Free Rewards for Exercising….

Tuesdays and Thursdays are officially pump days.  I tried out a new teacher and she was awesome.  She didn’t waste time in between sets, had awesome music and made sure to tell me about any modifications that I should try out.  Before class I hit up a different elliptical than my usual one and my buns were on fire because this one was kind of like a mix of an elliptical and stair climber.

Now that I am working out at the gym at a time that I am actually fully awake I am noticing how everyone has the cutest workout clothes.  I am pretty sure I wanted everything that every girl was wearing in my pump class.  I guess this means one thing…mom, wanna go to the mall?

——————————————

I may do a few more drivers tests this summer but other than that I am OFFICIALLY done with drivers ed for the rest of my life.  I tried not to complain about it while it was still part of my job but now that it isn’t I can complain;) Holy cow, I almost died around 48 times today. My heart rate was around 180 bpm the entire time and my patience was really tested but it is over now  and I am beyond happy about it.

I took a lunch break with Subway and had an egg and ham sandwich, it hit the spot even though it looks like death.

I got done earlier than I thought and so I am now rewarding myself by watching Ellen with my strawberry lemonade that I had (this craving hit hard) to get on my way home from Cafe Rio.

Billy sent me this awesome article about yet another way to motivate yourself to workout:

Free prizes for working out?!?  Done and done.  The website is HERE.

—————————————————-

If you had to pick one…what is your BIGGEST motivation when it comes to working out…what gets you out for that run?

If you could have a free ENDLESS supply of workout clothes or running shoes which one would you choose?

Do you have any set workout classes that you go to each week?

Ahhh that lemonade IS so good. And I can’t believe you even did do driver’s ed…I would be WAY too scared for my life. Haha.

I’d say I’d rather an endless supply of workout clothes…. so much out there that is so awesome! And my biggest motivation to work out is because it makes me HAPPY and makes me feel good. So if I don’t, I have a less than steller day. Not to mention, I get paid to do it, so yah-that’s def a motivator. Hah.

Reply

I think I am the same way…clothes for sure…let’s find a ways to make this happen. Can we go together for the lemonade pretty please:)

I use that machine too!! it’s awesome and really works the buns!! Are you done working, for good??

Reply

As far as teaching goes yep:) PS your 9.5 SPRINTS on the treadmill are crazy fast…way to go Shelly!

That is so awesome that you get rewards like that for working it out, what more do you need for motivation to get healthy?!I do like that machine, but I much prefer the spin bike, my fave form of cross training!! I love workout clothes, and have an obsession with lululemon, too bad its so dang expensive. I think my biggest motivator for working out would be how I feel after (a good mood is way better than my grumpy non endorphined mood)

I think I would have to go with an endless supply of clothes, because, some of them I wear to work. Like the shirts and some light weight pants with pockes. I do a lot of walking and workout clothes are the best way for me.
I have been on Earndit for a bit and my foursquare gym checkins are really the only way I earn points. I dont have my garmin set up for public so I never get to earn points with that.

Teaching driver’s ed would be intense!
I would definitely choose free workout clothes. I don’t just wear them to work out, and some are so nice! Plus, I don’t feel bad spending money on running shoes but I do on clothes!

Reply

I would want an endless supply of running shoes for sure! I’m pretty much the most unpicky person when it comes to workout clothes. Honestly, I’m usually ok working out in a ratty old t-shirt and running shorts.

My biggest motivation for working out is that I like to eat! I feel guilty (even though I know I shouldn’t) if I indulge and haven’t worked out.

Reply

When I workout it is like my favorite parts about myself are on caffeine……..or in other words it is Erica at her best and I like that.

Reply

Working out is the best stress reliever for me!! Spin and turbo kick are my all time favorite classes! Hope you are having an awesome day :)

Reply

Eating is my reward for working out! A good sweat means a glass of wine or piece of chocolate!! Yay!
I would take running shoes forever!!
As far as set workouts, I try to do Stroller Strides. If you don’t have that by you, you should teach it when your baby is here. I can’t say enough about how it has connected me with moms who have similar interests of staying fit after baby!!
Thanks for sharing the earndit!

Honestly, it is how I feel post workout or run, even after the worst day a good run makes it all better!
Shoes, only because I am okay with spending money on clothes but I always feel like I wait till the last minute to get new shoes – not the best idea!
None right now BUT I am trying Crossfit tonight so I might soon.
Okay – you seriously have me craving Subway now! Love the eggs sandwiches there.

I’ve tried that elliptical/stair master thing several times before and it is SO much harder than regular ellipticals! It kicks my behind every time!

