This was my Friday night dinner.

IMG 8169

A salad in a cereal bowl (not my usual family-sized serving bowl) with some peppers and salmon.

Almost August FOOLS…..please tell me that you knew I was kidding.

That was just my first course at 7pm because I knew that we wouldn’t be eating until d11pm.

I know.  Who does that?

Well, it is kind of a Jacobs family tradition to go to Corky’s diner in the middle of the night and see who can consume the highest amount of empty calories. (Previous competition seen HERE).

I will let the pictures do the rest of the talking because it is late and besides the hash browns hurting my stomach as I attempt my mile tomorrow, I don’t want to add to the fact that I only got 2.3 hours of sleep to the list of why I will probably end up doing the stationary book while reading Hunger Games for the second time.  Longest sentence ever, keep in mind it is late and the fact that this is hungryrunnergirl where there are usually 45 grammer errors per post.

Lots of leftovers for tomorrow:)

Corky’s:  I promise I will leave enough room in my stomach next time to try out your amazing dessert but I think my chocolate chip/banana pancake did the trick with the whole dessert thing!

I always have a hard time choosing between b-fast food or sandwiches/fries for late night eating fests….what would you have chosen?

-Usually I chose bfast because it is my all time favorite meal of the day!

What is going to be the best part about your Saturday?

-We are going to the MOVIES….we are going to see ‘Larry Crowne.’

Does eating junk late at night make you more or less likely to workout the next day?

-I don’t know yet….as of right now I am feeling pretty unmotivated to workout in the morning but that may just be the pancakes talking!

I have the same problem! I usually go for breakfast too. You can never go wrong with pancakes! :D
We are going to a family reunion camp-out today at my in-laws house. Hoping we might get to go see Harry Potter also!
I think the staying up late part affects my next day workout more than junk food, but it’s been a while since I’ve had any midnight snacks. I’ll do some research and get back to you. ;) xo

I fed my kids hot dogs and tator tots last night.. For shame! I was too lazy to make my usual homemade pizza.

Holy ginormous breakfast! I love breakfast for dinner though :) So I would have been in complete heaven. Chocolate chip banana pancakes??? Oh yummy that sounds so good. I probably would be doing an afternoon workout the next day. I can’t imagine feeling light enough to workout the next morning after eating all that.

Late night breakfast food is awesome. Those pancakes look amazing! I also love grilled cheese sandwiches as late night food :)

We are going to a street performers festival this afternoon!

Usually more motivated. But the pop and popcorn at the movie last night hasn’t made me any more motivated this morning ;)

ohmigosh that pancake looks amazing. Please ship your leftovers to me in Boston! :) I always choose breakfast food to eat if it’s an option anywhere. It’s the yummiest! (I’m not sure that’s a real word but whatever. :))

Have a great Saturday!

I love to combine breakfast/dinner late night – like hash browns and BLTs, YUMYUMYUM!!!!

Today I am going to a bbq hosted by one of my bestest friends ever (been friends for 16 years!) and her hubby. So much fun! Best part – my parents are going too, so I have designated drivers! Woohoo!!

Eating junk and/or drinking too much always makes me less motivated to work out, even tho I know I should work out more!

Reply

OH MY GOODNESS…that bbq sounds AMAZING!!! 16 YEARS..wow!

When I eat junk the night before, it usually makes me more motivated to workout the next morning! Sounds like an amazing tradition though :)

That’s such a fun tradition, I love it! Pancakes are my kryptonite…I could eat SO MANY. I definitely would have finished that plate off, haha.

Reply

lol dang that is a legit tradition

ALWAYS breakfast in the middle of the night if given the option :)

Eating junk late at night makes me feel sickish the next day so… working out doesnt sound appealing lol

You SIL looks like Spencer Grammer What’s with the Jacobs family? Are you guys planning a beautiful people take over of So. Cal?

wow that food looked awesome!!
sometimes eating junk late at night could go either way for me! I could wake up the next morning thinking “gotta get rid of all the junk in my system GO!” or “ugh just.want.to.sleep”!!
I have a lot of things I have to do today like go to the gym and write a paper due Monday (oops) but i am also going to a baseball game later! (yankees!)

