Top 10 List and Dunkaroos

Craving fulfilled.

Billy thinks that it is strange that I wanted strawberry cream cheese on my cinnamon raisin bagel.  Is he right or is he being the strange one?

Another food find that I am loving right now:

Photo copy

Yes, mom….I did steal these from your pantry.  I guess this is the time that I should say I am sorry for not asking (it is easier to ask for forgiveness than permission).

Of course you do have to eat two of these at a time to get your full serving of fruit but man are they good.  Almost as good as fruit by the foots….a student was eating one of those the other day and it brought back so many good memories.  Gushers will always be my favorite ‘fruit’ snack though.

While we are on the topic of delicious things that used to go in my brown bag as ‘dessert’ for lunch as a kid, do you remember Dunkaroos? Whenever I had a pack of these in my lunch I automatically knew that I was my parent’s favorite child.

My Top 10 Reasons to Look Forward to the Weekend:

1.  Sleeping in.  Not letting my alarm clock force me to be a productive human being.

2.  Leggings for 58 hours straight.  None of this ‘professional dress’ business.

3.  I finally have time to make some delicious dessert….I am thinking THESE.  I also want to make some homemade mac and cheese with lots of bread crumbs on top.  Any recipe recommendations?

4.  Of course, the Saturday long run followed by the Sunday rest day will always make this list

5.  Even though we say we want to save money and not eat out we always end up going out to eat which is one of my favorite things in the whole world.  Law school isn’t going to be that expensive…why save now?

6.  Extra time to finally spend with my nieces and nephew….it has been 4 whole days since I have seen them.   You know Sunday night family dinner are some of my favorite hours each week.

7.   Bagels.  Cream Cheese.  Repeat.

8.  Costco samples for Saturday lunch and a Walmart trip to find Dunkaroos.

9.   I get to forget for a few days that I have any responsibilities whatsoever.

10.  Time to finally pluck my eyebrows.

Did you eat school lunch or have a packed lunch when you were in elementary school?  Do you remember any of your favorite items that were in your lunch as a kid?

-I had a packed lunch every day except for pizza day (thank you mom) and my favorites were of course dunkaroos and gushers.

What fits on your top 10 list for things to look forward to the weekend?

How old were you when you had your wisdom teeth out?

On the top of my list is a trip to Vegas! Super excited!
This is random but I recently stumbled across this article from 2002, so I figured most people haven’t read it and I thought it had a bunch of good info:

APRIL!! have a blast in Vegas this weekend and thank you so much for the link, I am so excited to read it! Really thank you!

SO interesting, thanks for sharing!

I used to eat like 10 of those fruit strips a day, and then I got burned out so haven’t had them in awhile. And do you call it fruit leather? Steve thinks it’s weird that I do. I had school lunch usually – because I got it for $.40, so cheaper than packed lunch. This weekend = St. George 1/2!!! I’m so excited to travel there, stay in a hotel, run the race (of course), eat out, relax, hot tub, etc.

Reply

I do call them fruit leather! HAVE A BLAST at the St. George 1/2 and I want to hear ALL about it!

Reply

Ok, I’m going to hold you to that. :)

Reply

I ALWAYS had a packed lunch. love the dunkaroos and pizza lunchables. With gushers we would always get the red ones and squirt the goo on ourselves to make it look like we were bleeding. obviously it looked super real and believable.

Reply

I forgot about lunchables….so good;) BAHAHA love your gushers story!

Reply

My weekend top three:
1.TRX class
2.Panerra coffee and bagels (we get every Sunday after church)
3.Sunday dinner at mom and dads

Reply

Dunkaroos are the bomb dot comm! It has been ages and now I want them. I have a long run this weekend too and will be battling the 5-7 inches of snow we’re getting during it :)

Reply

We always had school lunch…but when we went skiing on weekends, we packed our lunch. My favorite thing was Hostess’s Chocolicious…chocolate cake, chocolate cream, and chocolate frosting…yum…I sure miss those.

I work all weekend, so nothing particular to look forward to…

I got my wisdom teeth out when I was 18. It wasn’t too terrible, but mine were a pretty easy surgery.

