Listening to the Doc and some Running Nutrtion

This whole only running every three days is getting harder and harder to follow.  This was my view from the stair climber this morning.  A beautiful lonely treadmill that really just wanted a friend.  I could be that friend. I decided to listen to that guy that went to school for 30 years to become a doctor and cross-train until Saturday when I am allowed to run again.

You know you are a running geek when your home page on your computer switches daily between Runners World and Running Times.

Something I have been seeing all over the place is the importance of EGG YOLKS for runners.  I don’t know about you, but I used to be the egg-white queen because I thought the yolk was too high in cholesterol and fat.

That mentality has changed and I have become the whole egg eater queen because:

1.  They are dang cheap, I have more important things to spend money on (like eating at all the best NYC restaurants a month from now).

2.  They are ridiculously good looking (remember Zoolander?) okay I meant ridiculously good for you.

Runners World gave a list of the best foods to protect your body from damage caused by running.…….  (Black Rice was also on the list:)

EGG YOLKS
Egg yolks are a leading source of lutein and zeaxanthin, a dynamic antioxidant duo that accumulate in the retina, where they protect eye health. Researchers at Tufts University discovered that lutein is better absorbed from eggs than other sources, such as spinach. Yolks also provide selenium, vitamin E, high-quality protein, and choline, a nutrient that can help improve heart health, says Gidus.
POWER UP: Make a breakfast taco by topping tortillas with scrambled eggs, diced tomatoes, and basil.  (Billy make sure you have this bfast taco ready for me by 7:15 a.m. every morning from now on.

Runners World also said this about eggs:

“One egg fulfills about 10 percent of your daily protein needs. Egg protein is the most complete food protein short of human breast milk, which means the protein in eggs contains all the crucial amino acids your hard-working muscles need to promote recovery. Eat just one of these nutritional powerhouses and you’ll also get about 30 percent of the Daily Value (DV) for vitamin K, which is vital for healthy bones. And eggs contain choline, a brain nutrient that aids memory, and leutin, a pigment needed for healthy eyes. Choose omega-3 enhanced eggs and you can also increase your intake of healthy fats. Don’t worry too much about the cholesterol: Studies have shown that egg eaters have a lower risk for heart disease than those who avoid eggs.”IMG 0006

I have been having egg sandwiches or salads at least once a day.  My favorite salad (above) contains black rice, lettuce, broccoli, 3 whole eggs and don’t tell Billy but after the picture I added some of his flaming hot cheetohs on top as croutons.  TJ’s Spicy Peanut Vinaigerette is my new favorite dressing.  When I run out of that dressing will someone that lives near TJ’s send me some:)

I think that there are eggs in the ingredient list of these:)

IMG 0009

Remember how I was supposed to make dessert last Sunday?  Well that didn’t happen and so the ingredients have been in my kitchen calling my name all day every day.  My sis and I found a killer deal on Milky Way’s so we stocked up to make an awesome truffle, although I think it is making a much better after dinner ‘snack.’

Are you allergic to anything?

-All of this egg talk reminded me about how my dad is deathly allergic to EGGS:(  I am allergic to certain type of antibiotics but that is it.

Are you an egg-eater?  Yolk eater?  Milky Way eater?

What was your workout today?

we eat eggs-the whole ones, a lot in our house!! And yes, like you I was phobic of yolks, until I learned better, guess my degree in health paid off :)

Love your site!!! and your salad looked yummy!

Reply

THANKS GIRL!! You are so sweet. My degree is in health too:) Have a great day.

Reply

I eat eggs pretty much everyday. I have to buy them in bulk at Costco. I should buy Milky Way in bulk, I love the Dark ones.
I am allergic to some antibiotics as well, usually the ones that come in shot form. Thank goodness for that, I think I am allergic to shots too. ;-)
I had a 30min run and a 1700m swim. Glad that’s over with.

Reply

We get ours in bulk too…..eggs and milky ways:) I think we are all allergic to shots ha. KILLER WORKOUT! WAY TO GO!

