Today’s workout was a pump class!! I was so excited to go to my favorite teacher and set up early while I  eagerly awaited her arrival and then dun dun dun……

A sub walked in.

I think you all know how much I love my routine.  My routine was messed up.  I wanted to leave but then realized I should probably give her a shot.

She did great but I still missed my super peppy instructor that makes the time FLY by and my muscles sore for 4 days (is that a good thing?)!

The sub was the plank queen and as much as I hate planks I know that they are extremely good for you.  Gotta love it when you are strengthening 135 different muscles at once.

The treadmills were taunting me as I walked by but I stayed strong and remembered my long term goals which require a lot of rest to get there!

What was your workout?

What is your favorite total body strengthening move?

-Planks and push-ups baby.  Hopefully doing these will help my arms look less spaghetti like.

I woke up at 8AM this morning, which is WAY too late to run in the summer mornings. Instead, I did a speed interval workout on the treadmill. I need to do some strength training soon! I do love planks and playing tennis for a whole body workout :)

Speed intervals on the treadmill are my favorites. Tennis is an amazing whole body workout…I want to go play now!

planks are intense, great job!!! i can manage a few sets for 30 seconds each & it’s hardddd. i need to do more toning work!

today i ran 2 miles outside – in 18:11, and it was like 98 degrees! then i retreated to the treadmill for another 4 miles in 40:40. felt really awesome and i’m kinda glad i pushed myself to run a little outside in the crazy heat! ;P

GREAT RUN!!! Girl you are amazing. 98 degrees….I would have melted to death. Gotta love the treadmill:)

Aw bummer! And good for you for doing your planks. They kill me.

Ha, I had pump today and also had a sub. I’m not super attached to my instructor though, the one we used to have and I LOVED moved away, so now we have this super cheesy older guy. The sub today was rockin the 80’s workout gear complete with 4 sweatbands. I wish I was kidding. She was so crazy though, the class flew by!

YAY FOR PUMP!!! 80’s workout gear….I need a picture. Wouldn’t that be fun if we could go to pump together?!?!

I don’t know if you’ve heard of it, but you should check out Physique 57 (physique57.com and they have a facebook). It’s like a pilates/barre/ballet workout that focuses primarily on the lower body but it’s incredible for strength training all over; especially knee recovery and bone density building. A lot of runners use it mixed in with their program. Might help your little femurs stay strong forever! I love it and definitely recommend it to whoever will listen!

That sounds like SO MUCH FUN!! Thank you so so much for the recommendation!! Physique 57 sounds amazing!! Really, thank you so so much!

oooh yes I agree – planks and push ups are awesome!

Oh I know what you mean about the sub-instructor. I was taking a Danceout class once a week and our instructor hurt her leg and now the other lady is taking over for 6 weeks but I’m not a big fan of her so I’m trying to find another class to attend lol

Reply

6 week sub!?!??! I would DIE!!! Okay, I need to try this Danceout class you talk about…sounds amazing!

Today my workout was lifting my fork to my mouth. Bahaha. I love rest days.

I have the exact same spaghetti arm problem. I wish I could say I like push ups but I can only do one. So I will have to say…I like a push up (singular).

You are my idol and I want to be you. That is all.

Reply

That is my favorite kind of working out….or licking an ice cream cone:) SINGULAR PUSH UP IS THE BEST!!! You are hilarious!

Reply

Gotta do the push-up challenge man.. it’s great!

Reply

I quit after 12 pushups ha, I NEED to get back on to that!! Thanks for the reminder!!!

Try rock climbing. I had spaghetti arms too and now they are awesomely toned. It’s also a great feeling to finally be able to do a pull up (way more fun than push ups!).

ROCK CLIMBING KILLS ME (I haven’t been in SO long) thanks for the reminder. You can do a pull up…you are my hero!

Planks are so hard!!!!!!! They kill me at the end of pump! Took the day off today, running in the morning!

Reply

Have an amazing run and great job on your rest day!

Now you’re just making me feel bad for doing nothing tonight…ahhhhhhhhH!!!!

I should get off the couch and burn a few muscles….stupid laziness!

Reply

Don’t feel bad….Your body needs A BREAK!! Rest is good gorgeous girl!

I did a speed workout. I love planks, side planks, pushups, and triceps dips. I do some mega triceps dips that make it hard to use my arms the next day, even to just write my name.

Reply

NICE JOB ON THE SPEED WORKOUT….I miss those. I forget about tricep dips, I need to add those in! It was hard to brush my hair after my tuesday pump class!

My workout today was an hour of various lifting, 45 on the elliptical and 15 on the rower. Which, by the way, is also my favorite total body workout. It’s no impact cardio that also works your arms and back like crazy! I only recently started doing it but I love it madly.

AN HOUR OF LIFTING….you are my hero. I NEED to try the rower, you are hardcore!

work out today was 4k on the treadmill – slowly starting to run after coming back from a leg strain, so it feels good to have the endorphins back and flowin’! i followed it up with some abs and stretching, and later on in the day i stretched a bit more and did some lunges and squats!

favourite full body toning exercise… RUNNING? does that count?

Reply

Running does count and you are right, it is the BEST total body exercise. I am SO SO happy that you got to experience endorphins again after your injury….that really is the best feeling in the world!

45 minutes on the elliptical this morning.

My favorite total body is the lumberjack with a medicine ball.

I finally got my lazy butt on my treadmill this morning. Heaven knows this chubby body needs it! I have been SOO bad since school got out. My husband is in Cali for the summer so it’s hard to get much done with two little monsters running amuck! However, I vowed today (as I do every day :D) that I WILL be better! After that I mopped my kitchen floor on my hands and knees (the only way to get it really clean!), how sad is it that I consider that exercise? I’m totally winded when I’m done. That can’t possibly be a good sign! :)

I took my very first spin class today! I don’t even know why I was so nervous, it was so much fun (even though I felt like I was going to die).

Afterwards (think HOURS later) I did some yoga =)

Reply

I have two favorite core moves, both are modifications of the plank: 1) side plank with a twist and 2) plank on forearms and then one arm at a time press up into push up position (keep going up and down, maintaining form)

Here’s my workout for the day…

I hate subs. I always give them a chance, though.

Reply

I hate having a sub too! But they usually turn out great. Pretty soon I am going to BE that sub when I get my Pilates certification and start subbing so I can get some experience!!!
Today I am doing a Mat Pilates class and then hopefully running outside later in the afternoon.

Reply

Yes, such a let down when it’s not the favorite instructor you’re expecting! Planks are killers, I guess I’ll do them today too. Why don’t you just write up a workout plan for me…lol. Have a fab day!

Reply

Today is an off day unless I’m inspired later. I’m only getting back into the whole exercise on a regular basis thing and easing into it. Monday and Tuesdays I teach swimming lessons which is an upper body workout on Monday and an upper body and a half work out on Tuesday (special needs kids make great weights to lift!) and Thursdays are Exotic Dance class (this week we played on the pole too!) and Saturdays or Sunday I do whatever strikes my fancy, but I have to do something at least one of those days.

And I don’t have a favorite total body strengthening move yet.

Reply

Glad you gave the sub a chance! that would be hard to do when the regulars expect, well the regular! I can’t wait till I have 2 months off and can workout when I want!!!