That is one GIANT pancake! I’m sure you’re not complaining though. In NYC brunch is HUGE but I hate it because I can never decide between sweet or savory !

If I had the late night munchies, breakfast food is the way to go! I LOVE eating cereal with pb and frozen bananas, my healthy version of an Egg McMuffin and huge omelets. Breakfast is, hands down, the best meal of the day :)

Hmmm..I think munchies at night doesn’t stop me from wanting to work out (because I love working out!!) but it would definetly make me feel sluggish while trying to.

Reply

makes me more likely to work out just so i can get up and get a new day going! ya know!
and breakfast foods all the wayyyyyyyyyy! love itttt!

Reply

I am pretty lazy no matter what I eat, I kid, I have no idea if food deters me from working out but I am gonna go with no!

I always go with breakfast foods cause I heart them!

When I saw the picture of the table full of breakfast food I think I heard angels singing “Hallellujah”!

Eating junk late at night always gets ne to the gym the next day, but I usually wait til pretty late in the day to do it!!

We have a friends wedding today. Just got done with my TM run in hotel workout room. Got some pretty nasty looks for taking one up for so long,,,oppsie daisy.

I would have played it just like you. Salad (your salmon one looked delish) followed by pancakes…..which really would be my dessert.

Late night carbs always help my morning workouts. Late night greese, then it turns to an afternoon one usually. Listen to your body this morning, let it make the decision for you.

Happy Saturday!

Good choice on the food. I always feel totally motivated to run in the mornings!

Until the alarm goes off.

Then the battle begins.

Mmmmm that feast looks like it tit the spot. Nothing like a good ol’ fashioned late night food fest to get the blood pumpin! I like breakfast foods at all times of the day, including late night feasts.

The best part of my Saturday will be my run on the old high school track and then my 10 year high school reunion!!

I’m going to say that eating junk food makes me a bit less motivated to work out. I just feel like I’m moving slower…

Reply

Oh! I just order The Hunger Games from amazon, my mom read it and said it’s fantastic so I can’t wait to read it!

Reply

Girl, I love you. ;) Chocolate chip and banana pancakes are my ABSOLUTE favorite breakfast food!!! I’m drooling onto my computer keys right now. Hope you enjoyed every morsel! ;)

Reply

I chose breakfast food everytime over anything. It’s the best meal ever!!

My saturday is going to be lounging and maybe some painting in the house, but I just did my long run, so now I’m thinking a nap.

Reply

I usually go with the sandwich/fries option late at night (or fish tacos from my favorite local bar). However, I do love a good breakfast!!!

The best part of my Saturday is….that I’m giving Daniel his birthday present and I absolutely cannot wait. His birthday is tomorrow, but I’m about to burst, so I’m going to let him open it tonight. I will post it on my blog soon!

I’m usually more motivated to get up and work out after eating badly, but it doesn’t always happen. You can rationalize it by saying “my body needs sleep – sleep is an important part of my health” lol.

Reply

Eating junk late at night makes me want to get up and GO!!! I always feel a little more tired, but the sugar high keeps me going.

Reply

I think I would go with pancakes and a side of hash browns… the best of both worlds.

Awesome tradition!

For late night diner runs, I’ve been doing my normal diner breakfasts of egg white omelets recently. For dessert runs, it’s either chocolate chip pancakes or pie & ice cream (so good call!!!). Sometimes I crazy mozzarella sticks and thick battered french fries. That’s been a long time. I miss them.

This morning, I actively pulled myself out of a funk. I’m about to hit up some Dawson’s Creek DVDs, and get to go on a date tonight (as long as my cold stays out of the way.) :-)

I LOVE breakfast for dinner! I have pancakes like 2/3 times a week for dinner or a big bowl of oatmeal… Specifically because I love the peanut butter/oat mixture.

