The best dessert this side of the Mississippi.

I know I say this all of the time but yesterday was one of my favorite days ever.  Maybe life just gets better and better and so I am not even exaggerating when I say it is my new favorite day.

We started off the night with watching a little Wheel of Fortune (my second favorite game show) and then we headed off for a little Costa Vida action.  Remember how we went out with my Dad last weekend? This weekend my mom is here and my dad went to go help out a brother with their new baby and so we had a date with my mom.

We let the little nephew come along too and this is what they did when I asked them to get together for a picture.

For the meat I had half chicken and half sweet pork….note to self:  get 100% pork next time, it tastes like candy.

Photo 1 copy 3

I had to zoom in on that dressing.  It is a passion fruit dressing that once again tastes like candy.  Candy plus salad?!?!  They designed this with me in mind.

After we hung out talking for a while we NEEDED dessert, must be genetic.  My mom wanted some sort of baked good and I wanted ice cream.  I had heard about a place called ‘The Chocolate’ and how amazing it was so we decided to branch out and try it.  The chocolate cafe is in an old house that was absolutely adorable, if I knew a thing about interior design I would tell you about it but I don’t so just take my word for it, it was really cute.

Billy was too full (I know, I shook my head too) and my nephew got a chocolate carmel cupcake.

My mom and I were brilliant and went with the cazookie.  Sorry you Cali/Arizona peeps but this was even BETTER than BJ’s pazookie.  The cookie was thicker and a lot gooier.  If you live in the area, you really have to go here and better yet…invite me.

I told Billy that the above heaven is all I want for my birthday.  That’s it.

Off for the Saturday long run.  Man, even typing that makes me happy.

oh my word that cookie looks TO DIE FOR! i bought some nestle toll house choc chip cookie dough last night and it makes me want to bake one giant cookie and go and buy some vanilla ice cream. to answer your second question….i think yes a long run would be necessary then ;) haha!

my friday night was lame / went grocery shopping and to bed early!

hoping to run 7 miles today

Reply

I ate a bunch of cake last night (my birthday weekend!) so I will probably do a run, but not much more than 6 or 7.
That cazookie looks so good! I also discovered a new favorite dessert a couple days ago and it makes me giddy knowing I can go and get it whenever I want.

hahaha candy on a salad sounds like a plan to me! Or just candy on fro yo… that works too.

Reply

That dessert makes me feel like a deprived child- carbo loading at its finest! And I thought the tiramisu fro yo I had last night hit the spot!

Reply

ok, i’m flying out there now because that looks delicious and i need to try it.

the new greek place we tried on our thursday date night..yum yum yum

Friday night was cleaning, blogging, eating, listening to music and playing video games. i live on the wild side.

im heading out for a long run too! 12 miles, just keeping up my base for when marathon training starts.

p.s. i had some thin mints just now and thought to myself..this could be considered carb loading ;)

have a great run!

And I thought the cazooki looks incredible!! Long run today yes! The second one on my way to my May marathon!

That dessert looks so good :)

I am about to get up and on the dreadmill for a 5k. I am training for my half..but I HATE the dreadmill.

Reply

I’ve had something like that here in Canada, I just can’t remember where!! It was so warm and gooey, and was filled with a lava chocolate filling, and topped with ice cream. Droooool!

Reply

I want that cookie. My long run is 16 miles today – prob gonna be part outdoors, part treadmill…training for Gansett marathon in April!!! I might try to find a half in between now and then, but it’s pretty cold. I dont like that. Happy long run!!!

Reply

That dessert looks absolutely amazing. I’m so jealous. A warm, monstrous chocolate chip cookie topped with vanilla ice cream??? That’s perfection, in my book!!

I think I’m just doing 5 miles today, but I’m excited to run in my new shoes!!

Reply

Mmm that pazookie looks amazing. I want one for breakfast! Have to work today so my long run will be tomorrow…it will be my last one before the Surf City half next weekend! :)

Reply

I’m up early to do my long run, too! Ten miles. I’m officially training for the NYC half in March but I’m running the Surf City half next weekend here. And, since I live in LA, now all I will think about during this long run is a pizookie.

