22 Weeks and loving it.

You are probably beyond sick of hearing about this part of my pregnancy but the below picture describes the hardest part about pregnancy for me this trimester and I hear it even gets worse.

Screen Shot 2012 04 18 at 9 21 38 PM

Above scene occurs at least every 75 minutes throughout the night for me.

Here is the belly shot.

What has been going on lately:

-Running is still going great.  I feel strong and healthy.  I think a little padding on my bones is actually doing a lot of good in terms of injuries and recovery.  I am averaging about 40-45 miles a week.

-I have started to have a little bit of insomnia.  I wake up at about 3:45 and have a really hard time falling asleep again.  I don’t think I can blame it on being pregnant but rather on the fact that I take 2 hour naps everyday.  It is in fact possible to get too much sleep.

-The two true cravings that I have had throughout the entire pregnancy so far are donuts and cheese.  I may have actually gotten upset with a student for eating a donut in front of me but then followed my anger by offering her as much extra credit as she wants if she was to give me one.  Even just typing the word donut makes me want one really bad.

-I haven’t cried or been emotional ALL week, this is a huge milestone.  I do have 48 more hours until the end of the week though, there could definitely be an explosion of tears between now and then.

-6 more days until we find out the sex!  I can’t wait to go blow our savings on cute clothes;)  I am kidding Billy, you don’t have to take my credit cards away.

-I am starting to stress out a little bit with the timing of everything.  Billy graduates BYU in August and also starts law school in August which means we will be moving the same month that I am due?!?! Hmmmm….I guess everything works out in the end right?!  Please say yes:)

So exciting! Can’t wait to hear what the sex will be!

Reply

I think moving at that time will be perfect timing. No one will expect you to help with anything! ;-)

Reply

I agree you’re gonna have to leave it up to Billy!

Reply

You two are BRILLIANT!! Muhahha…I will just be on the couch watching tv during the move:)

Soo many exciting things happening for you!!!

Insomnia usually starts around 5 months in preparation of all the sleepless nights ahead…. Enjoy your sleep

We didn’t have to move but my husband was asked to go on a long mountain bike ride an hour from where we live and didn’t want to go because he was afraid I’d go into labor. I urged him to go so he was only a little surprised when I called and told him to come home because I was being induced in an hour ;)

Reply

What a good wife for sending him to go and thank goodness for cell phones so that you could call him!

Oh and you look great and everything will workout

I am a long-time stalker of your blog, and have decided to, “Come out of the closet,” if you will.

I moved during my last pregnancy about 3 weeks before my due date (also the end of August, but two years ago). We had been living/working on a farm all summer, and I decided to move back to where my husband would be attending school in the fall. I went into labor and called my husband, who was still living on the farm, two hours away. He walked into the delivery room 10 minutes after our second daughter was born. It was crazy and fast, but it doesn’t matter what ends up happening, because you’ll have a perfect baby at the end and won’t care about the rest!

Also, you really won’t have to help with anything, which is nice . . .

Good luck! You are an inspiration and I can’t wait to try and keep up running with my next pregnancy. Hopefully it helps with the nausea for me, because I’m generally sick for 9 months when pregnant. When I read that it helped you, I had hope!

Reply

KELSEY!! Thank you for coming out of the closet, hahahah. AHHH Your story is crazy, he just barely missed it! WOW! You are right, I will just get to kick back ha. NINE MONTHS of nausea….I seriously can’t even imagine! You deserve a medal.

Reply

Janae! I have had serious insomnia too!! The worst for me is that when I wake up to go to the lady’s room I come back wide awake! It’s a serious problem. I didn’t have work today so I was looking forward to sleeping in, but of course my body is up at 6 am. Love it.

Also, I am moving a couple months before I’m due too. I guess we’ll just have to let other people do the hard stuff for us :)

P.S. When are you coming to AZ? We want to see you guys before we move out east!

Reply

WHAT?!?!?! You are moving east? I am coming in June…will you still be there? I am seriously so so happy for you guys. I wish we lived by each other so we could eat donuts together and talk about babies all day. I feel your pain. I come back from the going potty wide awake and it drives me crazy and I can’t stop thinking. Where are you working now?