Reply

I’ve been using Earndit for a while, but I have never redeemed my points! Thanks for the reminder…I’m going to go see what I can get!

Reply

I love that you aren’t using pregnency as an excuse to skip working out. (Yes, I understand that some preggs people are advised by the dr. to not workout).

My biggest motivation is that I can have my cake and eat it too!

Workout clothes. That stuff adds up a lot quicker than running shoes!

Body Pump:-M,W,Sat. Pole – Tues, and I try to do BodyFlow – Sunday

I think I’d go with endless running shoes ….I feel like the shoes run out faster than the clothes do. I’ve had my under armour and nike clothes over 6 months and they look just like the day I bought them. The shoes, not so much obviously. Then I could also have more shoes at the same time to switch out! And I could satisfy my hunger for cute, obnoxious running shoes.

What always gets me out on a run is reaching my goal (usually a race). When I don’t have a race in site, knowing that I will feel great after my run always gets me out there.

Thanks for the info about earndit. I just signed up!

Ooo, thanks for that link! As for the question, it would be clothes, for sure. I drool every time I get a new Athleta or Title Nine catalog. My shoes are fairly stable, though, I DID get a pair of the Asics Noosa 7’s in the mail just today to try out for awhile. They are so flashy I’m afraid I’ll get kicked out of town!

Reply

I love that machine :)! I would go for an endless supply of running shoes since they are so expensive. I tend to stock up on workout clothes at Target when I’m in the US.

Reply

Yum, Subway…my #1 pregnancy craving! When it comes to working out, I just remind myself that I’ll feel less like a lazy slug if I get off my butt and do it. It mostly works. :)

Reply

My motivation is how much I LOVE being able to run! And the whole marathon training thing starting next week… haha.

Reply

So happy you made it through the day alive!!!

I would have to go with the clothes over the shoes. Shoes I can justify buying, clothes are a bit harder since I don’t ‘need’ them. I don’t think anyone ever got injured from wearing old clothes;-)

I LOVE the ARC trainer–it was my #1 pal the last month of my pregnancy.

I love The Ellen Show! She is hilarious. My best friend and I actually wrote a parody of one of Taylor Swift’s songs for her. We sent the video of us singing it to her, but haven’t heard back yet :( We’re not giving up though! You can watch it if you want…. ;) (and those are not our real singing voices…maybe. hehe) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3WROUYKmudM&feature=g-upl

Tuesday & Thursday are my BodyPump days too!! I love that elliptical/ stairclimber looking gym machines. It does light my tush on fire, but I feel like I get a really good workout from it!!
Have you tried the new berry chiller from McDonalds? Every forum I have read on The Bump.com has been talking about that drink. A bunch of ladies on there apparently have major cravings for it…didn’t know if you have tried it yet. I think I may have to this weekend :)

Very nice! All signed up for the site!

Love that machine!! Its my go-to cross training machine. I think I would have to pick workout clothes since they are much more exciting and I wear them over regular clothes whenever I can. I always go to Body Pump on Wednesdays and Saturdays!

Reply

What gets me out for that run is telling myself that 1)I really want to do well in my upcoming race (even if the race is like 5 months away!) 2) I will feel so much better afterword and 3) thinking of that brownie I recently ate or will eat later :)

Workout clothes for sure!!!!! I only need a few shoes but i have a serious problem with workout clothes. I buy too many. It’s a serious issue. I go shopping and my friends buy normal clothes and I end up buying workout clothes. eeek!

I love love love cardio kickboxing!!! I never miss a class! Ever!!! Ok i do sometimes …when I have to have to like there is no way out have to.

Definitely checking out that rewards website!

I don’t know how you taught driver’s ed without having a heart attack! I definitely wouldn’t have wanted to be in the car the first time I tried driving it :-)

Reply

An endless supply of Lululemon workout clothes please :) Drivers Ed – if they were anything like me I couldn’t handle it.

Reply

Working out is such a massive part of my life (and it’s my career) that I don’t have to convince myself to do it. I MUST sweat twice a day or else I’m psycho. I will say that the endorphins and money is a nice benefit!
I would take the endless supply of Nike shoes. I go through them every 6-8 wks. Yikes!
I don’t know how you did Drivers Ed for so long. It stresses me out just watching the other teachers at my school do it. I’m glad it’s over for you.

Reply

I go to all my own classes haha, which is 6 per week. I need to find a good yoga class to attend this summer!

I think I would choose the workout clothes, but I do love shoes so much!

Reply

ahh–that website is awesome! Thanks for sharing!

did you clean? your living room looks really tidy! :) totally being serious. I have so many clothing items from my time at lululemon so I’d probably pick running shoes. my biggest motivation to get out and run in the morning is to start the day with some “me time” and clear my head for the day ahead!

