Spoiling Myself and 3 Brick Walls

Remember how for my birthday all I wanted was some mula that I could use for completely selfish reasons and not feel guilty about it?  I took advantage of that yesterday and got my nails done along with the first pedicure I have had since before my wedding….um, three years ago.

Photo 8 copy

Are my knuckles abnormally wrinkly?

I tried to get a discount on the pedicure since I only have 8 toenails (thank you running) but they wouldn’t give me the money off for it.  They should have given me 20% off.

Hallelujah for flip flop weather.  In my mind 44 degrees constitutes flip flop weather.

I went to yoga last night to a teacher that I have been to before thinking it would be super easy since her last class was but it was anything but easy.  Hopefully my students don’t mind the fact that I will not be able to raise my arms to play volleyball with them or be able to write on the board.  I guess this means I can’t wash my hair either, bummer.

Right after yoga, holy cow yesterday was go go go, we went over to my parents to pick up my dress for this weekend because she had to fix a little part of it.  It turned out that somehow we ended up there at the perfect time to eat dinner…funny how that works out;)

IMG 9462

Syrup added post eggs with ketchup being eaten….that combination would just be wrong.

Too bad we only saw the kiddos for a few minutes before they had to go to bed.  Boo.

This is their new favorite game, it is called brick wall and the object is to see who can stay like this without making a noise or moving the longest, two of them ended up falling asleep.

IMG 9463

And since I had extra milk left over from dinner I couldn’t just waste it.

IMG 9468

Remember how I told you that my mom never bought sugar cereals when we were growing up?  That has all changed now and she must love the grandkids more because they have 7 sugarific varieties available at all times.

———————————————————

Since there is a picture of a hand on this post then I am going to ask what type of wedding ring you have if you are married.  If you aren’t what do you want?  Yellow gold, white gold, silver or other (is there an other?)

-I have loved yellow gold since I was a little girl and so my wedding ring is yellow gold.

Do you have all ten toenails?  Do you get pedicures or do you do your own toenails?  Do you have any battle wounds on your feet from running?

Yoga lovers:  where did you get your yoga mat?  What color is yours?  It is time for me to get a new one.

Who else loves Rainbow flip flops?

I have two rings, one I wear in the winter and it’s made out of tungsten carbide with carbon fiber in the center..it’s like a piece of my bike with me all of the time :). My real wedding ring is diamonds and white gold.
I have lost every single toe nail due to racing. Right now my right big toenail is still trying to grow back after a year.

Reply

Two rings….lucky:) Why are our toenails so lame? Just stay with us:)

That brick wall game is hilarious! I wonder if I could get my boys to do that, hmm..

Reply

YES….get them to do it, it was hilarious!

Oh my gosh-I live in rainbow flip flops. Even though they are expensive, they last forever and def worth it. In fact-I may get some more on break.

At the current moment I have ten toe nails, but I’m also just getting back into running. I have a habit of losing the BIG TOE which is the worst one bahaha.

Glad you had a lovely time getting your nails done-I would have asked the same thing lolz!

Reply

My ring is white gold. Diz & I picked it out together and I love it!

Currently I do have all 10 toenails. So far I’ve only ever lost one! Crazy. I love getting pedicures! But i can also paint my own if i have too.

I don’t have a yoga mat, but if I did, it’d probably be pink! ;)

And sadly, i’ve never owned a pair if rainbow flip flops!

Reply

My wedding ring is platinum. I have tiny fingers and it looks like it belongs on a child!!!

Reply

Did they have to make a special sized ring for you?

Reply

We had to order it in advance as they rarely keep such a small size in stock!

OMG rainbow flip flops are my absolute favorite shoes of all time (aside from running shoes)….I wear them every year until it snows and can’t wait to wear them each spring as soon as the snow melts. I can’t even tell you how many times people have told me I’m going to get frost bite on my toes….but has it happened yet??!?! nope! :)
Have a great Friday, Janae! Bachelor finale on MONDAY!

Reply

Right now, yes all ten toenails, but last time I ran a half marathon I lost two. I’m foreseeing the same outcome in my near future! And I couldn’t live without my rainbows, I’ve had them for about four years and they are still going strong!

Reply

Yeah, when I was growing up, I would have to sneak those Sucrets brand cherry cough drops or Tempo’s (like Tums) if I wanted a treat, and we rarely had anything but powdered milk and juice to drink, but once all of the kids left the house my parents bought an extra fridge and stuffed it with ice cream and soda. No fair!

