2 Sad Things and 50 Happy Things

2 Sad Things about Yesterday:

1.  We sold my mountain bike.  I was secretly hoping that no one would buy it and therefore we would be forced to find a space in our future one bedroom apartment to put it.  We will NOT be parting with our road bikes though.

So many good memories with BIlly and my bike up in the mountains.

2.  My shoe broke.  I was watching USA play against Korea yesterday in volleyball and I was getting so stressed out that I scrunched my foot up really tight and the strap broke right off.

It was my brother’s last day in town yesterday (that makes it 3 sad things) and so we made sure to do really mature things like see who could spin the fastest and for the longest on the Lazy Suzan.

Good thing dinner was after the above activity.  My dad whipped out the grill and made us bbq chicken which tasted so good.  I added extra bbq sauce to dip my green beans in, try it.

We watched the woman’s beach volleyball, swimming 400 medley and men’s gymnastics before heading up north to hang out with special visitors that were driving through on their way back to California.

I have told you about Billy’s love for electronics, especially Apple products, but I think things are getting a little out of control.

Billy’s brothers are all very close.  When you get them together you will be guaranteed to laugh the entire time.

I almost cried at the end when I realized that I didn’t put on any whip cream after we had already payed but the nice man saw the tears welding up in my eyes and let me add it on for free.

We quit the challenge as of Friday…  Still, we went 18 days without spending money on food…. Now we are just going to make up for lost time.

I don’t have a bike, but I think it would be fun to be able to bike with Brandon. :) We did this 3 hour bike tour when we were in Barcelona last weekend, and although I was terrified for the first hour (I hadn’t ridden a bike in 20 years), I eventually relaxed and really enjoyed it!

Reply

A 3 hour bike tour… that sounds beyond fun! Plus you were in Barcelona! I am loving your recaps!

AWE for selling your bike. (Not that I enjoy biking in the slighest) but I can understand about selling things that are really meaningful I think. Though, who would want to buy old swimming suits and running sneakers! Anyways.

I’m enjoying swimming for sure and can’t wait for track to get really into it.

Reply

Too bad you don’t love biking because I am pretty sure you would win every triathlon in the world with your speedy swimming and running!

I reeeeally want to get an iPad. I got my hubby one last year for his birthday and now I secretly wish that I just had gotten it for myself…for his birthday haha.

I haven’t really watched much of the Olympics yet (eek!) because we’ve been doing other awesome things this weekend!!

Reply

Your homework this week is to get an iPad, you deserve it. I always get Billy presents that I will enjoy too ha:)

I could not live without my iPhone & iTouch….I’m an Apple girl throughout :)! That fro yo looks soo good- my fave toppings are blueberries & oreos- yum!

Reply

How did we ever live without Apple products? Mmmmm oreos! Hope you are having an amazing day!

I love to mountain bike!!!
Unfortunately I grew up in Florida…..
Still, anytime my family goes out west my brother and I “mountain bike” aka he walks away with scars and I ruin a pair of breaks haha.

Reply

HAHAHAHA I need more details about your ‘mountain bike’ stories. Sounds just like me and Billy when we go together:)

Reply

I love m&ms or reeses pieces! And I spent $6.50 on froyo with Chelsey yesterday, it was a new record! Haha 13 miles made me hungry!

Reply

I am SO jealous I wasn’t with you and Chelsey at froyo. $6.50….you are my kind of girl! Way to go on 13 miles!

Reply

I know it’s hard to sell your stuff, I’m sorry!
I watched volleyball, soccer, swimming, handball, and table tennis. I pretty much ran and then watched the Olympics all afternoon.

Reply

Sounds like the best day ever! When was table tennis on? How did I miss that?

Reply

I hate biking. I think it all started when I constantly used to have biking related accidents as a kid. Good thing I like running so much, I don’t miss not biking.

I so want an ipad, but can’t justify buying it when I already have a macbook and a macbook air and iphone.

Reply

All of those biking accidents would make me hate biking too. Much easier to get hurt when biking then running:) I think you can totally justify it… we did. Just don’t buy important stuff like washers and dryers like us:)

Reply

We have mountain bikes, but I’m dying to get a road bike. I could not live without my macbook pro, it’s def. my favorite electronic.
that lazy susan thing makes me dizzy just thinking about it:o

Reply

YOU NEED to get a road bike and then someday we will plan a ride together:) I love hearing that other people are Apple people too!

