Christmas Came Early

Yesterday afternoon we went to the new Mission Impossible.  I loved every second of it but I was sweating bullets during some scenes and my adrenal glands are now empty, I was stressed out the entire movie.  I really get into movies and forget they aren’t real.

I finally found my perfect salad bowl, it is just the right size.

Last night we had an early Christmas with my in-laws because we are currently in route back to Utah.  We had the best salad (hard boiled eggs and string cheese cut into cubes are a must for every salad I eat from now on), roasted veggies and rice with roast.  When will they start making plates bigger? I get so frustrated having to get our of my beanbag chair for seconds.

IMG 1186

After dinner we opened presents.  In Billy’s family we draw names and the same BIL that gave me BROCCOLI for Christmas last year had my name again this year.

This is the same fanny-pack wearing brother-in-law. He knows that I have been secretly jealous of his fanny pack forever and so he made me my very own custom pack full of treats, deodorant (hmmmm), chapstick and a gift card.  Expect to see this baby all over the place on the blog.

IMG 1190

After presents we took a stroll down Candy Cane Lane.  This street is out of control.  Each house decorates every square inch of their yard and house and one house even had a fake snow maker.    The street was packed with people walking around looking at the lights.

IMG 1200

You’d think we would want hot chocolate or something after being outside on a December night but we are in S. Cali and Billy is wearing shorts……ice cream it is.

IMG 1214

Now which one?  Hey, it is was my last night here….I definitely had some of each.

————————————————-

What was the last flavor of ice-cream/fro-yo that you had?

Do you have Christmas lights up on your house/apartment?

-Nope, we are lame.

How are you getting your sweat on?

-Rest day for me!

The message of this song plus so many otrehs that are in my memory bank keep me going daily! Such encouragement to meditate on, these wonderful hymns. Oh that we could incorporate more of them in the Sunday Worship singing times.

We decorate inside and our right after Thanksgiving. Last Fro-yo flavor was white chocolate mousse and red velvet. Today I ran 7 miles and am contemplating going to the gym for weights.

Reply

WOW! That is 1 big bowl :-D Last ice cream thing we had was Artic Zero Touch of Maple. It is kind of an ice creamy protein shake.

Love the gift, he did really good! Peppermint ice cream! I need to eat more of it. :) I’m about to go run on the treadmill. We have little light shaped things in our Windows that are pretty cool. Welcome back to UT!

P.S. I posted my TM workout on my blog today…I’m trying to mix things up and get a better challenge since I find I’m faster on the TM and I want to be faster on the road :)

Last ice cream I had was Haagen Dazs Sweet Chai Latte. It was delicious!

We have lights up on our house. They’re these cool, LED lights that make the icicles look like they’re melting. My husband tries not to put them up (he’s not a fan of heights) but by December 1 the neighbors are hounding him. Everyone loves them!

That fanny pack is awesome!

I now know not to go see Mission Impossible. I too forget movies/TV shows aren’t real and get super into them. It’s very annoying to everyone else around me but I think it enhances the viewing experience. At least that’s what I tell myself, haha.

I did a bunch of lunges/push ups/squats/crunches today. Maybe one day I’ll have muscles!

Reply

I swam this a.m…early..too early :) Why don’t you have the shweddy ball B&J’s flavor? Also, that dog looks identical to mine..too cool!

I am so glad to hear you liked Mission Impossible. I love action movies and have been wanting to go see it, so now I think I will!
I hope you had the Ben & Jerry’s ice cream. That is by-far the best ice-cream of all time, doesn’t matter what flavor.

Reply

I had pumpkin pie ice cream with Christmas crack on it the other night, soo good!
We have colored lights outside and then white lights inside on our tree and above the fireplace.
Its my rest day too!
Love the fanny pack, too cute!
PS I get really into movies as well, I think sometimes I have panic attacks!

Reply

SO jeal of your fanny pack.

Instead of putting lights up or our tree, our festive activity was to workout to Christmas music every night this week together. It has been the BEST decision ever…….and I have never felt more festive, bonded, calm going into the holidays. It was awesome, and I’m really going to miss it.

Go BIL, love the creativity!!

I love that fanny pack! So cute!

