Going Under the Knife

This is my sad face.

I will be going under the knife today at 1.  If you remember please have a moment of silence at this time.

Hopefully, I will make it out of surgery alive so that you guys will still have someone to make fun of and someone that makes you feel a little more normal.

IMG_3759.jpg

I have receding gums bad!!! They tell me it has nothing to do with my candy consumption and that it is all genetic but who really knows.  I have had this surgery before and all I remember is drowning my sorrows in ice cream day after day.

I am teasing, it really isn’t that bad.

Basically, they drill into the roof of your mouth, take out as much gum tissue as they can and graph it onto 6 of my teeth.  I am holding the little retainer thingee I have to wear until the hole on the roof of my mouth is healed.

The worst part.  Brace yourself.  No candy for at least two weeks.  Hopefully my marriage will make it through this time…..I am a mean person without candy.

You know you are a food addict when your family puts together a big dinner at Outback because you won’t be able to eat solids for a week or two.

We went all out.  Awesome blossoms, loads of bread, our meals and dessert.

IMG_3768.JPG

I felt like steak and french fries and there was no way I was going to get anything else but that. Come on people I am going to be living off of Jamba and Creamies for the next while.  Don’t feel bad…that is actually really awesome.

Finished off with brownies, nuts, ice cream and whipped cream.  I’ll take that for my last meal.

Say a prayer for me.  And if my posts for the next few days are xtra xtra weird it is because I am on lortab.

No one is allowed to post sugary goodness on their blog until I can eat candy again or else I will virtual punch you.

Oh, and no talking about running either….I am supposed to not run for a few days, we will see how long that lasts.  If you really loved me you would participate in a running fast for me.

————————————————————————————

Do you like laughing gas?

-Yep.  I hate to admit that I am kind of excited for that part of the whole ordeal (is that illegal?).  Most people choose to get anesthesia for this surgery but it costs more so I opt for good ol’ laughing gas and lots of shots.  I also bring my headphones so I can’t hear all of the sounds and the laughing gas takes me to a happy place.

What would you choose for your LAST meal?

-Awesome blossom, steak, ff, brownies…..yep, wish fulfilled. THANKS AUNT LAURA!!!!

Have you ever had surgery?

-Just this gum problem and one time I had a benign tumor in my mouth too….I think it causes some brain damage.

Oh, wow…good luck!! It sounds painful. I wish you a speedy recovery!

I've only had laughing gas when I had my wisdom teeth taken out. It was enjoyable…until I woke up in the middle of surgery! YIKES! Basically they just told me to go back to sleep and I did, but talk about weird. That's my only surgery though.

I think for my last meal I'd have pad thai. I LOVE Thai food. I'd polish it off with mango and sticky rice. That's pretty much my definition of the perfect meal.

Good luck today, I'll be praying for you!

Reply

Oh sad times! :( You'll do great… at least you can ice cream and milkshakes – that's almost like candy.

Last meal? That's hard. Maybe really cheesy/buttery homemade macaroni and cheese. Roasted broccoli. Salty perfect french fries. Mounds of ice cream. Pounds and pounds of raspberries.

Reply

I will be thinking of you! That is the last meal I would choose! Hope you heal quickly!!

Sorry to hear you have to have surgery again!! Hope it goes well and maybe you won't have to go through it again! :-) Earlier this month, I was forced to go on a 10 day diet where I couldn't eat any sweets including fruit, bread, pasta, and candy of course–all that good stuff! I basically was limited to eggs, vegetables and meat. It was really hard but I felt like a stronger person afterward! For my last meal I had some delicious pub fries, a turkey and bacon sandwich and normal fries! Mmmmm :) Good luck! Hopefully the days with no running will go by fast! You'll be running and eating treats again before you know it! :)

Reply

You poor thing!!!!!!!!!! Do you get to miss work for a few days cause that would be a plus right?? I will pray and mourn for you during your candy fast. You can make it. That surgery sounds like zero fun and I hate shots so I feel sorry for you on that one! But I am glad you will have gorgeous gums after this!

Reply

WOW! I'm feeling soo bad for you!! I hope you recover quickly. I've never had laughing gas.. My last meal I don't know I try not to think about that!! Yes, I've had surgery. My tonsils and I had a repair on an umbilical hernia..gee I guess that's what happens when you have 5 kids!

