Caught Red Handed

My day was spent entirely outside yesterday and I think that is how it is supposed to be.  Tell that to your bosses or professors and ask them if you can move your desk outside.  Tell them I said it was a good idea.

After lunch my sis and her kids went over to my old (and most favorite ever) boss’ house to go swim.  I used to be a personal assistant for her and it really was the coolest job you could ever ask for.

Have you seen prettier flowers?  The pool is at the top and it is one of those awesome infinity ones.

A few hours later I found myself at a table in a park with a beautiful buffalo chicken Subway sandwich in front of me.

There were also a few of these in front of me too.

I am convinced that anything will taste better when you are eating it while sitting at picnic tables during the summer.

We had a lot of fueling to do to prepare us for a huge event.  Running is not the only thing that you need to carb load for.  Although for future reference carb loading should not occur 10 minutes before you play.

We had an intense game of kick ball.  Boys against girls and the girls won by a landslide.

I still have a pretty wicked kickball kick.  I was worried that I lost it because I haven’t played since I taught PE a few months ago. The arms are required to go out to the sides now to make sure I don’t lose my balance.

I did get a little bit of speed work in running from base to base… sub 3 marathon here I come;)

Do any of you have a pool in your backyard?  Have you ever had a pool in your backyard?

-I had one when I was growing up in St. George, it is way too hot to live there without one.

What was the last game that you played outside?

Best/coolest job you have ever had?

How have we not discussed the latest episode of the Bachelorette?  What did you think?  Who do you think will win…. Jef or Arie?

Haha love that picture of billy throwing the ball at you! I haven’t played kickball in ages–it looks like so much fun! You mean holding your hands to the side so you don’t tip over isn’t normal?!

Best job I ever had–working at a dog kennel–dirty, but who can get crabby when working w/cute dogs!

Jef is going to win.

Have an awesome Thursday Janae–I hope you get to spend all day outside again and w/your favorite people!

that looks like SO MUCH FUN!
I am convinced that Jef is going to win. I would probably put money on it. I love Arie, but Emily and Jef together seem to be like two peas in a pod.

I love kickball! That picture of Billy and you is hilarious…total blackmail right there, lol! Last game outside wasn’t really a game but frisbee! :) Never had a pool but my neighbor did but I’ve never really liked water…I kind of just dipped my feet in and.or jumped in and out, lol. Have a great day!

that last picture and caption is so funny! were you safe?? :)
I’ve never lived in a house with a pool in the backyard. I’m sure some of that reason is because I live in MN, but I’d love to have one someday!

No Pool for me ever :( sad sad lol oh well.

Last game I played was basketball with the BF :) I’m not terribly good haha

Coolest job I’ve had, is babysitting dogs :) They are so easy and they always make me happy

The garden and yard are stunning! Your summer days seems perfect!
I’m going to pitch to my boss that I need to work outside today. Depending on who I have meetings with, I sometimes hold them outside. It is such a great pick-me-up, and it’s way easier to stay awake through boring meetings!

Looks like a great day! I’ve never had a pool in my backyard, but I would love one!

That last picture is too funny! I love it!

That garden is amazing! Love the way the retaining walls were done. Also, the photos of you and your family playing kickball are adorable.

I had a pool when I was growing up. It was about 6″ deep and my parents filled it with a garden hose. ;)

So much fun!!! Ahhhh great pic of the “ball throwing”!

Your family always has such fun get togethers- love it! That picture of Billy throwing the ball at you is priceless- classic behind the scenes moment :)!

My parents have a pool in their backyard but right now it is so hot and humid that it feels like bath water, so it’s not very refreshing.

I WANT YOUR SUBWAY SANDWICH! And I love Curly’s pose she’s doing in the pic w/ you guys and your sis. She is too cute!

I’m team Arie all the way, but I have a feeling I will be disappointed. :( Don’t forget, the finale is on Sunday, not sure why… but I just found that out last night!