Reply

I’m not allergic to anything but I have a friend allergic to FRESH FRUIT. Not normal. She literally has to COOK it if she wants to eat it. So weird.

I don’t eat eggs, never did! I don’t really like the taste or texture. It’s always been weird to me! I will eat things containing eggs though…like cookies, cake, etc! Can’t keep me from those!

Today’s workout: 1-mile warm-up – leg workout – 1-mile cool-down – and I have FitBox tonight :)

Reply

FRESH FRUIT!?!?! Um, that actually makes me sad! PS I loved reading about you two met in the last post:) You make me happy.

Reply

I am not allergic to anything and know I am lucky for that!
I love whole eggs, adding hard boiled ones to my salad is my fav :)
After work I am going to do a HIIT routine on the treadmill and abs :)

Reply

Good call on the hard boiled eggs…I need to start doing that again. Have fun on the treadmill and abs…you are going to rock it!

Reply

Love eggs and so does my two year old daughter. I think it just might be her favorite food. I also love milky ways. The only thing I’m allergic to is penicillin.

Reply

So does my sis! I am going to have to send you some Milky Ways! How are you feeling? You are getting so so close!

Reply

I’m a huge egg white person – I can have a yolk if the eggs are scrambled but absolutely not a hard boiled egg yolk I just hate the taste!! Can’t get over how chalky it is lol

Work is almost done and I’m still trying to decide on my workout — Run outside or on treadmill? it’s currently 86 outside but ZERO wind ::sigh:: Runners World plan has me doing a Tempo Run and since I completed my longest straight run outside ever Tuesday I’m not even scared of a lil Tempo! (don’t get too excited it was just 5miles Tuesday lol but it was big for me ’cause I’m still a newb)

Reply

WHATEVER…that is hardcore girl and you are going to rock it! Tough call on whether or not to run outside or on the treadmill…..I say go outside:) HAVE FUN!

Reply

I LOVE eggs!!

Research actually shows that it is more the saturated fat and lifestyle that can cause the higher cholesterol levels…not the yolk in eggs! Crazy, eh?? Of course eating too much of the eggs overtime would probably raise the cholesterol just a little.

I don’t like milky ways, but I loooovvee Swiss Lindt dark chocolate. Or sea salt/caramel dark chocolate. YUMM.

Reply

YOU NAILED IT ABOUT THE EGGS AND CHOLESTEROL but I am a little upset about the Milky Way comment…..if you ever get any from someone you better send them straight to me:)

Reply

i wish I liked eggs, I know that they are so good for you and such a great way to get protein in the morning, but i think they are DISGUSTING. i have always been grossed out by them and then in middle school i had a stomach problem and had to have a test where I eat radioactive eggs to follow it down my GI tract…I was crying the entire time because I had radioactive scrambled eggs and my friend had the same test a week before and had a DONUT.

sorry the treadmill taunted you. awesome self control!

Reply

That does not sound fun….radioactive eggs? Oh girl, I don’t think I could ever eat them again after that. DONUT…no fair!

Reply

I love eggs… and your hoodie. Where’d you get it? :)

Reply

I splurged….Lulu…..you will see me in it every day for the rest of my life.

I used to be allergic to eggs and potatoes as a lil’ tot but thank goodness I grew out of that one. No French fries? That was torture as a kid! I throw eggs in everything these days, oats, salads, even make my own egg drop soup…super simple. I love hearing deets about how good they are for us crazy runners! Anything to promote injury prevention gets an A in my book!!

Reply

Eggs and potatoes….that made my heart hurt! Um, I need your egg drop soup recipe!

Reply

I just recently started to like eggs!

Still can’t get into deviled eggs though :(

Workout today was 7 miles outside in the BRISK FALL CHILLY AIR!!! I love fall!!

And I love all things Milky Way… who doesn’t??!! Is the sky blue?