I didn’t want a huge rock, so I just have three thin white gold bands with itty bitty diamonds on one side. Don’t be fooled by their size though. Get those suckers in the sunlight and they create a wall of sparkle!

Reply

My ring is white gold, and I love it. Don’t have all my toenails either, three of them fell off last fall and are just starting to grow back. I think the last time I had a pedicure was before my wedding, almost 5 years ago.

The last yoga class I went to killed me. I couldn’t walk the next day.

Reply

I most certainly do NOT have all ten toenails. I paint the skin so it looks like I do, though, but even that wears off when I run.

I am not married but I know exactly the wedding ring I want… although my cousin (the closest thing I have to a sister!) got engaged last week and her ring is GORGEOUS so I am now open to other styles.

Your nieces and nephew are so cute. Do the other ones not live as close? They are so lucky to have a grandmother who buys them sugary cereal! It seems like they get to visit your parents a lot so they get a lot of that cereal good stuff!

Reply

I wear flip flops as much as possible! I would totally wear them in sub 40 degree weather if people didn’t look at me funny:) My wedding ring is platinum, because my engagement ring is too, and I wanted them to match. My husbands is white gold, because I used up the whole wedding ring budget;-)
I can’t wait to see your dress for the event! I love getting dressed up for things. Good for you for pampering – getting a pedicure is one of the last things I do for myself, although when I’m actually getting it done, I absolutely love it. It’s more of a time thing and my feet are so mangled from running! But. I have yet to lose any toenails! And I’ve never gotten a blister from any race, my feet are tough!:)

Such a fun night!!

I love my white gold band with diamonds and my solitaire diamond ring that’s white gold. My hubby did a good job!!

yes, YOGA is HARD stuff. Hah. It always feels good though….afterwards ;)

I am a fellow yoga enthusiast. My mat is the Manduka travel mat, which is purple. I bought my husband the regular Manduka mat, which is black and heavier duty. Manduka makes the best mats – we will never have to replace them. I bought them both from Amazon, but I saw them in Dick’s Sporting Goods last time I was there!

My wedding and engagement rings are platinum. I have a green gemstone called tsavorite garnet instead of a diamond as the main stone, so I upgraded the metal. :)

Congratulations on your pregnancy! You will be a great mom.

Reply

Chanelle! Thank you so so much for your recommendation, I am totally going to get one of those Manduka mats! Thanks for the congrats!!

Reply

I am a white gold person all the way. I definitely prefer silver/white gold jewelry. No wedding ring yet, though!

I have all of my toenails, but they are so small that it looks like two of them are missing (I have tiny feet). I have never had a pedicure but would love to get one some day.

Reply

I have never even heard of Rainbow flip-flops but after reading comments i might have to check them out.
I have all my toe nails. That has never happened to me. Weird!
Is it bad that I use the yoga mats at the studio. I have bought two and both were super slippery. If anyone can recommend one that would be great.

Reply

My wedding bands are white gold, but slowing turning yellow. My engagement ring is platinum. my husband thought i should get plat bands, but i loved the sparkle and went for 2 white gold bands for the price of 1 plat. i thought i was a good idea until they no longer match with the white gold coming off. :(

i’ve never lost my toe nails from running, but i don’t run long distances. I did how ever lose them from my wedding shoes…UGH! i broke them in for 6 months (blue snake skin print….so cute) but had a freakish hot day in march for our wedding and apparently my sweaty toes hit the front of them all day.

Reply

JenG – it’s easy to get your white gold sparkle back! It’s just that the rhodium plating (what makes the white gold white) is wearing off. Take your rings into your jeweler every 2-4 years and have it re-rhodiumed and they’ll look as beautiful as ever!

Reply

I also wear rainbows! And I ordered my yoga mat on Amazon, I get everything on there… I don’t have a wedding ring but I’d probably go with white gold, although I love yellow gold jewelry. Hard choice. Completely irrelevant to my current life though… And I always paint my own toenails! I’ve gotten 2 pedicures in my life! (about 4-5 manicures).

Reply

No currently married or engaged, but a big fan of white gold!

Right now I have all ten toenails, but one’s looking pretty ugly so I may be down to nine in the near future. I have my first half marathon next Saturday! I’m super pumped.

I could wear only Rainbow sandals for the rest of my life and I’d be completely happy. I’ve had a ton of pairs and am quite a loyal Rainbow gal! :)

Reply

I have all of my toenails, but they aren’t exactly pretty. I always feel bad for the people giving me a pedicure when I get them (rarely).

