Running socks and gummy bears in my cereal

Don’t even ask.  We were in a weird mood.  We had a pre-dinner meal of cereal and it went from throwing gummy bears into each other’s bowls to trying to steal the mini wheat with the most frosting from the other person’s bowl.

I have threatened her that I will be going through her next box of frosted mini-wheats and cutting off the front part with the frosting and leaving her a box full of the boring side of mini-wheats.

My favorite fall treat has just arrived.  Not only does this mean that you are going to see peaches all over my blog but I will be at my parents house even more because they always have a drawer in the fridge full of fresh peaches from the local fruit stands.

My favorite combo is peaches and milk.  Is that just a Janae thing or is that normal outside of my little bubble.  Bonus points occur when cereal is involved.

IMG 9099

For some reason my neice no longer likes to look at the camera for pictures and instead stares at Billy and I thinking about how crazy we are.

For dinner we had turkey, mashed potatoes and peas but the highlight had to be the bisquick biscuits with jam that my mom canned.  The inventor of jam was brilliant, add jam to any carb and you have an instant pie-like deliciousness.

My brother is still in town from Arizona until tomorrow and his little boy got into my laundry and carried my running socks all around the house…..he obviously does not know where those socks have been.  Don’t worry, they were clean (as clean as they get) when he got a hold of them.

I always tell him that he should thank me for his life because I am the one that set up his mom and dad:)

IMG 9125

Congratulations Mother!  You have mastered the perfect brownie (15 minutes undercooked so it is incredibly fudgelike) oh yeah and congrats Mom and Dad on YOUR 40TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY!!!

What is your FAVORITE thing to eat peaches…..cobbler, ice cream, smoothies, milk, yogurt, fruit salad?

-I don’t think there is anything better than a perfectly ripe peach with vanilla ice cream but milk does come in a close second.

Fudgelike or cakelike brownies?

Do you put jam or butter on your biscuits?

-I am a jam girl through and through.

And random question of the day:  Do you like the workout tops with a shelf bra put into them?

-I have only found two that I like with the built in bra…..usually they just fit me super awkward.  Any good recommendations?

Plain, whole peaches. Ice cream would be ok as well.
I have never met a brownie I didn’t like. Whatever way you make them, I will eat them.
Biscuits I dip in ranch dressing. But I will dip just about any food in ranch dressing.
Can’t help you on the workout tops. Just plain old t-shirts around here. Once in a while, a dry fit shirt.
How is your brother feeling about his Tri?

Ranch dressing….okay that is an AWESOME idea!!! He is feeling great….CRAZY sore and his legs cramped up really bad at the end but five minutes later he was talking about the ironman he wants to start training for….I think he had fun:)

Reply

Shelf bras rarely fit me properly either! Always too loose or too tight in all the wrong spots!

I love fudgey undone brownies! mmm. With powdered sugar on top.

Reply

Powdered sugar on top…..you are a genius!! I am ashamed I haven’t thought of that yet ha! Thanks LAURA!

Reply

The other night I went to a restaurant and ordered a blackberry, peach, mango cobbler..it was SO delicious! But let’s get real, my actual favorite peach dessert is just warmed peaches with vanilla ice cream! YUMM.

Oh, and your mom is right on with 15 minute, undercooked brownies! That’s the KEY to ooey, gooey brownies :)

Reply

Okay, that cobbler you had the other night is literally making me drool right now at 8:16 in the morning. I will now be googling a recipe for a blackberry, peach and mango cobbler. THANKS ANNA!

Reply

FUDGEY brownies all the way!! It has to be SERIOUSLY undercooked, and then it is the best! :D

And your niece is SO CUTE!! Is it weird and creepy that I want to steal her hair? Or just her ;)

Reply

OMG my hubby is a peach a holic… His newest thing is my baked peaches recipe! Um…I like the shelf bra workout tops…I have 3 lulu ones that fit perfectly (esp because Im a little light on top)! Your niece is seriously adorable…she should be modeling….every picture of her is so stinkin cute!