*** For Billy's Eyes Only*** My man, you want to come hang with me for 2 weeks? I will provide food, shelter, PS2 and Wii, total guy 2 weeks

***Janae, you can read from this point down***
Ok that just sucks, 2 weeks?? Really?? Well, maybe it wont be that long

– I like laughing gas

– I am ignoring #2

– I have had 7 surgeries, I play rough

I had laughing gas when I had my wisdom teeth out. It makes me a little nuttier than I already am. YIKES.
I have had surgery 3 times on my stomach and once in my mouth. No fun!
Prayers coming your way! Hope all goes well. : )

Reply

Good luck :( I know ill be fine thru the surgery, just hope you make it thru the next few days!
Id want comfort food for my last meal!
I've had one surgery and it was awful- gall bladder removed.

Reply

Yikes! That doesn't sound so fun – I'll send good thoughts! And since I'm not logging miles this week either, I'll join you in that running fast :)

Reply

Thinking of you!
I've had 2 c sections and some minor surgeries, but the mouth thing does not sound good at all :-(
Praying for quick healing for you!!!!

Reply

Girl, you just scared me! I thought you were getting like knee surgery or something equally life ending (not that a temporary ban from candy is not flirting with end of life bad) but at least it's not messing with your running TOO much.

My last meal would involve an entire jar of peanut butter, chocolate, peanut butter and chocolate together, and maybe some chocolate donut holes…with peanut butter on top.

Reply

Good luck with your surgery and the no candy running thing. Geeze, they really are handing you a rough sentence there!
Laughing gas is great except to get it you have to go into the dentist's office which smells like death. Or old people. I can't decide.
I had surgery on a herniated belly button courtesy of child #4. It was horrid. But my bellybutton does not poke out now while I'm running!
I'll be thinking and praying for a quick recovery!

Reply

Sorry about the surgery. I have the same problem, but not as bad yet. It doesn't sound like fun :(
I had surgery to remove my tonsils when I was in 11th grade. I remember the doctor asking me questions to see if the anethesia was working. He asked if I was a cheerleader and I yelled NO and remember feeling upset! ha ha. Apparently I had an unrealized, deep rooted hatred of cheerleaders. It took years of therapy, but I am finally able to watch football games again :P
My last meal would be Thanksgiving dinner. So yum!

Reply

Good luck Janae! Ill be thinking about you.

Reply

So sorry – throwing some prayers your way for sure!! NO RUNNING??? WHAT??? Poor Billy…. :)
I totally would either eat what you had or would have the ahi tuna at Outback. YUM!!! Or a fajita quesadilla from our local Mexican restaurant. Or lasagna and garlic bread!! Or turkey, bacon, and avocado sandwich!! Or there is this buffalo chicken wrap at a local deli here that's amazing! Or Hibachi steak and shrimp! Or Red Curry Chicken from the Thai Place! Or possibly a bacon cheeseburger and some salty french fries… and a milkshake to wash it all down.

Reply

Wow.. that sounds crazy painful! I have had a root canal and had two babies, and wisdom teeth out if that counts for surgery..

Reply

I've never had laughing gas but I love passing gas.

good luck today. will be thinking of you.

Reply

Good luck girl!

Reply

Oh ouchies. Anything having to do with my mouth is super scary. I cried for days before my root canal, haha! Good luck, I hope you have a super quick and easy recovery!

And dangit…now I want an awesome blossom!

Hmmm I have had my tonsils removed (twice!), sinus surgery, wisdom teeth removed, five knee surgeries and a root canal…I think my typical "last meal" has usually been Italian! Or pizza :)

Reply

You poor thing! Will say a prayer for you!

I had major mouth and neck surgery two year ago and had to eat only soft foods for two weeks.Jello became my best friend! My last meal before soemthing like that: crab legs.

Reply

you are too cute! so sorry to hear that though…i had surgery, they removed 8 teeth at one time! hello chipmunk! it wasn't so bad…look at all the positives, you get to have family wait on you hand and foot! :) plus you may lose a few pounds, not that you need to because by your picture you look absolutely fabulous! but anyway, i hope all goes well! i'll eat and run some for you! :)

Reply

I've never had any major surgeries…Outback sounds like a great place for a 'last meal'. I love their blossom, bread, salad, baked potatoes, and dessert. Hope everything goes well with your surgery=)

Reply

Oof that sounds bad! I've only had surgery once and it was to get my wisdom teeth removed. I remember enjoying the laughing gas, haha. My last meal would probably be something really ridiculous – like a really huge tuna melt followed by cookie cake. Good luck!! I'm sure everything will go great!