Reply

Oh, the pregnancy insomnia! Not fun. See, you really need those naps now.

We moved into our new apartment 3 weeks before kid #2. We had renovated the kitchen before moving in, and I was excitedly checking it all out when I realized the faucets and sinks were just too far away from the edge of the counter. I burst into tears because I had designed this useless kitchen, and then my husband gently pointed out that it was just my huge stomach making me stand too far away from the counter.

The kitchen is great, pregnancy makes you crazy. :-)

Reply

3 weeks before….wow. Oh my goodness, I totally would have started crying and throwing a fit:) Good thing for our logical husbands!

Reply

Nice bump!!! We confirmed the gender of our baby yesterday!!! She could also see at 12 weeks what it was…but we made it officially! I hope those 6 days come quickly ;)

Reply

AHHH I am beyond excited for your little boy!

Reply

Janae, please don’t be stressed out about your circumstances. I can’t imagine anyone having a bigger support system than you!!! Obviously the situation is not ideal, but no matter the time, date, or place that it happens, you and your husband are going to have a baby!!! Ahhhhh cheesiest comment ever.

Reply

Brandy, you are so so right! We are so lucky to have so much family to help out and cheesy comments are my favorite!

Reply

Definitely insomnia and that need-to-pee-but-really-comfortable thing.

It DOES all work out. No weird timing except a cross-country plane flight for a family wedding when my second was 10 days old. And that my fourth was due on my third’s birthday. My third told me that he needed to be four BEFORE the baby came. Ummmm…like I could control that? She was very cooperative and was born the day AFTER he turned four :)

You look amazing and so totally happy!

Reply

HEY YOU! Thank you so much. You flew across the country with a 10 day old? WOW! Ha, yeah…not something you can really control. Hope you are having an amazing day with your beautiful family!

Reply

You are the CUTEST pregnant girl ever! That is all.

Reply

Ahhh thanks:)

Reply

Of course it will work in the end…you have amazing familly who will support you – and its good to have a good plan, but I have learned one thing while having kids: you should never try too hard to stick with a schedule/plan, whatever. My son was born 3 weeks earlier (which is unusual with first kids, so it is totally not happening to you) and since that moment no schedule worked 100%.
I think you will have a boy…bet! Start buying those dinosaurs, dragons, cars and pirates … you will bloody need them!

Reply

HAHAHA I am starting to think I am having a boy too. You are right…you really can’t have concrete plans with kids. Hope you are having an amazing day!

Reply

Regarding the moving… if anything, take comfort in knowing that you won’t have to do that much if you take advantage of being the pregnant lady :-)

Reply

I agree with this comment. ;) And like someone else said, you have a great support system … I’m sure they’ll help however they can!! :)

Reply

HAHAHA You guys are so right. I will just kick back and drink lemonade while everyone does the hard stuff. Have an amazing day Katie and Kristen!

Reply

So fun… can’t wait to learn what you are having!! It made it ALL more real to me once I learned we were having a baby girl. Something about knowing the sex (to me) just makes the bonding that much more special. I am 38 weeks today and unfortunately the insomnia does not get any better!! I wake up at least 3x a night to pee and try to get comfortable. Then I am usually awake for good by 5am. Oh well… guess it is just our body prepping us for the task of newborn care. :)

Reply

AHHH You just made me even more excited. You are so so close Brittnie, I can’t wait for you. I sure hope you get a little more sleep over the next few weeks!

Reply

I’ve got some interesting logistics ahead of me when my baby is born. See, I actually live in Africa, but am in Utah to have the baby. This means I have to coordinate shipping all of my baby stuff there, which means I’m likely to be baby gear-less for a month or so, to make sure my stuff makes it to Africa before the baby and I do. It’s giving me anxiety.

Luckily your family lives here, so I’ll bet you will get to chill at your parents house while everyone else slaves away with the moving aspect of things. Being pregnant/having a newborn is an excellent way to get out of doing anything! :)

Reply

I couldn’t help but comment because that sounds stressful! But if it makes you feel any better, after having 3 kids, I’ve learned that it’s amazing how little you actually need with a newborn! Diapers;). Good luck!:)

Reply

WOW!! Anne, your situation is VERY interesting. When are you due? I seriously can’t imagine. Anything I can do to help. You are so right, I will just chilax at the parents house and eat donuts ha. Keep me updated Anne!

