I want more and more.

So, we went to Costco and got all sorts of healthy delicious food yet…

Photo 2

We still went to Wendy’s for dinner.  I love it when my meal alone takes up an entire tray.  I had the chili, baked potato and garden salad.

IMG 1388

My BIL just got in town (and will be here for 4 months wahoo) and it is kind of our tradition to all go out to eat at somewhere really cheap when he first gets here.  Wendy’s chili has a special place in my heart.  Maybe I just need a really good chili recipe of my own that tastes even better than Wendy’s.

I don’t know about you but I don’t really love watching sports (why watch football when you can watch Felicity or Gilmore Girls instead) but I can watch anything running or triathlon related for hours and I can even watch the same race over and over again.

IMG 1389

We hooked up hulu to our TV to watch the 2008 Kona Ironman.  My BIL will be training for an Ironman in AUGUST and so we thought it would help pump him up even more to watch Kona.  He has been reading the Triathlete’s Training Bible and loves it just in case any of you are looking for a good triathlon book.

It seems like us crazy endurance athletes always want more and more of our sport.  I find myself thinking about what’s next?  How can I push myself to the next level?  How far can I go? Ultra’s? Tri’s? The more the merrier right?  I don’t know why my brain craves training for more and more but I think this will be my year for shorter distances and by gaining the quick leg turnover by doing the faster and shorter races than I will become a better marathoner and then an awesome ultra-marathoner;)

Today is a non-run day for me….any ideas of a fun workout I should try that doesn’t involve the elliptical or spin bike?  I need to broaden my horizons.

Ever thought of doing an ultra?  Ever done one?  What tri’s have you done?

Do you eat fast food?  If yes, where?

Happy New Years Eve Eve :) ! The only fast food I really do is chickfila (love their salads and Grilled Chicken sandwich… ok and their nuggets!), Subway, Potbellys (fav sandwich spot!) and Wendy’s.

Reply

Don’t eat fast food much anymore unless Panera counts? :)

Reply

I have never had Panera…..what should I get there?

Reply

My favorites:
– Soup in a Bread Bowl (either creamy tomato or baked potato)
– Iced Green Tea
– Mango Smoothie

During the holidays, they have a chocolate mint crinkle cookie too which is SO good.

Reply

YES! I love Panera!!! I just ate there yesterday! Big salad and peppermint hot chocolate.

I also love their cinnamon crunch bagel. Not the healthiest option but dang it’s good!

Reply

I love Panera! My favorite is the Fuji apple salad…..yum! The last coffee I had there was the Pumpkin Spice Latte and it was super yummy.

Reply

If you love Wendy’s chili, please please please find a Panera and get their chili – it is amazingly good, and they put corn bread in it, which makes it even more delicious!!

Reply

I love panera! I go at least once a week for lunch. I love their turkey harvest salad!

We use to NEVER eat fast food–then we had kids! We like Wendy’s, Dairy Queen, Braums, and McDonald’s-some items–we also like Sonic–Do you have Sonics in Utah, oh and Hardees–same as Carl Jr. I think—Like i said we NEVER ate fast food–then kids came! e

Reply

We do have sonics here and I love it!! Kids will do that to you ha! Billy and I are just STILL kids:)

Not to much into fast food, except Subway once in awhile :)

Reply

Have you tried kickboxing?

Reply

NOOOO…..I want to though but I am a little afraid!

I posted a great at-home workout that will get your HR up and help build strength

(Shameless plug alert!!)

I eat fast food once and a while, mostly Subway. Every so often I will get something from Harveys or Wendys though

Reply

THANK YOU SO MUCH for the link. I have heard of Tabata and wanted to try it so bad! Thanks Samantha! Harveys….what is that?!

Reply

Heck yes on the ultra! I just did my first 50 miler after running lots of marathons and LOVED it. I think you will too, whenever you decide to go for that goal. I hear ya on craving more and more- but I think that is a good thing. Setting bigger goals and trying to achieve them is what is so awesome about being a runner- there is always another goal to go for. So excited for you and good things to come!