Reply

I've never had surgery….
My last meal would have cheesy chicken tortilla soup in a bread bowl, followed up with my mom's brownies with ice cream!!!!! =D And then probably some more bread….and sugar!
I'll be praying for you today!

Reply

Good luck with your surgery! Thinking of you and sending you super good healing vibes! I'm happy you got to enjoy an awesome last meal before your time of liquid foods.

I haven't had any major surgeries since I was a kid, but I think if I did I would request that Cora's be my last meal – and I would order not just the veggie omelet, but also probably the french toast and a fruit cup and toast. Breakfast is my favorite!

You're tough! Enjoy all the smoothies and ice cream you can eat! :)

Reply

Heck giel, I started my running fast for you Months ago! So you will be TOTALLY fine! I have that much faith.

Kisses,
Blue ♥

(uh, GIRL!) ♥

Reply

Oh gosh, I'm sorry! That's the worst! I guess you should just lean on frozen yogurt and blizzards for a few days. Shouldn't be too bad…
For some reason oral pain doesn't bother me (but I have a high pain threshold). Once I had my bottom wisdom teeth cut out with just a topical anesthetic…on my lunch break…then I went back to work and ate a steak! So I've never had laughing gas!

Reply

Oh Janae! I've had a gum graft before! Headphones and good music definitely help. I hope it goes by quickly! I'll be saying prayers for you this afternoon. I had the laughing gas during mine as well – I'm a weenie about anesthesia. Hmmmm, my last meal would probably have to include guacamole. Lots of it. Or maybe a Mediterranean feast with lots of pita bread and hummus. Apple pie for dessert. And chocolate chip cookies. xoxoxo

Reply

Oh Janae!!! Wish I was there to take care of you!!! But I know Billy will do great! Enjoy a few days of PJs and ice cream, t.v. and smoothies!! Sounds heavenly! Except for the ouchie part……. I hope it's not too awful. You know you're in our prayers!!

Reply

I have actually never had any kind of surgery. Thank God because I would probably faint ;)

Reply

big fat bummer! here's to a speedy recovery. i despise mouth surgery. i had to get dental implants. i was not born with permanent teeth where both of my "eye" teeth were supposed to be. when i was 25, i had to get the implants which required a lot of surgery and plenty of laughing gas. the best about the laughing gas is i just ramble and ramble. i can't quit talking! even when they're trying to slice my mouth open i'm telling them all about breast implants. it was entertaining. or so i hear.

have a restful weekend!

Reply

A-HA! Now I know how to get you back for posting Cafe Rio pictures! Seriously, I hope all goes well…

Reply

I guess you could say i had "surgery" when i had my wisdom teeth pulled because all of them were impacted…i didn't get laughing gas but they had the needle in my hand and after they put it in, i got to 96 out of 100 before i passed out. When i woke i had no idea they were done, and seriously so disoriented i couldn't walk…but not enough to yell at my mom when it wore off and i needed my Vicodin!!!! LOL

i'm sure your surgery will go well. hugs babe; embrace all the soft foods like pudding and ice cream…or i mean, you know, soup or…mashed potatoes? with lots of butter? hahaha!

Reply

I would choose italian as my last meal and end it with a pazooki!!!! YUM.

Reply

Oh no!!! I hope you heal quickly. SOrry about your gums – that's no fun!

I have had surgery before – once for a birthmark on my leg that is vascular (which didn't work and it came back), once on my thumb when I tore ligaments straight off the bone, and once for my wisdom teeth. The laughing gas is fun, but anesethia (sp?) makes me puke

Reply

Good luck today!!! I feel your pain. I have all sort of teeth issues.

Reply

Good luck girl! I looove laughing gas, it is so fun! Slash I will send you smoothies galore for being such a brave soul, you need to take a video if you do crazy stuff.

When I got my wisdom teeth out I literally ate everything I usually eat, just blenderized! It looks NAST, but tasted so good:)

Reply

Good luck! Best of luck and I cant wait to read some drugged up posts ;)

Reply

Eeeeeek! Sending you all sorts of good, healing thoughts! I've never even had a stitch, nevermind surgery so I can't even imagine what it's like…

Reply

We'll keep you in our thoughts today! Let's hope you get those legs running and some liquid candy in that system! hahah.