Reply

Everything always works out in the end, I promise! The world will not stop turning and you will have a beautiful new baby in your arms. :)

Do you have names picked out yet????

Reply

Thanks Alyssa!! You are so right. We haven’t even started to think about names, I think we are going to wait until we know the gender:) Have a great day!

Reply

It all works out! My friend’s husband got fired and rehired a month before her due date and they moved from Orlando to San Diego, luckily her baby waited!! Can’t wait to hear if it’s a boy or girl!

Reply

Um WOW!! Thank you for telling me about your friend, that gives me more hope that I can totally do this!

Reply

You’re so inspiring! Running 40 – 45 miles while pregnant? You rock!

Everything does work out how it’s supposed to; just roll with it :)

Thanks Leanne….I think I am just crazy!

I love these posts! You look so cute and I love your shirt with the anchor on it!
I crave donuts all the time, and I’m not even pregnant. Hope your insomnia gets better!

Thanks so much Heather. You deserve a donut right now!!! Excited about your giveaway!

You’re going to have an insane August! But just think, then you’ll have everything out of the way so you can settle down with the baby.

Reply

You are so right Kari…can’t wait!

We are *hoping* that we have to move before the baby is born. We live in CT right now and both our families live in PA. Just need some job offers and we’ll be all set! If only it were that easy!!

I currently crave cottage cheese with pita chips for dipping or cereal all the time. I think you got me started on the cottage cheese :)

Reply

Oh Lauren, I am hoping you hear back ASAP about the jobs so that you can get closer to family. Keep me updated and I am SO happy you are loving cottage cheese right now:)

Everything will work out! My only timing issue was that my first came 4 weeks early, same with my second…but with my first I felt a bit crampy at just under 36 weeks and had them check me but i had to go to the hospital because it was on the weekend. turns out I had a tiny tear and my fluid was in fact leaking, tmi, sorry:-/ so they wouldn’t let me leave and said they had to induce me because of the timing and risk of infection. I was like, no! I’m not ready! I have to clean and go grocery shopping! They didn’t care and she was born that night, 5lb 4oz :) But it all works out exactly the way it should even if it seems crazy at first:)

Reply

4 weeks EARLY! Wow…that is scary! Ha I love that you were worried about the cleaning and shopping:)

Reply

You are a woman who thrives in a challenge. I think you will surprise yourself just how seamless you’ll make it through the August changes.

Reply

You are so right Erica. THANK YOU!! How the heck are you? I am expecting an email soon:)

Reply

My brother-in-law is in the coast guard, and the timing worked out so that my sister had twins in mid-May and moved from Wisconsin to Maine the first of July. I helped her on the plane with the babies while her husband drove a trailer/vehicles. It was so crazy flying with 6 week old twins that I actually left my carry on suitcase at the gate. They had to call me over the airport intercom to come back and pick it up. And I have been flying solo with my daughter since she was 7 weeks old! But my sister is now a super pro at traveling by herself with two babies.

Reply

WOW!!! That is so nice that you helped her on the plane…I seriously can’t imagine having twins and MOVING so far a few weeks over. Glad you got your suitcase:)

Ugg, insomnia. I am not looking forward to that. So far I can still sleep pretty easily (I am 20 weeks). My mom made me a version of the snoogle (or whatever you call that crazy big pillow) and I use it religiously. It really helps me sleep. That and the fact that I am so exhausted every day – I could probably use a few more hours of sleep each night anyway.

I am not moving the month of my due date but I’m moving about two months before my due date. I am a bit stressed too. Do you have a doctor lined up if you end up giving birth in your new location? If it makes you feel better my mom had to move from Texas to Greece the end of March and I was born 5 weeks later (my parents were in the military). I know it was a long time ago, but still – she ended up giving birth in a tiny Greek clinic on Crete! When I was born our stuff was still on a ship somewhere so my crib was a dresser drawer padded with blankets. Good thing I was tiny! Everything worked out though and I’m sure it will for you too!

