Halloween Traditions

Remember how I told you yesterday about how my students were chasing me with chairs trying to break my pinata to get candy…..they didn’t have any luck and therefore decided to give me a constant reminder on my car that I need to bring them candy.

Yes, I am one of those people with a sticker on my car to show whoever is behind me that I have run a marathon.

I am sure you can guess (if you have read my blog for at least a few days) that Halloween is one of my favorite holidays because:

1.  Candy everywhere you look.

2.  Everyone is hyper because of the large amounts of sugar and want to run around and be crazy with me.

3.  All of the awesome costumes.  The more extreme/creative/time-consuming the costume the better.

Billy and I tagged along with my sister and her family to go trick-or-treating in the neighborhood that I grew up in.  Turns out a few of the neighbors read my blog and knew of my candy obsession and ‘forced’ me to take a bunch of candy. Twenty-five years old and still trick-or-treating.

Maybe my new candy supply will last me through the plane ride to New York but if we want to be realistic it will only last until the first layover.

Photo 12

Raggedy Ann, pinata awesomeness and a ninja.

They had to drop off their FIRST bag of candy because they were getting too heavy….they went back out for more.

Photo 9

My nieces and nephew were quite upset when they found out that Aunt tax raised to 20% this year…..somehow all of their Milky Ways and Skittles disappeared.

Billy and I went to my most favorite Halloween tradition ever.  Ever since I was 12 years old I went over to my best friend’s house for scones EVERY Halloween.

They were just as good as I remembered and Billy experienced his first Halloween scone and could understand why it was my favorite tradition.

Butter and honey is a requirement for these scones.

How did you spend your Halloween?

Do you have any bumper stickers?  26.2? 13.1?

Have you ever had a scone?  I don’t know if Utah’s scones are different from other places but basically it is a large piece of fried dough that get really fluffy and light (because they are so light… 4 large scones=1 serving).

What is your workout today?

-Spin bike and elliptical for me.

Did I miss the results of the Altra giveaway?? I can’t find them!

I have a 26.2 and a “Will Run for Wine” sticker.

And Utah’s scones definitely look different than other scones!! I think scones other places are baked!

Reply

They haven’t done it yet… I will post the results as soon as I get them wahoo!! LOVE your bumper stickers….I need will run for sugar.

Reply

I had 13.1 on my car. Now it is 26.2. Yay!

Reply

WAHOOOO Congrats for the 26.2 sticker, that is so awesome!

Reply

Spent it watching my husband give out candy in the driveway and talking to the neighbors.
I have a 13.1 sticker, a Wag More, Bark Less as well.
LOVE Scones. But here they are more like the English variety. A baked, dense triangle of awesomeness.
Workout with the trainer today. Fun Fun.

Hahah “Aunt tax” actually made me LOL- good one, I’m going to start using it! Also we would make a good trick-or-treating team: I hate Milky Ways! Have you been to London? If not, just wait till you try their scones with clotted cream & jam…you might just die :D

Reply

Halloween was just a regular day here. I got crazy and ate Cinnamon Toast Crunch for dinner in lieu of candy.

No bumper stickers, I secretly want a 26.2 one, but I don’t want to get it until I run a sub-4:00 marathon. It doesn’t feel like I have really done it until I achieve that goal.

I did a 1-hour spinning podcast this morning. I am SOOOO thankful for spinning podcasts so that I have someone yelling in my ear telling me “If your legs say that you can’t do this, tell them that they are wrong. Nobody is going to die in the next few minutes.” :-)

Reply

Cinnamon toast crunch for dinner….you are a smart girl! WOW that podcast sounds killer. What is that podcast listed as?

Reply

They are from the Trihardist website: http://www.trihardist.com/p/cycling-workouts.html

Some pretty good workouts in my opinion! :-)

Reply

Brit- you’re an amazing marathoner! :)

Reply

That scone looks delicious!!

I only have a college sticker on my car, but after this weekend I can add a 26.2, yayyy!

Reply

WAHOOOOO!!! I am so excited for your marathon and I can’t wait to read all about it!

