mom likes to say, since i’m the baby in my own family!

My heart is melting for you getting to reunite with your sister and the kids. So sweet. Enjoy your weekend together.

I slept in (sad when 6:30 is sleeping in) and then went for a 7 mile recovery jog on the beach. I love vacationing in California!

Reply

Those donuts look AWESOME! And I would totally try that donut-bun burger (I guess it’s like the McGriddle?). Brooke is so lucky to have so many wonderful cousins!

Reply

So great you got to see your nieces and nephews again!!! I can’t imagine moving away like you did…..I’m moving in two weeks and it’s only ten minutes away!!!! Lol

Reply

So glad you got to spend time with your nieces and nephews today. I bet they loved it as much as you did.

The goal was to sleep in today but I was up at 7 and felt pretty good. I had the doughnut convo at work the other day. The only doughnuts I like are those cheap ones you get in gas stations with the waxy chocolate on the outside….the small ones though, the big ones have too much doughnut to chocolate ratio lol

Reply

If any of those donuts has a custard filling I might drive over there to have it! :) It would never have occurred to me to have a donut as a bun for a hamburger! Billy looks like he is enjoying it, though!

The pictures of your nieces and nephews with Brooke are so beautiful. There is nothing better than watching little ones with even littler ones! I love my cousins dearly!

My oldest son’s birthday is in September and he’ll be (gulp) 13!! I can’t believe it!

My husband and I got up early today to do our long run for the weekend. It was great to do it together instead of flying solo for 8 miles (which is pretty long for us!). I appreciate that you encouraged me to blog about running… it gives me something to think about while I am out there.

Enjoy your family!!!

Such adorable pictures, I am so glad you are reunited with your family :)
Yes it is my birthday today(the 3rd in Australia), I am 21! And your donuts have sparked a major craving even though all I have eaten this weekend is lasagne, cheesecake, ice cream cake and normal birthday cake. It has been a good weekend ;)
I would probably choose a caramel donut, caramel anything is awesome!

Love all of the pics! What an exciting day!! The donuts look amazing…they’re my favorite. I love all kinds, but am partial to the blueberry cake. Lots of September b-days in my fam- father-in-law, mother-in-law, nephew, daughter, and sister….whew!

Reply

I have a September birthday!! :) I turn the big 3-0 this year.

I don’t have a favorite donut, but for some reason I would love glazed one right now.

Enjoy your family time!

Slept in today…didn’t make it to bed until 3:30am! No September birthdays. Favorite donuts have to be chocolate or blueberry! I used to be really close with a lot of my cousins but as we got older and our lives went different ways we grew apart. I am really close to my sister though and we’re also really close with my husbands siblings.

Reply

The apple fritter looks good! I slept in today until 10:30 and it was so nice! I didn’t get out of bed until close to 2! I am so happy you got to see your nieces and nephew. They must have been so excited to meet Brooke too!

Eeee I really love how much you love your family :D Sweetest thing ever. I don’t have a September birthday but I wish I did. My birthday is in January so it’s freezing cold and it usually falls on or close to the day that everyone goes back to school after Christmas holidays. Boo to that.

Oh, and I’ll take a little sample of each donut, thanks very much :D

I love the pictures, so adorable. My older brother and my father have birthdays, as well as my son’s Grandma.

We were up early and headed to the flea market.

Reply

My bday is in Sept!! My favorite donuts is Boston Cream. We slept in till 7…Haha

Reply

Would you believe I don’t have any cousins? Well, I take that back. I technically have one. My mom’s youngest brother has a 7-year-old girl, but no, we’re not close. I’m just not a kid person. I only see her at Christmas. And my Dad’s sister never had kids. We’re not very reproductive in my family. lol Neither me nor my sister want kids either.

Reply

I’m super close to my cousin Brittney. She and I grew up like sisters, I’m her maid of honor at her wedding this Saturday and she was mine at my wedding. I just couldn’t imagine my life without her in it. Especially the big moments!

Reply

My niece was wearing the same shirt that your niece Curly was wearing. We just left my sis and her kids who live 5 hours from us…. I hate not being closer to them! I have always love plain old honey glazed donuts

Reply

My birthday is tomorrow, and my family is barbecuing to celebrate today too!

I am calling my sister right now to request glazed donuts instead of hamburger buns. :)

Reply

What a lucky girl to have such great family!!! And those donuts look soooooo good!

I love all your random questions.

My favorite donut would probably be a glazed one with chocolate frosting or a chocolate long john. Something with chocolate. Mmmm

September is a big birthday month for the adult relatives ( March for the kids). My mom & aunt (twins) were born on my grandma’s birthday – September 11th. My dad and his mom are 3 days apart 10 days later. One of my BFFs is 9/5 – making us 6 months & 1 day apart.

I had donut ice cream tonight!

Staying with my cousins this weekend – we’ve been sleeping in :)

Beautiful photos of your (newly extended) family! I can’t help but feel like these posts are little sprinkles of sunshine into my day!

When I was younger, I was really close to my cousins, but now that we’re all older, we don’t see each other as often, so it’s tough.

Your nieces and nephews are so cute with Brooke!

Your nephew looks disgusted by Billy’s hamburger.

Awww yay for the long-awaited reunion, I bet everyone was so happy to be together!

I love your donut posts :)
My birthday is coming up- I’ll be 27 on the 18th. My husband is two years and five days younger than me- so there are a rough five days when I’ll be 27 and he’ll be 24… And he makes old lady jokes the whole time :)
I’m really close with my cousins- four of them were in my wedding party! Two boys and two girls- we grew up like siblings. I love that! :)
