Life with a newborn

Turns out having a baby is a little bit of work and you don’t have all of the time in the world like you used to (for example this summer when I had no job and no life) and so I didn’t post in the afternoon, get ready for a full report of the day.

Brooke really likes the night life and so we hung out most of the night and before I knew it it was 7 a.m. and we were on our way to drop off Billy at school.

Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.  In this case it meant driving through McDonalds for some egg mcmuffins that hit the spot in the 2.3 bites it took me to inhale it.

My mom and I did a total of 41 errands (pretty sure I would have just slept and cuddled all day if it wasn’t for my mom helping me so much) and one of the things we did was go to Brooke’s first pediatrician appointment.  She is clearly so happy to be in the picture with me.   Fun fact:  Brooke has taken more baths this week than I have showers this month…  hmmm something might need to change.   2nd fun fact:  stretchy leggings are all that will be worn for the remainder of 2012.

How awesome would that be to have those bowls just chillin in your fridge all day ready for you to top all of your meals with?

Here is where life gets really exciting. We are finally staying at our new place.  It is perfection (small but perfect).  I love every little thing about it and our first meal at our countertop couldn’t have tasted better.  I had the same tacos that I got on Tuesday but they weren’t as pretty so I will spare you the close-up shot.

We are going to go get real plates today but until then we will be paper plating it.  Have you ever had Costco rotisserie chicken?  You will love it if you like chicken.

We ate really early and so that constitutes that you should have three dinners spaced out throughout the evening.

What an adorable baby you’ve got there! :D
Yes, babies do change plans a lot and even though some mothers say parenting is a piece of cake, they’re probably fibbing 99.9% of the time. Of course we all love our children, however, we do run into some difficult moments at times. Right? :)

The food looks delicious! man oh man, you’re making me very hungry! lol!

Have fun!

I’m so glad you’re in your apartment with your little family! I take it that you got a bed now – you don’t want to be sleeping on an air mattress right after you had a baby! You need to be comfortable! You look so amazing – I know I have told you this in like every single post, but it’s the truth. Love you!

The picture of Brooke and Billy is precious! Everytime I saw Adam with each of children after they were born, I fell more and more in love with him. I watched a lit of Friends during the sleepless nights after each baby. Actually, I still eatch the show all the time.

So glad you posted – I was going thru withdrawal!!! ;-)
You guys look so happy, and Brooke is just precious. I can’t believe how mobile you are already! It took me weeks before I ventured out to do errands. You rock!
I don’t eat much candy, I’m more of a salt addict. But put chocolate and salt together – oh yea, now you’re talking. And I LOVE guacamole! In fact, I had a Holy Guacamole appetizer just the other night with one of my BF – delicious and tasted better sharing (although I could have eaten the entire mountain of awesomeness myself).
Have a good weekend!

She is so cute. It looks like you are adjusting really well to being a mommy and doing a great job! I think you said in another post you were sad your cupboards were the wrong color, but I just wanted to say I love white (cupboards/furniture/etc.)! It makes everything seem more open and spacious (to me). I hope you get used to them and don’t hate it.

congratulations Janae!! You look so beautiful!!! And Brooke is gorgeous!!! You’re going to be such an amazing Mom!!

You are just glowing while holding her at the doctor appt…(yes, she looks thrilled too..ha!)

Hubby and I watch The 70’s Show almost EVERY night before we go to bed. We never watched it when it was on regular TV but then he bought the DVD’s when they came out as a set and for a couple of years we have watched them over and over and over….we are actually becoming Red and Kitty over the years I am afraid. (Again..HA!)

I just ran 6 miles in one hour!! Two fist pumps for 10 minute miles…it felt great since its been months since we hip injury and finally feeling better to run…now I need to work more on speed. ;-)

You and Billy look so incredibly happy. I can’t help but smile at all of this! It’s amazing how calm you are and that you aren’t letting everything overwhelm you. I can see how huge of a lifestyle change bringing a baby home can be, but it seems like you’re not forgetting to cherish every moment, and I think that’s whats most important. :)

I have a massage today (thank heavens)

Last candy that I ate was… Uhm… I think a Peep at Easter? Maybe?

You’re girl is gorgeous, Janae. The picture with Billy is my favorite. SO cute.

I definitely LOLed at the night life comment. So sarcastic but so funny. :) Things will be hard, of course. It’s something new and needs 24/7 care, you’ll get in the groove soon!

SO happy for you, she is a beauty. There really is nothing like a father and his daughter together, that is pure true love right there. You are going to rock this mom thing trust me!

From your post, it is clear to me that the early days of having a baby revolve around food. That’s something I can get on board with!

The last candy I had was a package of red vines at the movies to make me feel better about not being able to run for a week.

Reply

Right now I am writing a blog post lol Last candy I had was PB snickers!! So good!!! Better than a reeses! gossip girl!!! LOVE that show!!

You and your baby girl are so adorable :)

Make sure you aren’t doing too much and take time to restore/heal. Delivering a baby is a lot of work. We love the posts, but if it’s a choice between a post and a nap, choose nap for a while. Bossy “Mom”-type talk over. Brooke is absolutely lovely!!!!

Reply

Awwww Brooke & Billy really are incredibly sweet together. I love seeing dads with their babies, it’s always so sweet!! She’s just perfect… haha now I want one :-D

I can NEVER get sick of watching scrubs and I’m convinced that the Janitor gets more hilarious every time I watch it (he’s my fave!!) I feel like nothing he says is scripted, and I wonder sometimes how the other cast members don’t bust out laughing when he talks :) That show must have been a blast to shoot!

I also love the Girls Next Door and the Big Bang Theory – I can watch both over and over!

Reply

I’m googling the nearest Baja Fresh asap! That salsa looks so good! Have you ever tried Wheat Thins in salsa—it’s amazing. I love Arrested Development, Friends, and The Office. I’m sure I’ve seen every episode at least 5 times, but they never get old!

Reply

Oh my goodness, she is adorable and I’m so happy for you. I missed reading you blog this week because of work (stupid work) and just seeing the news now. You look like such a cute little family. Congratulations! I’m sitting here all happy/teary now.

I never, ever get tired of Seinfeld. Oh, and the last candy I had (last night) was dark chocolate covered pomegranates. And since it’s technically dried fruit AND dark chocolate, it’s good for you. heehee

Hi…I guess I am the creepy girl you don’t know one bit that loves your blog. First….I love that you are real and actually eat “normal people food” and post about it. Second…your baby is beautiful. Third….I don’t know how you ran when you were about to pop. My pelvic bone felt like it was going to shatter at the end of each day! Well good luck with mommyhood, it is quit the adventure.

Last candy I ate was gummy worms :)
We just got back from the lake. Beautiful outside but our 2 yr old was getting cranky and needed a nap so we left.
I have also watched friends more than I can count (I own all the seasons) but I also can watch sex and the city over and over as well.
So glad you guys are settling in and doing Costco trips already! I think I hibernated in my house the first month I had my little guy :)

I could watch King of Queens all day- just watched an episode a few minutes ago! I can also watch a million episodes of The New Adventures of Old Christine too.

I had some flavored tootsie rolls earlier today- love those.. I haven’t tried those air head extremes- but the boys I nanny for love them.. so I’ll have to try them.

Enjoy your weekend with your family :)