I posted a quick well wishes on my blog for ya

Last meal would be my mom's homemade lasagna. She is full Italian and it is to die for. Plus LOTS of garlic bread. And cheesecake. Don't forget the cheesecake.

I've never had surgery but I broke my back when I was 18 and had to wear a super classy back brace for 4 months. I need to get my wisdom teeth out but I am putting it off until this summer because I'm a wuss.

Reply

Ahh oh no! :( I'm so sorry, that sounds awful. Definitely thinking good thoughts for you! I'm sure you'll bef ine though.

I'll do a running fast for you :P Partly because I love yout hat much and partly because I'm lazy. Let's be honest. ;)

Oh no, friend! I will be praying for you. I'm proud of your "last supper." I think Jesus would be proud, too. My husband just had that surgery over Christmas break! It was only to cover TWO teeth though, and he was a huge baby about it! I'll have to let him know that you are having SIX teeth done and to man up! :) Praying that everything goes smoothly!

Reply

I've had some dental surgery before, and I prefer to be completly awake and only shot up with novacane. I know, I'm weird!

Reply

That surgery does not sound like fun. I will definitely say a prayer for you! I may also do my best to avoid candy. I did somehow manage not to buy Swedish Fish at Target this morning. Miracles do happen!

My last meal would involve all my fave foods from my hometown, Cincinnati. Skyline Chili, Graeter's ice cream and cheeseburgers with cheese fries from this diner. Mmmm!

Reply

Good luck with your surgery…sounds like you can handle that. Not so much the candy & running part though! ;) Ha!

Reply

Awww, Janae, I hope everything goes really well and that your recovery is speedy. The only surgery I've ever had was for my wisdom teeth.

My last meal would definitely involve a nice filet mignon and something with lots of chocolately goodness.

Best of luck today!

Reply

oh DEAR! i will definitely be thinking about you this afternoon. i know you said its no big deal…but it doesn't sound like fun at all. sounds like a perfect last meal. i would do something foreign. like thai or indian. i like the spice!!! although my favorite food is soup…any kind of vegetarian soup (except split pea-yuck!)

Reply

Oh, Janae. I am so sorry! That sounds truly miserable. When I was at the dentist this week, he told me that my gums are starting to recede. He blamed it on my "maturing", which I take offense at since he is like twice my age. Also, I may have a death grip on my toothbrush. I was advised to switch to a spin brush and have to put leave-on flouride on my back teeth every night before bed. My four year old son had a cavity filled two weeks ago. Last night he was talking about how he loved getting "the big pink nose". He said it was fun and he felt like he was flying. I said next time he needs to share the wealth and let me have a hit.

Let us know how you are doing. I promise not to eat candy without you.

Reply

Good luck with the surgery. I am looking very forward to the lortab blog posts! Please try posting immediately after surgery. I can imagine it would be something like this (http://hyperboleandahalf.blogspot.com/2010/09/party.html) which will be amazing.

Take it easy and try to enjoy the running fast…you'll be that much faster when you return!

Reply

Ouch! I didn't like the description of what you're having done. I've had too many mouth surgeries and totally sympathize.
Try to enjoy the ice cream and feel better soon.

Reply

Do you like laughing gas?

-No. I went under the knife as a 7-year-old with laughing gas, and I kept "tasting" it for a long time after waking up!

What would you choose for your LAST meal?

– A pizza with lots of cheese.

Have you ever had surgery?

– Yes. Eye (at age 7), went under w/laughing gas. And wisdom teeth (cut all 4 out at once with the needle) at age 21.

Reply

Good luck!

I'm not sure what I would want my last meal to be. There are so many delicious foods. But I think it would be a bacon cheeseburger with fries. And ice cream for dessert. Yum.

Reply

OH YUCK!! I had that surgery a couple of years ago, the worst part was the hole in the top of my mouth. I think it was really bad for a day and then I started feeling normal again. Like you I have a hard time not being active so I didn't wait long to get back in the gym (maybe this is not the week to run 26 miles on the treadmill though:)). Good luck, and enjoy all the icecream. That was the best part!

Reply

Good luck, little lady!

Here's to a fast recovery. :)

Reply

1) I don't like laughing gas because it reminds me too much of being drunk, which I'm not a fan of.

