Tuesday Tangents

This morning was spent doing what I do best lately, the elliptical while watching music videos and stalking blogs on my iPad.  Holy AMAZING Eugene Marathon Race Recaps…speed demons!

Photo

Is there an age when you should stop watching MTV?

Time for some Tuesday Tangents….I got rid of the triple part because I always end up wanting to do more than just 3.

1.  My lunch lady is trying to kill me.  The entire school smells like fresh cinnamon rolls and we were only allowed to have one per person, now all I can think about is how to break into the lunchroom to fit as many of the leftovers in my backpack as I can…one just wasn’t enough.

2.  Pics are up from the SLC half-marathon and you know I wouldn’t miss an opportunity to add in pictures of myself at a race.  Really great quality, I know.

I sure love to swing my arms….

3.  Hard boiled eggs are the snack of the week and our handy little egg tool allowed us to make the perfect batch.  Tonight we are going to have egg salad sandwiches with real mayo.

Even though it isn’t fun for Billy to have to deal with all of these crazy pregnancy hormones I am having it is all worth it to him now when it is my idea to add cheese to everything, eat greasy tacos and go to the store just to buy mayonnaise without begging for candy while we are there.

4. Speaking of the grocery store, has anyone tried these?  I don’t know if I would like them because the whole time I would be thinking about how I could have spent $2.98 on the Double-Stuffed Oreos instead.

5.  My ankle is feeling a lot better and so I am at that awkward stage and wondering whether or not to run our Anniversary Half Marathon on Saturday….why does running take so much thinking and ‘listening to our body’ blah blah blah?

Either way, I am so excited for Saturday because since our anniversary is on the weekend and not a workday we get to spend all 1440 minutes of the day celebrating and eating delicious food.  I need shrimp in my life soon.

Anniversary 2011:

6.   I am really loving my newest addition to my workout playlist:

7.  Happy Birthday to my nephew…he is 9 years old today!  They live in Kentucky but will be here this weekend and so we get to party and eat bday cake together on Friday!

I have 5 nephews and 2 nieces — oldest is 7. I also have another niece due June 9th! I keep joking with my sis-in-law that since I will be running a marathon that day we will both be in equal amounts of pain. For some reason she doesn’t think its funny! haha :-)

Reply

I think running a marathon was more painful tba
Giving birth ! :)

I don’t have any nieces or nephews but hopefully one day. Its actually good that I don’t right now because I am all the way in NYC (my siblings are in Australia) and I would probably miss them too much.

I bought a race pic once and got it on a mug. Its a nice motivational way to drink my morning coffee :)

Happy early Anniversary! I hope that you guys have a super fun celebration this weekend!

I had ice cream for dinner tonight! That’s my tangent for you!

The last seafood I ate was grilled tilapia!

My family is super small–no nieces or nephews yet! And, I only have two cousins total!

My race photos never turn out well haha

One tangent today…I decided to go with the whim of my hair stylist guy and change my part to the other side and also get side-swept bangs. Now, I’m wondering what the heck am I supposed to do with these when I run??? What do you do with your bangs to keep them out of your face? I put on my regular visor and they just flopped all over the place. This simply will not do. =)

Reply

AHHH CINDI!! I bet your hair looks absolutely adorable. I always use a bobby pin to pin them back or a headband. I cannot stand it when I have hair in my face when I am running. Let me know how it works out and have an amazing day!

Reply

Good call on not buying those oreos. Original is always the best choice.

I love shrimp! I had sushi yesterday for lunch. No shrimp but deftly tuna and salmon.

I have 11 nieces and nephews. The oldest is 15 and it turning 16 next month! Wholy Moly! They grow up too fast. The youngest is about 3 weeks old :)

I never buy race photos, only kinda steal them. Is that bad? Oophs!

Hi Janae, hope your days going really well. Its getting into winter here so my 6am morning runs are getting hard, i was so close to turning around and going back inside after less then a minute running, brrrr.
I have one neice who just turned one yesterday!
I love fish, surimi and creamed Paua but not much else when it comes to seafood beside my partner will eat anything out of the ocean and if i liked it then he would’nt get my share too;-)

Reply

OBSESSED with that song. also, i now want a cinnamon roll.

Reply

Hey I just wanted to give a little shout out to my girl Shalaya Kipp. We ran for Skyline together in high school and she now runs for CU. She got the 2nd best time in the world for the steeple chase for 2012 yesterday for 9:43. http://www.cubuffs.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_LANG=C&ATCLID=205421798&DB_OEM_ID=600

She qualified for the Olympic Trails. Someone to look out for!

Reply

OH MY GOODNESS….Jordan, that is beyond cool. Thank you so much for sharing with me:) I can’t wait to follow her running, so exciting!