Reply

Oh girl, if I made you my deviled eggs you would like them ha. Yay for chilly air. Thank you for your Milky Way comment….we should start a club.

Reply

I eat eggs a lot but I usually do 1 whole egg and 2 or 3 egg whites. Thoughts on that?
My workout was non-existant today thanks to my sick son. I did manage to get a nap in.
I heard it snowed a little in Utah today. My condolences.

Reply

I am not sure…..personally I am trying not to waste the yolks along with the fact I know they are good for me but I think that if you are getting at least one whole egg you are AWESOME:) Thank you for your condolences….it is freezing and it is making my heart hurt!

Reply

I need to start eating eggs.. I just can’t make myself like them no matter what I do!

My workout this morning was an hour masters swim practice (68 degrees outside, cold and windy) in an unheated pool. I definitely sprinted most of the workout to keep myself warm! I need to run this afternoon if my leg isn’t hurting (I pulled/strained my right abductor muscle on my inner thigh).

PS. How does Billy feel about his LSAT? I’m soooo glad to be done.

Reply

He feels AWESOME about it! How do YOU feel about it?
PS AWESOME workout but it made me cold thinking about it:) Prayinf for your leg!

Reply

I KNOW YOU CAN be patient and run every 3 days! I KNOW YOU CAN! I am a girl that loves her eggs, but feels guilty eating 2 yolks. How stupid can a woman pushing 40 be? Really. Although my favorite thing after a hard workout is to fry an egg with an additional 3 or 4 whites. It’s a sunnyside-up egg as large as the frying pan! And of course, peanut butter toast on the side.

Reply

THANK YOU!! NOOOOO….I think 2 yolks is perfectly good for you. Your bfast sounds incredible, I might have to have that for dinner now:)

Reply

I love the egg yolks, so I’m happy to gobble them up! I haven’t done my workout yet, but I plan on it in about 3 minutes. I’m going to go for a run on my new treadmill – wahoo! Also, I saw in a comment up there some where that you said your degree is in Health. Is it just Health or something along with that? Did you get a teaching credential on top of that? Just curious! :)

Reply

GIRL….How the heck are you? I hope you are enjoying your treadmill run!! Wahoo for HEALTH:) My degree is Secondary Health Education. I got the two for one…teaching and health:) Are you thinking about teaching?!?!

Reply

I’m GOOD! We need to go to the Pizza Factory some time… yes?!?! As for teaching, I’ve considered it, so I was curious how you went about it since it seems like there’s a few different routes to do it. Thanks!! :)

Reply

I kind of have to shake my head at things that people refuse to eat (like only eating egg whites…and a lot of times those are egg whites in liquid form in some kind of milk looking container….sick). I think that everything is healthiest in its natural form and I really hate when people completely cut out a food. I read some “diet” from a “doctor” on the Racheal Ray show that was talking about limiting sugar, which of course, is good, but one of his suggestions was to cut out fruit. What?! That is so not right. I think that a healthy and balanced diet with a lot of natural foods is the key. Okay, this might have gotten a little off the egg yolk topic haha but sometimes blogs I read about food habits drive me crazy. That is why I love yours, I have said it before but I love that you are real about your love for food and you are good at balancing everything :).

Reply

JAEME!! I ABSOLUTELY loved your comment. I could not agree more. It scares me when students say they are going to cut out a food and I have a talk with them about the importance of a balanced diet. They believe that cutting out carbs (I thought that fad was over) is healthy for them….AHHH NOOOOO!!! Thanks for your sweet words, I really appreciate it!

Reply

So glad that eggs are good for runners…I eat one practically every day! :D hahaha

Reply

I love eggs! They are so good. Which reminds me, I’m out of hard boiled eggs.

You are so right about that peanut dressing. I’m in love with it. Monica at Run Eat Repeat turned me on to it and now I can’t get enough.

Reply

I really think I could dip everything into that stuff and be happy!