I watched the Olympic games last night (Saturday). Men’s gymnastics, 400 medley, and beach volleyball. Did you see their new outfits (volleyball)? NO more bikini tops!

Reply

We were wondering about the new outfits. Do you know why they are saying no more bikini tops?

Reply

I don’t have a bike, but would love to get into biking. I just have no clue where to start when it comes to buying one!

I watched volleyball, swimming, and men’s gymnastics yesterday. Love the olympics!

I keep telling my husband I want to get into cycling with him. He is really into road biking, so one of these days hopefully we’ll suck it up and buy a bike for me. Those things aren’t cheap!
For some reason, I seem to almost always forget the hot fudge until AFTER they weigh and we pay for our fro yo. Most of them are pretty nice and just let me get some for free. ;) Lately I’ve really been craving more fruity flavors with fruit toppings. I’m usually about the chocolate, but I think the hot temps make me want the fruity stuff.

Reply

lol. so glad you’re challenge is over. time for jason’s deli dates and yogurtland!! ;)

p.s. will you email me the 2 group photos from your showers?

I have a 3 speed cruiser and a road bike. My husband has a hybrid. We love to bike and I have really gotten into this summer. I’m even watching the women’s road race right now! We watched the same sports as you last night.

I would probably feel that way if I forgot sprinkles!! I’m pretty in love with my old Macbook!

My boyfriend and I just sold a bunch of our things at a yard sale (he’s moving away for a new job! So happy for him but sooooo sad)-it was hard to see some of it go! But everything’s replaceable! :)

I want to get into mountain biking really bad!!! It just seems like it would cure my cravings for adrenaline :)

watched some cycling, swimming, men’s gymnastics, women’s volleyball and beach volleyball. Beach volleyball was my favorite to watch yesterday!! Intense intense game!

Probably my computer, without it I wouldn’t be able to watch New Girl or Blog

Sprinkles are my favorite to put top of my froyo :) LOTS of sprinkles

Cookie dough bites!

I’m sorry about your mountain bike. How sad and your sandals. My husband has a road bike and since we both have clip in’s I sometimes ride it but I would love to get into biking more seriously! I have been watching bits and pieces of the olympics. loving it!!!!

Reply

I have a mountain bike. It’s a lovely lavender color and has the most uncomfortable seat ever.

Olympic events I watched so far include part of women’s volleyball, women’s beach volleyball (loved it!), men,s gymnastics, all the swim finals (Ryan was amazing!).

Favorite piece of electronics (besides phone)? My laptop for sure! Followed by my iPod.

Reply

I’ve probably traveled about a football fields length worth of Endos over my Mt. Bike handlebarswhile.

So far I’ve watched the main swimming events, but mostly I’m addicted to walking around aimlessly watching badmintion on my Olympic Ipad App in between McDonalds commercials.

Can’t wait to do a run on the treadmill while watching the marathon.

Reply

Sorry you sold your bike. I am a huge mountain biker and I supplement it with road biking. Yesterday I did a 40 mile road ride up the canyon and today I am driving 3 hours to go mountain biking in a new locale-pretty stoked.

Reply

I like cycling and I do it a lot lately. ;-)
I watched cycling, swimming and beach vball. Dig the Olympics.
I can’t seem to get enough fruity pebbles on my froyo.

Reply

I love my ice cream with slices of kiwis since I never buy them myself!

Reply

This is especially appropriate for you and Billy since I saw it in the parking lot of Costco. You know those stickers people put on the back of their cars usually of stick people for themselves and any kids/pets? I saw big Mac apple stickers and baby Mac apples on the back of someone’s car. I had never seen that before.

Also in the men’s medley…did you see how that newscaster asked Phelps how it felt to swim and not medal? Phelps didn’t even know how to respond. That was hardcore to even go there right after the race like that. Wow.

Reply

Oh my goodness, Marcy thank you for telling us about these. I am going to get these stickers.. Billy will love it!

