The Perfect Afternoon

When was the last time you had quiche?  If it has been longer than 2 weeks then I am telling you that you need to make some today, drop all of your plans and make it.  If you are wondering what food you are going to be hearing about obsessively on my blog for the next few weeks because I am craving it so badly, it is quiche.  Eggs, cheese, bacon, veggies and a buttery crust? I can’t think of a better combination especially when you are eating perfectly ripe fruit and carby delicious muffins on the side.  In case you haven’t noticed yet, I kind of have a little thing for food.

Today was my baby shower with more friends!  Most of my friends have had one or two kids already and so I asked them every question under the sun about babies.  I even learned how to swaddle a baby from one of my bf’s that is currently living in Thailand but is back visiting for a few weeks.  Random memory, but the below girl is the one that I made my GOAL LIST with and we were also tennis doubles partners…. way too many good times.

The cutest Megan MADE me a blanket and my friend throwing the shower MADE me baby Toms from a pattern she got off of Etsy.  How are people so incredible?

My cutest running and bachelorette watching partner!  I am going to find a matching swimsuit and coverup for me, I am obsessed.

Friends from high school, blogging and also my sis-in-law.  It was perfection.

After the shower I came home for Billy’s favorite part of the day.  He sits on the couch and I show him every single item and talk about each thing for at least 7 minutes.  He loves it.

Rewind to this morning, I woke up and ran 7 miles outside.  It is crazy how many runners there are outside when you are running before my usual running time of noon.  I am learning that waking up early really makes it worth it so that you can avoid the sun beating down on you the entire time.

OLYMPICS TIME!!!!

Can we trade legs for a couple of weeks? Mine have not liked long runs for the past few weeks and I am not happy about it! Favorite quiche add in is lots of spinach/zucchini/tomato and cheese!

NOOOO I am so so sorry that your legs are being rude lately! Take a few days off, that always helps me!

Baby clothes are the cutest!! I love quiche! Really almost any veggie works but some of my favorites are broccoli, spinach, peppers, onions and lots of cheese!

Ran just over 5.5 miles this morning, a little later than I would have like but the sun only came out on my last mile so it wasn’t bad.

I’m glad you had a great time at your baby shower! That little swimsuit is too adorable.

I started my run pretty early this morning (5;30) so I was able to beat the heat. I’d rather get up early when it’s cool and then nap later than have to run in the heat. I saw lots of runners (and walkers) on my run today, too.

I love quiche too!! Yum!
I paced 15 miles today at the nyrr long run. It was so much fun!
Looks like you had an awesome baby shower!

I was checking out the pics in this post and had to do a double-take when I saw Sarah. My husband went to law school with Rocky. What a small world!

Monica… that is the coolest thing ever. Aren’t Rocky and Sarah the BEST!! I need tips from you on how to survive having a husband in law school:)

As long as you plan on never seeing him during finals and rarely during the week, you’ll be good :) My daughter and I used to pack a lunch for all of us and head to the school to eat with my husband because some weeks that was the only time she would really see him.

Ahhhhhhh noooooooooooooooooo! This better be worth it!

Love the baby swimmies! Too cute. I run with a running group and we start our Saturday long runs at 5 am. Early but so totally worth it!

WOW 5 a.m. hopefully that really beats the heat!

I LOVE quiche! It’s my go to meal when I and can’t think of anything else to make. I throw in whatever fresh veggies we have and always some fresh herbs. And there must be a significant amount of cheese!

Yeah for fun showers, so happy for you!

I LOVE quiche, my parents used to make it all the time. Big lovers of a Sunday brunch. Last time I had it was a couple months ago at my friends shower and now I NEED it.

My run today was wonderful! Ran down on the beach front in Newport and then after the run took baby girl the little bay beach I used to play at for some fun in the sand/water. Then dropped by and surprised a good friend I hadn’t seen in forever. Pretty much perfect.

I made quiche yesterday! It had bacon, sharp cheddar, spinach, and grated zucchini in it. Super yummy. I ran this afternoon and it wasn’t too hot, maybe 70? It’s pretty easy to avoid the heat in Seattle!

Reply

I waited too long and ran in 90 degree heat. I didn’t see one other person! I was so exhausted and couldn’t figure out why the heat was getting to me so bad-when I got home and took a look at my Garmin I realized I was haulin’ in some miles in the low 7’s. Whoops!