Reply

LOVE eggs! My favorite way to eat them are omelettes or frittatas.
Workout today was weights, and I was jealous of all the runners I saw out enjoying the beautiful day. The jealousy lasted only a few seconds because I know that will be me tomorrow for a long run.

Reply

I need to try out making a frittata, I never have! I get runners jealousy all of the time!

Reply

They are going to make a Zoolander 2!!!! Coming out in like 2014 I think!

Reply

You absolutely just made my day….I had no idea!

Reply

I use to only eat 1 egg and the rest egg whites, but I’ve been switching and notice I feel SO much better throughout the day.

I’m allergic to antibiotics too and sometimes honeydew gives me these crazy bumps all over my face (kinda like white heads, but not… TMI?)

Is black rice the same as wild rice? I went to my local bulk/health food and they only had wild but it was black. Thanks!

Reply

HEY GIRL!!! Black rice is not the same as wild rice….Wild rice is actually a long-grain marsh grass, it is still incredibly good for you and really delicious. It tastes kind of nutty.

Reply

hmmmm, thank you, thank you! (that answer sounds very rice expert-y of you) ;)

I’ll be on the hunt!

Reply

Ahh, this is such an interesting one to me right now. I am exploring vegan and of course, eggs don’t fit the bill! Plus my kids love them. What to do? What to do?

Reply

TOUGH CALL!!! Are your kids wanting to go vegan too? I know plenty of vegans/vegetarians that still cook meat or eggs for their family….

Reply

I don’t want to sway you either way because everyone’s body is TOTALLY and COMPLETELY different. But, I’ve been, well was, vegan for about 6 years and can honestly say I can tell a difference in my body eating eggs. I don’t eat much other animal proteins besides a little bit of white meate chicken or turkey, but as I was on the fence about transitioning back to adding animal protein to my regular diet I ate eggs every now and then and could actually FEEL the difference. (I could just be mental :p )

After getting over a bit of the “label” and overall guilt of it, I accepted that my body just works better with a bit of lean animal protein. However, there are also so many people that don’t eat eggs or can’t and feel fantastic. I would recommend maybe testing to see how you feel (if health is more of your goal rather than the morality- sounds bad either way! hope you understand what I mean!) by doing one week without and one week with eggs in your diet? If you go the no eggs route, Chia seeds are pretty fantastic as a sub (17% daily calcium, 4 grams protein, 5 grams omega 3’s and a complete superfood in 1 oz. PLUS keeps you super hydrated). But, they don’t taste or look like eggs :/

Good luck in whatever you choose!!

Reply

I’m allergic to dairy. It can be tough, but I am used to it!

I have really high cholesterol but I still eat a few eggs a day! I love them. Omelets are a fave as are fried egg sandwiches…the runnier the better:)

Reply

NO DAIRY….my heart aches for you….my froyo pictures are just cruel! Agreed, runniness is a necessity!

Reply

Ah I LOVE eggs!!! I eat one everyday :-)

Reply

I like eggs, but I get tired of them after a while and have to take a couple months’ break. So weird. : ) Also, I just wanted to come here and tell you that I just ran 2 miles without stopping, which I have never done. Ever. Before. I’ve only done 1 at a time! ha.

Reply

Eggs are amazing!! I love a fried egg sandwich or an omelet with mushrooms, sun-dried tomatoes, cheese, and a big slice of toast with jam on the side! Yummo.

My workout today was an easy 2 mile run (recovering from a small injury) and 45 minutes of strength training and abs at the gym. Wahoo.

Reply

Fried egg sandwich = heaven! How have I forgotten about sun-dried tomatoes for so long, I need those in my life again. SMALL INURY…..AHHH!

Reply

YES. Apparently the tendon in my left foot is a tad injured, so I was advised to give it a rest for a week or so. URG. It’s tough, but I know that I’ll come back even stronger :)

Reply

I can’t eat egg yolks. My stomach doesn’t tolerate them for some reason. I feel nauseous the rest of the day if I eat just one. They’re fine if put into something, like cookies, but if I have eggs cooked whole (scrambled, fried, hard boiled, etc), it is too much.