Reply

I can’t remember the last time we went to a new place to be honest. But THANKS, now I want a cazookie. 10 miles today, if I ever get out the front door. And 4 weeks until the AZ half marathon!

I love trying new places and I can thank Groupon meal deals for this! Headed out for a long run when the sun rises, am WAY too excited for it (hence being up before the sunrise on a Saturday)…shooting for 20 miles.

Reply

Ummm I live on the same side of the Mississippi as you and you haven’t tried St. Louis Gooey Butter Cake…just sayin’.

My aunt, cousin and I are trying every sushi restaurant we can find in STL so I’ve been doing a grand tour of all of those, all new to me and so far…let’s just say it’s sort of a mixed bag experience ;)

I’m running 16 miles today, woohoo! And the sun came out for my run too :)

My parents came into town for the weekend (race weekend for my mom, sister, and I). I cooked dinner for them and we watched a little tv, very low key.

I need to find more places that have kick butt salads like you eat!

No long run today, DOR. Race day tomorrow. I’m all of a sudden super nervous!

Reply

My favorite dessert is rice pudding.. which by the way I am making right now. Tomorrow I might run 30k, unless it is freezing out there. I am training for the longest distance, 100 miles, in UTMB 2013. I have to find some ultra race this year, but haven’t decided yet what to do

Reply

You win. That’s crazy. (you kind of lose me with the rice pudding though…)

Reply

Wow, you are up early! Headed out for 20mi for the National Marathon on March 17. Eeek!

Reply

Guess what, I’ve never had a pazookie or a cazookie or any kind of -ookie :P They looks tasty though- if and whenever I make it out to the west coast we’ll have to get one [each]!

Reply

Ahh that dessert looks AMAZING!!!
I’m trying out a new restaurant for lunch today and am quite excited! I’ve heard great things about it!
Last night I went to a local church’s community dinner and served them grilled cheese as a part of an organization I’m in at school! It was very fun and a refreshingly different Friday night activity!

Reply

oh my gosh – I want that dessert right now! I just finished my weekly long run – 12 miles, as training for the Big Sur Marathon in April. Usually I do my long runs on Sundays, but it feels great to be done with it so early in the weekend!

Reply

That dessert looks AMAZING! I must find it in the DC area now….
I love Friday nights…I hung out with a few friends from work then came home and fell asleep within minutes. wonderful.
Have a great run!

Reply

I was super cool on Friday night– I met a friend at the gym and then we went and grabbed sushi afterwards. I was home and in bed by 10pm! :)

Reply

I need to find more dessert places!

Last night we did our taxes (yay gettin $ back!) and watched the Winter X Games!

opps I’m late for the gym!

Reply

Wow, if that’s better than a pizookie, then I must get my butt in the car and take a road trip there stat. I used to work at BJ’s and I loved taking those bad boys to go. Mostly because I got to scoop the ice cream myself and would always get wayyyy extra. I hope you have a good long run today. Refuel with some chocolate later!

Reply

I have my long run tmrw :) 11 miles for half marathon whoop!

& mmm that cazookie looks so good

Reply

6 miles planned for today! It’s mild and sunny today in Philly, so I can’t wait to get out there!!!!! I’m prepping for a half marathon in April :)

Hope you have a fabulous long run today :)

Reply

Oh, that place sounds good, and cute! I love places that are situated in old houses; there is a place like that called Rutabegorz in SoCal that I love to eat at!

No long run for me…Best of luck with yours though!

