2 Ice Cream Parties and Running Girls

I woke up yesterday morning thinking of one and only one thing.  It involves something that is served in a cup that tastes IDENTICAL to your Grandma’s homemade oatmeal cookie mixed with the perfect ratio of creamy ice cream.  Yogurtland, you have done it again.

I only accidently called 4 people Oatmeal Cookie yesterday instead of their real name because it was on my mind all day long.

Oatmeal cookie with every topping they offer.  I was born with a sickness in which my taste buds stopped maturing at the ripe old age of 2.

You know you are out for froyo with a bunch of runners when they are all sipping on gatorade and there are packs of shot blocks on the table.

5 of the below seven girlies are running the ST. GEORGE MARATHON on Saturday.  Am I jealous?  Yep, but I will just live vicariously through their PR blog posts!  They are going to ROCK IT!!!

Rachelle, Julia, Ash, Amy, Terra and Amylee!

All of that talking worked up my appetitite for dinner.  It was on the go because we had to be somewhere quickly.

You know you need to be a better wife and actually grocery shop when you have to use packets of mayonnaise from Subway to make your tuna salad sandwiches.

I will spare you the pictures of our dinner that resembled cat food surrounded by whole wheat bread.

Where did we have to get to in such a rush?

Ice cream recipe HERE.   It was incredible.  You have to try it, it is a mimic recipe to Ben and Jerry’s Sweet Cream.

Office fans-  Even though Michael is no longer on The Office, do you still love it?

-I was worried that it would tank without him but I think it is still REALLY hilarious and I will continue to watch each episode 5 times each week until the next new one aires.

What are you loving most about your FRIDAY?

-Early out day/jeans day and a Costco trip.

What are some of your favorite things your grandma makes/made?

-Oatmeal cookies (I need to get the recipe) and Manicotti.

Hahah u remind me of me! I always have to have a taster even though I know EXACTLY what it tastes like and that I will be ordering it regardless ha ha ha! I kinda wanna eat this post!

Best thing about Friday? Being on holiday in colorado, hiring bikes in boulder, shopping at wholefoods and lululemon, going hiking and staying in a yurt in the mountains! :-D xyx

I fully blame your blog for my wallet losing weight and the froyo place near my house getting richer off my family. …haha oatmeal cookie froyo?!? that has to be the coolest thing EVER.

And the may packets….no its totally ok, I save those duck sauce packets from chinese restaurants and use them in sautees later :)

Reply

BAHAHAHA I am proud that I have inspired you to go to froyo more:) Good to know I am not the only one that saves packets from restaurants!

Reply

I am excited for the weekend to start and my sweaty weights workout later tonight.

My Grandma made the best everything so its way to hard to choose.

Reply

I am beyond incredibly jealous that you have oatmeal cookie froyo!! I’ve never seen that flavor before..!! Oh and your homemade icecream looks SO tasty.

YAY for a costco day..I pretty much eat lunch there every available saturday..and by lunch, I mean FREE samples..LOAD UP! :) Sometimes the samples are so good that I’ll wait until the next person working the table switches out and my dad and I go up two or three times! Is that bad?

Reply

Hmmmm maybe we should wait for Saturday, the samples are outrageous! It is not bad. If it is don’t tell me because I do the same thing.

Reply

I am SO getting some yogurt today! Thank you for that craving, Janae…:-)

Reply

You better girl….you deserve it!

Reply

wahoo for Oatmeal Cookie. SO SO SO SO SO yummy. I am slightly jealous that you got to have ANOTHER ice cream party after ours. I only had boring chicken and brown rice for dinner. boo.

had a great time chatting with you and the 2 new girls, Amy N & Terra. Can’t wait to see how everyone does at St. George. :)

Reply

BORING….you should have come over for tuna sandwiches:) LOVE YOU and I better get a text/call sometime on Saturday!

Reply

My favorite thing about Friday is that I’m now going to Yogurtland tonight! They just opened a new one about a mile from our house, score. And I am still watching the Office but I think James Spader is totally creepy.

Hands down best thing my grandma made was a layered pea salad with peas, lettuce, red onions, bacon, sour cream and topped with shredded cheddar. So yummy!