Reply

My mom always packed my lunch and wrote me a little note on my napkin every single day. The older I got, I was so embarrassed, but now I think it’s sweet :)

Top 10 this weekend? SKI DAY tomorrow and….HUT TRIP on Saturday-Monday!!! Could it be any better??

MAC AND CHEESE: http://iowagirleats.com/2011/09/20/one-pot-wonder/
omg so so creamy!

Leggings, bagels, running and Costco?! I’m obsessed with your weekends and those S’mores bars look delish!

I had a packed lunch about half the time… I loved turkey bagel cheese sandwiches :)

NOT WORKING!!!!!! is always on my list of great things about the weekend! lol And I’m thinking i want some Einstein’s bagels now…

You are not crazy with the Bagel Shmear… you can have flavored bagels WITH flavored cream cheese. My fav guilty mix is Honey Almond Shmear on Cinnamon Sugar bagel.

Never had wisdom teeth out – they want to take them but I won’t let them! I don’t want surgery :(

Reply

Packed lunch, I always loved my Mom’s homemade chocolate chip cookies and my special Friday treat – chocolate milk :)
Date day with my hubby, Sunday brunch and reading more Gossip Girl,
Still have my wisdom teeth!

Reply

You forgot about getting together with all of your amazing friends! DID YOU SEE THAT I GOT TO SEE JULIA YESTERDAY??? Omg, it made me think of all the wonderful girls (ahem, YOU!) in Utah and how I can’t wait to visit again!!! :)

Reply

I had a packed lunch everyday from K-12! It was ALWAYS the same thing (I’m not one who loves change :) ) Turkey or ham sandwich, a bag of chips, an apple (cut up of course), Oreos, and a water! I of course lived for the Oreos! I would savor everyone of them!

And I also LOVED dunkaroos! So yummy! And Im 24 and still haven’t had my wisdom teeth out… I’m too scared to!

Reply

I LOVE LOVE strawberry cream cheese on my bagels (and it’s actually delicious on homemade waffles too..) I totally got made fun of for it when I was little but nothing would have gotten between me and my love for strawberry cream cheese… I have also been having some serious bagel cravings and it has been my go-to weekend brunch choice :)

Reply

I have 5 wisdom teeth and I haven’t had em out yet. And I am old, so I think I might just keep them!
I love fruit snacks. I love gushers. It’s amazing that I have ANY teeth!

Reply

You have NO idea how many times my sister and I reminisce about Dunkaroos. I didn’t think they still made them. Seriously. Best lunch box treat ever! My mom packed my lunch and she would give me a tupperware with cold cereal in it (and then I would pay the $0.25 for milk to pour on top) with handi-snacks, dunkaroos, and usually some sort of hostess treat. WHO packs a lunch like that? And how do I NOT have diabetes??

I am looking forward to game night with the fam.

I got my wisom teeth out when I was 21. Right before spring break. Talk about awesome planning on my behalf!

Reply

Love those fruit strips. Apple is definitely my favorite.

Every once in a blue moon I had a packed lunch, but usually I had school lunch. We were poor so I got it for free!

Things I’m looking forward to this weekend. A long run on Saturday (since I’m almost 6 months pregnant this means 7 miles though), a hike with the hubby and kids on Saturday, church on Sunday, and lots of R&R.

I just saw a recipe in a magazine for Macaroni and Cheese with Butternut Squash — I have a butternut squash coming in my organic vegetable delivery tomorrow, so I’m going to use it for that.

Here’s the link to the recipe:

Happy (almost) Friday!

Reply

Dunkaroos were the best! I also used to love the unique lunchables, like mini pizzas or hot dogs. There were also those pretzel sticks you could dunk into the cheese… those were great too.

Reply

Best mac n cheese EVER = Pioneer Woman, so freaking good! (not at all healthy though, but I got a “this is PHENOMENAL” from my Hus) http://thepioneerwoman.com/cooking/2009/04/macaroni-cheese/

And the best bagel/cream cheese combo is the cinnamon crunch bagel + honey maple cream cheese from Panera aahhh bliss!