Side note: Are you still loving your treadmill? I’m looking into buying one, and want a good model so I was wondering how you still felt about yours and if you have had any problems.

Reply

CONGRATS ON YOUR 50 MILER….that is incredible. How long did you train for that? I so agree with you about ghouls and runners! I am OBSESSED with my treadmill. We haven’t had any problems and we both love it so much! We have the Nordic Track C900! Let me know what you end up getting and if you have any other questions!

Reply

Thanks for your reply! Good to know that you haven’t had any problems with the treadmill- I’ve heard some horror stories about some treadmills!

I don’t really know how long to say I trained for the 50- I train pretty high milage most of the year, so I just decided to sign up for it ~ 2 or 3 months prior and just ran some ‘training’ marathons and stuff leading up to it. It was one of the top experiences of my life though- for sure. One of those perfect days when all things work out and all the star allign from the running Gods- glorious! :)

Reply

you should put your road bike on your trainer and do intervals – with me!! well sort of, that’s what I’m doing this morning. Or maybe some Jillian?

I totally know what you mean about craving more and more training and always wanting to attempt bigger and bigger things – that’s why we’re runners! My favorite book, Once A Runner, has a quote that actually explains it perfectly…”runners run for the constant upward struggle” – once we push ourselves past one limit, we can’t wait for the next! I just got my first road bike so I can’t wait to try cycling races in addition to running, and maybe some duathlons. But I think I’m with you on the shorter races this year – I need to build my speed back after the injury, and then I can focus on the half marathon and marathon again!

Reply

WOW…that quote is absolutely PERFECT for us! I need to read that book asap! I am so happy about your road bike and wish we could bike together. Your speed will come back in no time!

Reply

Does sushi count as fast fOod? What about a nice long walk- go back to the basics :-)

Reply

Ha…..I don’t know if it counts but now you made me crave some. Good call on the long walk, that sounds awesome right about now!

Reply

I’d LOVE to do an Ironman.

So this year I’ll probably do a half ironman if I can find one that’s not full yet!

I got a brand new exciting Cervelo bike for Christmas, can’t wait to use it and add more biking into the mix!!

Reply

You are going to do a half this year!!! That is so exciting. There is one in Utah that isn’t full yet:) It is right by us! WHAT…..AHHHHH I am so happy you got the Cervelo, that is so exciting and I can’t wait to read about your biking adventures!

Reply

I love Wendys….so yummy. I always choose them for my FF fix. I like their grilled chix wraps too.. I totally rocked my long run today…8.1 miles in 1hr 18min. SO happy right now. Hmm…do you do yoga? It really helps with all that running…I have been doing HOT yoga lately and wowsa…you leave feeling so great–all those toxins sweated out…its awesome.

xoxo from Trinidad

Reply

I need to try their wraps! AHHHH CONGRATS on your awesome run, way to go girl! Good call on the yoga…now to just tear myself off the couch! Have a great day!

Reply

I’ve always wanted to try a rowing machine but my gym doesn’t have one.

I don’t really eat a lot of fast food mainly because there aren’t a lot of choices for vegetarians. I do get a lot of pizza though and I really been enjoying the spinach and feta cheese cheese bread from Dominoes. Yum!

Now that I am reading the “The Long Run” I’d really like to do a half ironman and maybe…. just maybe someday a Ironman.

Reply

You CAN do the 1/2 and full Ironman, I know it. So do you recommend ‘The Long Run’? Pizza is always the best and now I want to try your favorite Dominoes find!

Reply

I would love to run an ultra! I have it on my bucket list — first a 50k and then a 50 mile. =)

Reply

Let’s do it together!! We can cross them off our bucket lists together!

Reply

I need to do the marathon first, but I honestly think ultra could be my bigger passion. I am a slow steady one foot in front of the other for hours girl……..so I actually just had this goal discussion with the hubs.

Meeting a friend from HS for a yoga class and then coffee this morning, so yoga is my workout suggestion.

