Strengthening moves and the person that isn’t embarrassed by me.

Workout:

4 miles on my good ol’ treadmill and then I went up to the gym to meet up with my sister and get a pump class in.  There was a sub today and she officially took the lead as my favorite pump teacher ever and I don’t throw that term around lightly.

Every move that we did worked a million muscle groups at the same time.  She threw in some cardio intervals that were fun and crazy hard and overall I felt like I got an awesome workout and am more than ready for a rest day tomorrow.

Two favorite moves that we did:

1.  Plank (on your hands) with a paper plate under each foot.  I had to modify because my stomach kind of got in the way but we did around the worlds (bring both knees towards your chest and push legs out to sides to make a circle and back to plank position).  Vs (start out with feet spread apart and bring them in towards your chest and bring the feet together, push them back out to form a V.  Last we brought both knees towards right side of chest, back to plank and repeat on left side.   I hope that made a tiny bit of sense because it was killer and I want you to try it.

2. Plie squat Click on link for proper form:)

(Mom, don’t worry, I will wash my hair before the family party tonight…I know she was wondering)

When you stand back up then raise your arms up (one in front and one to the side).  Repeat until your shoulders want to die and then switch arms (the other one to the side and front).

Wow, I should be a personal trainer with those incredible descriptions;)

After the gym I went to Costco with my favorite Costco shopping buddy.  Sorry Billy but you were bumped down because my sis is way more fun with the samples.  She doesn’t get embarrassed by me running from one table to the next and she will wait in the long lines to get each and every sample.  She will even give me her sushi (California roll) sample because she doesn’t like sushi.

Other samples included: Chips and salsa, hummus, chicken sandwich, yogurt, licorice, beef jerky and dessert.

We ended up getting one of each flavor of popsicle which totaled 8 flavors.

We also walked out with one of these for our family party tonight.

Now I am relaxing on the couch and about to make some wraps for lunch (all of those samples were just appetizers).

What would you put in these tortillas for a wrap?

-Of course I am going to load it with turkey and I wish I bought some hummus to go in it too…maybe I will have to go back to Costco.

Do you wear your running shoes to do cross-training?

-I used to but not anymore…my running shoes are strictly for running!!!

Anyone out there like my sister and NOT like sushi?  Do you know anyone that doesn’t like sushi?

My husband does not like sushi AT ALL. It’s an issue, lol.

My favorite thing to put in tortillas is chicken, buffalo sauce, and every veggie we have in the fridge….easy peasy.

Reply

That would be a huge problem in my marriage, I don’t know how you deal with that Kris! YUMMMMMM I need to go get some buffalo sauce!

I know LOTS of people who do not like sushi, but I am not one of them. :)

LOVE the tip about putting paper plates down while planking. I will try that!

Reply

Try it and let me know what you think!

Post baby, I’d love to try a pump class. I have a friend who teaches one and has invited me, but I’m cheap and it’d be expensive to go. I might ask for a few month membership to the Y to get me through the winter.

I have never actually tried sushi…

Reply

NEVER TRIED IT!!! AHHH!! We are going to have to change that. Good call on the Y membership in the winter.

mmm, love sushi!

my favorite wrap (which i ate for lunch ALL WEEK) includes turkey, peaches, lettuce, bell pepper, and papaya poppyseed dressing. so delicious!

I love sushi! One of my favorites is the Rainbow Roll! Unfortunately my boyfriend doesn’t like sushi, so I rarely get it.

Reply

I love sushi; but only the veggie rolls (I am a vegetarian so that’s the only one I can do).
I do wear my running shoes for cross training, but only the older ones. Once my running shoes have met their milage limit they retire to the world of cross training.

Reply

I totally do the same thing. My older running shoes get a “new life” as my running errands, playing dance central and strength training shoes.

