Youngest Child Syndrome and Bagels Galore

Picture taken exactly 4 minutes after waking up and it actually hurt when I tried to make my eyes so big for the picture (eyeliner leftover from yesterday).  I grabbed a lemon yogurt, banana and Love Grown and made my way up to Power Pump.

I always tell myself that I will do the elliptical after class but I get on and realize that my whole body is already sore and go back to my car.  Instead I did a 3 mile walk in my neighborhood.

I am trying to get in as much time as possible with my mom before we move in two months and convinced her to take me to Einstein’s for lunch, we had coupons after all so you really can’t turn that down.

Why do I forget about cream cheese?  It makes every sandwich a trillion times better.

The madre also had a coupon for a dozen bagels and cream cheese and since there are just two of them she gave me half of the bagels and cream cheese.  Expect a post tomorrow about the cinnamon sugar bagelS I eat at 2 in the morning during my normal ‘wake up Billy to hang out and watch Netflix with me because I can’t sleep’ time.

PS Leave bagels in your car for a little while and it will be the best car freshener ever….I wanted to eat my seats.

I am the baby of the family (by quite a few years) and so growing up I always went to the grocery store with my mom (the older kids were too cool to do errands).  She always let me choose one treat when I would go with her (the skittles addiction started early in life) and yesterday I made sure to remind her of our old tradition.

I chose a 20 lb watermelon for my treat today.

Now I am just relaxing and watching House Hunters at my parent’s house until Billy is done with school.  I have to do a load of laundry before Saturday’s race now that I have found my miracle running bottoms and the only sports bras I don’t chafe in.

PS I was downstairs grabbing something and came across these boxes, they are enabling my oatmeal cravings and those five boxes might last me through the summer.

Anyone else the youngest in your family?

Have you ever had insomnia?  Do you ever wake up during the night without being able to fall back asleep for a while?

Love the food storage at your parents house and those watermelons look good. I just returned the one we bought b/c when I cut it open it was that gross mealiy texture.

I like chive and onion, but I have not been able to find it. I usually just get plain cream cheese though.

I was the youngest child till I was 13. We adopted a little girl, 3 years later my parents had a little girl and then 6 months after that we adopted another little girl…they are now 18, 15, and 14!

Lately I’ve had insomnia and more times than not it is difficult for me to fall back asleep after I have woken up.

Favorite cream cheese flavor … hmm, that depends on my mood. With a chocolate chip bagel from Panera, I like hazelnut cream cheese. But if I’m a savory mood, getting an Everything bagel from Einstein with jalepeno cream cheese is THE BEST!

Reply

Einstein’s everything with jalapeno salsa cream cheese is my absolute favorite! I get the one EVERY Sunday morning after my long run. :)

Those bagels look goood! Doesn’t help that I’m hungry…luckily date night tonight with boo so I am looking fwd to dinner!
Always say I’m gonna do more yoga! And strength training. Don’t do enough of either one. I can do cardio all day long but will always find an excuse to forgo strength workouts and/or stretching. If I get two strength and or yoga sessions in a week, it’s a good week! :-) I miss Bodypump, I need to go back soon.

I never want to do pushups. EVER! I”l do plank or burpees but enver end up doing pushups.

Onion cream cheese is better than any other cream. Onion breath in the morning rocks!

Reply

Sun dried tomato is my all time favorite cream cheese! I had horrible insomnia last night and woke up my boyfriend tossing and turning. I need a nap!

Reply

I’m the favorite, youngest, oldest, and middle child ;) lol I am an only child. My parents always let me get a treat and the grocery store too and I remember getting orange tic tacs a lot!

Reply

I haven’t had a bagel sandwich in the longest time but those are amazing! I love the free pickle that usually comes with them, too!

I always tell myself I will swim laps but I never do…I just hate dealing with the wet swimsuit and chlorine-smelling skin.

Pumpkin or garden veggie cream cheese is my favorite. Or strawberry!

I’m the oldest in my family! My sister is 3 years and 2 days younger!

I’ve had some horrible insomnia this past year–I took your advice and usually watch Netflix on my phone with headphones when I can’t sleep! It usually does the trick!

Have a great night!

Yep youngest. Right here.
You should check into the articles about birth order and how it affects personality, it’s so interesting.

I cannot lift before I do cardio. I am always so tired afterwards, so I have to do cardio first.

Reply

I’m the youngest too! My mom still buys me snacks at the store too. Moms are awesome.

Reply

I get insomnia quite often, which usually results in me sleepwalking (not really) to my fridge and snacking during the night! Idk if its insomnia or just that i love to eat – all the time LOL

Reply

Einstein’s is my first stop when I am in the States! Love the cinnamon sugar bagels and honey almond schmear!
I am not actually a huge cream cheese person, but the schmear is something else. haha. Growing up I loved strawberry cream cheese though.
I am the oldest and have two younger brothers.
Sometimes I wake up and cannot fall back asleep for a few hours, but its rare, maybe every 2-3 months.