My engagement ring is white gold (so is my band), but it’s really nontraditional looking.

I can’t WAIT to bust out my Rainbows!

Reply

My wedding band and engagement ring are both yellow gold. I like the fact that the diamonds don’t blend in with it! My honey custom designed my engagement ring… he did good.

Reply

I do have all ten toenails!
I have a green Gaiam yoga mat. It’s okay, but can get a bit slidey. If at home I prefer to not use it at all. I’d potentially get the same again though, as I like that it has less toxins etc in.

Reply

My husband gave me a platinum engagement ring that has a tension setting. I didn’t want to take away the look of that ring so it’s what we used as my wedding band. The only downside is that my fingers got smaller (yes, smaller) when I was pregnant and you can’t resize a tension setting. I had to add inserts which make the ring less comfortable.

10 toenails here. Never lost one running….just every other injury!

Reply

Is there a reason you don’t seem to have a wedding band? I have an engagement ring and don’t wear it much (also will have a band after I get married), so I’m not too traditional. But I always notice you seen to have the one ring.

Reply

Hey Lauren!! No reason….I for some reason just wanted the one ring. I knew the exact ring I wanted and could never find a band that looked good with it:) Hope you are having a great day!

Reply

I have two nails that struggle to come back, only to be thwarted with every race I run. They just keep trying to grow, though!

Reply

My ring is white gold with a round stone. :) I love it. My husband took a lot of time picking out the perfect ring and stone … which makes me appreciate it so much more!

Reply

I am so teaching my kids that game! I think they’d only last 14 seconds though! My kids get mad because I don’t much sugar cereal either. That’s why Danny buys and hides frosted flakes!
My yoga mat is pink and from TJMaxx. I always slide on it though. It doesn’t have good traction.

Reply

Wow that brick wall game… Whoever invented that is a genius!

Reply

I love getting pedicures but I know that every time I go I am sure they making fun of me and giggling to each other about how gross my feet are from running haha – oh well at the end of the day I have pretty toes :)

Reply

If I ever get married I’ll probably have to have a plastic or rubber ring… I used to be able to wear rings, but I got a really bad allergic reaction from one ring I wore in combination with the sanitizer from work and now all rings start to give me a reaction. I haven’t worn one in several months.

I’ve never lost a toenail from running, but I’ve never really had a pinky toenail. I just have a little nub of a toenail, so if I paint them I usually paint some of the skin on that toe to make it look like there is a toenail there.

I think my yoga mat is just a Gaiam from Wal-Mart. It’s blue. Then I also have a purple one that I got when my old gym replaced their old yoga mats.

And I don’t have rainbow flip-flops but I have an awesome pair of yellow ones.

Reply

Showing my age, I have a yellow gold wedding ring! I really love all the titanium ones out now, but mine is special b/c it is mine, even if it is old!

I never get pedicures, but I probably should!

Reply

Yellow gold, but I really wanted white gold. And now I want platinum. Or something different and cool.
I do not have all 1o toenails right now. I consider it a badge of honor.
No yoga here.
And yes, I love Rainbow flipflops. Wear them all summer.
The Kidless Kronicles

Reply

Both of my rings are white gold.
I love pedis! I had one right before holidays since I was on my free visit. At my spa every 6th visit is free :) But my toenails always have to be painted. My war wound from running my marathon last May has just fully healed, I lost a toenail and it grew back with ridges but they are gone finally now.
My yoga mat is purple and pretty sure we bought it from Costco a long time ago.

Reply

Yellow gold! I have all 10 toenails – and di a mani/pedi once a month as a gift to me. I end up getting lots of Groupon deals or finding coupons for them!

I LOVE YOGA!!! I actually find one at Marshalls. It was $12.00 – long (I am 5’10”) and thick. It is orange (favorite color) with lighter orange flowers on it.

I had yoga yesterday with Josh and I was a shaking machine. My arms are quite sory today.

Reply

good for you to pamper yourself a bit! we all deserve that every once in awhile. your nails look beautiful! ;) my wedding ring is just a white gold band, and then my engagement ring (which i wear with my wedding band) has a round diamond with two diamonds on each side of it. simple – just how i like it! :)

Reply

I’m not married…but I’ll probably go with white gold or silver. I have two picked out, now I just need to secure a fiance!

I have all 10. I get a pedicure every few months when they are getting too janky looking, otherwise I paint them myselfs. My only battle wounds right now are some blisters and calluses.