Reply

The kids look adorable! I’m wishing that my niece and nephews didn’t live 750 miles away.. because I could totally rock the aunt candy tax.. hmm who has anything with caramel?! What kind of scone is that?

Reply

750 miles away? That is way too far…..caramel is definitely part of the tax law…100%

Reply

Yum! Your scones look like our fausnots. So good. My dad used to make them and then smother them in powdered sugar and Kings Syrup….hello high fructose corn syrup! haha!

Reply

Fausnots…I have never heard of them but they sound delicious…especially with that syrup! Have a great day Andrea!

Reply

My mother in law calls Utah scones “dough dads” and my mom calls them “fry bread.” I think calling it a scone is specific to Utah. Looooooove them though, no matter what you call them.

Reply

DOUGH DADS…I love that name!

Reply

I am liking the idea of an aunt tax!
I spent my halloween by going for a run and making swamp chilli! I’ll be running again tonight. I haven’t had a Utah scone – I think English ones are maybe lighter and fluffier than the normal US scone? My experience is incredibly limited though I admit :)

Reply

HEY YOU!!! Yay for running and swamp chilli (ps what is the swamp part?) I need to try an English scone!! PS I am loving your blog! I left a comment but I think it went to spam!

Reply

Hey! I based the swamp chilli on this one: http://www.foodandwine.com/recipes/swamp-chili except I used sweet potato instead of meatballs (adding the chilli powder straight into the soupy part) and used kale not spinach.
Thank you for the comment on my blog! I dug around and rescued it :)

Reply

The candy and scone look delicious! I’d take the Skittles, too. :c) Love the costumes.

Reply

I’m not a bumper sticker girl, so I typically put them all over my thousand water bottles. It spices them up a bit! :)

I didn’t do ANYTHING yesterday! I got sick over the weekend and was fairly miserable yesterday. Oh well–maybe next year will be better!

Reply

OH hey…. I totally have that 26.2 on my car… and while I hate to admit this, it kind of makes me feel slightly badass when I see someone look at it at the gym. Until I see someone with an Ironman sticker…. and then I’m like oh right I can’t swim or balance myself upright too well on a bike. Not so badass….

Some treadmill mileage this morning because yesterday I fell outside in a pothole… not kidding. So today I decided to opt against the pitch black running and just get on the dreadmill :)

Reply

Yeah, I really want to get a 13.1 sticker for my car (and hopefully a 26.2 sticker someday). Some people might think it’s showy or weird, but I think that I’ve worked so hard to get there and it’s one of the things I’m most proud of… so why not show it off? ;)

Reply

The hubby and I spent our Halloween at home passing out candy to all the cute trick-or-treaters! It was so much fun to see all the costumes on the little kids.
No bumper stickers… I’ve never really been much of a bumper sticker fan.
Mmmm I looooove scones!! Chocolate chip scones are my fav.
My workout today is some sort of cardio workout… I’m thinking an interval workout on the treadmill.

Reply

I spent my halloween managing to miss all of our trick or treaters. Bummer.

That is unlike any scone I’ve ever seen. But it looks amazing!

I want the 26.2 sticker, but I kind of want someone to give it to me instead of buying it myself. Is that weird? Maybe Mike will put one in my stocking at Christmas.

I love that your students tagged your car!

Reply

I’ve got a 13.1 sticker on my car and I actually noticed yesterday that someone tried to rip it off! I’m so annoyed!! I’ve got to get a new one now. I think it’s a great way to show an accomplishment and I get so excited when I see another car with one. Your little ones (I know they aren’t your kids lol) are soooo cute!

Reply

I don’t have any stickers on my car. My mirror in the bathroom says 26.2 , though. It’s a goal.
The mom tax this year is like 50%. It’s pretty awesome.

Oh, and that is not a scone. A scone is like a sweet biscuit. THAT, is a beignet. You Utahans and your strange foods.

Reply

50%….wow, I need to follow your lead!! We really are strange with our foods….as long as it tastes good I am happy:)

Reply

We handed chips and Play Doh out to the kids! All 30 of them… haha.
I did 30 Day Shred this morning since I am working 8am-9pm today and won’t have time after work!

Reply

NO bumperstickers on my car, I like the verrry simple look. BUT I MAY make an exception after I run my first marathon (in two weeks) eek!!!!

