Crepes and other junk food.

Post run, post dinner, pre-Christmas movie watching dessert from last night:

Step 1:  Find someone to make you a crepe (especially if they are willing to make large amounts of them that you can freeze for every day consumption).

Step 2:  Fill it with Hagen Daz Strawberry ice cream.

Step 3:  Roll it.  Eat a handful of chocolate chips.

Step 4:  Top with homemade whipped cream, strawberries and chocolate.

Random find of the day in the in-laws pantry:

This was passed around to all of Billy’s family during church today.

My MIL said she would not make both things just for me, rude.

Now I am contemplating staying in the family room and watching football or watching Gossip Girl on my computer with headphones, tough choice.

What is your workout today?

-Rest day except for walking around the neighborhood to go caroling (we have to if we want dessert tonight, says my MIL) in a few hours.

Crepe fan?  What are your favorite crepe toppings?  I want to try a dinner crepe….what should I add to it?

What is your Sunday night dinner?

Mmm! Love crepes. My fave are full of as many berries as possible.

I’ve never had a savory crepe, but I’m imagining one with avocado in it somehow would be yummy.

Reply

You are brilliant…avocado would be amazing. Hope you are having a great day Krissy!

Dinner crepes are so tasty… Pulled chicken broccoli and alfredo- yummmm!

10 miler… any second now.

I love that you guys pass notes during church. Scandalous.

Reply

Ha…you know us, very scandalous. Enjoy your 10 miler! You are going to have so much fun!

No workout for me today, just walking around this freezing cold city with layer and layers of clothes on. Maybe a couple push ups if I feel inclined.

Love crepes. Classic nutella is my favorite or just lemon juice and sugar. I have never had a savory crepe because when faced with the choice of sweet or savory, sweet has always won. I bet an egg would be good and spinach.

Reply

You are inspiring me to do pushups:) I need to add some nutella to my next crepe and your egg crepe sounds amazing!

Reply

Ah that crepe sounds and looks so good. I’m a fan of nutella/banana, but that looks spectacular!

today is my rest day and i’m loving every bit of it. ;)

i love crepes! nutella, bananas, and syrup are my favorite toppings! i’ve never tried a savory crepe before – they sound so good too!

we had a pretty filling lunch, so we’re keeping it easy with leftovers tonight!

Reply

Aren’t rest days the best?!?! Good call with the syrup….off to go try that out!

Dinner tonight will be Chili. The BF’s mom is making us dinner and her Chili is gooood. Those birthday Oreos will be on my mind. My workout was 3 miles on the treadmill and a upper body workout with some weights.

Reply

You are going to have to get the recipe from her and post it!! GREAT WORKOUT TANYA! Have fun tonight.

We think a lot alike. LOVED your Christmas questions today!

10 miler yesterday and 6 today.

We always had berries, powdered sugar and syrup growing up (my mom makes crepes!) Now I live in Los Gatos, CA and there is this AWESOME crepe place called Sweet Peas. They do everything from fruity, nutella, breakfasty crepes to eggs benedict and spinach omelet crepes to turkey and brie or ham and cheese!!

My suggestion.. try them all!

Reply

DANG…10 yesterday and 6 today…you are awesome Nikki. I need to figure out how far away Los Gatos is from me so that I can come and go to Sweet Peas with you, that sounds so good!

Reply

I’ve never been a crepe fan but I’m pretty sure if you filled anything with ice cream and put whipped cream on top I would eat it :) Birthday cake Oreos? I have never heard of those!

Reply

Yum! The notes my family passes around in church include things like “Tyler is cute.” and “Mom runs fast.” so that Tyler can practice his reading. (Yeah, I may pass him the second sentence more than I pass him the first. I’m an awesome mom).

I love crepes! They are so yummy! Sometimes I cook up the raw costco tortillas (have you ever had them? Amazing!) and put butter cinnamon and sugar on them and pretend they are crepes. Though today when I made them I accidentally pulled cumin out instead of cinnamon. It may have been gross, but I may have eaten it anyway because it still had sugar and butter on it.