REALLY with that bagel pic? I keep commenting on your posts because I’m having similar cravings/aversions as you, but I’m much further behind at 16 weeks. I was just telling someone yesterday that I was craving a sesame seed bagel piled high with turkey.

I know you commented on this earlier, but do you have the turkey heated up in the microwave before you eat it? My doctor is very lax and says the only thing I should avoid eating is bagged cabbage (scratching head), but I would love for your response to be “no Robin, when I go to Subway and Einsteins I just eat the turkey cold”. Steaming meats are not on my list of cravings, that’s for sure!

Oh, and lastly, I used to go with my dad to the market every Sunday. Not a chore for me at all, I love the market and I was daddy’s little girl!

Reply

HEY ROBIN!! My doctor is the exact same way and I eat the turkey COLD. He even said hot dogs are okay. He just told me to stay away from raw fish…bagged cabbage though…hmmm never heard of that. How about you come visit me and I will take you for a sesame bagel with turkey and we can talk all about babies and pregnancy!

Oh wow! That’s enough oats to feed a small village. Are you planning on going on a oats only diet? Lol

I wish they hadn’t closed Einsteins bagel near my house. I may need that for breakfast tomorrow. I am the youngest. It’s a tough job. My family is in sunny CA so whenever I go home my mom has all my fav foods and fruits. It’s heaven. I like spicy cream cheese and regular, depending on my mood. I’ve had a LOT of trouble sleeping lately. But my hubs does not like to be woken up so I just wonder around our house or clean. Maybe I should start watching tv.

I am the youngest, too, as well as the only girl! I usually do the weight circuit room once or twice before running at the gym, and I always tel myself I’ll go back and do it once more before leaving, but the door to leave is always closer and more appealing! I used to leave my mid-day snack (a cinnamon raisin bagel) in the dash of my car in college because the sun would toast it for me! :) Solar cooking, right? But yes, the car would smell ah-mazing, too!

Reply

I always tell myself I’ll do yoga but it never happens!
I’m the youngest too, my brothers are 7 and 11 years older than I am.

Reply

Who will help u with the baby once u move?

Reply

I love Einstein Bagels. Their honey almond is my favorite cream cheese. I always tell myself I’m going to do yoga, but I never get around to it. That is some serious oats.

Reply

I really hate doing the planks where you alternate going down on forearms back up to hands. Hate them.

Reply

I always say I’ll do this 1 hr bootcamp dvd and then wimp out 10 minutes in! I can’t force myself to do it even though it stars my dreamboat, Bob Harper ;) I’m the oldest by 2 years. There aren’t any bagel places near me–which is probably a good thing! Is your mama running a black market grocery store out of her basement? Lol. My mom used to shop in bulk like that too when my brother was in high school because all of his buddies ate at our house several times a week! I’d really like to try Body Pump sometime, but there’s nothing close. I got a short and fast run in today and it was exactly what the Dr ordered.

Reply

Love that you chose a watermelon for your treat today :-)
And I’m so glad that you mentioned laundry because I just realized mine’s in the dryer and I need to set it for another 10 minutes to get the wrinkles out. And then I’ll probably forget it again.

Reply

I just cut out watermelon from Costco 2 hrs ago and it is half way gone. Oh my goodness it is so delicious! I always tell myself I will do a workout video later in the day if I miss my morning gym time and I usually end up doing the video about half the time I promise myself. Too many things distract me when I am home.

The only time I have had insomnia is when I was prego with my 1st. I would wake up because my body ached so bad and I would just sit there and cry. Does Billy really get up with you? Ross just slept through my whining! lol. I didn’t have problems with Evan. I remember waking up, but I was just so tired I fell back asleep easily. Just last night my husband and I were discussing my ability to fall alseep within 15 seconds of my head hitting the pillow. No joke.

Speaking of bed time. Last night Annabelle said in her prayer that she was grateful she got to ‘meet and play with mommy’s fun friend.’ I think you have a new pal for life ;)

Good luck to you guys on Saturday! You will do awesome and I can’t wait for the recap!

Reply

Favorite cream cheese flavor is cucumber dill! It’s a summertime special at Bruegger’s… do they have those in Utah?

I’m a twin, but I was born last so technically I’m the youngest :) It’s actually my birthday today!

Reply

Your sandwich looks amazing!
I strangely don’t like cream cheese!
I’m the youngest, but only by two years.

Reply

oh gosh, I haven’t had cream cheese in sooooo long. I’m lame though, I would always choose plain!

Reply

I bribe my kids to come to the store with me and only get treats for the ones that do. Too bad that doesn’t work with wither of them anymore so I just get myself a treat instead.
I am addicted to House Hunters. I have 24 episodes of HH and 24 episodes of HHInternational on the DVR and am waiting for a good night to have a marathon.

Reply

oh, you crack me up, “…I wanted to eat my seats.” hahah
and I’m the youngest too! Love getting all the treats!