I’m allergic to an anti-nausea drug. My eyes roll back in my head and I can’t see anything. No joke. Freakiest thing that ever happened to me.

Reply

That is really strange…hmmm!! AHHHH NO taking anti-nausea drugs ever again, that is SO scary!

Reply

Yes I’m an egg eater. I don’t buy egg whites because I like the yolk and would rather just eat the whole egg. Allergic to dairy (lactose intolerant) so eggs are good for me since I hate meat!

Reply

I’m not an egg eater. I will occasionally have them if they are cooked into things, but they’re not my cup of tea. somethhing about the texture throws me off!

Reply

Weird question … where did you find black rice? Will any grocery store (Walmart, Albertsons) have it? Thanks!!

Reply

HEY AMBER!!! We got it at Good Earth…a health foods store. We haven’t ever seen it at a normal grocery store but then again we haven’t searched very hard for it there.

Reply

I used to only eat eggwhites too, but I’ve definitely seen the error of my ways! I’m actually having an omelet for dinner tonight!

Way to stay strong and listen to your doc! It’ll make your run on Saturday that much sweeter!

Reply

I am an all egg eater! I try for at least one every day :D

Reply

Shall we start an egg lovers club:)

Reply

I love eggs! Our neighbors have chickens so we get free eggs all the time. I make “fried rice” with some brown rice, scramble in some eggs and broccoli. It’s been my go to meal for a while now, so tasty!

Reply

FREE FRESH EGGS….I am extremely jealous! That is awesome. Okay, I need to make fried rice, you are brilliant!

Reply

Really interesting read….I think I’m gonna need my man to whip me up a bfast taco tomorrow too! :)

Allergies…no but last month, after eating a delicious dinner of homemade fish tacos and going for a run with my dogs, I came home and started stretching out. Within a few minutes, my lips were tingly and I just felt weird all over. Matt told me my face looked a little puffy. I thought a hot shower would help…WRONG. I started itching like crazy and little red bumps popped up all over me. I took some Benadryl and was back to normal in 45 minutes (and totally passed out within 60 minutes). It’s never happened to me again but it was so weird!

Reply

Hope you got your bfast taco:) That is crazy…do you have any idea what it was from? Girl, now I am craving fish tacos bad!

Reply

No clue was caused it. I was so afraid it was the fish but I have eaten it since without issue. Fish tacos are amazing. I would be so sad if I could never have one again!

Reply

I am allergic to nickel, so I know when someone gives me cheap jewelry :P

I eat mostly the egg whites, since I’m still trying to lose some weight, but generally I still eat about 1 whole egg every day or every other day.

I’m not big on Milky Ways…but I do love me some Butterfingers, Reese’s, dark chocolate, etc…

Reply

I usually eat egg whites but now you’re changing my mind!! I had an amazing run today using my new Garmin, which I’m totally in love with (my BF knows and he’s ok with this). 6.78 miles total including four 1:30 AIs and 6 GPs (all part of my Snow Canyon Half Marathon training plan!).

Oh, and I’ll send you all the TJs stuff you want as I live near multiple stores!!

Reply

LUCKY….multiple stores. AHHHH yay for new Garmin, it is the best little thing in the world. GREAT run and I am so excited for your half!

Reply

Though I grew out of it, I used to be allergic to chocolate (I KNOW… right?). Now I’m allergic to almonds, cashews and coconuts. I’d almost rather still be allergic to chocolate instead.

Reply

What a sad childhood. NO COCONUT or almonds, that is really sad! I think I would just overcompensate now with chocolate.

Reply

I always eat whole eggs!! Sometimes I will mix whole eggs and egg whites so I get a bit of both. But sometimes I just like the whites, it all depends. I am allergic to a medicine ceclor but nothing else. I don’t even know what that is haha. My workout was bikram yoga!!