I love halloween because it’s the one holiday when everyone is encouraged to be creative!

Reply

I didn’t do anything for Halloween except write & read blogs, and veg out on the couch while watching TV. Lame, I know.

And I don’t have any stickers on my car. Wonder if I could find a 3.1 sticker?

Reply

I handed out/ate a ton of candy this Halloween … :)

Reply

I don’t have a car but I keep telling my roommate that I’m getting a 26.2 sticker after NYC and pinning it to my back so everyone on the subway can see i’ve ran a marathon. :)

I didn’t have ANY trick or treaters this year! I was sad until I realized that meant I could eat all the candy myself.

Reply

BAHAHA We should get velcro ones that we can attach to any outfit we wear for the rest of our lives….NO TRICK or TREATERS, that is sad…but you are right, more candy for you:)

Reply

Oh my goodness, Janae! Those scones look amazing. I will be dreaming and drooling over those scones all day. I love scones! I spent my Halloween recovering from the Atlanta Marathon (it was Sunday). It was so hilly – I feel your pain on those downhills. My quads are screaming at me! I didn’t PR, but I went into the race just wanting to finish and have fun (having ran Chicago earlier this month). I accomplished both goals, so that is a WIN in my book! The best part of the race? Post-race snacks, of course! Chocolate milk, bananas, peanut butter cookies, and PIZZA! It was amazing. You better believe I took 4 little cartons of chocolate milk. For recovery, not because it was chocolate;) I do not have a bumper sticker. I think maybe when I run my 10th marathon (I’m at 4 right now), I’ll get 10 stickers and plaster my car with them:) No workout for me today, except maybe a nice, slow walk or a few slow miles on the bike. I’m taking a few days off completely to ensure my body fully recovers. I am super excited for you this weekend for NYC! You are going to rock it, girl! I will say some prayers for a healthy and fun race for you!!

Reply

CONGRATS ON YOUR MARATHON!! I am so happy for you. Those hills will beat you up and I know how your quads are feeling. PIZZA, that is the best post-race food ever. I am sure the chocolate had nothing to do with it:) 10 stickers would be awesome. Thanks for the prayers, I really appreciate it and RECOVER. Congrats again…2 marathons so close together=amazing!

Reply

i was so bummed that i didnt get ANY halloween candy this year :( hopefully a coworker will take pity of me and spare me a milky way or reeses!

i have an M dot (ironman) bumper sticker on my car! i need to replace it since its currently disgustingly dirty and peeling off.

Reply

I think you need to get a poster board size sticker for doing an ironman…that is what I would do at least. I want to send you some candy….you NEED some;)

Reply

Hi Janae! I have to tell you that your costume is the best I have seen this year! So creative and awesome! I love your Aunt tax. I will have to remember that next year!

Your scones look way different! I think we need the recipe!

Reply

Joanna, thank you so much for your sweet comment. I will get that recipe ASAP!

Reply

I am the QUEEN of car stickers. I have a TON of 13.1’s and a 26.2’s.

I have never had a scone, but that looks awesome! I don’t even know where I would get one of those around here!

My Halloween was a 3 mile run while the little trick-or-treaters were out – it was really fun to see all the costumes and decorations!

Reply

My Halloween was horrible. My oldest daughter decided she wanted to go trick-or-treating with her best friend, which Ireluctantly gave in to (I think she’s too old to trick or treat since she’s 12…and she looks like she’s 17). After she got back (at 9PM), we discovered that she needed to take supplies to school for a science project they’re working on in class, so we had to go out and get the stuff. On the way, I almost got run off the road by no less than SIX fire trucks and FOUR ambulances. That was all after I got in a fight with my husband because I said it was far too late to be trying to get the supplies on such short notice (really, science teacher?)…he disagreed with me, vehemently (“Sheanna, it’s due tomorrow! She needs to have it!”), and that would be why I was trapsing around after 9PM on Halloween fetching a styrofoam ball, some ribbon, bubble wrap, push-pins and decorative jewels to make a model of a CELL! Worst. Halloween. Ever.