I apparently have a lot of extra teeth and/or some very bad teeth genetics. To explain:

1) I had my four wisdom teeth out when I was 18. All four of them were impacted, so I had to be put under for the procedure and I looked like a chipmunk for an entire week afterwards. The positive from the experience, though, was that I was REQUIRED to stuff myself silly in the days leading up to the surgery. Also, in the days afterwards I enjoyed being able to eat nonstop ice cream and pudding and yogurt with absolutely no guilt whatsoever. Thankfully, I am lactose tolerant. =)

2) I had to get another four teeth pulled out when I went through orthodontic treatment because of overcrowding issues. Not surprisingly, the man who conducted the procedure (I think they are called exodontists) met pretty much every image you’ve ever conjured up for the type of professional that does this type of stuff on a daily basis (very goth, lots of piercings, etc.)

Here’s hoping that I won’t be getting any more teeth removed ever again!

Reply

I mostly bought lunch in elementary school. When I did bring a packed lunch, my favorites were peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and fruit rolls. I still love both of those. My favorite things about weekend are: spending more time with DH and our girls; being able to run at my leisure and not rushing to get a run in at 5:00 a.m. and then rushing to work; and having time to cook.

Is Billy going to law school? I’m a real estate lawyer and am always interested in hearing about others wanting to get into this crazy profession.

Reply

dunkaroos are THE best! But I found out where to find them. . the dollar store in provo!! when I heard that I was probably way too excited! After I cracked my head open in 8th grade I do not remember the little things from when I was way little (not like I am old now. . 22)- – its sad

Reply

I don’t think the bagel combo is weird at all- but I am going to suggest that you make that a strawberry cream cheese and PB bagel next time. Just trust me.. it’s sounds weird but it’s amazing!

Reply

I LOVE plucking my eyebrows! Haha. Seriously though.

Reply

I’d say enjoy the eating out NOW, cause it doesn’t happen that much after law school! It’s funny, no one told me lawyers don’t really make a lot for the early years of practice! I WISH I could eat out more!!

Reply

Raisins are grapes and strawberries and grapes are good together so strawberry cream cheese & cinn raisin bagel is not weird at all! BTW, I was still eating Dunkaroos up until a couple years ago. Saving 90% of the frosting til the end is a must!

Reply

Dunkaroos. . . holy cow flash back! I also loved Elfkins cookies. Did you ever eat those? Chocolate shortbread cookies in the shape of the kebler elves. :) I loved pizza day at school (who didn’t?) and also really liked the fried fish patty (remember they were in the shape of a rectangle) with white rolls and mashed potatoes. Seriously… what a healthy lunch for an elementary kid!

Reply

Holy bagelyummness!!! now I must have one !

Reply

Cinnamon raisin bagels with strawberry cream cheese are AWESOME. Don’t let Billy tell you otherwise.
I worked at a bagel shop this summer and one kid came in all the time for blueberry bagels with garlic and herb cream cheese–THAT’S weird.

Reply

I had my wisdom teeth out at 16.. i cried and cried and bled and drooled. That was the worst.

But I love Dunkaroos!! I was home schooled so I never got to pack lunches, but whenever I had those things I was soooo happy!!

Reply

I’m a fan of Smitten Kitchen’s take on Martha Stewart’s mac and cheese:

Reply

I always bought lunch, elementary through highschool. I actually had a lunch “punch card.” But on the rare occassion that my parents did pack me a lunch, I loved Teddy Grahams and the little pretzel sticks that you dip in cheese.

This weekend I’m looking forward to girls night with wine and football, and teaching Sunday School to our 3-year-old class!

As for wisdom teeth, I only have one (as far as my dentist can tell from x-rays), and he doesn’t think it will ever erupt. So hopefully I’ll never have to deal with them! *crosses fingers*

And strawberry cream cheese is THE BEST, I don’t care what kind of bagel you eat it on!

Reply

THEY STILL MAKE THOSE FROSTING DUNKY THINGS?!?!! Shut the front door!!!!!

Reply

As I read the word “Gushers” my mouth started to salivate a little bit…is that weird? lol And i love those fruit strips too, totally delicious and fruit, duh, so obviously healthy :)

Reply

I have a super yummy recipe for homemade mac-n-cheese…it’s so good, we call it crack-n-cheese. I’ve always made it with Pepper Jack so it ends up being a little spicy–a fun twist on an old classic. I can email it to you if you want!