Since I’ve started reading your blog, I’ve questioned why I always try to squeeze my too-big salad into a small bowl only to be disappointed when a stray piece of lettuce or veggie lands on the ground (and becomes dog food–until she spits it out 5 times in her attempts to eat it). The big “side dish” bowls are now my new salad bowls! I don’t know why I didn’t think of this before!! Thanks Janae for another wonderful idea!

Reply

We have lights yep, very simple though, just one or two strings of white lights :) Last icecream I had was Skinny Cow Cookies n Cream :)

I didn’t do much for exersize last night, walked the dogs. Today I plan to be a bit more active.

We went to see Girl with the Dragon Tattoo last night instead of Mission Impossible, kind of regretting that one. Even though I loved the books and the Swedish Movies, I was not overly impressed with this one.

Reply

That fanny pack is adorable!!! I clicked over to the picture of the broccoli. That is absolutely hilarious. I would have cried too!
I don’t even remember the last flavor of ice cream or froyo I had. I think vanilla on Thanksgiving. I need froyo in my life noooow.
No Christmas lights on the outside. But we have them on the tree and on our little bar area!
I’m going to do an easy 3 miler I think and possibly some weights or yoga!

Reply

love the fanny pack!! AND all of those ice cream flavors! ohhh boy, i’d have a little of each too. ;) i had some peppermint stick ice cream last night! so yummy.

yep, we have pretty colored lights on our house. my hubby does a great job with them. they’re not TOO much, but just enough to make it look festive.

i did a 45 minute interval treadmill run this morning – kicked my booty!

Reply

Love the fanny pack although the word fanny cringes me out haha! I had choc + strawb fro yo yesterday! I need to stop ordering smalls..they’re never enough!

Reply

My favorite ice cream is peanut butter cup, close second moose tracks. Yes we have lights on our house and candels in the windows, but some of my neighbors go all out. Ran 5 miles today in 50 degrees, love this crazy NE weather.

Reply

10″ of snow and still falling…not sure if I’ll make it the gym. Seems like a good day to hole up with the kids and play cards.

Reply

I had part of a Frosty from Wendy’s the other day.
No lights here. We are leaving this town behind tomorrow so no sense really in decorating.
Heading to the gym soon for a run and some weights.

Did you eat the Late Night Snack?! I REALLY hope you did. I know it sounds awful, but it is oh so good. My husband and I each ahve to have our own pint. It might be that I like to look at Jimmy in private. Don’t worry, my husband knows of my crush on Mr Fallon (I think he has a man crush on him as well).

We have lights in our house, but not on our house. One day. One day.

I went to the early morning turbo kick class at the gym and will do weights later today.

Reply

I had a white chocolate shake from Steak N’ Shake yesterday and it was so good :) It’s a tradition for me and my dad to eat lunch they’re and get one of their seasonal shakes during the holidays :)

I think you are on to something with the fanny pack, spi belt ain’t got nothing on you. :-)
I ran an easy 3miler this morning but I think I will be running all day. Lots to do today.

<3 the salad bowl – It's perfect! Then again… it'd be better filled with ice cream. ;) The last flavor I had was peppermint. Mmmm!

Reply

My favorite icecream is BlueBell’s Moolenium Crunch and my favorite froyo is Coconut Cream. We didn’t put lights up on the outside this year but our house is decorated. Today is a rest day as we finish all of our baking for Christmas.

Reply

I had eggnog ice cream mixed with pumpkin pie ice cream (it had huge chunks graham crackers and was life changing) I realllly recommend it!!
Also, a random question! For my first half marathon, which race would you recommend?! I’m probably looking for something in the fall, between Oct-Dec 2012? I’m buying myself a race registration for christmas :)
Have a Merry Christmas!! :)

Reply

Love the fanny pack!

Last fro yo I had was a gingerbread / egg nog combo. Amazingness.

Reply

Thus far, I took Tals for a “walk” outside, but because of the massive amounts of snow that came in, it was a major workout! It’s like knee deep!!

Reply

Last froyo flavor I enjoyed was just yesterday. It was chocolate peppermint with little mini junior mints on top and vanilla with reese’s peanut butter cups on top. Thanks for my new addiction.

The salad bowl size is absolutely perfect! You should have sneaked that into your car to bring back to Utah. MIL wouldn’t have cared would she?

Candy Cane Lane sounds awesome! Christmas lights and neighborhoods that go all out are the best.