Please share the yoga mat info once you get a new one!

Reply

My engagement ring and my wedding band are both platinum pave’.

I’ve only gotten professional manis or pedis a few times in my life, but I enjoy painting my own nails. I do it as a treat to myself. I do have all my toenails (knock on wood) but since I’m training for my first marathon this year, we’ll see how that holds up.

I have some yoga videos that I do at home which aren’t super challenging so they are more just relaxing than anything else. Probably should up the ante on those…

Reply

My current yoga mat (mine is purple): http://www.amazon.com/Manduka-PROLite-Yoga-Dark-Gray/dp/B005DX3TAC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1331303786&sr=8-1 :) I love it, it has a great weight and “stickability”–I hate when my mat slips allllll over the place. And it’s thick enough that I don’t feel like my bones are being crushed against the floor \o/

Wedding ring-wise, I love the pairing of silver and diamonds. Or platinum? Or white gold… I don’t know, just not a huge fan of diamond + yellow gold. Although secretly I want my mother’s (also: grandmother’s) ring, which isn’t actually her wedding ring but is gorgeous and silver/diamond and I love it :)

Reply

Okay, everyone is recommending Manduka….you guys are all so smart, I am going to have to get it now! Thank you SO so much for the link! That would be neat to someday have your grandma’s ring!

Reply

NEVER do pedicures! They would scrape off all the stuff I got from barefoot running. I don’t do manicures well I have 5 kids and no time for nice nails. I’m just not that girly :/ I can’t wait to hear what kind of foods you crave! HAHA!!!!!

Reply

I have all my toenails, the only time I have lost them was from having extremely low iron.

My wedding ring is white gold with diamonds and matches my e-ring.

I get a pedicure done every six weeks I find it super relaxing and like spoiling myself and i used to be ashamed of my feet and I like that they are cute now.

I got my yoga mat at winners (a designer discount store in Canada) I bought it mostly for the pretty color and design (fuschia with a lighter pink design)

Reply

What’s an e-ring? I want one!

Reply

Your nails look awesome!!

Thanks to running, I am missing two toenails, but I am ok with them being gone! If I do get a pedicure I make sure they know and to be sensitive around those toes. Right now I am rocking a cut along the inside of my left ankle from my trail race last weekend, its a battle wound!

I got my yoga mat from http://www.manduka.com/us/ and love it! It is green and my towel is pink for supporting breast cancer.

Love rainbows! Been wearing them since middle school!

Reply

Thanks Katie!!! OUCH….that cut does not sound fun. Done and done, I will be copying your mat, thank you SO much for the yoga mat link. Aren’t rainbows the most comfortable shoes in the world?!

Reply

My best friend is coming up next weekend and my mother is insisting on treating us to pedicures. the one thing she doesn not understand is half of my toenails are torn in half, black, or just gone. poor lady who has to do my toes!

Reply

That will be so fun to go with your mom and best friend! HA…I kept apologizing a million times because of my toenails!

Reply

My wedding ring is white gold with diamonds. Daniel had a specific diamond (that he bought after only one year of dating me) cut and inserted into the sides of the ring – it is so special to me!

I have all ten toenails (although I have lost some before due to running and athletic activities in general). I get a pedicure maybe once or twice a year – but that just started last year. Before then I had only gotten two pedicures in my life – one for college graduation and one for my wedding. :)

Reply

im not married or even engaged yet but i’m not a fan of yellow gold. silver or white gold all the way for me :) yellow gold just doesnt look good on my skin tone :(

i am lucky to still have all my toenails. we’ll see how that goes during marathon training though ;) I get a pedicure once at the beginning of summer and then im lazy and just hope it lasts for a while, lol!

Reply

I love that you have a yellow gold band! We’re searching for wedding bands now for our May wedding, and it’s a sea of white gold/ platinum in every jewelry store we visit. I love buter gold though, so I’m thinking a combination of the two metals would be lovely…Yoga- I’ve been practicing & teaching vinyasa flow for over 16 years. In my experience, your basic $20 Gaiam mat will do. I took a teacher’s training a few years ago and used a Gaiam throughout the 500 hr cert. That said, if you want to invest in the “best”, go with Manduka. Namaste!

Reply

I used to allllways get pedicures but i do just on rare occasions now (maybe a 3x a year) i do them myself for the most part.

Reply

I love white gold! I probably would love platinum if it wasn’t ridiculously expensive, haha! I bought a groupon for a mani/ped.half hour massage (only 40 bucks!) and I finally scheduled it for next week. I can’t wait!!!