Reply

My family keeps it simple for Sunday night dinner! Just eggs and toast tonight :)

Reply

i went on a looong run today – felt so good! hmm… never had a savory crepe because i hate cheese and it seems that all savory crepes are filled with some form of cheese. i vote for strawberries & greek yogurt and call it breakfast for dinner! :)

Reply

I make homemade crepes and serve them to guests. We have done the egg/bacon or egg/sausage with cheese. I might try potatoes sometimes with onions/peppers. I love them with strawberries. I haven’t done the ice cream in the middle. I might need to try that out.

My son is sick (and I am catching it), we went to urgent care as his temp was almost 102. He has been snacking and is currently eating dry cereal. I am having a ham sandwich stuffed with the salad I made for the week. :)

I love that you can vote on what is being made. I am crushing on your in-laws.

My mouth started watering when I saw the photo of your crepe. I so wish I had one of those right now! If you ever make your way to Vermont we have a fantastic creperia that serves dinner and dessert crepes. You could get some ideas from their website: http://www.skinnypancake.com/savory-classics/

THANKS FOR THE LINK DANIELLE….that looks amazing!!

In India, we eat dosas, which are extremely similar to crepes, but they are always savory. My favorite flavor is an egg and masala dosa, which is filled with spicy potatoes and egg!! I need to start trying sweet stuffings though!
Workout has yet to happen today! I need some serious motivation.

Reply

Can I come try some doses with you? That sounds amazing…spicy potatoes, yes please! GO GET YOUR WORKOUT ON…you can do it!

Today I got up at 6 AM and did 10 miles with my two running partners. It was cold and the sun wasn’t up, but after it was done it felt good. AND I start marathon training tomorrow. First day of training is a rest day, which is going to be very hard indeed. My family and I make crepes and we pretty much put anything we want on them. I love them with nutella and strawberries :-) Tonight for supper…yeah I haven’t figured that one out yet!

Reply

My top savory crepe — cheese, ham and egg! I had them all the time when I studied abroad in Paris and they really are amazing!!!

Hi! Just found your blog – your crepes look awesome! what do you make them with?
Beef & Veggie stew is simmering away right now for our dinner, hope it’s good and hope it hurries up and cooks!

P.S. Love sweet crepes. Have not tried savory ones.

Dinner tonight is steak with sauted mushrooms and onions, green beans and sweet potato and regular potato fries.

Reply

I am drooling over that crepe. I think the only type I have had was cinnamon and sugar. Can’t wait to see what new combos you try.

Rest day here. 9 miles yesterday. Thought of you while doing so because I am impressed you can do that all before work. That would be one early morning for this girl.

So jealous you do not have the Sunday feel before going to school tomorrow.

Reply

HA…I just can’t sleep some mornings! CONGRATS on your 9 miles…you are incredible! Love the cinnamon/sugar idea, off to go test it out. I hope that your break comes quickly Erica, YOU CAN DO THIS!

Reply

That crepe looks SO delicious! I love the dinner voting card!! :)

Reply

I love crepes with Nutella and bananas … yum! :)

Reply

I think I’ve only had a crepe a couple of times. I need to get on that!
I did the elliptical and an upper body weights workout today.
I feel like crepes with chocolate and some type of fruit would be the best. Savory? Anything with cheese!
I had pork chops, broccoli, and a sweet potato for dinner.

Reply

haha…I love it! My sunday night dinner consisted of a cupcake and some sugar cookie bits. nothing like some good nutrients right there :)

Reply

WOW!!! That crepe looks sooooooooo good! We found the best crepe place on our Colorado trip this summer, I would die for those again! Love them with veggies or fruit toppings, so good all day long!

Workout – 4 mi run with dog and husband and 60 min cardio class

Dinner – a bowl of cereal. Lame, but we are clearing out the kitchen before we leave for Christmas. Have a wonderful time in CA!!

Reply

I love the idea of the voting! I am going to start trying that! Erica

Birthday Oreos!? How have I not heard of those?! They’re going on my Christmas list. :)

I hope you enjoyed your rest day and those yummy crepes.