The only Christmas lights we have up in our place are on the Christmas tree. I can’t wait to have a bigger house so that I can go all out with the decorations!

Reply

Ok, I saw Mission Impossible yesterday, too, and I was so stressed out! I think I annoyed everyone around me because I kept gasping…

Reply

OH that fanny pack is pretty awesome! Nice job Billy!

I love the idea of drawing names for gifts – makes life easier! And your gift is pretty awesome. I went for a short run this morning and now I’m off to work! Merry Christmas week, beautiful! xo

I had salad before dinner last night and I swear I was full before the steak got too me. I love salad just that much! Yours looks yummy.

Out of control decorating! Did you see that one Christmas pic where the house is all lit up and the one beside it says “Ditto”. My fav!

I’m glad that Tom Cruise movie was good. I haven’t seen any of the Mission Impossible movies but I’m thinking about giving this one a try! :)

A fanny pack?! Hilarious :P I hadn’t worn one of those since I was in elementary school until I was in college and for an 80’s themed party, one of my girlfriends and I found mini boom box fanny packs- they were awesome!

P.S. I think my Dear and I are gonna see MI3 tomorrow- we’ve been hearing mixed reviews, glad to hear you liked it!

okay, that fanny pack is PRICELESS!!! haha…can’t wait to see u put it to good use. :)

Well, my abs are totally sore from pillates yesterday, I will run 4 miles today. We don’t have lights on the house (except for on the garland around the front door and we have 3 trees up, all of which you can see from the windows and the golf course. I think it looks great but my little kids are less than pleased. My neighbors pretty much put us to shame (if your into tons of crazy colorful lights and blow up Santa’s the size of my bus like Yukon). :) Love the salad bowl, I used to have a big one, but it got used for a puke bowl at one point so…

Reply

love the fanny pack! your family is too cute. Do you watch the show New Girl? (if you dont you should bc its hilarious) but they went to Candy Cane lane on the Christmas episode!

Reply

My husband used to make fun of me for wearing a fanny pack…..that is until we went to Six Flags one year and he had to put some of his stuff in it, and realized how useful they are!!! Power to the Fanny!!!

The last ice cream I had was a oreo cookie roll of ice cream. It comes in a huge roll, and you cute a piece off! So good. (Do ya’ll have Blue Bell Ice cream in Utah?)

Yes, we went with the classic Icicle white lights on our house, but I love looking at other people’s colorful lights!

Reply

Last fro-yo flavor I had was strawberry. We have a little strand of Christmas lights on our balcony porch at our apartment. And not much sweat for me today. I wasn’t feeling it, so I did some pilates instead of the P90X plyometrics I had planned on. I guess all this holiday stuff is wearing me out. I think it’s nap time now!

Reply

LOVE the fanny pack! Awesome gift.

I had some sort of turtle ice cream. (what? I’m supposed to be jansugarfree, right? The last few weeks I’ve been cheating a little :S)

First year we’ve done some lights outside…. the kids insisted that we were scrooges because we never did outside lights, so I caved in. The lack of snow made it easier, considering I procrastinated getting them up.

4 miles- In maintenance mode, just keeping a base until I decide to train for another race.

Reply

Love the fanny pack! What a fun gift.

Yesterday I took the kids to the beach and of course we got ice cream. I went for my usual. Coconut gelato. Yummy!

We always have lights on our house, but this year we’re living in New Zealand where lights are crazy expensive, so we just did one single strand around the front door.

As far as a workout goes – I was planning on something sweatier, but my daughter kept me up most of the night and I feel like a zombie today. A yoga DVD at home will be it for today.

Janae-
Seriously, the more I train for these marathons (I’m running my second at the end of January in Miami!), the more impressed I am by gals like you & SR. Seriously. I had an 18 miler today & it was….well, eventful. Ha!

Fo real though, y’all are impressive.

Your hubby’s family sounds like a blast & I’m glad y’all are having a great time in Cali. :)

LOL!!! I love that fanny pack, seriously the greatest gift ever! And wow, Candy Cane lane kind of sounds like a Christmas amusement park – love it! We have some lights on our house but definintely not that many haha. AAnnd today I’m getting my sweat on first by pool-running and then REAL running for 15 minutes or so! :-D