Reply

A MILE AWAY…LUCKY!! Have so much fun and I agree, James Spader creeps me out!

Reply

I must admit I am jealous that you have such great frozen yogurt places near you. We have one and while it is OK – it definitely does not have the variety that the places you go to do. Every time I see you post photos of your frozen yogurt it reminds me of my honeymoon in Charleston, SC where we would get frozen yogurt practically every night of our honeymoon.

Reply

Best honeymoon ever. I think that is all I need in a vacation, good food/ice cream….and the beach:)

Reply

I am jealous of Yogurtland ;)
I love that today is jeans day too! And that I am meeting with the two of my friends and their babies for lunch :) Have to get my snuggling time in!
My grandma made the best sugar cookies!

Reply

Have so much fun at lunch…that is the best! Enjoy jeans day too and why does it make me so happy, I mean it is just jeans right!?!

Reply

My favorite thing my grandmother made was her pancakes! So delicious -I crave them all the time. Have a happy Friday, Janae! Eat some samples at Costco for me. :) xoxo

Reply

I will gorgeous girl!! I should probably get your gma’s pancake recipe!

Reply

I want to run St. George so bad!! It looks beautiful!!
AND. I didn’t know the Office started last night! Where have I been!? I love that show so much!
I loving that it actually feels like fall today! Finally!!!

Reply

I will tell you one thing that is NOT a favorite that my grandma makes…pork chops with apples…blech!

I love my grandma to death, but the poor woman is not a very good cook. However, her “specialty” dish was when we were little…it was “apples and biscuits”. You heat up apples in the microwave with sugar and cinnamon, and bake biscuits in the oven. Then you open the biscuits, put butter on them to melt, and top them with the apples. Then you top the apples with graham cracker crumbs and more cinnamon and sugar. SUPER delicious. We loved them!!

Reply

That sounds like something I could actually make wahoo!! That sounds delicious but the apples and pork chops…not so much:)

Reply

They are so simple to make. If you ever make apples and biscuits you will have to let me know how you like them!

Reply

2 ice cream parties in one day? jealous! i’ve had that oatmeal cookie and it is to die for. literally.

Reply

It really is the best flavor ever. I think I need to go again today.

Reply

also a jeans day for this girl… but I have to work tomorrow… BOO :(

I am obsessed with my grandmother’s Homemade Fude, Blueberry Cheesecake, and ummm all things dessert. Can’t say no to sweet and sugary…

Reply

WORK TOMORROW…noooo! I understand, not fun! What is FUDE?

Reply

We love The Office at our house. I also was worried the show wouldn’t be as good without Michael but so far the first two episodes this season have been hilarious. I accidently deleted the season premiere right after watching out of habit and almost cried. Adam now holds the remote. Ha! Adam passed his last licensing exam so this is his last full day home. We will spend the day at the Texas State Fair eating yummy fair food and having fun with the kids. It will involve a lot of walking, but hopefully that will help send me into labor. Tonight they are having another fair at our church where our kids go to preschool. So it will be a fun day! I absolutely love my Gram’s Boston Cream Pie.

Reply

YOU DELETED IT…..watch it on Hulu:) Tell Adam CONGRATS, that is so so awesome. I hope you have an amazing time at the state fair and please try something fried for me okay:) LABOR…AHHHHH!!!!

Reply

oatmeal raisin ?@! yum!! I love you sweater and I want to say good luck to the lovely ladies running this weekend!!!!!

Reply

Thanks Danielle!!

Reply

That ice cream recipe looks deliccccious…but I don’t have patience to wait for hours for it to be ready!! I’d have to start it in the morning when I’m not craving ice cream as much and then have it ready by lunchtime :)

Reply

Ha, I don’t either. Luckily it was pretty much done by the time we got there. Good call on making it in the morning.

1. I LOVE the Office. Andy is my favorite character. I have his coffee mug from Kelly’s America’s Got Talent party. It always makes my day when I use it. Last night’s episode had me laughing SO hard! I loved the tattoo!

2. I wish I had an awesome fro-yo place by my house. I went to an awesome one in Arizona but can’t find one to compare in IL. Sad.

