Billy wants to name our baby Bolt

I took 198 photos at the track meet today.  I was in running paradise and wanted to capture every move they made.

Miles Batty (above) didn’t quite hit his sub 4 minute mile yesterday:(  He ran 4:04…..so close!! The only other man to run a sub 4 in Utah was there announcing which was pretty awesome.  Miles you WILL get that sub 4 in Utah, until then just tell people about your 3:54 mile indoor track NCAA record.

PS do you think his parents named him Miles because they thought he would be speedy?  Billy now wants to name our child Bolt or Flash so that she will be speedy.

My stride looks just like them;)

Have you ever done hurdles?  I can’t even imagine, I can only jump about 6 inches off of the ground.

DSC 0598

Of course I had to throw in a picture of us too.

We started our morning off with a gym trip together and she convinced me to do a full 20 minutes of weights and after that we hit up the elliptical.  Don’t our Subway sandwiches that we had for lunch look just like the pictures that they use in advertisements?  I had the Forest Ham and Billy had the new BBQ Chicken, both were heavenly and I know that because I always have to try what he gets too.

After the track meet we went to the mall because my mom wanted to start buying baby clothes.  I thought that since mine will be her 15th grand child that she wouldn’t be as excited as she is about all of the baby stuff….it must be because I am by far her favorite child.

Have you tried Chick-Fil-A’s diet lemonade?  It really is the best thing in existence.  Here is what you do (if you have one in your mall food court) get a drink at the beginning, walk around for 9 minutes and go back and get a refill.  Repeat until you are going to explode. The guy even upgraded the cup to a bigger size for me after my 3rd visit:)   $1.50 for a gallon of lemonade and no sleep because my bladder will be eternally full.

After the mall we went and saw This Means War with all of my favorite snacks.  Reese Witherspoon is pretty much the cutest actress ever.

Now I am typing this and trying to decide what to have for dinner at 9:30 pm.  Options: baked potato, cereal, pancakes or a salad.  I bet 99% of you know what I will choose.  Hope you are having a great night and I will see you tomorrow!

Watching all of the track events made me super excited for the Summer Olympics!  Which do you prefer watching more…the Summer or Winter Olympics?  What are some of your favorite events to watch?

What are three of your easy/fast go to meals when you don’t have a lot of time to make dinner?

Would you rather break a 4 minute mile or a 2:20 marathon?

Have you ever ran a race at a different altitude than what you are used to?  Did you notice a big difference?

Hey! First time to comment on your awesome blog! Hmmm I think Bolt is kinda cute for a name :P Summer Olympics has my heart for the athletics..but the Winter Olympics is so darn mesmerizing! One of the last races I did we changed altitude drastically during the race! (It was a mountain running race and I swear it got harder to breathe at the top). Or was that just me?? ;p

Oooh, Dash like in The Incredibles ;)

15th grandchild? wow!

Hurdles amaze me so much…I can’t even imagine!

Your movie tickets were $2 and $1.25?!?!?! I love Reese! And I’m hoping you went with baked potato for dinner!

Oh my gosh I am SOOOOO excited for the Summer Olympics! I have been going on and on about how I am going to plant myself in front of the TV all summer (well, when I’m not working or doing schoolwork) so that I can soak up all the awesomeness. I think I prefer the Sumer Olympics because it has all of the track and field options, plus gymnastics, and swimming/diving. When I was little I told my mom I wanted to be an olympic diver when I grew up. She said no :( In her defense, I can’t swim lol!!!!

summer olympics are my fave and i love watching the track evebts.

my fast go-to meal is always a salad. i just throw everything from my fridge into a bowl of lettuce and drown it in dressing and viola!

i would rather break a 2:20 marathon because distance running is my thing. i’m not a sprinter at all!