Reply

I don’t like sushi!! :)
but then again, I’ve never tried it. BUT I’m not really a fish person when the fish is cooked soooo I’m guessing I wouldn’t like fish uncooked.

xoxo

I won’t touch sushi! I just had a spinach wrap for lunch (every veggie known to man, egg whites, roasted chicken, and spicy mustard!!) oatmeal was my side! The waiters begin preparing my food when they see my car pull into the parking lot. Love it!! I wear my running shoes in all my classes–except spin.

I’ve tried really hard to like sushi but it just isn’t happening! I feel left out – people seem to like it so much!!! :(

Reply

I like your sister even more, I don’t eat fish at all…nor seafood.

I think some tomato, lettuce, cheese, sprouts, turkey, bacon, coleslaw… :)

Reply

I love those tortillas!!! They’re the best! I fill ’em with black beans, chickpeas, salsa, and a TON of crushed red pepper flakes. That was pretty much my staple dinner in college haha

Reply

I love sushi and thankfully do does the boyfriend. :) I don’t think I cod date someone who didn’t, ha.

I currently wear my running shoes to cross train. I know it’s terrible and I need to get some new shoes ASAP!

I think I’ll start spending my Saturday afternoons at Costco and call that my lunch. :)

Reply

I would definitely go with turkey, hummus, cucumbers, and avocado.

I’m so guilty of wearing my running shoes for weight training, but I’m about to buy some new running shoes so I don’t do that anymore. I do wear different shoes for Zumba.

The only people I know who don’t like sushi are the people who refuse to try it (or refuse to try the ones I know they will like – I am a sushi expert hehe).

Reply

-I would put in avocado, chicken, black beans and a winger’s amazing sauce(which is my dinner tonight!)
-I was told not to cross train in my running shoes, so I don’t anymore.
-My boyfriend won’t touch sushi rolls, but he loves raw tuna. Myself, on the other hand, give me all the sushi my tummy can handle!

You are the cutest pregnant lady!! I love the demonstration of the moves with your cute little belly!!

Reply

my husband gets so embarrased all the time! Not always by me, but sometimes :)

Reply

I would make a chicken wrap with taztiki sauce and tons of veggies! And avocado, obviously. I’ve only had sushi once and it was all right. I don’t eat it often cause its so expensive! And I do wear my running shoes when I do cross training, because my orthotics are in them and I get injured without the orthotics no matter what I’m doing. Haha

Reply

Even before I went veg, I didn’t eat seafood. But I LOVE me some A.A.C. sushi!

Reply

I love that your still doing such great workouts whole pregnant!!! Tour bump is adorable!!! And I love sushi!!!

Reply

Those Costco samples look amazing! I rarely get a chance to go to Costco, but I’ve never seen sushi!

Reply

My parents don’t like it! They have never tried it and I am dying to take them out for some, once they get past the texture I think they’ll be fine.
We would be great Costco pals, I hop from one sample station to the next and I definitely wait in lines, which embarrases my husband. Haha!

Reply

Dang. I shoulda went to Costco today. They had some good samples for you today! And my BFF doesn’t like sushi. So weird.

Reply

I’d love to know more about people’s cross trainers! Anybody have any favorite shoes?

Reply

We do not have a Costco….:( Love sushi especially the tuna roll with avocado & cucumber. Almost everyone eats sushi except my Mama & one of my BFF’s but I have lots of peeps to enjoy with!
Love filling the wrap with a poached or scrambled egg, low fat Mexican cheese blend, avocado, spinach, tomatoes & salsa served warm…yum!
Only wear my running shoes for running too!
Thanks for sharing your work-out!

Reply

I don’t like sushi and I am half Japanese so everyone gives me a hard time about not liking it! My running shoes are strictly for running!!