Reply

Ohhhh that cozookie (or whatever it’s called, too lazy to scroll back up!) looks AMAZING! Sadly we don’t have that many places to eat where I live (it’s pretty small) so usually I end up having to try and make the yummy looking things I see on your blog :-P

Today = first run in a week.. I’ve been barely able to get off the couch from a flare up in a back injury. I can finally move a little today, so I think I’m going to try an easy run. SO excited for it- anyone out there who is a runner and has back spasms: if you’re out for a week and can’t move, don’t read Runner’s World, Dean Karnazes 50/50 and running blogs while you’re out, as tempting as it may be. It makes you want DESPERATELY to run while unable to move. Torture! But it’s sure going to make today’s run sweeeet :)

Reply

oh my goodness, please inform me of where this “The Chocolate” place is pronto! i’ve been looking for a place out here in utah that serves a pizookie type dessert since we moved here… sounds amazing! just the title of the restaurant itself makes me happy. :)

Reply

My friend Angie owns The Chocolate. She used to be in my ward. Ya. All ward functions that involved dessert were bomb thanks to her (they used from it out of their basement before the cute house).

Have fun on your run today!

Reply

I wanted to try that place when I was there over Christmas but it didn’t happen. The best pizookie I ever had was at a place in Arizona called Oregano’s. I was super disappointed when I tried the ones at BJ’s because nothing could compare. The big difference is that they cook theirs in a cast iron deep dish pizza pan! You can to buy yourself a mini skillet and try it yourself. You’ll never go out for one again!

Reply

That looks like heavennn. Cookie + ice cream? Yummm. I have a long run on my half marathon training plan. It’s supposed to be 12 miles but I may just do 10, not sure yet!

Reply

I LOVE the Chocolate! I’d make my husband take me all the time when we lived in Provo. We’d get half chocolate chip and half macadamia. Sooo good!!

Reply

So jealous of that dessert!

My friend and I tried this place called Seasons 52 last week. The menu changes with the seasons, and the specials change every week. I had the salmon, which was OK, but my friend had a ridiculously good BBQ salad…definitely have to head back!

Reply

That salad looks awesome! But only second to the gooey cookie.

Reply

I bet that cookie was the best fuel for your long run today……and you are out rockin it as I type. You seem like you are maybe in the “bust out the dance moves around mile 6” kind of mood today!

Ran 10 this morning, and it is for the sub 2 half I want to do this spring, now just need to pick one out to sign up for.

Reply

Must.have.that.cookie.now!

Reply

now all I can think about is a chocolate chip cookie with ice cream!!! or i’d settle for some froyo… Long run was yesterday – following it today with some 400s at the track with the hubs and a nice little gym sesh where I plan on getting my butt kicked…

Reply

Oh my gosh that dessert looks AMAZING, perfect fueling for a long run! I hope it went well.

I did 14 miles on the treadmill due to very icy roads. Training for a marathon at the end of April:-)

Reply

Long run this morning was 20 miles and now it’s taper time! 2nd marathon in 3 weeks!! :)

Reply

That dessert looks awesome! Send one to TN for me please. :)

Last night was spent at the high school homecoming basketball games – my cheerleaders performed their routine and everyone went nuts because it was awesome! I’m so proud to coach them.

The last new to me place that I tried was a sushi place in Memphis – meh. Nothing like my Sakura!

Reply

I went to sub zero (ice cream) last night and before that I went to J Dawgs!! {I agree- Subway is better. I think it’s a guys think to like J Dawgs}

My Friday night involved a date- Space Date! We went to the planetarium and watched Star Wars after… yeah, it was totally awesome.

I’m dancing in a luau so I have 4 hours of training each week plus spinning class plus gym time so I’m a leetle (read: a lot) sore so I’m only gonna do a mile or two today.

Have fun on your long run!

Reply

I’ll have one of those desserts please. My Friday night was lazy–take-out, movie, and lounging around at home. It was a longgg week!

Happy Weekend! :)

Reply

I just finished my 18 miler in prep for the austin marathon! I’m on such a high right now, I hope you have a good run too :)

Reply

My best work friends hosted my baby shower at The Chocolate last year! Best decision ever! And I got to pick whatever I wanted off the menu. I couldn’t decide so I chose about 5 things.
I took my dog with me on my long run this morning but I froze my buns off!