I pretty much live for weekends. Although school/research is kinda cramping my style (and my Saturday morning runs!). But after all the research is over and done, I pack up a little overnight bag (i.e., a reusable grocery bag), watch Raleigh get smaller in my rearview mirror, and head to Durham to see friends. Weekends seriously keep me going. :)

Reply

Yes yes yes!!!! I would love you to email me the recipe!

Reply

I sent it!! Let me know if it didn’t go through!

Reply

I am so glad I’m not the only one that looks forward to wearing comfy clothes ALL weekend long. I look forward to wearing leggings and sweats for 2 days straight and not trying to look pretty. :)

I love those fruit snacks too but I usually eat like 5 at a time. WHOOPSIES.

I miss Dunkaroos! I used to eat those all the time as a kid.

Reply

Those fruit strips look good where do you find those??

Reply

Costco! They are amazing!

Reply

We were required to eat lunch at school and couldn’t bring food, it was paid for by our tuition… lame. This weekend I’m excited to KICK ASS on my 10 mile long run and get Indian food with my cousin on Saturday night. And who is going to law school!?!?!??

Reply

My hubby hooked me on Fruit Leather almost 10 years ago. Isn’t it awesome!?

My favorite lunch to take to school was cheese, crackers, and pepperoni slices. And those Little Debbie brownies. Once in awhile, I’ll get a hankering for the brownies and nothing else will take its place.

One of my favorite Mac and Cheese Recipe’s. NO butter, NO cream, and NO Velveeta in the recipe.

This weekend is the first long run weekend in my 1st half marathon training! Cherry Blossom run (Washington DC) in the beginning of April and La Jolla Half Marathon the end of April :)

I love that you have such a special relationship with your nieces and nephew! I never had a close relationship with my aunts and uncle. What a blessing:)

Reply

Looking forward to:
1. Not having to make the 1.5 hour drive each way to and from work.
2. Not having to drive in the snow.
3. Sleeping in (which means like 7am for me!)
4. Church
5. Hanging with husband

We don’t really have plans this weekend, so that’s all I’ve got haha! But those are good enough for me!

Reply

1.5 hours each way??? That sounds horrible! I just saw that and had to comment!!;-)

Reply

Fruit By The Foot! Yess!! Loved those!!
And Nutty Bars! And ho-hos. And of course oatmeal cream pies. Pudding cups were pretty rad too. Still are. I loved this question, btw. :)

I had my wisdom teeth out when I was 18, and I was one of the unlucky few who got “dry-sockets”. Those things were extremely painful.

I hope you sleep in lots of extra hours and have an awesome long run. Enjoy plucking your brows too:) xoxx

I’m kinda with Billy on this one. I like plain cream cheese on flavoured bagels and flavoured cream cheese on plain bagels. It used to really annoy me when my brothers used to dip flavoured potato chips into chip dip. Weird.

When I was little I hated cold sandwiches, so I used to walk home every day and my Mom would make me a hot lunch. Spoiled much? Then she went back to work and I complained about her lunches so my Dad started making my lunch, which was better because he’d always put good snacks in there. BUT, he started to test me to see if I was actually eating my sandwich and he’d hide something weird in my sandwich and if I didn’t comment on it when he got home then he’d know I didn’t eat my lunch!! (he’d put a peanut in the middle of a ham sandwich or put a pickle slice in the middle of a peanut butter sandwich type thing) He was tricky!! Then I had to start dissecting my sandwiches before I threw them away. I still don’t like cold sandwiches to this day!!!

I had my wisdom teeth out my senior year of high school – got to stay home for a whole week!!

Reply

strawberry cream cheese sounds AMAZING to me on a cinnamon raisin bagel! billy is the crazy one. ;)

Reply

Love this post. You and I are feeling the same about the weekends right now for sure!
Pretty sure I have made a list of every food that has caught my eye in the past week, and I am committed to fitting them ALL into this weekend’s meals and snacks. I cannot tell you how oddly exciting it was to make the eats list for the weekend. You were the bagel and cream cheese inspiration and I cannot wait. (Strawberry on CR, not my first pick, but not weird at all)
Almost there Janae, we can do this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Reply

I used to love Dunkaroos! When I saw that picture I thought you were going to say they sell them again… haha

Reply

I LOOOOVVEEEEEEDDD DUNKAROOOS!!!!!!! :) Besides dunkaroos, I loved fruit snacks, pudding cups, and occasionally a pizza lunchable.