I didn’t see the newscaster asking Phelps about how it felt to not medal, that is not very nice!

Reply

I did have a mountain bike, but sold it because I needed the money. Now I just rely on spin classes.
I’m pretty impressed you lasted 18 days without spending money on food! You deserve the treat!!
I’ve just watched swimming so far since I an old friend was competing. And a little gymnastics as well! Two of my favourites.

Reply

i feel the same way when i’m getting rid of old running stuff (shorts, shoes, etc.). i keep telling myself: ‘why am i donating/selling this???

Reply

We have touring bikes – like road bikes but stronger, made of steel and made to carry loads across the world. We did a lot of touring before we had our baby, I miss it now. This week, I’ve vowed to get back on my bike again!!!! My Half Marathon got done this morning (2.04, hurrah) so I can do some cross training instead of just running!!

And I love our Mac Air…it’s amazing.

Reply

I put bbq sauce on everything! I even dip my asparagus and brussel sprouts in bbq sauce. So good!

Favorite yogurt topping is for sure the brownie bites and cookie dough. :)

Reply

Love road biking! Just got back from Lake Tahoe where we biked around the lake every day (72 miles, almost 4,000 ft of climbing per day). So awesome but now I am so exhausted after a week of biking 300+ miles. My running shoes keep giving me sad looks. ; ) Mtn. Biking is fun, and there are a lot of great places to Mtn. Bike in NorCal but I seem to crash a lot on dirt. Road I never have a problem. I can’t wait until you move here!

Reply

All if them. Seriously. So far my fav has been watching my son cheer on the women’s road race.

Reply

Favorite electronic is definitely my laptop and today I had Taro Froyo for the first time and it’s my new fav. It was so good topped with kiwi, strawberries, blueberries and almond slices.

Reply

Buying a road bike is at the top of my list for next summer! I would love to have the option to do something else on my non-running days, and love the thought of covering a lot of ground and enjoying time outside! Plus, I’m trying to psych myself up for a triathlon!

I loved watching cycling yesterday, and swimming! I’m anxiously awaiting the marathon, triathlon, and track and field events. :)

I love my iPad, but after being without my lap top for over a week, I don’t think I could part with it again.

Reply

I just got a road bike last week and did my first ride yesterday! I signed up for the SG 1/2 Ironman! I’ve been taking swim lessons too! My first Tri is in 7 weeks- Kokopelli. AND I just found out I have tendinitis from swimming and can’t swim for another week. I will be the last one out of the water if I don’t drown. LOL

I love my iPad and the Olympics.

Reply

I don’t have a bike…but I’d love to get into road biking! If you ever have a chance, I’d love a post with tips on getting a road bike. (I think I looked through your blog the other day and didn’t see one…so if you’ve already posted that, then please excuse my incompetence.)

My Mactop. I love it and don’t think I could live without it. Ok, I could, but I’d rather not!

Butterfinger. always butterfinger.

18 days is super impressive!

Ok so all the “protection” for the iPad in the car- but no cover or a case?!?!?!

Reply

Fave froyo topping right now: chocolate cake crunchies, those things they put on ice cream cake. omg when i saw them i almost died.

Fave froyo flavor: Salted caramel pretzel. have you had this flavor? it’s absolutely AMAZING and I am not a huge caramel fan, so that’s saying a lot! It’s double amazing with chocolate covered pretzels on top (and cake crunchies of course)

Reply

18 days with no spending money, that is amazing! Good job Janae!
I have an accomplishment to brag about, I took a certain amount of money on my beach trip and I didn’t spend a penny more, I spent exactly every dollar I took. That’s pretty dang good! But I guess I could have come home with money lol

Reply

Girl that is awesome! I always overspend on vacation so that is awesome you were able to do that!

Reply

Aww sad for having to sell the bike… However, this means when it comes time that you need another mountain bike, it means you get to pick out a new one! Bike shopping is the best! I have a mountain bike but not a road bike.. I really want one – but I have a heart attack every time I shop for them, I’d have to live on kraft dinner for 2 years!

My current favourite electronic is my Blackberry Playbook. It’s so small and convenient I can throw it in my purse and I take it everywhere with me :)
