Sushi for Lunch and an Awesome New Shirt

This would be our 3rd Costco trip in 3 days, just a little excessive.  Today we left with just three things of sushi.  We have had a strong craving for it and had to fulfill it.  The only problem was that each container only had 2 little containers of soy sauce.  Come on Costco, you know I use at least a packet on each piece of sushi…every grain of rice must be covered in the salty goodness.

Since that much sushi could not possibly fill up 3 adults for very long we cooked a pizza a little while later for a ‘snack.’

I managed to grab the pieces that had no olive remnants.

I forgot to show you one of Billy’s favorite presents from my mom:

Just call him Mr. HRG from now on.

Time to watch a recorded BYU football bowl game from this morning, which really means a nap and catching up on blogs for me.

P.S. JILLIAN that emailed me about meeting for froyo today…your email address wasn’t correct and so I couldn’t write you back! Sorry I missed you and have no other way of getting a hold of you besides through the blog.

What are your plans tomorrow night for New Years Eve?

Do you like wasabi?  What about soy sauce?

-I used to like wasabi but not after I was dared to eat a golf ball sized piece of it when I worked at a sushi restaurant, at least I made $150 by eating it.

Any fun dates this weekend?  Tell me all about it! If you are married, do you have a dedicated date night?

sushi + blog reading + napping = perfect day in my book! i love, love, love soy sauce and definitely need a ton of it when i’m eating sushi. i don’t mind wasabi. i like the little zip it gives, but i don’t love it as much as soy sauce!

we’re going to a friend’s house for a little New Year’s get-together. there will be lots of game playing and “Just Dance” on the Wii. ;)

NYE plans – friends are having a potluck shindig at their place with board games and a white elephant gift exchange. The potluck contribution I volunteered to bring is dessert… gotta get working on that!

Your sushi and pizza both look fabulous! I love both and could eat both every meal, every day. Incidentally, I once saw a Cooking Channel show that featured sushi pizza (and admittedly the TV host didn’t look enamored). Oops!

haha! i love sushi and i am a huuuuge soy sauce fan. i literally need the entire piece of sushi covered in soy sauce. also, i LOVE wasabi, and need lots of it dissolved in my soy sauce. it needs to make your nose burn a little :)

What if WE met for froyo? ?? ;)

Love Billy in that shirt!
NYE: 3 couples will be getting together. We have all celebrated together for the last 7 yrs.
Date night: my hubby and I got married on a 29th, so the 29th of every month is a guarenteed date night. Just had one last night. :)

Love Billy’s new shirt! Too cute…er…make that cool since it’s for a guy! :)

LOVE sushi! LOVE!!!! :)

Reply

OH you should have gotten a pizza from Costco too, they are so good. :)

Whenever I get sushi from Whole Foods they only give me 2 packs of soy sauce! not nearly enough, people!! I also use 1 packet per 2 pieces.

I am having a low key NYE involving cooking a healthy dinner, watching some movies and then going for a hilly trail run on Sunday morning! WAHOO!

Reply

I’m going out for sushi tomorrow, I’ve been craving it too!!! I like soy sauce, but not really wasabi. I’m a baby when it comes to spicy foods!

Reply

You ate a golf sized piece of Wasabi once?! Dear lord, how on earth did you feel after something like that? I do like wasabi but only the smallest-tiniest portion… just enough to add a bit of ZING to my sushi :) Soy sauce on the other hand, I go to town on that shiattt haha
I am going into Boston tomorrow night! So psyched

The shirt is cute! We’re hanging out with a few other couples. Grilling, playing games..and spending the night! Not worth going out and driving home. Happy New Year! :)

Loveee that shirt! Hilarious. No dates this weekend–single and ready to mingle.

Never had sushi…soy sauce is yum in pad thai and steamed veggies!