Reply

Sheanna, I am so sorry that your Halloween is awful! Holy cow…your drive sounds SO scary and fights are the worst. Wow, I really am so sorry about your night…I hope tonight is much better!

Reply

OMG that’s a TON of candy!! those kids will be set till Thanksgiving lol! Also that scone looks amazing, it should be an every single day tradition :-D

I do have a 13.1 bumper sticker and a USATF sticker! But my parents don’t like me putting things on the car they paid for so I’ve decorated my laptop instead – now people come up to me in coffee shops and start talking about running haa.

Reply

I’m not a fan of bumper stickers, I like things to look super simple, although that one you have is actually not bad. We spent the evening giving out candy and eating way to much of it.

I ran 5k this morning, going to hit the elliptical and do a HIIT workout tonight I think. Love your blog :)

Reply

Congrats on your 5k this morning wahooo!!! I ate too much candy too ha. Girl, thanks for your sweet comment and I am happy that I have found your blog now!

Reply

26.2 on my van. But I tried to rip it off when I had my last stress fracture.. LOL! I was mad. Today? Hmm not sure yet.

Reply

I almost took mine off too ha!

Reply

I have a 13.1 sticker–hopefully it will be replaced by a 26.2 in about 12 days!!
I have never seen a scone like that. I love the English scones, with lots of clotted cream and jam. It’s so incredible! Every spring I make them at least once.
Workout today – run!

Reply

I love the little raggedy ann costume- so cute :D They are all adorable- I swear you have the cutest nieces & nephews EVER.
I need to join in on your Halloween tradition- scones with butter & honey?! YUM! I love scones, but the ones I makes are more dense- like a cookie- not really flaky. I have a good recipe for a blueberry scone- so good!!

Reply

Thanks Holly…I think so too. PLEASE come next year for scones:) I need your blueberry scone recipe!

Reply

For my halloween I came to work dressed as a pig. The reason I dressed as a pig is because Chipotle was selling their burritos for $2.00 if you came dressed as something from the family farm. They donated the $2.00 back to local farms which was cool. I also made pumpkin shaped cookies for the office. I don’t have any running stickers, although I want to get some. I have a sticker from my college and also from Copper Mountain. As for scores, none of the scones I have ever tried looked that good! Workout today is an easy 3 miles and weights.

Reply

A PIG…that is awesome. I would definitely dress up for a $2 burrito and that is awesome that they donate to local farms. I need to send you a delicious Utah scone;)

Reply

I wanted a 13.1 sticker so bad last year while I was training for my half and then I finished it, had gotten way more into reading blogs about running, etc and felt like it was lame to put a 13.1 sticker on my car. I know this sounds horrible and I’m not trying to downplay a half or the training that goes into it but I feel like it’s not “badass” enough to warrant the sticker. It’s funny I feel that way b/c this girl is not doing a full or any sort of triathalon, HIM or Ironman in the future and so basically I’m cheating myself out of a sticker. It’s weird too b/c my half last year (and hopefully my upcoming one in 3 weeks) was one of my proudest moments. Anyway…11 miles today is my workout :)

Reply

WHATEVER…a half marathon is INCREDIBLE and you should show that off because that makes you hardcore! ELEVEN MILES wahoo!! I think you should get the sticker especially after your upcoming one…that is a huge accomplishment!

Reply

no stickers…yet!

today i am planning on doing 2.5 miles on the treadmill in my new running shoes!

Reply

Enjoy your new shoes…that is the BEST!

Reply

Yup, I have a sticker…70.3 I got the sticker the night before the race and asked my hubby to put it on my car. He said, “No, not until you finish the race…I’d hate to have to peel it off the window.”

Short run today. I’m short and my mileage is short.

Reply

Seriously, how sad would that be to have to peel the sticker off ha! Hope you enjoyed your ‘short’ run ha:)

Reply

I’ve had a scone but that one looks way better….yum. What grade do you teach. Colin said the other day “wow, can you imagine if you had the HRG as a teacher as a teen” – implying that you are far too good-looking for young boys lol and I told him you also teach drivers ed…..he almost fell over. He said, wow those kids must get in lots of accidents! :P ….don’t worry Billy, he’s married to me!