Reply

I am so happy you are still sleeping really good. A SNOOGLE, I need to get myself one of those. 2 months before?!? I don’t have a doc lined up…I should probably do that. WOW, your mom is incredible..she gives me a lot of hope!

Reply

It will work out!! It’ll be a LOT of change all at once… but, you’re capable of dealing with WAY more than you think you are. And, you’re never given more than you can handle. Have faith in yourself and Billy! You guys are gonna do GREAT!!

Reply

Thanks Meagan, I loved your comment. Good thing Billy is a great mover ha!

Reply

Everything will work out… and, remember, as much as you want to decorate a baby’s room and be “settled” in your new home, as long as the baby has a place to sleep, that’s all you need for the first few months.

I’ll be 32 weeks tomorrow… I take tylenol pm every single night to help me sleep! (my dr approved it, ask yours if they do too!)

Reply

You are so right….the baby will just need a nice little bed and lots of love…who needs a nursery right away:) 32 weeks wahoooooo!! I am totally going to ask my doctor about tylenol pm…thank you!

Reply

You look so cute! I’m impressed you can run that much a week. I’m happy run/walking 15. I’m up constantly peeing too and then it takes an hour to get to sleep. No fun!

Reply

Angie, 15 is AWESOME!!! I just don’t have a life. Yep, the peeing and then being wide awake is not the funnest thing in the world. Keep me updated with how you are doing!

Reply

My sister was born the day we moved into a new house! Now we always remember how long we’ve lived in that house :)

THE SAME DAY!!! WOW!!!

I love reading your pregnancy posts! What a cute lil belly :)

Typing donut makes me want want really badly too, only I’m not pregnant lol.

Thanks so much Caitlin. Seriously, donuts are just plain old amazing. I can’t get enough!

Reply

Of course it will all be alright in the end! The family I nanny for had to move during month 9 and everyone survived! I am SO excited for you and billy!! I’ve been away from the blog world for awhile and I come back to see this amazing news!! There’s this Chinese birth chart that is apparently 80% accurate, it’s fun just to see if it’s right or not. Either way you guys are going to be such great parents!

The insomnia is preparing you for being up in the middle of the night…at least that’s what I’ve told myself with my first and this last pregnancy. I mean, somehow your body just knows that it needs to be up at least 2-3 times in the night so you’re prepped for the first couple months of that precious babes life! Totally normal!
Have a fun race!

Reply

Now that isn’t fair…shouldn’t we be able to build up on sleep now so that when the baby comes we are fully rested ha:) Thanks Liz and have a great weekend!

Reply

you are the cutest lil pregger lady I ever did see!

Reply

Kelsey, thank you so much!

Reply

My first thought when reading about the whole move situation is that your family is amazing/supportive and they’ll help you out a ton so don’t stress. Easier said than done, I know, but it will all work out :)

Reply

Laura, you are totally right! Thank you so much for your comment! I will just sit back while they move for me ha:)

Reply

So cute. I love that you are enjoying it. I think being pregnant is the best and it is so fun to see other people enjoy it as well.

You guys are young and energetic, you will get thru it just fine. It will seem hectic and crazy but just remember all the baby needs is you two in the beginning. Don’t stress over all the gear, perfectly decorated room, piles of neatly folded clothes…stuff…it’s all just stuff. Get thru your move, enjoy the baby and the rest will fall into place.

Reply

That will be such an exciting time- graduation, move, and baby! I can’t wait to hear all about it.

Reply

My parents moved, my dad graduated med school and started a fellowship in a new town, and my brother was born all in the same month!!
And then several years later, my mom had 2 little kids and my parents were building a new house and she had a baby the same month as the house was being finished! And they were living in a too small condo at the time with all the little ones :)
YOU CAN DO IT!!!! Don’t stress because God works in mysterious ways, for sure!

Reply

You are such an inspiration to me! I can’t believe you are running as much as you are at 22 weeks and that you’re running a half this weekend! I hope I’m as in shape as you during my future pregnancy and I don’t become a lazy bum lol.

Reply

don’t feel stressed my friend!! like you said, it’ll all work out perfectly i’m sure. :) was this a surprise pregnancy for you?

