Sunday is my rest day.
So what do I do: I make up for all the calories I burned throughout the week from exercise by baking treats while somehow laying on the couch for 88% of the day.
You know it is going to be a good day when it starts with this..

Somehow I always end up in charge of making dessert for family dinners.
You’d think that I had a reputation to eat large amounts of sugar and get really really excited to search my cookbooks for delicious recipes.
The cousin is back from Spain and all is right again in the world. While she was in Spain I couldn’t even think/talk/hear/see the movie “Taken.”
I am not going to lie, I was a little worried about her while she was gone..
My aunt made lasagna (that was to die for) salad and french bread.
Only 44 more hours of work until Christmas break officially starts.
Can’t wait to get my sweat on in a few hours, my arteries are feeling a little clogged.
Have you ever lived in a country other than the one you were born in?
-I went to college for a little while in Hawaii….does that count??
-Billy lived in the Ukraine for two years and speaks fluent Russian. I am still working on my English.
What is your favorite Italian meal?
-Lasagna and some form of bread. The more carbs the better right??? I did the ‘Atkins’ diet in high school and lasted three days. I need carbs so that I don’t turn into a monster.

Do you always have huge Sunday dinners or was it just because your cousin came back? We do a big family dinner once a month – we call it "Last Sunday of the Month" (real original, right? :) )… I only have 35 more hours of work until winter break.. muah haha !!

Mmmm all that food looked good!! As far as a different country, no I technically haven't lived in another country but I did grow up in the North and went to college in the South (Ole Miss) and it FELT like a different country. Loved every minute though.
Favorite italian food. Easy. Spaghetti and meatballs. And lots of bread.

I lived in Hawaii for 3 1/2 years which I suppose is technically America… though it didn't always feel like it. I now live in Djibouti, Africa. I can't wait to get back to States. The good ole South in particular!!

Laughing at the Atkins diet. Joe and I tried that South Beach Diet about 5 years ago. We made it to day 9. We were sitting on the couch listing all the food we would DIE for and within minutes were tripping over each other running up the stairs to make cookies. I don't believe any of that cookie dough actually made it to the oven! If I could have but one thing in the world, it would be bread…..

44 hours of work til break?? I work in a school too – I've got all of this week + 3.5 days next week.
I was born in the US/only lived in the US. My only non-US experiences are brief visits to Canada (Ontario), Mexico, St Thomas (US Virgin Islands) and St Martin (French West Indies). I learned German for 5 years and would love to go to Germany some time, though!
I could never have tried the Atkins diet. I love pretzels, bagels, pasta, bread… My favorite Italian dish is Vodka Penne. Or really any cream sauce. Luckily, I rarely let myself have it.

I have to say I do love lasagna, but I also love a pasta I make that has calamata olives, tomatoes, artichoke hearts, spinach, garlic, lemon juice, red pepper flakes, and of course parm cheese. I eat it pretty much every week.
I have tomorrow off, then no more days off work until Christmas Day! Retail can really be a pisser this time of year! But, I do get overtime–whoohoo!

Lately I have really been enjoying pesto sauce with ravioli. Its so flavorful and creamy. Buitoni sells reduced fat pesto basically ready to go in the refrigerator section and it's perfect for a great quick sauce.

oh my gosh-i love the movie TAKEN. i have a 7 year old daughter and after watching that, I declared that once she's an adult, I'd never let her leave the country without me. or the state. or the city. she's staying with me forever :)

I lived in New Zealand for awhile during my student teaching in college. I also spent a month in Thailand traveling with my hubby and brother before we had kids. In response to your comment: 1. didn't get a good pizza shot that would do the pizza justice. 2. Hamstring is feeling great, thanks for asking. I hear it a bit today. 3. Not sure my next race. I think I might be crazy and train for the Newport marathon here in Oregon along the coast (that is in June) but I for sure am running the Hippie Chick half marathon on May 8th. Cutest family ever – and yummy desserts. Billy and I lived in Belize for a while but they speak English there. Billy lived in London for a couple of years before we met…of course they also speak English, but Billy is fluent in Spanish which has helped in many situations. My favorite Italian meal is a big bowl of pasta with veggies and marinara or pomodoro and lots of bread!

I, like you, am always the dessert minion at get togethers. Maybe it is because I usually make things I hate but everyone else likes- win win for me, I get to bake and they eat it all:)
Italian food…I grew up in an italian family and that was like every day food, I never crave it any more and prefere pizza to pasta for my pre-race meals- but if you really made me choose I would say baked ziti, it is easy and always tastes good!

Well, I grew up in the Yukon Territory… yes, it is still in Canada, but it is about as far north in Canada that you can live and live in a HOUSE not an IGLOO. I loved every minute of it though and would move back in a second if not for the memories of a -57 C (which I think is -70 Fahrenheit) Christmas the year I was 12.
I don't really eat much classy Italian food 'cause I don't really care for pasta… but I will eat pizza all day long!
And your photo of the mixer is my favorite. I could/would/do eat cookie dough for breakfast!

I went to Hawaii for a little bit in college, too!!! Crazy. I studied there for a month, so I really mean little bit, but the point is that I was there. And not in the tundra known as Minnesota.