Hmm… I love Summer Olympics, because I love running (duh) and the swimming is pretty awesome too. But, I love speed skating, figure skating, and ice hockey… Ugh. I just love the Olympics! LOL

Hi Janae
I simply must know right now how you and your sister get your hair to look so great. You both have these luscious curls in every shot, how do you do it??
BTW I have been following your blog ever since I started training for my first half which is next Sunday. Your blog has inspired me SO much, thank you for your love for running, it is contagious!!

We watch it all!

Those pics of the runners and their amazing stride makes me feel a) inspired to have a check-in on my posture and b) a little embarrassed cause I know my stride resembles Quasimodo more than Miles!

I have never done hurdles cause you KNOW I would catch a toe on those things and fly into the ground face first. I do that on my own without the help of any objects to jump over, thank you very much!

Reply

i’d def go with the 2:20 marathon…at that point i’d be sneaking my way closer to an american record. ;) that said, i guess if i were a girl and ran a 4:04 i’d have a world record….lol.

great job to Miles, he’s got more opp’s to go sub-4 AND he should get his tush down to sea level.

and i notice a BIG diff. any time i run at higher altitudes, i’m left sucking some major wind…hehe. have a great night!

Ok….here’s a very random question….I love your sister’s hair! What products does she use?? I think I have very similar hair and always wonder what other girls with wavy hair use. I’m not a stalker, I promise, haha!!

I havent been reading blogs for about a week due to a busy schedule, did you guys find out the sex of your babe??? You did mention “she”…

Reply

Yep. Check the HRG Baby section.

Honestly, I don’t think I could ever jump over a hurdle no matter how hard I tried. Even when I run my feet stay pretty close to the ground! And Bolt? Haha isn’t that some cartoon dog? Maybe name her after a famous runner or something… hahaha. Have a great Sunday, Janae!

Summer Olympics, hands down! I was a hurdler in high school and it’s my favorite event to watch, along with the jumpers!

Reply

The scenery in your pictures is amazing! I saw that movie a few weeks ago and it was pretty cute… except I had to sit in the very front row! Yuck!

Reply

$2 for a movie, that is amazing!

I am so excited for the summer Olympics. Swimming if my fav.

I say you cut a deal: If you give birth to a Jack Russell Terrier, you name it Bolt, and if it’s a human girl, you name it Clara (or, you know, not Bolt).

I did track for one year so I could have an extra season of sports with my basketball girls (I hated running! Can you believe it?). I was actually wicked good at high jump, to the astonishment of the world.

Reply

Haha, I did hurdles all through middle school and a part of high school and i had SO MANY crashes on those things! It wasn’t as bad in outdoor track, but the indoor track floor was more slippery or something and the slightest tap would send those suckers flying. Definitely no bueno! :)

Utah has to be the prettiest place in the world, it must be really amazing to run somewhere so gorgeous :) I think Bolt is a good name, she’d be a little speedster! I think she might be a little speedster anyway, between you & Billy.

PS I’m so jealous of your sister’s beautiful hair, why doesnt mine look like that??

Also – I’ve been DYING for some Lemonade for the past 3 weeks 100% because you keep posting pictures of it and FINALLY found some at Boston Pizza yesterday!!

Reply

I didn’t know Chick Fil A had diet lemonade!! I always get their lemonade, but I never asked for the diet kind. Do they have 2 different kinds … diet and regular?? Or is it all diet? Very interesting!! ;)

Reply

4 minute mile… gosh that’s so fast! That’s crazy a person could run that fast.
I bet it was inspirational to be there watching other people run :)
I would rather break 2:20!

Reply

I did hurdles for what feels like my whole life! I started running them at 11 and ran all through highschool both 300 meter hurdles and 100 meter hurdles and went on to run them in college as well. I actually never fell while running but I am tall so I think that helps. In college the 400 meter hurdles were the hardest race in track i think or maybe the 800!?

Reply

Look at those mountains in the background. Whoa how gorgeous is that?! Love it.

I love the summer olympics, especially the gymnastics, swimming, and the running of course. :)

Firstly I’d like to run a marathon in general and then I’d prefer a sub 2:20 marathon to a sub 4 minute mile. 4 minute mile is insane!