Reply

My wedding ring is white gold w/ diamonds around the band. It’s puurdy!

I am currently only missing one toenail- the big toe. Looks pretty funky. I can not for the life of me paint my own toe nails w/o it looking like a 7 year old did it. So, I always get pedicures. It’s one of my all time favorite things to do!!

I love rainbow sandals too! I have had mine forever and don’t think I’ll ever need a new pair unless I lose them!

Reply

I do have all 10 toenails, even with running. I am ridiculous about pedicures, because I refuse to have fangly feet (fangly is my new favorite word…. can’t you just see it?!?). I get a pedicure about every two weeks, and the in between week, I cut my toenails myself to make sure they are super short!

I love any and all flipflops. I am currently in defiance of winter, so I’m wearing flip flops. I feel like if I dress like it’s spring, then it will BE spring. :)

BRICK WALL? Can I use that game in my classroom!?! Lol.

I love the pedi discount idea. You totally deserved it!

Reply

Love flip flops! Oddly enough it’s freezing down here in TX! Hope it goes away soon!

My feet are very embarrassing looking lately…need a pedicure.

Oh my gosh I am laughing SO HARd at that 3 bricks game! Seriously I think I just snorted out loud. That is hysterical and I am TOTALLY trying it with my kids! LOL!!

My fave yoga mat — Jade yoga mat. I think they are about $60, but totally worth it. They have a texture that makes it really non-slippery, which is great b/c even though I have a fancy Yogitoes towel, I don’t like doing yoga on the towel. So, Jade yoga mat works perfectly for me. I think I got it on Amazon.

I have a platinum ring. When I got engaged in 1998 it was yellow gold, but for my 10 year anniversary I got an anniversary diamond band, and switched my ring to platinum at the same time!!

Reply

Wow, there are some hardcore runners reading this blog! If you all got together in room there would only be like 5 big toenails total! I have never lost a toenail due to running, but when I got a pedicure in January (thank you Christmas present from my SIL!) one of my big toenails was turning black and the technician told me I might lose it. Am I a real runner now? :)
My wedding and engagement rings are platinum. My husband chose a platinum engagement ring that I LOVE, but between when we got engaged and when we got married platinum prices went way up so I was sort of bummed how expensive my wedding ring ended up being. White gold and platinum look similar unless they are right next to each other, but you can really tell when they are back to back. Apparently platinum is much softer so it scratches more easily and ends up with a different texture than white gold.

Reply

Diamonds…yay. My wedding right is my MIL’s original engagement stone that my husband had reset. It’s a slightly canary colored round stone with 24 smaller diamonds surrounding it and down the band (half way). The 24 stones are symbolic of us being together for 24 months when he popped the question. He actually designed the ring, so when I get compliments, I always give him mad props. It’s white gold.

I have all mine at the moment, but some are in bad condition. I have to get dark colors when I get a pedicure. I LOVE pedicures. Manicures…not really my thing.

The first I lost a toe nail, I felt like I got the runners’ stamp of approval! Happy Friday, girl!

Wow they totally should have given you a discount! That’s hilarious that you asked though, they were probably like WTF.
I have all ten toenails. I’ve never lost one from running!
I think I got my mat at Target or something, I’m not sure. It’s pink though and I love it.
I’m obsessed with my Rainbows! Mine are so old, but I still wear them everywhere.

Reply

My ring is white gold. I love it. :)
Rainbows are the BEST flip flops EVER.
My parents were the same way- no sugar cereals…so now I feel like I have to make up for lost time ;)

Reply

My ring is platinum, thicker band with a pricncess cut. I did not have a wedding band. It now has a band because Chris surprised me for our 5 year with a band with 5 princess cut diamonds. I was shocked and I loved that moment because you know prior to engagement you talk about it, you know you wnat to marry this person, will marry this person etc………so his 5 year surprise felt like a girly fairytail.
HAPPY FRIDAY!

i love brick wall! I’m going to play that with Logan – sounds great :) lol

and your nails look great! I got mine done once (with tips put on) Colin said square nails look weird, I prefer them! and I found that everything was so hard to pick up with those nails…..when the gas station person would throw my change on the counter I’d spend what felt like mins trying to pick up the dimes and nickels. lol

Major pedicure envy. Running has left me with the gnarliest toes on the planet, I promise. They need an intervention.

New to your blog and really, really enjoy it!