Reply

i am now seriously contemplating running to shop rite to go buy dunakroos. in my pajamas. and slippers. and soaking wet hair. in freezing conditions.

also, a cinnamon raisin bagel is the ONLY good bagel catalyst for for strawberry cream cheese (well, maybe not the only but definitely the best!!)

Skinnytaste.com has basically the best recipes in the universe.
Her recipe for mac’n’cheese is amazing…and I am a super snob about mac’n’cheese.
http://www.skinnytaste.com/2010/05/lighter-baked-macaroni-and-cheese.html
There’s also one that has broccoli in it.
So yummy!

*In my lunch every day as a kid, my mom would pack a single caramel twix. They actually had single packs! Such deliciousness – although I obviously would have loved more than one.

*This weekend = my longest training run for the DC Rock’n’Roll (9 miles)…we’ll see how that goes!

Reply

I had forgotten about Dunkaroos..my son would probably love them. He loves frosting.

Reply

I never got Dunkaroos…too unhealthy for my mom, I guess. Which is weird because we did get Nutty Buddies and Cosmic Brownies…HMM

I don’t have a dessert recipe for ya, but I found a bar you will LOVE. Emailing you now.

Reply

-I had a packed lunch every day except for pizza day TOO!!! and my favorites were gushers and lunchables!!!!

DANCE IT OUT is on the top of my list for saturday mornings! SOOOOO MUCH FUN!!!

I was the wee ol’ little age of 15 when I got those smart puppies cut out!

HOCKEY! always my favorite thing I was in my late 20’s with the wisdom teeth. And I don’t remember about the lunches much. I do remember bringing soup in a thermos.

that bagel looks SO good. I bought french toast bagels at the store today. that’s a first. never seen them before! they actually taste like french toast. fun:-)

Reply

I had my wisdom out two weeks ago. It was a very traumatic experience for me. I did not get dry socket, but I got VERY ILL after the surgery and I ended up back in the hospital for the weekend, because I could not stop getting sick. It was horrible, but I am on the up and up now! I also LOVE dunkaroos and I always get them whenever I see them! :D

Reply

loved dunkaroos! I’m off work tomorrow and looking forward to hanging out with Billy and going for a bike ride. It’s going to be sunny and 74 degrees!

Reply

There is nothing weird about that bagel combination!

My mom packed me a lunch everyday of my school career and it was glorious.

Reply

Oh DUNKAROOS!!!! Wow, those were my absolute favorite in school! I actually have started making cookie dough/cake batter dip lately, and eating it with animal crackers. You need to make some. Now.

My reasons for looking forward to this weekend – ITS MY BIRTHDAY!!! Eating out with friends, presents, BIRTHDAY CAKE!, a good run if the weather shapes up, 56 hours of sweaty ponytail and I DON”T CARE!

19 when the teeth came out. Horrible experience.

Reply

OMG I need some dunkaroos like right now, haha.

I (well, my mom) packed lunch most days in elementary school, unless there were mashed potatoes because the school cook made AMAZING mashed potatoes. To this day if I happen to taste something that comes close I kind of freak out. :)

Reply

Oh my gosh, Dunkaroos have got fancy since I was a kid!!

Reply

I had my wisdom teeth removed in the 9th grade and I always ate school lunches. It was never my thing to brown bag it. I never liked the idea of my lunch sitting in my stale locker for hours before eating it.
My Top 5 for the Weekend:
5. No Makeup
4. Sleeping In
3. Plan for next week’s lessons
2. Long Run
1. Longer Rest

Reply

Ahh i LOVED dunkaroos!!! esp the chocolate cookies w the vanilla sprinkles icing. grownup dunkaroos= those little packets of nutella/breadsticks. have you seen them?

never had to get my wisdom teeth out! i feel very lucky!

Reply

-I too have almost always packed my lunch! My mom used to pack me a PB&J every day, and almost every day I would throw most of it away so I could hurry up and get to recess. I feel horrible for how much food I wasted now!
-This weekend I get to meet my boyfriend’s new baby nephew! EEeee!!!
-I am lucky and just have one wisdom tooth that’s way up there and mostly likely will never have to get it removed. Yay!