I really love peaches in yogurt- but ice cream sounds really yummy! As far as those amazing looking brownies- I’m with you, fudgy is best! Butter over Jam for sure- but jam is best when it’s homemade I’ll give you that!
I do like the workout shirts with a shelf bra when I can find ones that fit right- I have a long torso and small boobs, so it can be tough. Lately I’ve been wearing target brand long and lean tank tops with a sports bra- which works well for yoga and running :)

Reply

I KNOW….I feel like most of the workout tops with shelf bras are super short! I need to look into the target brand! Those sounds PERFECT!! Thanks!!

Reply

If the peaches are ripe and delish ( like they usually are) I LOVE them on ANYTHING! I am a brownie girl all the way too, either cake like or fugdelike I will eat them! I definetly put jam on biscuits :)

Reply

Your niece is adorable with those eyes! I love peaches with yog/vanilla ice cream so can definitely see it also having milk potential!

Reply

I LOVE peach jam or preserves! It is my absolute favorite! And brownies definitely need to be fudge-like–are there really any other kind?!

I feel like all my workout shirts have a shelf bra, but I still wear another bra underneath. Not that I have a big chest or anything; I just don’t feel like that little stretch band is enough ;)

Reply

Okay…..I totally wear a sports bra under my shelf bras too and always wonder if some people don’t ya know? I can’t imagine trying to workout with just that little band of elastic for support ha!

Reply

I have never tried a top with a built in bra…

That said I don’t run with a top on!!!

Reply

BAHAHAHAHA that made my day!

Happy anniversary to your parents! 40 years! How awesome!

I like peaches on vanilla ice cream, but they’re pretty great on cereal… Or in cobblers with vanilla ice cream… Mmmm…

And I would seriously die if someone cut all the white happiness off the front of my mini wheats. Then they’d just be shredded wheat, which sounds like something folks only ate during the great depression.

Reply

It is definitely normal to love peaches with milk! Putting it in my cereal is my favorite.
Fudgelike brownies ALL the way.
I haven’t had biscuts in years but I guess it depends what I’m eating them with! I like both.
I am picky with my workout tops. I usually wear my own bra regardless because I feel weird not wearing one.

Reply

Wanna have a peaches/milk/cereal party with me? For dessert we can have fudge like brownies!!

Reply

My grandmother always makes an AMAZING peach pie with whipped cream and greatness packed in :D so that’s my favourite. but otherwise just give me a peach and a knife…..I like to cut slices out to eat the MAXIMUM amount of peach possible :)

I had to stop eating jam due to weight gain – there are so many other things I’d rather waste calories on….like the above – peach pie!!!

I don’t like shelf bra shirt b/c I am lacking in the “top shelf” department and thus, they never fit me properly, though I also have a few :)

PS: I’m back and I can’t wait to blog a week straight about my cottage adventures! Also can’t wait to creep you for the posts I missed :P lol

SO SO HAPPY YOU ARE BACK!! Can’t wait to read all about your adventures!

yayy congrats to your parents 40 years is simply AMAZING!

Reply

Congrats to your parents :) 40 years is awesome!

I love peaches raw, actually. Especially the white peaches. SO GOOD

I’ve never bought a workout top with a built-in bra, but I’m sure I’d be ok with my small boobs!

Reply

Janae, you and your family are absolutely beautiful!

I love peaches as-is, super fudgy brownies, butter AND jam on biscuits (<–that totally made me think of the Geico commercial, anyone else?), and I'm not a huge fan of workout tops with built in bras because I always wear another one anyways.

Have a great day, girl! :)

Reply

I love peaches! I eat them in spinach salads with goat cheese.
I made really fudgy brownies this weekend too! I used sugarfree brownie mix hershey’s milk choc chips, and a black beans! Seriously they were the best fudgy brownies ever! and full of protein ;-)

Wow! Congrats to your parents, so sweet!

Reply

Woooooooah. Hold up. BLACK BEANS IN YOUR BROWNIES?! Explain please. Recipe?

Reply

I love anything peaches!! Peach cobbler and peach yogurt are two of my top faves, but a plain ol’ peach is great too!

DEFINITELY fudge-like brownies!! I love half baked cookies & brownies…the “dough-ier” the better.

I’m totally a jam girl too. Homemade jam is amazing.