3. I LOVE your blog. I may have read through most of the pages. Your training is super inspiring! I’m running the Chicago Marathon Oct 9 and my goal is a sub-4. You’ve definitely given me motivation! I’ve looked back at all the hard training I’ve put in and I know I can do it!

Reply

YOU HAVE THAT MUG? I want one so bad. Thank you so much for your sweet words and girl….YOU ARE GOING TO ROCK CHICAGO!!! Will you please let me know how you do, I want details! You have done the training, so now it is time to show off what you have worked so hard for!

Reply

That ice cream/cookie mix looks WONDERFUL. nom nom.

Reply

Your eats always make me want to eat the computer screen. Seriously. My grandmother is straight from Italy so she makes the BEST pasta (makes her own tomato sauce) and also makes amazing rice balls!! Have you ever tried a rice ball? You would die. Think ball of rice stuffed with cheese and tomato sauce, rolled in Italian flavoured breadcrumbs and then DEEP FRIED. Good thing we only make them like once a year or there would be bad news for my pants.

Reply

So I have been watching The Office since season 1 and currently have all their seasons on DVD. I too was worried but I think we will all just have to get used to the office without Michael. We once had an Office party where we all dressed as office supplies; I came as “World’s Best Boss” mug. As for Friday, today we are having a pizza party and yes it’s jeans day too! OH and I showed my coworker your smores recipe and he totally made it today for our pizza party!

Reply

Um, Where was my invitation to your Office party? Jk….that sounds like so much fun!! AHHH pizza and smores bars….let me know how you like them!

Reply

OooO I love your top, where from??

Reply

Ok, so I have been jealous of Yogurtland since I read about it on your site. HOWEVER, I have found a place near me called Cups and I think it is similar. I will check it out…

Office: I have only watched the season premier so far (other eps are on DVR) and to be honest, I thought it was just OK. I think I just need to give it some time.

Best thing about Friday: We are heading out to Great Adventure tonight!(It’s a Six Flags Theme Park) And it is a Season Pass holder only night. Woo-hoo! I am counting the hours…

Reply

I don’t love it anymore. I still love Dwight though, so I will still watch.
I am super excited about trying a BodyCombat class.
Tomatoes and Dumplings. I love them.

Reply

You must try these!

http://www.marthastewart.com/336518/heart-sandwich-cookies

I just replaced regular flour with whole wheat flour, used 1/2 cup light butter, and for the other 1/4 cup of butter, I used applesauce. Delicious! Oh and instead of hazelnut spread, I used PB&Co While Chocolate Wonderful! :)

Reply

You are slowly convincing me to fly over to Utah so I can experience yogurtland finally, omaiga!

I still love the Office without Steve Carrell, i’m loving the direction they are going already!

I’m a little stressed today, but looking forward to making eggplant rollatini with the sis later and anticipating my RACE THIS WEEKEND!!

my grandma makes the best pancakes ever :)

Reply

I haven’t watched the office since Michael left…am I missing out?

I’m loving that I’m home after my whirlwind trip to PA and I get to lounge and do nothing tonight!

Reply

So fun to see you and the girls yesterday- I wish I could have stayed for longer! I’m headed to my Moms for a bottling peaches festival and I’m going to see a bunch of High School kids rock some Shakespeaere at Davis High. Good times indeed.

For some reason the Office lost its magic for me a couple of seasons ago. I am now hopelessly addicted to Modern Family. PHIL AND CAM ARE THE BEST. :) I could go for some of that ice cream though.

Reply

Roadtripping to see one of my friends for a girls weekend!!!!

My grandma made these twice baked potatoes to die for. It must have been the stove because threre really is nothing to them, and none of us can make them taste as good.

Reply

Im an office fan… I still like it and think its funny… but i liked it better with Michael :)

Reply

Is that seriously a flavor? I need to try that ASAP! I don’t even have a yougurtland close by me :( How depressing. I love the office but I never keep up with it! I usually just watch re-runs. The best part about my Friday is I’m off of school. Plus it’s the weekend! My grandma was the best cook! She would make anything really and it was all amazing. Nothing in particular that I loved the most.

Reply

Gotta love ice cream!
My grandmother makes the best pie ever!