I don’t really ever eat “burger joint fast food” except when in Europe……..by day 5 I usually find the mcdonalds for lunch, isn’t that weird?

Reply

You have so much longer on your break….maybe I will come move out and work at your school. We go back on Tuesday:( Have so much fun at yoga and coffee and yoga sounds mighty fine right now! Not weird at all…a little Micky D’s every now and then is good for ya;) Have an amazing day Erica!

Reply

I did a metabolic workout that I found in Oxygen magazine. It kicked my butt! It keeps your heart rate elevated, plus building muscle. If I have to go through a drive-thru, I hit up Chic-Fil-A. They have the healthiest chicken sandwiches.

Reply

WOW…your workout sounds intense, way to go!! Ohhhhh Chic-Fil-A is amazing!

Reply

It’s been so unseasonly warm here you could to on a bike ride outside today. :) I would love to do tris if I could ever get the swimming down. I have fears, so that’s definitely a long term goal for me!

Reply

That is a great idea! I can’t believe this weather…I am loving it though. How is your treadmill going?!?!

Reply

Awesome, I love it so so much! I’ve been running more than I ever have before and it’s been great, but I’m trying to do more cross-training and strength too…we’ll see, haha.

Reply

I love kickboxing too – gets your heart rate up!
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve gone grocery shopping and then went to to eat!
I love Panera and okay, I’ll admit it – I have a fondness for Taco Bell’s potato tacos.

Reply

Good to know I am not alone. I have never been to Panera!! I don’t think we have them here;( Um….yep, those potato tacos are so good!

Reply

A) What is an ultra? Never heard this term, but it scares me to my very core.

B) I can’t really handle fast food. It makes me feel tired and sluggish and it makes my tummy hurt. I DID make the most FABULOUS turkey burger EVER last night, though. The secret to a turkey burger that isn’t dry is to sear it in the pan with some cooking spray for a few minutes on each side and pop the patties in the oven at 400 degrees for 15 minutes (depending on the size of your patty). I used 1 egg, worcestshire sauce, Badia seasoning (awesome stuff, you need to have this on hand at all times) and 1/4 cup Italian bread crumbs. Moosh it all together, sear on both sides and into the oven it goes. You will love it! (I used 1 lb. of Jennie O lean turkey breast) This will rock your face off.

Reply

Basically it is anything longer than a marathon! WOW…your turkey burger sounds incredible. I really want to try it, thank you so so much for giving me the recipe!!

Reply

How about… Jump rope?! A pilates class?! Or go for a hike?! Orrr, go shopping and power walk :P

Reply

I think I am going to have to take your shopping/power walk idea. Allison, you are brilliant!

Reply

I love that you are considering putting an Ultra (or multiple Ultras!) on your list. I think that every person is capable. My friend put it well – something about it being less about athleticism and more about having the drive to persevere and keep moving forward. Continuing to move forward even when you want nothing more than to stop, holding back a lot in the beginning, and mental strength are huge plusses. I also found that 26.2 doesn’t seem quite as daunting once you’ve gone beyond that distance.

That said, I would love to do a tri someday. Minus the swimming part. That is where I would have a giant mental hurdle to overcome.

Reply

WOW….Hannah, thank you so much for your comment and I think you are so right. I want to test my MENTAL strength and I love the idea of them making the marathon sound easier:) The swimming part is the hardest part for me too!

Reply

That’s totally my Wendy’s meal. I don’t eat it that much but there is quite possibly the best run Wendy’s just a couple minutes from my house and every once in awhile their chili calls to me as well. Did my first ultra this year and planning to do more next year – definitely a different animal!

Reply

We think a lot alike! WOW….I am going to pick your brains about your ultra experience if that is okay! You are awesome!