Reply

Cinnamon Rasin Bagels are my favsies. Like for real, if I could eat one EVERYDAY I might just have to. I’m 17 and still haven’t had them out. Praying I never have to!

Reply

My sweet mom Packed my lunch everyday. Ummm I’ve never had dunkaroos, fruit roll ups, or gushers… Shameful?
I had my wisdom teeth out last yr at the same time/office as 2 of my students… Yeh… We bonded.

Reply

I love reading your blog! I haven’t thought about Dunkaroos in years! Let me know if you get lucky and find them! What a blast from the past!

Reply

My son wanted a blueberry bagel with egg and cheese last night. Ewww, but he loved that sucker. I ate school lunch always, but my kids are like you and get the pizza lunch!

Reply

Dunkaroos were SO GOOD, but I always thought they could give you more frosting. Hint Hint…keep extra large frosting container in fridge : )

Reply

Gushers and Goldfish. Two things that I will NEVER stop loving no matter how old I get!

Reply

I wouldn’t call myself a bagel lover, but I really want that one!

This weekend I’m looking forward to: Costco (my dad got us a membership for Christmas, and I’m in love), taking our dog to the dog park and a long run on Sunday.

Reply

Billy is wrong. Cinnamon raisin and strawberry sounds AHMAZing!!! I loved those Shark fruit snacks because we always thought it was so awesome if you found a great white one in your pack! One of these also pulled out a loose tooth of my at school one day. And then they started making them softer. Not because of me, but I like to pretend that tons of other kids were having this same issue. :) haha

Reply

I brought my lunch EVERY DAY. This led me to believe there was something wrong with the cafeteria food and to this day I am still scared to eat it. I am a kindergarten teacher and when I see other teachers buy food from the cafeteria it kinda grosses me out. I know it’s probably all just in my head, but oh well. Still bring my lunch every day ;). In elementary school I LOVED gushers, the cheese and crackers combo where you get the lil red stick to spread the cheese, fruit by the foot, dunkaroos, reese’s peanut butter cups, and that’s all I remember for now. Now that I think about it, it probably would’ve been healthier for me to eat in the cafeteria as a kid…haha ;)

10 things to look forward to this weekend? Mine might look similar to yours and it’s probably because we’re both teachers!!

1. SLEEPING IN (Saturday and Sunday.. I look forward to this all week!)
2. Comfy clothes
3. Rest day on Saturday and Turbo Kick Boxing on Sunday. I am trying out a new location of the gym I go to and a new instructor!
4. Running some errands and crossing some stuff off of my to do list that never seems to end!
5. the END PRODUCT of cleaning and laundry and grocery shopping. I don’t usually enjoy the process but enjoy the end product of all of the above!
6. Love my students dearly, but also enjoy my time away from them ;)
7. Possible dinner or hanging out with my mom and/or sister and nephews
8. Having “snack time” with some friends. As a teacher, I like to refer to happy hour as my “snack time” ;)
9. Clean hair…no I’m not a weirdo or gross, I just have dry/thick hair and don’t need to wash it but every couple days… ;) I always wash it on Friday nights…Okay maybe I am weird
10. Finishing up a DIY project for a piece of furniture in my living room :)

I currently still have all 4 wisdom teeth in and I’m 26! Is that werid???:) Several years ago my dentist asked me if they were hurting and I told him I didn’t even know that they had came in. Apparently I have smaller teeth and a bigger mouth and had room for them! They actually helped push all my teeth closer together in a good way!

Just wanted to say I really enjoy reading your blog! I’ve been reading it regularly now for a while I just don’t think I’ve ever really commented…. I enjoy your witty posts and general positive outlook on life! :))

Reply

Your comments MADE MY DAY!! Thank you so so much! I want to send you a box of gushers. AHHH clean hair for me too! We are so alike. I agree about the students part, sometimes I need a break for them…like every 5 days. BAHAHAH Snack time will be a blast. I wonder if you will ever have to get them taken out?! I worked at a sushi restaurant in college too! I need to try the chocolate chip bagel with strawberry cream cheese…YUM!

Reply

as if I didn’t already type enough? Just wanted to say your bagel/cream cheese combo is NOT weird… I worked at a sushi restaurant in college and I went through a phase for a couple months where I’d stop by Einstein Bros Bagels every Friday morning before work and going into my lunch shift and get a chocolate chip bagel and strawberry cream cheese….they have the best bagels and cream cheese!!