Reply

BAHAHAH this comment made my day ha. I teach high-school ha….poor kids. No accidents so far…knock on wood.

Reply

YUM scone. and look at all that candy!!! haha

Reply

hahaha your halloween looks mucho fun!!

i didnt do anything on halloween this year :( just went running. i’m saving up my energy so that me and kev can go crazy next year…and hopefully tag along with his nephew going trick or treating..hes still really young (about to be 2 next month) but he dressed up as elmo this year…TOO CUTE!

i have a 13.1 sticker and a runner girl sticker :) you should totally make a hungry runner girl sticker because i would consider that a necessary one for my car as well..hahaha. i cant wait for the day that i can put a 26.2 one on as well!
im not a huge fan of scones to be honest..but ive only ever sampled the ones from starbucks. that scone you have pictured looks delicious…nom!

workout today was spinning class and weight training on arms and shoulders :)

Reply

In the midwest we call those scones “elephant ears”. They sell them at all the local fairs. But I work at a Mexican restaurant where they are called “sopapillas”.

I think I DO have a 26.2 bumper sticker but I never put it on my car!!

Reply

Elephant Ears, I love that name! You should put the sticker on:)

Reply

Very random, but saw this article and thought it would be an interesting read for you! :)

Will be thinking of you in NY!

Hey Katie…I don’t see the article link….can you repost it or email it to me?

Reply

I have a bumper sticker that says 200.0….for Hood to Coast!

Reply

I have a 1997 Chevy Blazer that although the body looks good, it will probably die soon, and I always say i want to keep my rear window if I can’t get the stickers off because I have, Runner Girl, 26.2, 13.1 and the ultimate 50K…I love when i see people behind reading them and then they drive along side to see what the owner of the stickers looks like, heehee!

Reply

You better keep that rear window!! 50K…you are my hero! They probably think…she is hardcore!

Reply

Your niece is an awesome pinata, too!

No bumper stickers for me.

W/O? Ran five this morning. Heading to the gym tonight. Littlest BHF kid starts swim lessons, so I will have to be on the pool deck and sacrifice my workout time. May get in something while I am there….

Reply

How funnnn!!!! We just gave out candy. Ninjas were where it was AT for boys that age this year in Utah, I saw about 900.

I was going to say, those scones look different than what I think a scone is. Looks amazing though!!

I hit the weights this mornng, and this afternoon (weather permitting, I am going to do an easy run).

Reply

Scones are big at my house too. We generally have them on Memorial & Labor Day. We eat ours with butter and maple syrup. Delish!

Reply

I need to try maple syrup on my next scone!

Reply

That Raggedy Ann costume is adorable!

Reply

No Halloween in South Africa, lame I know. It just makes me want to go all out when I move back.

Those scones are different than scones I’m used to, but they look amazing. Scones here are round and circular and served with clotted cream and strawberry jam, old school British style.

You little niece’s costume is too cute. She should not take that off because she looks like a doll

Reply

SAD….I will send you some candy:) I know, she really does look like a doll ha!

Reply

Just a 13.1 sticker! :) I want summa your scones!

Reply

We relaxed and gave out candy! :)

My workout today is a run outside after work…it’s cold but sunny so I am looking forward to it!

Reply

Have a blast on your run tonight Heidi!

Reply

Aunt tax. LOVE it. haha :)

Reply

No cars in nyc for me, so no bumper stickers :( Today is a rest day for me. I am getting sick…yikes! Need to be careful! So few days left!! :)

Reply

Love this post. What a fun Halloween. I absolutely love that your little neice wanted to be a pinata just like her aunt and Mom. How cute is she.

Those scones look amazing. Maybe your best friend can be my best friend next year so I can get invited to the scone party. Love you Janae and can’t stop thinking about your marathon Sunday. so so so excited for you!

Reply

You are totally invited next year!!! Thanks so much Rachelle, hope you are having a great day at work today…remember how you rocked that half?!?!

Reply

That scone looks like a sopapilla, have you ever had one before? So delicious, with butter, honey, cinnamon sugar and sometimes chocolate! Here in Kansas we bake our scones, I had a cranberry orange one last week!