Hey bekah! Thanks so much for commenting! Isn’t it crazy what running does to us ha! Have a great day!

I get pedicures pretty regularly. They are my winter pick-me-up! Right now I have 3 open wounds on the back of one ankle due to a zipper on my running pants digging in earlier this week. They are in the most uncomfortable spot!

I’m not sure where I got my yoga mat from. It’s a beautiful periwinkle. One of my favorite colors! It was a gift from Santa. He knows me so well! My yoga mat bag is from Target.

Who else loves Rainbow flip flops?

I am not married yet and hoping engagement is coming soon (its been 3 years) but I really want Rose gold. I have a rose gold watch and the color is so complimentary to my skin. Oh and just a diamond. I dont care if there are more than 1 but would like at least 1 nice one. :)
I still have all 10 toenails but my 2nd toe is looking a little funky after the past few months of so much running. I can not wait till I can get a pedi and would like to wait till they grow out a bit Maybe in 2 weeks.
My Yoga mat is blue. They say its a happy color. Works for me! Got it at my yoga studio and paid like $100 for it 4 years ago and it still works great! (It was a gift for my bday. I dont think I could get myself to buy another one now)
Its a Jade Harmony mat. I love love love it though.
Any flip flops I love too!
Hope you are not too sore after your class. have a great weekend!

Oh girl, I am in desperate need of a pedicure/manicure it’s not even funny. I do my own right now but you can totally tell a difference between the two!!
I have a white gold wedding ring! I wear mostly white gold / silver jewelry so it was the best option =)
My toes are not so pretty…discolored…and I’m definitely missing a few. My trick is to put nailpolish on over the nailbed anyway. You can’t tell then that I’m missing a toenail (at least from a-far!)

Reply

I have never lost a big toenail. (Knock on wood.)
The other eight have either been on their way in or out the last two years. I do my own pedicures, don’t want to subject others to my feet. I have started putting Aquaphor on them at night and sleeping in socks. It has made a huge difference in the appearance of my feet.

My rings are not the one I had when we got married almost 16 years ago. Gold and silver band from James Avery and a platinum band with an emeral cut diamond. I love them.

Reply

I have a Jade yoga mat and it is purple. It was a little pricey but I took the recommendation from someone I know who teaches yoga and the mat rocks. Slipping has disappeared!

Reply

Love Rainbow flip flops, but love being barefoot more! Just not in winter. Got a pedicure just last week on impulse, and forgot “the drill” to bring my flips into the salon with me. They ran out of the disposable ones so I opted to walk barefoot back to my car. The funny thing is that mall security stopped me not because of the “no shoes” rule, but because they thought I was crazy for walking the mall in my bare feet! I was more embarrassed by the coworker that I bumped into. I suspect she’ll refer to me as “the barefoot one” now!

Oh, and I have all 10 toenails. Not in bad shape but I’m not running long distances…yet!

Reply

that is hilarious, and totally sounds like something I’d do…I hate shoes, but I AM from West Virginia…

Reply

Good for you for pampering yourself! I have platinum bands for both my rings. My husband drew out what he wanted my engagement ring to look like before seeing the jeweler and I love it so much.

I got my mat at Target; nothing special but it’s multi-colored and I get so many conpliments when I was talking classes before. I can’t wait to see you in the dress!

Reply

I have always worn silver or white gold, to me I can’t tell the difference! I’d love for my future wedding ring to be white gold and the stone is completely up to my o be husband. Of course I have styles that I really like, however I want my boyfriend to pick out what he likes best. It’ll mean that much more!

Reply

Hahahahaha they should have given you 20% off because of your toes! I will never forget the moment I got a pedicure when 2 of my toenails had fallen off and I only had 8…the look on the ladies face was priceless. Have an awesome weekend!

Wedding ring: white gold bought at EZ Money Pawn. Is it bad luck to have someone’s discarded wedding ring? It’s been working out for us so far.

Yoga mat: blue. I’ve had it so long that I don’t even remember buying it. I can’t imagine ever wearing it out. That thing seems indestructible.

Reply

I have all ten toenails. I did my first marathon in June of 2011 and never lost one! A gal that I ran with asked me how many I lost and I got so nervous that I didn’t train properly because I didn’t lose any!

I almost always put banana on my toast. My favorite breakfast is whole wheat toast, peanut butter, sliced banana on top, cinnamon, and a little honey. YUM! Feels like such a treat!