Reply

I ALWAYS tell myself I’ll hang around after my Monday night spin class and do yoga… but there’s an hour wait between them and I always get tired and hungry and cranky so it never happens. Booooo!

I’m the youngest in my family by a lot too – my sister (the oldest) is 20 years older than me, and my two brothers are 14 and 16 years older. So I’m used to playing the ‘I’m the baby’ card ;)

Those boxes of oats = what heaven must look like.

Reply

I always steal my parents bulk oatmeal. My step brother is a trucker and brings home a ton of damaged boxes (still totally fine) and we get great stuff for…free! I have no clue why grocery stores wouldn’t just sell the bent boxes at a discount.

Reply

Yummmm bulk oatmeal!! I survive off that stuff. If I don’t do my cardio machine HIIT training before I teach my classes then there is a 50% chance I won’t do it after hours of instructing aerobics.
I’ve never had cr cheese (lactose) and I’m the oldest child!

Reply

I’m not. a big fan of cream cheese, so no favorite flavors here.

I love yoga, but I usually don’t have the patience to do it.

I had insomnia with both of my pregnancies, esp in the 3rd trimester.

What brand eyeliner do you use? If I ever sleep with makeup on, I end up looking like a raccoon in the morning!

Reply

HEY JUDY!! Good to know I am not the only one experiencing insomnia during the third trimester. You are right…yoga does take a lot of patience. I use Mac eyeliner and it stays put for at least two days.

Reply

Is it Mac fluidline eyeliner?

Try to take as many naps and get as much sleep as possible now. Once the baby comes, your sleep will never be the same. My 5 yr old is finally a good sleeper, but my 2 yr old twin girls still get up in the middle of the night.. I love having kids, but boy do I miss feeling as well rested as I did before having kids :-)

Reply

HEY YOU! Yes, it is the fluid line eyeliner…so good! Thanks for the advice! I can’t imagine having twins!! WOW!!! You are superwoman. Keep any advice coming:)

Reply

I’m the only, but my husband is the youngest of 5. I did cream cheese on Ritz when pregnant the last time. Most satisfying and tasty thing imaginable.

Reply

I am the baby in my family by quite a few years. I still get spoiled by both my parents and siblings.

I always say I’m going to do weights after a hard/speed workout but then I grab my coffee and relax instead. I need to get better about incorporating weight workouts into my training.

Reply

I am the youngest and love it! Ha! I always say I am going to do speedwork and never do it. I always make up some lame excuse, like it’s too hot. It’s always hot in Florida!

Reply

I’m the oldest and am so a mommas girl while my sister is daddys girl. My mother still buys me treats, even though lately they’ve been in the form of home decor. I have trouble falling asleep almost every night and wake up a few times a night, but usually can go back to sleep within 10 mins. Good luck on Saturday!

Reply

I pretend like I swim, but never really do it until right before a tri : )

Reply

I never wanna do sit-ups! Boring!

& my fav cream cheese is salmon..mmmm!

Reply

does stretching count as a workout? i always say i’m gonna stretch the ole legs but never seem to find time. poor muscles.

Reply

I’m the oldest in my family, and I always went to the grocery store with my mom. Now when we visit my parents, I still go to the store with my parents, and I always get a treat! My husband has even started going along so he can get treats, too!

I usually wake up around 3:00 and toss and turn, check Facebook and Twitter, and end up moving out to the couch so I can watch TV without disturbing my husband while he sleeps. I wish I could sleep one night all the way through!

Reply

I am the youngest in my family and I LOVE it!

I also wake up in the middle of the night a few times every night. I can’t stand it…it really, really bothers me. Too bad AIM isn’t still cool. If it was then we could get on and keep each other company at weird hours of the night. :)

Reply

I’m the baby of my family too and can vouch for the rumor being true: we get away with everything :)

Reply

Grrr, I have insomnia something awful. I have been awake since 1:00 am (it’s now 5:30 am!) and I can’t even have breakfast this morning because I have to go in for my glucose test. They better give me a yummy flavor!

Reply

Spinning. I don’t like cream cheese. I am the baby. And I do have insomnia. But mine is about staying asleep. I fall asleep just fine but can’t stay asleep.

I’m at the airport right now and was just debating getting a bagel with cream cheese for my flight. You’ve convinced me.

I’m not the baby, I’m the weirdo middle child.

Reply

I’m ALWAYS telling myself that I should do pilates and yoga. I always end up running/stairmilling/or bodypump-ing.
I love plain cream cheese but lox cream cheese is good too.
I’m the youngest in my family by 10, 14, and 15 years. My sisters are like 3 extra moms that, in HS, I didn’t want. Now we are bff’s :)

Reply

Ah I am the oldest…. but always went to the grocery store!! My dad would bring me to mcDonalds afterwards (super healthy)!

Reply

I always loved going grocery shopping with my mom too! Nowadays if I go it’s to throw in random items I don’t normally buy myself haha.

Reply

I love Einstein’s bagels…never had lunch there but that sandwich looks delicious!
Cream cheese on bagel is one of my biggest weaknesses, I love it!