Reply

1. Our AC unit went out today at work, when you work in a wedding cake bakery things need to stay cool including the employees! I had to eat cake tops to maintain the ability to push through ;-)

2. Love shrimp, especially spicy shrimp with shrimp sauce and egg noodles.

Reply

Last time I ate seafood was last night when I had sushi, and I LOVE SHRIMP! :)
I have 2 nieces and 2 nephews. 12, 6, 6 and four are their ages (if you care).

I have the same egg timer and LOVE it! One of the best purchases I have ever made.

Reply

I grew up on the Gulf Coast with LOTS of fresh seafood whenever I wanted it. All of a sudden 3 years ago I had a spontaneous allergic reaction to grilled shrimp and crab claws…no more shellfish for me. :( The worst is I still crave it, but just looking at my epipen nips that craving in the bud.

Reply

Hope you guys have a great anniversary weekend!!!
We had coconut crusted tilapia Sunday, delicious, now to re-create it at home! Love shrimp and salmon…or all seafood ;)
No nieces or nephews :(
We bought our Disneyland Half Marathon photos, knowing we might never do that race again and it was so amazing!

Reply

Wow, the smell of cinnamon rolls is so amazing…it IS cruel to say only one!

Reply

Berry Burst Oreos are the best!!! And even though it doesn’t say on the package, they are double stuffed so it is money well spent!

Reply

They are double stuffed??? AHHH win-win!

Reply

Oh my gosh! I am so obsessed with this song TOO! I heard it last night at a restaurant and I made everyone at the table stop talking so we could figure out who sang it! LOVE!

Also really looking forward to the Blizzard of the Month flavor – funfetti cake! I both hate DQ and love them at this moment!

Reply

I generally don’t buy race photos, but I bought mine from the SLC 1/2. But, all I can think of right now is cinnamon rolls. I feel like I need to find the closet Cinnabun STAT!

Reply

You should have talked the lunch lady into a roll for the baby…she needs one also.

Reply

I tried…..she said the baby is still too small for an entire cinnamon roll for herself ha:)

Reply

Those little girls faces are too much!!

I have 2 nephews and 1 niece. 1 of my nephews is the oldest and he is 10 years old!

Reply

Tangent #1 – I know I should eat, but nothing sounds good. At all. So I’ve had a hot chocolate today.

Tangent #2 – every day I wake up and wonder if today is the day I’m having this baby. Reality sets in and I realize that even though my due date is on Sunday, I will be pregnant forever.

Love seafood and shrimp. I made salmon for dinner last week. We regularly eat fish at home, but unfortunately I haven’t had shrimp since Christmas. Maybe I should change that.

I have one niece and three nephews. Both on hubby’s side. None of my siblings have any kids and I’m starting to wonder if my sister will ever join me in motherhood.

I’ve never bought a race photo. Holy expensive Batman! But there’s been a few good ones taken of me. Lucky for me, hubby takes even better pictures and way too many. Maybe I should print one out?

Reply

I thought all this time that we could be great friends, but then I find out you would spend your time wishing you had plain double stuffed Oreos when you could be dreaming about the mint ones. I’m sad to end our friendship this way.

Reply

I love shrimp!!! I had some for dinner last night!

Reply

I have 5 nieces and nephews and the oldest is 16! He is way taller than me AND driving!!

Reply

We have about 60 nieces and nephews. It’s really insane. Mostly on my husband’s side of the family. Some of them are the same age as us.

Never bought a race photo because I am too cheap, but there are some I have loved! And some that were beyond hideous!

Reply

1 Trying to remember all of the buzz words to use to sell myself in an interview is tough!

2 It’s already too hot in the Central Valley (CA) today. I have to stay inside all day!

3 I’m dying for a nap!

Reply

I went all the way to Singapore for a half Ironman. I even spent $100 on all my photos from the race… And some of them were pretty damn awesome!
I figure it’s a once in a lifetime thing, I may as well have the pics to remember it!!

As for the other two…. it’s Wednesday here now, so no tangents, and I’m the oldest sibling and my brother is as shamelessly single as me… so I just terrorise my housemates kids!!

Reply

Your post today reminded me of when I was pregnant with my first baby (way back in 1999!) and during the first month I craved seafood, especially shrimp. Then all of a sudden – wham – I couldn’t stand the sight, smell or even thought of it. We had stocked the fridge in our little apartment in Midvale, UT and while my husband was at work all day, I had to get the shrimp out of the house, but I didn’t feel well enough to make the trek down to the dumpster at the other end of the apt. complex. So I threw all the shrimp into a garbage bag and put it out on our stoop, and a few hours later I heard the neighbors come home and yell: “WHAT is that smell??!!!” Hahaha!