It was super awesome to meet you yesterday! Thank you so much!

I may have been slightly intimidated by your gorgeousness though….

That oatmeal froyo is the BEST FLAVOR EVERRRR! I just went there the other day and discovered it and couldn’t believe how delicious it was…If ever I am to overdose on something, I believe that would be it–so happy to see it is receiving some love in Utah :)

Reply

Your post made me realize that it’s been too long since I had a froyo run.

My grandmother made these amazing doughy donut looking things that weren’t donuts. Sounds crazy, but they were a Portuguese pastry and I grew up on them.

I’m loving Friday today because I’m working from home (in my loungy pants) and get to quit early to go to a health expo to pick up my first ever race packet. Yeah for Friday!

Reply

It was SO SO good to see you yesterday! You are just gorgeous inside and out. Have a great weekend and enjoy your 12 mile run. :)

I can’t even begin to describe how jealous I am of this blogger meet-up… not only did it involve one of my favorite places in the world… Provo, but also one of my favorite foods, frozen yogurt, and lots of my favorite people!!!

I hope all those girls kick some serious trash in the St George marathon tomorrow!!!

Reply

My grandma always jokes that she’s a bad grandma because she asks ME to make cookies for HER. :-) She made good macaroni and cheese though!

Reply

UM…that first picture is quite disturbing!!! Who gave you a thimble size cone?!?! Don’t they KNOW you?! They should allllll know to automatically make a cone the size of your head….with an extra bowl of toppings to dunk said life size cone after every, single, bite…seriously folks!!!!

Reply

Bahahahaha that was a sample cup!!!! I had about ten of those before the real deal ha:)

Reply

I’m looking forward to the high school homecoming game tonight. It’s Texas HIgh School Football on steroids so you can only imagine.
My grandma made the best homemade hot cocoa. It was amazing.
I love the Office. I almost had a meltdown last night because my DVR only recorded the first 3 minutes of the show. Stupid thunderstorm. Thank goodness for the internet.

Reply

I LOVE YOU. being reunited yesterday felt so good. ahhhhh!

Reply

I want to visit the west coast to [EAT AT YOGURTLAND] see all of my friends that moved after graduation! It looks so scrumptious!

Reply

P.S. What I’m totes loving today: I was listening to the T-Swift radio station on Pandora and one of my students asked if it was her… I said yes… And he jumped with joy and said that he loves her too! I teach 7th grade autism, let me just tell you, it was absolutely precious!

Reply

I heart Yogurtland. I’m going tonight….for the second day in a row. :) Have you tried mixing the Kona Coffee and the French Vanillia together? It’s life changing!

Reply

Oh, goodness, there go the fro-yo cravings!!! Darnit!

The weather is glorious for the last day of Sept and I am leaving work early to watch my alma mater No. 1 Stanford w.soccer face WSU. I know zero about soccer except to yell “GOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAL!”, but if the No 1 team is on campus, I have to see them, right?

Reply

Sad story: Grandma smoked like a chimney, even when she cooked, so most things had a ode de smoke flavor. Christmas isn’t the same without smokey ham salad since Grandma passed away.

Reply

ya, runners are the best people…we feel totally confident walking around toting a waterbottle, sporting short shorts no matter where we go and can tell u our fav kind of bar without batting an eye. :)

Reply

Oatmeal Cookie Froyo from Yogurt Land is THE BEST. I had some tonight, of course :)

Is Billy taking his LSAT tomorrow? If so, tell him good luck! Can’t wait to finally be doneeee!

Reply

My grandma used to make the best double chocolate chip cookies. She would never tell anyone (outside of the family) her recipe. Well she passed away a few months ago and on the back of her funeral program was her recipe!! She totally planned it out with her friend (prior to her passing away) who knew to include the recipe when it was time to make the program. So adorable. Love my sweet grandma!

Reply

I was worried about The Office without Michael, but it’s still pretty good, Andy is doing a great job! Plus I love Jim and Pam so I think they would keep me watching anyways.

Reply

I found a frozen yogurt shop in Paris today! Unforunately couldn’t try it as I was already holding a real ice-cream cone in my hand! But I’ll go back…