Reply

You are right! Yep, definitely but the best surprise ever!

Reply

Look at your little baby bump! I remember finding out the gender for both kiddies, and that made it SUPER real! How exciting for you!
The pee thing, for me, is still happening, and mine are 3 and 5!

Reply

I think the fact that you are having insomnia can be a good thing in the end. It’s your bodies way of preparing your for sleepless nights with a new born. And as horrible as that may seem it isn’t :) I was ready to hold a sweet baby all night rather than be incredibly uncomforable. I guess you really aren’t to that point yet but I think it’s all to prepare us for what’s coming. You look so good! I can’t wait to hear what you are having :)

Reply

Everything will work out!! I can’t wait to find out the sex of your baby too!!

Reply

Wahoo!! yah for finding out soon!

And yes, everything always works out perfectly in the end :) God is good!

Reply

I totally feel you on the stressful August thing. We just have to keep telling ourselves it will all work out. And it will for you guys also! Do you know where your going now?!

I am going to guess GIRL, I can’t wait to hear the real results!

I don’t have insomnia but I definitely don’t sleep as good. Probably because I wake up wanting to roll over onto my stomach and can’t haha.

Reply

No insomnia for me. I have a funny story though…

We were moving pretty much the week before I was due with our 2nd little girl. The one out of my tummy was almost 2 and so I was taking care of her, trying to help pack when the hubby was at work, go through my first semester of online classes of my Master’s program, AND being 39 weeks preggo. We only had 1 car at the time and so the day we switched the utilities over I had the car so I could move the food over from one place to the other, it was a local move. The 2 year old and I were going to pick up the hubby from work at 8:30 that night, it’s a 30 minute drive. As soon as we got there and sat down in the hubby’s office my WATER BROKE! Good thing that we used the hospital in that town and I hadn’t taken my bag out of the car! When I came home 2 days later the hubby had gotten a lot of boxes unpacked but there were still boxes everywhere! Don’t worry, everything will be fine!

Reply

A 2 year old, 39 weeks pregnant and MOVING…I cannot even imagine Holly. I am coming to you when I start freaking out about things because you had it way worse!

Reply

It’s funny, I can nap like a son of a gun but when it comes to sleeping I am tossing and turning all the time. Thank goodness for my Snoogle pillow, it makes sleeping way more comfortable – have you heard of it?

We haven’t had to move but because we live in a rural area my midwives and the hospital is a two-hour drive away. It made for an interesting drive with our first and the baby arrived an hour after we got to the hospital :)

Reply

I love hearing about your baby updates. I found out recently that I’m pregnant, too so it’s comforting to read about what you’re going through. Right now as I type this, I am on my second donut of the morning. I need to stop!! All I’ve been craving is junk. I need veggies in my life but I hate them. How do you get all your essential nutrients?

Reply

I moved literally the day after I came home from the hospital when I had my second baby. The best part is nobody expects you to do ANY heavy lifting!

Reply

I am new to the blog and I love it! Congrats by the way :) Where are you moving to??

Reply

Hey Danielle!! Thank you so much for your comment, you are the best! We are most likely moving to Cali but we still aren’t sure yet and won’t know for a few more weeks!

Reply

It did get hard to sleep towards the end, especially. My sister got me one of those long pillow for pregnant women so I could sleep better :)
There are so many things to worry about before & after pregnancy but I would try not to stress too much about it! The worrying never ends, it’s still going on for me, but I’ve learned to relax a bit and think “it’s just gonna have to work out, it’s life” :) You’ll be ok whatever happens, you guys will MAKE IT WORK :D

Reply

My husband deployed and I found out a week later I was pregnant. Timing was constantly an issue for us! He missed most of my pregnancy but luckily made it home for her birth :)

Reply

WOW!! That would be incredibly hard! You are amazing and I am so happy he was there for the birth!

Reply

Yes, insomnia. I’m currently 37 weeks and definitely experiencing it a lot. With baby #2, hubby scheduled his back surgery for three days after I gave birth. Horrible timing. I had to take care of a 3 year old, a new born, my husband, and myself. There were definitely nights I thought about holding a pillow over his face. Two months later we moved, and not just down the street, but from New Zealand to Utah. Life isn’t life without some crazy thrown in, right?