Reply

I was a little worried that your title meant running socks in your cereal – yuck! :)

I hate running tops with bras built in – they never fit right. They are either too short (the tops), not tight enough on the top (I’m not that busy but I sure don’t need to be flopping all over), or they are super low cut which is kind of awkward. I always opt for a sports bra and tanktop or dri-fit shirt… can’t be swayed away. Please share if you happen to find an amazing top tho!

I love peach cobbler… mmm… I’m getting hungry just thinking about it :)

Love your blog – a friend recommended it to me since I’m training for my first half-marathon and becoming rather jogging obsessed :)

Reply

HI TIFFANY!!! You made my day, I am so so excited for your first half-marathon!! Which one are you doing? What plan are you following…I need DETAILS:) Good to know I am not alone in the hate of running tops with bras built in! Maybe I should try and design one that people actually like ha!! Go make some peach cobbler and add ice cream….ya know, to carb load for your next long run!

Reply

Hi Janae – you’re killing me with the cobbler and ice cream images, for real. I think I’m going to have to hit the fro-yo place on the way home from work tonight :)

My husband and I are training for the Amish Country half-marathon in Lancaster County, PA on Nov. 5th. Starting a bit late – we are training 1 week, taking 1 week off to go to Alaska on vacation, and then will have 8 weeks to continue training… but I think we’ll make it. We found a 9 week schedule from runnersworld.com that seems to be working well – last week was a practice week and I thought I was going to die running 4-5 miles at a time but today’s 4 mile run was WAY better so I’m feeling more confident about it. I just have to remember – stay positive, keep trying, eat lots of fro-yo, and all will be well – things I’ve learned from your blog so far haha ;-)

Reply

YES, you must go get fro-yo on your lunch break or on your way home!! Okay, that is SO awesome that you and the husband are training TOGETHER!!! I am SO happy you found a great plan and WAY TO GO on your 4 miler today…you are incredible!!! Ha, I am so happy I have taught the most important lesson of consuming large amounts of fro-yo to help you get through hard runs:) Swedish fish help too!
I hope you have an amazing time in Alaska….I am only really jealous of you:)

Reply

Your comment caught my eye. I’m from Lancaster County. I grew up in Lititz but now live outside Philly. I didn’t even know they had a 1/2 marathon in Lancaster. That one must be very different from the Philly 1/2. Good Luck.

Reply

This one has been hard to find information about – as their actual website that everyone references does not work. However, here is a link with the most information I’ve been able to find. http://www.usrahalf.com/Events/amish.htm

The Philly Half looked interesting but we don’t run on Sundays so that has limited our race choices – hopefully the Lancaster County one will be fun tho. They had about 1000 participants last year so at least I know it really does exist hehe.

Reply

Thanks for the link! Looks like it should be a beauitful race.

Reply

I have never ever found a shelf bra that fit me right or is supportive enough or just doesn’t plain feel see through. I’m looking forward to the comments on that one. That picture of your neice and you is absolutely precious BTW :D

I love peaches and cottage cheese, fudgey brownies all the way (usually warm and topped with ice cream) and biscuits get butter AND jam. :D

Happy Anniversary to your parents!

Reply

PEACHES AND CC…..girl you are brilliant, I can’t wait to try that!!! Thanks so much Sylvia!

Reply

I love peach cobbler! I like to make my own “easy” version of peach cobbler, which is where I take diced canned peaches, throw em’ in a fancy glass, top with quick oats, mix and microwave for 1 minute. Instant cobbler – healthy and yummy!

I prefer cakelike brownies..i think. but then, if you put fudge-like brownies in front of me, I’d probably gobble them down.

I put jam on my biscuits but probably would put butter on them too if it was available :-)

Reply

AHHHH I love your instant cobbler idea…….after school snack today wahoo!!!

Reply

I love peaches in pretty much any form!!! My favorite quick snack is to peel and chop a peach, drizzle honey and cinnamon on top, and microwave it for like 30 seconds!! Yum! :D

Reply

AHHHH THANK YOU GEN for the snack idea……that sounds AMAZING!!! Cinnamon + honey + peach = pure happiness!

Reply

I love peaches as well! Can’t wait until apples are in season too.
The kiddies are so cute!!!