No pool growing up but I was .5 block from the pacific ocean so I guess that worked.

Not really a game but running around the park and going down the slide with Ryleigh on Monday after work.

I guess I would have to say my current job is the coolest cause he lets me have my baby at the office full time, can’t beat that.

Bad billy!

I love kickball! My department had a kickball tournament at the end of the school year last year- can I say awesome?!
JEF!!!! If she would have kept Sean instead of Arie, my vote might be different.

Reply

Oh my goodness that pool looks amazing!!! Think you can get me an invite, too? lol

The last game I played outside was volleyball in my friend’s pool. It was a lot of fun!!!

what a fun time with the family! i haven’t played kickball in forever… that needs to change! i love it.
my parents have a pool at their house (the house i grew up in), but they live in arizona, and pretty much everyone has a pool there! i don’t know how you’d survive without one. haha.
and i was just reading your last HRG baby post… you are seriously the cutest pregnant lady ever. don’t you ever think otherwise. ;)

We had a pool in our backyard growing up. Now we have a river. Not the same, but I will take it. Love the family game of kickball-so fun.

Reply

I’ve definitely said that before – everything tastes better if it’s eaten at a picnic table!

Reply

I want to play kickball now!!

I’ve never had a pool, but up until recently always had friends with pools. It’s easier that way, I’m not in charge of the upkeep :).

The last game I played outside was probably fetch with the dog. I’m so exciting!

Bahahaha. I LOVE that picture of Billy throwing a ball at you. I laughed out loud! I love that ya’ll still have so much FUN together. I am getting married in September and i so hope that we are still goofy together like yall long into our marriage! P.S. Me want Subway cookies.

No pool in my backyard. But when my parents moved about 5 years ago, they were on a quest for a straight ranch-style house with an in-ground pool. And that’s what they bought! It’s glorious and I miss it very much.

Last game I played outside? I hiked last night and a friend I was with fell in the creek we were closing. It was deep so no one got hurt. And we both laughed so hard it definitely felt like a game! My family plays badminton men against women when we are all together. Very competitive!

Best/coolest job I have ever had is the job I have right now!

Reply

hahaha i play kickball with my students all the time and they relish the opportunity to throw a ball at me. i wonder if i should take that personally…

The house we bought last fall has a pool in the backyard. I love it, especially now that we hired someone else to take care of it!

The coolest job I’ve ever had is probably part of my current one as a high school teacher- I also advise the yearbook. It’s pretty stressful, but making an actual book that people buy and keep forever is pretty awesome.

Reply

Ahh I wish I had a pool! And I cannot remember the last time I played a game outside, well, okay I played “let’s hunt the squirrels” with my brother’s dog! She’s pretty good at it. Me, not so much. I think that’s due to my lack of desire to get too close.

We never had a pool growing up, but I was lucky enough to work at a camp as a lifeguard for 7 years. My boss was awesome and always let us come use the pool whenever we wanted. My little brother took over my spot after I graduated from college, so we still have open access!

My favorite jobs are tied between the lifeguard (I also got to work as a ropes course facilitator!), and working at a small D3 college as the athletic trainer. They teams at the college weren’t very good, but it was fun to see some decent D3 athletes in action!

My MIL has a pool in her backyard. I love just laying back by the pool or on a float with a drink. So relaxing – especially when you can just go inside for the restroom, food, drinks, etc. Nice and convenient!

That last picture is HILARIOUS!

I am all for Jef, go UTAH!

Reply

We moved into a new house a couple of months ago that actually has a pool! I thought I could either take it or leave it but it has been awesome having it – not to mention how happy it makes my 4 year old :)

Last game outside was probably Bocce?

Hmm…coolest job….Summer after I graduated high school I worked the concession stands at an amusement park. The job itself was not that glamorous, but th park and concessions employed all high school/college aged kids and it was a fun social place to be :)

Kickball..sweet! I am terrible at kick ball, don’t know how that’s possible! How are you going to move away from your family?? :( I feel so bad for all of you- you are so sweet together!!