I will be getting my first ultramarathon bumper sticker here in a few weeks!!! I found one that said “Oh you ran a marathon? That’s cute. I ran an ultra” and I thought it was hilarious!

Reply

I haven’t but I think I need to try one now….cinnamon sugar, yes please. AHHH so excited for your ULTRA sticker..you better get that one, you are hardcore!

Reply

Sopapilla’s are the best in Texas in my opinion…maybe Billy should be applying to law school in the Lone Star state!!

Reply

Yep that is definitely a sopapilla.

Reply

I just ate a lemon cranberry scone! How am I always eating what you are posting about?! Although, my scones aren’t light and fluffy like yours! And- hold on– A HALLOWEEN SCONE?! That looks AMAZING! Can I get the recipe for that?!

Reply

YES…I will get my bf’s mom to give it to me. Great minds think alike:)

Reply

Janae!! If you ever come up to Ogden, you should go to Jeremiah’s… Their scones are amazing, like the size of a dinner plate!! And they aren’t very expensive…. Now you got me craving one!!! Mouth watering…. So much for me trying to eat better today :)

Love the photo of the car, love the photo of the kiddies even more! Sounds like you had a great Halloween weekend and Halloween.

1. Hubbie and I took our 3-year old trick-or-treating. This is the first year I think she really understood what to expect. However, our neighbors think she is so cute and would say “Take two” from the bowl. Then we would get to other houses and she would take two pieces thinking that was the rule. Too funny and everyone laughed. One neighbor said “Come back tomorrow and you can have all my leftover candy”, so at all the other houses she would say “I will come back tomorrow for the rest of your candy”. What a hoot.

2. They gave out 13.1 bumper stickers at the half-marathon I just did two weeks ago. I am going to hang it up in my office. It was my third half-marathon.

3. I have had scones, but the ones I have had are just basically cake. The one you list sounds WAY better than any scone I have had!

4. Workout: 3 mile easy run. I have speedwork on Thursday. I am like you: I am a bit addicted to my training plan and have to know what I am doing each day. I was at the gym at 5 this morning.

Reply

I’m so jealous of your sticker! I would love a 13.1 sticker for my car but it’s just not something you ever see in the UK! We’ve obviously not caught on to that yet :(

And can I just say, the pinata costumes? Sheer brilliance!

Reply

that is the cutest Raggedy Ann i’ve ever seen!

Reply

Def rocking the 13.1. In February when I finish my first marathon I will be placing a 26.2 sticker on there for sure!!

Reply

Oh, LOVE the kids costumes! My 6 yr old niece was Raggedy Ann as well and everyone loved it (looks homemade).
I love the Aunt Tax..hmm, maybe I need to incorporate taxes from here on out!!

Ya, your scones look a bit different than what I have had.
I have had dense cake like scones, baked and sort of heavy…definitely not fried!!

Reply

I have a 13.1 pink sticker shaped like Mickey Mouse (’cause I did the WDW half). Haven’t put it on my car because my car is too new and pretty for bumper stickers. Besides – the pink would clash with the speedy red of my awesome car.

Scones. Love them. But definitely different than what you describe. Dense and yummy. Now I want one.

Reply

I love Halloween, especially when kids are involved. We went out with my four year old stepson and it was so much fun. He got a boatload of candy and we’re thinking of donating most of it to the troops. I certainly don’t need to be eating it all!

Reply

Scones here are not like fried dough. They are more of a harder, basically day old muffin texture. Bummer. Yours look way better.

Reply

Booooo….I am going to try and get the recipe from my friends mom and then maybe you can make them at home!

Reply

Such cute costumes!! I just went to the gym, had dinner, handed out candy, and watched tv. Party animal right here.
I don’t have bumper stickers YET. I am dying to rock some though. Once I run my first half I will totally have one ;D
I’ve never had a scone. I don’t know why but I totally should.
My workout will be a run and stretching or a short yoga video on demand.