Reply

I love sushi!! And Costco! Have fun with the fan tonight :)

Reply

I don’t know any who doesn’t like sushi.. thank god! Hahaha I love it way too much! I wear old running shoes to cross train :)

Reply

My wrap= a skinny cow cheese wedge with some cucumber and turkey. Light and refreshing!
Wear running shoes for cross training is a big NO NO!! Especially if you are doing any sort of plyometrics or high impact moves, you will wear your shoes down much faster! I like to stick with light weight flat bottomed shoes such as the nike free tr’s for my cross trainers! :-)
SHUSHI!!! I love it so much….now I need some asap! But sadly…my hubby does NOT feel the same way. To be honest I think something is wrong with him…like seriously….

Reply

Wraps I can’t eat enough of lately are filled with veggie cream cheese, romaine lettuce, red peppers, cherry tomatoes cut up, turkey and a sprinkle of chredded cheese. sooo good :)

Reply

I can’t imagine life without sushi–I feel bad for sushi-haters! They don’t know what they’re missing out on!

I love Laughing Cow Cheese wedges, turkey, sprouts, tomatoes, lettuce, and a little spicy mustard on a wrap. Yum!

I wear my “retired” running shoes for cross training. Every once in a while I’ll break the rules and wear my running shoes, but only if I’ve had a long day and my feet are sore.

Reply

I lovee sushi!! I know plenty of people who don’t like it, but I also think a lot of them have never tried it. I think most people could find SOMETHING they liked at a sushi restaurant! :)

Reply

I can’t stand sushi (or any fish other than canned tuna for that matter). I really wished I liked it because when I hear people talk about it it sounds so good.
I never wear my running shoes for anything other than running. I love my cross training shoes (Inov8) because they are minimal. I guess I love all of my athletic shoes.

Reply

omg i love those tortillas!!! I put spinach turkey tomatoes and a little cream cheese in mine! Also it may sound really weird but cream cheese and rasberry jam on one of those is SOOO good. I’m kind of cc obsessed right now. I wear my old running shoes for cross training. I know it’s probably bad, but whatever.

Reply

Love sushi, especially salmon avocado rolls! What flavor pie is that? Looks super yummy!

Reply

I wear my out-of-rotation running shoes for cross-training. I am currently working 2 new pairs into the rotation. One old pair will be my everyday shoes and the other will be cross-training.
I don’t like sushi.
I am not much for sandwiches.

I love sushi :)
I had a really rough race at Grandma’s Marathon yesterday, and my husband brought me a beautiful sushi dinner to our hotel room because I was too sore to go anywhere!
Post-race sushi is the best kind of sushi.

Reply

I love wraps, I make one almost every day for lunch. I usually use turkey, hummus, spinach, tomatoes, pickles and sometimes cheese. Yum!
You crack me up with your samples of Costco. I wish there was a Costco that was near me I would definitely shop there!

Reply

I love everything in tortillas, veggies, salad, turkey, chicken, etc. I feel like everything tastes good in one haha. I don’t like sushi! I’m not much of a seafood person (at all, I really only like clams, from the can, made into linguine and clams haha)

Reply

Holy samples! I wish the regular grocery store had that many (and that good) samples! Mike did make me nachos after coming home from grocery shopping, so not all was lost.

Reply

I think it’s safe to say i don’t like sushi…but i probably have never tried it. But, yup, it’s true, i don’t like sushi anyway!! i’m not a big tryer-outter of foods – i didn’t like ketchup until 9th grade or pizza until college. Learned to like lasagna as an adult. Soo maybe if i had another 100 years or something, maybe then i would! ;-)

Reply

Bahahaha no pizza until college…yeah then I probably wouldn’t try sushi if I were you! Hope you are having an amazing day!!!

Reply

I know way too many people that don’t like sushi – and i LOVE it. I have cross training shoes and running shoes – it makes me upset if I try to swap them for the wrong activity!

Reply

Hahahah I love your love of samples!!

Reply

I get frustrated when I go into Costco and there are NO people giving samples. (Usually happens after 6:00 p.m.) What the heck?! Isn’t that half the Costco fun? (the other half being the $1.35 frozen yogurt cups!)