Billy’s shirt is AWESOME! I love spicy food but not a huge fan of wasabi. My FAVE for sushi is the orange spicy mayo that usually comes on things like spicy tuna rolls. I ask for a BOWL of it and dip every single piece of sushi until its covered. It burns my tongue off but tastes oh so good!

Yumm I love sushi, I never used to like wasabi but now like a little of it :)
We are going to a New Years Eve Gala tomorrow night, I am excited to dress up and it is totally different than the low key NYE’s we usually have.
No date night’s this weekend but me and my hubby take turns planning a date day/night every other month for each other and the other person is kept in surprise. January is my month so I am thinking of ideas now!

NYE…we are going out to a super fancy schmancy restaurant with our bestest friends in the world! So, it will just be the 4 of us and I can think of no better way to bring in the New Year!

I love your hubs shirt!!

Lol! Billy in the t-shirt is just too funny! :)

No big NYE plans as of yet. I will probably end up at my brothers house and keep the kids up all night…hehe. :)

Reply

Hahaha the wasabi story makes me laugh. My brother told me to eat it the first time I had sushi. The only thing I won was tears hays!

My Mr. would love a Mr. MF Dre shirt. HA (Actually he’d probably kill me!) Billy is a good man.
We’re headed to SF for NYE – dinner at my sister-and-brother-in law’s restaurant up there. Cannot wait.
Sushi – tonight! We’re on the same plan today!
And date night – yes, always. We look forward to them, always.

I love sushi too! We mix soy and wasabi for dipping the sushi – I wouldn’t eat wasabi by itself!

Tomorrow I will be setting up a firework show, waiting until midnight (wearing many layers of thermal clothing!) and then firing them. Thankfully it’s a small show so shouldn’t be too much work :)

Reply

that shirt is awesome! haha….poor billy has turned into the ‘other one’ in the hubby/wife combo…jk.

and that pizza looks like it has some darn dreamy crust! :)

Our NYE plans include a dinner date with my momma and heading into the city to a friends place for board games and popping some champagne!

P.S. I was at Costco this evening [to buy a Keurig!] and plan to go back tomorrow- le sigh… It was a madhouse!

Reply

Baha LOVE the shirt!
I MAY brave times square tomorrow evening…maybe…I’m terrified.
I love sushi, love soy sauce, love most spicy foods, but don’t like wasabi!

Reply

Love Billy’s shirt!

We hit up Costco and chili’s for date night tonight!

Reply

I love sushi, but I agree–never keeps me full for long! We’re having friends over for NY Eve, they also have young kids so I’m sure we won’t make it to midnight together. :) I like the idea of a dedicated date night– that would ensure we make it happen more regularly!

Reply

We are just hanging out with our friends and their kids. 4 adults and 8 kids not good odds. hahaha

Oh my goodness, I love Billy’s new title and shirt. That is the best gift! We aren’t sure what our New Year’s Eve plans will be this year. I’m thinking we will watch a movie and try to stay up to midnight. It’s funny how time changes, because 5 years ago we were out on the town for New Years. I do like Wasabi and Soy Sauce, but have yet to try sushi. I want to, but I’m worried the texture will freak me out. Adam & I used to have date nights every Wednesday until we had kids. Now we try to go out atleast once a month, two times if we are lucky. We enjoy spending time together, so every day is a date, but I do like to dress up every now and then. Btw, I got a new treadmill for Christmas! Beyond thrilled and can’t wait to use it.

I LOVE billy’s shirt – tell your mom she’s a genius for me :D xo

Colin said – nice.

but he wasn’t keen on wearing a running with spatulas one for me :P

I’m starting my day with a 7 mile progression run. Have I mentioned how much I love, love, love training this time around?
We are going to see the Dallas Stars play tomorrow night. Our good friend (who happens to be a patent attorney) had a hook up from his firm and we are going to be rocking a suite. Also, if you moved to Dallas, you could have gone to the BYU game in person. It was sunny and 67 today – a perfect winter day. Just saying…

For New Years, I’m cooking a turkey dinner with mashed potatoes, gravy, rolls, stuffing, and some kind of vegetable thrown in for the heck of it. Since our kids are old enough to stay up with us now (13, 9, and 4) we like to eat in the early afternoon, snack on junk food all night while we play board games and video games with each other. At midnight, we light off very loud fireworks…we enjoy waking the neighbors :)

Love soy sauce, like wasabi flavoring…sometimes.