I did five easy miles today with my puppy. Getting ready for my first Olympic distance triathlon tomorrow. Can’t wait!

I was totally a tennis player in high school and I coached my girls’ high school team at the school that I taught at for 6 years. I still play and love it-life long sport! Today was a 40 mile bike ride up the canyon. So hot!

You always look so adorable in every picture you post! Looks like you had a great shower and that blanket is so cute, I love it!

I have never had quiche. Don’t even really know what is it honestly besides knowing its made with eggs.

No run today, I work all weekend :(. My next run will be Monday and I am looking forward to it!

Aww, Happy Baby Shower #2 day :D Looks like a ton of fun, wish I was there…although that would be rude to invite myself. ;) If you ever make it to FL, I will throw you a baby shower…or better yet we can just go & eat quiche, then frozen yogurt, and bake all day in the kitchen with our little girls!
Awesome run this morning!
Enjoy your Sunday!Thinking of you Xo

My dad and I have a very special Christmas tradition involving quiche. About 10-15 years ago my dad’s friends were having some financial issues. Similarly we knew a couple other families that were having a rough year with health and finances. So we woke up at 4am and made 6 quiche. We loaded them into coolers lined with towels. The week prior he called the friends and said “I am going to ask you a question but you cant ask any question back. What time do you get up on Christmas morning?” So Christmas morning we each put on our Santa hats and knocked on their door at the times they told us and dropped off breakfast and then headed to the next house.

We have continued the tradition since that time. Every year we pick different families and make 1 or 2 if the family is big and deliver breakfast. Of course we always make 1 or 2 for us :) It makes us very sleepy by noon but it is great.

Mmm quiche- love how versatile it is too…so many combos work :)! Your friends are so sweet- glad u had a great shower!

Our garden has been going nuts lately, so when we had extra dough from making a strawberry/blueberry pie, we made our first *ever* quiche with potatoes and kale from our garden. You aren’t kidding that they are AWESOME!!

I really love kale in my eggs and quiche now. Dangit, now I’m not going to get quiche out of my head, and it’s all your fault . :)

Reply

I love quiche! When Mike and I first got married, he’d never had it before, so I went through a phase where i made it for him every week.

That bathing suit is so freaking cute!!

Reply

Is it weird that I only ever tried quiche once in my life? Now chances aren`t too big that I will find any at 10.49 in Hungary, but I`m making a promise to find and eat some as soon as possible.
I especially think that swimsuit/cover up are cute. And you got some talented friends, I can`t even sew two pieces together in a straight line!

HAPPINESS! I absolutely LOVED getting to see you and your cute lil’ prego tummy yesterday. You look absolutely beautiful, and I am so excited for you! Please don’t move ok? Love, love, LOVE you! xoxoxo

Tennis player! All through high school and college :) I haven’t played in about ten years regularly, though, and now that I’m running I’m scared to play again because I don’t want to injure myself and not be able to run. I love to make quiche with a potato crust (shredded potato), and I also make a Mexican quiche with corn tortilla crust, refried beans, green chilis, and crumbled sausage (and of course, egg, cheese, and milk.) It is soooo yummy!!! :)

I love your outfit…you are so cute! Looks like you had a great time with great friends. :) I’m not a bit quiche fan bc of a bad first time experience lol. Olympics time!

Yes, I made the cut again! :) I like making appearances on your blog. You’re adorable and you are my running inspiration. I’m pumped for tomorrow night.

I am so proud that you are still running so far. My knee is still being wonky. I have decided that I will end up walking my half in September. :(

I’m glad you had such a fun baby shower!!

Hey Janae!

I absolutely love your blog and follow it religiously. You are truly an inspiration with your fast times and being able to run so much during pregnancy! You look adorable too btw, cutest baby bump out there!

I played tennis competively in high school, but I still play all the time. I got into running earlier this year and I LOVE IT! I’m pretty much obsessed with it, but I’ve been battling darn IT band problems, which has set me back and is extremely annoying.

I know you’ve dealt with injuries in the past and my training seems to be a lot like yours was. I feel like I go hard all the time and I really should ease up and do more easy runs rather than try to go out there and kill it every time.

Oh and I also love froyo as much as you :) Actually, I think I have a problem I love it so much haha!

Can’t wait to see the baby and good luck with your move!!