Reply

First, LOVE YOUR BLOG!!!! Don’t do fast food, unless chipotle counts, awesome. Was gonna do VT50 ultra this past fall, but they closed reg because we had a bad hurricane in new England – trails were trashed. I did a marathon instead. I did pace my hubby for the last 30 of his VT100 last summer. Amazing!!! I hear ya on the always wanting more – I will do the 100 after I finish a 50. You’re awesome, keep it up!!
Ps- on stepmill now, killer workout:)

Reply

KATIE!! Thank you so much for your comment, you made my day! I love Chipotle!! That is so awesome that you paced your hubby and he did ONE HUNDRED MILES, wow!!! Are you signed up for a 50. Um, the step mill kicks my trash every time! Way to go.

Reply

I am thinking about doing the VT50 in September ’12. My husband is doing the Leadville 100 in August, so it gets tricky (and expensive) with both of us running and 3 kids. I also want to run NYC marathon – could probably do the 50 and the NYC, anything’s possible – we’ll see!!

Reply

I am the same way I’ve been watching 2011 Kona, Bicycle Dreams, and Race Across America during my indoor trainer sessions. You should definitely watch 2011 Kona with your BIL on Youtube, I think they are taking it down soon. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=re9RBoiGSos

What IM is the BIL doing? Triathlete’s Training Bible is great, I also recommend Going Long (very helpful for specific Iron Distance training). I’m tackling my first IM in August as well. I’ve done all the shorter distances (sprint, Olympic, and HIM).

Reply

THANK YOU SO MUCH for the link, I can’t wait to watch it! Thanks for the recommendation too, I just told him to read Going Long when I read your comment. Which IM are you doing. I think he might do the Kentucky one!

Ironman Louisville – August 26, 2012
241 Days to go! Haha, I’m not excited or anything.

One thing I do for cross training besides lift weights is play Dance Central on my Xbox. It’s so fun and actually makes me sore every time I do it because you use your whole body. Plus it’s just fun to feel like you actually have dance moves, in the privacy of your own home of course. I just got Dance Central 2 for Christmas so I am eager to try that out soon! As for fast food, Taco Bell. It’s right across the street from where I live so sometimes my husband and I just give in.

Reply

That is brilliant. I wish I had an XBOX…I might have to come over and try this:) Mmmmmm Taco Bell!

Reply

I like subway and chick-a-fila (sp?).

I haven’t been to Wendy’s for years. I doubt I would make any good choices there. ;)

Reply

Try the Chili, I don’t think it is that bad for you and it is so good!

Reply

My favorite days of the year are the day after the All-Star game (because there are no televised sports that day) and the day television networks air the Kona Ironman :) I’m a super nerd and stream it live through my laptop on the day-of too! Fun!

Reply

BAHAHA ME TOO!!! I love hearing from other running/endurance nerds….we are awesome:)

Reply

I don’t usually eat fast food but I heard that Wendy’s chili is actually one of the healthiest options on the menu!
I am always looking for the next thing. I think it’s because all athletes want goals, and something to work towards. If you don’t have a goal, it’s so boring.
Try a circuit workout! I love them! You can do one focusing on weights, on cardio, or both together.
If I eat fast food I usually opt for Panera (my faavoriteee), or something like pei wei.
I really want to try a triathlon sometime in the future!

Reply

Ever try body pump or another strength training class? thats a way to switch it up!!

I love subway!! I got a gift cert for there for Christmas!!

Reply

I used to love Wendy’s chili as a somewhat healthy quick lunch until I got a massive piece of gristle in it which I tried to eat before realizing what it was and spitting it out. Make me gag every time I see Wendy’s chili now. haha hope that didn’t turn you off too much ;)

Reply

Wendy’s is my go-to for fast food… always has been!

I’m considering doing a sprint tri in 2013!

Reply

I love Taco Bell bean burritos and cheese quesadillas. I’m sure they’re full of garbage, but once in a while, it’s totally worth it!

We need to go to Costco this weekend, I’m debating going as our “date” tonight, or braving the Saturday morning crowds on a holiday weekend…ick!

Reply

mmm i love me some wendys!!!!!!!! and up here in boston, kelly’s roast beef!

i would never do an ultra, bc i just dont want to run that long, but i have done two ironman, a bunch of halfs, and other triathlons. i think you should start doing those!!!!