Reply

The pinata costume is classic. I love it!!!
My Mom makes scones the same way, we have them every year on christmas morning…I can’t wait! I top mine with a cinnamon/sugar mix and some with butter and jelly. Can’t go wrong :)

Reply

I had to work yesterday but at night, I passed out candy to all the kids in our neighborhood. It was so fun to see all the costumes! And of course, I ate more candy than I care to admit! :)

I don’t have any bumper stickers yet. I had one for a radio station on my old car, but nothing on my new one. Maybe after I run my first half marathon next year, I’ll get a 13.1!

The scones here in Michigan are like a biscuit. My mom always made them with raisins in them. Yours sound 10 times better though!

Today’s workout was the elliptical and then weights.

Reply

I handed out candy to the kiddies and totally ran out of candy by 7:30. AAH! Last year we barely had anyone, and I had tons of candy leftover (that I ate). This year I bought two bags of candy and ran out really quickly. Bummer.

Today’s workout was 3 miles on the treadmill and some upper body stuff. The run felt GOOD.

Reply

You crack me up with your love for candy! I, too, am a sweetsaholic but I try my best to tame it b/c I pack on the pounds very easily. :) For most of college I lived off of a candy bar for lunch and sometimes dinner. My husband always picks on me for that!

As for Halloween, we took our little kitty cat and Spider Man trick-or-treating & I’ve enjoyed eating some of their candy today!

I did get in 5 GREAT miles this morning with a friend with a PR of 41 min! It was hard I tell ya but I’m proud that I did it. I have a half in 1.5 weeks and my 1st MARATHON in 5 weeks!

Can I just say I LOVE your costume? It rocks
I love scones… and want to try baking them! My mom always makes homemade scones for company!
I have a bumper sticker that says BB for bethany beach which is where we have a beach house!
Also I am glad you share my love of Halloween! It really is the greatest holiday! My friends were downers this year but luckily I have the best roomie ever and she invited me alng to go to a haunted house with her and her boy and his friends! And she dressed up with me since she knew how important my costume was to me and how excited I was about it!
My work out today will be a three mile run!

Reply

Oh my gosh, my students write on my car, too! But usually just in the dirt/dust on the car, not using paint :) Haha

Reply

“Top of Utah 26.2” and “Ragnar” sticker on my Jeep. Runner pride! I love that your niece wanted to be a pinata, too. I’m a scone demon- I top mine with honey, butter, and jam- all three toppings create a trifecta perfecta. Obviously I eat Utah scones and I’m certain other scones are inferior to ours- especially if they aren’t submerged in oil! Hello?!

Reply

I have a 26.2 sticker and am proud of it!! Workout was 5 miles with mile repeats. It was sooo hard waking up to run this morning.

Reply

I was supposed to go trick-or-treating with my little sis but she got all i’m-12-and-too-old-to-go thing so I went to watch movies with a friend instead. We”watched” movies while eating snickers, kit-kats, and hershey bars.

Your scone looks way different than the scones I’m used to. Ours are harder and usually have icing or filled with fruit.

Reply

Hahahaha I LOVE that your niece wore the pinata costume. Absolutely awesome.

And I totally want a 13.1 sticker after my half marathon. If they don’t give me one, I may have to steal one off of someone’s car. ;)

I love the aunt tax! I’m going to start doing that with my neice and nephew. I’ve always said that I’m waiting to have kids of my own until my neice is old enough to baby sit because she owes me at least 2 years of free baby sitting.

I proudly display my 13.1 magnet and cannot wait to add the 26.2 in a few weeks. I also feel a pride and unity whenever I pass other cars with the 13.1 or 26.2 stickers. My people!

Yes I have a 26.2 magnet – but when I have bad runs or get frustrated I take it off and then when I have a good run I put it back on, haha. My coworkers have noticed this trend and now ask me what happened at work!

I am going to NYC this weekend too!!! YAY so excited!!!

Hubs and I spent Halloween passing out candy :)

No stickers ’cause I get upset at bumper stickers…. because they make my car sticky. But I love them on other cars!

Workout today: Early mornin’ jog!!! Still pain-free on the stress-fracture front. Not so much on the lung-front. I should check that out.

The little ones are precious; what an amazing family you’re blessed with! :)

I have a “26.2 been there, run that” stick on my side window.

And I’m a firm believer that the day after Halloween is the best holiday…all candy is 1/2 off!