2) My last meal would probably be lasagna with tons of meat and cheese, cheesy garlic bread dipped in marinara, and a GIGANTIC portion of ice cream cake or an ice cream sundae. YUM.

3) I have had surgery, but only on my wisdom teeth. They're OUTTA there.

I'll say a prayer for you today : )

Your poor mouth :(
I will go on a candy fast just for you. Deal?

I know, I am a great friend. Hahaha… ;)

Reply

I will be thinking of you! Receding gums are genetic and it sucks, my dad has them and has had several surgeries and I'm in the early stages so I feel for you. It sounds rather painful, so take your meds. Hope you have a speedy recovery.

Reply

I think for my last meal I would have the "West by God" salad from The Terminal (an AWESOME local restaurant in Chattanooga). It is a salad with lots of fresh greens, steak, fries, candied pecans and blue cheese. TO DIE FOR!

Good luck with the surgery and the no-candy thing :(

Reply

SAD! :( I will be praying for you and eating lots of extra candy in your honor. Enjoy the laughing gas – LOVE that stuff. :)

Reply

Sorry to hear that! Hope recovery goes quickly!Try to lay low and not run, the exertion and having your heart beat faster can delay the inital healing needed. (I used to work for a dentist before I decided to stay home with my kiddos)

I've never had the gas, but the last thing I've had to have done at the dentist besides cleaning is a filling 13 years ago. But they did give me valium when I had my wisdom teeth out…that is good stuff :)

My last meal I think would be this chicken dish I make with Chicken breasts and it has a wine-cream sauce with fresh mushrooms with it…yummy!

I have had 3 surgeries, all c-sections, not fun, but the end result is totally worth it.

Reply

That so super sucks! I live in dread of that day… I have receding gums, too. They are telling you the truth… it has nothing to do w/ your candy consumption! For real. I'll be thinking of you lots and hoping it all goes smoothly and you heal super quick :)
I don't know about laughing gas… never had it, I don't think.
Don't want to think about a LAST meal yet!
Surgeries: wisdom teeth out, weird little lumpy thing on my forehead out, appendix out (scary), fallopian tube out (scary), emergency lung surgery (scary). I don't like surgery to happen to me…

Reply

Oh no! that does not sound fun. But an excuse to eat lots of ice cream? Never had laughing gas, but it sounds like a good time. For my last meal I would eat a giant cake from Magnolia bakery.

Reply

Hope the surgery went well and you are feeling ok! 6 years ago I had my appendix out and 5 years ago I had my wisdom teeth out. Both were not too bad – the teeth one sucked because I had to try and eat Christmas dinner. Also I wasn't supposed to run much because of my teeth but I still did because I was in the middle of bball season!

Reply

Aww, that sucks about your surgery. I'll be sending positive thoughts your way! The 2 weeks without candy will pass quickly, and then you can get right back to it :-)

Reply

Good luck with your surgery! I bet you'll be back to running sooner than you think…

I've had three things surgically removed from my body: an appendix, a baby, and a kidney. It's not so bad, but my abdomen is a lovely patchwork of scars now…

Just think how great that first piece of candy will taste! You can start planning what kind it will be…

Reply

Oh Yuck!! I will definitely observe the moment of silence. I may even eat some Swedish fish in your honor!

I work at a Dentist's office. I give people "laughing gas" all day. Some may also call it "truth serum" I've heard some good stories!! I've also had people bite me, throw up on me, swear at me, sing to me! Really hope it goes well for you!

Great excuse for Slurpees!! My last meal would definitely include a huge piece of carrot cake with cream cheese frosting and maybe McDonalds french fries…..

I've had 2 C-sections and gall bladder. Two cute little rewards and a bag of stones….

Reply

Oh man, no fun!! Try to enjoy the down time and good luck!!

My last meal would be a really juicy burger (cause I never have them ..) and french fires with cheesecake for desert. Let's hope I never need a "last meal"… my heart hurts just thinking about all that food.

No surgeries or laughing gas for me.

Reply

Good Luck. When I had my wisdom teeth out, I was doped up in the recovery room and my lips were really swollen. Drugged up me thought this was hilarious and started giggling so hard that my lip split. Basically I looked like a total crazy person. My mom thought I was so funny that she was laughing so hard she was in tears.

Hopefully your drug induced state after surgery is just as hilarious and fun.

Also jamba juice is fantastic

We can go eat there with our hubbys when you move here?!?!
Good luck!