Reply

37 weeks, so so exciting! Oh, I can’t even imagine taking care of a newborn, a HUSBAND and a toddler…you are my hero. That is quite the move!

Reply

Hey Girl… I moved to Australia at 34 weeks pregnant (against flight rules but we were held up for 2 weeks because I couldn’t have a chest Xray to rule out tuberculosis which is a requirement for people moving to Australia…lots of paperwork and back and forth but eventually we went!) Anyway, this was Baby #3… I had 27 month old AND a 14 month old (CRAZY!) – so being pregnant was actually the easy part! We had heard that Aussies did not really use disposable diapers so, besides packing the whole house, arranging a sea shipment and figuring out the air shipment to get us thru the first 3 months my engineer husband (likes math!) figured out exactly how many diapers we we needed for Baby #3 from birth to potty trained AND how many more for the 14month old until potty trained…and I packed those too! The funniest thing was going through Costco with cart after cart of diapers when an older man stopped me and said, “Honey, how many babies do you think you are having???” it was too hard to explain! Anyway, I have always said that moving while pregnant is so much EASIER than moving with a newborn/baby. One less body to keep an eye on! Good Luck :) Oh yeah…the diaper calculations were surprisingly accurate – actually had a few extras!

Reply

Okay Vicki, I cannot even imagine going through what you went through. WOW, you are my hero. PS love engineer husbands! I love what the old man asked you, hilarious!

Reply

oh and one more thing… imagine our surprise when we discovered that disposable diapers were very easily accessible in Australia. we had a hard time explaining why we felt the need to bring all those diapers with us… :)

Reply

I’m glad you’re feeling good and strong. What a huge blessing during your pregnancy. I had insomnia during my 2nd trimester with my 2nd baby. It’s really frustrating but I was also doing a program called Hypnobabies and when I woke up I would just put on a track on my iPod and eventually I would fall back to sleep.
As with moving and due dates, with my first we moved from Moscow, Idaho to southern Idaho when I was 8 months pregnant. Luckily it was just for the summer and we didn’t have to move our entire house. When I was 8 1/2 months pregnant with my 2nd we sold our house and moved in with my in-laws the last week of June. It was a little frustrating because no one let me carry anything or help much at all so I felt totally useless. But I survived and had a great birth two weeks later :)

Reply

Whew! I think you will be okay–so thankful you have family near that can help you move, watch baby, and celebrate Billy’s graduation and induction!! If any couple can pull this off, it’s you two!

Reply

Just found your blog via Alyssa! Love it. I had some insomnia while preggers, but it’s funny how I dont remember too much about it now. Good think I wrote posts to help me remember. You’re incredible though for still doing some many miles a week- whew!

Reply

Hey Brittany!! Good to now others experienced insomnia too….I am going to have to find that post of yours!

Oh my gosh. Call me the worst bff in the entire world. I’ve neglected your blog for the last…well….a long time. Actually, I’ve neglected all social networking sites considering the school load….and I DIDN’T KNOW YOU WERE PREGNANT!! I am so LAME. Congrats!! So excited for you!!

Reply

You look fantastic!

I began having insomnia right around that point, sorry to hear that you are not able to maximize your sleep while you can.

Don’t stress too much about the timing of your move and your baby. I came back from India three weeks before my baby was born and everything was fine. Our families are also on opposite coasts of the country. You guys will just do what you have to do and get through it. No worries.

Reply

Ahhhh you look so cute!!

Aww love the belly shot! Holy cow, yall have a lot coming up! But it’s going to be good, I have a feeling you will work it all out!

Your napping is a great habit! My youngest is 3.5 and still wakes up for various things in the middle of the night (water, potty, a hug) so I try to nap when she’s napping whenever possible, which is not often enough! Just think of your pregnancy as training for the ” marathon” of parenting ;)

Reply

I woke up at 3 am every day during my third trimester and when my water broke, it was EXACTLY 3 am. I think he just wanted me to be prepared :) He also liked to wake up then for a feeding when he was tiny.