Reply

Some day you don’t have work on a Thursday morning you need to come visit me at work. The cafeteria makes cinnamon rolls as big as your face. And you can have as many as you want!! I love sea food!! Tomorrow were going out for sushi to celebrate our anniversary so excited for some happy sumo VIP prices :)

Reply

I love the Tuesday Tangents!!

I really wish the Berry Oreos came in single packs, I don’t know if I can commit to a whole package!

Reply

I’d skip the Berry Burst Oreos. The original is way better than any other flavor although I’ve never had the berry.

Reply

I totally scarfed down my first ever pita. I even made it myself. Now I know why people say pita is awesome.
Made myself a handy running half marathon plan for the Nike Women’s Half in SF later in October. Totally phyced about it!
Ate a whole stalk of broccoli.
Payed it forward in traffic and let someone in.
Brushed my cat.
I love shrimp too!

Reply

Those Oreos look awesome! They have such great varieties in the States!
I have only one niece, but she’s incredible and has enough personality for more than one!
I bought race photos twice…from Ironman AZ (my first) and Disney marathon. They had really cool photos and video from four places on the course!

Reply

Those oreos intrigue me as well, but I agree with your choice to go with the original, you just cannot go wrong!
My tangent for today, I just drank an ice coffee at 8 pm.. not sure why I did this, but I now expect sleep to happen much later than originally anticipated!

Reply

oh yea! happy early anniversary. Are you going to go get DAWGS?! haha. I just wanted to say that the lunch lady is taunting you.. embrace it. hehe.

Reply

I am running the Provo Half on Saturday and am making myself sick about it! I can’t even think about it without serious butterflies! Eek! I hope your ankle feels better soon! Have a Happy Anniversary!!

Reply

yay happy anniversary!!

i usually buy race photos although i didnt at eugene last yr….i guess i forgot? they’re fun though…btw, i want a cinnamon bun sooo bad now

1.) My first marathon is THIS Sunday.
2.) I’ve been compulsively checking the weather.
3.) I can’t wait to live off of pancakes for 3 days.
4.) I’m looking forward to the reunion with my loved ones post-marathon.
5.) Hydrating means peeing every 30 minutes.
6.) I’m suffering taper madness to the extreme, so I’ll probably cry after I post this.

Reply

1. We found out that I and my 3 year old have strep throat…:(
2. I only drink water out of a water bottle.

You look so happy in your race picture. I usually look like I’m going to die.

I have 1 niece (she’s the oldest and just turned 4) and 2 nephews. They are all my BIL and SIL’s kids so it will be interesting to see if our baby is another boy or if they’ll be another girl. My side doesn’t seem to have any interest in finding anyone let alone having kids.

Actually, my husband and I like the wal-mart brand oreos better than the name brand….way more filling in them and waaaaay cheaper.

Reply

The only race photos I’ve ever bought were after the NYC Half marathon. I had a great “crossing the finish line” one that I had to get. Plus, it was my first half so its special. Other than that, I’ve never bought them because they are so expensive!

Reply

I LOVE that Calvin Harris song!

I have ZERO nieces and nephews and this needs to CHANGE. One brother got married a month ago, the other is getting married next week so hopefully this will change soon.

Are you the last sibling to have kids?

Reply

When do I not crave shrimp? One of my favorite foods. I rarely buy race photos just because of the money but boy have I had some hilarious ones. Looks like a great Tuesday.

Reply

tangent: why do rainbow sprinkles taste better than chocolate ones? i know it’s just the color but i swear the color has a more sophisticated flavor, somehow.
(i had frozen yogurt tonight)

Reply

Oh heyyyy shrimp I looooooove you!

Reply

I’m obsessed with that song! I haven’t had shrimp in forever I need some in my life. It sounds like you have a wonderful weekend planned, have fun! :D

Reply

You’re not going to believe this, but there’s always someone pregnant in my family. I have over 30 nieces and nephews. Just from my siblings. I stopped counting after 30.

Reply

Oh my those cinnamon rolls are looking so good I feel like licking the screen!
I’m usually a sucker for official race photos because they come out very well.

Reply

hey, what is this egg tool? i love hard boiled eggs but am too lazy to actually boil them:)

sorry, those oreos look gross, next time get the mint ones, yummy!

Reply

Tangent – I had my first cheer practice for our 2012-2013 squad, and it was AMAZING. I am incredibly impressed by the girls and guys (17 girls and 5 guys). I can’t wait to see what this season holds!

I just posted my latest seafood meal – crab cake eggs benedict! So good!