Gooooood luck! No candy for 2 weeks? OMG! I love laughing gas. When I had my wisdom teeth removed, I wasn't knocked out – just the gas. It was awesome and I think it was part of the reason I recovered quicker than all my friends (who were all knocked out). So far its the only surgery I've had but later this year, I'm having my gall bladder removed (goodbye Murphy…yes, I named my gallbladder).

Reply

Good luck girl!! Right after I got my wisdom teeth out when I was 16, my dad was walking me out to the car. He said it was like I was hammered. Just laughing at absolutely nothing and stumbling around. I don't remember any of it, but sounds like a good time ;)

Hope all went well- I felt queasy just reading that! I will do the opposite of a running fast- I will run for you tomorrow- isnt that nearly as good? Maybe I will get some of your speed haha!
Last meals- hmm, maybe a proper thin pizza with goats cheese and caramelised onions and peppers-mmmm.

Ouch that sound painful! Good Luck you will be back to eating candy and running in no time :)

awww…Janae!! :( Speedy recovery for a speedy girl!! You have angels over you sweetie!!

Last meal – korean bimbimbap!! (yummy rice dish):) 3 c-sections!

Don't worry about taking a few days off from running. Just think when you're ready to start running you'll be on fresh legs and ready to go fast!! :) Take care sweetie!! xo :)

Reply

Poor Janae :( Living on ice cream! hahaha. For my last meal I would have pecan pancakes with a side of macaroni and 90 butter covered biscuits from Cracker Barrel. There I said it, my fantasies are now public.

Reply

Ah hope it goes well! I also have receding gums, but hopefully, I don't need surgery. I had my wisdom teeth out, but I didn't swell up or have that much pain. At least you had an awesome last meal, and get to drink tons of smoothies! I would choose sushi + ice cream for my last meal.

Reply

Oh my gosh! I have a receding gum line too! They keep threatening surgery on me if I don't stop brushing my teeth too hard. I feel bad for you. :( I hope it goes okay! I know going w/o eating solids is brutal…you can do it!!

Surgery – yes – 2x in 1 year – my c-section and gallbladder and my top wisdom teeth a long time ago…not doing that again (infection, swollen face like a balloon – horrible!). Fun times! :)

Good luck!! Hoping to hear that everything went well!

Reply

Oh gosh wishing you all the best with the surgery. Looks like quite the sendoff meal!
Laughing gas is the bomb–although I haven't had it in ages!
My last meal would probably involve pizza.

Reply

I've had the same surgery! But mine was from brushing my teeth too hard/wearing braces FOREVER. Not too terrible but still kinda sucky. Good luck and enjoy laughing gas!

Reply

Good luck!

I had a root canal in 2001 and they had run out of the gas by the time I got there that day. The dentist gave me headphones and I cranked it up as loud as I could stand it and tried to tune out all the noises.

That sounds extremely unpleasant! Best of luck for a quick recovery!

No solid food for two weeks? Damn. I would eat my body weight in jello.

Reply

I have had mouth surgery before, so I feel your pain. Thinking of you.

I'll be thinking of you! It's hard to choose which is worse: not being able to eat solid food or not being able to run :(

I've never had laughing gas but have had emergency surgery before. I reacted so badly to the morphine they gave me for the pain that I was in just as much danger of dying from that as I was from the actual operation itself.

Last meal: pizza smothered in vegan cheese. And six Nanas cookies for dessert :P

Wishing you well and a speedy recovery

*hugs*

SO FUNNY you mentioned Creamies. Does ANYONE outside of Utah know what a 'Creamie' is? Love them. And I don't discriminate against the banana flavor like so many do.

Hope all went well today!

Awwww, girl, I'll pray for you. I hope your surgery goes well and you heal really fast so you can get back to your Swedish fish quickly!!

My last meal? Lots of mac and cheese. The Kraft kind because I'm classy like that. :)

I hope your surgery went well!! That sounds extremely uncomfortable!! Poor thing! At least you get to have a lot of ice cream!! I love laughing gas but it's been a while since I've had to have it!!

Reply

Hope everything went well and you have a quick recovery.

I love laughing gas too!

Last meal – not sure of everything, but shrimp would probably be involved and creme brulee would definitely be part of the dessert.

Hope you're surgery went well! :)

Laughing gas – lovee the strawberry scented stuff!