Re: Bachelorette, I truly don’t see her with either one. I LOVE Jef (he totally grew on me, I thought he was a punk the first night) ;), but I don’t see HER as a good fit for him. Arie is not husband material. I cannot wait to see what happens! I have been staying off all of the “spoiler” websites!

Family + Subway = the perfect day :)

No pool now. Concrete bound in DC. :( But growing up my parents had a pool, my grand parents, my aunt…. We swam all the time. I was routinely water logged during the summer.

Last game I played was probably frisbee. but that was ages ago. I avoid anything required coordination.

Hm best job? Probably interning on a committee in the House of Reps. All my other jobs have been a bit too desk/routine bound. I like it when every day at work is different.

Reply

Ohhhh fun!!!

I WISH I could work outside. That would rock!

Subway sandwiches are the best!

Looks like such a fun day!!!
My parents have a pool in their backyard. AND IT IS AWESOME. Having a pool right there growing up was the best thing. I miss it… Now I don’t even have a backyard… I have a street with lots of cars. New York at its finest…
I played tag outside the other day. It was pretty awesome :)

You grew up in St. George…I grew up in Enterprise…just down the road a ways :) We are having Mac and Cheese for lunch and I thought of you.

I actually have a job interview today and I am a little nervous!
And those cookies have triggered my inner cookie monster, all I want to do right now is eat cookies.

what a GORGEOUS pool/ backyard!! WOW!!!
Sounds like the ideal afternoon- love your outfit- you are too cute with your purple shoes!!
The next house we buy WILL have a pool in our backyard. Right now we use the community pool, which is literally steps from our house, but I would LOVE our own pool..especially living in FL…it’s a necessity!! :)
I think Jef is going to win..and I kind of hope he does!

Reply

Looks like such a fun day! Family days are always the best. I cheated and peeked at reality steve…so I know the winner, but I won’t tell!

Reply

Family days are so fun! Never have had a pool, though ALWAYS wished for one as a kid. Now that we own a home and have kids though, I’m so glad we don’t have one! Too much work!
I think Jef may actually be 12 (am I wrong? Doesn’t he look really young?) so Arie? But I wish she would’ve have kept blond guy… they could have been Ken and
Barbie :)

Reply

I had an above-ground pool in my backyard growing up and it was amazing!!

Reply

Never had a pool but it was the ONE THING i always wanted as a kid! Now I live in a tiny apartment and the closest i get to a pool is a bucket of water on my balcony.

Last game outside = massive frisbee battle! An awesome psychedelic rainbow light-up one!

Best job was the gym I worked at for 3 years (reception/admin work). It was horrible in some ways (5:30 starts, late nights, split shifts, terrible pay, some less-than-stellar management) BUT i made some of my absolute best friends there, met my boyfriend, and learned so much about health and fitness. I also REALLY came out of my shell working there, and got so much more confident and outgoing. It was perhaps the first time I’d been somewhere where I felt like everyone really liked ME and I felt valued and like ‘the cool girl’ for the first time in my life. hahaha.

I had the worst DOMS after my first half marathon. I did all my training through the winter with temps no higher than 55 and of course race day was the first hot day of the year at 85 degrees. Oh my gosh, my muscles were not ready for that and I couldn’t walk for about a week!

Reply

Best job I’ve ever had…definitely house and pet sitting. I get to stay one week each year at this amazing house – it’s 8000 sq ft, has a gourmet kitchen, and has an incredible backyard with a gorgeous pool. It’s awesome.

you are really going to miss being around your family ALL THE TIME when you move, girl! Looks like so much fun!

Haha that last photo is great!!

I just wanted to comment on this because I’m planning a charity kickball tournament for my sorority! i’m glad so many people think kickball is fun :)