Reply

I will never make the hard decision between butter and jam :) And, I’ll never wear a tank top with a built in shelf because I feel like that’s exactly what it turns my entire top half into.

Reply

I am truly sorry to ask such an awful question…..what was I thinking….BUTTER AND JAM:) Good call on the shelf bra ha, I am the same way!

Reply

Peach Cobbler = heaven!!

any kind of brownie is ok with me, but i’m gonna go with fudgelike.

i have NEVER tried jam on my biscuits but i am rather intrigued..I think this might be something i need to try, lol.

i’m not a fan of the shirts with built in bras…i’m fairly small chested now, but they always fit me awkwardly and i never quite feel like i’m held in place..hahaha, oh well.

Reply

Okay, your homework is to hunt down some homemade jam and smother a biscuit in it. Please report back to me about it by tomorrow:) Good to know I am not alone in the awkward built in bra situation.

Reply

Check out my honey-glazed peaches recipe from a couple of weeks ago… I cannot stop eatting them… slice or half.. they are amazing.

Reply

Done and done…..I am so excited for your honey-glazed recipe!! THANKS!!!

Reply

I love raw brownies… I mean, fudgey.

My favoooorite way to eat peaches is sliced with cottage cheese/vanilla yogurt with cinnamon sprinkled on top! So good… Or peach crumble with ice cream. Either way. Hahah.

Pillsbury Cinnamon Rolls > Biscuits.

Athletic tops fit me SO awkward too. I feel like it’s my lack of a chest. I just feel so bare up there that I end up layering it with another sports bra which defeats the purpose of buying “shelf tanks”. I just think when I sweat (boob sweat, of course) my top may become a little too see-through for my liking, so I’m scared of athletic tops without patterns/designs. haha

Reply

RAW BROWNIES…..YES!!! Cinnamon…you are brilliant!! Okay, how did I not think about the Pillsbury Cinnamon Rolls, on my lunch break I will have to go to the store to buy those:) Ha…I totally agree, what is the purpose of them if you have to wear a bra underneath anyways!

Reply

I found out the bras at Target with the thin straps (16.99) are actually the best layer bras! They are for moderate support so they aren’t SUPER thick and they are the most comfortable (i think, for the money) underneath other tops!

Reply

Your little niece is about the cutest little thing I’ve ever seen! That hair! Adorable!

I have never eaten anything peach that I did not adore(we made peach pizzas this weekend-whole wheat pizza crust topped with peach slices, crunchy demera sugar, bake and drizzled with TJs salted caramel sauce…to die for!) If peaches are super ripe and juicy I love them just sliced and eaten raw. Costco has had the best peaches this season! I usually let them sit on the counter for a few days to really ripen up…Mmmmm!

Biscuits must be eaten with butter and a drizzle of honey and/or jam!

Sadly, ladies are too large to do without a proper sports bra. Boo! I would love just to be able to just wear a top with a built in shelf bra.

Reply

OH MY GOODNESS…..Lisa, I am absolutely drooling over your peach pizza. I am just going to go ahead and invite myself over for the next time you make it….when is good for you:) I have NEVER tried Costco peaches…now I will!!! Good call on the honey with biscuits! I know what you mean….there is no way a little shelf bra would handle these ha!

Reply

You are welcome in advance for the tip on honey with butter on a biscuit. LOL! A gazillion southern people can’t be wrong.

Seriously, I will slap pretty much anything on a pizza crust and be in love with it. Well, maybe not gummy candy but I’d be a liar if I said I wouldn’t try it if somebody put it in front of me.

Reply

We just picked up peaches at the farmer’s market on Saturday! I have yet to try one but my hubby called me while he was on his way to work this morning and said it was amazing! :)

I think The Tapas Tree Group seriously need to talk to their PR conpamy if they have one. Peaches and milk (in cereal) is an amazing combo! Nectarines also work ;)
Brownies have no business being anything BUT fudge like in my opinon!

Reply

Those pictures of your niece are adorable! Her curls are so sweet.

Reply

Mmm I love peaches!!! They are so good. I prefer exercise tops without the bra in it because they aren’t very comfy and don’t provide much support. Not that I need lots but still, I prefer a regular sports bra!!!

Reply

I like dipping peaches in yogurt.