Reply

Was your movie ticket only $2.00??

Reply

hands down 2:20 marathon

I love the movie Bolt :)

Reply

Um, all of the Olympics make me excited. I”m already planning my opening ceremonies party. I’m the biggest Olympics nerd around and will watch anything, usually while chanting U.S.A., U.S.A. I super love gymnastics (I’ve never gotten over my desire to be Mary Lou Retton and am still holding out hope), diving, and swimming, track and field, beach volleyball, etc.
Do Multi-Grain Cheerios count as a meal?

Reply

I think I’d rather break a 2:20 marathon! The movies by you are soo inexpensive! On a weekend here, movies are about $10! Crazy, right?

Reply

I’m guessing you chose a salad!! Am I right, am I???

Reply

Did you watch the Penn Relays yesterday? Those people blow me away with their speed. I think you should definitely name your child something speedy.

I live in Michigan and I grew up in Wyoming- so when I go home (to Wyo.) to visit I TOTALLY feel the elevation change. I am winded when I run and don’t have the stamina I usually do in Michigan. It takes me about 4-5 days to get used to the elevation change.

Reply

I love the summer olympics.. Swimming, gymnastics, and diving especially.. but really I just love it all! I have been watching and researching everything I can about the athletes of this years games (Because I’m the biggest dork in the world I swear)
Bolt would def be an interesting name! hah

Reply

2:20 marathon for sure.

french toast, fried egg sandwich, grilled cheese, frozen pizza.

Summer olympics hands down……except for the pairs ice skating.

Happy Sunday.

Our favorite Olympics are the winter ones–my husband tried out for the 2002 and 2010 Olympic biathlon team (sadly, he came close but didn’t make the 4-person team). In fact, he lived in Utah for quite awhile in 2001-2 while training, right near the biathlon venue in Heber.
We both enjoy training at higher altitude, then going down to lower for races. Your lungs feel like they could go forever! I did both of my marathons down in San Antonio just to take advantage of that.
Oh, and my favorite go-to meal is tacos or tortilla pie, which we happen to be having tonight!

Reply

15th grandchild???? That’s amazing – what a lucky little girl to have such a huge and loving family! How about naming her “Dash” (from the Incredibles!)? ;)

Reply

I know a couple people named Miles. I like Bolt but kind of sounds like a dogs names especially flash…. What about Pacer?! ha Pace for short. I like it. :)

Reply

I’d have to go with a sub 2:20 marathon and the winter olympics. Downhill skiing, snowboarding and curling, how can you beat that? But the best is the T&F World Championships. We went to the last day of events in Berlin 2009 and saw the Women’s Marathon. Awesome event in an awesome city!

Reply

I can’t even fathom a 4 minute mile…that is truly amazing!

I think you should name your baby Speedy Milly Janilly Jacobs. :)

Reply

I ran 200 meter hurdles in middle school and loved them! I ended up falling one time in practice though and couldn’t get over the fear. I never ran that event again which was fine with me. There were plenty of other events to choose from!

I’d much rather run a 2:20 marathon. That would be incredible.

Reply

Summer Olympics!!! I love to watch swimming, beach volleyball, track & field events, the marathon and gymnstics.

Cereal, pasta w/ jar tomato sauce, order a $5 pizza

2:20 marathon. I am in love with distance running.

Reply

Did you like This Means War? I meant to go see it and never made it!

Reply

How inspiring! I LOVE LOVE LOVE track meets!

Yes, on Bolt! Or…maybe that can be your dog’s name and you can nickname lil Janilly “tempo” or “threshold”! kidding!

Wow! 15 grandchildren!!

Reply

I love Chick-fil-A lemonade, but I can’t do the diet lemonade. Got a headache every time I drank it and finally figured out why . . . Splenda!

So, it’s straight sugar goodness for me.

Reply

Summer! Can’t wait for London this year. Swimming, women’s gymnastics, 100 meter dash and diving. And YES on naming your baby girl Bolt. Do it.