Reply

I want to try Bikram yoga so bad…you are my inspiration!

Reply

You know our chips as croutons makes me feel like bffs. that-a-girl with the cheetos :)

Egg yoke eater all the way, cause in my crazier eating days I could not eat eggs without feeling a little queasy regardless. Now, it is one of my favorite go to foods.

workout was 4 miles outside, we are having indian summer and it is awesome.

Side note, we had conferences last night and I thought of you as I came home to mugS of cereal. Delish!

Happy Friday tomorrow!

Reply

We are bffs:) Does it scare your husband how alike we are!?!? I am so happy that you are having an indian summer…I am praying for that. OH conferences…not my favorite part of the job….the mugS of cereal always makes me feel better!

Reply

I have a hard boiled egg everyday before I work out. Today I did 1 hour of plyometrics, 1.4 mile run with the kids, and 1400yd swim :)

Reply

AWESOME WORKOUT!! Holy cow! Good call on the pre-workout egg!

Reply

I <3 eggs. Just had 2 whole ones for breakfast on top of a waffle. Yum :) I never did the whole egg white thing b/c 1. I don't need to watch my cholesterol that carefully. 2. I really can't get on board with pouring egg whites out of a container, it just looks nasty!
Allergies? I could go on forever. Any pollen out there, anything with fur, apparently according to tests I'm allergic to peanuts and soy but I've never had a reaction and eat both all the time, and certain antibiotics…

Reply

Eggs and waffles are the best combo ever. SO MANY ALLERGIES, that makes me sad.

Reply

Love eggs! You are making me want to go home (still at work) and eat one.

Latest thing I like (which husband does not) is cracking one on a pizza (obviously, before I cook it).

Reply

Um, that sounds amazing…I will be copying you!

Reply

this was great info! i LOVE eggs but rarely eat them…hopefully this motivates me to get back to incorporating them into my diet. i NEED to go to the grocery. i have some serious chocolate lackage going on in my house right now…not okay! i am meeting shell tomorrow at yogurtland at 4pm if you want to come!

Reply

AHHH I might be able too but I have to check with Billy:) Um, please restock the chocolate asap and you should come over and I will make you a killer omelette!

Reply

I only eat scrambed eggs and omelettes … I’m actually craving an omelette now! Yum! :)

Reply

Yes, it makes me smile to see people eat whole eggs! They are great for your body, and like you said, super cheap. They definitely have the best cost/nutrition ratio!

I’m allergic to rats. Not such a bad thing to be allergic to!

Reply

I love how you said cost/nutrition ratio….I always think about that kind of stuff. I wouldn’t mind being allergic to rats, snakes, spiders, lions and alligators:)

Reply

Funny..yolk and allergy talk in the same post. My body can’t tolerate egg yolks..it is too acidic..so I am an egg white eater…which means vanilla ice cream OVER “French” vanilla. Did you know thats why “”French” vanilla is soo much creamier and a yellower color…it is made with egg yolks… so if you’re girl..that may just be your thing.

Reply

I didn’t know that…..that is interesting. I definitely love french vanilla, and now I know why:)

Reply

oh that treadmill will get your attention soon my friend! I just know it! in the mean time, load up on eggs.

LOVE hard boiled eggs lately. I’ve always liked the yolk too. Have you ever been to WinCo? I thought of you last time I was there because they have an awesome bulk section, and you can get all kinds of candy, grain, nut, noodle, flour, cereal, etc. by weight, it’s awesome!

So I’m super stressing today because I’ve been sick with a cough/cold all week, and I have my 1/2 on Saturday in Park City – where it is now going to be cold and high elevation…any suggestions for layering for a race when it’s cold but not freezing? I don’t have hardly any cold running clothes, and I hate being too hot – especially during a race!

Reply

OH NO!!! Girl, I am so sorry you have been sick….I have that same stupid cold. I love my under armour gear. My running tights, long sleeve and gloves are awesome. I have loved every product I have ever gotten from them. Good luck and I am praying you get better.
I have NEVER been to WinCo but now you have officially convinced me that it would be my idea of heaven!