Reply

Have you ever tried jump rope? I don’t know if that’s allowable for you on a non-run day, but you should try it sometime!!! It’s actually really fun. You can look up YouTube videos and learn all sorts of fancy moves!! :)

I try really hard not to eat fast food, but I do seem to end up at buffet restaurants more often than I need to. And tonight I’m “stuck” going to a restaurant — I previewed the menu online and zero healthy food!! Oh well. A burger is not going to kill me. And I saw they have like a special garlic one…… :)

Reply

I am doing my first MINI tri in May… I am excited and scared, I am not a swimmer at all! So starting January my goal is to swim once a week at adult lane swim and teach myself to swim :)
My favorite fast food is Subway or a place called Opa which is has the best Greek chicken pita wraps.

Reply

I have that same tri book and LOVE it. Lots of good info so it’s not always the easiest read, but it’s so informative.

Try rowing! I discovered the rowing machine last week and have loved using it–totally kicks my butt, gets cardio in, and used my upper body (which I could definitely use some help with!)

Reply

Were you watching Paula Newby Fraser melt down at the end of Kona in 1995? Go ahead, admit it. I’ve re-watched that a ton of times.

Reply

Girlfriend I’m so with u on the chili/salad/baked potato combo. The Wendy’s apple pecan chicken salad is to die for!
Awesome that Billy is doing Ironman!!

Reply

Not a fast food eater, unless subway and starbucks count! :) every once in a while we do though and i TRY to choose healthy options… ya know how that goes haha

Reply

Have you ever tried Zumba? Chik-Fil-A is the best fast-food ever!!! I’ve done 3 “Sprint” Tri’s~I need to work on my swimming to do any longer distances (my sister and I learned how to swim 3 yrs. ago right before our first race.) We were the only ones competing with mountain bikes also…ha ha (got to start somewhere?) Your blog is very motivating! I crave veggies and Frozen Yogurt a lot now?

Reply

I just had Wendy’s chili two days ago! Forgot how much I loved it. :)

Reply

Chick Fil-a & In-n-out fries!
what about? reformer pilates, zumba, swim, kickboxing?

Reply

TASHA…thank you so much for the ideas, all of those things sound like a blast.

Reply

Try boxing or pilates! Boxing makes you feel like a BA and pilates is just….fantastic.
And I know what you mean about always wanting more. After I did my first half marathon I was sitting and waiting for some others to finish and I thought to myself “really? That’s it… I could easily do a full!” So I started training and sustained injury after injury until I was randomly talking to someone about a knee injury they said “well…maybe you’re just not built for running” they’re probably right.
And although I hate to admit it, I could eat In N Out until the sun comes up.

Reply

HA….I love In N Out too! BOO to injuries, I totally understand. Are you running now?!?!

Reply

My boyfriend did Kona in 2007 and LOVED it! Since graduating from college though, he’s cut it back to just super speedy marathon running (who has time to train for a tri & work as well?!?). Good luck to your BIL!

Reply

Some of my favorite workouts are ZUMBA (of course!), kickboxing, yoga, pilates, etc.

We rarely eat fast food other than Subway. I eat that probably twice a month. Every now and then we will go to chick-fil-a and I always get the grilled chicken and fruit salad, and then I eat about half of Daniel’s fries. :)

Reply

You should do a circuit of body weight exercises, squats, pushups, lunges, planks, tricep dips. I did 3 circuits of 15 each on Tuesday and I am still sore.

I never thought I would ever consider doing a half, let alone actually DO one! I’m fairly certain that’s going to be my max though, but who knows!

I try to limit fast food, but sometimes crown burger just calls to me :)

Have you ever tried any of the insanity workouts? Here’s a link I’ve used to try a few http://tanandtoned.tumblr.com/post/6515379868/insanity-workout-videos I think Wendys is pretty delicious but I really like burgers at Culvers plus they have custard. :-)

Reply

You should find somewhere that does Turbokick. LOVE it.