When I married Daniel, who is the youngest of SEVEN kids, I inherited FOURTEEN nieces and nephews! I love them all so very much! The oldest one is 20, and the youngest one is 2. There’s never a dull moment, that’s for sure!

Reply

Oh I hope you can do the half on Saturday. Or you can just run the full thing in my spot.

Reply

I have 11 nieces and nephews. They are so fun!! The oldest is my niece who is 20 now. Yikes!

Reply

I think those Oreo’s look gross and I love Oreo’s. You should never mess with a good thing.
I love all seafood! So good.

Reply

We are celebrating our anniversary this weekend too. May 7th is the actual day, which is on Monday…. So I told my hubby we will just have to celebrate all weekend AND on Monday! :)
I have 2 nieces and 6 nephews. My baby makes the 3rd granddaughter.
I love seafood, but it’s better fresh. Which is true for anything, really. Right? Except for maybe pizza… I prefer that cold :) Happy Tuesday! I hope you have a good night!

Reply

I’ve actually been doing all this training just so I can keep up with you when you move here and we can run together all the time. We can take turns pushing the Baby HRG stroller :)

Reply

I’ve only bought rowing race photos. Some of them are really good. Most of my running photos suck :P I have two nieces and 2 nephews…the oldest is 26, I think. I am totally grooving on the elliptical and really wish I could watch MTV while I was on it :)

Reply

ummm, that close-up of the cinnamon rolls is just straight up cruel!! hehe. :)

tangents for my day, my internet is still down at my house and at this point i’m about to just cry myself into a puddle…so now i’m camped out at my folks’ house bumming some wifi…haha!

on the BIG plus, i was able to run the longest time in a long while on my tread after some injury issues…this, obviously trumps anything bad that could happen the rest of the day. :) have a great night!

Reply

I have that same egg timer!

Reply

What is that crazy egg tool? I want one!!

I don’t have any nieces or nephews. Mike and I are the only married ones in both of our families.

Reply

Ahhh hhaha now I want a cinnamon roll. Why do you always do this to me?!

I never BUY race pictures… I just save them from the race website (I love mac for letting me do this haha) then I post it on my blog and Facebook haha. To be fair, I would buy them if they were at all reasonably priced. I’d pay $10 for a digital copy, but $30 is just crazy. They deserve to have me download it for free for being so greedy… That’s my philosophy anyway :-P

Reply

I found TOO many dresses that I liked. And I NEVER wear dresses.
I love shrimp. But that is about the seafood. We had some in St Lucia.
I have no nieces/nephews.
I have bought race photos. But they are typically VERY bad pictures of me.

The Kidless Kronicles

Reply

Love the picture quality! :)

Reply

Ok that is like torture that you can only have ONE cinnamon roll!! I would definitely have to sneak in & take more ;) They always make cookies downstairs in my office building & it smells up ALL of the floors…I walk around with a grumbly tummy because I can’t get the thought of cookies out of my head!

Reply

OK I have that egg thing too but NO Idea how it works exactly…any info would be great….then i could start using the thing instead of guessing lol

I am heading to Newport RI this weekend and plan to eat my weight in fresh seafood!! :)

I have 3 nieces and 4 nephews! My oldest niece is my exact age (28) and is married with 2 kids…crazy!

Reply

Janae. I think we need to run the Eugene Marathon next year. It looks like they had so much fun!
I had seafood yesterday – tuna fish sandwich for lunch :)
I bought the digital photos from my first marathon. Way cheaper than buying the prints. We just printed them off at Target!

Reply

I am totally serious, let’s do the Eugene Marathon together next year…I hope you are serious! Good call on buying the digital photos!

Reply

I’m serious! I’ve already told my parents about it and that they’re going to need to book a hotel for it! haha

Reply

I love the berryburst oreos. Everytime I see them I have to get them. Sooooo good.
One of my favorite snack/desserts lately has been to take a marshmallow and roll it in butter and then cinnamon sugar and then roll it into a crescent roll. You don’t have to roll it like a crescent roll, just cover the marshmallow completely. The cool part is the marshamallow disapears while baking!

Reply

Okay I love almost everything in this post! The Eugene Marathon recaps were amazing! Those girls are so speedy!
I am in love with hard boiled eggs right now too. Calvin Norris, Feel So Close is my jam!

Reply

hahahaha. I did not like the berry burst oreos… double stuf is the way to go. Or even better, get some oreo cakesters!

Reply

, what motivates me at the dseepet level is the knowing that I can do what it is that I’ve set out to do and it will be successful. The short of it is, projects or otherwise, its just a deep down knowing in the core of my being that I will succeed. I know it sounds simplistic, yet its so important. This is one of my biggest motivators. You may not necessarily be able to explain it, but its a feeling that stays with me no matter what else is going on in my life.