Reply

Haha you’re just like me! I get so mad when the teachers waste time between sets. I feel like a jerk but I sometimes have to add my own sets in the down time.

I love workout clothes and try to wear them alllll the time. It’s my goal in life to make workout clothes my everyday clothes. It’s going well so far!

Excellent find, Billy!

What kind of spin bike and treadmill do you have? I know you’ve posted it before but now I can’t find it. Thanks!

Reply

Hey you!!! Our treadmill is a Nordic track c900 and here is the link to the spin bike from my gear page:)

Thanks! I figure any machine that can endure the beatings you put them through can handle my wimpy workouts. That treadmill looks awesome!

Hahhaa yeah right you are hardcore!

Ooh, that’s a tough call! I have a lot of Nike running shorts in a bunch of crazy colors and patterns, so I guess I’d choose endless shoes over clothes. I’m currently coveting the Saucony Kinvara 3’s in Blue/Red/White!

I’m currently participating in the Runner’s World Summer Run Streak, so that’s keeping me motivated. Other than that, I’ve signed up to run a few races with myTEAM TRIUMPH Wisconsin, which is an athletic ride along program for individuals with disabilities. It’s so rewarding to see how much these runs mean to these individuals and their families!

You should look into the GymPact app — I have made close to $20 with it in just 3 months! All you do is sign up, connect a credit card to your account, place a wager on yourself (ie, going to the gym 3x/week) and then it uses your phone’s GPS and you check into and out of a gym. Workouts have to last at least 30 minutes and home gyms/apartment gyms don’t count (yet). I think there are plans to have a way to track outdoor runs but for now it is just the gym. The first time you check into a gym it uses your coordinates/the internet to verify it is a gym and you’re set. If you don’t make your pact, it charges your card whatever you wagered (bet $10 and missed 2 sessions? you’re charged $20). BUT, if you make your pact, it rewards you by divvying up all the money from those who didn’t make their pact and paying you proportionally. I was making $3-4 a week, but it adds up! It pays you through Paypal, so assuming you always make your pact, your credit card is never touched. It is super awesome!

I’ve started saving my iced coffees for after my runs- now that’s what you call motivation to get up and run! As corny as it sounds, knowing how great I’ll feel afterwards (and hopefully during) tends to do the trick.

The earndit website is so awesome. Thanks for sharing!

YAY and CONGRATS for being done with work and Driver’s Ed…I hope you get to enjoy lots of relaxing before baby girl arrives!
You were on the Arc-Trainer at the gym <–my favorite cardio machine!
RACING keeps me motivated :)
I honestly cannot decide between running clothes OR shoes, both are love!!
I hope you have a great weekend ahead of you!
xoxo!!

I try to hit pilates and yoga every week.

A strawberry lemonade sounds perfect! I’ve been sitting outside the last couple of hours watching my daughter’s softball game. It was in the 90’s.

Reply

i love that machine! i use it only in the winter though when I can’t run outside. I can’t really run on treadmills because the impact hurts my knees too much. it is definitely a buns killer!

Reply

Workout clothes! The shoes are not that important to me as long as the do what they are suppose to I don’t care if they’re adorable as long as they aren’t hideous! Clothes though you could just keep those coming!

Reply

I am religious about my classes and my teachers. I’ve been going to the same gym for 5 1/2 years and I finally have it down to a science.
Running shoes for sure. They are so much more expensive than running clothes, though I did just break the bank for a new sports bra.

Will have to check it out. Thanks!

Yesterday, I made my friend Kara motivate me to run because I was so lazy. Usually, amazing weather or having too much energy gets me out there and moving.

I’d totally take an endless supply of running clothes, specifically from Brooks. I got to see some of the 2012 line the other day. Soo excited!

Reply

My motivation is that I know I will be SUPER hard on myself later if I don’t workout… so if I skip it, I know that around 4 p.m. I will be hating on me for skipping it. This sounds horrible, I’m only mean to myself though.

Running for giftcards?!?! Heck YES! Even more reason to stick to my June running STREAK! Talked about it in my post last night! Last time I went to the gym, I used an elliptical thing your talking about and it KILLED my butt! Those are the best workouts tho! A little work goes a long way!

Reply

Hands down an endless supply of workout clothes from lululemon is the only way to go! PLUS – they are so comfy and stylish you can wear them outside the gym too! I’m flying to Portland, Boulder and Santa Monica at the end of June from Australia – any chance you will be near any of those cities around that time? Would love to catch up with you in person – and may be have to bring you some treats from Down Under xxx