You ordered my FAVE type of pancakes… banana/chocolate chip… I also like to throw in reese’s pb chips, too if they have them! SO food. It’s like an elvis-y cupcakes then! Mmmm.

I think eating junkfood late gives me a sugar boost the next day for a workout, but sometimes overdoing it makes the middle of the workout stink… Literally. HA.

My saturday is spent lifting, tanning/reading, eating, and swimming laterrrr. Enjoy your day!

Writing to you on my vacation in El Salvador right now :)

That question is always the TOUGHEST for me…i can never decide whether I want breakfast food or sandwich/french fries…i tend to go for the latter the majority of the time :D

Best part of my saturday is the big family reunion/uncles birthday party that is being thrown..I only get to see my family from El Salvador every couple years and its been 5 years since Ive been here so i’m really excited to hang out with the large amount of cousins/uncles/aunts/extended family down here. It should be an excellent time (with an enormous amount of food!)

Eating junk late at night usually motivates me more to work out the next day…and if I choose carefully (sayyy…a grilled cheese sandwich with fries) then its awesome fuel to run the next morning, hahaha.

Reply

EL SALVADOR!!! That is awesome…my brother lived there for two years!!! How was the reunion? That is so exciting, I am so happy for you!

Reply

I would def get the breakfast food late at night, if I stayed up that late. HAH. I am such a nerd, I LOVE my bed and going to sleep early!!

Glad you all had fun, though!

Reply

I love that huuuuge pancake!! Breakfast is definitely my fav meal of the day too so I usually go for that for late night eats!

Just started reading the Hunger Games! It’s addicting. Also, my husband and I are moving from Seattle to Utah – Ogden. We were out there last week (first time I’ve ever been to UT) looking at houses. I think we’ll end up in the Layton/Kaysville/Farmington area since I’m hoping to find a job in Salt Lake. We did manage to see a Cafe Rio and I knew that would be a great place for lunch since you mention it lots – we loved it! We’ll be regulars there for sure :)

Reply

SO SO EXCITING THAT YOU ARE MOVING TO UTAH!!!! We will have to meet up in SALT LAKE for Cafe Rio!!!

Reply

Haha, I LOVE that tradition!! :) I need to introduce it to my family. I’m sure they’d be on board. I’m not sure who doesn’t want to stuff their face with diner food. YUM.

Reply

Whoa those portions are huge, I like!! Brunch is my favorite meal of the day and I always chose the BREAKFAST option so I am sure I would have gone with breakfast if I were you too!
What the heck is that white stuff…looks like mashed potatoes??

Reply

It was biscuits and GRAVY….SO SO GOOD:)

Reply

I know what you mean with late night eating fests. I usually end up going the breakfast route. Either pancakes or corn beef hash….or both. lol

Reply

OMG! My husband and I are doing the Warrior Dash in the morning and we just went for dinner. We had that exact discussion about whether to do breakfast food or dinner food. Our table looked pretty similar, he got biscuits and gravy and I got the omlette with hash browns. They also had free fudge samples! I though we should just get a plate of those but hubby said “no” Such a party pooper.

Reply

FREE FUDGE SAMPLES?!?!?! If I was with you we would have gotten a few plates of fudge!!! HOW WAS THE WARRIOR DASH?

Reply

Love the tradition! I’d definitely choose breakfast foods! :)

Reply

totally with you on choosing breakfast late at night. your pancakes look amazing.

if i eat junk late I’m more likely to workout (and workout harder) but it may be a little later in the morning than crack-of-dawn

Reply

I always choose breakfast! I don’t think what I eat the night before effects my exercise at all actually! Is it bad if the best part of my day has been sleeping in?

Reply

That’s a tough call it’s definitely either breakfast or something horribly fried with a side of fries. Eating out that late is never good!

Reply

Breakfast food is the best food.

The later I eat junk, the less likely I am to workout the next day. There’s some kind of inverse proportion of junk food to exercise. Maybe I’ll draw a graph.

Reply

I probably say i’m going to work out more but am less likely to do it. Food can make me very lazy.