Reply

Wow, dunkaroos bring back memories!!! I loved those things. What’s NOT to love about the weekend? Holy crap I need to pluck my eyebrows too. Thank goodness you reminded me.
I hated the food served at school so I always had it packed. I asked for a PB&J sandwich every.single.day. I still love PB and I’m really not sure how.
I’m running a trail race sat morning, seeing my old friends for one of their birthdays!
My wisdom teeth are still coming in. We thought I had no room, but they are slowly pushing themselves through. Darn.

Reply

I haven’t thought about dunkaroos in forever! They were awesome! And I also remember those juice drinks in plastic bottles and they came out with color changing ones that you put a tablet in to change the color! I also got school lunch on days when they had hot ham and cheese and chicken nuggets!

Reply

I loved dunkaroos too, but gushers were and still are THE BOMB!!!

I’m looking forward to actually getting to see my husband for more than 5 minutes a day and going to our new small group.

I was 19 when I had my wisdom teeth removed – they were all impacted, and I had FIVE – I’m extra wise hahaha.

Reply

GORGEOUS GIRL!!! My comment on your blog went to spam…save me! I am so happy you get to see the husband lots this weekend. ENJOY!

Reply

I was in love with dunkaroos as a child – I was not a huge fan of gushers, the commercials grossed me out ….
My mom is amazing and packed me a lunch everyday. I hated change as a child so I insisted on the same thing for lunch everyday – Cheese Whiz on crackers. I have had enough of Premium Plus crackers for a lifetime!!
Some of my top things happening this weekend:
1. 13km long run
2. Staff sushi party!!!
3. Catching up on the Biggest Loser (I am so addicted to Dolvette)

Reply

Cheese whiz……um, we still eat that sometimes oops:) I am so addicted to Dolvette too. A staff sushi party…I am so so jealous! HAVE A BLAST!

I’m with you! Our temps have been VERY cold here in Calgary this week (about -22F I think is what it converts to?) and it’s supposed to get up over 0 C and even in the pluses this weekend! So I’m thinking Sunday = Runday because it’ll be the nicest day yet; I’ve been jumping rope (no machines or gym access for me) and doing lots of high intensity strength training sessions this week. Should be fun!

And one more thing: GUSHERS! Oh yea, my brother and I loved those. ;) Thanks for the memory! Happy (almost) weekend!

My mom always packed our lunches, but the dessert was pretty boring, either 3 Oreos or 3 of the hard chocolate chip cookies. At the top of my top ten list this weekend is the chance to run with my local running group. Hoping the weather is good! I had my wisdom teeth taken out when I was 18. ::Shudder:: It still grosses me out.

Oh goodness Dunkaroos are myfavorite! Is that funfetti frosting??? Why haven’t I tried this variety yet! Also thank you for having a regular size bagel instead of a bagel thin- go big or go home! I knew I liked you for a reason! I’m looking forward to sushi tonight..finally!

Oh my heck girl. I’ve been stalking you forevs and never commenting…I know, my bad. I had to comment on this post though – I think we might be blogger soul mates, except for the part where you run like a cheetah and I…well…don’t. The hubs should know that nothing goes better with a cinnamon raisin bagel than strawberry cream cheese (the best combo is Einsteins cinnamon sugar bagel with strawberry – you know, for the added sugar bonus).

Just thought I’d let you know I love the blog – I’m not a runner but I read it anyways. You are hilarious, thanks for always giving me a daily laugh!

KERI!!!! Oh my goodness, your comment made my morning. Thank you so much! We are soul mates:) Okay…now I have to go to Einsteins this weekend for a cinnamon sugar bagel with cream cheese….I am drooling. I hope you have a fabulous weekend and keep in touch!