Reply

I eat biscuits with butter + jam or honey. Or sometimes butter, jam, AND honey. MMM!

I hate shelf bras because they’re always too loose so I have to wear a sports bra anyway and then its just too many layers on the boobs.

Happy 40th anniversary to your parents!!!

I did it! I ran Hood to Coast this weekend!!! I would love it if you checked out my blog and pictures today!! It will totally make you want to do this 200 miles relay race next year!!!!

PS Happy Anniversary to your parents!! That is such a long time!!

I am loving peaches right now too!! Apparently, we have a peach tree in our back yard!! We have been living here for 2 years, 3 summers and this is the first year we have had fruit on the tree. They were tiny little guys, but juicy and sweet sweet sweet! I love them in ice cream, yogurt, plain, anyway I can get them. Sadly, between myself and the squirrels there are no more peaches. Until next year!

I baked brownies yesterday, and they came out more cake like, but I like them anyway you can make them! I canned some strawberry jam this year, so loving that on toast and biscuits! YUMMY!

I haven’t had much luck with built-in bra tops. I do mostly high-impact stuff, running, kickboxing, and can’t handle any bouncing! I usually wear a sports bra under tops even if they have a built in bra. Just don’t seem to support me enough. Have a great Monday!!!

Reply

Favorite food:
Tortilla chips with plain sour cream. I could get into a lot of trouble with this and try to not buy it very frequently.
Brownies:
Fudge like of course, but if you throw in some reese’s pb cups into said brownie batter your just doubled your delight.
Bras:
I have to wear two very supportive sports bras at a time so those little dinky built in shelf bras just don’t cut it for anything other than sleeping. And that is even questionable.

Reply

Your neice is seriously so freaking adorable. It looks like you had such a fun day with your family. Love it! And yes I love peaches on anything. :) Yummo!

Reply

Happy Anniversary to your parents! That is defintely a reason to celebrate:)

I love peach cobbler with a little scoop of vanilla ice cream. I like both kinds of brownies, so I guess it depends on what mood I’m in. I put butter on my biscuits, but most of the time I prefer nutella or a combo of peanut butter and syrup warmed up. As far as workout tops go, I go back and forth. Sometimes I prefer they don’t have them but that extra added support is nice too.

Reply

The Brooklyn Ice Cream factory makes the most AMAZING peach ice cream that is somewhere between heavenly and sinful. I also like it in oatmeal.
Biscuits need either butter and honey or red eye gravy. Or turkey gravy. Or sausage gravy. Hmmm, I’ll get back to you on that one.
I got to babymaking young, so shelf bras just AREN’T an option. My boobs actually laugh at them.

I’ve never found a workout top with a built in bra that I like. just doesn’t work for me.

Janae, I just have to tell you that I did my first sprint tri on Saturday and my dinner the night before the race was fro-yo. I’m not kidding, that’s all I ate for dinner. Yay, questions!

1) I think my favorite way to eat peaches is just plain & fresh, though I’m also a big fan of cutting them up into little pieces to put in my breakfast of yogurt & granola.

2) Fudgeline brownies ALL. THE. WAY.

3) I can’t say I eat a lot of biscuits; usually I tend to eat them with gravy (dinner-style).

4) I don’t mind the workout tops with the shelf bras, but I would never rely on the shelf bra & nothing else — they’re usually pretty weak & useless so I always wear a real sports bra underneath it. (Then again, I am SUPER picky about running bras.)

Reply

bleh! no bras in my tops! they drive me crazy, I do not have enough goods to need 2 bras!

I LOVE peaches and milk! But I only really have them at the cabin during the summer. Yum!

Peaches are my absolute favorite fruit. I love them any way, plain, in smoothies, in pie, in cobbler. I just made a batch of freezer peaches…mix diced peaches with a bit of sugar and freeze them. Take them for lunch and by time you eat they’ll be kind of slushy and delicious!

I love gooey fudgy brownies. In fact, I think I’m going to have to make some tonight!

I put jam on my biscuits…or butter and honey. Yum!

I don’t like any tops with built in bras. They look and feel weird on me!

Workout tops with a built-in bra: don’t mind them but still wear a separate sports bra! IDK why though, not like I need that much support haha