Reply

Dinner crepe? Oh my gosh–brie, apple, and ham or brie, apple, and jam. Or pesto, cheddar, and mozzerella!

Reply

I hardly ever have savory crepes because the sweet ones are just too good! Workout today was 5 mile run and walk round a cute little neighborhood with hubby. That top photo of you is so gorgeous!

Reply

I ran a 5K today, PRed, and won an age group medal. I’m pretty pumped about an otherwise lazy Sunday!

I went to a local crepe restaurant once and I had a chicken, cheese, mushroom, and tomato one. My husband’s was filled with spinach and goat cheese. They were both delish!

Hold the phone: BIRTHDAY CAKE OREOS???? I don’t know if I can handle it…wow! And even more so at that crepe! If you going savory, ham and cheese is your go-to! So delicious! I just discovered cinnamon flavor Oatmeal Squares so that was my dinner…a big bowl of it with fruit and yogurt and man did I relish every single bite…sometimes simple is perfect!…and it fueled my 5-mile run perfectly this morning :)

Reply

BIRTHDAY CAKE OREOS!??!? That’s amazing. I would eat so many of those. I ran a nice 4 miles outdoors in sunny Denver, and made paninis with tomato soup for dinner. Yum!

Reply

I think the best crèpes are the ones with just sugar and cinnamon. Yummy!

Reply

Savoury crepes are lovely with cream cheese and cucumber :)
But I think banana and nutella is the best :)

Reply

yummi love crepes- i think anything with nutella or cottage cheese crepes are the best!

Reply

Love creeeepesssss! Of course number one filling is Nutella after that all goes downhill … :)

For savory fillings try:

– Emmental and pancetta in a creme sauce
– Cream sauce and mushrooms
– Cream sauce, mushrooms and chicken
– Mozzarella and Tomatoes

:)

I ran two miles yesterday just to keep my december running streak going.

My dinner was pesto and tomato homemade pizza. It was AMAZING. I wish there were leftovers.

Reply

I love crepes. They are the best. Sunday night dinner was omelets. I was too lazy to actually cook anything.

Reply

lol you are so funny :) I would’ve asked for everything too.

My MIL is coming to our place xmas eve to make ALL the dinner. This is a magical holiday :D

Reply

We have like 5 diff types of Oreos here for all of our holiday baking, but I have never seen the Bday party kind. That is so fun! Bet they would be good dipped in chocolate like the Mint ones I made last night!

Reply

The easiest thing for Sunday night dinner: pizza! And it never gets old :D I really should start taking advantage of all the “free” weekend time to make a better meal but it seems like our weekends are busier than our weeks!

Reply

I had the most amazing crepes when I was on vacation in California earlier this year. In Long Beach there is a place called La Creperie and I had the most amazing banana cream pie crepes on the planet. Are you near Long Beach? If yes, GO!!! :)

Reply

omg I used to LOVE crepes… I bet I can make some gluten free ones. I am taking a rest day today too, because I needed the stress relief during finals I haven’t taken a day off in well over two weeks. Although it’s so hard for me! It took every ounce of will power to not go to Jazzercise with my mother! she just left…

Reply

Breakfast crepes are wonderful, scrambled eggs&ham with spinach and tomato. Of course a little syrup on top always makes it better :)

Reply

That crepe looks so yummy!! Have you been to the place called Crepes in orem? Its SOOO good and all they serve are crepes! Genious.

Reply

While the Crepes look AMAZING, the cinnamon rolls are really making me STARVING! (Please do not judge me for wanting to buy the Pillsbury ones… faster prep to eating time :) ) I have to catch up on last week’s Gossip Girl! The suspense is killing me!!

Reply

oooh i love crepes! i’ve actually made savory ones at home before and they turned out pretty well. here’s my version, but you could prob put anything in them and it’d taste good! http://www.thesweetslife.com/2011/02/butternut-squash-mushroom-and-spinach.html next time i want to use goat cheese!!

Reply

Yoga sequence for arms, since I pulled my calf muscle running 6 miles for the first time yesterday…oops. Oh, and some calf stretches.