My boyfriend would have that bagel/cheese mix. Me, not so much! I love your #10, made me laugh b/c it’s so true. On my list for the weekend would be spending more time with my boyfriend (he works pretty long hours during the week) and spending time with him means less of doing routine stuff, going for longer runs together & seeing friends :)

I always knew i was loved when i got the dunkaroos with the rainbow sprinkle/vanilla frosting! one of my dorm mates re-discovered them during my senior year of college and ordered bulk boxes for himself off of amazon! i thought he was crazy, but seeing your pic reminded me of all of my favorite childhood snacks… time to call the parents and thank them for letting me eat so much sugar (and then run it off around the playground)! :P my favorite were the fruit roll up (especially the pizza ones – where you cut out the “toppings” and put them on the “pizza” slices! #Epic

Oh my goodness….I totally had those fruit roll ups too and would spend so long making the perfect pizza. Life was so good:)

Never heard of Dunkaroos and not a fan of Fruit Gushers. I’m really old I guess!

I’m looking forward to taking my first Barre class. I should be sore in all the right places! And of course, I’m looking forward to sleeping in till 6 a.m.! Wa-hoo!!

I LOVE cinnamon bagels with strawberry cream cheese. not strange at all.
Also, So I’m a preschool teacher and one of my students brought in packs of gushers for everyone for a “special treat” – I was jealous. I loved them so much! Haven’t had them in years!

No joke – that exact bagel and cream cheese combination is one of my breakfast staples – so good!

I have been eating those bagel things lately and let me tell you, they are just not doing it for more!

Another favorite bagel combination is a blueberry bagel with house-made strawberry cream cheese from our bagel shop OR a egg and cheese sandwich – yes, still on the blueberry bagel, yum yum yum :)

Looking toward to family visiting from up north and going to the beach!! I was 24 when my wisdom teeth came out.

Oops…I still have my wisdom teeth in. My dad still has his, so when the dentist suggested they be pulled just as a precaution, I convinced my parents to just ignore it until needed. Now 15 years later I’m still fine! Knock on wood!

I LOOVE strawberry cream cheese! He wouldn’t think you’re weird if he tastes the deliciousness of it hahah. I was a school lunch buyer so no packed lunches for me :( Gushers were definitely up there as go-to at home snacks though!

I was craving mac & cheese with breadcrumbs on top SO BAD last week! Here’s how I make it. It’s more casserole style than creamy roulx(sp?) based. I use a smaller but deeper pyrex, like 10×8 or something dumb like that. I put the water/juice from a can of Italian seasoned diced tomatoes in the bottom of the greased pan, covering completely. Then add whole wheat elbow noodles to cover the bottom. Then a ton of shredded sharp cheddar cheese. Usually Cabot since I’m from VT. Then I cover the cheese with half the can of diced seasoned tomatoes. Then repeat. The top layer of noodles I cover in cheese then I cover the cheese with Italian style Progresso panko breadcrumbs. Bake for 30-45 minutes on 375. It’s sooooo goooooood and the breadcrumbs on top are so crispy and like garlic bread! Am I the only one who was super psyched about mac & cheese? :)

I’m reading this in the morning and that bagel looks so good. I’ve never heard of dunkaroos before. Looks interesting

Gushers were always my favorite! But I loved fruit by the foots and fruit rollups too. I didn’t have my wisdom teeth out till I was 24. But it wasn’t too bad, just really swollen cheeks. I’m looking forward to three days off work. sleeping in, having time to run, and extra time with the hubby : ) Hope you have a great weekend!

I love homemade mac and cheese. love. it. My kids are lame and like the boxed version better, where did I go wrong? I just make a simple white sauce and then add as much cheese as I can stir in and get to melt. I recently made this with cornflakes mixed with melted butter on the top and then baked in the oven for a few minutes – divine! I figured that it works for funeral potatoes it would be delish on mac and cheese. I was right. Try it you will never go back to bread crumbs. I guess the good thing about my kids not liking homemade mac and cheese is that I get to eat half (I have to share with my husband).

I’m totes looking forward to sleeping in [till 7AM] haha ;P My internal clock doesn’t let me sleep much later… And a trip to Costco!

My momma always used to pack my lunch when I was in elementary [and middle and high] school :D Usually it had a PB [no jelly, made the bread soggy] sandwich and some sides such as Pringles, Fig Newtons, some type of fruit and veggie, anddd something else?!

I had my wisdom teeth out when I was in high school [can’t remember the age] and remember wearing a pair of pantyhoes with a bag of frozen peas shoved in both legs :P My mom to this day will tell people about how out of it I was the first day and how I took the gauze out of my mouth and was deliriously walking around the house with blood oozing out of my mouth *gasp*!