I highly highly HIGHLY recommend the mat from lululemon. It’s a little bit of an investment but it is totally worth the money. It has an amazing non-slip surface that is so perfect for a hot yoga class. It changed my practice, for sure!!!

haha- my friend and I always try and discounts since our pinky toe nails might as well not even be there…..it’s always a no go. C’est la vie. Love the nails! I busted out my flip flops yesterday, my feet were NOT ready!

I had that same blue mat a few years ago! I currently have a pink & orange (same stripe-ish pattern) one from Home Goods and a pink one with a grid on it (forgot the brand name) I got from an event. I’ve always had an assort of mats around growing up and go with a classic $12-$20 one from TJ Maxx or Target.

Not all of my toenails have been around for the same amount of time …

I never had Rainbows – when I worked in a surf shop it was all about Reefs

I have the grossest feet from 16 years of ballet, and currently have 9 toenails from running. But of course it doesn’t stop me from wearing my beloved rainbows :) best flip flops ever! Sorry to those who have to witness my nasty feet! Your nails look great! I always wanted a lulu yoga mat, I heard they are not slippery which is good cuz my hands always slip, grrr sweaty palms! Have a great day Janae!

White gold and simple, I have never been a big jewelry person. Though since I got a new ring at my last birthday I am warming up to the idea…

My pinky toes are sad, not much there. Since my mileage has been so low I actually have all my toenails – it’s kinda strange.

I’m newish to running, and haven’t lost any toenails. Does that happen to everyone?? I’m not really a squeamish person and have a pretty high pain tolerance (two natural childbirths!), but the thought of losing a toenail makes me gag a little. Hope I am the exception to the rule!

My wedding ring is white gold (love white gold!) with a princess cut diamond in the center and smaller princess cut diamonds on the side, and I have two anniversary bands (one for the actual wedding ring, the other for our 7 year anniversary). My husband let me choose between 3 rings, and that is the one I just loved :)

I have NEVER had a pedicure. How sad is that? I was a little confused by the phrase “do you do your own nails”. Am I supposed to be doing something to them? ;)
I do currently have all 10 toenails! I lost 3 (both big toenails!) after the UV marathon last year. They are finally back. I missed them.
My wedding/engagement ring (I don’t have an ‘official’ wedding band) is white gold. They did a platinum dip to make it look for white/silvery but it’s well faded off by now.

The best yoga mats are from target! They are pretty affordable and even the yoga teachers at my studio use them. If you get sweaty or do hot yoga they have a washable absorbant pad that goes over it to help you get your grip (plus yoga socks are amazing!).

Being a newlywed I am super excited to talk about my wedding band! The engagement ring is a white gold band with a brilliant cut diamond. The wedding band itself is all diamonds in a “garland” shape.

I haven’t lost any toes running – but after my half marathon I found out I have an extra bone in the bottom of my foot (my whole family does!) since it was SO bruised from running! Luckily I invested in some cushioned socks and it hasnt’ bruised on any other long runs :)

You crack me up all the time, Janae…a discount on the pedicure? Love it! Between years of figure skating and now running, my feet are anything but pretty. I don’t get pedicures often, but when I do, I am alwasy so embarrassed.

Not married yet, but my bf and I have started looking at rings : ) I honestly don’t know much about rings, but I love this one ring I saw with cushion cut and a thin, diamond lined band.

I just had a pedicure for the first time in YEARS this weekend! It was great, but definitely a once in a while treat.

Somehow I haven’t managed to lose any toenails from running….but watch that now that I say that, it’ll happen haha.

I have all my nails and have never lost one. But there are a couple that think about turning black sometimes. They usually change their minds.

I am on my third wedding band. 26 years ago my $300 gold bands weren’t much so I got a new one. I also have very skinny fingers. It kept flying off. One day it went too far and I couldn’t find it. Now I just have a different ring I wear on that finger. I don’t think he wants to buy me a third….I wonder why? It’s pretty though. White gold and sapphire.

Oh, and no flip flops here. Not happy for your achilles…

My mother has a whole big toe missing, not just a toenail, and they won’t ever give her a discount either. Her big toe got cut off in a bike chain when she was two, she wanted to ride with her big brother & when he wouldn’t let her, she tried to jump on as he rode past her… toe got stuck & caught… and was too mangled to re-attach. Never ride a bike without closed-toe shoes on!! :)

I thought that I was the only one who lost toenails from running! My second toe on both feet were without a toenail for months!!

