Thank you thank you thank you for the sweet amazing comments last post. Pretty sure I am obsessed with you guys and we are all best friends.
I thought I would give you a small peak at what the Jacobs fam does best.
1. We know how to eat really good foods.
I made them mama pea’s pb dough balls. Not only am I MIL’s fave but I think I just won my FIL’s favorite child position. Ghiradelli chocolate chips are the best.
1 chocolate chip for cookies, 5 chocolate chips for Janae. Repeat.
2. We know what it takes to make an awesome gingerbread house.
Homemade gingerbread.
Shopping cart of the decorations.
3. We know how to be really lazy. Hey, we all worked out this morning. We deserve to sit around the fire, watch football, develop bed sores and bake for 12 hours straight.
4. We know how to let puppies attack us.
5. We are the bomb.com at ping pong. Let me know if you know of any tournaments going on. We would take 1st.
6. Most importantly, we know how to spend the maximum amount of time together when we are all in town.
Isn’t our social health/relationships even more important than how many miles we run and how many vegetable we eat?!?! I think so.
Oh, and we know how to shop. That is very important too.
Do you make gingerbread houses?
-We did occasionally with graham crackers when we were growing up but Billy’s fam does every year. It is a huge deal and there is a huge competition. We are making them today…get excited for lots of pictures.
I need ideas of what to use for the roof of my gingerbread house. We have every candy you can think of so help me out, let me know what creative ideas you have for gingerbread houses…I need to win the competition.
What does your family do best?
p.s. Don’t eat dove chocolate in bed at 12:17 a.m. It causes really weird dreams but dare I say it was totally worth it.

Jogging with Fiction
We used to do ginger bread houses with graham crackers too, but haven't really done it since we were young.
I'd say my family plays games best. Every time we all get together there's at least one game of scrabble going on. There's always an assortment of card games too. That's what happens when you have to entertain like 50 people for a week straight.

My favorite part of this blog post was the puppy licking part, as you probably could have guessed. I want to snuggle with that pup so badly. It's so cute.
Good luck at the gingerbread competition…maybe you could create a dog house for that little pup or…a schoolhouse since you are a teacher..

Yes I love a gingerbread house! When I was litle we would make one, and I have continued the tradition now I live in my own place! I used those chocolate buttons with sprinkles on them for roof tiles, although I think simple is best and next year I might make mini gingerbread tiles for the roof with the left over dough. Have fun whatever you decide to do :)

So if you have extra gingerbread its fun to make people for your house, preferably people who are in the room. Decorate them to be what the people are currently wearing, and see how long it takes them to figure out what you are doing. We did this at our last competition with my friend Zach it was really funny. We kept playing it off like Zach stop being so narcissistic this cookie is not of you…until we put the face on then there was no denying it anymore.

My family is best at…puns. Seriously. Do not get us started. There are eleven of us and we'll word-play you to death in five minutes.
Gingerbread house roof…you know what's cute? Cut licorice snaps in half length-wise and make a ceramic tile roof. Or use blue fruit roll-ups for solar panels. I did that once on a totally "green" house that also had sod walls (blocks of brownies), window-box gardens, and a compost-heap (totally easy). Another cute idea is to construct the house with a separate roof (to get it to hold its shape, brace with straws, stirrers, and toothpick – like rafters. You decorate the inside, too, and the house has a removable roof. So cute. Wins every contest, promise.

Since you are in Cali I am so for sure going to come over and wrestle you. Its those cookies. You taunt me, you make me pace and now I am schelpping all 3 boys into the kitchen to get their bake on. They better bring it.
ANd I feel you on the chillllll front. SOme times you get so caught up in getting the miles in and the food right you lose sight of the fact that a week off never hurt anybody. Especially when it fills your soul. Like a soul treadmill. Look at me- thats like an new R and B hit. I am calling Akon.
Anyhow to eat and drink and be merry with the ones you love, that comes once a year and is worth every lethargic second. We are lucky to be so loved so we should revel in it once in a while.

Every year my extended family gathers and every sub-family with little kids makes their own house. The tradition is to use Necco wafers for the roof (if you can convince your toddler, that is).
The coolest thing I ever saw was hanging m&m's from the 'eaves' of the roof. It looks like Christmas lights! And if you lay the sides of the house on wax paper and pour colored sugar syrup in the windows, you have stained glass.

I've never made a gingerbread house. Probably because I'd eat too many decorations. I would use NECCO wafers for the roof. I think they'd actually look like shingles ;) Or Swedish Fish, with the tails cut off. And then eat the tails.

My family is best at eating, playing games, talking (loudly, like over each other to be the loudest) and picking on each other (all in love, of course) when we're together. We are the best of friends and all live w/in 20 minutes of each other…we are spoiled.

Looks like a ton of fun!! My idea for the gingerbread house roof: cut Dots in half (top to bottom) so it looks like tuscan shingles! Or, just eat the Dots.

I haven't made a gingerbread house in YEARS but I love them and love making them! Especially when 90% of the candy doesn't even make it onto the house, ha. My Mum made the homemade gingerbread too… tasted so much better than the kind you'd get in a kit!

I have never made a gingerbread house! My family doesn't celebrate Christmas as my parents are atheists (although I'm still trying to find a spiritual path) and feel it would be hypocritical to do so, so I don't have much knowledge of festive traditions.
English candy is so different from US candy…I don't know what to suggest for your roof as I'm not sure what's available over in the states. I think you'll win anyway because you're one of life's winners in every respect.
I second the request to be adopted by your family lol. My family does arguing and worrying best, although mostly it's because we argue with each other due to the fact that we're worried about each other, and that's a sign we do, in our hearts, love and care for each other very much.