Reply

Dessert is my favorite part! I did 2 miles on the treadmill today – not a long run, but it was my longest run of the week! I just joined a new gym, so I’ve been taking advantage if all the fitness classes, and neglecting running!

Reply

What is your first favorite game show?
I’m pretty sure that cazookie is the best name ever for a dessert.

Reply

that looks delicious! those carbs sure will be good for your long run.

long run today= half marathon with an 8 minute PR (1:39)

Friday night I babysat my 2 year old nephew and it was the best!

I’m taking my hubby out on a date tonight to a new (new to us) restaurant! We are trying to go new places & branch out as well.

Guess what?!? I registered for my first ever half marathon! <3 I'm so excited! Today I ran/walked 2.4 miles & I'm just taking it a day at a time!

I hope you have a wonderful weekend doll!

That salad is calling my name!

I PR’ed again today! ( I beat my PR from RnR AZ two weeks ago by 2 minutes and 40 seconds!) Whoo hoo!

Reply

omg its like a cookie cake with ice cream on top….does it get better?? I love the passion fruit dressing idea too! YAY such good fuel for your long run! :)

Reply

Why is there not a place called “The Chocolate” in every city?

Reply

I was wondering if you are still liking your spin bike? I really want to get one- I love spin classes but not ready to take my baby to the gym yet.

Reply

HEY HEATHER!! I am still so in love with my spin bike…I think you should get one. I did a review about it that you can read:

Ooh yum! Have you ever been to a Chicago Uno? I am not sure if they have any in Utah, but they have a deep dish cookie sundae that looks similar. It is amazing!

I have a 12 mile run tomorrow. Training for my first marathon on April 15th!

Reply

MEGAN!! Good luck on your run tomorrow and you are going to rock your first marathon in APRIL…so so excited for you!

Reply

OHHHHH Janae, why must you tell me about the cazookie!!! AND to know that they have BJ’s in Arizona, I am going there this next weekend :) I have switched to Costa Vida too, it’s just so delicious and waaaay healthier than that Rio place ;) I hope your long run was wonderful!

Reply

Salad + dessert…I like how you think! Sounds like a fun night!

Friday nite I was lame and did nothing…early morning Benchmark race/spring training kickoff event with my running group. Paced my group for the 10k then logged some more miles on my own. 9 miles total. 1 week til the Galveston Marathon…super excited!

Have u made the decision about running Marine Corps yet? You would crush that race! :-)

I have a friend who won`t have anything sweet in her main course/entree and rarely ever eats dessert. For me, things can not be sweet enough, so I like to think of Candy and Salad! Reading your blog makes me instantly hungry always…. and I just had a huge Pizza and Tiramisu.

Reply

omg, that dessert looks amazing. My mouth is watering. My favorite dessert in the whole world is either that (a warm cooke a la mode) or a warm brownie a la mode. Heaven.

My Friday night was awesome. Stuck at the hospital working from 8pm to 8 am ….I know, I know, I hate to brag about my awesome night like that…..try not to be too jealous! ; )

Since I JUST woke up now, debating about going for along run.

Reply

Oregano’s in Phoenix has the BEST PIZZOKIE ever!!! BJ’s attempt fails in comparison.

Reply

I’ve never responded before, but I have to tell you we took a girls weekend up to BYU from PHX and went to the Chocolate three times!!! We also took some home to our husbands. We also had some shipped to AZ when a girlfriend got sealed in the temple. We are kinda obsessed with the Chocolate. The Pizzookie was good, but the Kitty Katrina is AMAZING!!

Reply

Ahhhhh I should have come with you!!!! Come again and we will go together:)

Reply

it’s only 9am but I could seriously eat that dessrt right now! it looks too delicious to pass up!

Reply

I ran 14 miles on Saturday as my long run (10 of them were super hilly for Virginia standards) in training for my first marathon, the Shamrock Marathon!! So pumped.