Last Meal- either crawfish orr chicken fried steak/mashed potatoes with grazy/cornbread with black eyed peas :) yumm-o! oh & who could forget dessert! Definitely a lava cake from Chili's!

The only "surgery" I had was having my wisdom teeth extracted! They hadn't broken skin yet so they had to surgically remove them!

I am not running today and tomorrow to support you..well really it is my taper before my half on Sunday but that is a detail!
Surgeries: 4

1 hysterectomy
1 gallbladder removal
I don't recommend any of these, they all sucked espacially the last 2..5 mos apart also:(
Last meal: lasagna!
I miss lasagna sooooooo much

Prayers are headed your way? I'm just wondering if this means no smooches for Billy? Lol…what's more detrimental to the marriage…lack of kisses or lack of your candy consumption. :)

Your last meal looks pretty amazing. :)

I did not mean to question mark the prayers. :)

Hope your surgery went well today. Hoping for a speedy recovery. Enjoy all that ice cream.

Oh no! I'm just now seeing this. I hope everything went okay and you are enjoying your lortab-induced haze!

My gums are receding a little bit too at the back top molars. There are certain types of candy I can't eat because of it. Caramels used to be my favorites, but they are ABSOLUTELY OUT OF THE QUESTION NOW! I ate one last Christmas, and I thought they were going to have to peel me off the ceiling.

Feel better SOOOOOOOON!

Whoa. Not gonna lie — that doesn't sound fun :(

Not sugary goodness at all — check out my last blog post about frogs and spinach :)

Feel better soon!!!

wow, I've never heard of such a surgery, I'm glad they have something to help with the issue!

I've had a few surgerys. One quick and easy one on each knee in high school, which were both awesome and fixed me up perfectly. the other was to have a tumor removed from my pituitary gland. that one sucked, but I'm still alive and running!

I hope you're having a peaceful recovery right now!!! That doesn't sound fun…

my meal would include bread, lots and lots of bread… and a cherry coke… :)

I think I had laughing gas for my wisdom teeth removal. Fun stuff. I've had two surgeries: wisdom teeth and tonsils. Went to Wal-Mart and walked around texting after the teeth (although I did end up having to ask for the keys to the car so I could go lay down while my mom finished up), and went shoe shopping after the tonsils (I think I said "This may sound weird, but can we stop by Dillard's? They had a nice pair of heels on sale and I want to see if they're still there")

And last meal would probably consist of tons of green beans, chicken n' dumplins, Rocky Mountain pie with mounds of cool whip, and ice cream. And good, fresh peaches and blueberries…

Don't look at my blog then, I posted a bunch of food pics :) I've had a bunch of surgeries, the recovery is the part I hate the most. Hope you get better quickly!

sorry to hear about the surgery…U am a few days late in reading so I know that the surgery is done and all by now. Hope you are feeling well. My last meal would have to be a thanksgiving dinner with everything. I heart thanksgiving dinner! I also LOVE my husbands Guiness Stew over mashed potatoes…I have unfortunately been blessed with many surgeries….1st being my appendix removed in 3rd grade followed up by 6 knee surgeries from Jr. year in high school thru Feb 2009. Hope no more!

You poor thing! I hope the recovery is going well. This is totally random, unsolicited information, but if you ever have to do this again, look into something called AlloDerm. I had receding gums several years ago. We lived in Dallas at the time and I was lucky enough to have an awesome specialist who does this state-of-the-art procedure where they no longer have to cut the freaking skin out of the roof of your mouth. They basically use regenerated cells (basically donated human tissue that has been processed to remove all cells, leaving behind a regenerative tissue) and graft it into your gums. Might sound gross, but it's the latest, most advanced way to do grafts on gums and so much less painful. Heals beautifully can't tell i ever had it done and haven't had any trouble with it since. Anyway probably waaaaaaaaaaaaay too much information that you don't care about, but just thought I would mention it if you ever have through this again, it might be worth checking into. Eat some ice cream for me!!!

Hello.

I am kind of late to the party… found your blog recently and am now catching up on all your lovely posts. You crack me up! This is my first comment on your blog. I also have receding gumlines… but that is because I went 4 years with braces. I have receding gumlines on all the teeth where they placed the bands… I guess they really dug it in there. Totally sucks! Since I am reading your blog backwards… glad the surgery went well :)

Oh… and by the way… so bummed I am not in Utah to join you for bloggie parties. But if you're ever in California… let me know! You seem like a fun gal :)