I eat Subway a few times a year and Chick fil a. I really like their spicy grilled chicken salad.

I have done a quite few tris here in Utah and I LOVE doing them. I think it is less harsh on the body than doing long distance running. However, it always drains me training for one – trying to get enough swim, bike, run, stretch and strength training sessions in. I think I am going to go take a nap now just thinking about it….

Reply

you should try one of my circuit workouts on my blog. most of them all include some strength training and cardio – i love them. they make time go by super fast and they get cardio and strength training done in a flash!

Reply

Snowshoeing!!! :)

I am soooooooooooo wanting to do an Ultra. The Leadville 100 to be exact. I am very terrified of the distance though.

I try to refrain from fast food so Jillian Michaels doesn’t hunt me down and killme in my sleep. However, when I am 100% certain she isn’t looking, I sneak through the drive-thru at Sonic! :)

Reply

I try to avoid fast food as much as I can. If I am with friends I usually just try and find the healthiest thing on the menu. :)

Reply

I didn’t know the past Kona Ironman was on Hulu! Will have to look up. My husband is a HUGE fan of Wendy’s chili, too. Hope you are having an awesome holiday season – I don’t comment on every post but I certainly read them! Sending SO MUCH LOVE from Minnesota to you, Billy, and your family!!! :)

Reply

I could not agree with you more about the constant need for a bigger challenge! 2011 was the year of the ultra for me – I went from running one marathon to completing 3 more, plus two 50Ks, and my first 50 miler! The 50 miler was without a doubt the hardest thing I have ever done, but I am so doing another one. You would love an ultra – go for it! I also did my first triathlon (sprint) – it was an Irongirl series, all women, I loved that too, and I am doing a half ironman in 2012 – scary! I’m not too into fast food, except McFlurries, I could eat one of those every day.

Reply

Are there any pictures of you NOT smiling? ;)

Reply

I think one but it was because I didn’t have any ice cream that day:)

Reply

What Ironman is your BIL training for? You should try a tri – they are awesome! I just completed my first Ironman this past August and there isn’t a feeling in the world like it. I too can sit and watch endurance sports online for hours at a time – I’m so inspired by all the athletes that get out there and give it there all.

As for a non-spin/eliptical workout…yoga? That is my go to rest day workout.

Reply

i get the same exact thing as you at wendy’s! i’m not gonna lie, their chili is the BOMB. but my top fast food choices are: chick-fil-a, mcdonalds (for icecream sundaes and egg mcmuffins), wendy’s, and panera

Reply

Happy New Year’s Eve eve!!

I don’t eat fast food unless Chipotle counts and that is only once maybe twice a month.

I would love to participate in a triathlon someday.

Reply

I’ve run a couple of trail 50Ks and wonder how far I’ll go before I decide it is far enough. So far my rule is that it can’t take away from my sleep. So if I could finish under 15 hrs, I’d do it. So I guess right now that would mean a 50 miler. I love how running a marathon doesn’t seem as far anymore. It makes me more confident in myself, no doubt!

No tris for me. I can’t ride my bike fast. And if someone kicks me while I’m swimming, I’d probably try to kill them. :) Better for all if I stay away from triathalons. haha.

Reply

I’m glad someone else does that too … buys a cart full of groceries and then goes out to eat the same night. That is me to a tee (we could be BFFs!). :)

Fast food – yes. Many places. Bad. I’m going to try and stop this in 2012. But Subway does not qualify as fast food in my mind. To me, fast food is food you get served through a window. So my 2012 resolution should be “don’t eat anything that comes out of a window.” :)

Reply

Do the stair master. I love doing it at the gym, it kills me!

My dad signed up for his first Ultra! The Squaw Peak Ultra in June. You people are crazy :).

We don’t do fast food very often because we like more sit down places since I try to only eat out 1-2 x/week, but honestly, I eat less at fast food places verses sit down places so we should do it more haha. I have been craving Subway lots lately though! I guess we go to Cafe Rio a lot and that is sort of fast food-ish.