Reply

HAHAHA!!!! LOVE Billy’s new shirt!! He’s gonna have to just shower with it on so he can wear it everyday and not miss a beat cuz he has to throw it in the washer ;)
… so supportive ;)

Woo for getting sushi- I an yet to satisfy my craving! I can handle a bit of wasabi- any more sends my nostrils on overdrive- not fun!

Reply

Our date night today was packet pick up for my run tomorrow (New Years Revolution run @ the Olympic oval) then quick grocery shopping. Boring, but we’ve been married a long time.

Reply

Love the shirt!!! My hubby and I always have at least one date night a week usually on Friday or Saturday!! I look forward to it all week! :) Happy New Years!

I love that your mom got that shirt made for Billy! Too cute!

Today Tyler and I both had the day off so we had a *day-date* and went shopping, out for lunch, went to look at hockey things, watched a movie at home and cooked dinner together. It was awesome!

For new years eve this year we are playing board games with my parents and older sister… it’ll be fun :)

NYE = Pot Luck dinner and house party with friends… I blew up SO MANY balloons yesterday and we attached a huge tarp onto the ceiling to drop at midnight! I’m mostly excited for the ‘creamy dream’ drinks I made up… SANS natural Cream Soda from Whole Foods with Whipped Cream Vodka and a dollop of whipped cream served in martini glasses!

Speaking of Costco – I got in so much trouble there this weekend, but they had 2lb bags of frozen lobster tail chunks! yummy!!

Can’t eat wasabi I don’t do spicy!! Have a very Happy New Years!!!

Reply

We’ll be with my 15 friends at a farm that my friend’s family owns eating dinner, playing and enjoying each other’s company. Then 1.1 I’m heading to the airport and flying fo london for 7 days with my boyfriend!

Haha that shirts too cute. Now everyone will know he is yours!

I am going out dancing for new years!

Reply

hahha LOVE billy’s t-shirt!! I bet he’s super excited to wear that cheering you on for all your upcoming races! :-P My plans for NYE involve shrimp for dinner, champagne, and games with family – aunt/uncle and cousins are here for the weekend!! Oh and I’m taking my little sister to get her ears pierced for the first time today too, she’s over-the-top excited about it hahah.

Reply

A golfball sized piece of wasabi?? I am in shock that someone could manage that. I can hardly stand anything more than a tiny dab, and even then I feel like my sinuses are cleared for the next month :-)

I’m hanging out with my two best friends for NYE and I cannot wait to see them! There will definitely be lots of games played – probably girls vs. boys because we know we (girls) will always win. Probably because we get wayyy more into it.

Reply

Hahaha that shirt is too cute!

Bahhahaa, that shirt is hilarious!

I love Billy’s shirt. I think you should get 7, that way he can wear one each day of the week….you could just get them in a bunch of different colros ;)

Oops, supposed to say ‘colors’

a) love Billy’s new hair, b) love his shirt, and c) do you think you would respond to the term “HRG” if someone said it on the street?

I thought of you every day this week….because…I was devouring 2 jars of olives that I got in my stocking from Jonathan. I inhale olives. Don’t hate me, just send me all your extra olives.

Reply

Haha!! LOVE the shirt!!! Even cooler that Billy posed with it on. I wish we could double date with you two.

On NYE I was in the air on a huge plane for 16 hours, heading back down under to Oz. Because of the time change and international date line, I never had a New Year’s Day!

haaha… to funny. i think i packet of soy sauce should be mandatory per piece of sushi. i mean i like a little sushi with my soy sauce