If I was getting married, it would definitely be white gold. :)

I’m thinking I might have to get a pedicure tonight after reading this post! The perfect Friday night treat to myself…PLUS- it’s going to be in the 60s/70s here in Philly all next week so…I might have to bust out the rainbows, too :)

I have a generic target yoga mat right now- it’s orange…and falling apart! I need a new one and I’ve practiced a few times on a JADE mat http://www.jadeyoga.com/store/home.php and they are awesome (and made locally to me!) but I can’t decide what color to go for so it’s holding me up in deciding!

I do get pedicure with gel nails … it is awesome because they last for +/- 5 or 6 weeks even through all the running, skiing and golf shoe squeezing. Check it here: http://www.barborkas.cz/Project365/Project365/Entries/2010/1/25_50_365_…_Bench_Monday.html and here: http://ontherun.barborkas.cz/2011/10/necessary-pink-marathon-equipment.html . Surprisingly I did not have any toenail losses until my first marathon (NYC 2011 where I got to meet you! :) ). I now have 9.5 toenails – one fell off just few weeks ago, but there was already a new one underneath.

Love your manicure!

I have 3 rings, all white gold, with my uber paleness yellow gold looks crazy. I run after school programs out in California and I teach that game to our coordinators as a calming game too, only we call it “Road Kill”. As in the teacher pretends to be a truck and know the little ones are the road kill, and the love it.

And toes….well after a marathon a couple years ago I had magnificent black toe nail and the pedicurist got her manager to see if my toe had fungus. NO it is an accomplishment lady, later that nail fell off. Gross.

I don’t get pedicures if I am training for anything, because I want my feet to be rough and tough. Especially with the heat and humidity we have most of the year. If you don’t have tough feet, it doesn’t matter with the socks or how much Body Glide you have, there will be blisters.

I am going to get one next week for sandal season to begin here. Plus it’s SXSW week and I want my toes to look pretty!

I have 9.5 toe nails. I had an issue with 1 at the RNR San Antonio marathon 3 years ago and it somehow how it’s growth stunted!

I feel like I can’t call myself a runner until I lose a toenail-I’m kinda bummed that I haven’t yet ;)

I’m actually going for a pedicure in an hour cause I’m the MOH in a wedding tomorrow. yay !!

My engagement ring and wedding band both belonged to my Grandmother. They were given to my Mom when she passed away and my husband asked her if he could give them to me. I love them :)
Here is a pedicure tip – get one a couple of weeks before the baby arrives, it will give you something pretty to look at during labour and delivery :)

I’m a yoga junkie and honestly get all of my mats at Target. What makes a huge difference though, is a yogitoes towel. I LOVE those and highly, highly recommend. :)
Where are you going this weekend?

Awesome thanks!!! I am going to LA wahooo!

Yum that dinner looks so good! I would like to have a white gold ring with a pretty band with little jewels in it :)

Hey Girl!!! I love yoga (I’m currently training to be a RYT!!!). I got my mat from Amazon (LOOOVE that site!) and naturally its purple!

If you need any tips/advice for yoga and pregnancy let me know!!! =)

Have a great trip!

Not married (yet) but I’m thinking silver or white gold and super simple.

I do have all 10 toenails, and thus far haven’t lost any from running! I do my own nails generally, except about 2 times a year I spoil myself with a pedi at the salon.

My yoga mat is old and from TJ Maxx… I so need a new one. But I have a nice grippy towel for it so there’s that.

Black or brown flip-flops please!!!

Reply

Glad you are spoiling yourself! I do my own toes usually, but every once in a while I will get a pedicure. It’s a nice treat! :)

Reply

I rarely get manis or pedis… too expensive, so I do them at home 95% of the time.

I lost a toenail after my first marathon. So strange… it’s pretty much grown back in now, tho.

I love getting pedicures, though I seem to get less of them now that I’m not a student and I have to actually repay those student loans… Kind of wish I had gotten LESS pedicures as a student, repayment is brutal – it’s spa day at home for me for the next 10 years!!

My poor runners feet are brutal. My boyfriend gave me a gift certificate for the spa that included a pedicure. I think he is trying to tell me something :-P

I love the idea of asking for ‘selfish me-money’ for your birthday. It’s awesome having money that you can spend guilt-free!

I am obsessed with silver or white gold. I’m not married, but I definitely want a white gold ring some day :-D Some day not TOO far off haha

Reply

I might be the only person that doesn’t enjoy pedicures…sad right? I just hate people touching my feet and I feel like I might accidentally kick people if they get too close haha.

Reply

My engagement ring is white gold and my wedding band is tungsten!