Reply

I have been reading through the comments (your readers are the best) and I forgot all of your questions. I think fast food was one. I love panera but I wouldn’t call it fast food. I also love the apple pecan salad from wendy’s. I know you have commented on the price before and I agree but it is a good quick healthy lunch on the go. I actually eat it without the dressing or pecans.

Reply

how about some yoga or snowshoeing (depending if you want to be indoors or outside!)
would love to do a tri…. and conquer the swimming fear :)
two good books on ultras..by dean karnazes “ultramarathon man” and “50/50″… very inspiring.
no fast food for me….
oh btw…. love your blog….

I eat fast food! I had chipotle last night (they just got brown rice! Woo)! For at home workout, the other day I found a website with workouts. It’s really great!

I did her “hot body workout” the other day after a run, but if you do that through a few times it would be a great workout!

You should go swimming!! I feel the exact same way about challenges, but I love watching sports too! With the boyfriend gearing up for the upcoming Tri season I can’t help but get pumped up about a few Tri’s myself! Especially if I’m going to push myself hard in the pool in order to pace him…and my road bike is too pretty not to ride ;)
I hope you have a wonderful New Years celebration love!! xoxo!

Reply

I love Tris!! You should really do an Ultra too!!

Reply

Some cross-training activities in my repertoire are yoga, cardi0-boxing, swimming, occasionally the Stairmaster, rowing, and plain ol’ walking (I’ve also tried walking backwards on the treadmill – it’s supposed to help with running-induced muscle imbalances, and it’s harder than it looks!)

Yoga is my go-to cross-trainer. I am all about convenience, and I have some yoga DVDs that I can just crank up in my living room. Can’t get easier than that!

Reply

Well, I just read Born to Run so trail runs and ultras are constantly on my mind. After the Chicago Marathon this October, my next goal is going to be the Pike’s Peak marathon! My mom has a house there and I grew up going to Colorado Springs every summer, so it would be such a cool race for me.

Reply

I am registered for my first ultra (AR 50 mile) in April! So excited. Wish me luck!!

Reply

I wish I could say that I don’t eat fast food, but I spend a lot of time in my car for work, and so it’s not always possible to have healthy food on hand. My favorite is of course In & Out. I don’t even feel guilty when I eat there. Its too good. I also love chick-fil-a (amazing waffle fries and the classic sandwich!), those amazing sea salt fries (and the jr bacon cheeseburger) from Wendy’s.

I also frequent Panera and Subway, but I don’t consider those in the same league as the above because it is actually possible to get healthy options at these.

I’ve never done a tri, biking and swimming ain’t my thing. I am toying with the idea of doing a 50K ultra though….

You should exercise your resting muscles ;)

Reply

I get ice cream from fast-food places. When it comes to food Subway and Panera are as fast as I go.

I’m big into doing abs on the elliptical and spin bike..multi-tasking. Not sure it works but I still try. When I use to tan in the booth I would try and do ab exercises to kill time and pre-occupy myself from boredom.

My friends and I used to make big meals from the $0.99 menu at Wendy’s! I loved it. Haven’t eaten there in a while, but the baked potato seems like a good choice! Always delicious with condiments, right? Mmmm. Billy’s favorite is In-N-Out Burger – he was pretty excited when they opened one in Dallas earlier this year!

I use a chili recipe from Paula Deene (prolly one of her few recipes w/o a stick of butter). Its super easy and love that there are leftovers I can save and freeze (it thaws well). The only thing I would mention is that I swear it tastes better the next day.

I love Wendy’s chilli! especially if it’s cold outside.. I love it with broccoli!

I am also not a big sports watcher.. but I could read running blogs all day so hmm..
Umm fun workout could be.. hanging up NYE decorations lol. Seriously I worked out at the gym today but felt like I got just as good a workout running around setting up decorations!

Almost no fast food but LOVE Wendy’s Chilli :) Does Subway count as fast food? I also love this place here called Zoe’s Kitchen!