Reply

I am allergic to bees-like deathly.
I eat the WHOLE egg. Preferably dippy with toast.
Speed walking with the stroller and the ergo!!

Reply

I just had egg beaters tonight for dinner! I was craving eggs, but realized I had boiled all of them, so the next best things was egg beaters…although the yolk of a real egg is sooo much better.
Workout today was 55 minutes of cardio followed by weights. Good call on holding off on the running, I have had the urge to start running, but I am still getting little twinges in my achilles so I want to take it slow with the elliptical/bike first.

Reply

Good job to YOU too girl, we are being smart:) Great workout…wish we could do weights together!

Reply

Allergic to basically the outdoors, cats (I have 3) and dust mites. I took allergy shots for almost 7 yrs and then you have to stop. But it definitely helped.

I eat all of the things you mentioned and yet I can only remember that Milky Way was on the list.

4 miles elliptical and some stretching. Runners knee flare up but will test it tomorrow and see what happens with my 10 mile long run this weekend.

OUTDOORS…NOOOOOO!!! Boo to your runners knee, I hope you are able to do your long run this weekend!

Reply

Good job of listening to your doctor, it will seriously pay off in the long run (pun intended hehehe).

I really liked this post :) I need to get a subscription to a running magazine so I can learn more things like this. I am so glad to have another reason to eat eggs. I love them!! I think they are my favorite protein source :)

Reply

A lot of their stuff is online at runnersworld.com and runningtimes.com
I do love getting my monthly running times in the mail though….definitely consider it:)

Reply

I think I want to get a MagHound subscription again, its like Netflix for magazines :) Running mags here I come!

I’m an egg whites only girl. I’ve tried to eat whole eggs, but time and again I just don’t like how they taste.

As for allergies, just cefaclor(antibiotic) and I do suffer from exercise-induced rhinitis. I get looks in the gym when I’m constantly sniffling from the runny nose. I swear folks, I’m not sick!

Reply

That is very interesting! Are you used to sniffling while working out (does it feel normal) or does it constantly bug you?

Reply

If I’m really doing well and am fully into my workout, I barely notice it. If it’s one of those workout where I just it to be over with already it bugs the hell out of me.

Reply

I’ve been loving eggs lately. I eat a couple every single day. I love them hard-boiled on a salad for lunch or just by themselves for a quick snack. Workout today was a bike ride to meet some friends at yoga. :)

Reply

I used to be an omelette animal but have had oatmeal almost everyday for 2 years now…perhaps it’s time to switch back! I really really like Milky Way though.

OH and speaking of saving money for NYC restaurants do you want 9 million recommendations from me?! Because I can do that for you. :)

Reply

YES YES YES YES YES….pretty please with sugar on top!

Reply

no allergies. yes to eggs. milky ways only sometimes after halloween. i tried to spin tonight but the class filled up before i got there, so I came home and decided to save my leg-energy for a run tomorrow morning.

Reply

Hope you had an amazing run this morning! That stinks about spin…I hate when that happens!

Reply

The only way I can eat an egg yolk is if my eggs are scrambled. Otherwise, no thank you! They are so nasty! Milky ways… don’t really care for them. Prefer snickers, for sure!

Allergic to some sort of metal and the sanitizer at work (combine the metal and the sanitizer and it results in a very beautiful rash that lasts for several months until you get the cajones to go to the doctor and still, if you don’t wear gloves when using the sanitizer, bad things happen).

And my workout was 65 minutes elliptical. I had my first full marathon coming up on Sunday, but I won’t be able to run it because my knee is acting up =(

Reply

GIRL….I AM SO SO SORRY ABOUT THE MARATHON!! Your blog says it hasn’t been updated since May…I need DETAILS!! Praying for you and I will send you my snickers if you send me your Milky Ways:)

Reply

Thank you so much =) I’ve been a pretty pathetic blogger lately, just don’t know what to write about! But I will for sure write an update about the knee/marathon.

And it’s a deal! Any Milky Ways that come my way are yours!

Reply

I adore Milky Ways – I am pretty sure they were invented by teeny tiny angels.
My workout was a four round crosstrain of push ups, lunges, db rows, squats, planks, and mountain climbers, and a 2 mile jog.
If you want to email me an address, I’d be happy to send you TJ goodies!

Reply

You are so right about Milky Ways, you made me smile!! Girl, I am STOKED about your iron girl!! I hope it is cooling of in AZ and I might have to take you up on the TJ goodies:)

Reply

Thanks Janae!! The weather was amazing in Arizona this weekend, well a little cool in the morning but perfect after 11 am.
Keep me posted on the TJs stash, happy to spread the TJs love! :)

I eat a piece of bacon and an egg every day for breakfast before I work out. I used to be so afraid of fat, until I realized how much energy it can give me! That single meal gives me more energy and keeps me more full than even a salad that could feed a family of 5. Sooooooo good!!

Reply

I like to scramble eggs with lots of veggies. I usually do a mix of whole eggs + whites. It’s good protein for me since I’m not a huuuge meat fan. I ran 6.61 miles this morning! :)

Reply

yay for eggs! I need to eat more…I have not been eating so well but I need to start. I ran 13 miles with Nicole today and we finished with our last mile as a sub 7 so I was happy with this!!

LOVE eggs- definitely my favortie source of protein! I gotta say, i do love the taste of egg whites solo! The only time I enjoy yolks is if they’re dippy!! Hardboiled yolks are no bueno in my books! Great Janae, now you got me craving eggs :D

I LOVE eggs. I usually boil a half dozen at the beginning of the week and use them in salads or just as a snack. Yum!

ok so I might be really weird…..but I actually don’tlike eggs! I like how they taste…but maybe it’s the texture….or maybe its cuz I was a biology major so I just can’t think of “eating an EGG” in a normal-person way….I dunno they just creep me out a little I guess haha.

That said, they ARE good for you! as long as you’re not downing six eggs a day, the whole cholesterol thing is not an issue…and you probably know that dietary fat is totally necessary :). so eat them eggs!

I’m allergic to pineapple! It sucks! Well, it doesn’t suck too much, cuz I eat it anyways and deal with the rash I get afterward hah.

PINEAPPLE……NOOOOO!! Ha, I would still eat it too and just deal with the side effects. I can definitely see where you are coming from with the biology background and eggs…..I probably wouldn’t be able to eat them either:)

I LOVE eggs :D and I have always preferred the yolks….but there was a period of time when I couldn’t eat them; I just felt weird about what they were. Now I don’t care. Yummy.

I’m not allergic to any foods, but I am allergic to something very strange – the adhesive on most tapes – no bandaids for this girl :P

I’m an egg lover as well! :-) Mostly egg whites – eat some almost everyday…
No food allergies here – thank goodness!
Have a great Friday!

I am an everything eater. I eat everything. I looooove eggs. I can’t do the boiled eggs, though. Well, unless it’s on a salad, but NOT by itself.

I am NOT a milky way eater. I haven’t eaten a candy bar since I was a kid and I got hooked on those toffee symphony bars. I would have one every day! That was bad. I gained a LOT of weight and felt horrible. I was 10.

My workout today was only 30 minutes of P90X Yoga this morning, and P90X Legs and Back tonight. I was going to hit the gym today, but decided to have lunch with my husband instead. He’s way more important.

I love love eggs ! In fact I just had a tortilla ( I’m Cuban so I love to prepare it because it tastes better the next day). I hear you when you stated you wish you could run all the time. I am following the run less run faster program ( just got started) and I am a little impatient and scared its slowing me down, but I know it will only improve my run in the end.
My workout today was my long run with my new garmin 610 ( so far loving it).
Not allergic to anything….for now haha!
